Packed and ready to go, Konal left Starbase Conquerer quite uneventfully. With no friends or family to share a departing good-bye with, Konal punched the security code into the docking bay console. The doors opened and she entered the ship. It was a Type-9 Shuttlecraft that the USS Hanson had left behind the last time they were in port because a warp coil had been suspected to be on the fritz. It was either fixed, or it was found there never was a problem. Konal didn't care to dote on it. She was too busy daydreaming the scenarios that her new career as a Science Instructor would bring her.
The middle-aged Lieutenant punched the last known coordinates of the USS Hanson into the flight control bench. She was unfamiliar with the layout, and it took multiple tries just to get the computer to adjust its ergonomics to her hand movements. The shuttle disengaged from the Starbase, and once it was at a safe distance, engaged warp engines. The Hanson's coordinates were a decent distance at Warp 4, but it would be less than a day's trip.
Konal's instructions were to meet the Hanson at the prescribed coordinates. The Hanson wasn't expecting her, but through the recognition of her ship, the USS Cajun, they would quickly realize her intentions.

The long range scanners showed no signs of ships with only 20 minutes left in the trip. Konal reconfigured them to look for an ion signature. She was not familiar with the console layout, but she was more than familiar with starship operations, having served on a ship prior to her stint at the botany outpost.
The computer responded positively. Instead of setting a course to follow the trail, Konal shut her engines off and waited. One of two things could be happening," Konal thought. "Either the Hanson just left, or another ship just passed through here and the Hanson is on its way." Konal was a rational, calm thinker. Rarely did she make rash decisions. Unlike most Cardassians, however, she would commonly let her emotions overtake her desire to dominate. In some situations this was good, but after the loss of her husband and children, it was becoming a hindrance. Even so, Konal always excelled in what she did, and her work became her passion, no matter what it was.
Konal waited, reading a padd she brought with her, memorizing the responsibilities a Chief Science Officer assumes these days in Starfleet.
