Mira shuddered at the thought of inspecting the weapons by hand again. Though control was something else, she would most certainly not go alone. The last time she went to attend to something alone was still very vivid in her mind. "Aye sir," she replied timidly, "I'll get ensign Meriadoc to accompany me when her duties permit it also. I'll see to it as soon as possible sir, once we're clear of dock."
It didn't take long, in the young chief's opinion to get out of dock, and once she had plotted her course she got up from her seat. "Permission to attend to other given duties sir?" she asked, standing at attention. Once permission was given, she paged the ensign and the two set off to weapons control.

"Wundt, could you get the Operations officer down here?" asked John. "I need to give him the updates for our roster, and his physical is outdated."
"Sure, I'll give him a call." Wundt paged the Bridge for Santos.
John was worried. Now Beta's shift was down one person, and though statistically the least ammount of medical emergencies occured during Beta shift it meant John was more likely to need to run back to Sickbay once in a while. A bunch of engineers, who had apparently been working very quickly, had been severly injured when a particularly large conduit blew - John wasn't sure why. All had third degree burns, and some had pieces of metal sticking into them. John's whole team had been busy, and after that John had sent nurse Fiorella to go monitor Main Engineering, in the likely case that more got themselves messed up.
The big problem was the sheer size of the Excalibur. Engineers were running all over the place, trying to make it the most up-to-date ship in the fleet, and most were using tools that, if improperly handled or jostled at the wrong time, would result in anything from a minor cut to a heart attack. Stationing one nurse in Main Engineering wouldn't come close to solving the problem, but it might help.
Santos showed up soon after being called. "You need me to update something, doc? I thought you could just punch it into your computer."
"I'm not really familiar with the job," explained John. "I er, sort of got it right when we left. Dr. Kwani accepted an opening at Starfleet Academy."
"Oh, okay. Want the manual?" offered Santos.
"Yes, that would be great," said John eagerly. "I would really appreciate that. Thank you."
"No problem," said Santos. "I could probably call it up right now, from your station. Are you good with computers?"
"Better than most doctors, I'm told, but probably nowhere near your level, or our Chief Science Officer," replied John. "I can do everything I need to, and then some, but my problem right now is not knowing the proper protocool. If you could get me the manual, that would be a big help."
"No problem." Santos sat down at John's desk and pulled up the document within half a minute, then downloaded it onto a PADD and gave that to John. "A bit lengthy, I'm afraid."
"That's fine," said John. "Thank you. Ah, I almost forgot. I need to give you a physical."

James: Mr Lewis have all personnel report to their stations and give me a status report from all departments and stations. We will be leaving dock as soon as all supplies and personnel are aboard.
Lewis: Aye sir; Mr Santos you heard the Captain lets get things underway
"Understood sir," Ephrem responded from his station. This would be the first time that he would be doing this, but everything felt normal. He sent out messages to all Department Heads to report and systems reported an all clear. They would be ready to leave immediately if that was what the Captain wanted.
"Captain all systems are giving us a clear," Ephrem reported.
<Tag RJ>
After completing the first task at hand Ephrem once again began relaying transmissions and running scans on all non essential systems.
=^=Lt. Santos could you please report sickbay, the doctor request your assistance=^=
=^=Understood, Santos out=^= Ephrem looked towards the direction of his Captain and once he had acknowledged him, Ephrem was on his way.
Ephrem had only met Dr. Kwani once and he hoped to meet the doc once again, but once he entered sickbay he saw that the good doc was no longer there, but a new CMO, John Mann the former head nurse of the Excalibur.
Ephrem went on to help out Doctor Mann with his records and gave him the Doctor's manual. When he saw how big the file was he instantly became grateful that he had chosen communications instead of medical which is father wanted him to do. As he handed the Doctor the PADD, Ephrem was already making a V-line out the door.
"That's fine," said John. "Thank you. Ah, I almost forgot. I need to give you a physical."
Ephrem couldn't believe his bad luck. He had always hated physicals, that was one of the major reasons that he dropped out of medical school.
"Come on doctor do I have to do today?" Ephrem asked pleading with the man.
"I'm afraid so," the doc responded. "If I want to do a good job I should do everything the manual says and look here on line two it says give all crew and guest on board a vessel a complete physical."
"Well then Doctor do you worst," Ephrem said as he sat down and awaited for the prodding to begin.

John checked him quickly with the tricorder, asked him whether he worked out very much - "Every other day... at least, I plan to." - took a small sample of blood, which turned out to be perfectly normal in all areas, with the notable exception...
"You eat too much sugar, Ephrem," said John. "If you actually worked out every other day, which is what I recommend, you'll be in fine shape. As it is, I can't really tell you anything's wrong, but it would be good for you to work out a little more or cut down on the sugar intake."
Ephrem stared. "That's it?"
"Um, yeah. Why?" John checked mentally to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything, and it seemed everything was fine.
"Well, its just that... with the last couple physicals I had..." Santos had a hard time explaining, but John understood instantly, and laughed.
"You've been around too many doctors like Kwani," explained John. "Be glad she isn't around to give you your physical. She better than me at everything else, but I think she gets bored, and... takes her time getting through a very thorough examination."
"Ah. So I'm fine, nothing's wrong?" asked Ephrem.
"Like I said, either get to the gym more, or-"
"How often do you get to the gym, doc?" asked Ephrem, looking at John with a puzzled expression. It was true that John was not as physically strong as, say, James or Ephrem.
"See, this is why I'm in medical and not walking around carrying big, heavy objects. I carry tricorders, not warp cores or Ambassadors' suitcases." John scowled when he thought about Admiral... Barr, was it? His suitcases had weighed a ton!
Ephrem grinned. "Yeah, well, maybe you should hit the gym more often. Ever heard of weights?"
"I blame it on genetics," said John. "Actually, I got lucky, because a couple of my uncles were crippled from birth... weighed about half as much as I do, and much shorter. But the point is, its not my fault. And I am within the normal range of weight for my height." Barely.
"Sure you are. Listen, I play tennis sometimes. It's not the same as the weightroom, but-"
"In a minutes I'm going to go blast holes in every weight I see," growled John, quickly tiring of that subject. This only served to amuse Ephrem more. John sighed. "Singles or doubles, and when?"

Mira and Meriadoc crawled through the cramped spaces of the ship that led towards the main phaser emitter. Each was brandishing a type II phaser, for one could never know what one was going to find when conducting inspections.
The young chief had no idea what James expected to find during inspections, but it was better to be safe than sorry. The two women emerged from a hatch and took a moment to stretch their limbs.
"Nothing but a good crawl huh?" Meriadoc chuckled as she gave her arms a good swing, and stretched her back.
Mira followed suit and chuckled as well. "One could wonder why we need a gym, with this much practice around the ship," she commented, then walked over to the console near the access point towards the phaser emitter. "Uh oh," she said, then flipped open her communicator. "captain, I dearly hope you're not planning on battle anytime soon. Someone's tampered with the emitter, though I can't be certain on what the damage is."
She exchanged a look with Meriadoc, who had strode over to the nearest companel. "Meriadoc to engineering, send a team down to phaser emitter one. We've got a situation that needs your immediate attention!"

*RJ sat in his ready room going over the reports from the engineering teams. Flipping a switch on his desk>>>*
James: Captains log supplemental; after reviewing the reports from the engineering teams I get a strange feeling that we have a saboteur aboard; or some of the people from the star base are more incompetent than 3 year cadets. I have sent Chief Green to inspect the weapons systems. Some might question that move after the last incident in the torpedo launcher. But as my great grandmother always said if the horse throws you get right back on it and teach it who is boss. "
Green: "captain, I dearly hope you're not planning on battle anytime soon. Someone's tampered with the emitter, though I can't be certain on what the damage is."
James: "Stand by I am on my way" Computer end recording.
*RJ left his ready room and as he headed for the turbo lift he called to the XO ...*
James: XO Intruder alert Baker 3; have a security team meet me on deck 11 in phaser control with an engineering tricorder and type 2 phaser.
*RJ entered the turbo lift and headed for deck 11.*

Mira had no idea what was going on but she knew at least one thing: she was not going to give the weapons a manual check up, not without the captain directly telling her to do so.
"Chief, you ok?" Meriadoc asked, shaking her forcibly. She gazed at the teenager, who'd gone as pale as a sheet, as she was standing before a hatch, hand half-stretched towards it.
"What?" Mira asked, shaking her head in confusion. "Oh yes, I'm fine thank you, it's just that..." She fell silent, and was saved by the bell as security officers entered the weapons control room, followed by Captain James.
"Something's wrong," she reported, her voice betraying her fear, "but..." She fell silent again. "I'm afraid to go in there," she admitted, "I've no idea what's going on though." She pointed at the erratic readings on the console. "Something's wrong," she repeated, "but it's unlike anything I've seen before."

*As RJ entered the control room, he noticed that Chief Green was visibly shaken. *
James: Good job chief; *turning to the engineering team.* let me see that tricorder. *RJ began to study the door beyond between the control room and the pharser emitters. Ok every body out fall back to the Jeffreys tube. "James to Engineering; seal deck 9 section 20 alpha and vent to space.
Engineering: Aye sir;....ah sir the over rides are not responding.
James: Ok Chief follow me and grab that tool kit.
*RJ took off down the hall to the 1st intersection where a Jeffery's tube exited onto the deck and started to climb, stopping about half way up.*
James: Ok chief take off the access panel marked c45, and hand me a magnetic probe.
<tag Green>
James: Ok now see the odn cable marked p9a20... now when I tell you cut it with the odn seperator....... *RJ inserted the magnetic probe into the odn junction and turned it to the reset positon*...now Chief.
<tag chief>
Engineering: "CEO to Capitan I am showing coolant venting from the main phaser bay. Bulkheads are holding; I have dispatched a damage control team."
James: "Good I'll instruct them when they get here." What do we have here? *RJ saw a spot of green on the access grill.* Chief have the security chief hand you a sample collection kit. *As RJ received the kit he took a sample of the spot and climbed out of the Jeffreys tube.* Mr Jones this is a crime Sean. Have this blood analyzed I need to know if it is Vulcan or Romulin? I know we do not have alot of info on the Romulins but have medical help. Sweep this whole area for anything that does not belong. Chief Green report to sick bay, after they release you and you get at least 6 hours of sleep see me on the bridge.
<tag Green>
*RJ turned and headed for the Bridge; as he arrived on the bridge..*
James: Stand down from intruder alert and set the night watch. Helm eta to K 7 ?
Helm: Sir at present speed; 12 hours 34 minutes.
James: Ok ; XO you have the con for the Gama shift if I remember correctly; I'll be in my ready room.
*RJ entered his ready room, looked at the couch and shook his head, then sat behind his desk and started going over the incoming reports on the latest incident.

James: Ok chief take off the access panel marked c45, and hand me a magnetic probe.
"A what sir?" she querried, as she took the panel offline. Once the captain had explained what tool he wanted to have, she rummaged through the nearest engineering kit and handed him the required tool. At that moment, she felt really stupid not knowing what he had meant but part of her mind rebeled and told her that after all she was no engineer but a tactician.
James: Ok now see the odn cable marked p9a20... now when I tell you cut it with the odn seperator....... *RJ inserted the magnetic probe into the odn junction and turned it to the reset positon*...now Chief.
"ODN separator?" Mira echoed, as the nearest engineer handed her the required tool with a slight smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Ah right, yes well ahem, done sir. What now?"
<snip>
James: Chief Green report to sick bay, after they release you and you get at least 6 hours of sleep see me on the bridge.
"Again sir?" Mira asked, looking somewhat disappointed. It wasn't that she didn't like going to sickbay because she did as John Mann generally was present in sickbay. Yet she didn't like going there as a patient, not when she'd spent enough time in there as such already. At James' stern glance she nodded. "Aye sir. Shall I take that sample with me for analysis? I'm certain John Mann will want to see this crime scene."
<James>
With a final nod, though not entirely happy, Mira Green left the weapon control room and sauntered to sickbay. "Guess what," she muttered as she walked in, "you're to keep me here unless you think me fit for duty." She started explaining what had happened, then handed Mann the vial containing the green matter. "Captain James wants this analysed yesterday. He thinks he's got a crime scene."

"Guess what," said a familiar voice, "you're to keep me here unless you think me fit for duty." John turned to see Mira walking towards him with a small vial. Mira, who looked a little unhappy, started explaining what had happened, then handed Mann the vial containing the green matter. "Captain James wants this analysed yesterday. He thinks he's got a crime scene."
"Okay," said John, taking the vial and handing it to Wundt for analysis. "First things first, I suppose. Do you want to go back to the Bridge?"
(Mira)
"Feel free," said John. "Now this blood sample..."
"Definitely Vulcan," said Wundt. "Looks like its only a few hours old, could be half a day, though. Hard to tell. And I think we should look over where this was found. There could be more of something that was overlooked by the people that found this."
"I doubt we'll find anything, but it would be good to go check, just in case. What's security doing about this?" John asked Mira.
(Mira)
"Hmm. We don't have very many Vulcans on board, do we?"
Wundt checked a computer quickly. "One moment... looks like twenty-three. A fair number, but we'll find a match for this blood sample. It looks to be female, and there's only eight people this blood could belong to, then..."
While Wundt was busy, John shot Mira a concerned look and asked her quietly, "You okay? You seem a little shaken."

"Okay," said John, taking the vial and handing it to Wundt for analysis. "First things first, I suppose. Do you want to go back to the Bridge?"
"Of course," Mira shot back, "but that doesn't seem to be James' idea. He wants you to give me a medical exam, and keep me here until you think it's medically advisable to send me back.
"Feel free," said John. "Now this blood sample..."
"Just like that huh," Mira grunted, but didn't budge. If Captain James wanted a med exam done, then that was what he was going to get.
"As I just said, they're treating the spot where it's found as a crime scene. I would recommend sending a forensics team to investigate it before those security oafs mess the scene up," she grunted, not entirely happy with the whole situation.
"No kidding," she said, almost crying now. Her face was ashen and she was trembling all over her body. "How would you feel when, after you've nearly been shot out of a torpedo tube only days ago, you get sent back there to manually check the weapons again. It's no fun, I'll tell you. I really don't know why he sent me back there......"

John didn't know what to say. "You don't need to check the torpedo tubes that often, do you? It won't be a problem-"
Mira shook her head. "But that's my job, I'm supposed to be able to do that sort of thing, not be afraid of it."
"I'm sure it won't be that bad next time," said John. "You probably won't need to go in there again for a couple months, and by then maybe it won't be as intimidating." He had no advice to offer, so all he could do was be there for her. And Wundt was about to finish with his test, so John would be busy with the forensics team. "I think you should get some rest, and something light to eat. You'll be okay."
(Mira)
"Um, John?" said Wundt. "I found who's this is. Ensign Sailvaiis. Engineering."
"Good. Take it to the security department, and help them any way you can. Piert?" John called, raising his voice.
"Yes?" answered the other nurse from the other side of Sickbay.
"I need you to grab a couple other people and put a forensics team together. Assemble the team on deck 11 in phaser control. I'll meet you there." John turned back to Mira. "I'll walk you back to your quarters. I'm not confining you to them, but do try and get some sleep. If you want, I could drop by after my shift's over."
(Mira)
********************************************* Later...
"Security's found no trace of Ensign Sailvaiis, sir," said Wundt. "They told me to stay out of the way while they interview everyone who knows her."
"Okay," said John, slightly nervous. "Piert, Pierce, you two go and sweep the Jefferis tubes for any sign of anyone who hasn't been there just now with the security team. Wundt, you take the torpedo tube. Smithers, you stay right here and make sure no one comes in and trys to blow Wundt out into space."
"What a comforting idea," muttered the other nurse beneath his breath.
Smithers frowned. "That must not happen very often."
John ignored him. "I'll scan this room, and then find out what security's discovered. Let's work quickly, people."
"Yes, sir," said Pierce and Piert in unison. Wundt muttered something about "damned torpedo tubes."
After scanning the room, John was ready to call security and ask for an update when someone screamed in the Jefferis tube. Wundt and Smithers, who had finished checking the torpedo tube and found nothing definite, were already inside as John started towards it.
When the three nurses got to Peirce and Piert, all of them turned away in disgust. Smithers gagged. A small pool of hydrolic acid was on the floor, a hole where the acid had eaten through part of the ship. A very little green blood was on the walls.
"Liquified," said Wundt, eyes eide. Pierce was helping Piert out of the tube. The young nurse seemed very upset, and John was willing to bet she wasn't going to get much sleep tonight.
"Okay," he said, calming himself. "Smithers, Wundt, stay here. Try and find any evidence of her killer. I'll get security if Pierce already hasn't."

The young tactician wasn't too convinced; the idea that people who didn't seem to be who they ought to be were walking around the ship irked her, but also scared her. It was bad enough being a tactician who's afraid of manually checking the weapons systems, she didn't need this knowledge added to her problems.
"I'm not hungry," she protested, "and I don't feel tired either!" Promptly, she yawned and blushed. "Oh all right, perhaps I am just a little tired, but that's just stress, honestly!"
Mira saw that her friend wasn't convinced, and seemed adamant on escorting her to her quarters. She knew if there was going to be an argument about it, it was one she was most certainly going to lose. "I'd like that," she said at last, in response to his offer of coming by later. "and if you see the captain, tell him I'm sorry? I really can't face him right now, I'm too embarassed."
She stayed close to John as he escorted her to her quarters. She desperately wanted to invite him in, but she knew he had important work to do. At last, she just settled on a light kiss on the cheek. "Don't forget," she whispered, then closed the door.
The teenager stood in the middle of her room, feeling hopelessly miserable. She flopped down on her bed, not bothering to change her attire and cried herself to sleep.

OOC:
Sorry, but I'm new to this ship, and my character joins at K7 Station. However, in real life, I'm leaving for US Navy Basic Training in 12 days. Am I gonna have to wait until I get out of Basic before I have my character join and begin simming here? Just wondering.
Live long and prosper, Sorek out.
P.S. Sorry I didn't use an OOC thread.

XO: Bridge to Captain James, we are approaching Deep Space Station K7.
James: Ok take us into an extended parking orbit out of transporter range until we finish our investigation. Raise shields and have engineering cut power to all the transporters. Have security maintain intruder sweeps and keep us at cq3. Notify Captain Norman of the Cincinnati that I will fill him in as soon as I get to the bridge. I've noticed a couple of strange readings from the deuterium storage tanks, I want to take a look at the sensor buss.
XO: Aye sir ; do you want me to send a security team to back you up?
James: No it will only take a few minutes, James out.
*RJ proceeded out of engineering and entered the access ladder to the lower levels. Exiting on deck 15. Rounding the last corner RJ noticed the doors to storage room had been forced open. As he was pulling out his communicator and phaser type 2 something hit him in the right shoulder causing his arm to go numb and loose his grip on the phaser. As RJ turned to face his attacker he noticed that there were two of them and the one on the left held a knife that was dripping blood. RJ felt something warm running down his back, realizing he was badly wounded he backed up hitting the wall and then slid down the wall and looked at his two attackers as they advanced for the kill RJ noticed that they looked like Vulcan, but they were smiling. The one on the right bent down to retrieve RJ's fallen phaser; RJ bent over like he passed out then pulling a hold out phaser one from his boot he shot both of the attackers. Opening the communicator ...*
James: James to sick bay....deck 15 I think I need a little help oh.................
Mann: Yes Captain, Captian..... <tag CMO>
OFF: I will try to keep the story moving better, sory I have been sick with a sinus infection on top of more surgery to remove those stupid basel cells. (non miligant skin cancers.) James

It had taken a while, but they had finally cleaned up the mess left behind by the young Vulcan. Both security and medical had failed to find any trace of her killer. John was about to go visit Mira when the Captain's voice was heard...
James: "James to sick bay....deck 15 I think I need a little help oh................."
Mann: "Yes Captain. Captian? Can you hear me? Sir? Wundt, come here, we have a medical emergency! Piert, stay here and prepare for the worst."
John and Wundt hurried to where the Captain had called from. Security was already there. Two Vulcans - or Romulans, perhaps? - lay on the ground fairly close to the Captain, who was unconcious. Another was firing at the security team. Two of the security officers were dead, and a third was staggaring back. Wundt took him and started to help him away. John dived toward the Captain and started pulling him away. The remaining Romulan or Vulcan, trying to hit John, stood up a little too much and was shot in the forehead by one of the security officers.
RJ's arm looked very bad. The shot had blown the shoulder vlean of the socket, and John would need to put some metal in where the bone had been destroyed. It wasn't life-threatening, but the Captain would be out of it for a while. Pierce arrived soon, and with Wundt (who had healed the wounded security officer) they carried the Captain back to Sickbay.
"Get those three to Sickbay, and then put this ship on red alert. Post guards at all shuttle bays, transporter rooms, the Bridge, Sickbay, and anywhere else you deem important." John himself ran after the Captain. He'd need to operate on him, and have someone analyse the dead Romulan's or Vulcan's blood, to determine what exactly they were. It was going to be a busy day.
OFF: Sorry its short, I'm pressed for time. I'll try to add more later today or tomorrow.

Sorek was resting in his temporary quarters aboard the station, when he recieved a message to report to Shuttlebay 2 for transfer over to the Excalibur. He picked up his two small luggage bags, and made his way towards there.
It took 20 minutes for the ship's security to clear him to come over. And even then, it was under the provision he would be searched upon arrival. The shuttle arrived at the Constitution Class vessel around half an hour later. Sorek still couldn't quite believe he had been posted on such a prestigious ship, much less as the CEO. He was sure it had something to do with his superiors back on Romulous, or with his contact. Whom he suspected was also in Starfleet.
He was worried about having to be searched. Even though they could find nothing unless they gave the kind of search Starfleet Intelligence would give, it was very nervewracking to be searched this soon. Of course, he kept his "Vulcan" facade going the whole time. Not that it was hard: while he was outgoing before, ever since Romulan Intelligence (as that is who he assumed they were) had done to him what they did, he had been very withdrawn and leery of showing emotion of any kind.
The secutity gaurds were began to search him and his luggage within seconds of his departing the shuttle. They also searched the shuttle and the pilot. They found nothing, and gave him instructions to his quarters. He dropped off his stuff, not bothering to unpack, and made his way towards the bridge to report.
He foud the XO sitting in the center chair, and snapped to attention: "Chief Engineering Officer Ensign Sorek reporting for duty, sir!." He handed over his orders.
The Commander read over them, and gave them his approving signature. "Ensign," he said, handing the orders back, "you'll need to report to Sick Bay for a physical. They are a bit busy right now, so they may take their time getting to you. Then you'll have to get to Engineering and get the process of having it handed over to you started."
"Yes sir."
Sorek had just began to turn around when the XO seemed to remember something: "Oh, and Ensign. Something has recently come up, and we may have to interview all Vulcans aboard the ship. Since you weren't aboard until now, you might be exempted from that. Just wait for further orders on that."
"Yes sir," Sorek said, before entering the turbolife. "Sick Bay." Getting searched and possible "interviewed" in the first day of his arrival? That didn't have him looking forward to the rest of his assignment. Of course, he was curious as to what might require interviewing all Vulcans aboard the ship. He would just have to wait and see.
The turbolift doors opened, and he exited, allowing enough room for a Lieutenant to make his way through. Sorek addressed him with a quick "Sir" and continued to Sick Bay.
The doors to the large room revealed a fairly frantic scene. There were a few orderlies and nurses rushing around. Most didn't seem to be really doing anything, but they seemed a tad worried. Sorek hoped that nothing had happened. He walked in, and waited for someone to be ready to give him his physical, wondering what was causing all the fuss.

Mira woke with a start, and she had no idea how long she'd been asleep. Her uniform was wrinkled and her hair was tousled. She squinted as she tried to see into the darkness of her quarters. ~I don't remember shutting off the light~ she thought, as she reached for her communicator. The item felt comforting in her hand, as at the very least she could use it as a means to defend herself with.
The girl had the distinct feeling she was not alone in her cabin, and if asked she wouldn't be able to explain the feeling. It was instinct, honed from years of combat training. "H-hello?" she called, gripping the communicator tighter, not even thinking to use it to call for help. "S-somebody there?"
Mira quietly slid from her bed and crouched low to the deck, creeping around her cabin to where she kept a phaser hidden. Only then did she remember what purpose a communicator actually served and she opened it, cringing as the distinct sound most likely gave her position away. "Green to security," she called, her voice shaking with fear, "I think there's someone in my quarters......"

"All right, Piert, hold that steady while I start wielding it to the bone... that's it..." John focuesed in on the area and began joining the metal and bone together. The operation had gone extremely well so far. The Captain was all better, with the exception of his missing bone. John had extracted all the fragments, and was now replacing the missing bone with the appropriate material.
"Sir, we've confirmed the two dead are in fact Romulan, just like the other. Shall we leave them where they are?" asked Smithers.
"Yes, I'll be along to look at the survivor later... all right, I think we're finished here. Pierce, please finish patching our Captain up," said John.
"Yes, sir," said the nurse, moving in close to the damaged shoulder. "Shall I wake him once I'm finished?"
"No," replied John "let him rest. I'll be back in twenty minutes or so. Wundt, Smithers, take a short break and be back here when we wake up our Romulan friend. Pierce, Piert, you two can go once you're finished. Hello! Who are you?"
"Ensign Sorek," replied the man who stood in the doorway. "I have heard you are interviewing all Vulcans on board?"
"Yes... I didn't know you were assigned here," said John, confused.
"I only recently came on board," explained Sorek.
"Ahh... well, you probably couldn't have killed anyone if you weren't here. I would like to meet you later, if that's all right. You're an engineer?"
"Chief Engineer," specified Sorek.
"You'll like your people. I've met a couple, and they were both hard workers. Good luck here. I've got to run."
"Goodbye, Doctor," said Sorek as they both left.
When John got to Mira's quarters a couple security guards were there entering her room. It was dark. Confused, John hurried in after them.
Several shots were fired, and one of the security guards must have hit the lights. A Vulcan - no, a Romulan, he had a disruptor - hit the guard in the head, and the man sunk to the ground. The other guard was nowhere to be seen. Probably he'd been shot...
The Romulan turned his disruptor on John, and motioned to the closet. John obediantly shut himself in, and heard the door being welded shut behind him. It was only then that John noticed Mira, who was bleeding, was sitting next to him.

After the Doctor and Sorek had spoken, Sorek left. They were obviously quite busy right now, and not able to give him his physical. However, he would get it at a later time.
As his first task, he decided to go unpack his gear. It wouldn't take long, and his quarters weren't much of a detour from Main Engineering. He had few items. Main reason was that Vulcans didn't have much. Second was that any personal items may reveal his true identity. Only thing he had been able to keep (and only by making it a condition of him going through with the mission) was a necklace made of a black band and a small crystal at the end. (It was a crystal common to many worlds, and therefore untracable.) He kept it in his pocket at all times. He also had an IDIC token, to aid in his cover. Beyond that, it was just a few books and such.
After packing, he made his way to Engineering. He met with his new staff, was briefed on any particulars he would need to know about the Excalibur, and then briefed them on anything they should know. Introductions were made, and then it was time for Serok (or Sorel as his parents had named him) to make his inspection.
He inspected both Main Engineering, as well as the Impulse Room, and all the other important places. He wanted to get to know the Excalibur better than the back of his hand. He had a very hard time keeping his emotions in check as he felt the raw power of the ship when he layed his hands on the deck plating near the engine core. It sent shivers down his spine. He knew he would have fun here.
The inpection was just about up when he noticed some of the crew were nervous as he passed by a storage locker near the Impulse Reactor Room. On a hunch, he ordered the locker opened. In it was something that was not allowed (actually, it was more like "don't get caught and it's ok"): a still. "Can anyone tell me what this is?" Sorek ordered.
A young Ensign stepped forward. "Um...that's a still," he stammered.
"I can see that..." he got the name of the Ensign, "Ensign Roberto." Sorek kept his anger from showing. "Can you tell me whose it is?"
"Sorry, sir," Roberto was obviously very nervous. "It's mine."
"I want that put into the recycler, Ensign Roberto. Then, I am assigning you to janitorial duty in the Impulse Reactor Room for a week." On another hunch: "As well as your companions."
That comment brought a surprise reaction from some of those around him. By examinint their facial expressions, he was able to gather who they were. Upon questioning them, he proved himself right. "If I ever see this again, it'll be 2 weeks." He could tell the threat had the desired effect. And he suspected there wouldn't be any stills around for a while.
Everything was within Starfleet Regs, beyond the still of course, but Serok had been brought up to push the rules further. So he began formulating plans to increase the Excalibur's efficiency. His plans would work shipwide, making everything from engines to weapons to scanners better. He handed out intial assignments to his crew, and then went to his office to begin planning.

ooc: nice twist......but didye have to hurt her? closet -> the toilet type...or the wardrobe type? Im assuming latter..... Mira couldn't believe what had happened; though she had been certain someone had been in her quarters she couldn't find anyone after a careful but thorough inspection. Just after she had called security, the dark figure had appeared out of nowhere and had attacked her. ~why me~ she thought miserably, as the figure attacked her in the darkness. She winced as something hit her hard on her shoulder and she dropped back down to the deck, rubbing her shoulder gingerly. She fought like a lioness, using all her skills to fend her attacker off, but he was far better trained than she was and in the end she ended up receiving blow after blow, the last one hitting her hard on the head. She never knew when security showed up as she had blacked out temporarily. Only when John joined her did she realise she was locked up in her own closet. Her head was pounding and the rest of her body was also sore. "You too huh?" she whispered, "how are we going to get out of here? It won't open from the inside...." <mann?>

OOC: Your character is trained to choose fight over flight... bu maybe I should have had you take out the Romulan. And yes, I had a wardrobe in mind.
ON:
"I think he welded it shut with the security guard's phaser. I have a scaple I was using on the Captain... it will take a while to get through." John pulled the scaple out of his pocket. "That's all I have."
"The Captain?" asked Mira, concerned. "What happened to him?"
"There were some Romulans that attacked him," said John, depressed. "And once that other Romulan figures out what's going on, he'll bust his friend out of Sickbay - one of them was only stunned - and then we'll be in trouble. I hope they didn't get any more on board."
"We're in enough trouble right now," said Mira, taking the scaple and starting on the door where the landle was located. "This isn't working very well."
"I know," said John. "It's meant for cutting flesh, not metal."
"At this rate we'll never get out," said Mira. She pulled her arm back and stabbed at the door. The scaple punched through, but it was only a small hole. Satisfied with her work, Mira continued to produce more holes. The scaple was taking a beating.
Mira handed it to John. "Your turn," she said, tired. The fight with a Romulan had been exhausting. Mann nodded and began chiping away at the spots between the holes, knocking some of his own in between Mira's. Soon there was a hole almost big enough for John to get his hand through.
"I think that's enough," said Mira. John, confused, handed her the scaple and moved back, but Mira discarded the scaple, moved to the back of the small wardrobe, and kicked the door. It cracked in several places, and a second kick splintered some of the door and swung the doors wide open.

"Green to security," she called, her voice shaking with fear, "I think there's someone in my quarters......"
Ephrem was not sure if he had heard right, but he quickly dispatched security to the Cheif Petty officer's quarters. He tried to reestablish contact with CPO Green, but no response came back.
"Commander, I think that CPO Green was attacked," Ephrem said as he scanned the women's quarters just to make sure. Suprisingly their was no one there other than Mira. It seemed as the assailant had already left the room. That was quick Ephrem thought, a bit to quick.
"Commander should I put all major systems on full alert?" Ephrem asked hoping that this person wouldn't do any more damage to the members of the crew.

"Where's John?" asked Smithers, impatiently. "I want to get this over with. We're being overworked."
Smithers always complained. "He'll be here. You know, that cheif petty officer and he are-" Wundt's worders were cut short as a Romulan gave him the nerve pinch. Smithers wasn't seven able to cry out before he was stunned.

News had reached the bridge that Mira Green had just been rattled and that she would be okay. Ephrem was relieved at the news, he barely knew the young woman, but he still didn't want of his crewmates injured.
Things seemed to calm down when the news was given, but things quickly changed when Ephrem saw Romulans enter the bridge. Ephrem almost thought that his eyes were playing jokes on him, but he knew that wasn't the case.
"Commander, we have....." Ephrem called out before he was fired upon. Ephrem quickly took cover under his station. Sparks flew as his station exploded above him. Ephrem took the phaser under his console and returned fire, but the heat from his station was almost unbearable.
=^=Intruder Alert, Intruder Alert=^=
Ephrem didn't know who had said the command, but as he returned fire he saw that there were only two officer's now exchanging phaser fire with the Romulans. It hit Ephrem that there would be no way he alone could keep the bridge, he would have to retreat. He was now the senior officer on the bridge and that freaked him out.
Ephrem quickly crawled under his station hoping that it would give him enough cover to escape to the nearest lift.
"Stop or I will kill you."
Ephrem immediately stopped and slowly turned around. He had never met a Romulan before, but when he turned around he was surprised at how familiar they seemed to him. They looked almost Vulcan.
"Drop you weapon, or....." the Romulan said before he was stunned by the last remaining officer on the bridge. This gave enough time for Ephrem to escape through the lift, but before he could do so he was hit slightly on the arm by Romulan phaser fire.
"Computer lockout all communication systems, authorization Ephrem Zeta, Alpha One."
Ephrem wanted this to all be a dream, it had to be a dream, but the smell of his own flesh told him that it clearly was not. Right now the Excalibur was in control of the enemy.
