Jack looked at the scene in front of him, not knowing what to do or say. His mind couldn't fully comprehend what had just happend. He saw the altercation as it happened, and as the Captain fell he felt like everything around him slowed down.
"Major Rickman I would suggest instead of training your weapon on me, you are better off using that energy in tracking down our only means to get home. Saberwyn perhaps you should join him? T'Kara take care of the captain and Kirk...ah yes I know you too would take the opportunity to see me gone. Why do you not take my weapon and keep me under close surveillance? Until they capture the timetraveler, you have nothing much else to do besides keeping the doctor and the captain safe. You are an engineer, but now you must also take my position, since I cannot fulfill it at present."
"Wolf put your weapon down," Jack said finally regaining his composure," Andy I know that you want to kick his [word deleted] right now, but he's right. The faster we find this person the faster we can get the Captain back to 22nd century medicine."
Jack realized that this could be a problem. The fact that they didn't have a first officer had never been a problem until now. Wolf had the same equivalent rank as him, but he was a MACO.
"Until further notice, I'm taking command of this damned mission," Jack said looking at his friends and at Saryn," I know you didn't mean to do it, but I can't trust you with a weapon. You're going to assist us in an advisory role. T'Kara, take the Captain to a safer place and look after him."

"I believe it was already established that I should not wield any weapon other than a phase pistol," Saryn suddenly snapped, moving towards T'Kara and the fallen captain. "How is he doctor?"
(T'Kara)
"Yes I can see that he is bleeding, and if he were human we could take him to a hospital. However since he is not, we cannot do that either. Commander Logan, may I suggest that you take the rest of the crew to chase our culprit while T'Kara and I stay here. I can protect her at least, and without weapon."
He could see Logan saw the logic of his statement. Saryn couldn't move out in the open just like that, and any form of concealment could draw attention to them, unwanted attention. "Logan, take the officer's clothes," he suggested, "and perhaps Rickman could take someone's uniform too. The others could pretend to be...prisoners if need be, or civillian observers."
Meanwhile, Saryn had knelt beside T'Kara and Adams, and gently lifted the captain's head to support it, while gently placing the fingers of his right hand on the captain's face. He felt Adams' mind recoil from him upon the intrusion. ~captain stay with us~ Saryn thought, closing his eyes in concentration ~T'Kara is doing everything she can, we need you to lead us. I do not know what happened, but I do know it was my shot that felled you. I am sorry for that."
Saryn knew he was unfit to be tactical officer, as he pretty much hated wielding any form of weapon. He was proficient with weapons as was his job, but he never liked it. Now, engaged in a mindmeld with the captain, in an effort to keep him alive, he reflected on his service. ~I failed you~ he finally concluded ~but I appreciate every chance you have given me. I will promise not to let you down again if you pull through this alive~
He withdrew from the meld to see the other still stand there. "What are you waiting for?" he snapped, "the captain does not have the time. You must find this man and if needed kill him. It is our only chance of getting home."
*ooc: perhaps our culprit could just show up and threaten to blow us to smithereens?*

Rickman had already wondered at the logic of giving a now known murderer the same weapon back. As it was, they needed all they could to stop this future person of unknown credentials, but he was keeping a close eye on Saryn. At the gunfight, Adams fell, with Saryn claiming it was a ricochet. 'Wolf put your weapon down' Logan said, indicating the hunting rifle. Rickman lowered the barrel, but noted that Saryn's knowledge of firearms was to be placed in the 'none' category. So this was why Vulcans liked energy guns; they were so terrible at using weapons that people were liable to end up hurt by mistake.
As they left with Logan posing as a guard and Rickman trying to look as much like he belonged as possible, Rickman slipped T'Kara a smaller gun. 'Be careful with Saryn. Don't let him find out about the gun and if he acts out, shoot him. We can't risk more lives, that would be...' Rickman gave it a thought 'illogical' He didn't like leaving the doctor with Saryn, but there was little other choice. Saryn was dangerous and T'Kara's physiology made her a liability. <T'Kara>
'Captain Logan', Rickman said, looking for any reaction 'Adams isn't a Vulcan, so he could be taken to a hospital here. They're going to be able to treat him better than T'Kara could on Challenger. It's worth thinking about if we can't finish here fast enough' <Logan>

Kirk watched helpessly as the situation went from bad to worst. Two gun fights in just as many days that Saryn had now been involved in, this time it involved a military personel. Kirk knew their time was limited and soon they would be surrounded by the Military Police of the day.
"We need to get out of here, now!" Kirk yelled but it seemed to fall on def ears. The crews main concern appeared to be of their fallen Captain, "If we get arrested we will never see the Challenger ever again."
That thought seemed to strike home with the rest of the crew.

"Jack, have T'Kara and Saryn drop Captain Adams off at a nearby hospital. We can't risk getting caught here with two Vulcans. We can proceed with the mission with out them, we have enough people and equipment."

"Did you not listen?" Saryn countered as he got back to his feet, "Captain Adams is not human. The doctors in the hospital would hand him over to the authorities. Have you any idea how xenophobic humans were in this era? They would tear the captain apart!"
He approached Kirk, grabbing him by the arm to turn him around and force the human to face him. "They would tear him apart," he repeated, "we are better off here, while you humans finish our mission. I can take care of Doctor T'Kara and the captain for now. T'Kara or I can slow his vital signs to non-existant if needed to keep him alive. But you must hurry, you have wasted enough time trying to argue with me. Go!"
Turning his back on the chief engineer and the other crewmembers, he walked back to Adams and T'Kara, kneeling down beside them. "How is he? Will he make it?"

He could hear the sirens in the distance, someone must have informed the local authority. His friends were pratically shouting at him and he was now in charge of their lives. Captain Adams was bleeding and T'Kara didn't have the tools to heal him. He knew he was going to regret this, but he would have to leave his friend and leader here in the 20th century. Hopefully Daniels would bring him back to them after this was over with.
"Did you not listen?" Saryn countered as he got back to his feet, "Captain Adams is not human. The doctors in the hospital would hand him over to the authorities. Have you any idea how xenophobic humans were in this era? They would tear the captain apart!"
"Saryn, shut up!" Jack said annoyed. Captain Adams had told him that his father had been born on a outlining colony, but he was bascially human. The doctors of this time would not be able to tell the difference. "I don't want to hear you crap right now. We'll have to leave the Captain behind."
"Andy, Major, please remove all of our technology, we cannot allow the police to find it," Jack said disgusted with what he was about to order. "We are leaving the Captain here. The police will be able to help him, and we cannot get caught."
"No we wouldn't want that now would we," a laughing voice behind them said. All turned to face a man they had never met, but they quickly determined that it must be the man they had been looking for.
"They sent you after me," the man said," the mighty crew of the NX Challenger. Can't say I'm impressed. Your very own crewmember shot and most likely killed your captain."
"Shut up, shut the hell up!!" Jack said picking up the weapon that Saryn had dropped. He was shaking, he wanted to kill the man right then and there, but he couldn't. They had to find the technology he had used.
"Oh, Jack, your're not going to kill me, your're not there yet," the man repeated. "If you want to catch me, meet me here."
Jack was about to fire, he really was, but Andy stopped him.
"We got to go, they cops are here," Andy said as picked up the piece of paper that the man had dropped. Jack looked at the man they had come to find and was angry that they couldn't do anything about it.
"Let's go, T'Kara, Wolfgang your at point, Andy you stay with Saryn, I will take up the rear," Jack said as he gave his captain a final look over. ~You better survive sir~ Jack thought before he ordered the to run like hell.

When Captain Adams went down a Desauma startled moved to grab Saryn's gun. He was just as baffeled as anyone else at the actions of the Vulcan in recent days. That phsycological evaluation seems like a good idea right now Desauma thought as the conversations went on.
Before he could speak again Logan spoke: "Until further notice, I'm taking command of this damned mission," Jack said looking at his friends and at Saryn," I know you didn't mean to do it, but I can't trust you with a weapon. You're going to assist us in an advisory role. T'Kara, take the Captain to a safer place and look after him." After a few minutes the three were gone from sight. "Logan, take the officer's clothes," Saryn suggested from the shadows, "and perhaps Rickman could take someone's uniform too. The others could pretend to be...prisoners if need be, or civillian observers." As they left with Logan posing as a guard and Rickman trying to look as much like he belonged as possible, Rickman slipped T'Kara a smaller gun. 'Be careful with Saryn. For a brief second Desauma thought he heard a voice in his head as the new arrival shot a brief menacing look his way. "Your family will ruin mine in the future," the voice was saying.
"They sent you after me," the man said," the mighty crew of the NX Challenger. Can't say I'm impressed. Your very own crewmember shot and most likely killed your captain."
"Shut up, shut the hell up!!" Jack said picking up the weapon that Saryn had dropped. That sounds like the voice in my head Desauma thought as he discretly withdrew his scanner and scanned the man. At that moment he noticed that Logan had picked up the Saryn's discarded pistol. They had to find the technology he had used.
"Oh, Jack, your're not going to kill me, you're not there yet," the man repeated. "If you want to catch me, meet me here."

When they got back to the van Desauma asked to talk with Logan. "Commander I want you to know I heard a voice in my head. It told me that my family would ruin its family in the future. I think that man has some telepathic abilities," Desauma said quickly. (Tag: Logan) "I also wanted to show you this," Desauma said quietly as he lifted up the scanner. "There is human DNA in him but I also see Klingon, a variant of a Vulcan strand and one I can't identify. What should we do?" the Lieutenant asked as he finished. (Tag: Logan) A little while later they were parked outside Golden Gate Park waiting for the time that had been specified on the note. (Tag: All)

With a sigh, Saryn fell into step beside the chief engineer who made a point of ignoring him altogether. It was just as well because Saryn was in no mood to be conversational. The more he worked with these humans, the more he found them an illogical species. Especially the marine's behaviour irked him. Wasn't the marine credo 'semper fi'? Wasn't it a marine policy that no man was to be left behind? And yet here they were, leaving their captain behind with the possible risk that he would die.
Saryn felt that they wouldn't get the chance to come back for him. "Could we not just leave the captain in the back of the van?" he suggested quietly, as they all climbed into the van. The Vulcan gained no response, just angry glares and he fell quiet.
He leaned against the side of the van, gazing out the window as Saberwyn drove the van back to Golden Gate Park at a maddening speed. They were parked at the edge of the park, at the specified place in the note Logan had picked up. Now, the maddening waiting game would begin and Saryn found himself briefly wondering whether he would see his bondmate and sons ever again or whether he'd be stuck in this mad century full of distrust and misbehaviour.
As he reflected over the past few days, he still couldn't believe his loss of self control and the massacre he had caused. Not to mention that it had been his weapon that had caused the life-threatening injury on the captain. He just couldn't believe it. what he could believe was the distrust he was sensing from his crewmates, and the anger towards him. He'd been fairly surprised when Logan had fallen out at him, even if he couldn't blame the communications chief.
Still holding his silence, he tapped Kirk on the shoulder and motioned towards the park. Someone was approaching.

Jack couldn't help, but look back. He was doing something he swore he would never do. He was leaving a man behind, something that Starfleet and MACO never accepted. The only way Captain Adams was going to survive was by recieving immediate medical attention. As the van raced across the San Fransico streets, Jack kept telling himself this.
"Commander I want you to know I heard a voice in my head. It told me that my family would ruin its family in the future. I think that man has some telepathic abilities," Desauma said quickly.
"I agree," Jack responded realizing that it was the most logical answer. The man knew things about them and their emotions. Things that wouldn't be in a pesonal file.
"I also wanted to show you this," Desauma said quietly as he lifted up the scanner. "There is human DNA in him but I also see Klingon, a variant of a Vulcan strand and one I can't identify. What should we do?" the Lieutenant asked as he finished.
"There is nothing we can really do," Jack said," Captain Adams blood is still red and human science has not yet mapped DNA. They won't be able to tell the difference yet."
The rest of the trip to Golden State Park was in silence. The note the man had left them said to meet him there in three hours. They all knew it would be a trap, but they didn't care. There mission was to capture him and his equipment. As they closed in on the park, there scanners picked up on what they had been looking for. It seemed that everything they needed would be here. The man, his technology and hopefully a way home.
The got out of the van and headed towards the benches on the right side of the park. It was completely empty and the trees gave more than adequate coverage.
"Wolfgang, give T'Kara and Saryn a weapon," Jack ordered. This order was immedaitely questioned by all. " T'Kara, just don't shoot any of us. Saryn if you do have another accident, I won't hesistate to shoot you. Also, if things go awry and it seems that our mission is going to fail. Kill him, kill the [word deleted]. I feel comfortable dieing if we at least completed this mission."

Everyone was ready, pistols in there hands waiting for him to arrive. The wind had started to pick up, but they heard the rustle of the leaves notifing them that someone was approaching.

Rickman wasn't sure of Saryn's outburst about Adam's humanity. Yet Adams looked human and from what he could tell, T'Kara never voiced any objections to the label. One way or the other, Saryn was losing it... It was also bothering him about leaving Adams behind. Of course, no soldier ever wanted to see another left behind. But one man vs the world saw a clear winner and Adams would die with them but survive if left, the opposite to the usual operating conditions. Yet somehow that didn't seem to make things better. Come the time of the Challenger again, Adams would be long dead. Effectively he was dead to their time, even if he lived another hundred years.
They left the van near the Golden Gate Bridge, an almost total misnomer given the redness and lack of gates. Still, at least it was a bridge.
'Wolfgang, give T'Kara and Saryn a weapon,' Logan ordered. Clearly Logan could see the looks of 'why?!?' from everyone, but he persevered. 'T'Kara, just don't shoot any of us.' Logan continued Always sage advice, Rickman couldn't fault that one. 'Saryn if you do have another accident, I won't hesistate to shoot you.' Might cause problems to come up in the future... 'Also, if things go awry and it seems that our mission is going to fail. Kill him, kill the [word deleted]. I feel comfortable dying if we at least completed this mission.' 'I've never felt comfortable dying.' Rickman stated 'If he pulls a gun, I'm shooting him before he does us' Rickman had handed T'Kara a pistol previously, but Logan clearly hadn't seen. To make things easier, he pretended he was going to give her one for the first time. He gave what had been Adam's gun, a six shot revolver, to Saryn, but removed all but one bullet. 'Major, this makes no sense. How am I to be effective with only one bullet' Saryn protested 'We can't trust you, so every time you fire it, if you haven't killed one of us then I'll give you another one. Just don't go far' Rickman had heard about the loss of control and the innocent deaths at the airport. Killing civilians was the worst thing a soldier could do. Leaving a man behind was one thing, but he signed up for it. Now how many parents were childless, how many children, brothers and sisters had lost one dear to them? If it hadn't been for Saryn's Vulcan heritage, Rickman would have booted him out the van at the first police he saw. All he could think of the Vulcan now was 'murderer'.
At the rustle of leaves, Rickman shouldered his Winchester rifle. 'Your lead, captain' he whispered to Logan

Saryn sighed. "I might as well not have any weapon at all," he murmured as he moved away a little from the MACO chief. He had always thought marines to be trigger-happy though he wondered if he should still be having that presumption, giving his own 'triggerhappiness' only hours ago. ~it was an accident~ he tried to assure himself ~the captain was not in my line of sight, he was behind me~
But how would he reassure himself on the massacre at the airport? He couldn't even remember firing his weapon, yet he was so sure it'd been him. ~he is right, I cannot be trusted with a weapon...but how did I become like this? And why?~
A sharp nudge in his side got him back to reality and he focussed on the point where Rickman was training his rifle. Closing one eye, Saryn peered over the barrel of his own gun. The waiting game had begun.

It had never been his plan to travel back to 1986 Earth, but it had worked out perfectly. Daniels had sent people after him, people who in the long run would make his plan a success. He had been searching for weeks for the materials he would need, but alas he was done. All he needed now was a temporal marker, one that he would aquire from the Challenger senior staff.
"What's all this stuff, dude?" someone asked. He didn't know who had said, but he wasn't about to reveal his secrets to the hired help. He had found them strolling the streets late at night. They called themselves the 32rd Street gang. He had promised them riches if they would help him.
He of course had no intention of repaying them, but he knew he could use them as canon fodder. The Challenger officer's would be armed and he would need the servies of the 32rd gang to quiet them up.
"You don't need to know," he responded," just remember that I need them alive."
"Alright, just remember what you promised us," the leader of the gang said.
"I won't trust me," he repsonded as the car came to a stop. He quickly got out of the car and searched the area. Like expected the park was empty and like predicatable Starfleet officers, the Challenger crew was waiting for him.
"Let's go take care of buisness," he said with a smile on his face and a pistol in his hand.

'Wolfgang, give T'Kara and Saryn a weapon,' Logan ordered. The look of shock was clearly on everyone's face, including Desauma's, but Logan didn't seem fazed by the looks. 'T'Kara, just don't shoot any of us.' Logan continued
'Saryn if you do have another accident, I won't hesitate to shoot you.'
'Also, if things go awry and it seems that our mission is going to fail. Kill him, kill the [word deleted]. I feel comfortable dying if we at least completed this mission.' 'I've never felt comfortable dying.' Rickman stated 'If he pulls a gun, I'm shooting him before he does us' It all depends an who is the quickest on the draw Desauma thought as he massaged the grip on his .357 Magnum. Desauma saw Rickman give T'Kara a gun. Rickman also gave what had been Adam's gun, a six shot revolver, to Saryn, but removed all but one bullet. 'Major, this makes no sense. How am I to be effective with only one bullet' Saryn protested 'We can't trust you, so every time you fire it, if you haven't killed one of us then I'll give you another one. Just don't go far'
At the rustle of leaves, Rickman shouldered his Winchester rifle. Desauma adjusted his holster as he moved into nearby trees. Saryn sighed. "I might as well not have any weapon at all," he murmured as he moved away a little from the MACO chief. Lieutenant Saberwyn kept everybody, including Saryn, in his line of site as he crouched in the underbrush. Desauma was checking his ammo when he noticed a group of guys walking up. One he recognized immediately, the 'man' they were after, the others however Desauma didn't recognize. A defensive screen, this guy is smarter than I thought Desauma thought as Logan was spotted. One of the people Voretar was with shouted an obsenity and opened fire. Desauma took a deep breath, closed his eyes and when he opened them again, the lieutenant abbandoned his cover to open fire. Kirk could feel his heart racing as he crouched as low as he could in the near by bushes. This was the first time that Kirk could ever remember not being able to control his fear and as he looked around trying to calm himself down he watched each member of the crew checking their weapons.
Then it happened, the man they had been after this whole time suddenly appeared as if out of nowhere with two other men as body guards. Kirk imminently recognized the man from the airport only a few days ago.
The two other men walked deliberately around in a large circle, checking each others back as they scanned the area. It was then that the 'man' pulled out a scanner and Kirk knew that things were going to start to happen real soon, and with out warning Saberwyn stood up alone and started firing.
Not seconds later did the rest of the crew join in the fire fight. Kirk hesitated for a brief second and when he finally found the courage to stand and fight he was quickly struck down by a wild shot.
A burning sensation erupted from Kirk's stomach, sending him back down to the ground. He covered the wound with his hands but watched in horror as blood run straight through his fingers onto the dirt of his former hiding place.
As Kirk looked up he watched in near slow motion as the battle continue to unfold. With each passing breath his vision started to blur and he found himself having a hard time keeping his eyes open. He knew he was going into shock, but there wasn't anything he could do about it.

Rickman heard the two shots go off and immediatly put a bullet through the head of one of the two flanking figures. He rolled sidways into a new position so that where his shot had come from wouldn't give him away. A moment later he was joined by Saryn, who was holding his hand out for another bullet. Rickman checked briefly to see that all Starfleet people were still unshot and then handed Saryn a second bullet. It was about the most inefficient method of fighting, but the only one possible. The other two had disappeared into the terrain as well, but Rickman could hear at least one gun going off. The other might be dead or with the first. A heavy thud from behind announced an unfortunate circumstance. Rickman handed Saryn another bullet and crawled to where it had come from to find the Chief Engineer nearly absent from reality. 'Damnit, Kirk, why did you stand up?' 'Better angle' the engineer replied weakly as he passed out of the conscious world Bloody engineers, Rickman though, good with angles, crap with firefights. Ballsy though, but that probably came to a group known for willingly walking into areas with weird energy leaking out of the walls. 'Man down' Rickman voiced loudly, attempting to catch the attention of the medic without giving their situation away. He noticed Saryn looking his way and threw the Vulcan another bullet.

It had happened so fast that Jack didn't know what to do at first. His experiences during the Romulan War had made him a war veteran, but he still lacked the experience that Wolfgang had. As he looked at the people firing at him and his friends, Jack told himself that no one else would be lost to this stupid mission Daniels had sent them on. No sooner had he thought this that he heard multiple gunshots destroy the peaceful silence of an empty park. His head immediately turned where he saw Andy, his best friend, fall to the ground clutching his stomach. Jack wanted to run, he wanted to see if his friend was safe, but that wasn't possible. The gun he had in his hand was full of bullets, bullets that could kill the people who were trying to kill him. "You idiot, I said don't kill them, I need there temp.......," the man started to say before he was forced to take cover. Jack looked at the tricorder that Daniels had given him. ~Was he looking for this?~ Jack regrouped himself, now knowing what they must do. He steadied his body and took aim. Since he hadn't moved since the beginning of the firefight, he was now behind the enemy. Unaware of Jack, they were not able to dodge his bullets in time. Three of them fell in quick fashion. This caused the others to flee into the park. TAG Everyone add anything you please, but please allow it to follow with my post. Not a must, but remember I'm crazy "Wolfgang, shoot him, but don't kill him," Jack ordered knowing that the MACO was the only who could do it. The MACO's shot was true and the MAN was down. Jack quickly ran towards him making sure to throw his gun a few meters to the right. Jack proceeded to pummel the Man's face with his fist. He wanted to kill the [word deleted], but was stopped by of all people Saryn. "Why the hell did you stop me?" Jack blazed. "I am pretty sure you hear them do you not," Saryn said referring to the sirens approaching. "Damn," Jack said as he confiscated everything on the MAN," Major quickly check the van for any other technology. Saryn help T'Kara." Jack knew they didn't have much time as he activated the temporal locater. A few meters in front of him a bright doorway appeared. ~Not very original~ Jack thought as he ordered T'Kara to take Andy into it. "It could be a trap," T'Kara said. "It's not," Jack said as he ordered her through. As they passed through the doorway, Jack took the time to think about his captain. He didn't know what would become of him, but he hoped Daniels would be able to help. "Major blow the van up!" Jack ordered hearing the sirens ever so closer. "You..... have failed.. I will survive this injury and continue my work," the Man said laughing. Jack knew he was right, he could hear Wolfgang running towards him, dogs fast on his trail. "No you won't," Jack said as he lifted his gun and emptied it into his stomach. He could feel droplets of blood on his face, but he didn't care. He had to make sure that this wouldn't happen again. ~Forgive me Captain~ Jack thought as he and Wolfgang plunged into the doorway. <Tag Everyone> OOC: If you guys want us back on the Challenger immediately than so be it. If you don't want to write it then I will do it. The explanation about Adams will be done by myself and Andy, came up with something good this morning, lol. If we choose to be back on the Challenger, we will be where this mission started having no time passed but a few seconds.

One minute they were still running for their lives, towards this portal while behind them the van blew up in a giant ball of flame and smoke. The next minute, they all found themselves back at their stations, where the chronometer indicated only a few minutes had passed since their departure.
Yet, Saryn held every memory of what was to them the past few days. He clearly remembered the massacre he caused, he clearly remembered shooting, and he certainly remembered Rickman passing him the needed ammunition one by one, after each shot fired that hadn't downed a starfleet officer.
All of them were on the bridge, Saryn noted after a brief survey. All but two. Kirk obviously was placed back in engineering, but where was Adams? "Commander..." Saryn started, just as a call came in from engineering.
=^=Captain! Commander Kirk has collapsed! I need a medical team in here right now!=^=
Saryn glanced at Logan, casting him a meaningful glance. T'Kara had been impassive the last few days, and had seemed not herself either. "I will go..." he started, but was cut off by Rickman, who snapped he wasn't going anywhere.
"Very well, I will remain here while the chief engineer possibly bleeds to death." Saryn turned to Logan again, who had assumed command since Adams had been shot. "Commander, where is Captain Adams? And I believe I can help Commander Kirk, I have medical training."

"Saryn go help Andy," Jack said looking at the empty center seat," Major go with him. Make sure he stays lucid. If you think he's having another breakdown, I want you to take care of it."
"Commander, where did you come from?" Ensign Chavez asked," the entire senior staff transported down to San Fransico only two minutes ago."
"Two minutes," Jack whispered.
"Sir, where's the captain?" Chavez asked.
"Contact Headquarters," Jack ordered.
"Unable to comply, Commander, we are no longer at out last known location. According to our readings, were five lightyears from the Romulan border."
"Full stop," Jack ordered alarmed now more than ever. He was worried about Andy down in sickbay, Captain Adams, the proximaty to the Romulan border, and the fact that Daniels had not contacted them. "Are you sure we are this close to the Romulan border?"
"Yes, sir," Chavez reported.
"Turn us around, maximun speed towards Allied space," Jack ordered as took helm control and hoped that they didn't meet any Romulans along the way.
~I will contact you within the week. I will try to explain everything~ was the vioce Jack heard in his head.

Kirk struggled to keep himself from passing out, but it was a sensation he wasn't prepared to fight for very long. He could hear bullets wizzing by overhead, and that combinded with the burning pain from his stomach kept the Chief Engineer down on the ground.
It had only seem like seconds since he was shot to the point when the fighting stopped. The familiar sounds of old Earth sirens kept Kirk from going completely out, he knew that help was on the way.
"Kirk, snap out of it." Kirk heard from what seemed to be a vast distance, "T'Kara take Andy through the portal."
"It could be a trap." T'Kara insisted.
"It's not." Jack said.
Two strong arms pulled hard on Kirk's jacket and he felt himself being pulled backwards. His head flopped back and forth with each step that T'Kara took, then suddenly there was only the bright white light.
Am I dying? Kirk thought. The light came as a flash and just as suddenly as he had seen it it was gone. His eyes tried to adjust to the now dim light back on the Challenger just as he collapsed onto the ground.
"Engineering to Birdge, Lt. Kirk is hurt. Send medical attention ASAP."
The smells of the Engine room caused a calming affect on the engineer, he knew he was home, and safe. He then let himself slip away into uncounsiousness.
----LATER----
Kirk's eyes opened and the pain was gone, but his head now hurt. Standing over him was Jack, and T'Kara, the Vulcan healer. Kirk could see the relieved look on Jack's face, the Vulcan as usual seemed to not care either way.
"You're back." Jack said.
"Looks like we made it." Kirk replied.
"Yeah, we made it."
"I really screwed up." Kirk said, clearly upset with his actions.
"No," Jack said trying to console his friend, "You're an engineer, your not used to life and death fire fights like this."
"You're one to talk Mr. MACO." Kirk joked.
"Looks like you are back to normal." Jack replied with a smile.
"Just about. My stomach doesn't hurt anymore, but my head does now. Go figure." Kirk said.
"That's normal trama, your body is a little dehydrated, this will get a rid of your 'headach'." T'Kara said as she pressed a medicated spray against his neck and injected it into his body.
"When can I get out of here?" Kirk asked.
"After a few hours of observation, then you will be able to leave."
"Perfect, I should have the Super Bowl ready for viewing when you get out." Jack said.
"Good. Then I'm going to take a nap now." Kirk said as his eyes began to feel heavy, "I don't think that medication is the right....stuuuffff."

Jack wasn't about to tell his best friend that it was in fact Saryn who had saved his life not T'Kara. He hadn't given it much thought, but Saryn was correct in stating that T'Kara was not herself. It was like she wasn't all there.
~I'll have to make sure to thank him~ Jack thought as he continued to smile at the engineer. They had been close to loosing him, but Saryn's medical knowledge had saved the day.
"After a few hours of observation, then you will be able to leave."
"Perfect, I should have the Super Bowl ready for viewing when you get out." Jack said smiling. The best way for them to unwind was to watch sports and this was the best time as any. Jack had informed the entire senior staff about the message Daniel had given him. They were all anxious to here what he would say. For now he would have to push it aside and tend to the crew.
The Challenger was currently going at max impulse. The engines had been running hot for a couple of hours and they had to give them a rest. At this rate they would reach friendly space in a week, which by then they should have more answers.
"Good. Then I'm going to take a nap now." Kirk said as his eyes began to feel heavy, "I don't think that medication is the right....stuuuffff."
"Do that again and I'll shoot you," Jack said as he left Andy sleeping and T'Kara alone. ~Maybe I'll invite Saryn to watch the game, he did seem to enjoy the beer last time~ Jack thought as he walked down the corridors of the NX-03 Challenger.

Kirk had been watching the time go by and it seemed as if he would never get out of sickbay. Finally, T'Kara came out of her office and stood by Kirk's side, looking over his vital signs.
"I think you are now ready to head back to duty Lieutenant."
"Thank you," Kirk said as he raised himself off the bed, "I don't think I could stand another second in this place."
T'Kara didn't say anything, but if there was a human doctor he knew they would've been offended by Kirk's comments, so he quickly apologized, "Sorry."
"For what?" T'Kara asked.
"For what I just said." Kirk replied.
"Expressing your opinion?"
"Nevermind." Kirk said as he jumped from the bed and made for the door. Just as he reached the door, he pushed on the panel, the door slid open and just as he was about to leave he turned back around to face T'Kara, "Thank you."
"Just doing my job, as you humans say."
The phrase created a small smile on Kirk's face. If he didn't know any better he was starting to like Vulcans. There wasn't much time to waste, there was a Super bowl to watch.

Saryn walked into the ship's common room, still puzzled over the invitation he had received. While he had lived on Earth for several years, he still had no idea what a super bowl was, except perhaps a giant type of drinking item. He had only moved to San Francisco after his assignment to Starfleet, before that they had lived in France and United Kingdom for several years.
His sons had attended a French primary school and a British highschool, and the last he heard they were still in close contact with some class mates. Through them he and T'Vin knew everything about soccer and cricket, Saryn had even played cricket himself while on assignment in the UK.
With a puzzled look on his face, he approached Logan and Kirk. "What is this super bowl?" he querried, as he looked up to meet Kirk's eyes. They hadn't spoken since the massacre on the airport, and Saryn wasn't certain how the chief engineer would react, knowing how he felt about Vulcans in general. The engineer had made that sentiment quite clear the first time they had met. Looking more closely at the younger man, Saryn noted he looked better than he'd last seen him, even though he looked to be still a little shaky on his feet. "How do you feel commander?" he asked, in the hope to start some conversation.

Kirk found his way to the ships common room where he and Jack had decided to watch the Super Bowl. Normally the two would watch football games in either one of their quarters on a small TV but this was the 41st Super Bowl they were going to be watching. Super Bowls were always occasions that needed to be celebrated on a much grander scale than normal games, hence the use of the common room.
"What is this Super Bowl?" Saryn asked.
Kirk first looked at Jack and then decided to answer, "It's the championship game between two old Earth football teams. This years game is between the Colts and the Bears."
"First year that Payton Manning and his Colts won the his big one." Jack added.
The added details seemed to cause Saryn to lose interest in the topic. The three offciers stood for a few moments just looking at each other. Finally Saryn spoke up.
"How do you feel commander?" Saryn asked changing the subject.
"I'm feeling better, thanks." Kirk replied.
Kirk knew that things had changed for him during the last couple of missions with his feelings about Vulcans were concerned. He wondered what influences humans might have had on Saryn's behavior, but that wasn't a topic he was going to press.
"Where's the rest of the guys?" Kirk asked to Jack and Saryn.

Jack had prepared everything himself. He had assembled a big screen TV, which took a lot longer than he thought. There was chips, dips, and some cold sandwiches. He had made sure to invite the entire crew hoping that the captain's disappearance and the strange orders could be ignored for a couple of hours. He still hadn't received word from Daniels which was starting to infuriate him.
For the moment, he would try to enjoy himself along side his friends.
"Where's the rest of the guys?" Kirk asked to Jack and Saryn.
"They will be here, I had to order a few to show up, but they will be here," Jack said as he took a swig of his beer. It was hard to get everyone together on a ship this size voluntarily. For the last couple of years they had served together almost non stop. When the crew got a chance to do anything they wanted most of them decided to do that alone.
"Saryn would you like a drink?" Jack asked remembering how he had reacted to the alcohol last time.

"I didn't really like the game you know, it rained during the entire game," Daniels said behind them. All three of them turned to face the man who had the answers to their questions. It took them a second to realize that they were no longer on the Challenger but somewhere else.
"Where are we?" Jack asked.
"That will be hard to explain, Jack" Daniels," but in lamest turn its a stop point in the temporal network. We view history as it unfolds here."
"Where is he?" Jack asked wanting to know about Captain Adams.
"Well thats complicated as well," Daniels responded.
"What the hell do you mean by its complicated?" Jack asked mad at the runaround.

Saryn glanced at the golden fluid in the cup Logan was holding and was about to shake his head when suddenly their surroundings changed. They no longer appeared to be on Challenger, but there was no clear definition to their current location. It was brightly coloured, and moving at dizzying speeds.
He glanced at Kirk and caught his annoyed glance, then both turned towards Daniels and Logan. "What is so complicated about telling us where our captain is?" Saryn spoke quietly, while placing a restraining hand on Logan's arm in quiet warning.
"You sent us back to 20th century San Fransisco, and you are responsible to what happened there. Certainly, in a small way we are responsible for what happened during our presence there, but in the long run, you are the one messing with time, not us." Saryn released Jack's arm and took a small step back, away from Daniels.
"And now you are claiming that telling us where Captain Adams is, will be complicated. We will not be satisfied with that answer, there will have to be a logical explanation for this. You messed with our lives, nearly got us killed, possibly got the captain killed, we deserve an explanation. And you had better start explaining."
Saryn paused again, his eyes flashing as he stared at the temporal officer. "I have just restrained Commander Logan, I will refrain from doing it again should he choose to move against you. And I can still claim insanity, as your trick nearly drove me to the brink of mental destruction. Choose, Mister Daniels, for I doubt you will wish us to be against you."
