T'Mar was in the holodeck taking her daughter for a stroll. Even though the fresh air was emulated, it was better than nothing and the excercise was refreshing. Birds were flying around and singing. The holodeck can make everything the way you want. So T'Mar had chosen a park in springtime. As she was sitting on a bench watching playing ducklings Emelye called that there was an urgent message. "I'll be on my way" T'Mar answered and put the baby back in the pram.
"We got a message from the observation post on Aran III. They report a warp ship has landed there and the observers request our assistance" Emelye explained.
"Aran III is a pre-warp civilization, this could have serious concequences to this culture. Helm, set a course at once!"
The helm officer punched his console at once and the ship went into warp. As this mission was quite urgent, the Scavenger broke the warp 5 limit to maximum warp so they would arrive as soon as they could.
A while later they received more data on the strange ship and the commodore called a meeting. The vessel had landed close to a densely habited area so the risk of discovery was high.

Cleburn was in another holodeck training with Samus. They were in the middle of a practice duel. Suddenly Samus stopped and turned to Cleburn and said,"Computer, end program." Cleburn turned in surprise to face Samus. "Whats goin' on laddie?" Cleburn asked. "I've been wondering, sir, we've talked in brief about the Directives of Starfleet. Could you explain the Prime directive a little bit?" "Sure, you see the it is a order that we do not interefere in a lesser civilization. What that means in practice is hard to figure out." Samus started to reply when the Commodore ordered the Senior Staff to a meeting. "Whats up?" Samus asked. "Good question." Cleburn said leaving the holodeck to the meeting. Tag OFF: If nobody else wants to I will continue simming Samus if I was out of line in simming using Samus I apolgize.

Illito, off-duty now, sat in her quarters. “Computer begin recording a private message,” Illito ordered. “To Cido Tintagel,” Illito paused again, realizing that a written message would be easier to get to her brother, though that didn’t mean that it would be easy, just easier. “Transpose voice recordings to text,” she decided.
“What language?” asked the computer.
“What language?” Illito repeated the computer’s own query back to itself, even though she knew it wouldn’t help. “Cardassian,” she then answered.
“Recording has begun,” the computer replied.
“Cido,” Illito started. “I hope you got my last message, the one that I sent from the Academy just after I graduated. If you didn’t then I guess that I can best summarize my mission by saying that it was a unique experience.” Illito paused, noticing how awkward she sounded. She was just talking to her brother, it shouldn’t be hard to think of things to say. “I’m on a ship now, the Scavenger, if the name means anything to you. Last mission we picked up an interesting and very unique crewmember. He’s basically a computer virus that gained sentience, and he now has a holographic form. I haven’t talked to him at all though,” Illito paused again when her commbadge beeped, ordering her to report for a meeting with the rest of the senior staff.
“Computer, end recording, but don’t send it yet,” Illito ordered, leaving her quarters to go to the meeting. One advantage of sending written text was that her brother wouldn’t be able to tell that she had been interrupted part-way through it.

Meanwhile the new Chief Tactical/Security Officer of the Scavenger was settling into his quarters, after having being briefed about the new mission from Commodore T'Mar. He wanted to go and check out his new Security office.
Once he arrived at his new office he saw a big chair by a desk with a computer on it. Suddenly a Security officer arrived, greeted him and handed him a report of the Security and Tactical information about the Ship including Crew rosters for him to amend if he wished.
"Thank you Ensign, I will go over this immediately." Spiro said.
"Aye Sir." The young Ensign replied returning to his usual duties.
Once he left the office, Spiro sat down on his chair reviewing the padd he had just been given. Some 30 mins later, there was a call on the main Ships Comm, it was Commodore T'Mar.
=^=Senior Officer's report to the Bridge=^=
Spiro quickly stood up dropped the padd on his desk and proceeded to the Turbo - lift. The doors opened with a hissing sound and Spiro entered.
"Bridge!" Spiro shouted to the computer as the doors closed.
A few moments later the doors again opened with the usual hissing sound as he exited onto the main Bridge, taking his new position at the Tactical Console checking it out. Meanwhile Commodore T'Mar was waiting for the other Senior officers to come to the Bridge as they were close to arriving at Aran III for the beggining of their new and very sensetive mission.

"I am Lieutenant Commander Spiro Vassiliou, and I am very pleased to meet you. I'm sure that we will be working closely in the future." Spiro replied to the Marines question. "Indeed, anyhow, better get to my position now" The Marine said as he too his place on the Bridge. Spiro got back to working on his new console until the others arrived onto the Bridge. OFF: I am not a Klingon, I'm Human, my picture is just of Worf, but I'm not a Klingon. Sorry for not explaining that.

Illito arrived on the bridge after most of the other senior officers, since she had wanted to go past sickbay to make sure there was nothing important happening there that she would need to deal with. Fortunately Lt. Avel, although his behavior was just short of being insubordinate, was competent enough, and there didn’t seem to be anything that required her immediate attention.
Illito continued on from sickbay to the bridge, and noticed that on the bridge was a senior officer that had not been on the ship during the last mission. She nodded at him. “I am Lt. Commander Illito Tintagel, Chief Medical Officer,” she explained, then waited for the new officer to introduce himself.

The crewmembers were filing into the senior crew meeting room. Lieutenant Commander Vassilou was new and she noticed he was taking in his surroundings. It would still be an hour before they would arrive at Aran III. T'Mar had stayed in touch with the observation post to keep up to date about the developments. At the moment, the part of Aran III where the ship landed, was a few hours away from sunrise so they did not have much time before the population of the nearby settlement would wake up and go about their busyness. She feared some people might wander too far and find the ship.
The crew sat down to hear the latest developments. "I've just had contact with the observatory. It is still night but in a few hours the sun will rise and the inhabitants of a nearby settlement will wake up and do whatever they usually do. Some of them leave the town for wood chopping or their crops and the ship has landed near such a production patch in the forest. The culture on Aran III is mostly industrial but they have not developed warp capability and so they must not be confronted with such technology."
Emelye nodded. "Time is short. I've been thinking of a holographic solution untill it's night again and we have more time to remove that ship."
Luke nodded. "Good idea but it's still tricky to hide a ship under some sort of holographic cloak. It is still solid matter which is standing in an open field. People might bash into it" he said.
T'Mar nodded. "That will be a problem. We need to create a diversion, something natural, like a flood. The area is rather low so a flooding would not be so illogical. Luke, can you put that program together before sunrise?"
Luke thought for some moments. (Tag Luke)
OC: Luke, I've seen you've changed your username, are you still playing Luke Dunsmore on Scavenger?

I am certain that you and I will be having many dealings with each other everytime I get injured, which seems to happen quite frequently to me." Spiro replied with a laugh. "Well, I will be at your disposal when you need me Commander." Illito said with a smile and a small laugh as she walked to take her place on the left of Commodore T'Mar. Spiro then tapped into his computer again looking at the Security/Tactical roster of the Ship looking on how to make the Security more effective, until the Ship arrived at Aran III. It was going to be a very tense mission down on that Planet, and Spiro still did not know fully why they needed the Scavenger to assist, since there was no crash, and their Ship was still working. He could not help thinking that maybe the people requesting assistance, was not who they say they were. If this was the case Spiro was reviewing the Security timetable just in case. However time could only tell...... ;D

Illito entered the staff meeting, and listened for a while. She had her doubts about the flood… “Commodore? Do we know the current atmospheric conditions? Do they often get rain? Because depending on the climate…We don’t want to be trying to cover up our ship, but instead create an event that rarely happens. Just because the ground is low doesn’t necessarily mean that it will flood,” Illito said. She hoped that she wasn’t out of line, but she was concerned more that they approached this situation correctly than she was afraid that she could get a reprimand.
When the meeting was well under-way, Illito raised an issue she felt to be very important. “Although I know that we won’t be trying to come into contact with the native population, I think that is important that if any officers do come into contact that they don’t spread any diseases to the people. The last thing we need right now is to start a plague. So I would recommend that anyone who will be leaving the ship, whether to deal with the other ship or for any reason, I think that they should come to sickbay and have a medical check-up.” Her thoughts having been voiced, Illito waited for other people’s reactions.

"You're right doctor Tintagel. Although the transporter filters out many viruses and bacteria, we cannot be too careful in this situation. All officers going down there, must have a checkup in sickbay" T'Mar replied. "As for the plan to simulate a flood there, indeed it looks like it could be a rare event as the nearby rivers all flow much lower than this plane. But we only need to fool them for a few days. As long as they don't see the ship or anyone in our uniforms, they'll probably think of the event as a natural fluke." She turned to Luke Dunsmore. "Will it be possible to create this diversion on such short notice?" Luke nodded. "I'll need a lot of people to come with me to set up the emitters. I'll work on the program while they're busy with the emitters. It won't be a very perfect program but as long as the emitters are set up correctly, it should be enough. In the middle of it, we'll have space to work on the spaceship." T'Mar nodded. "Very good. The faster we get that ship off the planet, the less chance we might do damage there. Lieutenant McLeod, I need you to keep the site safe. For that some of our people need to mingle among the population to keep tabs on the public opinion there. They'll need cosmetic surgery to fit in." McLeod's eyes shone. This sounded interesting to him. "I'd like to volunteer to mingle with the locals sir, get to meet some people." T'Mar nodded. Emelye raised her hand. "I'd like to volunteer for that as well sir, so I can oversee both the work on the ship and the team in the settlement. OC: Now that some of us are on vacation and others will soon be on vacation, feel free to use each other's characters to some extent. But don't do things like relationships with another player's character or anything you'd need to discuss with each other first. You can check each other's LOA dates in the LOA/vacation thread

"Do we have any preliminary probes with what the natives look like?" Illito asked. "Because given that information, cosmetic surgery shouldn’t be much of a problem. It might take a while though, but that depends on how much the natives are different than humans." Illito didn’t have any other immediate concerns, but she supposed that the outside environment wouldn’t be much like Cardassia’s, in which case a flood would be quite possible, even if it was needed to remain unevaporated for a couple of days.
"Why were we sent to deal with the ship?" Illito asked. "Do they require help, and if so, in what form?" Illito could guess that it probably wasn't medical, but it might be something she would be able to help with. Of course, why would the ship land here, weren't there other planets, even moons, that would be better? Still, if the other ship didn't have the prime directive or some equivalent, they wouldn't have any reason not to land here.

Ilito had a lot of questions. She was quite thorough concerning regulations and concerns involved with these kind of sensitive missions. "We have enough information from the observation post on their appearance and physiological characteristics. The only thing that could be a problem is the fact that they have a strong sense of smell and that they might smell if someone is Aranian or not. But the observers have obtained a sample of the odour and I'm certain a perfume can be synthesized" T'Mar said. Ilito looked over the information on her padd. "I agree, it shouldn't be a problem. But the undercover team will have to spray regularly on themselves to prevent their own body odour to surface. They'll smell even stronger than an ordinary Aranian, but the natives might think they're just sweating." As for the ship T'Mar explained that it was an old Earth vessel, from pre-federation age. That made the situation Starfleet's concern. Their presence could have serious concequences to the society of the planet. T'Mar's only concern was that the crew of that ship would not leave willingly. They had been sundered from Earth and the Federation for centuries.
Luke went to work on the holographic program and put a team of engineers together to get some emitters together. The holoprogram was not difficult to make and he finished it in fifteen minutes.
Ilito had more work on the make-overs for Cleburn and Emelye. She started on Cleburn first. He was a little anxious to get onto the table but the doctor asured him he wouldn't feel a thing.
T'Mar got into contact with the observation station. "Will you be here soon sir?" the commander of the observatory asked. "In half an hour we'll be in orbit. We're preparing for the mission." "That's great" he answered. "However, we've seen occupants of the ship wander around, apparently on the search for materials they might need for their ship. This planet has plenty of resources to fuel their engines for example." "We'll beam them up as soon as we get there. Our sensors can find them." The base commander smiled. "That will give them a shock" he said "indeed."

Once Commodore T'Mar finished talking to the Station she looked at her padd to see what other things needed to be dealt with. After a glimpse at the next agenda she smiled, hit her comm badge and asked for Lieutenant Commander Spiro Vassiliou and Lieutenant Commander Illito Tintagel to report to her ready room before the Scavenger arrived at her destination. After a little while both officers had arrived and stood side by side next to each other not knowing why they both had been needed by Commodore T'Mar. The Commanding Officer of the Scavenger stood up and began: "About an hour ago I spoke to Starfleet Command. During our discussion we discussed both of your progress in Starfleet. It was decided both by Starfleet and myself that both of you should be immdediatelly......." She paused for a moment or two, both Illito and Spiro thought that they were about to be suspended. Spiro kept asking himself what he had done when the Commodore continued. "Promoted to Commander's. Well done to the both of you. I hereby promote you Illitio Tintagel from Lieutenant Commander to Commander, and I hereby promote you Spiro Vassiliou from Lieutenant Commander to Commander. You both now have more responsibilities, but I know you both deserve them. Congratulations." Spiro and Illitio looked at each other in relief of not to be suspended, shook each others hand and congratulated each other whilst tanking the Commodore. The Commodore handed them another full gold pip to wear immediately, and then they all proceeded immediately to the Bridge as the Scavenger was about to reach it destination....... OFF: Hey everyone I am still on holiday, and am having a fantastic time. Keep going with the mission you are all doing really well.

"So is there anything i need to know about this stuff?" Cleburn asked.
“You might want to make sure that you are comfortable in it, and that if you try to scratch your face you aren’t surprised by the fact that it’s a couple of centimeters larger,” Illito answered.
“You also might want to study a little of the body language and the customs, enough to get the basics,” she continued. “Since in order to blend in, not only do you have look like them, you have to act like them. So if any of their customs seem…unusual, remember that you aren’t there to judge.” Illito shrugged, not sure that she had anything else to add, a little uncomfortable with what she had already said. “But I’ve done everything I need to,” she said, since she had already scanned him to make sure he couldn’t infect the natives with anything.

After Cleburn left, Illito waited for Emelye came by, and Illito started to prepare everything she needed for the surgery. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem, but she needed a patient before she could do the work she wanted to do.
As she waited for Commander Brianon to arrive at sickbay, Illito looked more extensively at 1st Lieutenant McLeod’s results of his examination. There seemed to be a few medical oddities, but with a little further study Illito discovered that those were merely the result of him being human, and Illito wasn’t as familiar with human systems. Once she took that into effect though, Cleburn seemed to be very healthy.

Illito was almost finished with the current duty shift, and turned to Lieutenant Avel, who was just coming on duty. She had changed his duty shift, he was now mainly a night officer, it seemed to prevent conflict. Even if Illito didn’t like ignoring the issue. “If Commander Brianon comes by, contact me,” she instructed Avel, and pointing out a couple of other patients who unfortunately had to stay in sickbay overnight and needed special care.
“I understand,” Avel asked. “But I have a question about one of the patients.”
“I’m listening,” Illito answered him, sure that there was a better way to show that she was ready and willing to answer any questions, but not sure what it was.
“Ensign Kolai seems to have been in sickbay for quite a while, but I can’t see anything that’s medically wrong with her.” Avel responded.
“Oh, yes,” Illito replied. “Yes, well, she actually was released this morning.” Illito noticed that Avel glanced to the right, where the same Ensign stood, in a medical uniform, studying a PADD. “We can discuss this in my office,” Illito decided, since she didn’t really want to be overheard. Once in the office, she began to talk. “Ensign Kolai has decided to transfer to the medical department. As we suspected, her ailment was mainly psychological, though I still don’t know what caused it. Anyway, she seems to feel safer working in sickbay, and she is a good worker, and it’s her choice,” Illito said, hoping that Avel wouldn’t try to challenge her authority on this. Instead he merely nodded.
Before he had a chance to respond, Illito’s comm badge beeped. “There’s a subspace communication for you,” she was told.
“Acknowledged,” Illito answered. “Put it through in my office,” she said, then glanced at Avel. “I’m sorry we didn’t get a chance to discuss any other issues you have further yet. I will talk to you further after I’m done.”
“That’s okay,” Avel replied. “I don’t really have anything else to discuss,” he said, leaving her office.
Illito sighed, wondering who would want to talk privately with her. Maybe it was Joan, her friend from the academy. She hadn’t heard from her in a while, and Joan was the only person Illito knew who would be able to send a subspace communication.
The screen stopped showing the federation logo, and instead showed…her brother. Illito’s face broke into a smile. “Cido! How have you been? Have you gotten my letters? Since when could you afford to talk with me over subspace?” Illito’s questions were almost faster than Cido could follow them.
“I’ve been wonderful, and yes, I’ve gotten your letters, all your letters. And, as for your last question, a lot has changed since you left,” Cido smiled, since all of the changes his life had gone through were for the better.
“But it’s only been…” Illito trailed off, realizing how much time it had been. “So, you have to tell me about the changes,” she decided.
“Okay,” Cido agreed, and then decided to start with the biggest change, the one that would catch Illito most by surprise. “I’m engaged. To be married. And I would really like to have my little sister at my wedding. So tell me when you ” Cido was going to keep talking, but stopped when he saw the look of shock on Illito’s face. He laughed loudly. “See, that was why I had to do this by subspace,” he explained.
“Engaged?!” Illito objected, before Cido could continue, as he seemed to want to. “To whom? And since when?” Illito stopped with those two questions, even though she had many more, since she couldn’t find the words for the rest of her questions, and she wanted to give Cido a chance to answer them.
“Since yesterday, so I told you as soon as I could. To Sharne Rionette”
Illito stared blankly at her older brother. “But the name doesn’t tell me anything. And you knew what I meant, who is she? Where does she live? How did you two meet?”
Cido laughed again. “She usually lives on the Lunar Colony around Earth, but she we met when she was,” Cido decided not to continue talking, since he knew that Illito was just going to cut him off.
Instead, Illito simply laughed, no longer able to believe him. “Does this mean she’s not Cardassian?” she said, her voice held a teasing that said that she thought he was setting up an elaborate joke.
“Yes, it does mean that,” Cido replied, so resolutely that Illito stopped laughing to stare at him, wondering if he had been replaced by a changeling. Her brother had always been so devoted to helping Cardassia, and the people of Cardassia. He had gotten a job when they both were younger, and it had barely been enough to support the two of them, but he had spent all of his spare time helping trying to clean up the streets, and he had took a crash course in medicine, so he could help try to heal people who needed it. He had been disappointed when Illito had decided to leave Cardassia, even though he had understood why she thought it was necessary. Cido was twenty-three, and had been trying to work for the good of Cardassia for close to fifteen years. He was more a patriot than anyone else she had ever met, or heard about.
“Are you going to leave Cardassia?” Illito asked.
“No,” Cido answered. “I couldn’t do that.”
Illito and Cido talked for quite a bit longer. She laughed often, and smiled almost the entire time. After she had talked to Cido, she talked to his fiancée for a while too, although that conversation was a little awkward, since Illito wasn’t quite sure what to say. After she was finished, and the subspace channel had been closed, Illito sighed, realizing how tired she was. She checked with Avel on her way out of sickbay, but he didn’t have any problems, so Illito continued on to her quarters, and collapsed onto her bed. She was very soon asleep.

Illito woke fairly early the next morning, and decided that she didn’t want to replicate her food and eat in her quarters, and since it wasn’t time to report for duty yet, she decided to eat breakfast at the replimat. She was cheerful, at least, more cheerful than she reasonably should be, and more cheerful than she usually was, and wondered if she’d see anybody she would recognize there, and maybe could even talk to. She hadn’t yet truly met any of the people on the Scavenger, except really for Lieutenant Avel, but she would hardly call him someone she had particularly wanted to meet.
Illito wondered if she might even meet anyone from the team that was going to mingle with the people of the planet, she didn’t know if they had left yet or not.
