[Starbase 47: Ops]
Lieutenant Commander Alexi Tamarov narrowed his eyes as he read the real-time updates of the general mission logs being transmitted between the Enzio, Raven, El Salvador, Maracanda, and the Starbase itself. The Lieutenant Commander had recently transferred from the El Salvador, Captain Savot promoting him to Lt. Commander from Lieutenant just prior to his departure, after serving there many years and was now assigned to the Starbase's Administative Section as a junior command-line officer able to be seconded out to Security should circumstances require it. He read of Commander Deis Irae's boarding of the Halanan vessel and recover of 2 prisoners and one of the Enzio's shuttlecraft. As he contemplated how he might do something favorable about this... the opportunity presented itself, and he worked the surface of his console to remote-access the El Salvador's database by piggybacking on the live-feed signal currently active between the Starbase and El Salvador.
A comms officer on the Starbase's Command deck spoke out with subdued urgency, "Section Admiral! Live-feed telemetry from the El Salvador just cut off without warning. They're not responding to hails either."
A pleased grin on his inner countenance so no one could see it, Tamarov turned and stood to attention, "Section Admiral; the El Salvador's shields have just lowered and their running lights are blinking in an odd pattern likely intended to convey technical duress. As they haven't beamed anyone to us to give a sit-rep, I believe their transporters are also affected by whatever knocked out their comms. Given we don't know how many of their systems are impacted, someone personally familiar with the ship's layout would seem most efficient to send. Request permission to transport aboard the El Salvador to ascertain her status and source of communications terminus face-to-face, and report back after returning the recovered shuttle to the Enzio."

*************************************************************************** [El Salvador Bridge: Minutes prior]
Just as the Enzio was hailing the El Salvador requesting a status update on the interrogation of the 2 recovered prisoners, the signal cut out abruptly. Arching an eyebrow, Savot spun the captain's chair to look toward the Master Situation Console at the rear of the bridge and saw indicator lights noting locations of system malfunctions.
Before Savot could even reach the controls to hail Engineering, Commander Delbridge's voice rang out over the bridge intercom, =^=Engineering to Bridge; external communications just went offline and we'll probably lose intras-=^=, the signal cut out prompting another eyebrow raise from the vulcan.
Surprisingly brief a time later, the turbolift opened to reveal a heavily panting Cadet Zhegras who hastily moved her not insubstantial Tellarite form towards Savot handing him a datapadd and reporting between gulps of breath, “Commander Delbridge's apologies, Captain, some kind of invasive code has triggered a localized malfunction of all our communications including, as you experienced, intraship. So he sent me up to brief you; he hasn't found the cause yet but he said it behaved like it came from somewhere already within our computers, not an external attack. A team is heading to the main shuttlebay to route a temporary communications hub through the Mini-Sal's systems so we can get internal comms back up until he finds a permanent fix.”
Wanting to go himself, but knowing his place was on the bridge coordinating, Savot turned to face Karysta at Ops, "Cadet Karysta, report to Sickbay immediately to determine if their backup power systems are functioning and if they aren't secure portable power cells for the intensive care systems. I will man Operations in your absence." Savot's Mirror daughter barely nodded before she was already springing into action; icy as she might still ofttimes feel towards Savot for sharing her biological father's face, she was developing a growing respect for the First Officer's toughness and tenacity and wanted to do what she could to make sure Irae was all right. Savot sat back at the station that was such an old friend to him, the controls comforting in their familiarity and the reminder of his longest held duty station, "Cadet Zhegras, man the bridge Engineering station and shunt power to-and-from the ship's external running lights in old terran morse code so as to provide a potential visual signal for the Starbase to notice and understand our status until communications are restored."
Working the Ops consoles LCARS interface, Savot lowered the El Salvador's shields as an additional indicator of their distress that would be easily detected by their fellows. He wanted to send a messenger to the Starbase to report directly but their Transporters were likewise offline and without something more complete to report to them it wasn't worth risking using a shuttle's transporters. Besides, from the moment of their departure, any messenger the El Sal could send would immediately know no more about the ship's situation that those aboard Starbase 47 so Savot judged it best to wait until either the Starbase transported someone aboard, or the El Salvador's external comms were restored. He ran an immediate diagnostic on the brig systems presently containing their prisoners. He was able to confirm the containment fields were holding and the prisoners were still secure in their separate cells. With that in-hand, the vulcan set to work trying to trace the origin of the problem. He called up the exact timestamp of the communications cut-out and began a diagnostic to track all computer activity that had begun immediately prior to that timestamp, ruling those out, moving to the next time window, rinse and repeat. It wouldn't be quick work sifting through all the operations taking place via the El Salvador's computers throughout the entire ship's network but he could start by eliminating items such as sonic shower activation, replicator activation for their purpose of organic sustenance, activation of lights within crew quarters, and mundane items of that nature.
*************************************************************************** [El Salvador: Main Sickbay]
With Karysta's half-vulcan half-romulan genetic background, and her present physical condition, the longest span of her journey to sickbay was the turbolift ride which was thus far blissfully exempt from whatever malfunctions were plaguing the ship. Once on the correct deck she broke into a full sprint and arrived shortly at Sickbay, slowing to a walk and not breathing any heavier than when she had been seated on the Bridge. Recognizing Nurse Iris as the most senior personnel present who wasn't sedated, Karysta made towards her, "Nurse Iris; I've been sent from the bridge. The ship is experiencing malfunctions in communications and transporters; no other systems are impacted to our knowledge but the Captain wished to confirm Sickbay was not experiencing power loss or any other severe detriment. Is there anything I may do to assist?"

.. 00:28:11 .. .. 00:28:10 .. .. 00:28:09 .. On the Raven Bridge, Harry Wedlerson, in the centre seat, was monitoring the communication between El Salvador and the other vessels, mid-sentence the Comm fell silent! "Lieutenant, Try to reestablish Comm with El Salvador," "Trying Commander, no luck, their communications are off-line," came the reply, shaking his head Harry called the Admiral and Exec' back to the Bridge ..... The two Seniormost Officers entered the Bridge simultaneously: "Still no contact?" Blakus asked, moving to one of the vacant stations. "No Sir, in fact, their shields have now dropped," Lysia T'Seng replied from Tactical. "Any sings they are under any outside influence?" Carl asked as he dropped into the vacated centre seat. "No Sir, it's possible it's an internal computer issue, but we can't know that," The Tactical Officer commented, "Sir, the Ireuken Factory station is relocating towards the event horizon," "Getting out of our way maybe?" the Operations Chief speculated. "Possible..." Torek said, frowning, "Helm, bring us about, set course for El Salvador, hold at two thousand meters but keep us in a position to move past her if the need arises," "Yes Admiral," the Gynoid confirmed. "Sir, the Starbase is confirming they are aware of El Salvador's difficulties," the Comms Officer relayed. Carl looked at the chronometer above the viewscreen, it showed they had less than twenty-five minutes before the Starbase must begin the approach to the wormhole to be far enough through to avoid any actions the oncoming vessels take on arrival. He requested a tactical plot on-screen and studied the readout thoroughly, coming to a decision he asked for the normal view then turned to the Comms Officer. "Lieutenant, contact the Maracanda, pass on my instructions that they relocate to a position five hundred meters beneath the Starbast parallel to the Spacedoors. I want her to be able to enter and dock before El Salvador or ourselves approach, then see if you can establish contact with Commodore Savot... Lysia, are you detecting any further systems' failures on El Salvador?" "Nothing yet Sir... Their shields are still down as are comms," the woman replied as Carl turned to Andae who had taken his seat: "We're cutting this fine... Twenty-five minutes before the Starbase needs to commence their approach. It's going to take the El Sal' and ourselves a minimum of say, twelve minutes to make our approach and enter the dome. That's saying they have the additional docking pylons in place and ready to use. It's not giving us much time to make a decision," "Contact Gheskori?" his Exec' suggested, Carl nodded and stood, Andae doing likewise. He asked Calli to join them as he headed for his ready room informing Commander Wedlerson he had Conn ..... He sat behind his desk and instructed the Comms Officer to contact the Starbase, a moment later the image of Section Admiral Gheskori appeared. =^= Carl .. I see you are monitoring Savot's issues =^= =^= Anything at all from El Salvador? =^= Torek asked. =^= We know as much as you do .. There doesn't appear to be any immediate danger but we are monitoring =^= =^= Sir .. .. Regarding a decision on 'Go or No go' .. .. I suggest we take the Maracanda in and secure her .. I will move to coax El Salvador towards the Starbase .. If she has drive systems she will realize what we're doing and I can move away .. If not she will need to be tractored into the dome .. Doesn't leave us much time =^= Carl finished, seeing Gheskori nodding, deep in thought. =^= Agreed Admiral .. I will instruct Maracanda to dock immediately .. As for El Salvador .. .. =^= =^= I'll approach and 'nudge' her in the right direction .. If there is any change in the approaching vessels I can break off to intercept =^= Torek replied. =^= Understood Admiral .. I will contact you following the Maracand docking .. Gheskori out =^= the screen went blank before showing the Starfleet emblem, Carl turned to the others: "Let's go see if we can persuade Savot to play 'follow my leader' with us, shall we," he said with a wry grin... The three left the Ready Room and reentered the Bridge. "Helm, bring us to a position directly ahead of El Salvador at two hundred meters..." he sat patiently waiting as the Sovereign Class Starship slipped past the Fleet Flagship and into position, "... Anything?" he asked. "Nothing Sir, they are still having issues," T'Seng answered. "OK, bring the tractor on-line, lock onto El Salvador at, thirty per cent power," "Sir, we'll never move her at that level," Wedlerson said. "We're not trying to move her Harry, just hint at her following if she can. If Savot doesn't follow we'll know he's having drive issues and we'll come back," Carl said with a shrug. "Tractor beam established," T'Seng confirmed. "OK... Ahead at one meter per second then hold our position after one thousand meters, we'll see if they follow," .......... Transit Deadline ::

OOC: The incoming ships are either all Alarodian, or a mixture of Alarodian and Halanan vessels (rather than Ireuken)
IC: "... Request permission to transport aboard the El Salvador to ascertain her status and source of communications terminus face-to-face, and report back after returning the recovered shuttle to the Enzio."
Gheskori sensed his aide Commander Barton turning to him, he glanced at the Commander and nodded. Barton approached the rail overlooking the lower level of the command centre, "Give 'em hell, Commander Tamarov."
The Denobulan paused and looked at his aide, looked back again at Tamarov, "As Barton says, Commander... 'Give m hell.'" He didn't realise Tamarov had already done so. He blinked and shook his head, looking away and taking note of the Intelligence officer stood towards the back of the middle deck who seemed to be boring holes into the panoramic viewscreen as it showed a side-on view of the El Salvador.
"Her running lights, I recognise that..."
"And you are?" Barton said, approaching the black uniformed man.
He explained he was Clancy, one of David Tan's team serving the Intel Director as their premier unit. "On the El Alamein's assignment..." He stopped his mouth as he remembered they had effectively been sworn to secrecy by the Korowia ship's computer; even revealing they'd used morse code to communicate with the Defiant class whilst trapped on the generation ship would break that agreement. "Let's just say I had a lot of free time... and used it to study old methods of communication," the Intel officer said unconvincingly.
"Ok..." Gheskori said, turning away bemused. Minutes later he communicated with the Raven, as well as other information letting the ship know they'd learnt from the morse code that the El Salvador had lost transporters and comms, the shields having been taken down as a way to signal they were suffering from systems malfunctions. The Raven attempted to encourage the Excalibur class to follow them at low impulse towards the Starbase - which now began its approach to the event horizon - not being able to communicate with them directly and inform them what'd been decided.
=/\=The encouragement is not working at the moment, Admiral,=/\= Torek spoke to Ops over a new comm, =/\=What is Starbase's instructions?=/\=
Ghes considered the matter and let the officers about him make a decision, then gathered their opinions and spoke, =/\=According to our sensors and the El Salvador's own running lights signalling, their engines are still online. There must be another reason why they're not following - let's give the Commodore a while longer to respond. We still have ten minutes before you both need to dock.=/\=
<Tag El Salvador>
"Gheskori, Captain Manley confirms the Maracanda has docked in its emergency berth."
=/\=Did you copy about the Maracanda, Raven?=/\= Ghes said, receiving a nod from the Raven's bridge, =/\=We've also sent Lieutenant Commander Tamarov over to the El Salvador, a former El Sal crewmember and expert on her systems - hopefully he can tell us something, or repair the issue. Meanwhile, prepare to receive the newcomer vessels.=/\=
<Tag Raven>
"The two Alarodian capital ships amongst the ten newcomers are arming weapons," a controller warned, "They're bearing down directly on the Starbase, nine minutes away," a controller warned.
"Hail Tor'majar on the Alarodian ships already in system. Warn him that his inbound compatriot vessels will have the full weight of the Starbase's firepower brought to bear on them unless they break off immediately. We don't wish to take such action, but in self-defense we will act inexorably."

[El Salvador: Main Bridge]
The internal communications jury-rig setup through the Mini-Sal's systems to bypass whatever was ailing the El Salvador's computers was operational by the time Alexi Tamarov materialized via transporter beam on the bridge of his recent former assignment. Savot had received confirmation from Sickbay that their systems had been unimpeded and both Cadet Karysta and the moderately recuperated Commander Irae were on their way back to the bridge, and turned to greet the unexpected but not unwelcome arrival with a nod, "Mr. Tamarov, welcome back. I trust Starbase 47 ascertained our difficulty."
The being wearing Alexi's form gave a mid-grade smile, "We obviously noticed the communication cut-out. Detected your shields dropping but we weren't sure if that was another malfunction or a signal from you." Even as Alexi spoke, Savot still seated at Ops re-activated the El Salvador's shields now that they had received a messenger from SB 47. Now that their message had been understood, Savot's primary concern was containing the 2 prisoners they had retrieved. As though reading Savot's intentions, Alexi spoke up helpfully, "I read about the retrieval Op aboard the Halanan vessel; I'd be honored to step in again and do a shift guarding the prisoners so the guys doing the real work can catch some rest. I've had it easy compared to you all."
Savot raised an eyebrow, considering for a moment, but then dismissed the notion with a shake of his head, "Your offer is considerate, Lieutenant. However, as you are no longer official ship's company and Chief Zakryn possesses considerable stamina due to his training and Gorn biology, I believe the most logical and efficient use of your timely arrival is to send you back to the Starbase via the Enzio aboard their recovered shuttlecraft, wherein you can report to Section Admiral Gheskori that I will report to him personally upon restoration of our communications. When we dock I intend to keep the umbilical connections between the El Salvador and Starbase 47 offline so as to lessen the risk of spreading this vulnerability we've suffered to the base."
Outwardly nonplussed, Tamarov spared a moment to regret only having a Lieutenant-ranked identity to usurp, but had no room to argue with a captain's direct orders aboard his ship, to say nothing of a Commodore. "On my way, Captain." Savot nodded, and told Main Shuttlebay to make sure the Enzio's shuttle was cleared and prepped for launch. Timing served to have the rear bridge turbolift deposit Cadet Karysta and Commander Irae onto the bridge just in time for Tamarov to switch places with them and head to the El Salvador's shuttlebay.
The El Salvador shuddered, Savot confirming with the short range sensors that the Raven was giving them a nudge, "Raven urging us towards the Starbase so it can attempt ingress into the wormhole. Time is of the essence; Commander Irae if you are sufficiently recovered please assume the helm and pilot us into dock inside Starbase 47. Cadet, you may resume your station." Savot rose from Ops and headed back to the Captain's chair. Karysta and Deis took their seats towards the front of the bridge and set the El Salvador into motion.
=^=Enzio Shuttle to Bridge; Lieutenant Tamarov ready to depart=^=, Alexi commed from aboard the recovered shuttle. Savot pressed the control on the arm of his chair to respond, =^=Acknowledged, Lieutenant. You are cleared for takeoff upon our clearing the Starbase 47 space doors. Please use your shuttle's comms system to hail the station and request opening of the doors on our behalf as our external communications are still impaired. Bridge out.=^=
Tamarov was efficient and within seconds the space doors nearest the El Salvador's current position were opened for their entry. Savot nodded towards the viewscreen unnecessarily, "Commander Irae; take us into dock with all possible alacrity. ETA to Starbase 47 wormhole entry is 6.37 minutes. Cadet Karysta, blink our running lights facing the Raven to signal a 'Thank You' in morse code." With that, the El Salvador made her way into dock, Tamarov departing in the Enzio's shuttlecraft as soon as they'd gotten fully inside the space doors, and piloting for the Enzio's primary shuttle bay to land and report in, then transport back to the SB operations center to hand Savot's physical report in to SA Gheskori upon a datapad.

.. 00:06:38 .. .. 00:06:37 .. .. 00:06:36 .. "Sir, El Salvador is moving under her own power..." Lysia T'Seng said, "... Her shields have been restored." Carl watched as the Excalibur Class Starship began to move away, rotating through one hundred ten degrees to align herself with the closest of the three sets of space doors. He was about to instruct Commander Marionette to close the distance between them and the Starbase when T'Seng informed him that one of the Alarodian vessels were moving towards them ..... "Comms, contact the Alarodian, ask them why they are approaching us," Blakus ordered as they continued to watch El Salvador. "No response Admiral," "They are arming weapons!" T'Seng warned. "Helm, bring us about, lock phasers on that ship... Comms, warn them to come about, put the Alarodian vessel onscreen," They watched as the ship turned in their direction, clearly attempting to bypass the Raven in favour of establishing a direct line of sight to El Salvador. The Gynoid, anticipating Torek had begun to move the Raven between the oncoming vessel and their ship. Carl wondered: Had they changed their minds on allowing passage, if so why not simply communicate their decision? he ordered a Comm opened: =^= Oncoming vessel .. State your intentions immediately =^= =^= Oncoming vessel .. Change your course immediately or I will have no option but to disable your vessel =^= he looked at the chronometer over the viewscreen: .. 00:03:16 .. It would take the Raven almost all of that time to manoeuvre into the dome and secure herself at one of the open Docks before the Starbase passed the wormholes' event horizon, he had no time to waste! "Where is El Sal' now?" Blakus asked. "Inside the Dome, Commander, she should be docking now" Lysia confirmed. "We can't sit here and wait for them, Commander T'Seng, target the oncoming Alarodian vessels' engines and fire," Torek ordered. Two beams of almost pure energy lanced from Raven's saucer section and slammed into the Alarodian drive, it instantly began to tumble end over end. In any other circumstances, Torek might have offered aid to the stricken vessel, but time was up. "Marionette, get us inside the dome with all alacrity," The Raven yawed to Starboard, almost inverting herself as the ship turned... On-screen, the massive Starbase came into view so fast several on the Bridge flinched, the Raven dropped towards a solid section of the dome, still rotating until when it appeared they were about to make their own entrance, the open section came into view. Raven pitched forward, now almost vertical to the galactic plane as her headlong dive continued. Carl couldn't help but increase the pressure he was exerting on the arms of his chair as the Navigation Officer made more adjustments. Thrusters activated as the six hundred eighty-five meter vessel passed the threshold of the doors. The Raven seemed to be moving headlong into a catastrophic collision, seemingly too late, the ship began to roll to yaw and turn. Carl inched back in his chair as the Raven came to a complete stop less than fifteen meters from the domes panoramic observation windows ..... For a long moment, no one appeared to breathe, all eyes on the viewscreen and the two transfixed technicians the other side of the glass. Carl looked at the time: .. 00:00:16 .. .. 00:00:15 .. .. 00:00:14 .. "Sir, I must inform you that we do not have time to perform docking manoeuvers, I have orientated the Raven along our path of travel." "RED ALERT! .... Activate all emergency bulkheads!" he smacked the Commlink on the arm of his chair: =^= All crew .. Brace yourselves .. We are entering the wormhole .. .. =^= "I'm activating fore and aft tractors to try to hold us in position..." Blakus said from one of the vacant stations, "... We might pull the dock apart in the process but hey-ho," the image on the viewscreen seemed to shudder for a second, then once again. The four-kilometre long Starbase, now lay on her side, was entering the wormhole! The domes lighting failed, emergency lighting activating almost instantly. In the dim lighting, the Raven began to feel the effects of the transit, the tractor beams straining to keep her stable but fighting a losing battle. With each shudder, the ship moved closer to the panoramic windows separating the vacuum of the dock from the interior of the Starbase dome levels. Blakus was working feverishly to compensate, trying to balance the Sovereign Class Raven on two pinpoints of energy ..... Carl thought about his family, in their quarters, undoubtedly frightened, but he couldn't leave the Bridge to comfort them at this moment in time, he hoped they were alright. Suddenly, the Bridge lighting flickered: "We're losing power," Harry Wedlerson stated. "Has to be an effect of entering into the wormhole, shut down all non-essential systems," Torek ordered, Wedlerson nodded and turned back to his console. "SIR!" Lysia said, pointing at the viewscreen. A workerbee shuttle had broken loose and was drifting towards the Raven, they watched as the tiny craft closed the distance before slamming into the Portside of the saucer, careening away towards the inner hull of the Dome. Carl knew the damage would be minimal, easily repaired once they had completed the passage through the Einstein–Rosen bridge, but he couldn't help say a silent 'Thank you' as the shuttles' engines retained integrity, had it exploded on impact, it would have taken most of the saucer, and those seeking sanctuary within, with it! The ship shuddered again, and again ..........

Gheskori had watched the viewscreen as it displayed the incoming Alarodian ships, ten brown specks spread over several hundred kilometres, dropping out of warp and heading severally towards the Starbase and two Federation ships still outside. Three each peeled off in the direction of the Raven and El Salvador, the three heading for El Sal changing course for the Starbase - as the Excalibur class docked - and joining their two sister ships and two capital ships of great displacement.
The next few minutes passed in a blur as the Raven engaged in a short fight with one of the smaller Alarodian ships. Longer-range sensors showed that Tor'majar's ships had engaged with the Ireuken Confederacy as the latter tried to block him from reaching the Starbase and completing a pincer movement. Seven ships closed to within 250 kilometres of the Starbase.
"The two Alarodian capital ships are firing torpedoes at us..." the sensor controller kept his voice measured over the Ops intercom, "940 of them. Each." On the screen, a greyish cloud filled what'd previously been a view of the inbound flotilla.
"They won't catch us once we enter the wormhole," an officer replied.
First they had to get there. They were receiving a comm, Ghes stood back and let the Ops staff follow the various procedures; a visual comm was opened and the Ireuken flagship's bridge appeared, Tor'ng on the screen, "We'll give you time, Federation," he smiled, "I will delay my wayward son," he referred to Tor'majar on Commissioner Saspari's vessel, "I believe you say, godspeed." He and Ghes nodded to one another, the Ireuken closing the channel.
The Raven began docking, entering the Dome but heading straight for the observation windows and seemingly not able to arrest their momentum. "We have 20 seconds 'til entry," a controller reported over the internal comm, "14 minutes are required to get far enough across the Einstein-Rosen bridge to avoid any ill effects should the Alarodians try to collapse it."
"We've entered the wormhole."
Gheskori spent the next couple minutes watching the viewscreen mesmerised as the controllers went about their duties, the expressions of alarm, muted as they had to be if they were all to get through this - remaining calm was a necessity - at the Raven's situation fell into the background for a moment as the cerulean, mauve, maroon of the wormhole's interior swept about them like a fabulous cloak. Feeling a trance being induced, he broke away and looked to Ops' interior, shaking his head to loosen the whirlpool image.
"Section Admiral." He turned at the unnerving voice - and relaxed, it was Lieutenant Tamarov. He asked about the man's sojourn aboard the El Salvador. "Commodore Savot's report, sir," Tamarov handed him the PADD, "I returned via the Enzio, your shuttle is back aboard her."
"Yes, we saw the shuttle depart your old vessel when she entered the Dome," Ghes said, his attention still drawn by the viewscreen and the activity all about him, he read some of the PADD, "This is excellent, Lieutenant. We'll solve the mystery of what's affected the El Salvador's computers. Carry on." Tamarov nodded, Ghes not noticing the shifting eyes as the lieutenant took to his former station.
The base shook, causing those watching the plight of the Raven to work their consoles yet more frantically to help keep the Sovereign vessel stabilised. "Activating three more tractor beams, two for the Raven stardrive, one for the saucer."
"What was that?" Ghes asked his aide Barton who requested an update on the vibration. The news was returned to him that something in the base's impulse exhaust was reacting with the rare elements of the wormhole which the Ireuken had been attempting to harvest.
"The reaction has caused damage. Shields in quadrants 1 and 4 are down to 86 and 84 percent respectively," a console operator on the lower deck called over the Ops intercom.
"Redistribute shield energy evenly in those sections. Divert power from weapons systems and environmental control in uninhabited sections."
"Recommend we advise the Raven to power up their impulse engines at a low level along our flight vector, that should relieve stress on both set of tractor beams stabilising the vessel, and keep it away from the observation deck - like relieving tension on an elastic band," Commander Sasha Gordon at the auxiliary engineering station suggested. "Any backwash from the exhaust can be dissipated by EM dampening fields and by aiming it off the plane - as long as we exert a force into the Dome and away from the edge."
Aide Barton glanced at Gheskori who could only agree, Sasha was the expert in such matters. "Execute," Barton said, and Gordon contacted the Raven. One console operator informed them an emergency docking pylon had torn itself free and was approaching the Raven. "Now, Commander!" Barton virtually roared, "If the Raven receives only a glancing blow it'll make all the difference."
The Starbase had passed the point where damage could still be done by anyone trying to collapse the wormhole at the Circinus end. Even if the Alarodians or Halanan had closed the gravimetric distortion at their end, the Starfleeters would still be able to transit to the other side. Ghes began to believe they may soon be in the Beta quadrant, that moment which would never seem to arrive, which had always seemed impossible, beyond their reach. What if their best wasn't enough? he'd asked himself many times. But now the sense of near completion was supremely satisfying. He collapsed backwards, grateful for the centre deck's rail - despite slumping he felt a little taller.
Little did he or any of them realise that a small part of the leading edge of the Dome was now torn away clinically by contact with the 'tunnel wall' of the wormhole, vanishing out of reality upon incidence with the boundaries of spacetime itself - 32 people had ceased to exist in that moment. From the very start the wormhole had been recognised to be only just large enough for the base, and any pointing off-axis by even the slightest of margins could cause serious damage. Not until they were through the other side and contacting the Yattho who joined them in hailing the nearest Federation ships and facilities did they learn what'd happened to the 100 metre section of the edge of the Dome.
It took nearly five hours for the Starbase to make it through relatively unscathed (although shield strength - due to the impulse engines' interaction with the wormhole's matter - had been depleted to 40 to 50 percent across all facings).
"Approaching threshold, scanning constellations... computer is recognising Beta quadrant stars and star systems. We'll exit 2.4 parsecs distant from the Yattho system... The wormhole is closing behind us; we're just over a minute from the exit point."
"Hurry!" Gheskori called out involuntarily.
"The Starbase is hurrying, sir," the officer responded, trying not to laugh, more out of relief than due to anything Ghes had said. "We will make it. Preparing for evasive to avoid the asteroid the Dauntless hulk impacted. No collision is possible, trajectory is nominal."
Lemond entered the command centre from her office and Matt Reynolds returned to Ops from his dockmaster overseer role. The three admirals convened in the centre of the amphitheatre and shook hands, turning to the viewscreen and smiling, though with a measure of concern for the Raven, "Contact our vessels," Lemond said, "On screen."
The panoramic screen split six ways to show the bridges of the Enzio, Raven, El Salvador, El Alamein, Maracanda and Oxford, causing a muted cheer through Ops and other centres of the base. As the COs answered the hail the Starbase crossed the threshold, the wormhole already shutting down behind them (perhaps for a long time as the vengeful Saspari and Tor'majar and their Alarodian fleet fired on the phenomenon to attempt to trap the base halfway towards home). The tunnel's colours diminished sequentially along its length as the lights went out on the Circinus stage.
As the comm with the six ships continued, Ghes spoke to the console operators, "Contact the Yattho, greet the avian leader and allay any surprise. Scan for nearest Federation starships and prepare a comm for Beta quadrant centre Starbase 234."
OOC: Congratulations everybody. People can post their own perspectives on the transit if like. We'll continue in this thread for a while as we make contact with Starfleet and they make their way to us with a welcoming party.

The ship shuddered again, and again .......... Gradually, Marionette was able to stabilise the ship. "Sir, I require thruster control," the Gynoid said. Carl gave her the access and sat watching the viewscreen and the Starbase interior beyond: Carl sat, almost mesmerised, as the image on the screen changed slightly every few seconds, only to return to its previous position. He knew that the Starbase was under immense pressures, moving in all directions, he likened it, much simplified, to a red ball within a box, both falling constantly, it wasn't required that the ball be red, any colour would suffice, he just chose red... The box was subject to external influences: gravitational forces could affect the rate the box dropped, as could air density. Wind from any direction could force the box off its intended trajectory, only for it to return once more if allowed. Should the ball wish to avoid impact with the internal surfaces of the box, it had to exert its own influence to counteract the pressures forced upon its container.
The box, the dome of Starbase Forty-Seven, the red ball, the USS Raven-C within.
Five minutes past, then ten, fifteen... Every second, Marionette, completely immobile apart from her fingers caressing the thruster controls, made minute adjustments to one or more thrusters to keep the ship stationary relative to the movement of the Starbase beyond. Had her actions not been so crucial, he could almost call the ballet hypnotic... He watched as the panoramic windows of the Dock began to move away, the Starbase was experiencing lateral movement, Marionette again compensated, inching the massive Starship forward. This time though, she was forced to maintain thrust to hold position. "Sir, I believe the Starbase thrusters have activated," the Gynoid informed Torek. Again Carl could only sit and watch, he risked a look around the Bridge, seeing everyone as nervous as he himself. The Comms console was lit up like the proverbial 'Christmas Tree' as calls came in from throughout the ship, silently he hoped no one was too seriously injured, or that any of those calls were coming from his own quarters ..... Now working hard to hold station, Marionette seemed to relax, she didn't of course, it was just his imagination at her continued success, then the view beyond the ship changed once again, this time it was as if the image was 'rolling' anticlockwise on the screen. Again the Gynoid made adjustments, finding time to turn to face Carl, Andae, and Calli, everyone but the Navigation Officer witnessed the mangled wreck that was once a workerbee shuttle flash past the viewscreen: "I believe we have completed our transit. The Starbase appears to be reorientating itself to the standard configuration of ten degrees off vertical." "Can we access external view?" Calli asked, trying not to appear too overexcited. "Our link with the Starbase has been severed," Marionette replied by way of cryptic explanation before continuing her task. Ten 'long' minutes later she lifted her hands from the console and turned: "My sensors indicate the Starbase is at a complete stop relative to surroundings. I believe the Starbase has suffered significant damage but this will require confirmation. The wormhole, now two point eight million kilometres distant, appears to have suffered collapse during our transit," "Thank you, Commander," Carl said, releasing a sigh of relief. "We're through," Calli whispered, everyone on the Bridge applauded before returning to their consoles. "Harry, cancel red alert, restore all emergency bulkheads, contact Sickbay, tell them to expect casualties. Andae, would you see to docking procedures, I'm going to go to my quarters to check on my family," he stood, his Exec' doing likewise, Andae held out a hand, which Carl took happily, Calli stood and despite protocol put her arms around her half brother and squeezed so hard it almost cut off the blood supply. He could feel her body shaking as she silently sobbed so he remained still, his arms around her until she felt able to let go. With a warm smile, he kissed her on the cheek, with a respectful nod to his Senior Staff he left the Bridge... In the turbo-lift he fought hard to keep a hold on his emotions, that changed as the door to his quarters opened: Elise, her arms around Bethan and Vanessa, was wrapped in the old tartan picnic blanket they had had for years, the girls practically shot from the settee, throwing themselves into his arms, while Elise, allowing the girls their moment, stood and waited, her eyes locked on Carls. He inched into the room and his daughter's finally released him. Elise walked towards him, tears in her eyes and her arms wrapped around him as if they would never again be released ..........

United Federation of Planets Headquarters. Earth Stardate: 2406.04.0713 - 16:30 hrs
Federation Presidents Office The Efrosian President, Ra-ghorennii, thanked the Council Members ..... It had been a long meeting, reviewing numerous issues, but thankfully everyone seemed satisfied with the decisions made. As the Delegates filed out, Captain Noaht Kep, the President's Risien Aide-de-Camp entered. He nodded to the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Section Admiral Efal Krist, who was stood at the cabinets pouring himself a large whiskey:
"Noah, let's make sure the Grazerite delegate leaves the surface without too much trouble shall we..." Krist said as he was handed a PADD, "... What's this?"
"We received it a few hours ago, it's data, fragmented, from a Ruwan Freighter... It had passed through Yattho Space in the Beta Quadrant, en-route to the Antede Star System when it's long-range sensors picked up a massive disturbance..." the Aide transferred the information to the large wall-mounted viewscreen and continued, "... They believe it was the remnants of a collapsing wormhole,"
"A wormhole collapse wouldn't cause this damage," Krist commented.
"Under normal circumstances, no Admiral, but the Ruwan Captain picked up emissions on a quantum level, or so he believes, gravitational flux has made it almost impossible to get any better information at present, but it certainly wasn't you're 'run of the mill' wormhole collapse, that's for sure,"
"It is close to the border with the Alpha Quadrant?"
"Yes, Mister President, close to the Yattho Star System which is on the furthermost reaches of the Klingon Empire," the Aide confirmed.
"Well, even the Klingon's don't bother with that region of space, the Yattho keep to themselves, so it normally wouldn't attract our attention. These images were taken from the Pascal Deep Range Array..." Kep said, changing the images, "... They are no better than the others, but they 'do' show something, here, and here....." he pointed to two distinct 'blurs' on the screen.
"..... and they are?" the Sector Admiral asked refilling his glass.
"Hard to tell, but one could be a moon or small planetary body, it looks to be comparable to Earths Moon, slightly larger possibly, but we can't confirm that at this point. The second could be something that sheered off the moon, it's possible that the body came through the wormhole, practically destroying itself in the process, or maybe it was here when the wormhole collapsed and was devastated by the resulting emissions?"
"Do we have any vessels in that area?" Ra-ghorennii asked. the Risian Aide checked Starship deployment then nodded:
"The Science Vessel, USS James Clark Maxwell is in the Antede Star System, approximately forty light-years away,"
"Have them contacted, ask them to divert and carry out scans of the region, but instil on them that they must not venture too close, the last thing we need is the Klingon's going em-masse into the region," the President ordered.
"The Yattho, didn't they petition for Federation membership independent of the Klingons?" Krist asked.
"Yes Sir, their application is still under review, apparently, the Klingon's are none too happy at one of their 'fold' wanting independence. They have objected to the petition every time it's come to the Council,"
"Very well..." Ra-ghorennii commented, rising from his seat behind the ornate desk, "Please keep me, informed Captain. Now, if there is nothing else, I do believe my wife is expecting me, we are having, guests," Krist and Noaht left the office, the President contacted his home to say he was on his way home ..........
