“You seemed to rush out of sickbay as soon as you could after you first got beamed aboard,” Illito said, once Katie was comfortably settled. “Was there a reason for that?” she asked. Katie looked a little uncomfortable. “You don’t have to answer that, it may help, or it may not, but you are more likely to know that than I am, since you presumably know that answer. So if you don’t feel that it’s particularly relevant, or important, you don’t have to mention it. And although it seemed more than just being eager to report for duty, I won’t ask you about it again if you say so, unless I feel that it might be relevant again.” Illito shrugged, she knew she wasn’t guaranteeing much, but that was about all she could guarantee to Katie.
“I uh…have always had a deep fear of sickbays. I don’t know where it came from but the feeling I get from being in sickbay sends shivers down my spine.” Katie said.
Katie sat quietly not knowing what else to say. She wanted to open up to the doctor and explain to her about her training mission and how she was stabbed by a Amazon warrior, how Paikea almost died during that mission. She had a lot on her mind but Katie always had a hard time opening up to anybody, even her mother who she felt closer to than anybody.

Paikea knew that he was okay. Well at least he was alive, but he was in extreme pain. Paikea already knew what was wrong with him, it wasn't a physical problem, it was all in his mind. Yet he felt as though he couldn't talk about it. He didn't remember much about his short time on the warbird, but he knew that he had been tortured. Now he was hearing two people talking and he turned his head to see who it was, but making sure that they didn't notice. “I uh…have always had a deep fear of sickbays. I don’t know where it came from but the feeling I get from being in sickbay sends shivers down my spine.” Katie said. Paikea never knew that, but quickly realized that Katie was never herself when she was in sickbay. "I'm sorry Katie," Paikea said," I'm sorry that I put you in sickbay." Katie did not speak to Paikea she just stared at him and then looked away. Doctor Illito walked towards Paikea and used the tricorder once again. "It seems that your metabolism has returned back to normal, Lt," Illito said as she closed the tricorder. "So can I go doctor?" Paikea asked already knowing the answer. <Tag Illito> "Why not doctor, you yourself said that I was back to normal," Paikea said trying to make her release him. <Tag Illito> Paikea didn't want to talk about his experience on the Romulan ship, he didn't want to tell anyone it was just to fresh on his mind, but what the doctor was saying was true he needed to face his demons or he would not be able to serve the Federation. "Okay it started when...," Paikea was starting to say, but as he was speaking he seemed to get nervous and started to sweat. Off: I modified it becuase I was bored

T'Mar checked the bridge where Cleburn was on the night watch. Cleburn turned to T'Mar. "Sir, request permission to join the search team?" T'Mar nodded. "Permission granted. You did quite well when we were down there. Report to Commander Cavit in the morning at 09:00. She will fill you in on the objectives." "Thankyou sir" he replied happily. "My shift ends at 04:00 so I'll get some sleep first. How are Paikea and Anderson doing? Has the doctor found out what's wrong with them?" "They are allright for now but their condition is still a mystery. They have been abducted and tortured by the rogue Romulans so that might have affected them in a way that is unclear." "Probably sir. I hope they'll be better soon." T'Mar nodded. "Now I am finally going to bed. It is demanding to command a ship and maintain a family" she sighed. "But you're doing it quite well sir. Goodnight sir" Cleburn said. "Thankyou, goodnight Lieutenant" she replied and left the bridge. When she entered her quarters she checked the baby who was sleeping soundly and then she headed straight for the bed where her husband was also still sleeping. As soon as she lay under the covers she fell asleep.

"So can I go doctor?" Paikea asked.
“I really don’t think that’s a good idea,” Illito replied.
"Why not doctor, you yourself said that I was back to normal," Paikea said trying to make her release him.
“I said your metabolism was back to normal, which isn’t actually reassuring, given the rapidness with which it happened, you could have problems again. I think it’s important to get to the root of the problem and…I think you do too. I’ve tried to figure out all that I can, but,” Illito paused. “Your cooperation would really help, but the only one it can help is you. You need to face this, and if talking about it helps, I’m here to talk to.” Illito knew that perhaps she was talking a little…strongly about this, but she felt that she needed to make Paikea know what her point was, even if she felt like she was clobbering him over the head with it. Although she hoped she wasn’t doing that.
"Okay it started when...," Paikea was starting to say, but as he was speaking he seemed to get nervous and started to sweat.
Illito watched as Paikea struggled to speak, and was unable to. “I don’t think this is helping,” Illito said. “The point isn’t to make you relive it. But I’m not sure what will help.” Illito glanced at Katie, then back at Paikea. “I’m open to any suggestions on this point.”

“I’m open to any suggestions on this point.” Paikea knew that he wouldn't come up with anything, but he didn't want his fellow officer to do that either.
"Couldn't we try to purge his memories?" Katie asked of Doctor Tintagel. Paikea had heard of memory purges and how they helped people forget about there horrible experiences.
"They are very risky, but they..." Illito started to say.
"No, I don't want a purge," Paikea said quickly. He didnt' want to experience the horrible scenes that were going through his head, but he had to deal with this problem. It knew that not even a purge would be able to cure him of what he was feeling.
"Are you sure?" Illito asked,"they are risking, but I know that I can do it."
"I'm sure you can doctor, but I don't want to do it," Paikea said as he closed his eyes.
"Okay, then we must find something else," Katie said. Yet with all three of them thinking about possible solutions, nothing came to them. Illito walked towards the medical database to look for some other medical possibilities which left Katie and Paikea alone for the first time since there encounter with the Romulans.
For the longest time they didn't speak to each other, but they found that not talking was worse.
"Look, I am sorry about what happened to you on the Romulan ship," Paikea said without looking at her," I didn't mean to put you in danger. I didn't want you to experience the Hepta again."
"I know you didn't, but you just need to listen," Katie said chuckleing. Paikea laughed with Katie, but knew that she was right. He always wanted to do things his way without thinking of the consequences.
"I guess I will have to work at it," Paikea said as he looked at Katie for the first time since being alone with her. She was already looking at him and he could see forgiveness in her eyes. All the guilt that Paikea had been feeling left him instantly.
"Hey Katie see you later," Paikea said.
"See you later?" Katie said confused.
"Yeah I can barely stay awake," Paikea said with a smile as he fell asleep.
A while later
Paikea woke up refreshed and full of energy. He stood up so fast that he hit Illito who had been scanning him.
"Ouch," Illito said as she rubbed her head.
"Sorry about that doc, but I feel a lot better," Paikea said.
"I know, your scans are telling me that you somehow are back to normal," Illito said," you are allowed to go back to duty."
"Have we reached the our destination yet?" Paikea asked.
"No we are not there yet," Katie said smiling at him. Paikea was surprised to see that Katie was still in sickbay.
"How far until we reach the planet and the rest of the crew?" Paikea asked.
"About an hour actually, kind of surprising that you woke up just in time," Katie said as she helped Paikea up from the bio bed.
"Lt. Apirana if you don't feel well at any time you are to come here immediatley," Illito said.
"Yes doc," Paikea said as he walked out of sickbay and headed towards the bridge with Katie. They quickly got there and took there stations.
"Lts. it's good to see you both, I hope that you are ready to get back to work?" Commodore T'Mar asked.
"Yes sir," they both responded as they went about there business.
Off: I continued the mission because it seems that no one is posting and I also take responsibility for not posting I have been very busy, but thats no excuse.

Illito watched Paikea and Katie leave, then thought for a couple of minutes. Making up her mind, she headed to Commodore T’Mar’s office.
“Commander Tintagel?” the Commodore said, seeming a little surprised to see Illito there.
“Yes sir. I would like to request permission to join the away team, if it’s possible,” Illito said, then rushed on to explain herself. “Someone on the surface could be injured, and it would probably be useful to have a doctor along.” Illito wasn’t sure how the Commodore would react, but Illito felt that she could be more use on the ground than on the ship.

“There aren’t many injured in sickbay, and none of them require my attention. I assume you know of Lieutenant Apirana’s recovery?” Illito asked Commodore T’Mar.

“Yes, I am also very relieved to see that he is now feeling fine,” Illito replied.

T'Mar was in her readyroom the next morning reading padds and sipping tea. The door chimed and doctor Tintagel walked in.
"You're right, the awayteam could use someone with medical expertise. But how about the officers who fel ill last night?" T'Mar asked.
“There aren’t many injured in sickbay, and none of them require my attention. I assume you know of Lieutenant Apirana’s recovery?” Illito asked Commodore T’Mar.
"Yes, hopefully this was a one time episode."
“Yes, I am also very relieved to see that he is now feeling fine,” Illito replied.
T'Mar nodded. "Permission granted to join the awayteam. The remaining personnel can look after Paikea and Anderson. When do you think they are fit for duty?"
"If they don't have any relapses, tomorrow" Illito replied. "But I doubt they will, they've had a good night. What troubles me is that I still don't know what caused it. It could very well be all in their heads."
"Then they would need counselling which always has been a problem on this ship. We've had counsellors, but they often locked themselves in their quarters and we didn't hear from them. But I believe they might work this out toghether. Their friendship is strong."
Illito smiled. "Yes they do seem to get along quite well. I'll prepare now and have one of my staff do my face."
A short while later T'Mar went to the bridge and greeted commander Cavit who was leaving for the planet to find the missing crewmen. "Doctor Tintagel will be joining your team, to help anyone who may have gotten injured."
"Great!" Cavit replied. "Also nice to get to know her" she smiled. "I've got to go now get my face done. We're nearly at the planet. I think our buddies there will be glad to see us."
T'Mar nodded. "Yes, they will be gratified with our return. But I think they know we do not leave people behind."

Much to Paikea's dismay, the doctor didn't release them for duty until tomorrow. When Paikea found out he wanted to scream, he hated being cooped up, but there was no way that he would overrule the doctor so there was no point in trying.
But before he headed towards his room he made sure to transfer as much work to his console as possible. He wouldn't waste a perfectly good day because of relapses.
"What are you doing, Lt.?" Illito asked as she came out of the Commodore's office.
"Um..I...I'm just checking on some systems, before I go to my quarters," Paikea said hoping that the doctor would believe him.
"Okay, good, just remember that you are not to overdue yourself," Illito said as she walked into the turbolift. Paikea waited a couple of minutes and then left to go work in his quarters.
-------------------------------
"Computer analysis the planet's overall scientific advancements," Paikea said knee deep in PADD's. The doctor's warning came to mind as he stopped working for a bit and looked around his bed. How had he accumulated so much in just two hours he wouldn't know, but he was glad that he working.
"Analysis complete." Paikea smiled at the quickness of the analysis and began to read it. He was quickly surprised to see that there was a thirty year old pattern when it came to the advancement of the people on the planet. It seemed that the Romulans were purposely giving the population technology. It wasn't a huge scientific advancement like warp technology or weapons, but they were things that were leading them that way. Every two years, and three days something major was invented. It first started with the combustible engine and the next go round it was the first computer and the next go around was the cure for most common diseases.
This just didn't make sense, at this rate the population would be warp capable in two decades. But why would the Romulans want this to happen. Why didn't they just take over forceably. Then it hit him, they were getting something in return. There must be something really important to the Romulans on that planet. Something so important that they would give out there technology for it.
=^=Apirana to T'Mar=^=
=^=T'Mar here, I thought that the doctor put you on bed rest=^=
=^=She did, but I couldn't stay still=^= Paikea was almost sure that he heard a chuckle over the comm, but he couldn't be sure.
=^=Okay go ahead Mr. Apirana=^=
=^=I have found a pattern, that may explain why the Romulan's are here. We could find out while the away team resuces the rest of the crew=^=

Paikea told T'Mar about his analysis. "That is a grave violation of interstellar treaties!" T'Mar exclaimed. "It will first be reported to Starfleet Command. But now that the rogue Romulans have been captured, we can now attempt to ascertain how much technology they have given away."

"That is a grave violation of interstellar treaties!" T'Mar exclaimed. "It will first be reported to Starfleet Command. But now that the rogue Romulans have been captured, we can now attempt to ascertain how much technology they have given away."
"Commordore is there any way that I can return to duty to complete this investigation and pin point the damage that the Romulans have caused?" Paikea asked knowing that it was a long shot.
"Well since the doctor is away down on the planet right now I don't see any reason not to let you come back to duty, but only if you feel up to it," Commodore T'Mar asked," by the way Lt. see if Lt. Anderson is up to it as well, since currently we are a bit undercrewed."
"Yes ma'am and thanks," Paikea said as he started to download all of his current research into a PADD. After his research was downloaded he quickly left his quarters and made a V-line towards Katie's quarters.
Beep, Beep, Beep
It seemed that Katie was in a deep sleep, because it took about five minutes for her to answer the door.
"What is it?" Katie said annoyed when she opened the door.
"Just wanted to know, if you could help me.....," Paikea said explaining the situation. "Well do you want to help?"
<Tag Katie>
"Okay good, see you in a bit," Paikea said as he headed towards the turbolift.
"Deck 1, Bridge," Paikea said as he started to work on his information again. By the time he reached the bridge he had made several discoveries. First it seemed as thought he rogue Romulans had been on the planet a lot longer than anyone expected, maybe thirty years longer. Secondly even thought Paikea didn't want to say it outloud these Romulans made the lives of the people better with their interference, but like Commodore T'Mar said they broke intersteller treaties in the process.
As Paikea stepped out of the bridge he quickly took noticed that they really were undercrewed. The helmsman and the Commodore were the only senior staff presently on the bridge.
"Where is Lt. Anderson?" T'Mar asked as she turned to Paikea.
"I'm right here," Katie said entering the bridge," it just seemed that someone didn't wait for me."
Paikea was embarrassed by Katie's statement, but quickly shook it off knowing that she was just messing with him.
"Well so lets get to work," Katie said as she joined him at his console.
"You know if someone would of waken up," Paikea said whispering. Katie very discretly gave Paikea an elbow and said smiling.
"Still I'm a lady."
Paikea couldn't help but smile, it seemed as though there major problems were now resolved, but he wasn't naive enough to belief that all of them had just disappeard.
"Katie do you think that you can find this frequency on the planet and can you pinpoint the location ?" Paikea asked discovering the way that the Romulans communicated with the indegiounous people. It seemed as though they had established a highly complicated system that seemed to start from everywhere on the planet.

After Illito finished all the last-minute additions for surgery for the away team, she herself underwent the surgery, and found it to be a little disorientating to be on the other side of the knife, figuratively. There was no real knife used, not even that much surgery. The changes were merely enough so as to pass a cursory glance, and, if necessary, through a conversation. Illito doubted that anyone would actually be looking out for non-natives, and if they weren’t, then they weren’t likely to find any minor discrepancies.
Once she was ready, and after she had verified her new look in a mirror, and it was time to return to the planet, Illito went down to the transporter bay, and waited for the rest of the away team to show up. After that was done, the away team was transported to the area near where the ship had been, before it was force to leave.
A member of the away team quickly located the signs of the humans-Commander Dunsmore and the rest of his engineering team. As the team headed toward the life signs, Illito noticed a building that appeared to be getting closer. That can’t be right, Illito thought. There shouldn’t be a building here, there couldn’t have been one when we landed, or we would have chosen a different landing spot. It looks like it’s very near where the Scavenger was.
“The life signs are certainly coming from that building,” a security crewmember, Lieutenant Okalani reported. “But they aren’t responding to my attempts to contact them.” Lt. Okalani stepped a little bit away from the main group to try again. “This is Lieutenant Okalani to Commander Dunsmore, Ensigns Yamill and Gaetane, and Lieutenant Jael, please respond.” There was silence from the other end. Lt. Okalani shook his head at Commander Cavit. “They don’t seem to be responding,” he said, as if the lack of a reply wasn’t enough, he felt that it should be said.
“But their life signs are strong, they don’t seem to be unconscious,” Illito countered optimistically. She could see four life signs on the scanner, and they all seemed to be fine. But that didn’t explain the lack of response.
“No matter what the situation is, I think it’s important we hurry,” replied Lt. Okalani, feeling a little full of himself since he was the most senior Security officer on the away team. Still, everyone else seemed to agree, as though being this close to the crewmembers made everything more urgent.
Entering the building, a lot of people stopped to stare at the ceiling, which seemed to stretch forever, and at the walls, which were vivid colors, but Illito was only concentrated on the forms standing unaware in the center of the room. “Commander Tintagel to Transporter Bay 1,” Illito said, tapping her commbadge. There was no reply. “Away team to beam up,” she said, on the off chance that they were able to hear her. Still no reply. “I think this building somehow blocks comm signals, as well as transportation. That’s why we were unable to beam them back to the ship directly.” She looked around the room, noticing the beauty of it for the first time, then quickly disregarding it to return to the inert people, who were breathing, but didn’t seem to be seeing or aware at all of what was going on around them. She didn’t want to move them, it might injure them, or at least highly disorient them when they came to, but all attempts to revive them from their coma-like state wasn’t working.
“I’m going to leave the structure to contact the Captain and inform her of the situation,” Lt. Okalani said to Commander Savit, before quickly exiting. “This is Lieutenant Okalani to Captain T’Mar. We’ve found Commander Dunsmore and the rest of his team, and their life signs are stable, but they are unaware of their surroundings, and aren’t responding. We are unable to contact the ship from inside the structure,” he said, the awe he had felt inside the building making itself clear, “But all signals are clear from outside the building. Commander Tintagel is currently trying to figure out the safest way to get our crewmembers back on the ship, and I’ll keep you informed as events progress.”
<That’s all for me for now, will probably come back to work more on it/finish it tomorrow, but anyone on the away team or Commodore T’Mar is free to respond.>

On the bridge they were working out how the Romulans had communicated with the inhabitants of the planet. "Sir, the I have the idea that the Aranians in general are unaware of the Romulans. Nearly all of the groundbreaking inventions were done in the same large settlement. Seems someone there is the liason or some Romulans have gone undercover" Paikea said.
"I think some Romulans have gone undercover" Anderson added. "I think they're likely to do this that way."
T'Mar nodded. "In that case, we have to find them because they're still out there." Then they got Illito's message that they'd found the missing crew and their situation. They seemed to be stuck in a holographic environment and under the influence of it. "It seems to me we're dealing with some kind of holodeck. If you can find the offswitch, that might also clarify things."
"We've been around and in the building sir, we haven't yet found any controls" the doctor answered. "There might be a remote station, but we can't determine that from here. I don't get any signals so my guess is that it's all inside."
"Keep investigating and as soon as you see a way to get Dunsmore and his team out of there, do so. And then get back to the ship as I have things to tell you I won't say on an unsecured channel."
"Understood sir. Dunsmore and his team is our first priority" Tintagel replied.

OOC: Joint post between myself and Paikea, with Paikea doing Zach, in gray.
IC:“Can you find a way to counteract the signal, prevent it from reaching them?” Illito asked a nearby science ensign, as she was already directing her scanner at the walls, since there didn’t seem to be any further information she could gather from the engineering team that was in a coma-state.
Zach was surprised when Doctor Tintagel started talking to him. He never expected a senior officer to speak to him, none the less ask for his professional opinion. "To be honest doc, right now I I can't come up with anything," Zach said as he directed his scanners towards his crewmembers.
"If you do, don't hesitate to tell me," Illito said, turning away from the ensign. "And do you have any clues on how we can teleport them out of here?"
"I do know that the only way for the Scavenger to teleport any of them onto the ship would be one by one," Zach said," we cannot risk mixing there patterns in the teleporters." As Zach said this he got closer and closer to the crewmembers. He first got close to Commander Dunsmore and checked his vitals. If he didn't know better he would think that they were dead. "Doctor is can you tell if there coma is being caused by something?"
"It has to be caused by something," Illito said. "Since the chances of four people simultaneously falling into a coma are fairly low, especially since none of their health reports indicates such a possible risk. But I don't know what the cause is. It could be anything from the building to the native air, though my scanners show that the air is fine," Illito said, trying not to worry anyone about possible contamination of the air around them.
Lieutenant Okalani quietly reentered the building after talking to Commodore T'Mar and went up to Commander Savit. “Commodore T’Mar believes that the building may be holographic,” he told Commander Savit, who asked the science ensign to search for signs of such a thing in addition to his other current work.
The building, it had to be the building Zach thought as he touched the walls surrounding them. The room was enchanting, it seemed to give off an aura pure light. "Doctor I think that this building is no normal structure," Zach said as he scanned the building again. The building gave off a small neurological charge, but could it be enough to do this to four healthy people? Zach quickly showed the doctor his results and awaited her response. The response had to wait since Lt. Okalani entered the building and reported what the Commodore had told him. This convinced Zach, this really wasn't an ordinary building. The quicker they found the holographic emitter the faster they could help their crewmates.
"Do you know how far the neurological charge extends past the edge of the building?" Illito asked Zach. Illito knew that they had to find the holographic emitter, that it would help the situation, but she wanted to have a plan in case they couldn't find the emitter, or in case shutting it off didn't make any difference to the people who were already in a coma.
Illito didn’t want to disorient them if there was a chance that the crew might come out of the comas on their own, but she didn’t like them being here without the ability to teleport them to sickbay if anyone took a turn for the worse.
Zach quickly ran outside the building and searched for the charge. He found that it extended 20 meters form the outside of the building. "Doctor the charge only extends 20 meters from the building," Zach said as soon as he entered the building. Zach saw as the rest of the away team had started to look for the emitter. "Doctor how strong do you think the charge is?" Zach asked getting an idea.
"The charge seems fairly weak," Illito replied. "I think they must have been here a while without noticing that they were getting weaker before they slipped into a coma." Illito could understand why they might lose track of time and themselves, the building was very enchanting.
If the charge was fairly weak as the doctor said, then it wouldn't effect a Vulcan at all, especially one as strong as their CO, T'Mar. "Doctor do you think that Commodore T'Mar may be able to weaken the charge inside the crewmembers brain and give us enough time to teleport them to the Scavenger?" Zach asked as he scanned the crewmembers again.
"That might work," Illito agreed. "Although since the charge is external, it may be fairly difficult, and I think it depends a great part on how willing the Commodore is to do it. And this is assuming that the teleportation blocking signal and the neurological charge are linked. Although you're the science officer, can you tell if they are or not?" Illito asked.
"Well I think I meet need Lt. Apirana's opinion on this matter, but I also think that both are linked," Zach said awaiting the doc's response.
"OK, I'll contact the commodore and see if she thinks she can help," Illito said. "It certainly sounds like it would be worth a try." Illito paused for a little bit, thinking over another idea. "Do you think moving them out of the range of the neurological charge could also have an affect?" she asked.
"It might work, but I think that the charge is too embedded into their neaurological pathways," Zach said not knowing all of the medical implications.
Illito did another scan of the nearest member of the engineering staff, and noticed that Zach was right. "Thanks, I missed that," Illito said warmly to Zach, then realized another problem. "I think it might also be a good idea if we rotate staff so that no one stays in this building, and subject to this charge, too long. If it's only for short times, their brain should be able to provide a defense, but too long could become very dangerous," Illito said, with a glance around the room.
“And then there's the Romulans, that are inextricably linked to this whole situation," Illito said. "It might not be such a good idea to have the Commodore come down here, because for all we know this could be some kind of trap."
Zach had not thought about that, he didn't know the entire story concerning the Romulans. Yet he knew that there were tricky enough to pull that off. " I have to agree, but then that leaves how are we going to help our crewmembers," Zach said.
"Perhaps we could move them out, and then teleport them to the ship," Illito suggested. "I think if we get them far enough from the building we should be able to teleport them, and then we can try to have Commodore T'Mar look at them from sickbay. It does require moving them though, and that is not the ideal solution, but I think it may be the least risky one. If you think it would work?"
Was this an acceptable risk, could they risk the lives of thier crewmembers on the chance of this being trap. "Doctor, I think....." Zach began to say before he was interrupted by Commander Cavit. “Doctor, ensign I have just been told that there is a large group of people heading in this general area, ETA forty minutes.” Zach looked at the doctor and realized that they now didn’t have a choice they would have to move the officers immediately.
"Doctor we need to move them right now, or we will be breakin the Prime Directive," Zach said as he packed all of his scanning equipment.
"Yes, of course," Illito agreed. Illito enlisted the help of everyone who wasn't desperately needed elsewhere to help move the patients a little over 20 metres away from the building. She actually had quite a few volunteers, which she was pleased at, nobody wanted to risk leaving crew behind. She noticed that it was still a risk to teleport more than one of the comatose patients at once, which would really be pressing everyone for time. "I think we still need to teleport them seperately," Illito said. "And while that may bring the group closer than I would like them to be, I'd rather risk a Prime Directive violation than losing the lives of anyone," Illito said, making her opinions on this matter very clear, while she was in the middle of moving one of the patients, as gently as possible.
"You won't get any objection from us," Zach said as he looked at everyone helping the comatose crewmembers. Zach and another ensign who he did not know carefully picked up Commander Dunsmore. It was only 20 meters, but it seemed like miles, they couldn't go too fast because of the risk of endangering his health. When they finally broke the 20 meter goal they were both sweaty, not from fatigue, but from nervousness.
As soon as one of the comatose individuals reached the area they were teleported up to the ship, since they were everyone's top priority. "We might be able to bluff our way out of this, if necessary," Illito said. "We could pretend to be natives, although I don't think that would work too well long term, all we need to do is distract them, convince them there‘s nothing interesting here. On the other hand, it could be the Romulans themselves who are coming,” Illito said. “Since I would guess that they had a hand in this building. But perhaps that’s just me being paranoid,” Illito finished with a shrug. “I would actually think Romulans would use a more efficient form of travel, so chances are actually fairly low that it’s them.”
After most everyone was teleported up, the last batch of Starfleet crew prepared, well before the group of people that had been approaching would be able to see the teleportation. “I guess we’ll never get to see whether they were Romulan or native then,” Lt. Okalani said, sounding rather disappointed.
“I guess not,” Illito said, brushing him off in an attempt to get to sickbay as soon as possible, to make sure that the patients were at least still stable. Upon verifying that they were, Illito tapped her commbadge, ready to implement the science ensign’s suggestion. “Commander Tintagel to Commodore T’Mar. I understand that you might be fairly busy, but if you can come down to sickbay as soon as possible, I think there might be a way you can help Commander Dunsmore and his team.” Illito said, hoping she got the urgency of the message across.

Things had become a lot more hectic on the bridge when the bridge was told that the away team might get discovered. T'Mar quickly stopped what she was doing and looked over at Katie and Paikea. She of course wanted answers. Paikea ran a quick scan of the area and reported to her.
"It is a group about 100 people and they are directly in the path of the away team," Paikea said as he read off his console.
"Do you think they know about our people?" T'Mar asked. Paikea at first could not answer that question, he needed more information. So Paikea enlarged his scans and saw that there were many groups of people heading in their direction.
"Ma'am I don' t think so, scans don't show and signs of military activity, I think that the people are participating in a type of festival or celebration," Paikea said hoping that he was correct.
=^=Scavenger this is away=^=
=^=Away team this is the Scavenger=^=
=^=Commordore we are transporting Commander Dunsmore's team to sickbay=^=
=^=Is that safe?=^= Paikea said interupting.
=^=The doctor wished we didn't have to do this, but it is are only option=^=
=^=Okay, away team good luck=^=
"T'Mar to all medical personal, report to sickbay immediately," T'Mar said knowing that the Doctor would need help. The bridge crew could only wait in anticipation as the away team beamed back on board. Paikea let out a sigh of relief when he heard Doctor Tintagel's voice over the comm.
“Commander Tintagel to Commodore T’Mar. I understand that you might be fairly busy, but if you can come down to sickbay as soon as possible, I think there might be a way you can help Commander Dunsmore and his team.” Illito said.
"I'm on my way, Doctor," T'Mar said turning to the turbolift," Lt. Apirana you have the bridge." Paikea hesitantly took the center chair. Feeling useless being there he got up and went to his console and continued to work.
He knew that the Scavenger wouldn't leave the planet until they could make sure that the Romulan threat was neautralized. Yes they had already taken care of the Romulan them selves, but they surely had a base on the planet.
"Katie can you run a scan on the world and see if there is something that shouldn't be there," Paikea said as he went to the helm station and uploaded some coordinates.
"Computer take us to these coordinates." The ship slowly moved closer to the planet, hopefully that will let the scans work better. As the bridge crew worked, Paikea couldn't help but worry about the people in sickbay. He could call sickbay, but realized that they were busy down there and they didn't need him interrupting them.

OCC: Okay, to be a bit more realistic we have to take into account that, there would still be some Romulans on their base on the planet. For that reason I will be posting as the head person on the base. Hope that makes sense ;D
Bochra was not happy, in fact he was irate. Things never went right when he dealt with the Federation. First it was the Enterprise D and Picard and now it was the Scavenger and T'Mar. What made it worst was the fact that T'Mar was a Vulcan, a Vulcan had destroyed there fleet. Before now not even the Tal Shiar knew of their existence, but that was all ruin. There years of planning had just been destroyed
"What are we going to do sir?"
"Are all the two D'deridex ready for launch?" Bochra asked.
"Yes sir, we are ready to leave this planet," the Romulan responded," most of our work is already on the ship."
"Okay, good, as soon as our ships are in orbit explode this base," Bochra said.
"Sir, but what of the natives here," Bochra said.
"Do you think that I care about them," Bochra said angrily," the Federation knows that we are here, and they will not stop looking until they find us."
This statement shut the Romulan up as he did as he was told. Bochra took one last look at the base that he had been working on for twenty years.
It was supposed to be our new home, the beginning of our new empire. In the last thirty years the original 500 Romulans had become 2000, but in the last hours that all changed to at most 700.
The Scavenger had killed his entire family and if it took him the rest of his life he would take revenge on them. He would kill the crew of the Scavenger.
"Sir, everyone is at there station."
"Okay good, tell the Tomal to lead us into orbit," Bochra said.
"Sir are sensors report that the Scavenger is in orbit, they are right above us."
This was Bochra's chance; he would take his revenge on the Scavenger.
"Battle stations." ---------------------------
Paikea had been working to find the Romulan station, but a powerful blast on the planet stopped his search.
"What just happened?" Paikea said heading towards the center command chair.
"There was a huge explosion on the northern most continent," Katie responded still scanning the area," Paikea I'm reading two D'deridex class warbirds heading out from the planet and there on an intercept course.
"Battle Stations," Paikea said as he went to the comm," Commodore T'Mar and all available senior staff report to the bridge immediately."
<Tag everyone> --------------------------
"Have they detected us yet?" Bochra asked.
"Yes sir they have powered up weapons and shields."
"Tell the Tomal to coordinate the attack with us," Bochra said taking over the tactical station. He wanted to destroy the ship.
"We will be in weapons range in 7 seconds." Those seven seconds were the longest in his life, but when they came only a portion of his anger was released.
"Fire at will" The green glow of the disruptors hit the Scavenger at full force, but it didn't cause major damage. The D'deridex were powerful, but they had stopped being made a decade ago.
"Fire plasma torpedoes, aim at there...." Bochra couldn't finish the command as his ship was attacked by the superior Scavenger.
"Get me the Tomal," Bochra said," Tomal transport everyone onto my ship now." The process only took a couple of seconds which allowed the Scavenger to come around the planet and fire again.
"Sir, V'Leenk has stayed behind, he intends to give us a fair chance."
Bochra knew that this would be the last stand of the Tomal, but her destruction would not be for nothing the USS Scavenger will pay for this, Bochra said to himself. .
"Take us to warp."
"Where sir?"
"Anywhere, but far away from Federation space." The Khazara engines fired up and were soon in warp.
<Tag Everyone>
OCC: Well I wasn't thinking of doing this, but this is the way it came out. Leaves the possibility of meeting Bochra again, but for now lets deal with the Tomal

"I'm on my way, Doctor," T'Mar replied to Illito’s request for the Commodore’s presence.
Illito was in the middle of scanning Commander Dunsmore when Commodore T’Mar entered. Illito had determined with the help of the rest of the medical staff that the Commander and the rest of his team were stable, they didn’t seem any better, but neither was their health deteriorating. Illito judged that the team would be fine for about five hours, but she preferred that a cure be found for them as soon as possible. Illito was a little distracted when the Commodore entered, but Illito diverted her attention as soon as she finished the scan.
“Commodore, thank you for coming,” Illito said.
<Tag T’Mar>
“Yes, of course. Commander Dunsmore and the rest of his team is in a coma, and it’s quite possible that you could help them recover,” Illito said, getting straight to the point.
<Tag T’Mar>
“They have been affected by a weak neural charge that was emitted by the structure they were in, that charge has become embedded in their neural pathways. It’s a little like when someone becomes momentarily distracted-and completely unaware of their surroundings-everything that’s going on around them. It’s usually a perfectly natural condition that last a few seconds at most, but something seems to have caused that that has prolonged that moment, and stops the crew from being able to regain control of their own consciousness. You might be able to help by using your telepathy to bring them to awareness. I believe their own consciousness has to be at some level still functioning as normal.”
<Tag T’Mar>
“This isn’t something I would usually ask of you, but I’m not sure that they can recover on their own,” Illito explained.
<Tag T’Mar>
Just then the ship shuddered as it was hit by weapons fire. "Commodore T'Mar and all available senior staff report to the bridge immediately."
<Tag T’Mar>
“The patients will be fine for at least four hours,” Illito said, deliberately underestimating to give as large a safety margin as possible. “So if you’re needed on the bridge, they should be fine if you’re able to return soon. As for myself, I doubt I would be much use on the bridge, I can do much more here. I’ll notify you if there’s any change in the patient’s condition, although my staff’s-and my-attention will be on the recently wounded during the battle,” Illito finished, since she knew that her actual presence on the bridge wouldn’t be a good thing.
<Tag T’Mar>
Illito understood that the Commodore had to leave. The possible destruction of the ship was more important to prevent than the lives of the four crewmembers, who were temporarily stabilized and would die if the ship was defeated anyway. Still, a small part of Illito resented the fact that the ship was being fired on, they were so close to rescuing the crewmembers, and Illito didn’t feel that she was in any imminent danger. Illito realized that her parents probably hadn’t felt any imminent danger right before they had died-they had been civilians, neither revolutionaries nor working with the Dominion, at least, that was what her brother had told her. In truth, Illito didn’t know her parents part in the war, just as she didn’t know their part in the Bajoran Occupation. She didn’t want to know, she was afraid of what she might find, and she didn’t think what they had done had any bearing on her own life-even if they were heroes, she had never met them, they had died too young to be a major part of raising her.
As the ship rocked once again and the first wounded were brought to sickbay, Illito stepped away from the comatose Ensign she had been scanning, in the hopes that this scan would bring different results-good results-than the last four from various other members of the staff, with various other tricorders had. Of course, Illito realized that if her results had been different, that would likely mean that her tricorder was broken.

“Commodore, thank you for coming,” Illito said.
"Goodday doctor, how can I help you?"
“Yes, of course. Commander Dunsmore and the rest of his team is in a coma, and it’s quite possible that you could help them recover,” Illito said, getting straight to the point.
"What is their condition? And how can I help?"
“They have been affected by a weak neural charge that was emitted by the structure they were in, that charge has become embedded in their neural pathways. "I would need some time to prepare for this. I have never used my mindmeld skills on comatoze patients before."
“This isn’t something I would usually ask of you, but I’m not sure that they can recover on their own,” Illito explained.
"I see. I will have to seclude myself for about an hour. Then I may be ready."
Just then the ship shuddered as it was hit by weapons fire. "Commodore T'Mar and all available senior staff report to the bridge immediately."
"I'm needed on the bridge. How long will the patients be stable?"
“The patients will be fine for at least four hours,” Illito said, deliberately underestimating to give as large a safety margin as possible. “So if you’re needed on the bridge, they should be fine if you’re able to return soon. As for myself, I doubt I would be much use on the bridge, I can do much more here. T'Mar nodded. "I will be on the bridge if you need me."
T'Mar hurried to the bridge, while the red alert was whining. As she arrived the Romulan ships started their attack. The ship rocked but damage was minimal. "Return fire!" she said. "Disable them so we can learn more about what they were doing here." But the Romulan ships went into warp and out of sight.
"Shall we pursue them?" commander Cavit asked. T'Mar shook her head. "Space stations will monitor their course. We have to expose what they were doing here and remove the evidence." "Right" Cavit nodded. "Now that the entire Federation is on alert about these rogues, it won't be long till they're caught." "This will cause a riot with the Romulan Star Empire, perhaps even armed conflict. These vessels are no match for ours, they will be caught and used in the negotiations. The Romulan authorities will refuse any hand in these operations and won't tell us anything. But no matter, this may be resolved peacefully and we'll get to the answers anyway. The evidence is down there, I'm sure they've left logs." "I'll take another team down to dismantle the place" Cavit said. T'Mar nodded. "Gather as much evidence as possible" she said. Then she went back to sickbay to inquire about Illito's request.

OCC: Okay, I posted that the Tomal had stayed behind and I hope that still happens, lol. So I will work with what Commodore T'Mar gave me adn go from there.
IC:
It was now only Commander Cavit, Paikea, Katie, and a helmsman on the bridge. Commodore T'Mar had ordered them to go down to their secret base and find anything they could, but as Paikea scanned the area he knew that there wasn't going to be anything. The explosion had caused a half a mile crater into the ground.
As Paikea read this, his sensors chirped at him as the Tomal came back from warp and attacked the ship.
"Who is that?" Cavit asked as she pressed the Red Alert command.
"It is the Tomal, one of the rogue ships that just left," Paikea said before they were hit head on, by the Romulan phasers. The weapons systems weren't as advance as the Scavenger, but a head on attack still caused damage.
"Shield down to 86%," Katie reported as the ship rocked again. Commander Cavit quickly took over the tactical station and started to fire on the Tomal.
A D'deridex was still huge, and it overshadowed the Scavenger like a parent does to a baby. The Scavenger's orange phaser fire hit the Tomal at an angle, but still caused damage.
Yet that didn't matter, as they did a 180 and continued firing all they had. There was a huge explosion on the Scavenger which even jolted Paikea onto the floor.
"Report." T'Mar said as she came back from sickbay.
"Deck 20 recived critical damage, reports say that we have 13 critical injuries, emergency shileds are holding, but they won't for long," Katie reported as sparks flew everywhere.
"Arm quantum torpedoes, fire a full barrage," T'Mar said. As Paikea saw the viewscreen he saw a dozen torpdoes come out from the Scavenger and hit the Tomal. The Romulan ship was illuminated, not by the orginal green glow of romulan ships, but of blue and yellow light. The ship exploded which blinded the bridge.
"Commodore there is a shockwave coming from the ship, we won't escape ....." Paikea said as the ship rocked again, but luckily for them the wave was not as powerful as he had thought.
"Survivors?" Commodore T'Mar asked.
"No, scans show no suvivors," Paikea reported as he checked internal scans once again.
"Commodore I recommend that we turn back," Paikea said," we won't be able to discover anything down on the planet, there is a crater where the base used to be and we have critical injuries."

Illito rushed around sickbay, trying to be everywhere and once, and realizing that she was failing miserably. Fortunately there were people she trusted to do some of the healing, though Illito wished that that wasn’t necessary; she wished that there were less people injured, but the only thing she could do about that was heal as many of them as she could.

Lt. Commander Aeryn Gray, the Bolian temporary Chief Engineer, since the Chief Engineer was in a coma, glanced at the readings coming from the bridge. =^=Main Engineering to bridge=^=
=^=Go ahead engineering=^=
=^=We can’t take many more hits, we may be forced to retreat,=^= she said.

Upon learning that the battle was over, Aeryn suppressed the desire to issue a few very powerful curses, and forced a smile, but it was a good thing the people on the bridge couldn’t see her. The smile looked very forced. =^=Thank you for telling me that. That information is very useful to my job, =^= she managed to keep a good deal of the venom out of her voice, but she regretted that some of it must have carried. Engineering was one of the more dangerous places during an attack, and it helped her a lot to know when that attack was over.
=^=Are we going to pursue the other Romulan ship? =^= she asked, that seemed like a very bad idea to her, but she didn’t know everything that was going on in the ship.

There was silence on the bridge as everyone looked onto the debris that used to be the Tomal. Even the claxons seemed to be drowned away. If it wasn't for the beeping of his console Paikea would of never known that engineering was hailing them. Yet he realized that he was mistaken which turned out to be a benifical mistake.
The following conversation was a bit strange. When he shared the tactical information with the acting CEO, she seemed to be hostile and mean, but then again he could just be imaginng things.
Paikea had recommended that the Scavenger hed back home, but he didn't expect the damage to the ship to be so serious. The battle and the ensuing shockwave must of damaged the ship more than he had orginally thought.
"Well Commodore what are we going to do?" Paikea asked. T'Mar was sittign there contemplating her next desecion. Would we stay here and risk the enemy coming back or hea back home for repairs.
"Helm turn us around, Warp 4, Starbase Assailant," T'Mar ordered," Lt. Apirana go down to engineering and help them out with repairs."
"Yes ma'am," Paikea said as he got off his chair and went into the turbolift.
"Main Engineering" The trip down was of course short as were most rides in the contrapation. He reached his destination in a mere seconds and entered engineering.
There was a flurry of activity and controlled choas and when he saw this Paikea remembered that he had never been in the Scavenger's engine room. In fact he had only been in four places: the lounge, bridge, sickbay, and his quarters.
"Who is in charge here?" Paikea asked.

OFF: This is a Joint Point between Illito and myself.
“At the moment, that’s me.” Aeryn answered. “I’m Lt. Commander Gray, and since a large amount of the engineering crew is in a coma, that left me in charge.” Aeryn then realized that she recognized the voice as the person she had talked to on the com channel.
“I’d like to apologize for my behavior on the com channel, I didn’t expect to have to take charge of any of this, I’m only third in command normally.” Aeryn realized that she was babbling a little, but she just felt very…stressed.
"Don't worry about it Commander we are stressed out by the current situation," Paikea said responding to the women's little speech.
“Thank you,” Aeryn replied, then, since he obviously hadn’t come down to talk about that, she wondered what this person was doing in Engineering, and when he would leave so she could get back to work.
"Commodore T'Mar sent me down here to help you out, since like you yourself said you are misssing four engineering staff members," Paikea said noticing that he was making the commander uncomfortable.
“Oh, thank you then,” Aeryn replied. “Do you have any previous expertise in Engineering?” she asked, trying to figure out what the best spot for the bridge officer would be. As well as what his name was.
"I have basic Engineering training, and I will go anywhere that I can help, I am not picky," Paikea said trying to come off a bit more friendly that most usual bridge officers. "By the way I'm Lt. Paikea Apirana."
“OK,” Aeryn said, thinking. “I need someone to help with fixing the thrusters. We’re going to need impulse in order to dock with the station, and at this moment I’m not sure we can do that.” Aeryn walked him over to a station. “My guess is going to be that you have more experience with working with computer systems, which is good, since that’s a position that needs filling. You should be able to identify problems from here, some of which you’ll be able to fix, but some of which you’ll need to contact a member of engineering to have them do the physical repairs. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me,” Aeryn said, more as a matter of principal than that she actually was willing to be interrupted, though that was better than having the ship blow up. But she was just rushing around, trying to do everything at once anyway, and she was willing to help someone in exchange for having someone else to help.
Paikea nodded as the Commander was telling him this, but he couldn't help but notice the inner workings workings of this engineering team. No one was paying attention to him or what the commander was saying. They were hard at work and didn't have tiem to deal with him. Paikea really respected this and was glad that Commander Luke had run a great team.
So here we was looking at the computer console in front of him. It was telling him that the plasma conduits leading towards the engine were not cooling correctly. So he did as he was told and reported this to one of the engineering staff. Once he told the person the news travelled all along the rooom until it reached the person that would be best qualified to fix the problem.
"Lt. get back to work," an engineering member told him as they noticed him looking at the staff.
"Yes of course," Paikea said as he once again began looking for repairs and trying to fix them.

Aeryn was working on the warp core, and trusting that the rest of the crew were handling other areas, when she heard quiet. Not complete quiet, there was still the reassuring hum of the warp core and the efficient hum of people talking, but focused on their work. Then she heard a click, and felt herself sticking to the floor once again.
=/\=Bridge to Engineering.=/\=
=/\=This is Engineering, go ahead,=/\= Aeryn replied, already able to guess what the bridge was going to say.
=/\=What just happened?=/\=
=/\=Life support, including gravity, failed, but the emergency systems came up,=/\= Aeryn answered. From the silence on the other end, she could tell that they wanted a further explanation, but she wasn’t going to make excuses, since she wasn’t yet sure why it had happened. =/\=We should have the main system back up within 15 minutes=/\= Aeryn said, quickly scanning the damage, and looking around at what people were available.
=/\=Thank you. Bridge out,=/\= came the reply
Aeryn gathered a team of three, including herself, then remembered the bridge officer. “Lt. Apirana, can you help us with something?” she asked.
<Tag Paikea>
“It’s outside your expertise, but we need to get life support back up as soon as possible, and you can probably help,” she said, hoping that he would be able to help. Life support wasn’t all that hard to maintain, in general, the system was built to be redundant. But something had happened to cause it to fail, and the first issue was to find out what had happened. And for that, the more people looking at the problem the better. That would probably also hold true for the repair phase.
<Tag Paikea>

In Sickbay, Illito felt gravity vanish for a few seconds, before stabilizing. She could tell that there was a problem with engineering and life support, but there wasn’t anything she could do about it. One of her patients seemed to feel differently.
“Did you feel that?” he demanded of her. “Life support turned off, they’ve got it on the emergency system now. I could help fix it, if I wasn’t trapped here.”
“But your leg is injured, and rather severely,” Illito objected, trying to be reasonable. Not that she was sure it would make that much of a difference, while she could keep people from duty she didn’t like to have to.
“My leg, not my life. If worst comes to worst, I’ll probably just lose it. But the ship will still be here.”
Illito shook her head in disapproval. Losing a leg didn’t seem like a good idea. “It will take me five minutes to heal your leg to the extent that you can walk on it without causing further damage. You will, as soon as life support is back online, return here immediately.” Illito’s words were not a request, and she wondered why she was even letting the patient do this much. Maybe because she knew how useless it could feel to sit in a sickbay, and maybe because she thought he might be able to help stop the ship from exploding, and maybe because she was reluctant to keep people in sickbay against their will, even if it was for the best. Whatever the reason, five minutes later she released him, after he gave the promise to return. Illito didn’t really trust the promise, but she thought that trust was a thing it would help her to learn.

“You’re back,” Aeryn greeted the returning officer, Ensign Fiaable. “How’s your leg?”
“Fine,” Fiaable said. “But I have to go back to sickbay when this is over.”
Aeryn nodded, intending to make sure he returned later, but not arguing with his presence now. “You probably noticed, main life support is down.
“Yeah. What can I do about it?”
“There’s the engineering panel near the shuttle bay,” she started to explain, and he nodded.
“Consider me already in the midst of fixing it,” he said.

OCC: Merry Christmas to everyone and hopefully we can start a brand new mission to begin the year. ;D
On:
Paikea felt a horrible feeling, he didn't know how to explain it, but it left as soon as it came. Once he was able to he quickly ran a systems scan. Things were getting worse for the crew of the Scavenger, life support and artificial gravity had gone offline. The only reason that they could stand and breathe now was because of the back up systems.
During this time Commander Gray was explaining this to the bridge. Yet he knew that she didn't know the entire facts.
“Lt. Apirana, can you help us with something?” she asked.
"Of course I can," Paikea said as he walked up to the commander. He still didn't know the acting CEO, but he already respected her.
“It’s outside your expertise, but we need to get life support back up as soon as possible, and you can probably help,” she said, hoping that he would be able to help.
"Yes of course I'll help," Paikea said as he looked at the specs of the ship. The Scavenger was a Vagabond class ship, which was really two ships in one, the hospital ship and the weapon ship. Paikea could easily go to secondary part of the ship, but he knew that there would be no justifiable reason for him to be there.
"If you need any help please contact me," the commander said leaving Paikea to head towards environmental control. Paikea quickly got there knowing that if the back up systems went down they wouldn't be able to move.
As he was looking at the controls, he found himself mentally thanking his instructors at the academy. They had taken a week out of their lesson plans to teach them how to repair these types of systems. Paikea then had thought that they had been working on out dated systems, but as luck would have it; it was the exact model he had worked on at the Academy.
After about ten minutes he had fixed the entire problem, it seemed as the relays had fused together
=^=Apirana to Bridge and Engineering, I have fixed environmental controls=^=
=^=Good work Lt. report back to engineering=^=
=^=Understood=^=
Paikea was about to leave, but he heard a moan coming from deeper inside. He almost didn't believe that he had heard anything, but there it was again.
"Computer is there anyone in this room or any adjourning rooms?"
"Yes there are two people, Lt. Apirana and Crewman Horace."
"Where is Crewman Horace?"
"He is located in Jefferies tube 453.2."
Paikea ran towards the opening of the jefferies tube and when he opened it he saw an injured crewman, who he took to be crewman Horace. There were instruments and scanners all over the place. Paikea quickly checked over the man and saw a discoloration on his head.
=^=Apirana to sickbay, teleport myself and crewman Horace to sickbay immediately=^=
The next second Paikea felt himself being transported along side the crewman. When the transport was complete medics and doctor Tintagel was quickly along side the man.
"Is he going to be okay?" Paikea asked.

OCC: I chose to explain some of the specs of the ship, since I don’t think most of us really know it. I have PM someone asking them if there was anyway to update the specs which aren’t good at all.
