Strife was flushed red she didn't realize whose quartersthey where .. she wandered around a bit then found Gibsons at last she walked in silently and found him sleeping she quietly slipped into the bed under the covers and skillfully pulled one of his pillows from out beneath his head withouf waking him up and rested her head on that.
The poison wasn't finnshed with her she let out a small cry and twisted in the bed then she paused to make sure she didn't wake him then she fell asleep while her bod y slowly started to shut down from the poison

Loskene awoke from what seemed to be a long nap but it had only been a few hours. He set his alarm because he knew that he and Admiral Lin had to have an important talk. Loskene looked out his window and saw a bright star, the star that the assimilated planet orbited around...It reminded him of Earth's sun, only much larger.
Loskene felt an ache in his leg and it forced him to sit down. He then felt an ache in his head and rubbed his eye. His degeneration was getting worse by the hour... He managed to get up and walk to the tranporter room. He said in a calm, sleepy voice "Energize". He was soon on the Victory-C
Officer: Welcome aboard the Victory, Commodore.
Loskene: Thank you.
Officer: Admiral Lin is waiting in his ready room for you. He wishes to speak to you alone.
Loskene: I know...
Loskene walked up to the bridge and saw Commander Riker sitting in the CO's chair. Riker was alerted to the turbolift whoosh and turned around.
Riker: So we meet again, Commodore. Here for the captain?
Loskene: Indeed, Mr. Riker.
Riker: I'll summon him.....Alright, Go on in.
Loskene slowly walked to the Admirals ready room and walked right in. Magellan was immersed in a padd. He looked almost hypnotized by it. Not looking up he said: "Welcome Commodore, Please have a seat."
Loskene sat down and waited for Magellan to look up at him.
Magellan: How are you? You don't look so good...
Loskene: I'm....not very good sir.
Magellan: I suggest you go to a medical officer.
Loskene: Will do sir.
Magellan: First of all, what happened on the surface? What did you encounter?
Loskene: When I beamed down I began to search several structures. There was one that held a vinculum--
Magellan: A vinculum?? Did you destroy it?
Loskene: No....my phaser was not powerful enough to destroy it.
Magellan: Damn it...
Loskene: What is it?
Magellan: I'll get to that later.
Loskene: Borg beamed in and surrounded me... I--
Magellan: I read that part of the log... You managed to kill them.
Loskene: What I didn't put in the log is what happened to me... Sir....ever since I arrived in stellar space I have grown weaker, my molecular structure destabilizing. I knew something was happening but I didn't think it would accelerate so fast...
Magellan: You knew about this....and told no one?
Loskene: I didn't think it was anything to be concerned about...
Magellan: Loskene. Don't be a fool. At the first sign of trouble, you should have contacted Starfleet medical. We didn't know that Stellar space would affect you like that. You should have brought this to someone's attention earlier.
Loskene: I did not want to appear weak...
Magellan: This is not the 8472 fleet, this is Starfleet! We respect each other's weaknessess! It's what makes us different, unique... By knowing each other's weaknessess we can better ourselves!
Loskene: There was something I didn't put in my log. While I was on the surface the Borg offered me a chance to survive. They showed me a-a cure....It was a chamber, something that would regenerate my cells...
Magellan: What did you tell them?
Loskene: I told them that I would never betray my allegiances...and my friends.
Magellan: .... I um...brought you hear to discuss the tactical situation. That vinculum, we think it also serves as a homing beacon... Their may be another Borg ship heading this way.... I was just going to destroy it with your help, but it seems that destroying it at this point is out of the question.
Loskene: Why?
Magellan: I think it would be more useful to us, intact. I plan to have it scrapped, or take the computer core out of it.
Loskene: That's impossible. The computer core is deep within the center of the cube. Why do you wish to pursue this course of action?
Magellan: Because I believe that the technology the Borg offered you is within the computer core. If we can learn how this chamber works...and how to construct it... you won't be at death's doorstep.
Loskene: You can't risk your ship, and mine to save one person.
Magellan: I intend to try, Loskene. As you said, we are your allies...and your friends, and we don't let allies die, and I sure as hell won't let my friends die either. Dismissed, Commodore.
Commodore Loskene walked out of Admiral Magellan's ready room, reflecting on Magellan's words...

It took Felix , Samantha and Lasouux another hour to get all of the weapons modified and set for use.
Sam:"Well now we are finished with weapons for personal use , these should protect the away team once it goes down to the surface."
Felix:"Yes they should , but there so telling how good they work before they are tested in combat situations , but they do have Capt. Picards sugestions with a few add ons."
Felix:"Now we should get to making the Vic's weapons improved , that may be a bit dificult as the Vic is not a Soverign class , but i'm sure we will be able to do something."
Sam:"Well from what i see it there's not muchwe can do acording to Janeways files , all we can do is to write up a program to cycle frequencys for phaserors as for the photon torpedos..."
Lasouux:"I have heard something about a new technology ,i belive it is called phased torpedos?"
This is no anomaly , vote for Savali.

Mike entered his quarters and approached one of the cases. He opened it and inside was a 4 feet long and, at the wider end, 1,5 feet wide metal egg. Its surface was smooth with a few cuts around it. Mike opened a small square shaped door at the top of the wider end of the egg and pressed the button inside it. The egg slowly flew up and out of its case Hovering in the air with the wider and up and the pointy end down. The two rectangular cracks on the side opened and out of there came out two skeleton like hands, and a part of the top came out about 10 inches reveling two circular optical sensors. “Hey Orko! How are you?” “Orko feel fine. How Mike?” “Excellent! That new communication relay is working properly. Listen, we have a lot of problems here. We are on the U.S.S. Jefferson and…” “U.S.S. Jefferson, Sovereign class United Federation of Planets Starfleet vessel.” “Yes but that is not relevant now. The ship is being raided every now and then by the Borg.” “Borg, hostile Delta quadrant race. Extremely lethal. Recommended action, termination.” “My point exactly.”, said Mike, “But don’t elaborate my sentences anymore. I’ll reattach your weapons so you can also operate as a tactical drone. You’ll be either with me or with the Lt. Gibson, this ships CTSO. If you are with him you’ll obey his orders as if they were mine. You’ll meet him later. Did you understand everything? ” “Yes.” Mike opened another case and took out three phasor banks and attached them above the hands and one at the very bottom of the robot. Orko was now combat ready. Mike hailed Telak and Tomora. =/\= Lt. Pasek to Telak and Tomora. =/\= =/\= Telak reporting. =/\= =/\= Tomora here. =/\= =/\= Are there any changes? =/\= =/\= No, sir. =/\= They replied in unison. =/\= Good. Keep your positions and if anything changes contact me. I’ll be away for a bit longer. Pasek out. =/\= Mike thought that it would be best to introduce Orko to Lt. Gibson as soon as possible so he could use him. =/\= Pasek to Lt. Gibson. =/\= =/\= Gibson here. =/\= =/\= Could you please meet me in holodeck one in 5 minutes, I have something to demonstrate to you. =/\=

Aral's eyelids began to lift, and he stretched happily. He extended his arms and...... felt hair. Shifting he looked at his hand, he was holding strifes head. He jumped out of bed.
"What the Hell?!" he yelled. No reaction. She just groaned in pain, still sleeping. "Strife, what the hell you doing in here?!" She didn't move. He shook her, she didn't wake just moaned painfully. Aral ran into the other room, grabbed his uniform and hurriedly pulled it on. Trying to wake her again, she began to shake horribly. He could do nothing but pick her up and run out of the room toward sickbay. He entered the turbolift, and the officers inside shuffled around to make room for them.
Once at sickbay, he set her on the biobed and called the nurse, she rushed over, the nurse called the doctor from her study.
"What happened?" the doctor asked hurriedly as she scanned Cavit with a tricorder.
"She just wouldn't wake up, and then she began to shake." Aral said worriedly.
The doctor set the triccorder aside, "5 cc's of Intricene." she said to the nurse. She pushed the hypo into Strifes neck, and the shaking began to lessen, and then finally stop. "There's some sort of poison in her blood stream. The Intricene should begin destroying it. But we have to find out what it is."
Suddenly Aral's combadge began to beep, he tapped it.
=/\= Gibson here. =/\=
=/\= Could you please meet me in holodeck one in 5 minutes, I have something to demonstrate to you. =/\=
=/\= Acknoledged, Gibson out. =/\= Aral nodded to the doctor.
"She should be fine, Mr. Gibson, but we have to monitor her, make sure the Intricene isn't countered by this strange poison."
He nodded, and left, for Holodeck 1.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aral entered the holodeck to a strange site. There was some sort of robot standing next to Mr. Pasek.
"Whats this?" he said to Pasek.
"This is Orko." came a voice from within the robot.
Aral raised his eyebrows at Pasek.
Pasek grinned, "This is Orko."
"Alright..... So whats going on?"
"Well Orko, is a jack of many trades, he is very capable of helping with the borg. He, as you can see, as many tactical abilities." Michael began to point out the key tactical aspects of Orko.
"You want him to join my security team is what your saying."
"Sort of, Orko is very helpful in battle but he is very useful in science and such as well. He would be either with you or with me, wherever he is needed most at the time."
"Alright, so.... give me a lesson, on.......this- i mean Orko."
OFF: This post is a joint post written by Felix and me over MSN.
"Phased torpedoes," Samantha remarked, "I've heard of them, but don't know much about the research."
"Even if we could modify one or two our torpedoes in that way they wouldn’t be much of a help, since we would need at least 10 or 15 to do any serious damage," Felix responded.
“Well you do have a point their sir," said Lasouux
"Any other ideas?" asked Felix
"We can rotate the frequencies on the phasers,"
"Yes, you mentioned it earlier, we should write up a program to rotate the frequencies."
"If only we could change the frequencies of the explosions from the torpedoes," commented Sam as she walked over to the computer to begin work on the program.
"Yes well, if it would be possible it would be good, but it is not possible," added Lasouux. And they got to work; it took them only a short time to write up a program which will rotate phaser frequencies every 0.5 seconds.
As according to Janeway’s files it is often enough to ensure at least some damage to the Borg ship, but it depends on the type of the ship Felix thought to himself as they finished the program.
"Well that’s done now."
"We should transmit a version of the program over Jefferson," suggested Samantha.
Lasouux and Felix nodded and Samantha transferred the file.
"As for shields we could always try to update what Janeway used when she took on the Borg on her way home," Sam suggested.
"Maybe but still we are not a combat vessel, that’s why the Jefferson and the El-Sal are here to assist in case the Borg attack, as for the shields we should also rotate their freq as it is not exactly my field but I believe the Borg adapt to the shields harmonics?" Felix said.
Felix, Sam and Lasouux began work on the shield frequencies.
Magellan sat uneasily on the bridge of the Victory. Commodore Loskene had just departed for the Jefferson. He mused on the problems before him. He took each point in turn and examined it. 1. The colony was ex-borg 2. Current borg were intent on their re-assimilation of the colonists. 3. The Borg had not come in force. They so far had encountered only 1 scout ship and a sphere. 4. C.mdore Loskene needed the research from a borg ship. Each of the points whilst linked did not tack together. It was driving him to distraction. He decided that more information was needed. Walker Steve and Loskene when they had returned had brought with them the colonists who were with them a Vulcan and a Bajoran. They were at present in Sickbay where Dr Sulla and a few discrete security guards were checking them over. "Commander Walker you have the bridge. Take us out of orbit for the moment and return us to full tactical alert." He left the bridge and went down to Sickbay. Sulla had just finished and indicated that the bajoran woman was senior to the vulcan. "How are you feeling?" he asked "Annoyed" the woman replied. Magellan noded and changed direction "I am Vice Admiral Lin, call me Magellan" The woman paused and replied, "I am Tal Lyra" "We know who you are and we do not want to impinge upon your society, but it is very important we find out why the borg want you back, and why know" The woman said nothing and turned the other way a moment. "This is vital, if you know anything let us know." With a heavy sigh Lyra nodded "Okay. This is it. We are a colony at peace we have a quiet life own of simple existence. We were of course borg. I was on the cube that attacked the sector, except I was one of who were stranded at the battle, me and my unimatrix boarded the USS Kyshu, The Captain scuttled her before we gained control and unable to return to the cube before it left we escaped to the planet, we could feel the link weakening with every minute and then when the cube was gone we were alone." "That doesnt tell me much more than I knew" The womans eyes methis a moment and then she looked away. "What you dont know is that the cubes previous assignement had been to an interspatial rift - a rift that had lead to fluidic space. We were the first cube to enter it, we discovered very little and took extensive samples. For some reason the samples couldnt be assimilated or analysed in our usual methods. After the battle had settled the data terminal with all the information was found on the planet, we discovered that its network connector had never been added to the collective. The Information never got there. I m guessing that something in those files are of great value to the borg." Magellan took a seat a moment and assimilated this information himself. The borg were no doubt planning a move on Species 8472 and needed the data to develop a new weapon. The data was still on the planet a borg vessel was obviously on the way. What to do? Magellan stood up. "Thankyou, I may need to talk to you again." He left the room and tapped his comm badge "Brdige, get me Commodore Loskene and Captain Vreenak, I want a senior staff meeting as soon as possible. We ll use the mess hall on the Vic" "AYe Sir"
Strife didn't have a clue what was going on she felt like she was burning hot and her insides were being lit on fire. She her mind she screamed, she could hear Gibson's voice being calling out to hear she tried to shout help to him She started to shake violently and had the sensation of being picked up she tried to tell him that holding her was painful but she could't control her shaking She could hear the CMO and gibson talking then darkness took her
When she awoke The CMO talked to her , "It's ok I slowed the poision down "
Strife only left out a wimper it hurt to much
Next thing she knew T'ale and loskene was looking down on her
The CMO looked somber at Loskene and T'ale " For me to treat this poison is to have it concentate it in one spot in her body and the rmove it but she will need blood in the process .. or for most likely she will die"
Loskene shook his head grimly "there are no other Trill on this ship"
"What about Megellan" T'ale said
"He is the closest relitive compatible that she has it's it" the CMO said
"Cousins I belive" Loskene said wondering why he didn't think of it before Loskense nodded "I will contact him immidedtely and alert him of the situation
Mike didn’t want to waste any more time so he continued immediately. “As you can see”, Mike addressed Lt. Gibson, “Orko can hover and thus fly using his gravity inverter and so reach places that normal humanoid can’t. He is originally one of the tactical drones form Arvada II. You know what happened in the Arvada system?” “Yes.”, replied Gibson, “There were two civilizations in that system but they destroyed each other in a great war.” “Correct.”, continued Mike, “The only thing they left behind were these drones on both planets. It is assumed that these were the cause of their destruction. They wiped each other out with these robots. As a kid I traveled to Arvada II with my parents, both scientists assigned to an exploration mission, and there I got Orko as a burned out drone. Over the years I managed to replace all of his burned out systems with parts from all over the universe: Klingon, Ferengi, Iridian, Andorian etc.” “Well that’s all nice but what makes him so special?”, asked Gibson tired of Mike’s history lesson. “I was about to get to that.”, said Mike, “You see it appears that Arvadian technology was somewhat more advance or different in approach then ours. Orko’s sensors, becouse they are one of the original Arvadian systems that didn't burn out, can scan Borg shields, or any other for that matter, and determine their frequency and modulation. ” “So what are you saying?”, Gibson hurried Mike, he wanted to get back to his duties as soon as possible. “I’m saying that he can adapt his weapons for each individual Borg drone regardless of the phasor frequency previously used.”, said Mike. “So, no matter what, he can find a hole in their shields.” “Yes. Let me demonstrate.”, Mike said and addressed the computer, “Computer create 5 Borg drones, each with a different, random personal shield frequency.” The computer created the drones on the holodeck and it was ready for the demonstration. Then Mike addressed Orko and the computer with Aral standing on the side waiting: “Computer, engage simulation. Orko destroy the drones.” Orko turned to the drones and hovered around them for a second or two, examining them. The next moment he started shooting at drones. To everyone’s amassment not one shot missed or was repelled by the shield. Weapon shots went through the shields like they weren’t there. After eliminating all the drones Orko returned to Mike’s side. “Impressive.”, said Lt. Gibson. “And that’s not all. Watch what happens if they try to overrun him.”, said Mike and gave the adequate orders to the computer. The next moment 10 Borg drones were standing in a circle around Orko. Mike engaged the program and the drones started to reach for Orko but suddenly, out of a small crack that went around Orko’s bottom part, some kid of a liquid started squirting and the drones started screaming and sizzling. The next minute they were all on the flour. “Antiorganic acid. It doesn’t damage inorganic substances but completely dissolves any organic material it falls on. An as you know, no matter how advance the Borg might be, they need their organic parts.” Mike finished and they stooped for a minute, watching the faces of the Borg turning into liquid goo. The site was monstrous, and the thought that this was the work of a single drone, scary. “So, Lt.? Will you use him?”, said Mike and waited for Gibsons response.
Commodore Loskene boarded the Victory for the senior meeting. He was anxious to hear what the admiral had to say. Magellan was waiting outside of the situation room.
Magellan: Ah, Commodore. Welcome to the Victory...again.
Loskene: Hello sir. Before we begin this meeting, there is something you should know.
Magellan: Yes...?
Loskene: You're cousin is lying in sickbay and she is not doing well.
Magellan: Cousin?
Loskene: Cavit.
Magellan: Ugh...
Loskene: Indeed.
Magellan: I didn't think you'd find out about our...relationship. So... What is wrong with her?
Loskene: I'm not too sure. She has been poisoned, and we are about to begin the draining of the poison from her bloodstream. She needs blood, trill blood to be exact.
Magellan: I see. Once the meeting is ajourned, I'll beam aboard and we can begin the operation.
Loskene: Very good, sir.
Magellan: How are you doing?
Loskene: The same...
Magellan: Don't worry, the Borg won't stand a chance against us...
Just as Felix , Samantha and Lasouux began work on shield frequencys , a call came:
=/\=All senior staff report to the messhall.=/\=
As they heard the message Sama and Felix procede out of the lab leaving Lasouux to fifnish up a few things. They procede to the lift and entered it.
"Messhall"
As the lift was going they began to talk about their work on the antiborg defences and considering the use of phased torpedos so they decided to bring it up at the meeting.
Shortly after the lift stopped and they exited and headed to the messhall. They were not late they have arrived just before Magellan and Loskene entered the room , but the meeting has not started yet because the rest of the crew have not yet arrived.
While they were waiting Sam and Felix were preparing a report on antiborg defences and the phased torpedos to present , as some of the other crewmembers might have other ideas.
Aral scratched his chin. That reminded him, he needed a shave, he hadn't gotten a chance once he found Cavit.
"I'd be glad to have him, Mike." Aral smiled at the Science officer.
"Call me when he is needed , Lt, wont you?"
"Sure, thing. Orko will be a fine addition to the Security team."
Mike smiled, "I shou-" he began before both of their combadges began to sound.
"Gibson here/ Pasek here." They both said, tapping their combadges.
"Orders from Captain Loskene- 'All senior staff members report to transport room to beam abourd the Victory to attend mission breifing.'"
"Understood." They both made their way toward the transporter padd. Mike instructed Orko to join them and enter Mike's quarters as they went by them. ************************************ The messhall of the Victory was held by the 2 groups of senior staff members. Loskene and Magellan stood at the front of the room speaking in serious voices. Mike and Aral took a seat by 2 busy looking officers, discussing a very complicated plan.
" 'lo there. I'm Aral Gibson CTSO." Aral said extending his hand to one of them. She smiled, and shook his hand.
"I'm Michael Pasek, CScO." Mike also shook her hand.
"I'm Samantha Parker, CEO, and this is Felix Savali, COO. Nice to meet you." They all exchanged more handshakes.
"Any idea what this is about?" Aral asked.
"No not really, its a breifing. I guess thats why we are here, to find out." Felix said.
Mike nodded, "Must be pretty important though, to gather us all here."
Then the 2 captains called silence.
The El Salvador dropped out of warp and silently entered the Wolf 359 setting heading towards the Victory and Jefferson and maximum impulse.
Vreenak: “Commander Agalacticae, hail the Victory and inform them of our arrival”
Agalacticae: “Aye sir”
Agalacticae immediately relayed the message to the Victory and only minutes after they were close enough for the senior staff to beam aboard the Vic to attend the meeting Admiral Lin had called for.
=/\= Vreenak to all senior officers – meet me in transporter room one in 5 minutes =/\=
Handing his baby (the El Sal) over to the Ensign once again Agalacticae started heading for the transporter room, where the rest of the senior staff was gathered. Commander Agalacticae could not help thinking about what was so important to recall the El Sal to the planet and feared the worst. Hopefully the information Lt. Kivan and Lt. Cmdr. Savot revealed from the Borg communication device could shed some light on what was going on. Trying to make sense of the current mission Agalacticae got to the mess hall of the Victory like on auto-pilot, only realizing he had arrived there by the huge amount of gold pips sparkling.
Captain Vreenak immediately joined Admiral Lin and Commodore Loskene in their conversation. Looking around the room, trying to figure out who everyone was, Commander Agalacticae soon gave up, heading to the nearest window to enjoy the view until the mission briefing would begin.
Space seemed darker than ever with the presence of the Borg on his mind. To distract him self from the thought he focused on the two ships close to the Victory, imagining how often he would look from the Nebula-class flag ship on both a Sovereign and Prometheus class starship. A faint smile flashed over Agalacticae’s face, he had only been on the El Sal for a short while but already she appeared more beautiful to him than the other vessels. With the presence of the three starships he tried to persuade himself that they would be reasonably prepared, well aware of the fact that history had a different story to tell.
Just when his thought were about to wander of to the disaster at Wolf 359 Admiral Lin – heading the three captains – began the briefing.
Just before Magellan opened his mouth to start speaking, Vreenak raised his hand.
"Admiral, if I may before you begin?" the trill nodded slightly, "Thank you. We have recently acquired some new information. As you know, we recently were forced to destroy a borg sphere. At the time we destroyed it, it was transmitting a message back to the delta quadrant. Luckily we managed to destroy it before this information was transmitted. However, because they are all linked, the loss of the sphere will have been noticed. We managed to surmise from what we have that additional reinforcements are likely."
The two commanding officers beside Vreenak glanced at each other before Magellan addressed him.
"Thank you for that information, now..."
With Vreenaks warning given he took a seat at the front of the room. VA Magellan stood in the centre before a large tactical screen, Capt Vreenak sat on one side, Commodore Loskene on the other. He sat in his human form but seemed very uncomfortable, his skin not its usual colour. Magellan cleared his throat and clicked a small device in his hand, a projection of the Star system appeared. "As you are all aware. This planet is an ex-borg colony. A colony containing research vital to the Borg. Research that is in fact also vital to the continuing good health of Commodore Loskene and the security of the Federation. The Jefferson engaged the borg here" He pointed to a regionon the map, "And the El Salvador encountered Scouts and A sphere here and here. It is clear that a more significant tactical element is likely to arrive. More than likely a cube. We have a number of serious issues to cover here. We are three ships. 3 against a cube are not good odds in the slightest. We will have to rely on cunning rather than brute force. The Jefferson and El Salvador are both combat capable ships, the Victory less so but I believe I have developed a strategy. Priority 1 is getting the files on the planet. That mission will be led by Commander Agalacticae he will be accompanied by Lieutenants Felix and Parker from the Victory and the Bajoran colonist Tal Lyra. You will recover the files copy them and destroy the originals, under no circumstances must it fall in to borg hands." The appointed staff nodded. Magellan continued. "To deal with the cube, and it will come. We will form up around the Victory. Savali and Parker have developed a new torpedo system that will need integration in to your systems. When the cube attacks its main priority will be the colony so we have an advantage. The El Salvador shoul enter Multi vector assault mode and harry the cube. The Victory will support. The Jefferson has greater shield capacity and so will close with the ship, once inside its shields Commodore Loskene will orgnaise a boarding party to disable the cube and retrieve any information the borg may have on his condition. With all files gained and the cube disabled we will then assertain the next course of action. For this mission Commander Walker will captain the Victory." Walker looked up startled, "Me sir." "Yes. Steve will be your XO. I have another role. I will be transporting aboard the Jefferson. My cousin, Strife will die within the next couple of hours unless she gains a transfusion of my blood. Even if the operation is complete before the attack, I would be a liability. Therefore overall tactical command will fall to Commodore Loskene up until the boarding action when Captain Vreenak will assume it. May which ever gods you believe in go with you and bring us victory this day. Any questions if not your dismissed."
Samantha and Felix walked out of the meeting and Robert caught up behind them
They entered the turbolift.
"Transporter room 2," requested Robert.
"So are you nervous about this away mission?", Robert asked as the lift was going
"Abit," answered Sam
"Not that much, just that i dont like the Borg too much", answered Felix
"No-one does," Robert said with a smile.
And just as he said that the lift came to a stop and they exited , and went towards transporter room 2.
"Are you nerves?" Samantha asked Robert.
But before he could answer a joung ensign came to them carying some equiptement they would need , including the modified phasers , some engineering equptement and some things they might need to access the data.
Samantha attracked the tricorder and the phaser to her uniform and straped the phaser rifle to her backpack which contained a tool kit and some extra equirtment and put it on her back.
The other two also picked up there equirtment and they entered transporter room 2.
When they entered Lt Duchek(Npc) and T'San(npc) were already waiting for them armed with the modified phaser riffles.
And as they were about to step on te platform Lasouux came and gave a little case to Felix.
Felix:"Thanx i didnt think you would make it."
Lasooux:"No problem it was only a few minute for me sir"
Lasooux stepped away over to the officer operation the transporter.
"Engize," ordered Robert. A few second later the transporter room fizzed away and the transporter room on the El Salvador slowly came into view.
After the briefing Mike returned to the bridge of the Jefferson where he found Telak(NPC) and Tomora(NPC) were going about their business and assignments as usual. “Telak, Tomora report.” He said in a hurry the news of the Borg sightings made him very nervous and the thought of a cube nearby made him even uneasier. “No changes sir.”, reported Telak and Tomora. “Good. Ensigns, we have a lot of work to do. We need to make this ship borg-proof. Telak, find me all the schematics we have on Borg ships, especially their computer systems. Tomora we need all the data on the Borg we can get. Run through the archives and try to find records of previous dealings with the Borg and how were the situations handled. I’ll be in the Bio-chem lab on deck 7. I’ll be going through the bio medical profiles of species assimilated by the Borg and the Borg its self. I’ll try to find a way the most efficient way to destroy the biological part of the Borg, just in case we won’t be able to destroy the mechanical part.” Mike said in one breath while he checked the consoles and headed to the turbolift. Telak and Tomora only had the time to say: “Aye sir.” before the doors of the turbolift closed. In 5 minutes Mike was already in the lab going through the data. There was so much of it that he thought that he’ll die going through it. And to make things even worse he didn’t have any idea where to begin. All the drones have personal shields witch makes the standard phasor approach inefficient. An airborne virus could do the trick but there is a problem with his own crew. If they had to beam aboard an effected ship they might be affected to. Besides it takes some time for the virus to infect and kill and they needed something that would work there and then. Mike was sitting in the lab examining the data when his commbadge sounded. =/\= Pasek here. =/\= =/\= Sir, it’s Telak. I found some data but I think that’s not all. I’ll continue looking but I thought you might want to get started on that computer system data. It seemed very important to you. =/\= Mike was amazed how quick Telak was. =/\= Excellent work ensign. Send it to me. =/\= Telak transferred the data to Mike’s console and Mike notified him back. =/\= Thank you ensign. Great job. You surprised me with your speed. =/\= =/\= Thank you sir. Telak out. =/\= Mike started going through the data and it was clear immediately that this will take a lot longer then he thought. Not wanting to waste any more time Mike got to work.
Listening to Admiral Lin’s assessment of the situation and the possibility of a Borg Cube arriving in the system not exactly comforted Commander Agalacticae. While he tried to figure out what the Borg were up to, analyzing the information of the three vessels presented by Admiral he also heard his name mentioned. Surprised by the fact that Magellan had chosen him to be in charge of the team to obtain the Borg data on the planet he realized what burden had been laid on his shoulders. It was not simply a matter of either retrieving the information or destroying it – the heath and possibly the life of Commodore Loskene was at stake as well. Wondering what information could be so essential for the Commodore’s health he listened to the rest of the briefing. At the end of the briefing Commander Agalacticae approached Lt. Salvali and Lt. Parker to give them further instructions.
Agalacticae: “Lt. Salvali, Lt. Parker – pleased to meet you. I am Commander Agalacticae. First thing I want you to do is to inform Tal Lyra of her assignment. Feel free to make all the preparations you deem necessary for our mission, while I will discuss matters with Commodore Loskene. I will catch up with you later. Dismissed.”
Both Lieutenants looked surprised, when Commander Agalacticae had finished his more than short mission briefing. He knew that they did not know him and that they now certainly did not have a clue of what to think of him. But there probably would be time for formalities later, Agalacticae thought to himself, heading towards Loskene.
Agalacticae: “Commodore, can I have a word with you? It is about the data on the planet that concerns your health?
Loskene: “Sure, Commander – but we will have to make it short. Time is precious!”
Agalacticae: “Couldn’t agree more. Can you tell me what information we should be looking for concerning your heath? I would like to make extraction of that part of the data my first priority.”
Loskene: “You see Commander, as I am species 8472 my exposure to stellar space results in a destabilization of my molecular structure. While I was on the planet the borg offered me a cure – a chamber that could regenerate my cells. That is all I can tell you Commander”
Agalacticae: “Very well, sir. Now we have an idea what we are looking for. I cannot tell you not to worry but only assure you to do my best to retrieve the information necessary for your cure.”
With these words Agalacticae left to catch up with Lt. Salvali and Lt. Parker on their way to the transporter room. Agalacticae could sense how nervous everyone was, including himself. He tried to hide his own anxiety about the mission to provide some comfort to the rest of the crew but apparently it did not work as well as he had hoped with Lt. Parker asking whether he was nervous. Arriving in the transporter room they were joined by the bajoran colonist Tal Lyra, who transported to the El Salvador with them.
Commander Agalacticae had decided to take a shuttle to the planet instead of transporting directly to give his team a wider range of operations. With a shuttle the team would be independent from the presence of the starships in orbit. In case of a Borg attack, with shields raised none of the vessels would have the possibility of beaming the away team back on board. And being a pilot himself Agalacticae would get the chance to make a run for it until one of the starships would be able to pick them up at a later time.
Boarding the shuttle with the rest of the team Agalacticae took the pilot’s seat to prepare the shuttle for take-off. Opening the large doors of the docking bay to space he contacted both Commodore Loskene and Captain Vreenak.
=/\= Commander Agalacticae to Commodore Loskene, requesting permission to head for the planet =/\=
=/\= Permission granted Commander. Good luck. Loskene out. =/\=
=/\= Captain Vreenak to Shuttle Agamemnon. You are cleared to take her out. Good luck Commander =/\=
With these words Agalacticae engaged the thrusters of the shuttle and they were heading for the planet. It was good to pilot a shuttle again he thought to himself. He loved piloting small vessels with high maneuverability but refrained from trying a few of his favorite maneuvers, considering the other crewmembers stomaches… After a short and smooth ride the Agamemnon sat down in reasonable distance from the buildings and the team gathered outside the shuttle.
Agalacticae: “Listen up, people!” "Lt. Duchek, you stay here guarding the shuttle and monitoring communications from both us and the starships in orbit. If anything unusual happens or you get orders from Commodore Loskene or Captain Vreenak, inform me immediately. Lieutenants Salvali, Parker and T’San as well as Tal Lyra, you will come with me to locate the computer core and extract the necessary information. Lt. Salvali, I want you to work closely together with Tal Lyra to locate the computer core and find the safest way for us to access it. You will also be in charge of defending us – if necessary - while we are extracting the data. T’San, you will assist Lt. Salvali. Lt. Parker, I have already heard of your skills on your training mission and have great comfort in you to retrieve the data from the computer core. Please pay especially attention to any data relating to species 8472 and a “regeneration chamber”. It is imperative that we retrieve this information first. If possible I would like this to be a “silent” operation, avoiding any confrontation as long as possible. Finally, as the officer in charge of this mission I want you to run things by me before you attempt anything unusual. I don’t like surprises coming from my crew. Understood?"
Everyone nodded into Agalacticae’s direction after his little speech. He hated to point out that he was the one in charge – it always made him feel kind of stupid pulling rank. But as he also was responsible of their safety on this mission it was imperative that he at any time knew what his people were doing…
Commodore Loskene went to the conference room. All of the bridge crew were assembled there.
Loskene: At ease everyone. I have come to tell who will be sent to the Borg cube when it arrives in the system. I haven't much time, I have my own work to do. Alright, here is the plan. Lieutenant Gibson, you will lead the mission to the Cube. I know Lieutenant Pasek is busy, you shall remain aboard...Reluctantly, I shall to... I will not be able to fight at maximum effiency. Mr. Gibson, assemble a reasonable strike force and inform me when you are ready to go into action.
Gibson: Yes sir!
Loskene: Commander T'Ale, in the event that I am too ill to perform my duties, I want you to take command of the small fleet.
T'Ale: Aye sir.
Loskene: Good. And Admiral Magellan will be here shortly to assist in the blood transfusion. Dismissed.
Everyone swarmed out of the room and Loskene remained for a minute, it pained him to move... Once he got down to the bio lab, he would revert.
The walk to the bio lab was only a few decks away, but to Loskene, it may have just as well been 30 decks. He finally reached the lab and finally reverted to his 8472 form. It felt better then the human form, but he was still in pain...
magellan took a last look around the bridge. "very well Commander Shes all yours. Take Care of her" Walker gave him a nod and a slight grin, "Of course sir." Magellan regarded his first officer a moment and then entered the turbolift. The descent to the transporter room was a long and nervous one. He was extremly apprehensive about the procedure. He knew it was only a simple transfusion, nevertheless medical intervention usually affected him greater, each time Lin gained a great grip on him. Over the weeks he had been able to subdue, no that was the wrong word, soothe. Soothe Lins concerns and regain the balance in their symbiosis. He knew deep down however that if the problem kept up he would need to return to Trill and face the music. He knew the Symbiosis Commission would not be pleased with his actions and that he hadnt told them earlier. That bridge would have to be crossed if and when he reached it. He entered the transporter room and took a deep breath. "Beam me over Chief" The man acknowldeged and in a shimmer the world before him shifted to teh Jefferson. He was met by an ensign who led him swiftly to the sickbay. On the journey Magellans mind continued to whir. Here he was trapped into helping a cousin when he was needed. He had commited the ultimate sin - to send men out to die whilst he would not be with them, well in body but not in spirit. If the Jefferson were destroyed he would be just as dead as the rest of them. He entered the sickbay and saw Strife lying on a biobed, she looked up weakly with bloodshot sunken eyes. Although a cousin they hardly knew each other, their familys whilst not estranged were hardly best of friends, perhaps this was the chance for them to put bygones behind them and achieve something their parents could not. The doctor led him to a room where he changed into a surgical gown and was led out in to a surgical ward. He was seated on a bio bed and was adminstered with an anasthetic. Slowly he reclined and pulled his feet round. The world before him began to blurr in to a fuzzy mirage before it tunneled down to blackness and oblivion.
Vreenak was checking through the specifics of the battle tactics. All things considered, it seemed a very gutsy plan. However, it did have promise, and Vreenak couldn't see any sound reason that it wouldn't work. He had spent the time since the meeting liasing with his officers, and checking the status of every system on the ship, no matter how unimportant it was. All they had found wrong so far was a blocked laundry tube. With Commander Agalacticae in charge of his own side mission, Vreenak felt that preperation was going well, however, there did seem to be room in the attack for one more ship...
Vreenak's fingers flew over the small console on the armrest of his seat, and within a minute, the familiar face of Captain Ryan was on the main viewer.
"Trylak. We're getting tangled with the Borg, I wondered if you wanted to come along for the ball?"
"You know me, always up for a fight. We'll make our best speed back, but I'm not sure when we'll be there, we're having a few problems with the core."
"Well, even if you only make it in time to sweep up our remains, you'll be welcome. I'd have a chat, but we're a bit busy preparing. Vreenak out." The screen changed back to the starscape in front of the ship, with the planet showing to one corner.
A reasonable strike force? Aral considered what the commodore had meant by that. Well on a well staffed ship that would of meant about the size of the delta shift security team. But on the understaffed Jefferson? That means basicly the whole security detatchment. He contacted his team, they were ready to go on a moments notice.
Aral entered the bridge, and stepped up next to the commodore, he looked weak, very weak, he had just come back from his rest, and it didn't look like it helped much. He stood next to his honorable captain, and said in a slightly hoarse voice,
"We're ready."
Mike was already in the lab for an hour when Tomora(NPC) call him through the commsystem. He was trying to think of a way to destroy a Borg as quick as possible but he came to the same conclusion over and over again. =/\= Tomora to Lt. Pasek. =/\= =/\= Go ahead, ensign. =/\= =/\= We finished the extraction of the data you requested. =/\= =/\= Excellent. =/\= =/\= I’ll send it to the lab right away. =/\= =/\= Oh, please could you come down here and bring it your self? I need someone to bounce my ideas off. =/\= Tomora entered the lab a few minutes later with the data on three pads. She looked somewhat proud because she was chosen for this task and not anyone else. She gave her pads to Mike with a smile and asked: “You wanted to see me, sir?” “Yes I did.”, Mike replied looking at the pads with a frown on his face. He was not too happy about the extra work. “Tell me”, he continued, “in your opinion what would be the best way to deal with these things?” “Sir?”, Tomora asked since the question was really to general for a straightforward answer. “If you were standing in front of a drone, how would you kill it? I’m asking for the quickest and the easiest way. And you can speak freely, please drop the formal tone.” “Well, since there are problems with our conventional beam weapons, I would probably try using brut force.” “My thought exactly.”, said Mike with a certain enthusiasm in his voice, “but how does an average humanoid overpower a Borg drone? Those implants of theirs make them 2 or 3 times stronger than an average human.” “Well maybe some form of martial art would do the trick. Something like Klingon techniques with a bat’leth or something else. Bare hands are not much of a weapon against the Borg.” Mike stood for a moment and then smiled: “Too bad they don’t teach Klingon techniques at the Academy.” Tomora smiled back. “Well what can we do then to those blasted ships of theirs.”, Mike said while he downloaded the data from the pads to the computer in the lab. “Well, we know that all systems are spread throughout the Borg ship.”, said Tomora with a sad face,“We can’t target one part of the ship and knock out say, engineering.” Mike and Tomora stood in silence for a moment. Mike was looking at the data on the screen trying to find something that might help them to at least stir up some problems for the Borg. But nothing, everything was so randomized around the ship that there wasn’t anything to target in such a way so it would be destroyed with a strong enough blow. The only thing the ships had in common were the materials that they were made of. “Material.”, Mike said as a twinkle appeared in his eyes. Tomora looked at him somewhat confused. “Material, sir?”, she asked. “Yes, yes materials! Every material has its specific qualities, like weight, thickness, elasticity. Maybe we could use that. The ships are always made out of the same materials, so the weapon would be useful against any ship of the same material.”, Mike said and started pulling out from the archives some data. “What are you looking for?”, asked Tomora. “Just following a hunch.”, Mike said and continued his work. Tomora looked over his shoulder and she couldn’t believe her eyes. Mike was pulling out the data on some 20th century scientist. The data was about harmonics and resonance. “You see, I heard about this guy in my EM field studies at the academy. Anyway, he did a whole lot in the field of resonance and harmonics and was quite an important guy in his time. It is said that he made a whole building shake with a device he called a “mechanic resonator”, a very simple device that was the size of a phasor so it would be easy to hide.” Tomora thought that Mike had gone bananas but soon Mike found the data he was looking for. “See hear, later it came to be a known fact that each material has its own mechanical resonant frequency.”, Mike said with a great enthusiasm in his voice. “At that frequency, the material in question starts vibrating and if the input of pulses continues the vibrations become so strong and violent that they tear the object made of that material apart.” “So if we find that frequency for say the structural elements and if we applied it we would be able to tear the cube into little pieces no mater how big they are.”, said Tomora smiling. “Exactly.”, said Mike. Tomora opened her mouth to say something but Mike didn’t give her a word more: “No time to waist, let’s get to work finding that frequency.”
Commodore Loskene tried to work in the lab but he could no longer take it. He got up and exited the room. He began to run into the corridor, in his 8472 form. Loskene approached an entrance to an air lock. He tried reaching for the airlock button.
Lieutenant Gibson was walking down the corridor to inform Loskene of his preparedness. He spotted Loskene at the airlock.
Gibson: Sir?? What are you doing?!
Loskene tried to work the controls and Aral tried to stop him. Loskene communicated telepatically to Aral. Aral reacted with a sharp pain in his head.
Gibson: Ugh...!
Loskene: <Lieutenant, I must...get out!>
Gibson: Sir, what will that solve?
Loskene: <I must get back to fluidic space!>
Gibson: There are no gateways here sir... Please, let me take you to sickbay.
Loskene: <No....>
Several security officers approached Gibson's position.
Gibson: Stand back, all of you!
Loskene ran in the other direction, deeper into the corridor.
Gibson: ...Commodore... We must find some way to sedate him...
Security: We could set weapons to stun and-
Gibson: Out of the question.
Gibson and his men rounded the corner and saw Loskene, lying unconscious in the corridor.
Gibson: Help me get him to sickbay.
Gibson and the security force hurried Loskene to sickbay.
Dr. Mantero (NPC): My God... Help me get him on a bio bed. How--
Gibson: He fell unconscious.
Mantero (NPC): We must get the Commodore into stasis, stat!
The nurses quickly got to work.
Gibson: How is the transfusion going?
Mantero (NPC): It is about to begin...
Gibson: The Cube will be here soon, let's get some good weapons, everyone!
Tomora(NPC) and Mike were huffing and puffing around the lab working on their new Borg fighting technique. Tomora had a lot of question since it was very strange to her how could Mike trust a piece of technology that was invented almost 5 centuries ago. Mike answered her questions as they went along but he promised that he’ll also prove his theory with an experiment. “Tomora, transfer the metallurgical specifications of the structural elements of the Borg ship and replicate a cube from the same alloy. ” “How big does it have to be?” “It doesn’t matter, make it, say um…, 5×5×5 cm. That should be enough for a test.” Tomora got to the replicator and started working on her assignment while Mike put the finishing touches to the mechanical resonator. It was an out of date piece of technology, with big parts, no computer components or optic fibers. Basically, any schoolkid could build one from things he found at home. And that was what made Mike very happy and excited about the idea. Many good things were lost in the mists of time even dough the things that came after never could replace the, should we call it, “old faithful”. And this thing was so simple Mike was almost embraced that after four years of Academy Science officer training he was dealing in things so crude as this. “The cube is ready.” “Good. Bring it here.”, said Mike closing a casing of the new resonator. The thing was 7 cm wide, 5 cm long and 3 cm thick. The small apparatus inside made it vibrate when it was turned on at the constant frequency and the frequency could be adjusted from a small console on top of it. On the side Mike installed two small magnetic clamps that would be used to stick the resonator to the metal piece that needed shaking. Finally Mike sealed the case shut with a metal fusing device. Tomora brought the cube to the table in front of Mike and he put the device on the cube and attached it with the clamps. “Now, lets see what the frequency should be.”, said Mike and started doing the necessary calculations on the console to the right. Tomora watched as Mike used several metallurgical constants and input them into the calculation. “Hmm, it seem that this is not going to be easy.”, said Tomora, and she was right. Since the alloy the Borg used was somewhat odd the calculation couldn’t be accurate. Usually, this calculation wasn’t used because these frequencies were always obtained through experiment and it often happened that the results of the equation ant the results of the tests weren’t the same. To put it simple, the equation was made with some leeway in mind. “Well, we’ll simply find it manually. Besides the calculation gave us a frame to work in: from 5500 to 5700 Hz.” Mike activated the resonator and set it to the starting frequency: “Ok, we’ll start with 5500. We’ll increase it every 5 minutes. By then there should be signs of at least some activity. We’ll increase it by 5 Hz, that way we won’t waste to much time and still we won’t miss the right frequency. ” “Aye sir.”, said Tomora not to optimistic. To her it seemed like using a hammer to realign the warp core. Minutes passed but Mike didn’t give up hope. After an hour there were still no results and the whole thing just became exhausting. Tomora looked fatigued and Mike looked more disappointed by the minute. But the relief came quickly. For when they hit 5575 Hz the cube started dancing around on the table, shaking in the rhythm of the vibrations. “We’re close.”, said Mike with that mad scientist look on his face. He begun changing the frequency one Hz at a time. When they hit 5578 the cube just stooped shaking and sat still on the table. Mike was about to call it quits when suddenly the cube started vibrating, accompanied by a strange humming noise. The next thing Mike and Tomora saw incredible. A cube made of metal was now wobbling like it was made of jelly. The vibrations got stronger by the moment. Finally, after approximately 7 minutes the cube split in two. Mike and Tomora were speechless. That cube was made of full metal and it split apart like it never was in one piece. “We have it!”, jumped Mike very happy, “Now, how shall we get this to the Borg cube? We could send it with the away team so they attach it.” “Or we can modify a class 3 probe. It can land softly and then attach it self to the hull of the Borg vessel. We just need to install a few magnetic clamps to it.” “But won’t the Borg detect the probe as it approaches?”, wondered Mike. “The probably will, but it is not a threat. It has no weapons, no shields so they’ll probably ignore it. Besides, there will be two starships to attract their attention and keep them busy.” “Let’s just hope you’re right. Besides, we must run this idea by the captain first. We need his authorization.”
