After the meeting, Parsons was back in his office, looking over a PADD with the Memorial Service for the Scavenger and her lost crew. The Acting Captain would say a few words, Admiral Lin had been invited to speak, and the floor would be open to any of the crew that wanted to speak.
Parsons walked in as the reception portion of the memorial was beginning. The event was being held in a large holodeck, so as to accommodate as many of the Scavenger crew as wished to come. The forum was a reception hall. Tables were located at one end of the room with refreshments.
Adam wondered over to one of the refreshment tables while glancing at the PADD he carried containing his brief memorial remarks. The hall had not filled yet, but several of the crew had arrived and were milling around sharing stories of the Scavenger. At the far end of the hall was a stage with a large holographic representation of the Scavenger in the background.
Adam took a cup of punch and sipped it as he read over his remarks.

Tras spotted the captain near the food table when he first entered the hall. He had debated not attending the memorial, but as he too was a past commanding officer, he couldn't stay away. The old ship had an odd pull on him, it was the first place he really started to consider home in a long time. With its destruction, Tras felt as though he was stripped of his home and it made him feel miserable.
Now, he was also stripped from his command of the South Caroline, with command being handed over to acting captain Parsons, and again Tras wondered if Starfleet was trying to drive a certain point home. Twice now, they had made him a captain, and twice also they had stripped him of that same rank, without decent reasons given. He had, of course, known that the last command had been temporary but still, it made him wonder if perhaps he wasn't destined for a career in Starfleet after all.
"Captain," he started, as he approached Parsons, "you wished to speak to me?" At Parson's nod, Tras followed him to the side of the room. "First of all I wish you to know that I accept your offer on taking the conn. The South Carolina is my home now, and I'm not yet ready to move elsewhere. If you'll have my services I'd gladly offer them." He paused. "Don't be too hard on Commander Pride, he was only trying to look out for me, however unnecessarily."

Walking into the Memorial he saw the ship, the scavenger just like he remembered her. He noticed Commander Tras talking to there acting Captain. He knew the captain wanted to talk to them so he headed over to the corner.
" I hope I"m not interrupting anything, you did a good job Commander Parsons. She will be missed, there will not be another ship quite like her for a long time I think. But that doesn't mean we can't make the new ship better then she was. So what are we talking about if I may ask"

Katie and Paikea walked hand in hand on their way to the briefing that Commander Parson had set up. Nothing seemed more important than this moment for Katie, she felt whole again and she sure hoped Paikea did also. It wasn’t until she happened across a clock on the far wall that reality set in. They were late!
Katie’s eyes shot open and she began to run down the hallway. She thought she heard herself say something to Paikea about being really late to the meeting but that must’ve just been in her mind. Instead she took off running like a cheetah and was pulling Paikea behind her.
“Wait a sec would ya?” Paikea shouted.
“No we can’t we’ll be late!” Katie shouted back.
She didn’t care people were looking. She was in a hurry and no matter what funny looks or comments the people in the hallway had to say she wasn’t stopping for anybody. Well almost anybody. Katie felt her body jerk back by a much more powerful fore than hers. Her body whipped back but at the same time she was spun back into Paikea. If she hadn’t know any better she would’ve felt as if she was on a dance floor. The execution of the spin was flawless as settled right back into Paikea’s arms.
“What are you doing we have to get going.” Katie said at a rapid fire pace.
“Calm down.” Paikea replied.
“But-” Katie started.
Paikea pressed his pointer finger gently onto Katie’s lips. It silenced her in seconds. She always hated when he did that but she never put up a fight when he did. She stood there looking into his eyes and waiting for him to say something.

OOC: I'm sure some have noticed that Katie and myself are still posting before the meeting that Commander Parsons gave. We are just adding back story for our characters and haven't forgotten the mission at all. We'll catch up to you guys soon enough don't worry IC: His first reaction like Katie was to run towards the conference room where everyone should already be waiting. He knew that Commander Parson's would not be pleased, but Paikea had not been thinking about his duties. For the first time in over a year, Paikea and Katie were acting like a couple again. It was a great feeling, one that Pai would make sure would last. “Calm down.” Paikea replied. “But-” Katie started.Paikea pressed his pointer finger gently onto Katie’s lips. It silenced her in seconds and allowed Paikea to think up a plan that would get them there quickly. "Don't worry," Paikea said as he looked around for a console. When he saw one he took Katie's hand and led them there. "Lily, please transport myself and Lt. Anderson outside Conference Room 2." (Katie)They did not have to wait long for the transport to take place. The next thing he knew he was outside the conference room, getting himself a bit more presentable. "See I told you, I would come up with something," Paikea said as he smiled at Katie. He so badly wanted to grab her hand and walk into the conference room together, but he wasn't going to rush her into anything. (Katie)"Alright, we're both here, we look decent, no body parts missing. I think we're ready to go in," Paikea said as he walked towards the door and walked in. (Katie)"Commander Pride, please don't refer to me as if I'm not here." He was annoyed that his friend took the liberty of publicly referring to a disability well kept secret so far. "I've managed to do my job on any position so far, I don't need special treatment or special arrangements."Paikea had honestly expected a scolding by Captain Drago and Commander Parsons, but he immediately realized that the captain was not present. "Where is the Captain?" Paikea asked looking really apologetic. "Nice of you to join us, Commander, Lieutenant," Parsons said as he looked at the two. Commander Parsons went on to explain the situation regarding Captain Drago and then turned his attention back to Pride. "I wonder where he went?" Paikea whispered to Katie. He hadn't heard anything, maybe she had. (Katie)The meeting was already on its last legs when they had both arrived and now Parsons had dismissed them without mentioning their lack of uniforms or their tardiness. He was worried about his commanding officer, but he knew that Drago had qualifications that no other captain in Starfleet had. Parsons would be a suitable replacement. "Didn't I tell you we weren't going to be in trouble," Paikea said as he grabbed Katie's hand," I bet you doubted me." (Katie)"I'm going to suggest that we both change now, the memorial service is going to start soon," Paikea said a bit more somber than before. It was still hard to think about the Scavenger, but with Katie here it would be a lot easier. (Katie)

Parsons noticed Commander Tras enter the hall and approach him. "Captain," he started, "you wished to speak to me?" At Parson's nod, Tras followed him to the side of the room.
Parsons nodded, "I'm happy to hear you'll be staying aboard. I am sure you will serve us well at the helm. As for Commander Pride, I gathered that he had your best interest at heart. We spoke briefly about the incident, but I consider the matter closed. Will you be saying a few words at the service today?"
<TAG Tras>
As Commander Tras finished answering, Commander Pride joined the two officers in their relatively quiet corner of the hall. The room was filling now and the buzz of conversation had grown. "I hope I"m not interrupting anything, you did a good job Commander Parsons. She will be missed, there will not be another ship quite like her for a long time I think. But that doesn't mean we can't make the new ship better then she was. So what are we talking about if I may ask"
"Quite right, Desert. The good commander was just informing me that he has accepted our invitation to stay on as our Chief Conn Officer. Are you planning on addressing the crew this evening Mr. Pride?"

"Didn't I tell you we weren't going to be in trouble," Paikea said as he grabbed Katie's hand," I bet you doubted me."
“Yeah you did.” Katie said.
"I'm going to suggest that we both change now, the memorial service is going to start soon," Paikea said a bit more somber than before. It was still hard to think about the Scavenger, but with Katie here it would be a lot easier.
“That’s a good idea.” Katie replied.
Although she wanted to walk with Paikea she was a change in his attitude. He wasn’t the fun loving and free spirited man that he was just a few minutes ago. He was more sullen now, his eyes looked tired and they seemed to water when he mentioned the Scavenger. Katie knew it was for the best that Paikea grieve alone, because there was no way she could relate to his level of sorrow.
“I’ll just meet you there.” Katie whispered into his ear.
Katie walked out without looking behind her. She continued on and hoped that Paikea wouldn’t chase her down. It wasn’t that she wasn’t sensitive to his feelings but she needed to be alone in her thoughts. This mission of hers was going to be harder than she thought.
Don’t get to close. A voice resonated with in her head.
Katie started to have serious doubts in her choice to take on this mission. Even though she lived with these people for sometime, it wasn’t long enough to really establish a loving friendship, or really think of the Scavenger as home. For Katie Earth was home and the Scavenger was just a ship she was apart of.
Walking into her quarters Katie flicked on the lights. Her front room was just as she had left it. She tiptoed around her room so she wouldn’t disturb the subtle instruments she had place in her room to warn her of invasion. Once over to the wall monitor she turned off the silent alarms that she knew had probably been activated by her presence, even with her tiptoeing.
“Computer, messages?” Katie asked.
“You how no new messages.” The Computer responded.
Katie fell onto her couch. She let her soggy shoes slip from her hands and fall to the floor. Katie didn’t know why she was feeling so drained but being in her own place and lying on her bed was the most comfortable thing she had done in hours.
“Now this is the good life.” Katie said out loud.
In the back of the room a new message beeped on the wall monitor. Grudgingly Katie pulled herself up from her comfortable position on the couch to check the new message. It was exactly what she thought it was going to be, a reminder of the Scavengers memorial service.
“Delete please.” Katie said.
Katie sulked back to the couch but before she made a second flop she ran her hands through her hair and that’s when she was reminded of the liquid Paikea and spilt on her. She scrunched her face because her hair felt sticky and gross. Paikea’s large shirt was covering the stains on her shirt, and she could feel her tights sticking to her ankles and the bottom of her feet from where the liquid had run down into her shoes. Katie suddenly needed a shower, stat!
Katie walked out of her quarters feeling fresh. Her hair was no longer sticky and smelling of too much caffeine, and best of all her shoes weren’t soggy from Paikea’s choice energy drink. She walked as if on air through the hallways, all without the distinct squishing sound she had been getting earlier.
Her heart began to race as she neared the hall where the memorial services were going to be. Katie stopped just a few feet from the door and waited so she could gain her nerve. She felt like an outsider now. She wasn’t there and couldn’t share the experience with the others, but she promised Paikea that she would be there for him despite how uncomfortable it made her feel.

Tras hesitated. He had commanded the Scavenger for the duration of one mission, then had been removed from that command. He didn't feel he had served on the late ship long enough to speak about it, but he didn't want to let the few friends he had among this crew down either. "I'll try," he promised, having the feeling it wasn't all Parsons had wanted to talk to him about.
"Was that all?" he asked. When Parsons didn't immediately answer, Tras picked up his drink and quietly drank it down. A woman entered the room, looking uncertain. "Please escuse me," he told Parsons and Pride, leaving the two men to discuss their business while he walked up to the newcomer.
"I don't think we've properly been introduced," he said softly, nodding politely towards the woman. "I'm Commander Joseph Tras. Katie Anderson, isn't it?"
He nodded towards the holographic image of the Scavenger. "Sad, isn't it? It's always sad to lose a ship, especially when you just started to think of it as home."

Kirk roamed the decks of the Carolina after dropping off his and Tras’ findings; he vowed to avoid Klingon ships for some time after that last mission. He also decided it might be a good idea to avoid Tras for some time also. He found his need of constant conversation rather distracting, but Kirk thought it would be best to keep that to himself for the time being.
The Carolina was not the Tiger-Shark, not by a long shot. It felt cheap and above all weak. Kirk guessed that it was because he had spent a few years on an Akira Class ship that anything less than an Akira did not impress him.
Walking into the nearest turbo Kirk ordered it down to Main Engineering. The lift began to move just as he finished speaking his words, It may be wear, Kirk thought, but at least it was efficient.
Main Engineering was not at all what Kirk was expecting. He had envisioned a cramp engine room but this engine room, as with all Federation engine rooms, was wide open. The term airy came to mind. The only thing she shipped seemed to be missing was engineers. Normally he expected the ship to be alive with men and woman scurrying about trying to make the shake down deadline, but today it looked like an old Earth ghost town. The engine room was nearly empty, besides himself the only other living beings in the engine room were two other enlisted engineers. They worked tirelessly to accomplish the work that their officers should have been doing.
Kirk decided to approach these two men, “Sir?” They asked.
“Where is everybody else?”
“What do you mean sir?” Asked the closer of the two engineers.
“Where are the rest of the engineers?”
“Most of them are off duty today, mainly because of the memorial.”
“What memorial?” Kirk asked.
“What ship are you from sir?” Asked the second engineer.
“The Tiger-Shark.” Kirk stated proudly.
Both engineers looked at each other with a confused look on their faces. They could not understand what the Tiger-Shark’s former OPS officer was doing down in the bowels of the South Carolina.
“With all due respect sir, what are you doing down here?”
The question was almost a slap in the face. He held his tongue so he could seriously answer the question in a intelligent manner, “My apologies for the confusion,” Kirk started, “I’m the Scavenger’s new Chief Engineer.”
“Then why aren’t you at the memorial?” Asked the first engineer. He was still confused.
“Whose memorial is it?” Kirk finally asked after a moment of complete silence.
“The USS Scavengers.” Said the first engineer in a slow and embarrassed tone.
Kirk would have felt stupid if he was 100% human; he had the Borg to thank for his lack of embarrassment over the situation, “I am here to over see the shake down. Do you require more information?” Kirk said in a commanding tone.
”No sir.” They said in near unison.
“Good,” Kirk said feeling better now that he had control of the situation, “I expect progress reports every hour.”
“Aye sir.”
With that Kirk moved over to a nearby console to start his workday. He knew there was a lot to do before the Carolina was to shove off and he was going to make sure it was done.
The truth was that he was aware of the memorial for the Scavenger but he knew he was not going to go. Captain Drago has requested him as his new Chief Engineer and the last thing Kirk was going to do was see Drago when he did not need to. His personal time was his personal time and the last thing he remembered he had never been ordered to go to the memorial; Work was more important than tears.

The memorial was already underway by the time Paikea had arrived. It had taken him some time to deal with his personal feelings towards the loss of the Scavenger. He knew that once this memorial service was over this chapter in his life would be over. He didn't know if he was ready to give up just yet. Not wanting to disappoint his friends already there, Paikea entered the memorial service.
He listened attentively to the crewmen who were sharing their experiences aboard the Scavenger and he couldn't help but smile as he also remembered those events. Paikea had already told his friends that he would not be speaking for fear of breaking down. As he looked around he saw that everyone had arrived already and he immediately began looking for Katie.
"Commander, its glad that you could join us," Zach said as he walked up to his him.
"Zach, I already told you to not call me Commander, we've worked together for years," Paikea said with a sigh," it's Paikea."
"Alright, would you please join us after the memorial service?" Zach asked," the science department will have a little gathering after."
"Of course," Paikea said glad that the comradeship between his department was still thriving.
"See you later then, Paikea," Zach said once again joining his friends. Not wanting to interrupt the conversation Katie was having with Tras, Paikea took a glass and began to drink.

Illito was unequivocally happy for Pride for his position as Acting FO. She was biased, admittedly, but she thought he was an excellent choice.
Although she had been planning to go to the memorial service, things kept adding up to her running late. Still, eventually she forced herself to set down her PADD and walk out of sickbay. Some things were more important than work.
Illito arrived, silently adding her presence to those who had arrived on time to the gathering in the holodeck. She avoided meeting Pride's eyes, as she didn't particularly feel like talking just now, not even to him. She didn't really have anything she could add, and was content to just listen to other people talk about the ship they had all called home.

Looking at Commander Parsons, " Yes sir I'll say something or at least try"
He watched as Commander Tras walked off to talk to Katie and saw Illito enter. She smile at him but could tell he wasn't really happy. He wanted to go talk to her but figured she might need some time to herself. He didn't want to force himself on her and force her to talk, things take time and thats what it was going to take time.
Looking back at Commander Parsons " If you will allow me sir I'll go up there and say my peace now"
He walked up to the stage after the last person was finished, what do I say. Then he remembered what his mother told him speak from the heart and the Truth will be in your words.
" I wasn't on the scavenger when she was lost, do I wish I was there when it happened. No I don't because then I would be lying. I wish that we had never lost our ship our homes, I would love to wake up tomorrow in my quarters on the scavenger and find out its just a dream. That wont happen tho, she's gone and nothing we do will bring her back or the friends that we lost."
" What I do know is that as long as we believe in the spirit of the ship she will live on in our hearts. We can't bring her back but we can make sure she lives on in what ever ship we get. That what ever ship we get follows in the foot steps of the scavenger and lives up to legend. By doing this then she will live on in us and our new home"
Walking off the stage he felt like he hadn't said enough but he didn't want to pretend. He didn't know what the crew was going through and didn't want to insult them by pretending. He looked over at Illito and wonder what she was thinking.

Katie was standing alone in the back of the room looking at the mourners. She felt like such the outsider that it tore her up inside. Katie recognized faces but she couldn’t put names to those faces. The only person she really knew was Paikea and he was nowhere to be seen. Just when Katie was about to leave another unfamiliar face approached her.
"I don't think we've properly been introduced," he said softly, nodding politely towards the woman. "I'm Commander Joseph Tras. Katie Anderson, isn't it?"
“Yes it is.” Katie replied.
He nodded towards the holographic image of the Scavenger. "Sad, isn't it? It's always sad to lose a ship, especially when you just started to think of it as home."
“Yeah I guess you’re right.” Katie said trying to sound as mournful as the others.
She really didn’t know why she was pretending to be sad. There wasn’t any shame in her situation, and she guessed there were probably one or two others who were in her same shoes.
Katie’s eyes danced around the room looking for somebody she knew. She felt overly uncomfortable talking to somebody she didn’t know about a topic she couldn’t relate to completely. Despite her best efforts she couldn’t spot anybody so she had to make the best of it.
“So, Commander how long were you on the Scavenger?” Katie asked.
She felt her cheeks blush from embarrassment. How stupid of a question to ask at a time like this. She wanted to scold herself but she knew there weren’t really any other icebreakers at this point.

Tras looked away, refusing to meet her eyes as he pondered the question. "Not nearly long enough," he finally answered. "A few months at best," he continued after a brief silence, "and I didn't manage to hold on to my command either. Scavenger was my home, but I didn't quite feel at home, if you get my meaning."
This time, he did meet her eyes. "How about you? I noticed you and Commander Apirana seem to spend a lot of time together. Were you both there when Scavenger was destroyed? I just missed her when she left port the final time, which I suppose was just my luck because I was ordered to take the South Carolina and search for survivors. Commander Pride graceously offered his services."
Joseph Tras nodded over to Pride, who stood still talking with Parsons. "Walk with me," he finally asked Anderson, offering her his arm in a very gentlemanly fashion, "we'll go pay our respects to those who did die in the destruction, and then we'll say goodbye to the old ship herself." He gestured to the hologram of the Scavenger, and the small shrine that was set up for those who had died during that mission. "How do you feel about getting a new ship? Any class preferences? Personally, I quite like this Nova but she's not much of a battleship. I think I'd like an Akira but it really is up to command to give us a ship and choose don't you think?"

Daya had thought about going to the memorial of the Scavenger, but since he was not an actuall member of the ship, he decided against it. As everyone else had gone, he was now alone wondering the halls of the South Carolina. He still had yet to actually get a chance to sit and talk with his long time friend Kirk, and hoped he might run into him while walking around. However after a few minutes he quickly got bored and figured he would just pop into engineering to say hello.
When he entered he looked around, he was always amazed at the design and amount of room in an engine room, but had spent very little time in one himself. Looking around he saw two engineers working hard to finish up some sort of project, and then saw Kirk in the back ground, being alone and himself. Walking over to him, Daya stopped short and looked him over. "hmm...." Daya stood for a moment before Kirk spoke up. "What is it commander?" Daya looked around for a moment, before stepping to Kirk's side. "Well, ya know, its been oh...i dont know a few years since we did anything, so i thought i would come down and say hello"

"I'll try," was Tras' answer to Parsons inquiry. "It's entirely up to you, Commander, but I know there are members of the crew that would appreciate your words.
"Was that all?" Joseph asked. Parsons finished a sip of his drink, and when he didn't immediately answer, Tras picked up his drink and quietly drank it down. Adam nodded and mumbled something.
"Please excuse me," Tras told Parsons and Pride, leaving the two men to discuss their business while the former Scavenger CO walked up to Katie Anderson.
Pride looked at Commander Parsons, " Yes sir I'll say something or at least try."
"Don't feel obligated, but as Acting XO of her remaining crew, you are certainly more than welcome to share a few words." Adam gave a polite smile before taking another sip of his drink and scanning the room.
Parsons took the stage a short time later and began the Memorial Service by thanking everyone for attending. He then introduced Admiral Lin, who gave a very appropriate first message about fallen comrades and the ultimate sacrifice paid by so many in the service of Starfleet and the Federation.
Next was a holographic message from Captain Drago, apparently recorded before his departure for his current mission. His message was actually quite touching and even had a few personal references about the bravery of particular crew members and fond memories in the short time he Captained the Scavenger. It was pleasantly out of character for the sometimes curt and enigmatic Captain Drago.
Several of the other crew gave brief remembrances of the ship and her crew. Commander Pride also said a few words. Parsons opened the floor to any of the Scavenger crew that wanted to speak. He would give the closing remarks, once all who wanted the chance to speak had been given one.

Kirk cracked a much needed smile. He had been tense and uneasy since his transfer and subsequent arrival on the Scavenger, but the problem was that he could not pin why he was tense.
"Hello." Kirk said coldly knowing that Daya could see right through his facade, "What do you have in mind Daya?"

Looking around the room he thought it was time to leave, He wanted to talk to Illito but thought better of it. He would give her time to come to him when she was ready, not push her. He exited the Holodeck and headed for the South Carolina, he walked to access port and board the ship.
He headed for the bridge to check on how things were going. He was sure the Commander Parsons would want up date when he board.
Looking around she was still in the middle of refit, He decided to head to engineering. He arrived to see some of the seinor officers already there. Walking over to the he knew one Commander Daya but Commander Kirk he hadn't really met yet. " I'm Commander Pride, you XO for this trip. So Commander Kird how much time do you need to get things in order down here. I know its busy but I would like to brief Commander Parsons when he comes aboard."
Looking at Commander Daya it was wierd for him after all he served under him while back "Same for you Commander Daya when will your department be up and running?"

Illito didn't want to say anything, in fact the things that she didn't want to say could probably fill a small blackhole. Instead, she just listened to the other people, to Pride and to Drago and to Parsons and to Lin. Without consciously even realizing what she was doing, Illito wrapped her mourning around her to shield her from having to talk to anyone else.
Pride's departure managed to shatter her shell a little, enough that she thought briefly about following him. But she didn't know what she could say. Which was why she sought out one of those crewmembers who had been on the ship for a time comparable to her own.
She walked toward Pai and picked up a drink. “To the Scavenger,” she whispered, audibly, but not to most people, lifting the glass in a semi-salute.

“So Commander Kirk how much time do you need to get things in order down here? I know its busy but I would like to brief Commander Parsons when he comes aboard."
Kirk looked over at Pride, “With all due respect, I much prefer to brief Commander Parson myself.”
Kirk had been having one of the longest days of his life and he was going ever tired of other officers getting in his way. It started with Captain Drago, moved onto Commander Tras, and now Commander Pride. This was not going to be a good duty station of Kirk and he could feel it. He was too used to a command structure with less interference running up the chain of command. He would adjust, he told himself, it was only a matter of time.
“You know what,” Kirk started his backtracking. He knew his words had come off to harshly, “I will bring you the report when I am finished here.”
<TAG PRIDE>
Pride and left and Kirk was left to his own devices for the time being. The preparations had been going smoothly and he doubted his report was going to take him longer than the rest of the day. Ships systems had been reporting to him as they should have been. Every system had been checked and double-checked before it was given a Code Green on the report.
“What?” Kirk asked Daya. He could feel his friends look.
“Nothing.” Daya laughed to himself.
Kirk looked back in the direction that Pride had left and it was at that moment he decided he was going to deliver the report to Pride, but it was going to be at the same time he presented his report to Commander Parson.

Looking at Commander Kirk, he didn't understand the reaction he was getting. It was his job to brief there acting captain. All sections heads reported to the xo so he could short reports or expand on them as needed for the captain. Still he didn't want to offend there new chief engineer.
" I'm sorry Commander I didn't mean to rush you or anything, Its just I served on the Carolina before. I was intersted in what improvements had been made, I know what they are installing and what is suppose to do. Its just I have learned to check with chief engineers first to see if they really work thats all."
" I have found that designe doesn't always mean vast improvements, I will await for report when you are ready. " He paused for a moment he didn't want to sound like a bad person but he need to say it anyway " Still I'm the acting Xo and all section heads report to me, I dont mind that you want to report to the captain. As long as you let me know about it first Commander. I dont want to step on toes but I dont want to be caught off guard if the captains has questions. I think I have made my point clear on this I hope, and that we can get off on the right foot"
He exited engineering and tapped his combadge " Commander Daya can I have a word with you for a moment. I have some questions about your up grades and was hoping you could clear them up for me." in truth he didn't he just wanted to talk to commander Daya for a little bit and see how things were going.

Daya stood by his long time friend and thought about various ideas that popped into his head. Nothing came to mind for a few moments, but by that time Commander Pride had arrived. Daya remember a few years back when he worked with Pride, and smiled at how much they had both grown. Looking at Commander Daya it was wierd for him after all he served under him while back "Same for you Commander Daya when will your department be up and running?"
"Well, i should have a report on my desk sometime today, and as soon as i take a look ill let you know." He said still smiling. Daya smiled as Pride was talking with Kirk, both of them testing the waters a little. Daya stood by and watched as Pride left. He exited engineering and tapped his combadge " Commander Daya can I have a word with you for a moment. I have some questions about your up grades and was hoping you could clear them up for me." in truth he didn't he just wanted to talk to commander Daya for a little bit and see how things were going. "now, why couldnt he just ask before he left?" Daya asked, not expecting an answer.
"Im on my way commander" Daya said shaking hands with Kirk and exiting engineering, to find Pride only a few yards ahead of him. "What did you need commander?"

Looking at commander Daya " Well I wanted to check and see how you were doing. Its been along time since I last saw you. Its a little wierd for me to have you serving under me for the moment. Things will of course go back to normal when Captain Drago gets back. Hopeful before me and Commander Kirk have any problems. I like him and understand his feelings even still though I"m the acting Xo and need to be in the loop on things."
" Still I just wanted to check on you and see how you are fitting in. I know it must be alittle strange for you not to have to worry about cadets any more. If you need anything please let me know and I look forward to reading your report on the up grades. I have served on the Carolina before and know what she is capable of. So the up grades should only futher her ablitys I think and hope any way. I have long since learned that not all up grades are what they promise to be"
a hour or so later after talking to Commander Daya.
Sitting on the bridge reading reports he thought to himself it was time. Tapping his Com Badge " Commander Tras if you are free could you please report to the South Carolina. I would like to get started on your crash course of piloting a star ship"

Parsons took the stage last.
"Fellow Scavenger crew, friends, and colleagues, I only served on the Scavenger for a brief time before her destruction, but to many of you, she was home..."
The Scavenger's First Officer, now the Acting CO of her crew, made mention of some of the longest serving Scavenger crew, telling stories he had heard involving Dr. Tintagel and Commander Apirana, and others. Fond memories for many of the crew, that Parsons found himself wishing he had experienced himself.
"The day Scavenger was destroyed, many of you lost your home, and those of us who survived, lost friends, lost comrades. So many brave crewmen and women gave their lives that day, for the Federation, for Starfleet, for the Scavenger, for us. They paid the ultimate price so that we might have the opportunity to live on, to survive, to preserve the Federation and our way of life."
"It is only fitting that we remember them today." Parsons went on to share several anecdotes about junior officers and members of the crew he had the pleasure to serve with.
Parsons took a glass from a nearby yeoman, "Please join me in honoring the memory of our fallen brothers and sisters." The crowd raised their glasses and toasted the lost. "We remember...
"...crewman Neil Salek," another speaker continued from farther back on the stage and a bell tolled.
"...Ensign Benjamin Grady," the speaker continued and the bell again tolled.
Other names were read until all of the lost Scavenger crew had been named. The toll of the bell audible between each name. Most of the crowd dissipated quietly after the final names were read. some stayed and wept, remembering dead friends, others came onto the stage for a closer look at the holographic model of the Scavenger. Parsons returned to his quarters and sat in his chair, staring at the wall, contemplating this tremendous loss, and thanking God that he and the other survivors were still alive.
