Kirk strained to hear what he head heard before, but the only thing coming back over the radio was white noise. Finally giving up Kirk turned down his COM system back to its normal levels. He knew he had heard something, something faint but it was there and he wanted to find it.
Kirk took a step forward when he felt his foot losing traction; quickly using his good arm Kirk braced himself up against the wall. His breathing heavy he was worried he might have fallen into another deep cavern, but upon inspection he saw that it was only one large rock that was under his foot.
"Are you alright Commander?" Amhil asked.
Kirk knew he was not alright, his armed was broken, his head was spinning from the pain and he had a hard time focusing because of the high ambient EM levels that were robbing the nano probes of their precious living giving energy. He knew he would have to regenerate long before he needed a new oxygen tank.
"I think it would be best if we just press..."Kirk started but was cut off as he felt the the wall rumbling again, and just as suddenly as it started it stopped.
Fearing they might be caved in by another tremor Kirk started to quickly make his way back the way they came. Each stepped felt heavier than the last but in a matter of minutes they were just outside the large room in which they had fallen into.
"Comm...Pes....you...order?" Kirk heard in broken bursts through his COM system.
Kirk saw distinct lights dance around the pitch black room, the helmet lights from their suits, it had to be T'Brel and Commander Thirteen.
"T'Brel?" Kirk called out into his COM system.
"Jon!" T'Brel replied quickly.
Seconds later the away team was finally reunited. They both saw each team had taken a beating, Kirk's arm was placed in a make shift splint, and Thirteen appeared to be with out his eye sight.
"Are you guys alright?" Kirk asked knowing they must have fallen through the same hole.
"Not bad." T'Brel replied casually, "Where are we?"
"No idea," Kirk said, "But we were heading this way when I felt the hallway rumble." Kirk finished as he pointed back the way he and Amhil had come.
"Lets press on then." Thirteen ordered.
Amhil and Kirk took the lead when suddenly lights began to dance around the massive room. This time these lights appeared to have intent behind them as they were not the white color the other lights were, these lights danced around the room in a brilliant red color.
"I think we better get moving." T'Brel said feeling the anxiety of the group.

The away team had managed to reassemble. Thirteen was glad he and T'Brel had found Jonathan and Amhil. It was Amhil who relieved T'Brel by taking over support of the blind ex-Borg. Kirk took the lead, and Thirteen let Amhil guide him through the room. "These are different," Thirteen muttered. "Sorry commander, what?" Kirk asked. "I have lost my eyesight, but I can sense the presence of these entities. I felt them in the main hall, the entities. Now I feel them too, but it feels different, stronger if I am to describe it."
"I doubt that's a good sign," T'Brel said. "Lets press on," Amhil added. The group reached the other end of the room, which was oval shaped. "Great," T'Brel said, "there are four corridors we can enter." "We can't split up again now," Kirk said. "We've got only one hour of oxygen left!" Amhil said, sounding worried, "we must do something!" "Obviously," T'Brel said. "Any ideas commander?" Kirk asked Thirteen, who needed a few seconds to realize the Jonathan was asking him.
Thirteen was silent for a while. "One of the corridors feels different," he finally said, "the electromagnetic radiation coming from it is distinctly different from that of the other corridors." "Do you want us to go in there sir?" Kirk asked. "I will let you decide on that, all I can tell you is what I perceive without my eye sight, but I am not fit to judge in this situation."

Amhil was glad to see that T´Brel and Thirteen were still all right. ´well, mostly all right.´ She thought, as Thirteen revealed he had lost his eyesight. She saw T'Brel's tired look and guessed he had been helping Thirteen all this time. Amhil rushed to relieve him of the burden and put one of Thirteen´s arms over her shoulder to help guide him through the ruins that were turning out to be a maze. She watched as T´Brel fuzzed over Jonathan, clearly worried seeing his friend in such a bad state. Amhil had noticed Kirk´s decline, too, and had grown more worried about him as they had explored the room. She hoped that at least for Kirk's sake, they would get out of here soon.
Now, they made their way further into the massive room when suddenly Amhil caught a glimpse of light in the corner of her eye. She looked up and noticed light appearing in the room, seemingly pouring in from somewhere. They danced around, their red light casting an eerie light around the away team that made them all feel uncomfortable. Even Thirteen sensed their presence.
“These are different.” He announced, looking as alarmed as an ex-Borg could be.
“Sorry, Commander, what?” Kirk asked, surprised that Thirteen had noticed the lights as well. The group soon decided to press on, somehow feeling threatened by these new lights. Amhil noticed she had the same fascination for the lights as the ones that had been in hall earlier. However, they seemed to be distracting because of their potential danger, causing a negative fascination that didn't help Amhil concentrate on the situation at hand. She noticed they had come to the end of the room, where 4 corridors lead into the darkness beyond.
“We can't split up now!” Kirk said, making it clear the officers had to choose one corridor and stick to it. Amhil knew the pressure of the choice, and she was worried they'd make the wrong decision. “We've only got one hour of oxygen left” She added, making sure they wouldn't decide too carelessly,
Thirteen was silent for a while, contemplating the situation. Amhil's eyes travelled back towards the lights, hovering soundlessly above the ground. They almost seemed to be watching the officer's every move, awaiting their decision.
“Any ideas, Commander?” Amhil heard Kirk ask, but didn't pay much attention to it. Somehow she kept getting distracted and she stared at the lights as she noticed the coldness of the room seemingly seeping through the suit right into her bones. The feeling in her hands had gone, leaving such a numbness that she couldn't say if they were extremely cold or extremely warm. On top of that, the display of dancing lights was beginning to make her feel sleepy. She sluggishly moved her head back towards Thirteen as she registered somewhere in the back of her mind that he had started talking.
“...corridors feels different. The electromagnetic radiation coming from it is distinctively different from that of the other corridors.” He announced, causing Amhil to be amazed by how he could register these kind of things. “Do you want us to go in there, sir?” Kirk asked, not really knowing what he should do. “I'll let you decide on that, all I can tell you is what I perceive without my eye sight, but I am not fit to judge in this situation.”
“I think you're as fit to judge about this as any of us, sir.” Amhil said, looking back at the corridors. “We can't see much more than you can. They all look the same to me; dark and creepy. I think it's worth a shot.”

A euphoria of emotion rushed through T'Brel when he saw his best friend was okay. He had feared the worse and was glad to know that he was wrong. He was about to smile when he recomposed himself and continued to hold onto his commanding officer. Though for some reason the weight seemed to have lifted and it was only until T'Brel looked to his right did he see the reason.
"Thank you Amhil," T'Brel said as he went to check up on Jon, who of course would not let him.
"I'm okay, T'Brel, just a few scratches and stuff," Jon said.
"Do Borg get scratches?" T'Brel asked seriously. He genuinely wanted to know and was surprised when Jon gave a short laugh. The good feeling that T'Brel experienced when they first met up was long gone now and the fact that they must travel this maze of ruins wasn't making it anything easier. As the group made there way deeper into the ruins, T'Brel began to feel something very different. It kind of felt like the light entities they ran into earlier, but something was very different. T'Brel said nothing fearing that it was just his imagination.
Even though he was troubled by these feelings, the group continued on in silence. The only sound you could hear were there footsteps and heavy breathing. That all changed once they reached a large empty room. It was rather dark and it seemed that T'Brel was the only one that noticed a fork in the path. All of a sudden T'Brel felt the feeling again but this time it was much stronger. He then saw them, the lights, but these were different than the rest. They danced around, their red light casting an eerie light around the away team that made them all feel uncomfortable. The light that they gave off allowed the others to see the fork in the path.
“We can't split up now!” Kirk said which caused a resounding echo.
The lights were enchanting like the others, but there effect was much stronger. T'Brel could feel himself tremble, a feeling that he only experienced once before. ~Keep it under control, your dangerous if you loose control~
As the group debated which way they should go, T'Brel found himself gravitating towards the left corridor. Something was there, something was attracting his basic instincts.
He felt them like a jolt of lightning. They were coming and they would find them. They were hungry.
"Captain, we must head right, and we must hurry!" T'Brel yelled. This of course caused confusion in his crew mates, but T'Brel was adamant.
"John, I can't explain it right now, but I felt something, something is coming for us," T'Brel said before the entire cave system shook once more. They couldn't do anything to stop it, but T'Brel noticed that crevices under them were breaking and they were spuming some sort of gas. T'Brel immediately scanned and was surprised at his results.
"It's oxygen, it's breathable air and it's spreading," T'Brel said before he heard a loud roar in the distance. "Let's get out of here now!"

Thirteen eyed T'Brel suspiciously, but then it sank in. He realized that T'Brel felt the same things he did. The electromagnetic radiation from one of the corridors grew bigger all of a sudden. It felt like a wave that was coming for them, growing bigger and bigger as it approached. "Commander Peers is right," Thirteen shouted as he felt how the ground beneath his feet began to tremble.
Another deep, raw roar filled the air. The sound came from a lot closer this time, and the floor began trembling even more. "We must go, now!" Thirteen commanded. The officers started to run down the right corridor, as commander T'Brel had suggested. Thirteen tripped and stumbled as Amhil firmly pulled him along.
Whatever it was that was after them, by the sound of its roars it had now entered their corridor. The entire surroundings shook violently, and rocks came collapsing down from the ceiling. "Watch your step!" Kirk exclaimed from the front, as he evaded a piece of stone that had landed in front of him. "There!" T'Brel shouted as he pointed ahead, "light!"
"We must be reaching the end of this tunnel!" Kirk returned. "But wait - there's something - wrong," Amhil said panting. She was not used to running and dragging a heavy ex-Borg along at the same time. "It's getting smaller!" T'Brel said, "the light ahead is growing smaller, how is that possible?!" "We need to press on!" Kirk shouted, "it's the walls! They're closing in on us, literally!"

Going against all logic but following her instincts, Amhil was running as fast as she could away from the oxygen that was released from the ground. Dragging along a fairly heavy Thirteen, she tried to keep up with T'Brel and Kirk, who lead the way down into the dark tunnel. Both T'Brel and Thirteen had seemed pretty agitated and seemed to want to get away from the other tunnel as fast as possible. Now Amhil, too, felt the ground shake as loud roars came from behind them. The walls shook with the sound that even made Amhil´s brain rattle. With renewed strength she ran away from the sounds that was beginning to scare the wits out of her.
Large pieces of debris began raining down on them as the tunnel was on the verge of collapsing. A large boulder landed in front of Kirk, but without stopping he jumped over it and shouted over his shoulder to warn them. T'Brel followed suit and pointed in front of them. “There!” He yelled, “Light!”
“We must be reaching the end of the tunnel!” Kirk said, with visible relieve. However, when Amhil noticed the light she saw something very strange about it. It seemed to be growing more and more distant as they ran towards it. “There's...something...wrong!” She panted, wanting to warn the others.
“It's getting smaller!” T'Brel added, having noticed it, too. Kirk looked alarmed as he franticly began gesturing towards the walls. “It's the walls! They're closing in on us, literary!”
Alarmed, Amhil looked at them and noticed that indeed they were moving in on them. The tunnel was beginning to get smaller by the second and still the light at the end seemed far away. There was a small bit of relief somewhere in Amhil's panicked mind, though; if they would manage to reach the end of the tunnel in time, they wouldn't have to worry about whatever was following them for a while. It sounded big, so it either wouldn't take the risk of following them, or it would...but then there was a high change they didn't need to worry about it at all any more judging on the speed by which the walls were moving.
As the walls came uncomfortably close, Amhil abandoned supporting Thirteen from under his shoulders and simply began dragging him along by his hand. She felt him stumble multiple times, but the ex-Borg took big steps and avoided most of the rocks even without his eyesight. The only goal she had was reaching the light and when she finally saw Kirk's and T'Brel's forms disappear into the whiteness beyond she felt relieve wash over her. She pushed Thirteen forward with a lot of force and then followed him. They both landed on the floor and Amhil looked back in fear as a few moments later the walls closed themselves unceremoniously with a loud click behind them.
As the adrenaline rush slowly wore off, Amhil began registering where they were. T'Brel was standing beside them, gazing down on them with a worried look. Kirk was standing a few feet away, he appeared to have stopped dead in his tracks as he was staring up in awe. Amhil looked at the floor and noticed it was white, seemingly without decoration and above all shiny, reminding her of the material T'Brel and her had come across earlier. The walls rose up high reaching the ceiling far above their heads. Large, white pillars stood in the middle of the room and bright light illuminated it all, though she couldn't tell where it was coming from. Though the place looked amazing, Amhil couldn't help but feel frustrated by the fact they had made themselves even more lost than before. How big could this place possibly be?
“Is everyone all right?” Kirk asked, returning towards the group and helping Thirteen towards his feet. Amhil nodded silently and with a little help from T'Brel got up, too. “I sense a lot less electromagnetic radiation here...where are we?” Thirteen asked, regaining his posture.
“I would like to know what the hell that thing was back there.” Amhil said, worried. “It sounded kind of...mechanical...and angry.” She added, trying to think of the right words to describe it.

T'Brel looked around the white room. This one was different than all the others, but it also had some similarities. That of course was not on T'Brel's mind. Before the walls had closed in on them he could sense those creatures.
"It indeed was angry Amhil, but that was no machine," T'Brel said," those were creatures long trapped here."
"How do you know?" Captain Thirteen asked as he propped himself up.
"My telepathic abilities were able to link with them, well technically they were able to link with me," T'Brel said.
"Why didn't they follow us in?" Amhil asked.
"They were afraid of this place, this place has special meaning," T'Brel said," I'm sure that everyone feels the higher electromagnetic field in this room. I would bet my spots that there is something here, something that could possibly get us out of here."

"Look there, in the middle!" Amhil said as she pointed to the middle of the gargantuan room they were in. Thirteen felt how the electromagnetic energy was clustering. The officers witnessed how red entities appeared out of nowhere, and had begun swarming in the middle. "We've got only fifteen minutes of oxygen left!" T'Brel informed sounding alarmed. "What is it?" Amhil said, returning attention to the clustering entities.
Kirk took out his tricorder and scanned it. "It appears as though they are forming some sort of gateway," he said. "Can you identify its destination," Thirteen asked. "No sir, this gateway is too primitive." "Do you think it'll lead us out of here?" T'Brel asked sounding hopeful. Amhil scanned the room. "The walls do not appear to have any form of doors or windows," she concluded.
"Captain, what do you want us to do?" Kirk asked. Thirteen concentrated on what he felt, trying not to lose himself to the electromagnetic radiation caused by the gateway. "It is our only chance," he said eventually. "Commander Kirk," Thirteen continued, "I am aware that this is a riskily decision, but I am going to enter this gateway, it is the only option I see left." Kirk nodded, "I agree with you sir."
"Very well, in that case, guide me to the gateway, I will go first," Thirteen, who was still lacking his eyesight, said. "But sir -" "Do not contradict me commander Kirk." Amhil looked at Kirk with a questioning look, but the first officer nodded, and she guided Thirteen to the portal. "I will see you on the other side," Thirteen said. He stepped forward.
Thirteen felt how he was sucked into the gateway. It was as though he was sliding down an enormous tube that had a very strong suction on its other end. Then he was spat out. He felt hard ground under his feet again, and stumbled about a little. He took a few steps, stretching his arms out in front of him not to bump into a wall. He heard a sound behind him, which sounded much like a strong tornado. "Sir, are you okay?" Thirteen could distinguish Jonathan's voice.
"I am, where are we commander?" "I have some great news sir," Kirk said sounding relieved, "we're in the triangular room again." "The one where we found the entrance to the temple?" Thirteen asked. "Yes sir." Thirteen had till now never experienced what 'relief' felt like. "Where are the others?" "I have ordered them to follow me two minutes apart."
Within five minutes all the away team officers had been reassembled in the triangular room. Cheers and hands were exchanged. "Mister Kirk, lead us back to that elevator, and get us to the surface," Thirteen ordered. "With pleasure sir," Kirk responded.

T'Brel was very tempted to quit fighting his exhuastion. In all the commotion T'Brel's oxygen pack was damaged and it had taken a real toll on his body and mind. As the elevator rose, T'Brel could feel the electromagnetic field weaken. Pretty soon the field had completely vanished which caused T'Brel to experience a very painful headache.
The pain seemed to grow and grow in intensity. It was unbearable and T'Brel began to undo his suit which alarmed his collegues.
"T'Brel what in the hell are you doing?" Kirk asked as he became more concerned.
"It's unbearable, my mind is...." T'Brel said not able to explain completly. Kirk tried to stop him, but he pushed him away. Without hesitating, T'Brel took off his helmet and then collasped.

Amhil felt herself being sucked into the gateway, which was not a very comfortable feeling, before the ground returned under her feet with such force she stumbled forward. Kirk and T'Brel were there to stop her from falling over, and she just about managed not to fall flat on her face. Looking around Amhil noticed with a lot of relief they were back in the triangular room.
"Mister Kirk, lead us back to that elevator and get us to the surface." Thirteen ordered and Kirk grinned. "With pleasure, sir." He answered and they started their trip back through the tunnels towards the large gates of the ruins. Soon enough they found the elevator still waiting silently for them in the dark. Amhil helped Thirteen aboard before it started its long ascent.
Amhil involuntarily wrapped her arms around her as she continued shivering now that they were standing still once again. However, she knew that soon the coldness of the underground ruins would be left behind as they rose slowly but surely towards the surface. Because Amhil had no way of telling the time from her suit, it seemed as if the trip was taking ages.
In the dim light of their flash lights, Amhil saw T'Brel fidgeting and she noticed he looked very pale. She observed him for a few minutes with growing worry when he suddenly fervently began undoing his helmet.
"T'Brel, what in the hell are you doing?" Kirk asked in alarm, and reached out to try and stop him.
"It's unbearable, my mind is.." T'brel muttered, unclasping his helmet. Amhil stiffened and besides Kirk's frantic attempts to stop him, he succeeded in taking off his helmet. Before anyone of them could react he collapsed on the floor of the elevator.
Not knowing if they had already ascended high enough for the air to be breathable again, she fell to her knees beside T'Brel. Struggling with the clasps of the helmet as she tried to put it back on. She did know if enough oxygen was left in his suit so she hastily took one of her oxygen tubes off and attached it to T'Brel's suit.

T'Brel breathed heavily once Amhil'd managed to reattach his helmet and give the navigations officer oxygen. Thirteen missed out on the situation; Kirk briefly explained him what had happened. "Are you in order commander Peers?" Thirteen asked. "I have a terrible headache sir," T'Brel said, sounding exhausted. "It will not take us long to reach the Tiger Shark," Thirteen said, trying to reassure the panting officer.
The elevator rose upward, and after a timespan none of the officers could clearly state a small dot of light became visible above them, growing as they ascended. "There, the surface!" Jonathan said relieved. The elevator came to a halt. Kirk helped T'Brel off, and Amhil stood by Thirteen. A team of medical officers from the mining facility came rushing to the exhausted away team, and took all of them to sickbay for examination.
Once they had been taken care of the four officers were beamed back to the Tiger Shark. "I suggest that everyone takes well deserved rest," Thirteen said as they had materialized on their ship. "Sir, what about you?" Kirk asked. "What do you mean commander?" "Well, you're blind, right?" "That is correct, I will summon someone to take me to my quarters. I will tend this problem after I have regenerated." The away team left the transporter room as they said their goodbyes. A nurse had come to guide Thirteen to his quarters.
Thirteen knew the layout of his quarters, and was left alone by the nurse when he had reached it. He didn't feel like reviewing their away mission now, he just wanted to regenerate; a desire he'd never before experienced so heavily. He got into his alcove, and closed his blinded eyes. "Computer, initiate regeneration cycle." The computer beeped, and Thirteen's consciousness sank away.
When his cycle ended it felt as though a veil was lifted. Thirteen opened his eyes, and saw the dark contours of his quarters. He saw it, literally. My vision, it has returned, he thought to himself. A smile played on his lips, though he didn't notice.
Jonathan, Amhil and T'Brel were already in the briefing room when Thirteen walked in. "You have a pretty good pace for a blind person commander," Kirk joked. "I am happy to inform you that my vision returned once I had regenerated," Thirteen said. "That's great sir!" T'Brel said. Thirteen nodded, and commenced the debriefing.
"That said," Thirteen started as the debriefing had come to its end, "you are to return to your stations. Mister T'Brel, I suppose you can get us back to Assailant? I think a few days of shore leave is in order." "Yes sir, will do!" T'Brel said. The officers left the room. Thirteen left command in Kirk's hands as he retreated to his ready room to write up a ship report of their away mission. The Tiger Shark would soon be in its haven again.

T'Brel had never been happier to see a doctor in his entire life and for the first time he didn't care if he showed emotion. The electromagnetic field in the caves had become addictive to his neural pathways and as they had begun to leave the temple the effects were finally realized. Lucky for him the doctor's on the planet were able to supress his neural activity so that the damage wouldn't be permanet.
The navigation's officer was now relaxing in his own quarters watching the 2007 Rose Bowl game. It was #3 Michigan vs USC in Pasendena, California. He already knew the outcome and he was seriously considering watching the 2006 Rose Bowl instead which had been much more exciting.
As he was about to order the computer to change the program, a priority message came through. It was from the Deputy Director of the DCS, his mother. ~What a pleasant surprise~ T'Brel thought as he activated the letter that his mother had sent. As he read it, memories long ago forgottened came rushing back. The two years that T'Brel had spent looking for a man they never found. The obsession that had no face, but just a name.
The letter left him confused and anxious. His mother had never been one to mince words. She wasn't telling him something and that didn't sit well with him.
"Computer please contact Ambassador Ezdreiana who lives on Starbase Assailant," T'brel said.
"Unable to comply, Starbase Assailant is currently not accepting any communications," the computer reported.
"What is the reason for this?" T'brel asked.
"A sector wide alert has been activated," the computer responded. ~A sector wide alert. What the hell is happening over there?~ T'Brel thought knowing that there was nothing he could do.
"Senior staff please report to the conference room," the computer vioce said. T'Brel quickly stopped what he was doing and pushed it to the back of his mind. He knew that his mom would be safe on the starbase. For now he would relax with his friends and take them back home.
=^=T'Brel, are you on your way?=^= Kirk asked
=^=Yeah I'm on my way, Amhil will be there waiting for us I bet. You know how she likes to be first.=^=
=^=Do you know if Thirteen is better?=^=
=^=I don't know, it's only been a few hours since we got back from the cave and I've been watching football.=^= T'Brel responded hoping that Thirteen would be better.
=^=And you didn't invite me=^= Kirk responded in fake shock
=^=I'll make it up to you=^= T'Brel said as he entered the conference room. =^=I was right, she's already here.=^=
"Are you referring to me, Mister?" Amhil said with a smile.
"Yes, and thanks for your assistance down there," T'Brel said trying not to show to much outward emotion. He still felt uncomfortable around her, but he was sure it was in a good way.
T'Brel didn't speak much after the first few words with Amhil and waited for the others to arrive. He was certain that Thirteen would be ordering back to Assailant. He would talk to his mother soon enough and it would also give him time to heal from the experience on the planet.
"I've never been happier to go back to Assailant," T'Brel said as the three officers left the conference room. It was a horrible experience in the caves, but the four of them including Thirteen bonded like never before.
"You know I still want those pictures that you took of the landscape," T'Brel said as he took the Tigershark into warp and back home.

The light from the top of the elevator shaft was a warm welcome in comparison to the depths of the mine in which they all had just faced. Kirk feared for his hysteric friend, but as the elevator stopped in its place Kirk could see medical personnel already rushing to their aid.
At first Kirk shrugged off medical attention so that way more attention could be placed on Thirteen and his vision, and T'Brel with his hysteria. It was not until the medics started to scan and move his slung arm that he decided medical attention was needed.
Before long the crew was back on board the Tiger Shark. Each crew member privately thanked who they needed to for ensuring their safe return back to the ship. Thirteen gave orders for each crewmember to take the rest of their shifts off, rest, and seek further medical attention if need be.
Kirk, still needed the bone in his arm to be set, and have the fracture repaired headed straight for sickbay. He walked in silence, thinking about the things that he thought he had seen down there. He wondered about the people who could have lived in such a mysterical place, he wondered how he had and Amhil had survived that fall.
The door to sickbay opened and Kirk found himself face to face with the good doctor.
"What happened?" Franklin asked.
Kirk hesitated for a moment, at first he did not know how to answer. Then he simply said, "Long story."
Not more than an hour later Kirk was out of sickbay. The doctor said his arm would probably be still for another week, Kirk knew it would be less than that. He could already feel the nanoprobes inside his body mending the torn tissue. He stretched his arm out in front of him as he walked, shaking it as if he was trying to shake something off the tip of his fingers. He caught strange looks from the crewmembers but they said nothing because of his rank.
The door to his quarters opened. He was home. His quarters were dark, just like he normally liked them. This time however, he felt oddly alone in his dark quarters. He needed to see the lights on. Ghosts, Kirk thought to himself, Borg do not believe in ghosts.
"Lights." Kirk commanded as if in defiance to his own thoughts.
I am not a Borg anymore. I am human. Kirk thought to himself as he walked slowly to his bed. Sitting on the night stand next to his bed, attached to the wall was the truth. The hard painful truth that he would never be able to escape. He was Borg, but he was a Borg who now believed in ghosts. Kirk smiled as that final thought crossed his mind.
-THE NEXT DAY-
The meeting was brief as Thirteen quickly handed out the orders to return back to Assailant. The senior staff walked quickly out of the briefing room .
"You know I still want those pictures that you took of the landscape," T'Brel said.
"I know," Kirk said as he took his place in the center chair, Take us home buddy."

The ride home was without obstacles. "Captain, we're within visual range of starbase Assailant," T'Brel notified from helm. "On screen," Thirteen said. The starbase appeared on the screen. Ships rushed to and fro; traffic was busy, as always. "Hail Assailant number one."
They were welcomed and guided by one of Assailant's operations officers as T'Brel took the Tiger Shark in. They were home. Thirteen got op from his center chair. =/\= Attention Tiger Shark crew, this is your captain, we have arrived at starbase Assailant. You are granted shore leave until further notice, though you are to remain on the starbase. Thirteen out. =/\=
Thirteen eyed Jonathan, who had gotten up as well. His eyes moved to T'Brel, who stood next to the helm console. Finally Thirteen looked at Amhil. The bridge trickled empty, but for the four officers remaining. "This was quite an interesting mission," Thirteen said. They nodded. "I'm glad you're allowing us some shore leave, captain," Amhil said. "It is well deserved I reckon," Thirteen said. "Any plans sir?" Jonathan asked. "No, but perhaps it would be... nice... if we could come together for... a drink?" Thirteen said eying his fellow officers questioningly.

"No, but perhaps it would be... nice... if we could come together for... a drink?"
"Sir I'm afraid that will be impossible," T'Brel said cooly," with Jon it is never just a drink, its dozens."
"Captain you should ignore him," Jon said," that is his attempt at a joke."
T'Brel eyed his best friend, but didn't say anything. He in fact thought that his joke was funny which was cemented with Amhil's chuckle.
"Well, I think we should get moving along," T'Brel said really wanting to get off the ship and to a more lively place. "The Fishtank is usually full by now."
