Elron slumped back in his chair and sighed. Absent-mindedly he began swinging his legs from side to side in increasingly violent arcs, until eventually he noticed the helm officer looking at him and so stopped. Bema was still enjoying some time off with his new wife, Kate, so it was Ensign Dowling who sat at the helm. Elron sighed again. Ever since he'd become a Vice Admiral, Starfleet Command had stopped sending him the exciting missions he was used to. Were they really so worried about an Admiral being injured in service that they were willing to bore him to death instead? The Black Tulip had been deep in Federation space for weeks now, and Elron was worried that his shields might stop working if they were left unused for too long.
"Sir, I'm detecting a 4% drop in the main reactor's output," said Tahl Omera calmly. Then just a few seconds later "Output has returned to normal. I guess it was just a momentary fluctuation." "Thank you Lieutenant," replied Elron wearily. "Keep an eye on it and let me know if anything else happens." He lasted about 10 seconds - which he thought was a pretty good demonstration of self-restraint - before he suddenly stood up and shouted "This is intolerable! Enough is enough! If anyone needs me I'll be in my ready room." With that, the Admiral left the bridge.
He marched to his desk, sat down heavily on the seat and pressed a couple of buttons on the comm-panel. It was a few seconds before the face of Admiral Edington appeared before him. "Elron!" she said smiling, seeming pleasantly surprised. "What can I do for you?" "It's quiet here. Too quiet," muttered Elron. "I want to take the Black Tulip back out to the frontiers… but," he smiled ironically, "I don't actually have a mission to take her on yet." Admiral Edington's smile faded. "And how does that involve me?" she asked cautiously. "Oh, come on Alison! We've known each other for decades now. Starfleet may claim that you've retired, but I know you better than that." Elron smiled slyly. "So long as you've still got your wits, you'll never retire from the Intelligence game. Sorry, but you're just not the retirement type." Admiral Edington sat for a minute in silent thought, then tapped some controls next to her. "I've scrambled our channel," she said casually. In actuality, the word 'scrambled' was nowhere near adequate to describe the level of sophisticated counter-surveillance encryption that the Head of External Affairs had just used. She leaned forward slowly and said "It's funny that you should call me now. It just so happens that there is something you could do for us..."

Bema sat up in his bed. Three days since they left Bellicose and the crew was bored. Bema looked at his clock and thought: time to get up. Within a few he was oin his way to the bridge. Ensign Dowling looked relieved to see Bema. "How was your time off sir?" he asked. "It was fine. I am glad to get back to duty," Bema said eargerly. Dowling left gleefully and no sooner had Bema sat down than Elron walked onto the bridge.

He sat back and smiled. At last he felt satisfied. Pausing only momentarily to enjoy the sensation, Admiral Elron pressed the comm-panel once more, this time for internal communication. "Admiral Elron to all senior officers," he announced, "please submit a departmental status report to my office by 14:00 hours today. I want all department heads to meet in the briefing lounge at 16:00. Make sure that your staff are ready for new orders. Elron out."
After a brief communication with Starbase Bellicose, Elron returned to the bridge.
OOC: This is a call for all officers to report for duty. As well as simply reporting, I'd like you to describe things in your own department. Beef up the post a bit with any personal thoughts, feelings or conversations you may have. In particular, I want Tahl Omera to report since I haven't heard from him for a while. Perhaps Bema is able to help me here?

USS Black Tulip Bridge 1300 hours: Bema sat at his console as he started to reaffirm himself with the controls. Elron who had returned to his ready room to take a message from Bellicose returned to the bridge. “Bema plot a course for the coordinates I am sending you and set that course to for Warp 7,” Elron said as he sat in his chair. Bema was quick to reply to the order as he started moving his hands over the console. “Course laid in sir,” Bema said after he had set the coordinates into the navigations system. “Engage,” Elron said to the Lieutenant. Bema complied with a deft move of his hands the stars around the ship began to dissipate. As soon as they entered warp Elron tapped his commbadge. “Attention all senior officers. Meet with your departments and have a status report ready for me by 1500 hours,” Elron said in a stern voice. Bema nodded to his CO and tapped his own commbadge. “All navigations officers with the exception of Ensign Dowling meet me in Briefing Room Two in ten minutes. Ensign Dowling report to the bridge for relief duty,” Bema said in a voice that Tahl had never heard before. Bema Rose and headed for the turbolift. Briefing Room 2 Ten minutes later: Bema sat at the table as he was surrounded by the people under his command. “We have two things to cover in this meeting. First is this months duty rosters, which my wife will cover. The second is a status report that will go to Elron,” Bema said in a tone that he called his commanding tone. It was the same tone he used on the bridge ten minutes earlier.

"Here is the schedueling for this next month. It has a detailed description of when you are needed on the bridge. I also took the liberty of assigning nightshifts in which noone is exempt," Kate said as she handed PADDs to every officer. Naturally she had one extra PADD which everyone guessed had Ensign Dowling's schedule on it. Kate than sat down seeing that her job was done Bema rose as his wife sat. "Thank you Lieutenant Saberwyn. Now I need all of you with the exception of Kate to give me a rundown of all the system checks that have been run and anything else that might be helpful for a progress report to be submitted to Elron," Bema said quickly. One by one the helm officers gave their reports on the navigations system. Bema who had an empty PADD in his hand started to write up his report. As soon as Ensign Peirce sat down Bema finished working on the PADD. "Thank you everyone. Know your scheduells by 1900 hours. Dissmissed," Bema said as he stood for the final time. The other officers left very quickly. As soon as they were gone Bema walked over to Kate. "I made it so we are never on opposite time scheduells," she said in a pleased voice. Bema smiled at Kate. He had known her for a long time and she still amazed him. "I know I have a shift right now so please give me Dowling 's schedule and I will see you tonight," Bema said as she handed him the PADD. Before he left he kissed her tenderly. Soon after that he left for the bridge with the three PADDs in hand.

Sitting in the command chair on the bridge, Elron checked the time on the control panel to his right. It was 13:27 already and there were still some reports to be handed in. He was confident of his crew, however, and knew that he would have all reports soon.

Bema arrived on the bridge within minutes of leaving the briefing room. He quickly handed the report to Elron and took his post. Dowling stood as Bema approached him. Bema handed the ensign the PADD with his schedule. As soon as Bema sat Elron tapped his console. "All acxting department heads and senior officers report to Briefling Room 1," Elron said into the coom device on his chair console. Bema stood and went to the brefing room adjacent to the bridge. Briefing Room 1. Two minutes later Bema found himself in some familiar company. He saw four new faces. He also saw Commander McCord and Holi the EMH. Bema figured she was wearing a holo emmiter. The group sat waiting for their CO/

OFF: I'm just waiting for a few more people to report in before I start this one properly. Also, I don't have a clear plot in my mind yet, so maybe we could discuss it over the mailing list? Just so you know I've not forgotten about it

Elron sighed. It turned out that, while Elron had fallen asleep from boredom, a non-corporeal being had entered the ship and stolen the minds of the entire crew. All of them were now sitting like zombies, staring ahead. Since there didn't seem to be much he could do about it, Elron went into his ready room and selected an old episode of The Simpsons to show on the monitor. As the opening sequence started he sat back and put his feet up...

~~computer Begin Chief Science officer Log Quincy spent the two hours, after a black hole had been detected by Stella-Cartography, going over the data that was streaming from the Black tulip sensors all the of that area. Lucky for me star fleet has a little orbital science observatory, to help a old academy cadet Walter Dillard was the director there he said he would help me by focus in on the Black hole. Blind side The observatory would calculating its telemetry and angular confinement.
It was a frustrating time for Quincy, he wanted dearly to take a mission to the mouth of the Black hole so that he could do more, but SF protocols and lack of a science vessel prevented him.
The scans were revealing that the Black hole was made from something very similar to verteron particles*. What Quincy needed was a probe launching into the Black hole to collect samples and data in order to confirm what exactly was keeping the Black hole open but the old man will never give the go Ahead with a new mission about to get underway. Quincy also was eager to explore further into the hole and see what was on the other side.
He then turned back to the Delta Flyer Mark II modification project and wondered if this event would give him some extra leverage with new xo Commander Robert ( By the Book )Gauthier ? In fact Cmdr ,McCord could see a whole world of opportunities developing for him out of these events. It was a first contact situation, traditionally the science department should be involved or at least consulted during such events. He stopped for one moment to consider the line of thinking. 'Yes he was being political in his motivation :;he shrugged:: seemed that the way of the world was through politics.
Cmdr McCord > Taps his comm. Badge Cmdr McCord to Bridge Bridge here> Commander Gauthier, what can I do for you mister McCord Will you sir I require your assistance?"
Cmdr, Gauthier > on what matter A Quick away mission to study a black hold we pick -up on our long Range sensors 2 hours ago Cmdr Gauthier > I will check with the Admiral but go a head to the shuttle bay and stand bye if the captain give his ok us can us the Runabout Sanderson I take it you already have your team ready cmdr “ Cmdr McCord > Smile Maybe your Away team can figuring out this new Black hole. Such as how much it is affecting our local space? Is it safe to traverse? Where does it lead? We'll also need reports from other departments which your team could help with... full biological work-up on the Vulcan, their colony ship's technology... anything and everything you can do to remove the mystery of these events."
Cmdr McCord >yes sir " Very well I will have my team assemble in 10 minutes sir , I also have the team already working on the Black hole, but lead an away team to the black hole to perform some experiments, the data we have is a little sketchy at best?" There was a question in his voice and he hoped that the Admiral would answer positively.
Cmdr Gauthier> Gauthier thought for a moment. "I don't want to send an away team through that black hole just yet. Send probes or automated ships... What ever you think is best. From what the Vulcan say, there is a war zone on the other side and I'm not prepared to send any of our people into that kind of situation...at least not yet."
Cmdr McCord then began assembling the science teams. He decided that he himself was to lead the team on the Sanderson in its investigation of the Black hole.
He assigned Xeno-biological/Ecological research expert Ensign Nevadan, a young male Vulcan NPC*, to assist the SF medical department categories the new species. He also sent a team lead by Ensign Angus Mac Mann (NPC) who was the chief of Astrometrics with Johns best technician, Chief technician CPO Gabriel Janine (NPC) to assist the engineering teams evaluation of the Vulcan shuttle.

Admiral Elron read the report with interest. Having graduated from the Valinor Academy of Sciences with a Masters degree in Dimensional Geometry, and later from the Daystrom Institute with a PhD in Subspace Mechanics, he was also curious about the data from this black hole. He leaned forward and switched off his episode of the Simpsons. It seemed that the non-corporeal being had returned the minds of at least some of his crew, which was enough for a mission. (OFF: see earlier post if you don't understand this ) Despite the obvious dangers of investigating this phenomenon, he hoped that studying the verteron nodes gathering beyond the event horizon could lead to significant advances in long-range subspace sensors. Also, something was creating an inverse subspace curvature which was preventing the black hole from collapsing to a singularity - something almost never encountered. "I agree with Commander Gauthier, Quincy." the Admiral said after reading the padd. "Stick to unmanned investigation methods as far as possible. I'm afraid we're not going to have time for any detailed analyses, but signal Starbase Bellicose and ask them to send out a specialist team to follow up your investigation. You can take the Sanderson out and perform your experiments until they arrive."

As soon as Bema returned to the bridge he thought he would write out a roster of his officers to hand to Commander Gauthier. He was quick to write it out on a padd. Commander Gauthier and Commander McCord walked onto the bridge as Bema stood. "Commander this is a list of the members of the Navigations staff. If you want I will have them talk to you in order for you to get to know them. "That would be nice lieutenant. Right now I will read the padd. It has a diagnostic of all the nav systems?" the FO asked. "Aye sir," Bema said as he sat down. Bema noticed Commander Gauthier reading the padd, which said: First Navigations officer: Lieutenant Katherine Saberwyn Second Navigations officer: Lieutenant (jg) James Brewster Third Navigations officer Ensign Benjamin Pierce Fourth Navigations officer Ensign Alexi Romanov Fifth Navigations officer Ensign Jonathan Dowling
This list was quite complete and detailed. “Lieutenant is this Katherine your sister?” Gauthier asked after noticing the last name of the second in command of the navigations department. “No sir she is my wife. We were married five weeks ago,” Bema replied boastfully. Commander Gauthier smiled at the grin the lieutenant was now sporting. “Carry on Mr. Saberwyn. I will talk to each of your staff members and I will also need a duty roster from your department,” the commander said officially. “Aye sir,” Bema said as he nodded and returned to his post. It did not take him long to copy the roster list but he was roused by a call for him to go to the shuttle bay. Bema was quick to head for shuttle bay three. A security team met him there. “What is the problem?” he asked the guard in charge. “This shuttle pilot has said he has just been transferred here and he is now one of your officers,” the team leader replied. “What is your name?” he asked the female officer. “Lieutenant Junior Grade Jaclyn Goodspeed from the USS Nazareth reporting for duty sir,” she replied. Bema nodded at the reply indeed she was who he was waiting for. “Give me a copy of your orders Ms. Goodspeed,” Bema said in his command tone. After a quick glance he tapped his commbadge. “Saberwyn to Saberwyn,” he said which drew a curious stare from the new officer while the others smiled. “”Yes Bema what can I do for you,” the reply came from the female Saberwyn. “Report to Shuttlebay Three,” Bema said quickly. There was no reply until a few minutes later when Kate walked into the shuttlebay. “Kate this is….” Bema started to say but was interrupted by a scream of joy. “Katherine when did you get married?” the new officer asked Kate as they started to hug. Bema got the feeling that his wife and this woman knew each other. “Five weeks ago Bema you remember Jaci from the Excalibur?” his wife asked. At that moment a light clicked on in his head. “I thought you looked familiar. How have you been?” Bema asked once remembering he too knew her. “Not too bad. It is hard to believe you two got married. I wish I could have been there,” she said with a grin. “Kate show Jaci her quarters and than give her a tour of the ship,” Bema said after realizing he had called his wife for a reason. Kate nodded and headed out of the shuttlebay with her friend in tow. Bema’s relief was short lived when his commbadge went off. “All senior officers report to Briefing Room One immediately,” Admiral Elron said. Bema nodded and started to head for the main briefing room.

Shuttle Passenger Compartment -=-
The mood in the passenger compartment of the shuttle was quite sullen, some would say you could cut the tension with a knife. News and rumors had found their way to Black Tulip about the situation on the some of the closer planet, the death, the destruction, that Happen when the black hole sodden appeared most Planets where in the state of martial law which the colony seems to be under. As a senior science officer he was looking forward to an adventure and was quite possibly the only person on that shuttle who was looking forward to arriving on station soon
Looking out the window he pushed a few strands of hair out of his eyes as he admired the wonders of space. Inside he knew that as a science officer the thrill and excitement of action and danger would not readily present itself to him.
The voice of the pilot came across the speakers "Black Hole is on the port side cmdr, McCord we are staying well outside of it magnetic pull sir you can Begin Running your Test now. Quincy was like a little boy at the fair he was observing one of the galaxies most unexplained and un-natural wonders is before your eyes" Quincy slowly stood out of his seat and made his way over to the other side of the shuttle and leaned forward to peer outside. The first impression of the Black hole was that of amazement, the second impression was a reminder of the state of the how Large it was . -=- Chief Science Officer Quincy J McCord USS Black tulip

:Briefing Room: Elron -"alright people we've just recieved our orders, we are to proceed to the doltrol system. The USS Mills crashed on the planet 2 weeks ago, and Starfleet wants us to retrieve the ships cargo, this mission is important, so I want all necessary personel on the retrevial." Bema -"what is in the Cargo containers?" Elron -" Starfleet hasn't informed me yet, they're keeping us on a need to know basis, our mission is to go to the planet and secure the cargo, then wait for orders. We also have reports that Romulans have been looking for the reckage. odds are that if we know they know. anything else?" all of the officers mumbled a low "no sir" to the question. Elron -"alright then dismissed" the briefing being over, Commander Gauthier started for the door to the bridge. Elron -"Commander may I have a word?" Robert stopped and walked back over to the table Robert -"yes Admiral" Elron -" Cmdr, ... 12332 Alpha 3" Robert -" Sir, how do you know my SFI activation number.?" Elron -"Admiral Edington." Robert -"so this is a Intelligence mission?" Elron -"yes, we've been ordered, really ordered to investigate a tip that the Romulans have began to experimant with Borg technology, there is even a rumor that the romulans have made an alliance with one of the rogue collectives that was made when Voyager devisated the collective in 2378." Robert -"very well. when will we tell the crew." Elron -"I'm going to inform the senior staff personnelly and indivudally. we don't want this getting out yet, you never know who is listening." Robert-" alright, after 2 years I thought I was done with StarFleet Intell, guess I was wrong" Elron-" thats the way it looks, well dismissed Commander" Robert -"sir" with that motion Robert left the briefing room and took his seat on the bridge. Gauthier -" Lt. Saberwyn, set course 055.122, warp 8" Bema -" setting course 055.122, warp 8" Gauthier -"when your ready" With the order the Black Tulip jumped to warp on their way to complete this new mission. ---------------------------------------------------------------- :OFF: Hope this plot is interesting enough

~~ Science Main Lab.~ “Back on board the Black Tulip” Computer start chief science officer Log” We did get a chance to do most of our research on the black hold before Admiral Elron recall us back to the ship at the time we where being recall the science research ship Exodus was taking up station to relieve us “ any way needless to say no one my team was happy to leave but orders are orders we transmitted all of the data on the black hole we had Gather and set course for the Black Tulip”
after getting back on board there was a senior officer meeting it would appear that a federation ship the USS Mills had crash on a planet in the Doltrol system “ The first problem would be that we first will have to find out which planet it crash on before we can retrieve its cargo and check for survivors.
I ask Ensign Newark to pull up all federation mapping records of the Doltrol system so once we arrive on station we can begin a planet by planet search” Ensign Newark “sat in the science lab watching over the reports scrolling down his screen. The young officer was not alone in the Lab and he had a full shift working into the early evening the Long range scans of the Doltrol system “
Once we arrive in the Doltrol system all ship sensor where realigned to search for the missing Ship The Data was coming from all parts of the system but one planet hold the best sensor reading a planet just call Q324 a federation science research ship had plan to scan it but never did so until we get there and take up orbit of the planet neither do we “
All together we were building a general picture of the climatic changes that that may have happen in the Doltrol System it could start spreading around the sector like a ripple in the space& time . On top of this he had deployed probes to measure the seismic activity and deployed some orbital satellites were now reconfigured to monitor the Teutonic plate movements that were causing the wave of tremors and the growing number of earthquakes.
The added sensor Data from the planet Q324 and the USS-Mills added to the overall picture and the young Ensign had Logically and steadily built up a database that would help him to make some predictions.
Cmdr McCord was on his second set of experiments to find a way to close the black hole when the signal came through from Newark. Ensign Newark> "Sir I have updated reports on the Q324 climatic and environmental conditions you requested, also I have attached a projection for the next few days but beyond that the calculations become unreliable. too many variables." Quincy watched Newark considering how irritating this young officer would be to play poker with. However he was a first rate science officer and at this moment Quincy was glad he was in place.
cmdr McCord> Very good Ensign you need to issue a preliminary weather warning and I will contact the Admiral And executive officer “.
Cmdr ,McCord > then issued the following report all to the senior Departments heads . In his opinion as the chief science officer he had to warning the Admiral and make sure he understated the actual danger to anyone transporting do to the planet but he had to follow orders.
--------------------------------------- Sever weather warning, and most outlying areas of the crash site .
Due to the activity of the planet Magnet fields the following conditions are expected.
Daytime Temperatures dropping over the next two days to an average of 5°C with a wind chill of -10°C.
Possibility of light rain developing into snow as the night-time temperatures drop below freezing.
Wind gusting up to 30 mph and in the evenings, possible storm force conditions will apply. Some equatorial regions will experience increasing hurricane and sever storm activity.
Teutonic Activity:
Because of the change in the gravitational influences on the planet the following conditions apply.
Most areas will suffer from tremor activity and the chances of earthquakes are high.
At the Polar Regions the temperatures will remain generally stable but volcanic activity is expected to increase dramatically over the next 12-48 hours.
Stay tuned for further updates: From Cmdr McCord Science Dept.

Cmdr McCord read over signal with satisfaction. He then tap him comm. Badge to warn the Admiral of the increased weather conditions but hopefully not cause panic he hope . He then turned to the Com console and encrypted a signal that would be difficult for the best to decrypt. Cmdr McCord > to the main bridge where Commander Gauthier was > "cmdr McCord to Commander Gauthier " The Commander face emerged on the console display and he acknowledged. Cmdr McCord > "Sir I am transmitting the report from ensign Newark on the Planet Q324 environmental conditions that we expected over the next few days. As you can see they are a little more sever than the official report.
I recommend you put the ship on a yellow alert status." The Commander averted his eyes on the screen to study the report. "Commander Gauthier, these seismic projections are rather more than I expected." Commander McCord “ nodded as he read on, " Very good cmdr McCord I will consider your request and pass you subjections on to the Admiral !" The communication was finished but Quincy knew that there would be more to follow and rather graver. It was at this time that his mind drifted to his family once again.

Elron read Quincy's latest report with concern. The seismic activity of the planet and the unstable weather patterns meant that sending down an away team wasn't a desirable option. There was also some natural source of interference obscuring their sensors. At least, the Admiral hoped it was natural. His mind drifted back to what Admiral Edington had said about the Romulans...
"Sir," Cmdr Gauthier said, interrupting Elron's thoughts, "how would you like us to proceed? We still need to confirm whether this is the location of the Mills."
"Of course, commander," Elron replied with a frown. "There's still nothing from the orbital probes?"
"Not according to Cmdr McCord, sir, no."
Elron frowned again. "Hmm. Keep searching for the ship's transponder frquency and if we haven't found anything in the next two hours, send Lt Saberwyn and Cmdr McCord down in a shuttle for a scout flight. They can take one of the modified Delta Flyer II's if there's one available. If not they can take the Sanderson."
"Aye, sir." As Robert turned and left the Admiral's ready room, Elron tapped on his commbadge. "Elron to the EMH. Holi, could you please join me in my ready room. There's something I need to discuss with you in connection with the mission."
Holi would be the easiest to inform; she was programmed to deal with any situation calmly and would probably only be mildly interested anyway. Then again, she seemed to be developing more and more each day. You could never tell when she'd surprise you next. Elron was sure that Captain ONE would love to see how far she'd come in the short time since he'd left.

Ordered Lt, Saberwyn to start Scanning for any signs of the Mills crash site Quincy start Tapping in commands orders“. With Lt, Saberwyn sitting in the other Pilot seat beside him as the shuttle slowed to one quarter impulse. Lt ,Saberwyn Sir see if you can recalibrate the matter anti-matter reaction ratio. It would make our descent a little more easier "
cmdr McCord “stood and moved to a different console. Lt ,Saberwyn took over piloting for the time being. Quincy thought to him self jokingly. Luckily, his co pilot happened to be a skilled pilot, with shuttlecraft knowledge.
"All set Lieutenant ," announced the Commander, returning to his seat.
"Nice work, sir ," Saberwyn smiled. "Set a course for the Black Tulip, maximum warp."
-|-|- 1200 hours -|-|- -|- Doltrol System -|-
"Words A old pilot live bye, Lieutenant." Saberwyn smiled again "Open a channel to the Tulip Flight officer ." He paused while the comm. was opened. "This is Cmdr McCord & Lt, Saberwyn aboard Federation Delta Flyer II' Night wing , requesting permission to land." His hands raced across the console to transmit verification of his identity.
"Permission granted. Welcome back home , Commander. McCord & Lieutenant the Assistant chief of flight operations Lt ,Mathis will greet you upon landing."
"Thank you. out." The channel closed and looked to his co-pilot. "Lieutenant , huh?" Both officers chuckled, despite the awkward reference. "Prepare for docking." Each officer entered commands as the ship readied to descend to the Ship shuttle bay. "Take her in..."

Cmdr McCord > Knock it off Taylor ‘ Sir I have the information you requested, sir. It contains all the information you'll need to know for your research on this system ."
"Thank you," Saberwyn replied, accepting the PADD. " Chief the shuttle was experiencing some difficulties, if engineering has some time."
"Absolutely! Our quartermaster has already taken care of it Lieutenant Saberwyn Ensign, Manchester I will contact engineering for you!!" cmdr McCord “. I need these scans of the planet surface and Atmosphere data readings up to the science Lab and start my report before the old man and the executive has my what left of my career.

Bema was currious about the new mission. Since they set their course Bema felt uneasy. It was a feeling he did not like. "Elron to Lieutenant Saberwyn," Elron said. "Yes sir," Bema inquired as he tapped his commbadge. "Report to the briefing room Bema," Elron ordered. Bema quickly made his way to the briefing room where he found Elron sitting at the table. "Bema this is not easy to tell you but here goes. We've been ordered, really ordered to investigate a tip that the Romulans have began to experimant with Borg technology, there is even a rumor that the romulans have made an alliance with one of the rogue collectives that was made when Voyager devisated the collective in 2378," Elron said in a unusally calm voice. "This is on a need to know basis. So tell no one. Dissmissed," Elron said as Bema rose. He was about to say something when the ship shook violently. RED ALERT. All hands to battle stations. Admiral Elron to the bridge Commander Gauthier ordered. Bema and Elron quickly made there way to the bridge. "Report," Elron asked as the two walked on the bridge. "We have been fired upon. The ship decloaked, fired and than recloaked," the FO reported. "On screen," Elron said as he sat in his chair. Bema by this time was at his post. The screen went from blank to a vast sea of stars when a ship decloked and charged it's weapons.

"Romulans!" growled Elron through gritted teeth. "Lt Omera, target their cloaking and weapons systems if you can. Recalibrate our sensors for tachyon scans and charge all weapons!"
"Executing evasive maneouvres," reported Bema from the helm.
"Do we have a fix on numbers?" asked the Admiral.
"So far only one ship has decloaked. If there are any others they haven't engaged us yet," replied Tahl.
Quincy and Bema hadn't been able to locate the Mills directly, but something seemed to have provoked the Romulans into attacking them. "The Romulans never commit themselves to open conflict unless it's for a very good reason. Whatever they're trying to keep us from is important."
"I wonder what interest the Romulans have in this system," said Cmdr Gauthier as the Black Tulip shuddered from another diruptor blast.
"Probably the same interest that we have."
Further speculation was put aside for now, as the bridge crew concentrated on defeating the Romulan vessel that currently threatened them.

The ship was not Romulan. Bema was certain about that. While trying to dodge the enemy fire Bema started to index recent mission logs to find if this ship has been before. “Tahl….” Gauthier started to say but was interrupted by an explosion from the tactical station. “Bema transfer tactical control over to your station,” Elron ordered as medical teams arrived on the bridge. Bema was so used to the slow state the ship had been in he had forgotten what combat looked like. “Sir there are several smaller vessels launching from the lead ship,” Bema reported as he tried to get a weapons lock on them. He was unsuccessful as they started to attack the Black Tulip. “Admiral I cannot get a phaser lock on the smaller vessels. They are too small,” Bema reported in a somewhat panicky voice. “Options Lieutenant,” Commander Gauthier asked. Elron’s comm. Station beeped. “Sir we are having a problem in here. We cannot take much more of this attack,” Lieutenant Commander James Beattie said over the clamor in engineering. The acting CEO was a little panicked. Elron acknowledged the signal. “Sir I have an idea,” Bema said addressing Elron. “We could launch a group of shuttles. They are small enough to repel the fighter attack. The large ship can be handled by this ship,” Bema said excitedly. The two command officers talked for a few seconds than nodded at the request. No sooner had they agreed then Bema tapped his commbadge. “Ensign Dowling report to the bridge. All other navigations officers report to the shuttle bay three,” Bema said in his command voice as he entered the turbolift. Two Minutes later The navigations crew was quick to reply to the order Bema made. Everyone was there including Jaclyn Goodspeed. “This is what is going to happen. Each of you is going to be assigned a shuttle. With that shuttle you will be assigned a wingman. We are to destroy the fighters that are attacking the Tulip and we are to leave their flagship,” Bema explained as he started to pace. “It will be one senior officer with a junior officer. Kate you and Jaci, Jim you and Ben, Alex I will be your wingman. We launch in five minutes,” Bema said as he started issuing which shuttle they would fly. It did not take them long to get organized. “Dowling this is Saberwyn. Do we have permission to launch?” Bema asked into the commstation. “You are clear to launch,” the ensign navigator replied. The small fleet of shuttles lifted off and started out for the squadron of fighters. Bridge. USS Black Tulip Elron was yelling orders left and right. The crew was responding very quickly. "Sir there is a transmission from the large flagship," Dowling reported as he started gasping for air. "On screen," Elron replied. The screen filled up with a face the federation was quickly becoming aware of. "Admiral. I order you to withdraw. This is the territory of the New Terran-Romulan order. Withdraw or be destroyed," the fairly young Commodore Olgran Giesbaa said in an uncompromising tone. The screen then went blank when three more ships decloaked. These were deffinatley Romulans.

Elron- "Options?!"
Gauthier -"not many I can think of sir, If we have the shield frequences of the shuttles we can get our people out and warp out of the system"
just as Robert finished his sentence the ship shook with the rumble of a disruptor impact
Elron -"sounds risky, how close would we have to be." Elron said directing his question to commander McCord
McCord -" no more than 7 metres"
Elron -"thats pretty close"
another disruptor blast rocked the ship
Robert -" yes it is"
Elron -" hmm, Gauthier take the helm, I want this to go good and I know you have a lot of Helm experince"
Robert -"Yes, sir"
Gauthier got up and took the helm station
Elron -" notify the shuttles. Take her in Mr. Gauthier
Rob- "yes sir"

"Admiral , the hostiles are beaming goods off our ship. Anything they can get a transporter lock on", Benson reported. Quincy growled. "McCord to Mansion", he said aggregately. Alex answered. "Are you going to get those shields back up, or should we just open Starfleet's first star ship Flea Market, Lieutenant?", Quincy asked sarcastically. Benson looked down at his console and then back up and interrupted. "The shields are showing nominal power, sir... and rising!", he reported. McCord closed his eyes. "You were WAITING for me to yell at you, Chief?", Quincy asked. "N-n-no sir. The conduits just started... working again... but it may just be intermittent! I recommend you don't put yourself in a position to depend on the shields", Alex advised. McCord nodded even though Alex was 15 decks below him and couldn't see him. "Understood." "That should stave them off until the Calvary arrives", Bill observed. Quincy nodded. "I hope so."
