"Is everything ok Lt?" Luke asked.
“Yeah I think so sir, but…”Kirk was cut off by Commander Dowding’s raised hand.
Kirk looked in the direction of where Luke was looking, adjusting his ocular implant to see in thermal Kirk could clearly see a humanoid figure sitting behind what now appeared to no longer be a jungle but a Federation starships station. Kirk tried to quietly inform Commander Dowding of what he was seeing found Dowding having a hard time reading the silent gestures he was making. After a few touch and go tried Dowding was finally able to make out the word Vulcan rolling off Kirks silent lips.
Commander Dowding proceeded to the left of the jungle scene pointing to the right side for Kirk to make his approach on the unknown target. Kirk slowly crept along the jungle keeping his rifle at waste level and ready to fire at a moments notice.
"I know you are there Commander Dowding. I am Lieutenant Sovals, and I can help you."
Kirk quickly took a knee as the lone voice shattered the silence the room was enjoying. Holding the compression rifle up to his shoulder Kirk took careful aim on the single heat signature showing on the display from his ocular implant ready to fire at a moments notice.
"How do you think you can help?" Luke asked, getting closer to the Vulcan.
"I can see through the illusions these creatures plant in our minds." He said simply.
Kirk activated the targeting system through the ocular implant aiding him if he had to fire the weapon at the mysterious Vulcan. Things grew complicated as Dowding drew closer to the Vulcan blending the two heat signatures into one sold blob of humanoid heat.
"Lieutenant Kirk, come over here please." Luke said.
Kirk squinted his eyes in a silent display of disagreement. The figure he saw through his ocular implant was indeed in the room with them and humanoid, but that was all Kirk could make out. It could have easily been one of the little aliens sending out a mental projection of himself as a Vulcan.
"I can train you to see through the illusions as well." Sovals said.
Kirk lowered his rifle as he drew closer. He did not want to appear hostile if this turned out to be a ruse by the aliens. Kirk kept his distance from Dowding and the Vulcan as he quickly scanned the room with his thermals just in case there were other real life forms in the room he had not spotted before.

The Tiger Shark hung limply in space. Her nacelles, once so full of colour, now dark and empty. The Main Hull was covered in gaping holes, some large enough to fit a several runabouts in.
Throughout the ship hundreds lay dead, a similar number injured - on the brink of death. Luke lay alone on the Bridge, surrounded by fallen debris. He simply gazed at the ceiling.
"I lost her..." He muttered.
"COMMANDER DOWDING!"
"She's gone..."
"LUKE!"
"What have I done?..."
"Hit him."
"I will not."
"Do it."
"You do it."
"Fine."
Luke's eyes snapped open as he felt a hand wack across his face.
"What the..." He muttered.
"The aliens got inside your mind Sir." Kirk answered.
"That is why I must train you against their probing thoughts." Sovals said.
Luke frowned and rubbed his face. "Who hit me?" He asked.
He heard laughter from behind him so Luke stood to his feet and turned.
"Max!" He yelled and approached his friend slowly. "I thought..."
"An illusion." He said. "Come on Lukey, work it out. They've been playing with us all this time. Now we just have to figure out how we can have a bit of fun with them."
Luke sighed. "So Lieutenant Sovals." He started. "What can we do to stop the intrusions into our mind."
Sovals remained quiet for a minute before answering. "Like I said, you humans may not be able to work this technique."
Luke smiled, remembering just how annoying Vulcans could be. He hoped KezTrek never, ever heard him say that.
"I understand Lieutenant. However, surely it's worth a try?"
Sovals nodded. "Logic dictates we should at least attempt the meld."
"I'm sorry what." Max said.
"The meld, I cannot teach you how to do this with words." Sovals replied, unpreterbed by Max's reaction.
Luke eyed Sovals suspiciously. If he were an alien then this would provide a perfect way to get further into their minds.
"How can we be sure that you are who you say you are?" Luke asked.
"You cannot." Sovals simply replied.
"Mmmmhh..." Luke looked at Kirk, and then Max. "Well Gentlemen. What do you suggest?"
Max spoke up first, as usual. "No way in hell Sir. He is not going in my mind, had enough of that in the past couple of hours." He paused. "Unless you order me of course Sir."
Luke smiled and then turned to Kirk. "Lieutenant?"

Luke smiled and then turned to Kirk. "Lieutenant?"
Seeing as he was the lowest ranking officer it would have to be up to him be the first to undergo this training. Kirk personally did not like the idea of somebody probing around in his mind; he had enough of that as a Borg drone.
“Do not be alarmed by what you see in there.” Kirk said to Sovals.
The Vulcan placed both his hands on Kirk’s face, place both of his thumbs on Kirk’s chin, his pointer and middle fingers on Kirk’s cheekbone, his left ring fingers on Kirk’s eyebrow and his right ring finger on top of Kirk’s ocular implant. The Vulcan raised his eyebrow, as it was clear he had never tried to meld with a former drone before. His pinky fingers finally found their places on Kirk’s temples.
Kirk’s vision flashed as the Vulcan began to enter his mind; this was a new experience for Kirk, as he had never had a mind meld before.
“My mind to your mind, your mind to my mind.” Sovals repeated quietly.
Kirk closed his eyes trying to focus all his attention away from the uncontrollable feeling to fight the invading mind from linking with his. Voices, flashing lights and the sounds of children playing were things Kirk heard in his mind.
Lieutenant, we have linked. Open your eyes and receive me.
Kirk opened his eyes slowly and found himself surrounded by nothingness; this realm was bright white causing Kirk to squint his eyes as Sovals slowly came into focus.
Dowding and Max watched as Sovals moved his fingers around Kirk’s cheekbone constantly adjusting his connection with the Lieutenant. Sovals could hear Max and Dowding whispering but could not make out the words.
Let go Kirk, I cannot help you if you fight me.
Sorry, it is a force of habit.
The realm Kirk and Sovals were in grew bright and soon the intensity surrounded both of them, in a flash Kirk shook from the trance he was just in. Looking around he saw Max and Dowding standing in the corner of the room whispering to each other.
“How do you feel?” Sovals asked.
“The same,” Kirk said rubbing the back of his head, “I can see normal now though, the jungle is gone.”

Luke was a little surprised, but also relieved in a way. He had not been suggesting Kirk to first proceed, he himself would have been quite happy to take the first step however Luke found himself honoured to be in the presence of such dedicated officers.
Once the meld was over Luke and Max returned to the two others, Luke eyed Kirk sceptically.
"How do you feel?" Sovals asked.
"The same." Kirk said rubbing the back of his head, "I can see normal now though, the jungle is gone."
Luke felt his shoulders relax in relief. Kirk had said that it was fine and Luke trusted his strength of mind. He supposed he felt that way because he knew of the Lieutenant's Borg past, he found it likely that Kirk would still be haunted by 'whispers' from the collective and how hard it must be to deal with them. Luke had never come into contact with the Collective, and hoped to never. They were one foe that seemed to come back three times as strong everytime Starfleet hit them.
"May I suggest that I implement the meld on you two as well." Sovals said.
Luke nodded and stepped forward, however he was stopped by Max.
"No Commander, I will go next... Just in case." He said.
"But I thought you said..." Luke started.
Max shot Luke a glance that clearly said: Don't start.
"Very well Commander, go ahead." Luke said stiffly. He found himself becoming more and more relaxed on duty with the senior officers. He would have to try harder to act like the FO of the Tiger Shark and not just a friend.
Shortly after the meld with Max Sovals approached Luke. "I must rest for a while Commander." He paused and took a deep breath. "It was difficult to get far enough inside Commander Bower."
Luke nodded. "I can understand that." He replied. "Take all the time you need. Myself, Kirk and Bower will be working on our next move."
Sovals retreated to a small clearing in the jungle. In fact it was a corner of the room but of course Luke could not see that.
"Lieutenant Kirk, Commander Bower." He called to the two officers. "We need to decided where to go from here. We attempted to gain access to the Bridge and that failed, however we must complete this task. I fear for Rye and the children. These 'aliens' have proven themselves a formidable foe and I do not want to cross them. Suggestions?"

OCC: This side of the mission has stalled and now that I'm back from LOA I plan on changing that. I'm also changing some things that the rings do, so that it fits into the story. I hope that its okay to move the people on Illian's ship back to the TS because here were are limited. On: As T'Brel put on the ring he felt something going through his body. The room filled with invisible power that made the lights on the powerful ship flicker. "They still hold power," KezTrek said as her hair lifted off her body. "That means the Ring is still....," Illian said. "No there is something different," T'Brel said," evil is not calling me." "That means that the Ring is gone, that it was destroyed as it was said in Tolkien book," J'leera said. "So my people are doing this for no reason," Illian said as he realized that what he had ordered was barbaric. T'Brel and KezTrek quickly realized this and just looked at the leader of this ship. He didn't seem so powerful anymore or as arrogant. The door opened up to show three armed guards aiming at the group. "How dare you come in here and raise your weapons at me," Illian said. "You have betrayed us sir," the guard said," we have received orders from the High Council to retrieve the rings of power." When the guard said that the four of them backed up a bit, they new that this was the only chance to get off the ship. "Thirteen can you activate your Borg personal shield," Keztrek asked. "Yes I can," Thirteen responded. "Can you activate your site to site transporter?" T'Brel asked. "Yes but only for me," Thirteen said. T'Brel then thought of their rings, they still had immense power, and hopefully Thirteen could use that power to teleport everyone off this ship. ~Admiral we should use the rings~ T'Brel said. ~How?~ "Like this," T'Brel said as he walked towards Thirteen and activated the power in the ring. J'leera and Keztrek followed suit and soon the room was engulfed in light and they were transported off the ship. They immediately reappeared on the Tiger Shark. "Why aren't we on the bridge?" KezTrek asked. "There was too much shielding on the bridge, my transporter could not pass through it," Thirteen explained," the closest I could get was Deck 2." "Okay, well we need to find the rest of the senior staff and take back the bridge," KezTrek said. "How did you en....?" a alien guard asked as he broke the threshold of the corridor. He was quickly struck down by phaser fire coming from Admiral KezTrek's phaser. It seemed that she had already empitied the weapons locker near them. "Arm yourselves," Keztrek said as the rest of the guards realized what was going on. "Mister Peers get to a comm system and tell Commander Dowding that we are back on the ship." "Yes ma'am," T'Brel said as he dodged weapon's fire and headed towards the closest comm system. "Keep firing," Keztrek said as a system exploded near her. Luckily for her she was far enough so that it didn't affect her. The explosion also gave Thirteen the perfect opportunity to take the a guard out. T'Brel reached the comm system rather quickly, but he didn't have the time to looke for Commander Dowding, so instead he gave a ship wide announcement. =^=Crew of Tiger Shark, the away team has come returned and we are engaging the enemy=^= =^=This Admiral KezTrek senior staff create attack teams and engage the enemy=^= "Admiral Illian's ship is powering up weapons," T'Brel reported as he took the time to check out the ships sensors. "Can you get helm control from here?" KezTrek said. "No ma'am, but I can from engineering," T'Brel said realizing that the bridge must be heavily guarded. "Okay that's where we're headed," KezTrek ordered as she fired onto the alien guard coming her way. <Tag everyone> Off: Okay once again I did this because I don't want to be the only person posting on the other side of the ship. Also I think its time to stop emphasizing the LOTR in this mission, but I think we should keep the rings . Also if anyone has a problem with this please tell me and I will try to accommodate everyone.

OOC:
Well done Mr. Peers for taken some initiative, however, the Bridge was overtaken by the aliens themselves who were the ones enforcing the illusions upon the away team. Four officers transporting over would not be able to stop them. Perhaps you could edit your post?
Much obliged,

“Suggestions?" Dowding asked.
“Well,” Kirk started, “We entered this room with a solid purpose, try and restore power to the rest of the ship and that’s what I think we should do. After that we mount an attack on the bridge.”
Just as Kirk finished his sentence a ship wide communication came through
=^=Crew of Tiger Shark, the away team has come returned and we are engaging the enemy=^=
=^=This Admiral KezTrek senior staff create attack teams and engage the enemy=^=
Kirk looked at Commander Dowding then to Max, all three men looked to be shocked the new developments. Dowding and Max began to make for the doors while Kirk started in at the nearest computer console. Reaching down to began to work on the station Kirk froze in fear, every time he tried to touch the console his hands seemed to vanish into thin air.
“What the devil?” Kirk said confused.
“What’s wrong?” Dowding asked.
“My hands, I cannot seem to touch these consoles.” Kirk said confused.
Dowding looked back into the jungle spotting the Vulcan who was wearing a devilish smile on his face. Just behind him Max was starting to look pale as Commander Dowding aimed his compression rifle in the direction of the now villainous Vulcan.
“Stop, you do not know what your doing!” Max said hysterically as he turned Dowding around by his shoulder and punched him in the face forcing Dowding to drop his weapon.
“Commander!” Kirk yelled as he watched more of his body disappear in front of his own eyes.

Luke collapsed to the floor under the impact of Max's fist. He clutched his face and rolled over, ready to spring up again, but before he could even attempt to get to his feet Max raised his foot and pressed it down hard against Luke's chest. He heard a cracking sound and he suddenly found himself gasping for breath.
"Commander!" Luke heard Kirk yell.
He rolled over, his vision spinning. He glanced up from the floor and saw Kirk staring down at his body, looking quite plainly worried and nearly histerical although he had little time to act on what he saw as he felt another crushing kick, this time to his leg.
"Max!" Luke managed to moan.
Suddenly the lights flickered and went out and the room was thrown into darkness. Luke took this time to crawl away from where Max last was and soon came to a wall where he propped himself up against. He slowly regualted his breathing and tried to focuse past the pain he felt on his jaw and his chest.
"Commander Dowding." Luke heard someone say. He ignored it, waiting. Not wanting to give his position away.
"Commander Dowding, It's Kirk, where abouts are you?"
Luke shifted on the floor. It didn't sound like Kirk... "Security Code Lieutenant." Was his response.
<TAG Kirk>
Luke rose to his feet and slowly made his way over to where the voice had come from.
"Good to... well... see you Lieutenant." Luke said. "What was happening to you back there?"
<TAG Kirk>
"Sovals must have planted something in your unconscious, like he did to Max. Speaking of whom... where is he?" Luke asked.
<TAG Kirk>
"I don't think he's in this room anymore. We need to move out and help the away teams, are you fit to move?"
<TAG Kirk>
"Just a few cuts and bruises Lieutenant, I'm fine. This may well be our only oppurtunity to take back the ship."
<TAG Kirk>
"Agreed, lets proceed in leap-frog fashion, I will proceed first. Cover, rotation pattern." Luke paused. "If we encounter any of the aliens... shoot to stun only."
<TAG Kirk>
"Let's hope there are lights elsewhere on the ship." Luke said dryly. "Move out."
The two officers exited the room and followed the emergency lighting panels on the side of the walls.
"What do you think knocked out the lights?" Kirk asked, as Luke moved forward.
"I'm not sure, it may well be the aliens or the away team... who knows." Luke replied as Kirk proceeded ahead of him, Luke covering his back.
They continued this way for three decks until they arrived at Deck 2. The lights were still down and Luke was beginning to get suspicous, they had yet to encounter any of the aliens.
A phaser shot blasted past Luke's head who promptly swore. "DOWN!" He yelled to Kirk. The two officers dropped to the floor and readied their weapons.
"Commander?" Luke heard someone say.
"Admiral?" Luke replied, recognising his CO's voice.
Luke and Kirk stood to their feet shakily and squinted in the dark. He could make out four shapes, the members of the away team.
"How did you...?" Luke started.
"Not now Commander." KezTrek interupted. "We have to make our way to Engineering. We have neutralised the aliens on this deck, no casualties as yet. The alien vessel has charged its weapons but have yet to indicate any other sign they want to fight, however we must take back Command of the Tiger Shark."
Luke nodded, although KezTrek could of course not see this. Realising this he gave a verbal confirmation and then stopped. "I do not recommend using the turbolifts Admiral." He said. "We experienced some difficulties earlier." He could feel Kirk shift uncomfortably beneath him.
"Very well." KezTrek replied. "Then we will have to use the jefferies tubes and the access shafts. You can fill me in on what has been happening over here on the way down."
Luke responded and then turned to the senior staff, none of whom he could see. KezTrek stood next to him.
"We will proceed with caution." She said. "Shoot to stun only. We will have no deaths today. We will split ourselves into two teams, one headed by myself and the other by Commander Dowding. If something happens, report to your team leader. Laika, and Kirk youre with Commander Dowding, Thirteen and Peers youre with me."
"Remember, we are still a part of these 'tasks' the aliens have set us." Luke added. "We must not do anything to harm the children or Commander Fitzpatrick. Our aims will be to rescue them and regain control of the ship. Understood?"
There were a few murmered responses which KezTrek finished off with. "Lets get going."
The senior officers set off and were about to access the nearest turbolift shaft when a bright light encased the Deck. The officers covered their eyes and opened them as soon as the light had receeded.
"What the..." Peers started.
"RA KezTrek!" Luke yelled, realising his CO was missing. "KezTrek!"
"That light must have been a transporter." J'Leera said.
Luke swore. "We must continue with the mission at hand."

"We will proceed with caution." She said. "Shoot to stun only. We will have no deaths today. We will split ourselves into two teams, one headed by myself and the other by Commander Dowding. If something happens, report to your team leader. Laika, and Kirk you’re with Commander Dowding, Thirteen and Peers you’re with me."
"Remember, we are still a part of these 'tasks' the aliens have set us." Luke added. "We must not do anything to harm the children or Commander Fitzpatrick. Our aims will be to rescue them and regain control of the ship. Understood?"
"Aye, ma'am," was the response from all the officers. T'Brel was not sure about the order to stun only, but he complied with the order and set the phaser to the highest stun setting. There were a few murmurs between the officer's but that soon stopped as they headed towards the two closest turbolifts.
All of a sudden the lights on the deck went out, which seemed to heighten everyone’s senses. When the lights came back T'Brel quickly discovered that Admiral KezTrek was no longer with them.
"What the..." Peers started.
"RA KezTrek!" Luke yelled, realizing his CO was missing. "KezTrek!"
"That light must have been a transporter." J'Leera said.
Luke swore. "We must continue with the mission at hand." T’brel couldn’t believe what Commander Dowding was saying, but he quickly realized that they did have to continue with the mission at hand.
“Commander Laika you will now take command of the Admiral’s team and are to head towards engineering,” Luke said as he opened the jefferies tube to let them enter.
“Yes, sir,” J’Leera said as she entered the jefferies tube with phaser in hand. Commander Thirteen quickly followed and T’Brel was bringing up the rear. Jefferies tubes always seemed small to T’Brel, but this time they seemed miniscule.
“Have you noticed that the jefferies tubes seem to be getting smaller and smaller as we go along?” T’Brel asked of the two officers ahead of him.
“Affirmative, the jefferies tube seems to be shrinking by two inches every meter we go,” Thirteen said. T’Brel was about to say how did he know that, but all he had to do was look at the Borg technology on him to realize that he was correct.
“How is this possible?” J’Leera asked.
“It’s not,” T’Brel said,” these must be the hallucinations that Commander Dowding was talking about.”
“Well then how do we stop them?” J’Leera asked visibly annoyed at the fact that in a couple of meters none of them could continue on there plan.
“These are just hallucinations, so we know that they are not real,” T’Brel said,” the mind is a powerful thing, but it can easily be fooled. We know that this is not real so just act as such.” Commander Laika seemed to take this into accounted and stopped moving for a bit and just started thinking. Sure enough the jefferies tube returned to average size.
“Good thinking, Lt.,” J’Leera said as she continued forward. The rest of the trip to Deck 4 was uneventful, but long. They were in Access Point 3 and they knew that main engineering was right outside the door. The biggest problem was the fact they didn’t know if there was anyone right outside the door. If there was they would be captured and they would of failed, if not they could have the chance of retaking engineering.
“Commander Laika, what are your orders?” T’Brel asked.

Luke watched as J'Leera and her team left the group and headed into the hatch. His mind was buzzing with the events of the past hour, Max half-crazed and on the run, Rye still missing, the aliens still loose on the ship and to top it off KezTrek now appeared to have been abducted.
"What do you want us to do Sir?" Kirk asked from behind him. Luke jumped slightly, he had forgotten that he was not alone.
Luke opened his mouth as if to speak and then closed it again. He did this several times, each time about to say something different. He finally managed to say what he felt sounded right.
"We're going to take back the Tiger Shark." Luke said quietly.
"I'm sorry Sir?" Kirk replied. Luke didn't know whether Kirk hadn't heard or was just confused, it didn't matter either way, a plan was beginning to formulate in Luke's mind.
"What is the one thing we have learnt about these aliens so far Lieutenant?" Luke asked Kirk.
"That they are willing to do anything to test us." Kirk said, after a while of thinking.
Luke nodded. "Indeed, anything except risk themselves. Every instance we have encountered the aliens has been through some sort of rouse or challenge. They have never directly made contact with us and we have been forbidden on every occassion to attack them."
<TAG Kirk>
"I'm saying, these aliens will not allow themselves to be injured or worse for this cause. They want to get their goal, whatever that may be, as quickly as possible." Luke paused and scratched his head. "If we give them something that will draw their attention, something that will scare them enough to refocuse their attention to it... then we may be able to gain access to the ship again."
"What are you thinking of Commander?" Kirk asked.
Luke smiled and then flinched, his jaw was still incredibly painful and slightly swollen. "The auto-destruct." Luke said.
Kirk looked at Luke and through the flashing of the emergency lights he could see the look of concern pasted across his face. Luke read into this look and patted Kirk reassuringly on the shoulder.
"We won't actually blow up the ship Lieutenant. We just need to make them think we will."
"What if they're reading our thoughts now?" Kirk asked.
"Then we have failed but I can't feel them, can you?"
Kirk shook his head.
"Then lets get going before the decide to poke around in our heads again." Luke said. "We need to access any console. It doesn't matter for what system it is used for, we can access the self-destruct from anywhere providing we have the right codes."
"Can't we just instruct the computer?" Kirk asked.
Luke shook his head but didn't think Kirk had seen that. "If the emergency lights are on then it is likely that main power is offline. The computer is probably running on basic levels only. It is unlikely that the computer will respond to verbal commands."
Luke walked along the corridor for a bit before coming to an alcove that contained a console, usually used for security teams across the ship. "Perfect." He said, tapping the lightless console.
"Commander, that console is not functioning." Kirk said.
"It is Lieutenant. Someone's home but the lights aren't on." Luke replied, chuckling at his lame joke.
ENTER COMMANDING/EXECUTIVE OFFICER CLEARANCE
"How did you?..." Kirk asked peering over Luke's shoulder.
"When you've spent as long as I have on this ship, you won't need lights to see where you're tapping." Luke replied. He punched in his code and then turned to Kirk.
Kirk, who could use his optical implant, successfully managed to enter his code as well. Within seconds of the last digit being inputted the alarm sounded throughout the ship.
Luke covered his ears and muttered angrily to himself. "Oh yeah sure, you haven't got enough power for lights but you can blare that noise out..."
He turned to Kirk. "Let's see if we can gain access to the Bridge now." He said.

"Security Code Lieutenant."
Kirk shook his head then opened his eyes noticing everything was back to normal, or as normal as it could be. The jungle scene that surrounded him earlier was back, whatever Sovals had done to him much have been countered by a number of Borg implants still active in Kirk’s head.
“Kirk, Alpha, 3-1-6.”
"Good to... well... see you Lieutenant." Luke said. "What was happening to you back there?"
“I cannot explain it sir, but I have a feeling Sovals is not who he says he is.” Kirk said looking around the room.
"Sovals must have planted something in your unconscious, like he did to Max. Speaking of whom... where is he?" Luke asked
“I do not know sir.”
"I don't think he's in this room anymore. We need to move out and help the away teams, are you fit to move?"
“Yes sir I am, what about you?”
"Just a few cuts and bruises Lieutenant, I'm fine. This may well be our only opportunity to take back the ship."
“I agree. I think we should try and make our way to the bridge again.” Kirk said.
"Agreed, lets proceed in leap-frog fashion, I will proceed first. Cover, rotation pattern." Luke paused. "If we encounter any of the aliens... shoot to stun only." "Let's hope there are lights elsewhere on the ship." Luke said dryly. "Move out."
Kirk led the way stopping with his back to the door as he held up his compression rifle. Peering around the corner Kirk noticed the two unconscious female officers Dowding and himself were forced to shoot earlier, beyond the small emergency light above the two officers the entire deck was pitch black.
“Clear?” Dowding said behind Kirk.
Kirk paused looking down the hallway; even using a night vision in this dim light would produce nothing, “Unknown sir.”
Kirk could hear Dowding’s footsteps as he walked past him taking a position on the other side of the corridor. Once the footsteps stopped Kirk began to make his way down the hallway following the curvature of the wall until a single phaser shot past the two men causing them to fall to the ground for cover.
There was a brief relief when the two men found out it was only Admiral KezTrek and the away team, they had somehow managed to get off the alien ship. The two teams split up as commanded by Admiral KezTrek before her sudden disappearance by a blinding white light that seemed to emanate from nowhere.
Kirk watched as Dowding quickly imputed his command code into the blacked out console to initiate the auto destruct sequence.
Dowding turned to Kirk. "Let's see if we can gain access to the Bridge now."
“Sounds good to me,” Kirk said checking the power settings on his rifle, “I will lead the way.”

They have activated the self-destruct!
How is that possible?! The Main Comnputer is down!
Contact Orlinis, I will not die because of this mission.
We must proceed as planned! Earth will be ours again, these humans have no right to be there!
If we die then no one will ever hear of us again, our race will be trapped in that cursed dimension for ever, the explosion of the Tiger Shark would be fatal to our mission and I am not willing to die!
We remain onboard until Orlinis orders otherwise. We must now work on a way to deactivate the self-destruct. I imagine that we only have approximately five of their human minutes.
Luke nodded as Kirk said that he would lead the way. There was no point arguing, the lower ranking officer led the way into hostile situations. And besides Luke's vision was beginning to go a little blurry after his fight with Max... who was still no where to be found.
Kirk climbed into the Turbolift shaft and Luke quickly followed. It was by no means a long journey from Deck 2 to Deck 1 and soon Kirk and Luke were waiting outside the Turbolift doors that would lead onto the Bridge.
"Do we blast our way through?" Kirk asked, whispering.
Luke shook his head."Release the manual overide on the side of the door." Luke said pointing to what he was talking about. "Hopefully they'll all be focussing away from the entrance. I haven't felt their presence yet. Have you?" He asked.
<TAG Kirk>
"Very good." Luke paused and then nodded, signalling to Kirk to release the manual overide. The doors hissed open and Kirk dissapeared from sight. Luke smoothly followed and was relieved to see that the aliens had not noticed. They were worried.
Kirk fell into position by the centre chair and Luke made his way down to Helm on all fours. He reached there and clicked his phaser onto the maximum stun setting. He signed for Kirk to do the same with his rifle.
Luke then raised up his hand and showed Kirk 5 digits. He lowered one, and then another, and then another, and with the last one he clenched his fist and pulled it down towards him. The two officers leaped up and took out the aliens in very little time. Each fell like a leaf from a tree with just one shot.
Luke approached a console and attempted to deactivate the self-destruct.
Unable To Comply
Flashed across the screen.
"We have a problem Lieutenant!" Luke called over to Kirk. "The aliens appeared to have locked out the self-destuct while attempting to disable it." He said, with a slight twinge of panic in his voice.
<TAG Kirk>
"There are only a few manual shutdowns of the self-destruct on the ship."
"Isn't one in Engineering?" Kirk asked.
"Good thinking Lieutenant." Luke said going over to the comms console. "This is Commander Dowding to Laika's team, get to Engineering immediately. We have gained control of the Bridge however the self-destruct will not deactivate. You need to do it manually. Dowding out."
Luke sighed and slowly realised that he wouldn't get a response from J'Leera, Peers or Thirteen until they reached Engineering as they didn't have their comm badges.
"It's just a waiting game now." Luke said.
"Indeed, shall we attempt to restore Main power?" Kirk asked.
Luke shrugged his shoulders. "May as well give it a shot."
Just as Luke was tapping in his Command codes, the Tactical console flashed. "We're receiving a hail, Sir. It's from the alien vessel."
"On screen." Luke said, a mixture of worry and interest fluttering around his mind.
=^= Well played Commander, although you appeared to have put yourself in check =^=
"Orlinis..." Luke muttered. "As we speak my teams are on their way to Engineering. We've won this Orlinis."
=^= Myself and my crew may no longer be on your ship but you have yet to win. I have always wanted to see a Starship explode. Maybe I will just wait around to watch =^=
The screen flickered and went dark again.
"Why doesn't he just fire upon us?!" Kirk exclaimed.
"Because he has been ordered not to." Luke said, pausing. "By allowing us to blow ourselves up he gets to have his fun while not getting into trouble with his superiors himself."
<TAG Kirk>
"Come on Lieutenant. Let's see if we can at least get the lights on for J'Leera and her team."
"While we are doing that, should we not also attempt to locate the children, Commander Fitzpatrick and Max?" Kirk asked.
Luke nodded. "Let's get to it then."

“Commander Laika, what are your orders?” T’Brel asked.
She cautiously approached the door to Engineering and pressed her ear against it. When she did not hear anything, she gripped the Elvish ring with her other hand and paused for a moment.
"What are you doing?" T'Brel asked.
She didn't answer, but instead stayed focused on the ring. Finally she looked up. "I figured out a way to use the ring like a tricorder. I had to know if anyone was in Engineering first."
T'Brel nodded and tried his ring. He got the same results.
"Is there any?" Thirteen asked.
"There are two guards in there. I believe that we can take them out, but it's going to have to be quick," she said. "We have our phasers and the doors are not locked from what I can tell, so it shouldn't be difficult."
Thirteen and T'Brel both nodded, so she continued. "From what I can tell, they're standing near the warp core so we're going to have to make sure our shots are dead accurate. We can risk any shots hitting the core. Do you think you can handle that? Okay, let's do it."
"So we're going to rush them?" T'Brel asked.
"Basically," she nodded. "They don't know we're here yet, so we can take them by surprise. Okay, as soon as I give the signal, I'm going to open the door and we go in. Ready? Go!"
She rushed forward and activated the doors. Inside the guards looked up completely taken by surprise and reached for their weapons, but they were quickly met by Thirteen and T'Brel's rapid shots. They fell over unconscious and J'Leera went over the console and informed Luke.
"Laika to Dowding...the target is secure."

=^= Laika to Dowding... The target is secure =^= Luke looked up from his console when he heard J'Leera's voice. He tapped the commlink button and replied. "Good job Commander, now get the self-destruct deacitvated! We have approximately two minutes. Dowding out." Luke had found himself to be sweating more, it wasn't the environmental controls going wrong it was the fact that the Tiger Shark and her crew may all well be gone in three minutes because of him... He had gambled all their lives. Would KezTrek of done the same? He opened the commlink again to J'Leera. "Commander, what is your status?" He asked, not trying to keep the concern from his voice. =^= We have managed to deactivate the timer... but not the self-destruct. It has a back-up system which initiates when the timer is stopped manually. The destruct will still go off within five minutes =^= Came J'Leera's reply. Luke swallowed nervously. "Keep this channel open J'Leera." Luke ordered. =^= Aye Sir =^= "Sir!" Kirk called from Tactical. Luke ran over to the Station. "What is it Lieutenant?" Luke said, concerned by the call of his COO. "Illian's ship is powering their Forward Weapon systems!" "When can we get Main Power?" Luke asked, trying to keep calm. "Within the hour..." Kirk replied. He paced the Bridge nervously. "Open a channel to Illian's vessel." Kirk nodded and seconds later Illian and Orlinis appeared on the screen. =^= What can we do for you Commander? =^= Orlinis asked. "If you begin to attack the Tiger Shark I will be forced to use extreme measures to make sure you do not survive the battle." Luke replied simply. =^= HA! What can you do?! Your ship is defenceless and is about to explode into a million tiny pieces. You can do nothing Commander, you are weak, we are strong, Earth will be ours! =^= Luke grimaced at the tone of Orlinis. He would have to do it. "Orlinis, if you and your ship do not stand down, I will set a collision course for you ship and we have yet to deactivate the self-destruct. We will not be the only ones in a million tiny pieces." Orlinis looked shocked but then regained his composure. =^= You wouldn't, you wouldn't risk your whole crew to stop us =^= "Try me." Luke replied. The worrying thing was, he really would. =^= Orlinis, I am still CO of this operation. We cannot win this. The humans will defend their planet to the end. We cannot risk war =^= "Listen to Illian, Orlinis." Luke said casually, taking a seat at the Helm. "Hello old girl." He whispered while pressing a few commands. The manual control stick rose from the console and Luke immediately had flight control at his fingertips. =^= They have set a course for our co-ordinates! =^= Came a voice from Illian's ship. Luke raised an eyebrow. "What will it be?" Orlinis stared Luke directly in the eyes. =^= Stand down! =^= He ordered. Luke rose to his feet and signalled for Kirk to cut the transmission. The screen flickered off, and was replaced by the imposing image of Illian's ship. "Well bluffed Sir." Kirk said. Luke smiled. "Indeed." He simply replied. "Except it wasn't a bluff...." He added under his breath. =^= Laika to the Bridge =^= "Go ahead Commander." Luke replied. =^= We have disabled the self-destruct =^= She said, a triumphant tone to her voice. "Good job Commander. Yourself, Peers and Thirteen are to begin releasing the crew from the Cargo Bays, also keep an eye out for Fitzpatrick and Bower. The children have been isolated in Torpedo Bay 2, make sure a team is sent there immediately and check them into Sickbay. The EMH should be online." J'Leera gave her response and the comm closed. Luke barely paid attention to Kirk when he informed the exhausted FO that power was back online. Luke slumped into the centre chair and frowned. "KezTrek..." He muttered. "Sir, Illian is hailing." Kirk said from Tactical. Luke rose to his feet and walked slowly closer to the viewscreen. "On screen." He ordered. =^= Commander Dowding =^= Illian said, this time Orlinis was nowhere to be seen. Luke frowned. "What do you want Illian." =^= You and your crew have successfully completed the tasks. We will return to our space now =^= "JUST LIKE THAT?!" Luke exclaimed. "PEOPLE HAVE DIED OVER HERE, CREW THAT HAVE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS. AND NOW YOU'RE DONE WITH YOUR GAMES THAT'S OK?" =^= I understand your anger Commander, but be thankful that we will not be persuing Earth. If Orlinis had his way, you would all be dead by now =^= "Oh well, then I suppose I should be thanking you then?!" Luke said, disgust obvious in his voice. =^= It was an interesting experience meeting you Commander. I hope I will have the pleasure again =^= The screen flickered off and a white light filled the Bridge. "Does someone mind telling me what the hell is going on?!" Came a voice from behind Luke. He spun round and was relieved to see KezTrek standing there, looking more than a little ruffled and disgruntled. "They're gone Admiral. We passed." Luke could feel his vision going, he could see the Bridge spinning beneath him, soon the floor was a lot closer than it should be, and then darkness... ***** "Foolish officers, thinking they're invicible. Should've come straight to me, now look at him." Luke opened his eyes and was immediately confused as to where he was. He tried to sit up but was immediately pushed down by a cold hand. "Oh no!" Said the voice to whom the hand belonged to." Luke rolled over and saw the stern looking face of the EMH staring at him. "You need rest, and lots of it." "I really think I should be on the Bridge with Admiral KezTrek." Luke said with a very croaky voice. "Nonsense, you have had three broken ribs, a cracked jaw and severe brusing to your lower back, and besides Admiral KezTrek is not on the Bridge. She is currently in conference with Admiral Kirn to debrief Command of what's been going on here." "But..." Luke started. The EMH glared. "I will call Security." He said threateningly. Luke sighed. "I miss Buster..." He said.

When Commander Laika said that her ring could sense that there were only a few guards in the next room, T'Brel was surprised. He quickly looked at his ring and then at the Commander. She seemed to not be surprised that the rings had this type of power. T'Brel didn't know why it had surprised him either.
So Commander Thirteen and T'Brel did what they were ordered to do and attacked as soon as the door was open. They were completely taken by surprise. The rapid fire illuminated the room and lit up the face of the aliens. For the first time T'Brel saw fear and weakness in those aliens.
=^= Laika to Dowding... The target is secure =^=
"Good job Commander, now get the self-destruct deacitvated! We have approximately two minutes. Dowding out." The three of them quickly made there way towards the self-destruct controls and tried to shut it down. It seemed to not be working, the only thing that they could do was stop the timer.
"Keep this channel open J'Leera." Luke ordered.
=^= Aye Sir =^=
"We need to deactivate this thing right away," J'Leera said as she took out the covering taking out the console. T'Brel quickly started to sweat, he didn't want to die hear.
"Commander Thirteen can you deactivate the self-destruct?" T'Brel asked of the former borg drone.
"I think so," Thirteen said as he crouched downto expect the console. For the first time ever T'Brel saw borg technology at work. It amazed T'Brel what he was seeing, two tenicals came from the Commander's hands and interacted with the ship. It took a couple of seconds, but T'Brel knew that the Commander's efforts where not in vain.
"It is done," Thirteen said as stood up again.
The EMH should be online."
"Aye sir," the all said in unison.
"Mr. Peers you will go and find the children in Torpedo Bay 2, myself and Commander Thirteen will go and rescue the rest of the crew," J'Leera said as she was half way out of the door. T'Brel quickly made his way towards the cargo bay, he usually wouldn't be running, but the fact that they were young children made the situation more important.
When he reached the Torpedo Bay he could easily hear the children softly talking to each other. When he entered the torpedo bay everything went quiet instantly.
"Well aren't you liitle ones coming with me," T'Brel said offering a the smallest children his hands. At once all of the children scurried towards T'Brel and made sure that he was real.
"Okay come guys lets go, we got to go see the doctor," T'Brel said as he picked up the littlest of the children. Instead of taking a few minutes to reach sickbay, it took the group twenty minutes to reach their destination.
"Doctor please help me," T'Brel said as he entered sickbay. The children quickly scattered inside sickbay which the EMH didn't like.
=^=Commander the children are in sickbay=^=
=^=Mr. Peers Commander Dowding is in sickbay, where I think you are, but for now I need you on the bridge.=^=
=^=Aye sir=^=

Rye sat in the corner of a room. Shivering and whimpering, he sat in the dark, going over his actions. After an hour or so of lying conscious on the floor, a familiar sound was heard, and a bright light flooded the room "Well, Mr. Fitzpatrick, are you enjoying yourself? I'm sure that you are. Thinking about your love life, and family. Your thoughts are very interesting, I have enjoyed probing your mind. "W-Who are you? Why are you reading through my mind?" "All in good time, Commander Fitzpatrick, but first, I'd like another session of thoughts. You don't mind, do you." Without leaving a chance to reply, the figure left the room, leaving the engineer frightened in the corner.

Kirk whipped the sweat from his brow as the aliens stood down; the thought of going to battle with these aliens was something Kirk was not looking forward too. A flash of light lit up the room leaving Admiral Keztrek instantly standing on the bridge of the Tiger Shark looking around seemingly lost for a second.
"Does someone mind telling me what the hell is going on?!"
"They're gone Admiral. We passed." Kirk watched Luke spin around and inform the Admiral of the current situation. With in seconds he lost his balanced and collapsed onto the ground unconscious.
“Get him to sickbay.” Keztrek ordered.
Kirk rushed from his station to assist Commander Dowding off the ground. Main power was still offline so Kirk knew he was in for a long haul as he pulled Dowding into the turbo lift.
“Time to start working out again,” Kirk said as the turbo lift doors closed, “sickbay.” Kirk ordered.
The turbo lift ride took only a few precious moments to arrive on the deck containing sickbay, from the turbo lift it was a short walk to the main entrance. Using the last of his strength Kirk pulled Dowding through the doors falling down onto the ground just inside sickbay.
“Computer, activate EMH.”
“Please state the nature of the medical emergency.” The doctor coldly stated before he assessed the situation on his own.
The doctor quickly plucked Commander Dowding off the ground placing him on a near by bio bed ignoring Kirk completely. Watching the doctor work Kirk remembered the two female crewmembers Dowding and Kirk had to shoot earlier. Pulling himself off the floor Kirk walked out of sickbay to make his way back to the stunned crewmates. Rounding the corner Kirk spotted the two female crewmembers still lying on the floor unconscious.
Kirk could tell that main power was slowly coming back online as the light levels on the ship continued to go back to normal. Picking up the nearest crewmate Kirk cradled the stunned woman and walking her into sickbay placing her on a empty bio bed. Looking across the room Kirk spotted the doctor still working with Commander Dowding. Leaving with a slight smirk Kirk headed out to recover the other crewmember.
Bending down to pick her up the attractive blonde began to come back around, her eyes fluttered and she moaned as if she was in pain. Kirk picked her up the same as the last officer holding her body close to his to keep balance.
“Where am I?” She asked with her cheek pressed up against Kirk’s chest.
“On your way to sickbay.” Kirk replied.
The conversation was brief as the officer slipped back into unconsciousness. Kirk placed the young woman down on a bio bed and froze for a second keeping his gaze on the female officer. He softly brushed the hair out of her face and marveled at how much she looked just like his younger sister.
Just as Kirk began to walk away a soft voice called to him, he turned around to face the officer he had just placed on the bio bed. She smiled at him and said only, “Thank you,” before closing her eyes once again.
Kirk felt a great deal of tension and stress free itself from his shoulders with those words. Knowing he had more work to do Kirk headed back to the bridge.

"And where do you think you're going?"
Luke stopped mid-stride and slowly turned round, there was the EMH, glaring at him.
"I was thinking I may return to duty." Luke replied. "Seeing as I feel a whole let better."
"Fine!" The Hologram exclaimed, obviously finally exhausted with the ongoing battle with the determined FO. "Do you want you want! It's not as if I know what I'm talking about or anything! I haven't been programmed..."
Luke slipt out of Sickbay leaving the ranting EMH alone. He straightened his uniform jacket and then tapped his comm badge.
"Dowding to Rear Admiral KezTrek."
=^= I thought the EMH may have gagged you by now Commander =^= Came the repsonse of his CO.
Luke smiled. "Not yet Admiral, I managed to make my escape. I am on my way to the Bridge now."
=^= Stop by my Ready Room Commander, Laika has the Bridge for now, we have a lot to talk about =^=
"Understood Admiral." Luke finished, tapping his comm badge to close the channel.
He made his way to the Turbolift, wondering what KezTrek had to say. He knew they would need a debriefing session but surely KezTrek would want the entire senior staff there.
His thoughts carried him to the Bridge, where he nodded at the crew before pressing the chime to enter KezTrek's Ready Room. The doors hissed open and Luke saw his CO looking rather flustered, drinking deeply from a mug of coffee.
"Take a seat Commander." She said, motioning to the chair opposite her desk. Luke sat down and waited for KezTrek to speak, seeing as he had no idea what she was going to discuss.
"As you are aware Commander, the recent incidents are like no other encountered by a Starship. It appears that we have encountered a species that may well have a better claim to Earth than we do."
Luke nodded silently. He had read up on J'Leera's report whilst in Sickbay, it was extremely surprising.
"Starfleet Command, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to keep this quiet. The Romulan Senate, what's left of it, will be informed on the bare minimum information seeing as this occurred near their space, but Starfleet does not want the truth of this to come out."
Luke opened his mouth to reply but KezTrek interupted him.
"I know, I find it just as ridiculous as you, the Romulans will not buy into the theory that Command gives them and things that are wanted to be kept secret rarely are..."
"I agree Admiral, I assume we will be forwarding a formal complaint against this action?" Luke asked.
"We have been silenced on the matter Commander. After our debriefing with the senior staff we will all be forced to put our names to a disclaimer. Starfleet is serious that this is not to get out, at least not until we are sure of the facts."
Luke was shocked. Why was Starfleet so concerned? Illian's ship had gone.
"There is no point dwelling on the matter. Command has made their decision and we must of course stick to it." KezTrek paused and stared at Luke, she knew him to well. She knew that Luke was thinking of all the possible ways of finding a loophole in the order. "And we must stick to it Commander." She repeated.
"Understood Admiral." Luke said honestly.
"And now onto more pressing matters." KezTrek said before picking up a padd and taking a sip of her coffee. "This morning, my husband - Daniel, received a communique from the Prima colony on Mars, his mother has been taken extremely ill."
"I am sorry to here that Admiral." Luke said genuinely.
"Thank you Commander. Well as you can imagine Daniel is quite distraught and so is planning to take a Shuttle to Mars as soon as possible. I have requested an Extended Leave of Absence to go with him and it has been granted." KezTrek said.
"Right...." Luke replied, not quite sure what to say.
"This means that you will be Acting CO of the Tiger Shark until I return. A temporary First Officer is being assigned at Bellicose."
Luke nodded. "Understood Admiral."
"Myself and Daniel plan to leave today, this means that I will leave the debriefing and the tender issue of the secrecy act in your hands."
Luke frowned, that would not be a fun debriefing.
"I will inform you when I plan to depart Commander, and that is when I will transfer Command over to you. Dismissed."
Luke nodded and rose to his feet, exiting the Ready Room. J'Leera got up and walked over to Luke, handing him a padd.
"Casualty report." She said. "I have also just heard from Sickbay, Rye has just been admitted, apparantly he is suffering from extreme emotional trauma."
Luke sighed. "Thank you J'Leera." He said, skimming over the padd. He read Max's name close to the top and then a little further down Ikar and Lamos, deceased. He would be writing two of the dreaded letters soon.
"Can you please man science Commander." He said to Laika. "I'll resume Command."
Luke sat down in the centre chair and then tapped his comm badge.
"All senior staff this is Commander Dowding, there will be a Debriefing in two hours on Deck 2." He said simply.

After leaving sickbay Kirk seemed to walk around the Tiger Shark aimlessly, he knew he had things to do on the bridge but he felt drawn to walking the lengths of the corridors. His thoughts remained with the two women he had shot; the two crewmembers that were lost in the turbo lift accident caused by the aliens. Even though he told himself over and over again that it was not his fault he still found ways to bash himself for not thinking of another way to save everybody.
What caused more hurt to Kirk’s psyche was that it was again the Borg part of him that had caused more death, not the human side. He had long cursed the day he was assimilated and longed for nothing more than to just become fully human again.
"All senior staff this is Commander Dowding, there will be a Debriefing in two hours on Deck 2." He said simply.
Kirk had stopped what he was doing to listen to the message from the Commander, before proceeding back to the bridge to take over his station from the junior officer who was now manning it.
“Thanks,” Kirk said as he tapped the man on the shoulder.
The hours seemed to fly by as Kirk continued to run diagnostic scans on the ship looking for any trace of problems left behind from the aliens who had control of the ship.
“Lieutenant, care to join us?” Dowding said getting up from the Command chair.
“Of course sir.” Kirk replied as he followed Commander Dowding into the turbo lift heading to deck two.
Sitting down on Dowding’s right hand side the two men waited for the rest of the crew to join them in the conference room.

Luke sat at the head of the table due to the absence of KezTrek. It felt wierd, this wasn't his place... not yet anyway... Kirk also appeared to be deep in his own thoughts. Luke made a mental note to himself to talk to the Lieutenant after the Briefing.
Eventually the rest of the senior crew filed in and sat at their usual places at the table. Luke frowned at the empty places, of course the FO's seat was empty however Rye's chair was also vacated and with the lack of a regular Marine Officer, Cheif Medic and Counsellor the table seemed rather empty.
"Well, I just want to offer my personal thanks to all of you." Luke started. "This has been tough on all of us, one way or another and I am very proud to sit here amongst such fine Officers." Luke paused again and smiled at the assembled crew. "Now, onto far more depressing and important factors. RA KezTrek has been called away due to personal issues, this means that until she returns from her Extended Leave of Absence, I will be in Command of the Tiger Shark. Apparantly we will be picking up a temporary FO at Bellicose... which should be interesting..." Luke said, leaving no doubt that he would rather have one of the present crew act as his FO. "Now, onto what has happened in the past few days. I am aware you are all probably very tired, and with due cause. I will make sure that we all get some well deserved rest. In regards as to what has been happening recently I need to raise an extremely delicate issue with you." Luke paused and took a deep breath. "Starfleet Command has decided to keep what has happened secret from the general population. They see no need to cause concern within the Federation. This means that we are to sign a disclaimer, securing that we will not under any circumstances disclose what we have learnt over the past few days to anyone. Understood?" Luke asked.
<TAG Senior Staff>
"As to what we collected during the mission." Luke said with stern looks at both J'Leera and T'Brel. "I will leave that to the relevant people's discretion what they do with that said collected material. I am assured though that this meeting goes no further. The rest of the crew will be informed in due time, but as my Senior Staff I need to understand that you have a grasp on how important this is."
<TAG Senior Staff>
Luke smiled at the loyalty of his friends. "Very well, then for now you are dismissed. Return to your posts and prepare for the journey back to Bellicose."
The Officers gradually got up from their seats and headed to the Bridge. Luke sat a while longer, deep in thought. Kirk rose to his feet next to Luke and then he remembered.
"Mr. Kirk, may I have a word please?" Luke asked.
<TAG Kirk>
Luke stood up and walked over to the line of windows, staring out to space. Kirk followed him over.
"I understand the conflict that is happening within you Lieutenant." Luke said, still facing towards the windows. "To lose crew-members is a tough problem to deal with, but one we all must. You cannot blame yourself for what happened, whether you feel it was your fault or not does not matter. You did what you could and that's all that can ever be asked of a Starfleet Officer."
<TAG Kirk>
Luke smiled and then turned to face Kirk, patting him on the shoulder. "I am afraid it is a simple truth, those with pasts with always be haunted by them. However, sometimes the present receives a reward from the past."
"Sir?" Kirk asked confused.
"It is my pleasure to promote you to Lieutenant Commander, Mr. Kirk. You do seem to be getting up that ladder fast don't you?!" Luke said jokingly.
<TAG Kirk>
"Now to your post, Commander." Luke said, emphasing Kirk's new rank.
Luke watched Kirk leave the Briefing room with a new spring to his step. The promotion would not take away the pain, nor should it, but for a while Kirk could be happy with what he achieved. Luke gazed out to the stars for a while longer before heading to the Bridge himself where he sat in the centre chair, Senior crew around him, ready and waiting.
"Mr. Peers." Luke said. "Lay in a course for Bellicose, Warp 6."
"Course set Sir." Came the response from Helm. Luke smiled at the memory of him saying that from that very chair.
"Engage Lieutenant." He ordered.
This is the Official end of the mission Guys and Gals. Well done all, some top quality posts! Feel free to continue to post on this thread for now, until we arrive at Bellicose! Again well done!

It seemed odd to Kirk that in this day in age that the Federation would want to hide something as interesting as the possibility there was life on Earth before man. Kirk understood it was more of a diplomatic ruling than a scientific one; nobody would be able to predict how the Romulans would react to such ground shaking news. Though Kirk did not agree with the idea of keeping this all under wraps he nodded in agreement that he would sign the form to keep quiet about the things he had seen.
Kirk’s mind seemed to drift away from the meeting to the seconds before he was able to transport himself, Dowding and Max off the plummeting turbo lift. He was brought back to the meeting when Commander Dowding excused everybody from the meeting to report back to their stations.
"Mr. Kirk, may I have a word please?" Luke asked.
“Sir?” Kirk replied confused.
"It is my pleasure to promote you to Lieutenant Commander, Mr. Kirk. You do seem to be getting up that ladder fast don't you?!" Luke said jokingly.
A small smile broke across Kirk’s face when the news of the promotion reached his brain; it was a momentary relief from the anguish that had been coursing through his thoughts.
“Thank you sir.” Kirk replied as Dowding placed a single black pip on his collar.
"Now to your post, Commander." Luke said, emphasizing Kirk's new rank.
Kirk walked out of the conference room trying not to let the last days actions affect his performance. It seemed whenever Kirk was getting to a point where he felt safe and happy something had to come along and ruin it, more often than not it was the Borg technology that lived with in his body that caused the problems. For all its benefits, it caused an equal amount of pain, and at that moment Kirk looked up from the floor as he walked and realized that this was the gives and takes of life. You try as hard as you can and in the end life might bring you something that is completely out of your control, leaving you without anything to do but you’re best.
Walking onto the bridge Kirk pushed his deeper thoughts back into the depths of his brain and focused his attention on the duties that lay before him. Moments after Kirk made his way to the bridge Dowding came in close behind. Kirk quickly looked over his console to check the ships various systems.
“Captain, OPS checking in, all systems good.” Kirk reported.
“Good, thank you Commander.” Dowding replied.
"Mr. Peers." Luke said. "Lay in a course for Bellicose, Warp 6."
"Course set Sir." Came the response from Helm. Luke smiled at the memory of him saying that from that very chair.
"Engage Lieutenant." Dowding ordered.
Kirk watched the main view screen as the Tiger Shark pushed itself past the speed of light and on its way home. A weight felt as if it was being lifted from his shoulders as T’Brel reported that the Tiger Shark had left the system, allowing Kirk to relax as he continued to watch the stars past on the man view screen.

=^= Rear Admiral KezTrek's Shuttle has just disembarked^=
"Thank you Bay One, Bridge out." Luke replied.
The viewscreen flickered from moving stars to an image of the Shuttle.
"God speed Admiral." Luke said quietly.
"Commander Laika, you have the Bridge." Luke said, standing up and heading to the Ready Room. Inside he sat down and tapped a few buttons on the console of KezTrek's desk.
A picture of the EMH flickered on the screen.
"Commander Dowding." He said suspiciously. "What can I do for you?"
Luke smiled. "Nothing about me." He replied. "How is Commander Fitzpatrick?"
"He is recovering well, I imagine that he will be fully recovered by the time the Tiger Shark has gone through systems check at Bellicose."
"Thank you." Luke said. "I will make a point to pop down at some point."
Luke was about to cut the comm but before he could the EMH responded.
"Oh please do..." He said sarcastically.
Luke cut the comm and muttered to himself angrily about cocky Holograms.
=^= Bridge to Commander Dowding =^=
"Go ahead Bridge."
=^= We are now approaching Bellicose, Sir =^=
"Understood." Luke said standing to his feet and exiting the Ready Room. He walked onto th Bridge and J'Leera vacated the centre chair for him.
"Bellicose is sending Docking information." Thirteen said.
"Understood Commander, relay the information to Helm, Mr. Peers take us in." Luke replied.

OCC:Got bored and needed to post something
Kirk watched from his seat at the Operations Station as T'Brel slowly piloted the ship into space dock. Watching a starship enter space dock from the inside had always been something Kirk had wanted to witness, the magic feeling he thought he would feel as they ship slowly passed the gate was gone, drained by the mission they had just survived.
The ship finally docked and the bridge crew could feel the weight of the mission lift from their shoulders, they were home and wanted nothing else than to enjoy a few days rest.
"Docking clamps engaged." T'Brel replorted.
"Ships systems working at 100% sir." Kirk report immediently after T'Brel.
Each of the other stations reported in with the status of their stations before Captain Dowding spoke up again.
"I am going to need your reports across my desk tomorrow by 2100. Dismissed." Dowding said.
Kirk watched as Dowding got up from his chair and jheaded into his ready room. Lookin back down at his station Kirk quickly decided it would be best if he logged out and shut down most of the non essential systems. T'Brel had finished up first and walked back to the operations station to wait for Kirk to finish up.
"Done yet?" T'Brel said.
"Just about," Kirk said pushing the last couple of commands, "Where are you going after this?"
