OFF: Joint post; Buster and Thirteen.
ON: =/\= Jonesy to sickbay, medical emergency in holodeck 2, get here now! =/\=
Buster had just left J'Leera out of sickbay when he got the emergency message. He hoped it was nothing too serious, or he wouldn't be able to join J'Leera in combat practice later. He grabbed his medical tricorder and some stuff from his desk and hurried out to the turbolift to get to holodeck.
Thirteen got up from his station at the bridge and went straight for the turbolift. What could have happened? he processed. Thirteen's turbolift stopped, but not at its intended deck. In stepped doctor Buster. "A good day doctor, holodeck I presume?" "Of course," Buster said. "I hope it's nothing too serious." The turbolift started again.
"I find it difficult to asses such a situation, medical emergency states something seriously, however such a thing can occur in the holodeck I cannot imagine. Unless someone disengaged the deck its safety protocols, but that would be against regulations," Thirteen said. As is this entire mission, he processed.
"Indeed," Buster said, and nodded. Suddenly he remembered something, and he started feeling very uncomfortable. All kind of possibilities raced through his head. Had J'Leera gone there again? Had she forgotten to put the safety on again? Buster sure hoped not. He started shifting around uncomfortably. "This isn't good," he mumbled. "I beg your pardon? Are you alright doctor, the colour of your face its skin changed," Thirteen said.
Buster grinned nervously. "I just remembered something," he told Thirteen. "This could be very bad." The turbolift reached it's destination and came to a full stop. Buster prepared to run for holodeck as soon as the doors opened.
Thirteen was wondered about what the doctor was talking about, but sprinted after the man as the turbolift's doors opened. They arrived at the scene. The big, grey holodeck was empty, except for two security officers. One of them lay face down on the ground, deep cuts marked his back.
"Oh no," Buster said, "not good." He ran over to the man on the ground. He didn't need his medical tricorder to see what was wrong. This was the second today with big scratch marks. He checked the condition of the man. "Not good at all," he repeated, "we need to get him to sickbay immediately."
The doctor's reaction didn't look good to Thirteen, not that a doctor was needed to see that something was wrong. A trembling Jonesy got up. "What happened cadet?" Thirteen asked. "Somehow the safety protocols were off, but I swear we didn' do it sir," Jonesy said, his face was ash grey. "Doctor, do you require help getting this man to sickbay?" Thirteen asked the doctor. "Possible, though I think I'll go for the transporters," Buster answered, "and you, cadet," he looked at Jonesy. "Come to sickbay in a moment and tell me exactly what happened." "Y-yes sir," Jonesy stuttered.
Just then Thirteen looked over his shoulder, and saw how J'Leera fell to the ground as she looked at the scene in the holodeck. He got up and ran over to her. "Doctor do what you are good at," Thirteen called at Buster. "Mister Jonesy, you are going with the doctor and do as he says, I will remain here and take care of commander Laika."
This is becoming a disaster, Buster thought, as he saw J'Leera fall to the ground. He knew J'Leera would be in trouble now. And possibly himself a bit as well. But he didn't think about that anymore for the moment. He needed to get the wounded cadet to sickbay. =/\= Buster to transporter room, I need an emergency transport to sickbay, two persons. =/\=
Jonesy scuttled off the holodeck, and went to find his way to sickbay. In the meanwhile Thirteen had lifted J'Leera in such a way that her body was in a comfortable position. It took a few minutes before she opened her eyes. Thirteen had placed a comfortable bed in the holodeck in the time she needed to recover, and placed her gently on it. "What-what happened?" she asked. "Just calm down, you are in the holodeck, take a few moments, and then tell me what happened," Thirteen explained.
<Tag J'Leera>
In the meanwhile Buster had rematerialized in sickbay, along with Mark. He had placed the cadet on one of the beds, and started treating him. Another animal scratch if he wasn't mistaken, though unlike the one with J'Leera, this one looked quite deep, and posed a serious threat to the cadet's health. He had to work quickly, and so he did.
Jonesy trembled as the turbolift took him to sickbay. Its doors slid open, and he followed the corridor that'd take him to sickbay. Arriving there he found Mark lying on a bed, and Buster busy taking care of him. "Ah, good," Buster told Jonesy, while not taking his focus away from what he was doing, "could you please tell me exactly what happened now?"
"Well, ya see," Jonesy started as he sat down on a seat he found, "Mark and I wanted to get some action, an' we decided to do that in th' holodeck. Bu' we didn' know the safety protocols were off, an' we went to shoot dinosaurs, 'cause Mark wanted too, an' I was alright with that. The I blew up this velociraptor, but then another one came up from b'hind Mark, an' took him down. He didn' ge' up, but I thought he w's jokin', 'cause the safety protocols were on and all, or tha's what we thought. But this creature cut into his back real nasty b'fore I shot it off him."
Buster looked up for a second. That was the least comprehensible explanation he had ever heard. He understood something about exploding dinosaurs. The effect was the same, with the safety off Mark was lucky to be alive at all. It wasn't looking too good, though he'd probably live now he was being treated. "Okay, thanks" Buster said, and tried to comfort the cadet. "Don't worry, he'll make it..." I think, he added in his thoughts. Jonesy gave Buster a nervous smile. "Thanks doc."

J'Leera awoke with a start and glanced around quickly. She didn't see the injured man anymore, but she heard Thirteen's voice to the side and she turned toward him. "Tell me what happened," he said.
"It's all my fault that he was injured," she said after a few moments. "It's all my fault." She put her head down and covered her face with her hands.
"What do you mean it's your fault?" Thirteen asked, not understanding what she meant.
"I disengaged the safety protocols! So it's my fault that he was injured!" she said softly. "Better put me into the brig where I belong so that I cannot do anymore harm."

OFF: Join post; J'Leera and Thirteen.
ON: "Are you saying that you deliberately disengaged the holodeck its safety protocols?" Thirteen asked, eyeing J'Leera.
She nodded slowly. "I wanted a more realistic training simulation. In real life there are no safety protocols, so that's why I did it."
"You did know that it is against regulations to turn them off. What do you need the training for?"
She took a deep breath wanting to explain this carefully although she did not fully understand her motives either. "Because my position does not give me that kind of training, I usually don't know what to do in situations where combat is needed. I wanted the training so that I could better prepare myself for future missions."
"An understandable way of thinking. Then why did you not contact someone trained in combat? I myself would help you, and mister Lohnen being the marine captain is trained in combat as well," Thirteen explained.
"Well, I wanted to practice by myself at first," she said. "I didn't want to pull you away from your usual duties and the cadets who need the training more than I do."
"My usual duties can be done at a different time, as I require regeneration, not sleep, the time span I have each day to do work is longer, that is no problem. The cadets have already had training, and now train with special programs designed for them, adjusted to their level of training," Thirteen spoke.
"I suppose you're right," she sighed. "I just didn't think." She took a deep breath and slowly stood up. "Well, now what?"
"You do know that it is my duty to file this to rear admiral KezTrek. However, considering that we are on friendly terms, or so would I like to consider our relationship, I would not like to betray you," Thirteen said.
"Do it anyway. I won't think any less of you if you do," she replied. "You have to do this and I need to accept responsibility of my actions. Besides, Admiral Keztrek will hear about the cadet's injury in Buster's report and she'll want to know what happened."
"That is correct. I cannot do anything about that," Thirteen said. "I think we should get to the second briefing, it is about to begin. I will talk to the admiral afterwards, and see what I can do. She is not the worst captain, I have learned from experience."
"Very well, thank you Thirteen," she nodded. "I'm going to stop by sickbay on my way to the briefing. I'll see you up there," she said and left.

Thirteen entered the briefing room explaining that J'Leera would be a little late, but saying no more than that, as everyone else entered KezTrek watched their faces for signs of how they had reacted to the information she'd given them.
J'Leera finally showed up saying that Buster sent his apologies but he couldn't make the briefing. KezTrek didn't ask why, she assumed it was something very important and from the look darkening J'Leera's face it would take more than a two minute explanation. She decided to deal with the briefing first then see what was going on with her Science Officer and her Chief Medical Officer.
"By now you've all read over the padds I gave you, you know that the types of experiments being carried out and what little we know about who is involved. In less than 7 hours we will reach Tzenketh. When we do I want two teams on the surface. One science team to examine and collect all the materials left by Alaska and her team. Another for security, I do NOT want another situation like last time."
"Admiral Drew will be leading both teams, what he says you do, clear?" KezTrek said. She could feel Sam's eyes on her, curious as to why he wasn't leading the away team and it really wasn't that she didn't trust him, but the crew needed to adjust and throwing them head long into a potentially dangerous away mission with him wasn't going to do that, especially if anything DID go wrong.
"I want this ship air tight. Weapons, shields, engines. Admiral Drew will inform the away teams of their assignments before we reach Tzenketh. Computer, unseal doors and reactivate security measures, Dismissed." KezTrek ordered.
"J'Leera can you remain behind please." KezTrek said, giving Drew a nod that she'd see him outside in a few minutes.
"Admiral..." Thirteen tried to intervene.
"Wait outside Commander." KezTrek ordered him.
KezTrek sat down again motioning J'Leera closer. "Is something wrong? When you came in you seemed... upset and the Doctor was aware of the nature of this briefing why isn't he here?" KezTrek asked.
Rear Admiral KezTrek Commanding Officer

After the briefing, Drew left KezTrek to deal with her officers, with two away teams to arrange he wanted the chance to go over the crew manifest, and select the best people for the job.
“Captain Löhnen!” Drew called, seeing the Marine Officer walk past, “can I have a quick word?”
“Of course Admiral,” Danny answered interest in his voice.
“I want you to assemble a team of your best marines,” Drew said, “I want to be prepared for anything down there, we have some time before we need to be ready, so if you could prepare some drills on the holodeck as well, it would be great.”
“I’ll get right on it,” Danny replied, “are you expecting trouble?”
“I think it’s possible,” Drew answered truthfully, “and I don’t want to be caught unawares.”
“Don’t worry Admiral,” Danny said reassuringly, “my people will be ready.”
“Thanks,” Drew said, letting Danny get back to work.
Drew caught sight of Thirteen at Tactical, looking rather concerned, Drew guessed about J’Leera and KezTrek.
“Commander,” Drew said approaching him, “I presume you heard what me and Captain Löhnen were talking about?”
“Yes sir,” Thirteen answered.
“You will of course be heading up the security task force,” Drew said, “if you could work with the Marine Captain to insure everything is ready?”
“Of course Admiral,” Thirteen replied.
Drew thanked him, and then after leaving a message for J’Leera to arrange her science teams, left the bridge, heading for his quarters to prepare himself.

*Briefing Room* KezTrek waited patiently for J'Leera to answer, but the younger woman seemed almost afraid to. "I... the doctor had to treat a patient who was hurt on the holodeck because... because I turned off the safeties." J'Leera practically whispered the words, but KezTrek's hearing was superior to most humans and she heard it without difficultly. "Doctor Buster to Admiral KezTrek." The comm interrupted before KezTrek could formulate a reply. "Yes Doctor?" "I apologise for my absence at the meeting Admiral but..." "Its quite alright Doctor, Lt Cmdr Laika is here now explaining the situation to me, I will be down to see you shortly." KezTrek said cutting of the channel. "Admiral I know it's against regs to turn of the safeties, I meant to turn them back on when I was finished but I got hurt and I forgot." J'Leera tried to explain. "Breaking regs isn't the end of the world Miss Laika, this entire mission breaks at least a dozen, but you endangered the life of another member of this crew." KezTrek said. J'Leera cast her eyes towards the floor. "I know," she said quietly. "Return to your station until I can decide what to do about this." KezTrek ordered her, following her out. "I'll be in sickbay." She told Cmdr Wood, watching as Thirteen approached J'Leera before leaving the bridge. *Sickbay* "Doctor." "Admiral. Before we get into it, I... well I have to admit I knew that J'Leera had turned of the safeties, I treated her earlier, I was going to tell you but then..." KezTrek cut him of with a raised hand. "That’s not my primary concern right now, how is our young cadet?" KezTrek asked walking to the bed where he was unconscious. "Stable. I am confident he'll make a good recovery." Buster said. "Keep me informed." KezTrek told him. "Of course Admiral. Ma'am what... what's going to happen to J'Leera?" Buster asked. "I haven't yet decided." KezTrek told him. "Have you looked over the data provided?" KezTrek asked him. "Yes Admiral, a lot of the data was pretty confusing, but I think that the genetic experiments weren't to change the genetics of the Tzenketh, but to replicated them on the most basic level. It reminds me of research that was done in the 21st century, designer babies... taking the best parts of the human genome and putting them all together to form a perfect baby." Buster said. "Somehow I don't like the sound of that. When we reach Tzenketh I'm sending down an away team, they will be bringing back the equipment from the labs we found, I'd like you to work on finding out exactly what that equipment was being used for, maybe if we know exactly what it does we can figure out who is doing it." KezTrek ordered him, leaving sickbay again to return to the bridge. *Bridge – 7 Hours Later* KezTrek still hadn't decided what to do about J'Leera, except that whatever it was would have to wait, because they needed her scientific expertise on the away team. This was one part of being a Captain she hated... punishing her crew and was it really fair to punish J'Leera for breaking regs when she was doing the same thing... she just didn't know right then, nor did she have the time to worry about it. "Admiral we are in a stationary orbit." The helm officer told her. Max was a good pilot, KezTrek thought, not as good as Luke had been, but then as a pilot herself KezTrek was hard to please. "Admiral Drew... I don't suppose I need to tell you to be careful?" KezTrek asked with a wry smile. "No I don’t' suppose you do." Drew agreed, like he wasn't a trouble magnet of epic proportions. "Away team report to flight bay." Drew ordered over his comm badge. "Bring me back something nice." KezTrek told him with a blithe tone in her voice as Drew left the bridge, wishing as she always did that she could go with them, but she was more useful on the ship right now. Rear Admiral KezTrek Commanding Officer :: OFF :: The following people are assigned to the away team: Commander 1C Sam K'Vada Marine Captain Danny Löhnen Lt Commander Thirteen Commander 1C J'Leera Laika Lt Commander Max Bower (NPC)
All others officers are still on the Tigershark: Lt Buster - Sickbay Commander Ryerson Fitzpatrick - Engineering Commander 1C Wood - Bridge Acting Ensign Dontai - Bridge

This takes place right after the briefing, when Admiral Drew has ordered me to prepare the Marines.
Danny was on his way to the Holodeck to prepare for the Marine training mission. He still wasn't exactly sure what he would do to train them. On the one hand, Danny thought he ought to make it as realistically as possible, but on the other hand, the Marines should be well prepared and ready for anything. He reached the holodeck doors and decided to go for the worst case scenario. The doors opened and revealed the grey-yellow holodeck grid.
"Computer, start program Löhnen Delta 5, maximum difficulty level" Immediately the holodeck grid was replaced by a grey-black sky, cut to pieces by dazzeling flashes of lightning. The air resounded with ear-splitting thunders and the hurricane-like stormwinds made it difficult to walk. The pouring rain made it difficult to see more than three metres before you. Danny looked at the spectacle he had just awakened. "Perfect! Computer, save program and end it."
=^=Löhnen to 1st Marine Platoon, meet me in Holodeck 1 in exactly on hour from now. Löhnen out.=^=
Danny thought about the training he would give them. It would be spectacular. Perhaps it would be nice if Security joined in.
Danny found Thirteen on the Bridge. "Hey, I'm running a Marine drill on the holodeck in an hour. Care to join me with your teams?"

Thirteen sat at the security station at the bridge, waiting for the moment the rear admiral would be done with J'Leera. Rear admiral Drew approached him and told him to get a security team ready and coordinate things with Danny. After a few minutes J'Leera came out of the briefing room, and Thirteen got up and walked over to her. "How did it go?" he asked. "Well, not bad I guess, all she said was that she needed to think about what to do," J'Leera told.
"I think she will come around," Thirteen said. "I hope so." "Rear admiral Drew left a message for you, you are to arrange a science team for our field research on the Tzenketh planet." "Thanks," J'Leera said, "I'd better get to it then." She left the bridge.
Just as Thirteen was about to leave the bridge, headed for the security office to handpick the security officers for the away mission, Danny approached him, asking the presence of Thirteen's taskforce during a marine training. "That sounds like a relevant plan mister Lohnen," Thirteen said, "I will be sure to meet you at the holodeck in an hour, my team will be ready." Danny nodded and thanked him, and Thirteen went to the security office.
=/\= Doctor Buster, is there any chance that mister O'Sullivan can participate in the away mission? =/\=
=/\= Yes, and that chance is zero. I'm sorry Thirteen, he'll be staying here for the next few days. =/\=
=/\= Thank you doctor, Thirteen out. =/\=
=/\= Thirteen to mister James, are you fit enough to join the away mission. I find it understandable if you choose not to do so. =/\=
=/\= I'll be ready sir, don' worry. =/\=
Thirteen closed the commlink and called up a list of his officers. He picked three more officers. Five was the perfect number for a security team. He let the four security officers know about the agreement with marine captain Lohnen, and an hour later his and Danny's taskforces were assembled in holodeck 1.
"Okay people, listen up," Danny said, "this practice is to let both the security and the marine team get used to coordinating an away mission. We're going to run a simulation of an away mission under extreme conditions. You'll all be fitted with standard equipment as in phaser rifles and a phaser, a tricorder and in addition a personal communication system and goggles."
"The mission sounds simple, in essence, and is to wipe out the enemy. Who the enemy is, and where they are is yours to find out, but I repeat that this training is meant for the marine and the security teams to work together." Danny paused for a second. "Any questions?"
None came, and Danny initiated his program. The weather at the scene they arrived on was beyond bad. \oInteresting choice of environment captain,o/ Thirteen said via the comm system. \oThanks, I did my best,o/ Danny replied, \ookay lets move, Thirteen, ideas?o/ \oI suggest we begin with a circle movement around the terrain, we will meet each other on the other side again.o/ \oSounds good, we'll stay in touch, good luck commander.o/ \oAnd you captain,o/ Thirteen said, changing his comm channel to team only.
He motioned for the security officers that the sweep would commence, and off they went. The heavy downpour of rain limited their vision severely. \Team, engaged your goggles, put them on infrared vision,/ Thirteen ordered his taskforce, and they followed him in doing so. The red haze that now covered their eyes gave their surroundings a surreal, eerie look.
Within a short period of time the entire team was soaked wet as they plunged trough the muddy earth. At first it appeared as if they had come to a rocky plane, but slowly trees began to cluster to the left of them, first sporadically, then forming a forest. \Looks like th' perfect place f'r a hideout sir,/ Jonesy came in over the comm. \Correct cadet,/ Thirteen said. \oCaptain Lohnen, come in please.o/ \oLohnen here, what's your status Thirteen?o/ \oWe have just come across what might be a place for their hideout,o/ Thirteen said, \owhat are your coordinates?o/
Danny gave Thirteen the necessary data. \oThat is approximately two kilometers from our position, I am going into the vegetation, see what we can find, perhaps you can come here too and sweep the forest its edges,o/ Thirteen said. \oCopy that Thirteen, Danny out.o/ \Okay team, we are to enter the forest. Be on your guard, set phaser rifles to stun,/ Thirteen said. His taskforce did as they were told, and the four security officers and their commander entered the strangely eyeing forest, illuminated by the red haze of their goggles.

Max smacked his head against the console hard. He was lying underneath a partially built system-station in Astrometrics. Luke had left him a list a mile long of systems that needed upgrading or repairing.
He stood up and tapped a few buttons on the console.
=^= System Astrometrics Pi Beta Online =^= The computer sounded.
"Excellent." Max muttered to himself.
Max brushed himself down and left Astrometrics. Admiral KezTrek had told him earlier that he would be joining the away team, he was glad - he most definately had to get off the ship...

Off: Mr Dontai, we're currently running a joint Marine/Security training operation in Holodeck 1. You're free to join us if you like. Please read the posts from my first post on this page down to get up to speed with what we are doing and you can join in.
Löhnen
On: Danny and his team had searched the grounds. Danny's team was tired, soaked and in a thoroughly bad mood when Thirteen asked Danny to join his team in a sweep and search of the forest about two kilometres from Danny's current position. Of course, Danny had agreed.
Danny knew this program, he had created it himself but due to the special creativity algorithms, the program was never the same. Each time it was a surprise hwta the landscape would be, how strong the enemy was and with how many they would be. The special surprise was that the enemy found new hiding places all the time. Danny agreed with Thirteen's call. the forest would be one of the most likely places. He turned to his XO. "Sergeant O'Connor, split the squad into three groups of three and have them move to the forest. Make sure they check their position regularly, I don't want them shooting Commander Thirteen's team." Gunnery Sergeant Liam O'Connor acknowledged the order with a nod of his head. He turned around and started shuting orders. "All right, you heard the Captain. Split up. We'll take the Northern route to the forest, I want 15 to 20 metres distance between the teams. Make sure you shoot the bogeys, not the good guys. Move out!"
Quickly and orderly, the Marines moved out at double tempo. They had to cross two kilometres in the most terrible circumstances imaginable before Commander Thirteen and his men had moved too far into the forest. About 15 minutes later, they finally arrived at their destination.
^Löhnento Tirteen^, Danny said over the comm, ^We've arrived at the forest from the North. If you take the Southern route, we'll meet in the middle.^^Roger that, see you in the middle,^ Thirteen acknowledged.
Danny and his team moved into the forest. It was cold and damp and they could almost feel the darkness. It was unnaturally quiet under the trees. The sound of the thunder came through lwith a sound like someone was tearing a muffled old newspaper and the lightning was completely blocked out by the heavy leaves in the primordial trees. If Danny and his team had still believed in ghosts in the 24th century, this would have been the most perfect ghost hide-out on this side of the galaxy. Every second they expected some supernatural monster to emerge from behind one of the big, slimy trees.
The team put their infra-red goggles on and immediately, the dark forest was slightly illumind by the red haze of the goggles. But even this was hardly enough to see where they were going. One of the younger Marines made for his flashlight, but Sergeant O'Connor stopped him. "Not yet private, it might alert the enemy we're here," he said whispering. Even the sound of O'Connor's voice sounded unnatural, as if the immense trees sucked up every sound. The teams advanced, walking softly over the dead leaves and heaven knows what else on the ground. Danny could hear the nervous breathing of some of the younger Marines. Indeed, it was nearly impossible to imagine that the forest was only a holodeck creation of light and photons bundled together by some fancy screws and wires of the holodeck's imaging systems. It felt too real for that and Danny could hardly blame the rookies for being scared.
Sometimes they thought they saw something, but it always proved to be a young Marine's imagination running wild. On two or three occasions, it was a wild beast which had vanished before they could even see what it was. Suddenly, the three right in front of Danny burst into flames. "Take cover! Take cover! We're under attack!" Danny yelled to the team as he ducked for cover while all hell broke loose around him. ^Thirteen, Thirteen, come in Thirteen, we've engaged the enemy! Repeat, we've engaged the enemy!^

J'Leera went up to the briefing room dreading her encounter with Admiral Keztrek. She didn't know how she was going to react, so she couldn't help but to worry. "The waiting part is always the worst," she thought. "I wish it were already over with!"
She went in silently and took her seat. Admiral Keztrek gave her a questioning look, but did not say anything. What J'Leera needed to say would be better said after the briefing. "Doctor Buster will be unable to join us," she said before sititing down. "He sends his regrets."
Admiral Keztrek nodded and started the briefing. J'Leera tried to focus on what she was saying, but she found it rather difficult. As Keztrek spoke, she nervously pulled at her hair and tried very hard not to fidget. The mission sounded very straight forward and soon she began to realize that whatever punishment she was going to get, would have to be done after the mission since they obviously needed her. This calmed her somewhat.
When the briefing was over, Admiral Keztrek called her over and asked her to explain what was going on. J'Leera took a deep breath and quietly told her. Explaining it to her CO was even more embarrassing than telling Thirteen. She was ashamed of what she had done and hoped that she could make it right.
She let out a slight sigh of relief, but inside she knew that the punishment had only been delayed. For now she could bury herself in her work in hopes of forgetting it, but she wouldn't be able to do it for long.
On her way out, she ran into Thirteen. "How did it go?" he wanted to know.
J'Leera forced a smile. "Well, not bad I guess, all she said was that she needed to think about what to do."
"I think she will come around," Thirteen said.
"I hope so."
"Rear admiral Drew left a message for you, you are to arrange a science team for our field research on the Tzenketh planet."
"Thanks," J'Leera said, "I'd better get to it then," she said grateful for the work.

Thunder crashed in the sky above the forest, setting it ablaze during the thunderbolts that lit the sky. The goggles made it look only worse. Thirteen had his team engage their safety pattern, assembling the four officers around him, all facing another direction. They moved slowly this way, but would be sure to see everything that tried to sneak up on them.
They advanced deeper into the woods. All of a sudden an energy discharge came from Thirteen's side. Jonesy had pulled the trigger. \Explain yourself cadet,/ Thirteen said, as he and the other officers had turned the weapons the face the same position. \Woops, sorry folks, 't must've been an animal or somethin',/ Jonesy's voice came over the comm. \Do not fire unless you are certain of an encounter with the enemy, we must prevent unnecessary gunfire,/ Thirteen said.
They went on through the vegetation. The growth wasn't very restricting, but they couldn't keep their formation the entire time. Then the trees took another pattern, and due to the weather conditions it took a while to realize it, but they had found some kind of road winding its way through the forest. It was broad enough for a battalion to march on. Then Danny's call came in, agreeing that Thirteen and his force would head north, and Danny's troops would go the opposite way, so that they'd meet in the middle.
Thirteen and his security officers ventured forth, following the curving road. \Sir?/ \Ensign?/ \Mister James is no longer with us sir,/ one of the officers said. Thirteen stopped dead, and looked around, trying to call James on the comm system. No response. Jonesy had been covering the back. The rain pounded down on the ground, any footprints that were left were washed away immediately. \We must remain logical, we cannot search for him,/ Thirteen said. \Sir, how is this possible, we're in such a close formation!/ one of the officers said. \Correct, but apparently our foe is watching our moves, and they struck at the time that we did not look, we must remain calm, and move on, be on your guard,/ Thirteen said.
\oMister Lohnen, we have a man down, he has disappeared, but we cannot search for him. Be very careful, whatever we are up against is good,o/ Thirteen informed the other team. \oRoger that Thirteen, be careful.o/ Thirteen's taskforce adapted their formation to the circumstances, and the followed the road deeper into the forest, now with one man less. As they went on, the road suddenly widened to reveal an open spot in the forest. But the spot was occupied. A large, gray, rectangle building rose from the ground. Water came gushing off the roof, and slammed holes into the ground as it reached impact.
Several lights attached to the side of the facility illuminated the open spot, and cast their artificial light on the trees that surrounded the building. The comm made a few strange noises, as if it were somehow distorted. \Mister James? Mister James come in,/ Thirteen tried again. But the line remained static. Then in came a call that he did understand, captain Lohnen and his marines were in trouble, as they had engaged the enemy.
Thirteen reached for his tricorder, and had it extrapolate how far it would be to get to Danny. One kilometer. \Hold your rifles ready, we must help the marines, we need to make a run for them, but keep your eyes opened at all times,/ Thirteen ordered, as he and the remainder of his security officers hurried off into a sprint.
As they ran Thirteen did what he could to keep an eye on their changing surroundings, but the weather made it very difficult, and the goggles weren't the greatest help. \Halt!/ Thirteen called all of a sudden, and the security officers skidded to a stop. \What is that?/ he asked, pointing at something that was drawn over the road. The officers held their guns ready to fire, their fingers at the trigger, and one of them advanced. \Sir, it's a simple piece of rope, but it could have caused all of us to trip,/ the officer notified.
They stepped over it and continued, but came to a halt right away again. Something was moving in between the trees next to them. What happened next took place in a mere part of a second. A dark shadow lunged from the trees, straight at Thirteen. A flash of light filled the air, and the creature fell to the ground as a limp bundle. The officers scanned the bushes for more enemies, but this appeared to be the only one.
Thirteen kneeled next to it, and retrieve a device from the creature's hand. The creature was reptilian shaped, like a salamander, but then walked on two muscular legs. Thirteen studied the piece of equipment, and discovered a switch. It began made strange beeping noises in what appeared to be random order. But the frequency became faster, and suddenly Thirteen realized what he was holding. \On the ground, now!/ he called as he slung the device as far away as he could. As it flew past the first row of trees next to the path and was about to pass the second row it detonated.
The goggles showed that hot shrapnel had sprouted from the projectile, and the trees the device had detonated next to made a loud snapping noise, as they came crashing down to earth, the shrapnel had cut them in half. \That was close,/ Thirteen said with an informative voice. \Let us move on./
They went on, and could hear and see gunfire up ahead. They broke into a sprint, and ran towards the scene. Thirteen ordered his men (and one woman) to take cover behind the trees, as he saw reptilians sprinting through the forest up ahead. They carried strange weapons, of which the shape appeared to change as soon as they had been discharged, only to take their form again and fire another round.
From his position Thirteen was able to snipe down two reptilians with clean shots. His officers took care of a few too. But there were more. \oDanny we have arrived at the scene, we will try to work our way to you,o/ Thirteen informed Danny. \oOkay Thirteen, we noticed your presence.o/ \Be sure not to shoot any marines,/ Thirteen said to his team as he took aim and missed a Reptilian. A yell came over the comm, and Thirteen looked around to see one of his officers lying on the ground, a blue ball of energy impacted at the officer's feet, and splattered mud all over the man. Thirteen noticed how the ball had come from above, and look up to find that reptilians were also in the trees, taking aim at them. \oDanny, we are camping with a difficult foe, watch out, they are in the trees too, it might take a bit longer before we can get to you, hold on.o/ \Listen team, you have been trained for this, let us take care of this situation, as I know we can./

Max was the first to the Shuttle bay and so decided that he would prep the shuttle. As far as he knew he was the only pilot on this away mission so that means he got to fly a shuttle - something he never got to do when Luke was around.
"Alright Bert?!" Max called to one of the flight technicians.
"Yeah, yeah. You know Bow, you know!" He said in response.
Max surpressed a chuckle. Not many people ever understood Bert Harris. He never gave a straight answer, he usually turned it round to another question. He also smiled at the use of his nickname, everyone had called him Bow on the flight deck since his arrival on the Tiger Shark. It was a long story but it involved a song and a lot of T'Kalia brandy...
"Which shuttle are we taking down Bert?" Max asked, after walking across the flight deck.
"Suetonius." Bert replied. "She's a might fine vessel, aint she?"
"Yup, one of the best - that's why she's on the Tiger Shark. Anyway Bert, I'll let you get on. I'm going to prep this baby for launch." He said patting the side of the shuttle affectionately.

--On the TS-- Sam was still furious, why wasn't he in charge of the away team. Now is a snobby admiral in charge of my away team. **When I get back to the TS I have to talk to Adm. KezTrek about it.** Sam thought. Sam grabbed his tricorder, phaser, padds and some other medical equipment. In this mission his medical skills would come in handy. "Luckaly I just chaught up with my Xeno-medicine. This will be quite use full." Sam said to him self. Sam left for the shuttlebay
--shuttlebay-- sam entered. When he was just in Capt. Löhnen and Cmdrs Laika and Thirteen entered. A few seconds later Adm Drew entered. "All ready?" Drew asked and they all agreed and took their place in the shuttle. The shuttle left the TS.
--Planet surface-- The shuttle landed on the planet. The team left the shuttle. sam began to scan. "Sir, I'm not detecting anyother lifeforms then Tzenkethy and us." Sam told Adm. Drew "Than you Cmdr. K'Vada." Drew answered "Please set up your equipment and make a more thorough scan." "We'll do." Sam replied "Cmdr. Laika could you give me a hand with this scaner?"
<TAG: Laika>
OFF: Adm. Drew my remark about you isn't ment it's just that Sam is [word deleted] off. Could some one tell me if Cmdr. Thirteen and Capt. Löhnens post are on the holodeck or on the planet.

KezTrek watched Drew leave the bridge with something akin to trepidation. She knew she couldn't put K'Vada in command of the away team it was too soon, but likewise sending a Starfleet Admiral into a potentially dangerous situation, especially one she'd known as long as she had known Paul Drew...
She listened in as Lt Cmdr Bower requested permission from flight deck to take off and then sat back down in her command chair waiting for word from the away team... she hated the waiting.
"Captain the shuttle has landed on the planets surface." Wood reported.
"Keep tabs on them Commander." KezTrek told him, her fingers trailing over the small screen beside her tapping a few buttons to bring up the lifesigns displays from the ops console.
"The landing site is two kilometres north west of the cave system we found the labs in, the away team is heading towards it through the forest, there are no other lifesigns in the vicinity." Wood informed her.
KezTrek didn't respond, watching instead the progress of the away team on the monitor by her chair and waited.

It was night on Earth, though Sianna Ako was still wide awake. Lately, she had trouble getting to sleep and the wardens wouldn't give her any medication to help her get some sleep. She was already on medication to keep her calm and she was on lithium treatment for her depression episodes.
The Trill lieutenant lay on her bed and glanced around her little cell. It was sparsely furnished, and there were no objects present that could possibly function as an item to hurt herself. Sianna's mind went back to the day that she had been admitted to the hospital for the mentally unstable in Lyon, France.
"Mais oui," the chief warden had said as it was explained to him what was ailing the young Trill, "c'est bien. Nous prendrons le bon soin d'elle."
Sianna had gazed at the gray-haired male intently, though she had understood every word he'd said. One of her past hosts had been a teacher in Earth languages, and French had been among them.
"I have no doubt that I shall be cared for," she'd said. She had pointed out to her superiors that she'd needed help, and not just in dealing with her symbiont's past memories. She had however declined to go back to the Trill homeworld.
She had been here for four months now, and her doctors said that she was improving. Suddenly Sianna heard a quiet knock on her door, which usually was locked from the outside. "Come"," she called, as she pulled on her bathrobe.
Sianna heard a key turn in the old fashioned lock and a beep as a plastic ID card was pulled through a card reader. By the time the door opened she sat serenely on the edge of her bed, waiting for her guest to enter. Doctor Ian O'Daye glanced around the room which was dimly lit and smiled as he saw his favourite patient sitting on the bed, waiting for him.
"Orders have come through for your release," O'Day whispered, in an attempt not to wake up Sianna's room-mate. "A Klingon shuttle is waiting for you just outside the main entrance."
Sianna looked up at him questioningly. "But I am not yet ready to be released," she returned in a whisper, fear clearly visible in her eyes, "please let me stay."
Ian shook his head as he walked over to the closet to gather the few belongings Sianna had brought with her. Amongst them was a teal starfleet uniform. "I will however keep this for you," he said, "as you are not cleared for regular duty yet. But your release has been ordered, and there is nothing I can do to change that at present. I have been out-talked in this. I did tell them that you weren't ready, believe me."
Sianna sighed and got up to get dressed. "Very well," she said, though she was clearly unhappy, "how much medication do I get to take with me?"
"None," O'Day said, then handed her a hypospray, "but I am giving you your next scheduled dosis of Lithium anyway. Do please use it, but do not let your pilot see that you have it. I am very sorry Sianna, if I had been able to veto this decision I would have."
Sianna walked over to her doctor and gave him a swift hug. "I know Ian," she whispered in his ear, "I shall miss you terribly but I shall write you when I can, I promise."
"Watch yourself counselor Ako," Ian whispered back, "I have this feeling that you will encounter grave dangers."
Only minutes later, she boarded the klingon courier shuttle, but there was no pilot aboard. As soon as the on board systems registered her presence, the autopilot kicked in. Sianna settled herself in the pilot's seat and watched the controls intently. She had no idea what to think of the course that was apparently programmed in, but one of her past hosts apparently knew because a memory coursed through her and she gasped as she sat back.
Hours later, Klingon shuttle Daj entered orbit around Tzenketh and by now Sianna had fallen into the role of her past host Merena Ako, who had been a mad scientist killed in the eugenics war. She watched as the USS Tiger Shark B entered orbit around the planet, and she smiled cruelly. Daj was cloaked, and undetectable to the Starfleet vessel's sensors, for which Sianna was glad.
The Trill counselor had discovered a PADD with instructions that she had to follow, once she came to Tzenketh, but right now, they could wait. With interest, she watched the movements of the Tiger Shark; her time would come soon, very soon.

Off: Commander K'Vada,
The posts by Thirteen and myself are set in Holodeck 1. We're conducting a joint Security/Marine training excercise at the orders of Admiral Drew, but giving the pending away mission, we're finishing up there.
Trees exploded in huge balls of fire. Two of Danny's Marines had been violently shot down and the new sound they heard probably meant that some of the alien attackers had found a supply of shock granades. Danny and his team advanced, keeping a watchful eye on the trees. Thirteen had said that the aliens were in the trees as well. Danny as yet hadn't seen them, but that didn't mean they weren't there.
Suddenly, he felt something drop. He was just about to order his team to take cover against the shock granade when it exploded. Danny was sent flying backward and he landed hard against a tree. His groggy vision was slowly restoring itself when he saw a dozen or more aliens jumpo down from the great heights of the primordial trees. Danny grabbed his phaser when suddenly........
=^=Admiral Drew to Holodeck 1. How far are you? I need you to prepare for the away mission.=^=
Danny shot one alien and then terminated the program. All around him, he could hear sighs of relief when the terrible forest and their attackers disappeared and the gloomy, but safe, yellow-grey holodeck grid returned.
=^=Löhnen to Admiral Drew, we're on our way sir.=^=

Rye now sat in his secondary engineering station on the bridge, awaiting Admiral Keztrek’s call to the briefing room. He monitored a few repair efforts being done to the plasma injectors by his staff, and ran a level 1 diagnostic of the power transfer systems.
Rye heard the buzz of the electrically motivated doors leading to the bridge, and glanced over to see Admiral Keztrek. She strode into her ready room, and a few moments later, he heard the call concerning the meeting go through the comm.. Rye got up from his seat, and walked into the observation lounge. He walked up to the replicator, where he requested a mug of hot white chocolate. He sat down with his drink, and awaited the entry of his comrades. Quickly, all of the officers entered their seats, and within 2 minutes, the admiral walked in to commence the meeting. She explained their orders, and Rye was taken aback, along with the rest of the senior staff. Admiral Keztrek made an offer for anyone to leave. Absurd. No one on the Tiger would consider leaving after what had happened to Luke and Commander Bower. Of course this proved to be accurate, as no one mentioned their desire to leave, and Danny made clear the staff’s feelings.
Rye left the meeting with a PADD full of data, vital to the new mission. He went down to his office on Deck 7, and read through the data. He also examined the starcharts, which had not yet been identified. Rye set the computer to use all means possible to identify, and label these odd charts.
Now, Rye turned his attention to some of the weapons found down on the planet. The design and function of these weapons was similar toboth Romulan and Ferengi in design. Some used a duomagnetic stabilizer to produce a highly refined beam, with good control, while some had geoindemic enhancer to add a better tracking system to these lighter weapons.
Rye was going to have his hands full, and prepared himself for a long day of decypering.

Stepping down from the Suetoniu’s platform, Drew took a sniff of the air. Like every other planet he had visited, this one had a smell like no other, although it sure as heck reminded him of coffee.
Around him the other members of the Away Team started to look round, Danny and Thirteen were already checking the area was secure, while Sam and J’Leera were setting up there scanning equipment. Max Bower was standing eagerly next to Drew, and Drew rather suspected the Lt. Commander was under orders from Kez to make sure no harm came to him.
“Sir, I’m not detecting any other life forms then Tzenkethy and us,” Sam reported.
“Thank you Commander,” Drew said, “please set up your equipment and make a more thorough scan.”
As Sam and J’Leera busied themselves setting up the equipment the away team was going to need, Drew approached Danny and Thirteen.
“Are both your teams ready?” Drew asked.
“Aye sir,” Danny answered, “we put them through there paces.”
“Good,” Drew said with a smile, “let’s send a small scouting party out to check the area, while Sam and J’Leera set us up, soon as they are ready, we’ll begin our approach to the labs.”
While Danny and Thirteen made the arrangements, Drew hailed KezTrek on the Tiger Shark.
“We have touch down with no problems,” Drew told her over the comm, “we are making the preliminary scans before going further.”
“Understood,” KezTrek answered rather formally, “keep me informed.”
As he closed the channel, Drew spotted Sam and J’Leera trying to get his attention, nodding to Danny and Thirteen he headed towards them.
“Status?” he asked the science team as he approached.

"Sir, we've set up the scanning equipment." J'Leera began "And the preliminary scan suggest nothing out of the ordinary." Then the device Sam and J'Leera made began to bleep. "Sir, the complete scan has just finished." Sam said to Adm. Drew "What does it say?" Drew asked "Life form scan: An humanoid life form is dominating this world there are several chordata animals and countess other animals." Sam began "They are all carbon based. The soil: in this place is rich in iron, copper and aluminum. The air is 20 % oxygen, 60% nitrogen and 20% argon." "well that's nothing special." Drew said "No I thought so either." Sam said "Wait a minute. J'Leera what do you make of this magnetic field? Could it be a force field?"

Dontai ruffled through his stuff. Dontai had took leave of absence even from the Bellicose. even whith out the captin permission. He didnt think she would mind, it was his R&R. He boarded on a freighter carring dilithium to Remantis the star system whith his home colony. He had spent the last two weeks their whith his old buddys, Minos Korva and Craig palmer. He boarded a return ship 2 day late after his leave of absence was over. He want it be longer but ah can't change things. Now acourse he was in a hurry to get ready and be on time. His ship had dock right on schedul, but it seem he wasnt. He took one last look at his Bellicose temporary quarters and then was rushing out the door, straightening his starfleet uniform on the way to the turbo lift.....
(10 min later): The turbolift came to stop at the bridge. He exist it and came at a stance next to KezTrek
Dontai "Sir Ens. Dontai reporting as ordered."

Buster was still very busy treating Mark, who wasn't showing much signs of recovery. Buster knew that Mark was most likely not going to make it, but there was still a tiny sparkle of hope that kept him busy. Giving up on a patient wasn't something Buster was ever going to do anyway.
Buster reached the point where he had did all he could. If Mark would survive or not was now mostly due to his own recovery. It looked bad, Buster knew. He didn't want to see Mark die, even though he hardly knew him. He was a crewmember afterall, and losing a patient was a doctor's worst nightmare.
Buster sighed and checked the natural recovery process of Mark. He groaned when he noticed that it was pretty non existant.
Every minute, Mark's chances of survival grew slimmer, while they were supposed to improve. Small drops of sweat could be seen on Buster's forehead. He was stressed. No way Mark would die, not if Buster could help it.
Buster took a small device used for tissue regeneration from the desk next to the bed. It probably wouldn't help too much, but Buster couldn't stand around doing nothing. Maybe it would just be the small extra needed to help Mark recover again. Buster was about to try it when that dream was blasted to smithereens. A continueous beep informed Buster that despite his refusal to let Mark die, Mark himself had just given up. He was dead.
Buster just stood there, his mind totally empty. He still had the device in his hand and just stared at Mark, listening to the beep...

KezTrek was waiting on the bridge, fighting the urge to pace, had she always been like this when an away team was off the ship? She couldn't remember if she had, but her nerves were jittery and she felt sure someone was wrong, but she had no idea what it was.
She was watching the little screen behind her when she heard the swoosh of the turbolift doors, but it wasn't really anything out of the ordinary so KezTrek didn't even look up.
"Admiral." Buster's voice interrupted her train of thought and she looked up to ask the doctor what he wanted.
The look on his face was one of grim determination mixed with more than a little sadness. KezTrek didn't really need to ask, once she'd seen that look, she knew. She'd seen the look before on more than one doctors face right before they told her a member of her crew was dead.
"My ready room doctor." KezTrek said not wanting the rest of the crew to hear this conversation, she would tell them of course in her own time, but she didn't need rumours flying around right now and if the crew members on the bridge knew it'd be around the ship before the away team got back and even if she had no other reason, KezTrek most certainly didn't want J'Leera hearing the news from anyone but her.
KezTrek sat down on the sofa and made a gesture for Buster to sit down as well.
"I did everything I could Admiral..." Buster began, but KezTrek put her hand on his arm in a gesture both of comfort and to silence him. She knew... knew that he'd done everything he could, there was no doubt of that in her mind and she could sense the anguish without needing to touch his mind, it permeated his whole being.
"I know Doctor. This needs to be kept quiet for the moment, I can't have the crew distracted. I know it sounds cold but... can you keep the body in cryostasis?" KezTrek asked.
Buster looked surprised, but nodded.
"Good. Doctor, I know this seems... unfeeling... but I must put my crew before my own personal feelings and the security of the federation before all else. I know I can rely on your digression." KezTrek said, dismissing him.
KezTrek took a few minutes to compose herself, closing her eyes and breathing deeply until she was sure her emotions were in check. On the one hand part of her was raging at the loss of a crew member, especially in such a senseless way, on the other she was deeply saddened and worried not only for Mark, but for J'Leera who she was certain would not take the news well, but neither of these things could get in the way, she couldn't let them.
Straightening her uniform KezTrek re-entered the bridge, ignoring the look Wood directed at her as she took her seat again.
"Status of the away team?" she requested.

Drew took a look at the screen readout Sam had mentioned; the readings were indeed consistent with a forcefield.
“I’ll have the marines and security team move into position,” Drew said, “you two work on a way of finding the force-field’s frequency.”
“Aye sir,” both answered, turning there attention’s to there makeshift consoles.
“Commander, Marine Captain,” Drew said, approaching the two commando leaders, “the area appears clear, there is a forcefield protecting the lab, I have the science team working on a way to crack the frequency, but I also want you to move your teams into position.”
“Shall we force our way in Sir?” Thirteen asked.
“It may be something we have to do,” Drew replied, “stand by with photonic charges.”
“When we get inside, we tag everything right?” Danny asked.
“Yep, everyone should have been issued with transporter tags, anything that looks important, tag and beam up.”
Minutes later, the two Starfleet teams – marines and security officers were in secure positions outside the lab, each with a phaser rifle aimed at the only entrance point. As ordered, Thirteen was setting up phonetic charges, just incase the science team couldn’t lower the force field. The explosions would have the disadvantage of alerting whoever was in the lab of there arrival, but at least the team would be in.
Drew himself was in another position, one where he could see all three teams under his charge, he had a type two phaser in his hand, ready to take part in whatever might happen, his tricorder was also flipped opened. Tapping his comm badge he hailed the three team leaders;
“Drew to all teams, as soon as the forcefield is down move in."

From the main window on her shuttle, Sianna saw a small shuttle craft leaving the hangar bay of the USS Tiger Shark. Quickly, she entered a command into her computer, telling it to have sensors track the movements of the shuttle, and its occupants. She say back, smiling as she watched the shuttle land, and the occupants fan out around the shuttle.
She was, however, less pleased when they found the building containing her laboratories. Growling in dismay, she continued to watch as these aliens filed through the building, touching her precious equipment.
~speaking of which~ she thought, and got up from her seat. Carefully, she entered the aft section of her shuttle, and gazed around her small laboratory. "Soon my precious," she whispered, as she glanced at a statis tube that was home to a young male of approximately 16 standard years old, "soon you will be woken up, and your DNA shall be used for glorious means."
She opened a cryo unit and retrieved a small vial. "These cells contain the DNA with which I shall make an entire army," she whispered, as she revered the vial. Slowly, she set it to thaw until the medium containing the cells was semi-fluid. "Now, where did they stash the culture flasks," she muttered, as she rummaged through a cub-board. "Ah, here we are," she said triumphantly, then went to retrieve the bottle of fresh culture medium.
In half an hour's time, she had set the fresh frozen cells to incubate in new medium. "Soon, I shall have enough cells to extract DNA from," she muttered, as she walked back to the command area of the shuttle. In doing so, she passed a mirror, and she froze.
"What am I doing?" Sianna whispered, as she looked squarely at her reflection, "this is insane." Yet strong thoughts coming from the symbiont, which carried past host memories, convinced her that she was doing this for the good of the universe. "If you say so," Sianna said weakly, suddenly feeling extremely scared.
She fished around in her pocket for her final dose of lithium and she gazed at the vial. "Not yet," she told herself, "I may be going mad, but soon I'll be madder still. Better save this dose until then." She pocketed the vial again, and sat down to monitor the Tiger Shark, and the shuttle with its occupants.
Then her sensors beeped at her, and she glanced at the data stream. A devlish smile crept across her face, as she read the data carefully. "Ah, now this may come in handy." She patted the console, as if it were a pet. "Nicely done," she said. "Computer, I am going to take a brief rest. Notify me when the shuttle returns to the ship."
=^= Acknowledged =^=
Sianna retired to the sleeping area of the shuttle, but not before checking the fuel reserves. The result worried her; in three hours, her orbit would decay because of lack of fuel. She would have to land the shuttle without being detected, as when fuel failed, cloak would fail also. "I'll worry about that later," she muttered, as she crawled into bed.
