Drew smiled to himself at Cadet Jones’ embarrassment. It was hard to believe that he himself was once that young, rising from his chair, he walked down to the conn and put a hand on the back of the cadet’s chair, leaning forward he whispered;
“Don’t worry cadet, it could be worse, remind me to tell you about the time I knocked out power on three decks during my first assignment,”
Jones looked up and smiled; Drew gave him a reassuring nod, and then walked back up to the command level, just as S’reena walked back onto the bridge.
“Nice of you to join us Commander,” Drew said as he took his seat, “we only departed five minutes ago.”
S’reena shot him an evil glance as she took her own chair next to him and reviewed the information on her console. Drew again smiled to himself; it was always so much fun to tease his sometimes too serious First Officer.
Now that things were well under way on the bridge, Drew allowed his mind to wonder. During their last mission, several security breaches had occurred, that suggested to Drew that their entire security protocols needed to be reviewed. An enemy agent had been able to get aboard, elude capture, and shoot the Captain and First Officer.
“Misters Daya and Methos, and cadets Hatchet and Viernes, please join me in my ready room,” Drew said, making his mind up and leading the way to his private office.
When the four officers were gathered, Drew took a seat behind his desk, and rested his hands on the table before him. He briefly explained his concerns about ship security after recent events, and then gave his orders.
“Mr. Hatchet, I would like you to please review our entire security and tactical database, look for any weaknesses you believe may be present in our current procedures, and see if you can find a way to resolve those issues.”
“Ms. Viernes, I would like you to also work with Mr. Hatchet, but pay particular attention to security arrangements for senior staff, and also for dealing with visitors to the ship.”
“I am sure your instructors will be most useful in helping you, but I am also going to assign Commander Reynolds to help you, he probably knows the ship’s systems better than anyone else aboard at the moment.”
His orders given, Drew nodded for the four to leave, then he sent a message to Reynolds informing him of the change in his assignment. After all he had no particular desire to get shot a second time on his own ship.
OOC:
Jason could you help cadets Hatchet and Viernes, while Daya and Methos are on LOA please? Many thanks.

OOC i am only on semi loa, but i see the point, i should be able to get a computer here shortly
IC
"Did you say 10 Borg cubes? and 50 romulan war birds? Well cadet, that is quite the exercise, but i fail to see how you could complete such a task, unless...." Daya trailed off as he went through a quick scenario in his head. "AH I see, well now that i know what kind of training you do have, lets see if you can handle this little thing" Daya said, punching in a quick code into the console, taking a step back, he looked at the cadet, and nodded at the console.
The ship's sensors went to red alert and the security console started to malfunction, Daya stood back smiling he had almost outdone himself this time. He waited for a few moment, watching the cadet work. Quickly the cadet and managed to fix the console, but now the sensors showed 2 romulan war birds on the starboard side, and Daya remember placing a cloaked Klingon ship somewhere.
Looking around the ship, Daya saw the other instructors watching, then going back to work, realizing it was only a drill. Looking back at Hatchet, Daya saw he had managed to disable or destroy both the Romulan ships, but had yet to find the cloaked ship. When he failed to do so, Daya stepped in. "You see cadet, a cloaked ship has its own emissions you have to locate, we know there is a ship out there, but we don't know where. Use the scanners to look for a warp signature, and then locate the cloaked ship" Daya pushed a few buttons, getting the scanners set up, then let the cadet finish what he started.
When the drill was over, Daya stood nodding his head. "Very good cadet, but you need to work on a few things, you'll get there"

From the Starbase operations deck Brelev watched the Hanson depart, a lone tear making it's way down her cheek. She was going to miss that ship, and she was going to miss that crew, even First Officer S'reena Hope. The ship jumped into warp, and Brelev took a deep sigh feeling a great longing that she should have been on it. There was even a medical cadet, she could have trained another young mind.
"Are you alright mame?" A young human male, working in science or medicine by the look of his uniform asked. He was watching the ship anxiously as well.
"Just thinking, just remembering." Brelev replied as she stooped down the pick up her bags.
"You taught on that ship didn't you?" he asked.
"Yes, for almost a year I think. You?"
"I work here on the base, my wife works in one of the labs. It's our first time apart." He admitted, fiddling with a ring on his finger.
"Newly weds correct?" Brelev asked, he nodded sheepishly. "I envy you, but the next few weeks won't be easy. I'm running late for my transport, I better go."
"I'll walk you there, my shift does not start for another hour." The young man offered, picking up the last of her luggage.
"Alright." Brelev agreed, and together they hurried to the docks.

The middle-aged Cardassian went to work aligning the sensors, as the Cadet instructed her to do.
"One suggestion -" Konal said to the cadet, while the Cadet was aligning the subspace sensors with the subspace chronometer. "I would ask Commander Shinsei about the warp drive. I seem to remember being told that Engineering had modified it. Normally we would ask them, but the new engineering instructor..." What was her name again? Konal couldn't remember... "Lisa? Kants.. Kanes.. Kanz? Kanz, yeah Lisa Kanz" That still didn't sound right but she continued anyway, "Lisa Kanz is rather new here - she probably doesn't even know about the modifications herself." Konal had to stop to remember what her point was. "so... " she paused, thinking, "ah, yes, you'll need to see what modifications were made, because the warp bubble, even while at impulse, resonates with subspace time, and it will cause errors in what the computer gives to you."
Alesia complied, and agreed that when she reached that part of her subsystem preparedness, she would indeed talk to Commander Shinsei.
"Meanwhile - I'm just going to get the short range sensors recalibrated. It shouldn't take too long."
The short range sensors appeared to be malfunctioning, because, off the starboard bow, two Klingon ships were shown as decloaking, yet the warning indicator on the console did not appear. It wasn't until Commander Daya let out a chuckle that Konal realized she had been duped, along with Daya's Cadet.
She reared around. "Mr. Daya. Enough of your nonsense! That served no instructional purpose whatsoever!"
Konal turned back to the console before he could respond, and told Alesia "It's going to take forever to recalibrate this with everyone monkeying with the systems. I'm glad there are two of us to get this done.

S'reena chuckled as Shinsei pointed the science cadet to her station. "Cadet Curell, I'm sure that when you want to have a go at flying this ship, Commander Shinsei will be quite happy to give you a crash course when she has the time. But for now, why don't you stick to your own department for now hm?"
The Romulan shared an amused look with the Cardassian science instructor, before fixing her gaze on her commanding officer and shrugged. "Mistakes do happen," she smiled innocently, "why, I remember when I first went through the academy and went on my first cruise, I mistook the conn for the science station." Of course that was a little white lie, but the cadet seemed to smile at that little bit of information.
"Besides," S'reena added, "I wasn't half-bad at the conn either, once my instructor discovered my error. Of course, I was confined to the science station for the rest of that trip."
Then Daya chuckled at Konál and her cadet and both Drew and S'reena followed his gaze. "Commander Daya, you're a devious man," the Romulan exclaimed, then nodded towards Shinsei, "why don't you let your cadet pretend those Klingons are still there and let him practice evasive maneuvres? Perhaps Miss Kanz can then keep an eye on the inertial dampeners and fix whatever's wrong with the stabilisers...we do seem to get shaken up during evasives quite a lot lately."

Crystal watched while Jones struggled slightly to get the ship properly out of dock, but the Hanson didn't seem to be responding properly. Crystal thought carefully about how long she should have him try—but in case there were serious problems in the control, she took over after a little while. Jones automatically started to run a diagnostic, which more than made up with any difficulties he might be having with the controls in Crystal's esteem. It was important, in her opinion, that the navigator listen to what the ship told him.
“That sounds like fun, Commander,” Crystal replied to Commander Hope. “Do you have much experience with evasive and combat piloting?” Crystal asked Jones. “If not, that's fine, you can learn now.” Crystal personally didn't think the earth-side academy taught as much about such things as they should, because the academy let a good deal of its teaching be governed by something other than practicality.
But Crystal felt that battle was the time when piloting became much more difficult, and it mattered so much more that there not be any mistakes. But almost all instructors did things differently, Crystal knew that well enough. She glanced at Jones, suddenly remembering that she had asked a question and that he was going to answer it, since his answer might well differ from some of her past experiences.

OOC, well commander hope, right about now my cadet is still doing something. ooc response: S'reena was referring to Shinsei's cadet not yours IC "Commander Shinsei, would you like a few warbirds or something of that nature to test your cadets piloting skills?" Daya asked, looking up from his console, while his cadet was away working on the security problems the ship had been having. Daya thought he could at least provide a few holograms or something to test the cadet at the helm, Daya himself normally used a shuttle when flying.

After Methos left the Ready Room, he went to one of the auxilary consoles on the bridge. He tapped into the security console and began running a security sweep of all the ships systems.
While the computer was processing the data, Methos decided to look into the turbolift system himself. As the data scrolled across the screen a message from the computer came on his screen. It had found a security breech in the transporters, replicators, inertial dampners, and turbolift systems.
"Admiral, security sweeps found breeches in the transporter, replicator, inertial dampner, and turbolift systems. I am going to start with the turbolift system first, because I was already looking into the problem with them," he informed the Admiral.
Methos looked at the breach in the turbolift system. It seemed that someone, had programed the malfunction to occur after the ship had been resuplied, which explained how they started to malfunction when most of the crew was back on. Methos checked to see who had programed it an at what station.
The data was heavily encripted, so Methos tapped his commbadge and said, =/\=Commander Manto, can you come to the bridge and assist me for a moment?=/\=

Konal turned around. "I'm right here, Colonel." She rolled her eyes. It was amazing that the ship even flew. Sometimes she felt the Cadets paid more attention to their surroundings than the other officers. She found, however, as she got older, she got more accustomed to her ways as well. It was easy to tone out others... but for a Marine to not be aware of his surroundings...
Konal finished her reply. "Commander Daya is probably the person to be talking about encryption, being security and all. I, myself, haven't worked on such a mathematical intensive problem in years. It would give Mr. Hatchet over there some good training too." She winked at the youngin. Not knowing how respond he looked at his marine instructor, realizing then that the marine didn't know much how to respond either.
<Viernes / Methos>
Of course, Konal was lying. She knew about encryption, but she was lying for good reason. She was rather busy. She wanted the transporters fixed, true, but she also didn't have much time to do it. "Call the new Chief of Engineering up here... L.... Lo... " frustrated she decided to forget the first name, "Ms. Kanz."
With Commander Daya pulling shenanigans on the bridge, and Methos and Cadet Viernes seemingly wandering aimlessly, she felt that the lie she told was the means to an end, - one that the means justified.
Cadet Currell, only a few minutes earlier, had an unfortunate fall due to the new Cadet piloting the ship. "Brace yourselves" was called out - but Konal was talking rather loudly... and with the science console so far away, neither of them had heard. With Cadet Currell's tender knee being re-jostled, medical decided it would be best for her to remain in sickbay for the time being. Konal escaped the trip to sickbay. However, after the commandeer attempt for fixing the turbolift problem, she felt that sickbay might have been a better option.
"Commander Shinsei, the short and long range sensors have been realigned. Our warp tolerance should be within a few cochrans now."
Crystal turned to relay the message to her cadet, but Cadet Jones had overheard and acknowledged before she could do so.
<Jones>
"I'm going to go down to the science labs and calibrate the bio sensors. The caretakers of this ship must touch everything, I just know it. Every-time I re-board, everything seems to have changed tolerance and variance.!"
Nobody responded, but a few people gave an acknowledging smile, writing her monologue off as the clucking of a middle-aged woman.
"Let me know if you need anything." she added as she stepped into the turbolift.
=/\= Science labs please =/\=
A few seconds later, the doors opened to the holodeck.
*sigh* "This is going to be a long mission."

Brad had been asked about his flight experience and although he didn't like remembering it, he saw no promblems in letting his instructor know.
"A little sir," he replied," I have some experience flying freighters. In 50 odd flights I only had the cargo taken once." he continued knowing full well that that one time had been the only time the 'pirates' had really wanted the cargo.
Having received a confirmatory nod, Brad settled down and yelled out "Brace yourselves" before activating the ships manual controls. In the 5 years he'd been flying, nothing came close to flying the ship with only minimal computer input.
"Aaaah" came a yell from across the bridge.
"Sorry," Brad called out as he sent the ship into a tight yet controlled corkscrew in an attempt to keep the smallest profile of the ship from the illusionary foes.
"Commander Shinsei, the short and long range sensors have been realigned. Our warp tolerance should be within a few cochrans now."
"Acknowledged commander," he responded before throwing the ship in the other direction as another Warbird materialised off the port bow.
<Hatchet/Daya>
"Setting ship course, Wilkes system." Brad announced yet again after the threat was removed.

S'reena clamped her hands down hard on the armrests of her seat as she tried to keep herself seated. Behind her she heard a scream and seconds later Cadet Currell was beamed to sickbay. Manto looked a little dissheveled, but soon the ship stabilised itself after Jones regained control of the Hanson.
"That was...something," S'reena breathed, only for Drew to hear.
Then Methos reported in. "Admiral, security sweeps found breeches in the transporter, replicator, inertial dampner, and turbolift systems. I am going to start with the turbolift system first, because I was already looking into the problem with them."
"Breeches?" S'reena gazed from marine to admiral and back to marine, trying very hard to contain her laughter. "They found breeches in the transporter? Oh my....admiral we've got someone running around the ship half-dressed..." The very thought alone, S'reena no longer could control herself and her laughter rang out over the suddenly silent bridge. "Oh I'm so sorry Methos...but that just is horribly funny."
The Romulan watched Manto leave, a troubled and somewhat disapproving look on her face, but S'reena simply didn't care. She hadn't had a laugh this good in a very long time. Of course, she knew what Methos had meant, but the way he said it was just too funny. Pulling her face once more into normal expression, she averted her gaze from Drew and Methos. "Jones, what's our ETA to Wilkes?"
(Jones)
"Very good. Daya, I want you and Hatchet to run another security sweep and get engineering to fix the breach in the transporter. Also, our new chief engineer still needs her security codes and a briefing on ship security. See to it that she gets updated on all items of importance...what with her record of hacking into systems...let her know that's just not done on this ship."

Materializing into the science lab, Konal immediately got to work. She was rather perturbed that everyone seemed to think it was all fun and games on the bridge, when she still had mounds of work to do - and down one person. Speaking in terms of length of service, Konal was still the newest member aboard. She was one of the older members as well. She wasn't the fastest worker, nor was she the most experienced... but it appeared her level of diligence was impeccable relative to others on the ship. If this continued, she was going to have a talk with Admiral Drew. Jokes of breeches versus breaches, klingon warbirds disorienting sensor alignments... unacceptable.
"Now what was I going to do down here?" Konal thought to herself. She had spent so much time working herself into a tizzy that she had forgotten the reason she was down here.
"Ah - the sensors" she said out loud, but still to herself since nobody else was around. The stalk of celery was still sitting on the table beside the biosensor basis sample - the sample of bio-material that represented all known forms of life. The celery was a bit wilted since last time, but being generated from the replicator, it wasn't real celery- it only looked, felt, tasted, ... the point was, bacteria had no interest in it, thus no rot. Had it been a real stalk of celery, the biofilters would have zapped anything trying to decompose it as well.
"I thought someone cleaned this place while we are docked." Konal said, again out loud, as she tossed the food item into the waste regenerator. Her bad mood was turned around a bit at the thought of Mr. Connor aligning the sensors to the celery stalk, a little trick that Konal had played. It was too bad that Alesia was still in sickbay. Konal was looking forward to pulling the same stunt again.
Aligning the sensors, Konal made her way to sickbay, but was sidetracked by another jolt on the ship. She was banged hard against the bulkhead in the corridor. With a bruised neck ridge, she continued to sickbay... no sense diverting now, especially with injury. Almost to sickbay, she had a better idea.
=/\= Commander Hope? =/\= Konal hadn't really mastered the etiquette of communiques. A better explanation was, she had forgotten the etiquette. On her botany outpost, the informalities were pleasant. Back to rigid reality, the Cardassian had to force herself to relearn proper protocol across the board.
The Commander answered.
=/\= Permission to realign the inertial dampers. There is something clearly wrong with them. I'm right here, and engineering is busy on the turbolifts. Maybe a simple realignment will take care of these *rubs her neck while cringing in pain* jolts =/\=
Commander Hope gave her approval.
Konal resorted to her mumbling about responsibilities on the ship. One could hear things like, "..don't respect their elders anymore..." or "...want something done right you have to do it yourself." However, nobody was around to hear. Konal always tried to pleasant in front of others, having lived under the pretense of being submissive most of her life on Cardassia. She didn't enjoy it, and wouldn't force it on others.
"That should do it!" she called out. An engineering officer piped up, "what was that?"
"Nothing. I am through here. Can you put this hatch back on?" the ensign complied, and lifted the heavy panel as the cardassian officer made her way out of engineering.

"I am the only one allowed to hack into the ships systems anyway, he said to himself, although the thought of teaming up with the CEO came to mind.
"Daya to Cadet Hatchet, when you are done what you are dong, please come to my office" Daya said, tapping his comm badge. tapping it again, he conntacted Lucy. "Ms Kanz, would you mind coming down to my office to get your security codes and a quick breifing?" Daya asked, before starting his security sweep.

A massive jolt lurched in slow motion through the dark miasmal fog shrouding Albert Ireland’s surroundings from his conscious mind, and slowly the blackness shrunk back entirely and the young man’s brain was pierced by excruciating light swirling in impenetrably convoluted patterns. Albert realised that his eyes were closed, and that the effect was some bright light source shining down through the thinly permeable lids, and that he was not in fact going insane or trapped in some bizarre dimension of reality composed of angry colourful static. Tentatively a part of himself that was ingrained with the sense of duty impressed on Albert by his recent Academy training suggested opening those eyelids, but another instantly and forcibly dismissed it. If it’s this painfully bright with them closed, do I really want to risk permanent blindness by opening them? Go back to sleep.
Albert lay there still, willing the emptiness of sleep to return and for the questions of why he didn’t remember going to sleep in the first place and why his stomach felt like it was on fire to shut up and leave him alone. Oblivion’s tendrils were just creeping over the yellow and red fury of the shut-off outside world again when another jolt coursed through Albert’s body, this time lifting him physically off of whatever he was laying on and depositing him painfully on a lower plane.
“Damn it! Here, are you okay Cadet? Somebody help me get him back on the bed.” The pain of the fall had jarred Albert fully awake, and he found himself in sickbay blinking through the unreasonably bright overhead lighting at a middle-aged nurse whose name he didn’t know, and whose face was a strange mixture of mock sympathetic concern for her patient and anger at some unknown antagonist. Albert reasoned correctly that the antagonist in question was the one that had kicked him off the biobed and scattered various other items about the deck as well.
“What am I doing here? Ah!” The cadet winced as an orderly helped the nurse dump him back up on the bed.
“You’re in sickbay.”
“I gathered that much.” The sympathy left the nurse’s expression, leaving the anger still there and getting replaced in the mix with a not-very-subtle sardonic arching of the woman’s left eyebrow, and Albert knew that he would have been better off just keeping quiet. But she surprised him by explaining after the look had clearly been registered by her patient.
“You were suffering from acute peritonitis. Your appendix burst whilst the ship was preparing to leave, and rather than leave you behind considering the very low severity of the condition, you were beamed to the Hanson’s sickbay rather than taken to the starbase facility.” The nurse gave him a sickeningly sweet sarcastic smile. “I’m afraid that you passed out from the pain, you poor lamb.”
“Would explain the lack of memories regarding coming aboard. How much longer do I have to be here? And what was that tremor just now?”
“You’re free to go tomorrow. Just don’t try anything too strenuous, you’re going to be sore for the next week or so. And no piloting shuttlecraft until you can safely do an emergency stop.” Albert smiled wanly at the nurse’s weak joke, and wondered what he had done exactly to deserve this. The nurse paused for a moment before continuing. “As for the ship jumping all over space, you’d better get in line to ask our new chief engineer just what the hell she’s playing at. The inertial compensation system has been playing up ever since we left the starbase, and yet the admiral is still insisting on going on with the propulsion systems in the state they’re in. And of course anyone trying to go and complain gets deposited on the wrong deck by the blasted turbolift. More like a failed Corps of Engineers experiment than an active starship.”
The nurse’s tirade precipitously died down to a mutter, and she hastily finished putting in place the fold-up barriers on the sides of the biobed that would prevent another jolt displacing Albert. The cadet looked up and saw a severe Starfleet officer with commander’s pips walking towards him, as the nurse discreetly slipped away to tend to another patient out of the officer’s hearing.

"...says he doesn't remember a thing. Poor lad."
"I was referring more to who he was, not what was wrong." Konal checked her padd. "He's not on the duty roster." The nurse looked confused, but admitted that she hadn't actually checked the roster- with Doctor Brelev in transition, sickbay was in disarray, and the Cadet must have fell through the cracks in that respect. With the Cadet having another day before he was due to be released, it would give Admiral Drew time to review the Cadet's credentials. In the meantime, Konal did her own little investigation.
The Cadet's eyes grew wide when the Cardassian Commander approached him. It wasn't every day that a Cardassian in uniform came rushing toward you while you were restrained in a biobed.
"You didn't show up on the roster when we left the Starbase. Did you forget to report in?"
<Ireland>
"Well, I am Commander Manto, the science officer aboard." She was still a little leery of the Cadet. "Of course, you would have known that if you would have reported in." She winked in a matter that gave the cadet the ability to choose whether she was angered or being facetious. "But since you don't remember what you did, I guess I can't complain too much."
She stepped back, tapped her chin a few times in thought, and then continued.
"Since you are not on the roster, ... sorry to keep bringing that up, but it's a fact..." Konal rubbed her sore neck ridge, "I'll have to defer to Admiral Drew's decision on what will happen. I'll spare the intruder alert for now." This time, Konal clearly smiled, giving no room for misinterpretation of her jest remark.
=/\= Commander Manto to Admiral Drew =/\=
The Admiral responded, and Konal briefed him of the unexpected situation.

Before Drew could respond, however, S'reena walked into sickbay. "Ah there he is!" she called, stepping up towards Manto. "I see you've met Cadet Ireland." Manto whirled around to face the Romulan, her face a mask of disbelief. "Nobody comes aboard without either myself or Admiral Drew knowing about it commander, and this cadet was due to arrive but came down with a severe illness. Rather than let him wait on SBC and have our beloved Salek tend to him, we thought he might benefit from the familiarity of humans in sickbay."
S'reena nodded towards Michael, who was tending to another patient. "Michael's very good with young people remember? A friendly face would do him more good than the saturnine face of a Vulcan."
This time she turned towards the sick cadet. "Feeling better?" she asked him, taking the PADD from Manto. "I'll take care of this now commander, the cadet has been assigned to me. However if you wish to check him over...you did have medical experience didn't you?" She cast Manto a look, daring her to respond, then turned back to the cadet. "Now, I just overheard you'll be released to your duties tomorrow. For now, if the nurses agree, why don't you come with me and I'll give you a little tour of the ship, and introduce you to the rest of the senior staff. You've just met our lovely science officer, Commander Konal Manto."
S'reena nodded towards Michael. "And my husband, Doctor Michael Hope, he's in charge of sickbay until we receive a new CMO." As if she seemed to remember, she smiled sheepishly. "And I am Commander S'reena Hope, first officer and your instructor."

“Err… I see.” Albert looked between the unusually aggressive Vulcan first officer and the now purplish grey face of the Cardassian science officer. The sudden tension in the sickbay between the two was evident to all of the medical staff and patients alike, and the room had gone silent apart from the ambient sing-song beeps of the equipment. Albert did not feel quite up to the pressure of having to speak cogently in this atmosphere. He felt awkward both for himself and for the science officer, who must have made some kind of inadvertent mistake. Albert had felt foolish moments before trying to explain why he didn’t remember reporting to the commanding officer, and the severe look on Commander Manto’s face had stopped him from arguing that he was supposed to be here. It seemed logical to him that he wouldn’t have been put in the Hanson’s sickbay over the available and technologically superior facilities at the starbase otherwise.
In the mean time, he had to make some sort of reply to his new instructor; his weak, vague and mumbled answer, and the prolonged gap following it where he had merely sweated uncomfortably and stared bug-eyed at the two alien women, had apparently made him look like something of an idiot. Albert saw the nurse who had first spoken to him standing behind Manto and Commander Hope, miming speech with her hand, a sarcastic grin on her face. The temporary chief medical officer was shaking his head before either executive officer or scientist saw what she was up to, and the nurse’s tongue peeked out slightly in unalloyed amusement as she put her hand back down behind her. Albert also realised that Admiral Drew was still listening in too, as Commander Hope had entered before he could reply, and the cadet felt his head burning at the mass scrutiny. “Well, I suppose I need to see the ship. Normally I would, umm, study the deck plan on the first day of being aboard, but you know…”
Great way to start out on a new ship Ireland. What a wonderful first impression you've made...

S'reena smiled and stepped aside to let Michael do his work. He nodded appreciatively as he ran a scanner over the cadet's abdomen. "You seem to be recovering nicely after that appendix of yours nearly burst. We were just in time mister, and you were lucky to survive that. It could've turned quite nasty. Now...you can get up but take it easy, no sudden movements and not too much excitement!"
He cast his wife a warning glance and the Romulan shrugged. She couldn't help it if a cadet overworked him or herself under her guidance, she was strict enough as it was. "Get dressed and come with me," S'reena instructed Albert, then smiled sweetly at Konal. "I believe you were going to report something to the admiral?" She pointed at the ceiling. "Connection's still open commander, I bet he heard all this."
S'reena smiled encouragingly at Ireland. "Where do you want to go first? Anything in particular you'd love to see that you haven't yet had the chance to see aboard an Intrepid?"

Albert zipped up his duty uniform jacket and tried to hide his disconcertment. The first officer wasn’t just unusually aggressive for a Vulcan; she was also in the habit of smiling. And of not leaving whilst very junior officers got dressed, despite her husband being nearby.
Unless... that’s interesting. You don’t see too many Romulans in Starfleet uniforms.
“Well Commander, all of it really. I’ve never been on an Intrepid class starship before. My previous training has been on the Nebula class, or simulated on the holodeck. I guess from a professional standpoint I’d like to see the bridge and the armoury more than anything else.”

“That's very impressive,” Crystal remarked to Jones' comment that he'd only had the cargo taken once out of fifty flights. The ship rocked then, causing a few of the officers on the bridge to glance disapprovingly towards the Navigation console. Crystal understood, however, that the only way to avoid enemy fire in a battle situation was to give up a little smoothness of flight. She supposed she had been fortunate that she had spent most of her early navigating time in a shuttle, either alone or just with Arlen. She hadn't had to worry about upsetting people's work as much when she was just learning. But Crystal had heard a scream, which worried her. She hoped it was just a minor injury, but most things seemed to be, given what Starfleet medical technology could do.
“I'm impressed,” Crystal candidly admitted when Jones had evaded the first Klingon ship, and then a second one. “And seeing as the sensors are functional again, how do you feel about proceeding to our destination. There's probably no need to further disrupt the rest of the crew.” Crystal smiled slightly at that, since she firmly disbelieved the idea that a Chief Navigation Officer's function was to insure the ship sailed smoothly. The computer could do that well enough on its own. A CNO, in Crystal's opinion, was mostly there for when things didn't go smoothly.
“So, what do you think of her?” Crystal asked, once Jones had set a course to the Wilkes system. “The Hanson, that is.” She felt kind of eager to hear it. Crystal personally loved the Hanson, but it had really been the first large ship she'd piloted that she could call even a part of it her own.

Daya sat with his head down, reading the PADD, a week old report on the security of the ship and its systems, in front of him. He was deep in thought when he looked up as the door to his office opened, allowing Cadet Hatchet to enter. "Ah Cadet, I want you to go down to engineering, and tell whoever is in charge to get some people to work on the transporter breach. And while you are down there, do me a favor and get the access logs to all the consoles in there." Daya said, handing Paul a empty PADD. "Just download everything to this PADD, and bring it back"
Returning to his work, Daya continued to read until he tossed the PADD to the side, ontop of a small stack of previously read data PADDs. "I might have to input a new systems to prevent things like this from happening again, this is tiring" He reached over to pick up another PADD, when his door opened again.

The newly identified Cadet viewed the interchange between Commander Hope and Commander Manto as if an intergalactic war were about to be ignited. In reality, it was a normal exchange between the two officers- an exchange which encouraged orderly conduct. It was a trait that both officers demanded of those they worked with. That wasn't to say they weren't fun at times, as both Konal and S'reena had their moments. The current communication between the two, although seemingly dry, was actually rather amicable.
"I need to go finish up on the bridge." There were a few others in sickbay being treated for some of Mr. Hatchet's ship maneuvers, and their presence had reminded Konal that she had to recalibrate the bridge inertial modulator before the dampers would be fixed.
=/\= Bridge =/\= To her pleasant surprise, the turbolift opened up to the bridge. "Wonderful" Konal said, stepping off the bridge. A bridge officer questioned her statement, but she shook her head, portraying that her message wasn't for anyone to necessarily hear.
The science officer spent some time trying to relearn the inertial dampers control system, a job that was mostly an engineering procedure. Due to the fact that there was a new chief engineer Konal had taken over the job, with her supervisor's approval, and to her regret. The computer was not being very forthcoming with instructions. Apparently it was assumed that a person manning that particular station would know a few things about calibration.
"Ah ha!" Commander Manto only had to run her hand up the console, with a finger on the control, to reengage the dampers. "That should solve our jumbling about" she said audibly for the pilots to hear.

“Well Commander, all of it really. I’ve never been on an Intrepid class starship before. My previous training has been on the Nebula class, or simulated on the holodeck. I guess from a professional standpoint I’d like to see the bridge and the armoury more than anything else.”
"Then to the bridge we shall go first," S'reena answered, ignoring Michael's glare when she motioned for the cadet to get up. Manto had already left sickbay and S'reena smiled to herself. No doubt the entire ship knew about 'the argument in sickbay' by now, as junior bridge officers who had overheard were likely to pass it on through the grapevine. And as Intrepids weren't very large, word would spread rather quickly.
Raising an eyebrow at Ireland, she allowed some impatience to show. "Well?" She was already halfway to the door when she had noticed Ireland wasn't following. "I thought you were eager to see the bridge, let's go then. We still have to get you reported in to the admiral...official business and all that. Not to mention quarter assignment and assigning of security clearances. At present, you wouldn't be able to get in the armoury as you aren't cleared to do so."
A few minutes later, the two stepped out onto the bridge. "Admiral Drew, may I present Cadet Ireland? I'm giving him the brief tour of the ship before getting him settled in where he's supposed to be. Except he's under doctor's orders to take it easy for the next few days, so I'm taking him to the holodeck for light training."
