Doug was proud of his Cadets. Although he hadn't been too much involved in their training yet due to pressing matters that demanded his personal attantion, he could see that they all held promise. Still, one could never have too much training and since he hadn't the foggiest what was on the other side of that rift, he wanted to be absolutely sure they were as ready as ready can be. Commander O'Connor and he entered Holodeck 1 and MacHeath walked over to the computer panel. "Computer, activate MacHeath training programme Beta 1, safeties off." The computer bleeped an affirmative and the holodeck grid made place for a large room with bare walls. On the other side of the room, several figures could be discerned. Three Borg, three Klingons, two Romulans and five Cardassians. All looked ready for anything. Doug activated his comlink.
=^=All Marine Cadets, report to Holodeck 1 on the double!=^=
When the Cadets were assembled, MacHeath took the lead. "Attention!" All Cadets jumped to attention. "At ease!" All Cadets relaxed slightly. "Over there, ladies and gentlemen, you can see several species who are most renowned for combat. This is hand-to-hand combat practice. You will all take on an opponent and if you have finished him off, you will move on to an opponent of another species. Make no mistakes, the holodeck safeties are off, so you'll have to be extra on your guard. Like so..." He approached one of the Klingons and pointed aggressively at him. "You, I challenge you!" The Klingon immediately attacked him. Doug's training took over. He ducked out of the way of the Klingon's blow, took his arm and broke it in three different places, before wheeling him around and breaking his neck with a swift but powerful kick. MacHeath straightened his jacket and turned again to the Cadets. "they will not attack you unless you specifically challenge them. Go ahead and pick your opponents. Make me proud!"
MacHeath joined Commander O'Connor, who had been watching from the side wall as his Cadets picked their opponents.

"Welcome aboard, Ms. McKnight. Sirs, I was thinking about how we would go about keeping other ships out of the rift, while someone, if its the enitre ship or not, went in and rescued the Admiral's son. I was thinking that the ship stay on this side of the rift and we sent in a couple of shuttles, filled with mostly Marines and some scientists and doctors. The doctors and scientists because we don't know whats on the other side. What do you think?" Xin-Ling thought a moment, then let a light smile escape.
"Idea sound good to me, as long as shuttle can survive trip through rift. But can they?"

Methos was in his quarters studying everything that the federation had on temporal rifts, from how they formed to possible locations that they went to. He was so into the material, that he almost didn’t hear Lt. Colonel MacHeath’s call for all Marine Cadets to go to the holodeck. He put the PADD down and left his quarters. He made his way to the holodeck and found that the other cadets were already there, as well as three Borg, three Klingons, two Romulans and five Cardassians..
Colonel MacHeath then called, “Attention!” Methos then stood with his shoulders back, chest out, and feet at a 45 degree angle. When Colonel MacHeath said, ”At, Ease,” Methos stood with his arms behind his back and his feet at shoulder’s width.
Methos watched Gabbrile call out a Klingon and watched her fight him. When the fight was over, Methos eyed his prospective opponents carefully. He then chose one of the Borg Drones. He walked up to him and said, ”You, I choose you,” and went into a defensive stance. As the Borg moved towards him, Methos waited until almost the last moment, and dove to the left, rolled and came up behind the Borg. The Drone was now at Methos’ mercy, or so he thought. As Methos moved to attack the Drone from behind, the drone spun around and hit Methos square in the chest. Methos flew back a few feet, but quickly jumped up on his feet. The Drone then came in for a second attack, but Methos was ready for him. As the drone swung at him, Methos dodged right and grabbed the Drone’s arm and drove his open palm into the Drone’s torso. The Drone fell to the ground. Methos quickly swung his legs over the drone’s head and fell to the ground. He arched his back and then heard the distinctive crack of a bone breaking. He quickly got up and into another defensive stance. The Drone was slow getting to its feet. The Drone the came in for another attack. But Methos dodge it as the Drone moved past him. Methos grabbed the Drone’s head and the snapped its neck. He was panting for breath as he looked at Colonel MacHeath.

"Commander Reynolds," Hawk said as he approached the OPS officer, "Any chance you could give us a hand by increasing the power output of our sensors?"
Jason was hard at work getting all systems to work at peak efficiency. He was about to say that he was not going to be able to do so, but realized that this was what he was needed to do. If another instructor needed his help he would need to be there for him.
"I'm on my way Commander," Jason said as he looked at Commander O'Connor and he just nodded telling him that he was excused.
It didn't Jason very long to reach main engineering, but he hoped that he had, because when he entered there was what seemed a multitude of instructors and cadets. Jason walked up the engineering instructor and introduced himself.
"Commander Hawk, I'm Commander Reynolds and as you requested I am here to help you guys out," Jason said extending his hand.

"Commander Hawk, I'm Commander Reynolds and as you requested I am here to help you guys out," Jason said extending his hand.
“Glad to meet you Commander.” Hawk said shaking Reynolds hand.
Working along side the Cadets and the instructors Commander Reynolds was able to provide the added power the sensors needed to be able to penetrate the temporal anomaly. Hawk looked at Commander Ford as he studied the readings that were coming in from the sensors about the anomaly.
“What do you think Commander?” Hawk asked Ford.
<Tag Commander Ford>
Working with temporal fields had never been Hawk’s strongest point so he helped where he could when he could as the data seemed to come back at an alarming rate. From what Hawk could tell the anomaly was self contained and seemed to be counting down to its collapse.
“I think if we send out three unmanned shuttles in a triangulation formation we could attempt to create a stationary warp bubble around the anomaly with the hopes of keeping it from collapsing.”

Hawk was pleased to see that Commander Ford had everything set up for the cadets when they arrived on the bridge, "Mercia, Shinsei I want you two to work close with Command Ford for a minute while I get Mr. Reynolds to get us some more power." Hawk said. "Hello, cadets. Let me show you around. These consoles are rather... unorthodox. I've created a link to Main Engingeering, the Science Labs, and I've got all sensor readings and other incoming data right here... We should be able to have six people sitting down at the station at any given time, which is not what normally happens here on the Bridge. Then again, I think if we did it the normal way, none of you would get enough experience. I must confess, I'm not entirely comfortable with Main Engineering, so why don't you bring me up to speed on the basics, and I'll fill you in with some of the sensors and science stuff. It'll help us all get to know our way around better." (Tag: Mercia, Shinsei) Commander Reynolds was able to provide the added power the sensors needed to be able to penetrate the temporal anomaly. Hawk looked at Commander Ford as he studied the readings that were coming in from the sensors about the anomaly. “What do you think Commander?” Hawk asked Ford. "Never seen anything like that," replied William. "It looks sort of unstable, and I can't tell if its natural or artificial. My guess is natural. I don't know what it is, but we had better send a couple probes out, to see how they do. Want to do the honors, Cadets?" (Tag: Mercia, Shinsei) “I think if we send out three unmanned shuttles in a triangulation formation we could attempt to create a stationary warp bubble around the anomaly with the hopes of keeping it from collapsing.” "I dunno" said William. "The Hepta might be a better idea. I doubt the shuttles' abilities to hold up when they go through that. I know this thing is unstable, but maybe we should spend a short time on running possible scenarios. We could use the science labs, and watch their outcome from here. I'll have my people punch in the variables." He turned to the cadets next to him. "How are those probes coming along? I'd like them " (Tag: Mercia, Shinsei) OFF: Be a good idea to ask the Captain if you can launch the probes before you do.

"Captain," said the junior officer sitting at the Operations console, "there's just been an unusual surge of power from the rift."
"Details," TJ said, inviting further information.
But before the officer at the console could answer, there was a jolt that shook the Hepta, and the leviathan that was the flagship of Starbase Conqueror moved from its stationary position towards the opening in the rift.
"Hold our position, Mr. Jackson!" the captain called out.
The officer at Operations flicked one switch after another, tapped several pads on the console, but nothing seemed to stop the progress of the Hepta towards the gaping mouth of the rift, now growing ever larger and more threatening in the main viewscreen.
"It's not responding, sir!"
TJ flicked a switch on the arm of his chair and shouted, "Go t' yellow alert!" His eyes focused again on the threat now covering half the Hepta's viewscreen.
"Ladies an' gentlemen," he said, his voice quiet but tense. "'Tis appearin' we'll be enterin' th' rift a wee bit sooner than we expected."

Methos was in a different state of being, when all of a sudden he had been shaken awake, he heard over the Comm that they were to be entering the rift sooner than expected. He got up off his meditation mat, rolled it up, and stored it before leaving his quarters.
He went to the Turbolift, entering he said, "Deck 5-A." The doors closed and the lift stasrted moving. When it stopped, Methos got out and found himself next to Sergeant Major Plumely and Colonel MacHeath.
"Sir! Is there anything I can help with at the moment?" Methos asked.

Gabbrile kept things under control in enginering making sure there was a way to escape just case the rift desided to rip the ship apart, or desided to shake the ship to no end making the crew go flying .she wanted to make sure all was well on her part hitting her combadge methos this cadet gabbrile see that medical has a way to escape an is prepare for any wounded an by all means just to be on the safe side, have everyone hold on to something an you sudjest, you also find something to hold on to because i think its going to be a bumping ride.

As the Bridge crew fought to keep themselves seated at their posts during the entire time in the rift as the Hepta was being tossed throughout the time vortex, and the borders of the tubular-like rift stubbornly refused to allow the ship’s escape, keeping the Academy flagship moving back and forth like a volleyball at an athletic tournament, TJ was more than concerned about the sparks he saw flying from the areas where the ship scraped the edges of the rift and the crackling noises accompanying them, assuming damage to the outer hull.
“Shields up!” he cried, hoping the Hepta’s barrier would then prevent any further damage from occurring. It did not, however, give much relief from the tossing about suffered by the crew aboard ship. If this is what Sam Nogura’s small vessel had gone through, he hoped that the Admiral’s son had survived, though there was every possibility he had not. Yet he did not want to consider that possibility.
After what seemed like an eternity, the rough treatment of the ship stopped as suddenly as it had begun as the stellar background, which the rift had hidden, once again appeared.
They were, however, no longer anywhere near Deneb Kaitos.
A star, bright only because of its proximity, dominated the location in which the Hepta now found herself, about eighty thousand kilometers from a predominantly bluish planet with patches of land masses.
A gasp of astonishment arose from the ensign at the Operations console as she said, “It’s... Earth!”
Glancing at the chronometer on her console, she added, “Earth... in the year 1342 AD.”

With out warning Hawk found himself being tossed around like a rag doll as the Galaxy class starship was pulled through the rift. The roller coaster ride ended with Hawk grabbing firmly onto a nearby station, once everything settle back down he looked around at the cadets.
“Is everybody alright?” Hawk asked.
Word had spread down to the lab that the Hepta had traveled back in time and now was in orbit of Earth in 1342. It seemed more clear to Hawk now that this rift was not just simply a temporal rift, but a temporal wormhole.
“Alright people we need to start creating answers for how we are going to get back home, lets look at the data the sensors were able to pick up as we traveled through the rift and see if an answer lies with in those logs.” Hawk said to the cadets.

Finally, the Hepta had ceased being tossed about like a basketball.
Xin-Ling was in the Security Office with Jack Parker. She had given this much thought, and felt it wise that the Marine and Security departments worked closely together in this mission, since they were uncertain what was going to be found on this, the other side of the rift.
They had not yet received word about their current location, or that the year was 1342.
“Sir,” she addressed her superior officer, “I have been thinking. Since we don’t know what we find here, perhaps it is good idea that Marines and Security work together as unit?”
“Have you mentioned this yet to MacHeath?”
“No, sir,” she responded. “I come to you first with idea. Shall we ask him?”

OOC: Some back posting, and I’m on the ship![/OOC]
Crystal arrives on board the Hepta, and before reporting for duty she steps into her quarters, and quickly dumps her small bag on one of two beds. She notices the two beds are identical, but that the other bed already has a bag on it.
Crystal glances around the room, noting the plain white paint, of how the whole room seemed to reek of military sameness. She looks at her bag, wishing that she had something in their to decorate with, but she isn’t much of a decorating person. She does wonder what would happen if she went to the replicator, after finding it, of course. Would it let her replicate a bucket of paint, preferably a dark blue? Crystal shakes her head slightly, smiling, that didn’t really seem necessary, if the room seems impersonalized, that is because no one ever stays long enough to make it worth personalizing. And she could ignore the background. She didn’t see any windows, which was to be expected, but it was also a good thing.
Crystal studies her quarters one last time before leaving to report. Crystal sits silently through the briefing, but pays close attention, and then she finds her instructor.
Crystal isn’t exactly sure what getting to know each other means, but she smiles, and gives her first name to the other cadet.
Crystal works with Cadet Mercia to help prepare the probes and make sure they have fully functional sensor equipment. They ask permission from the Captain to send in the probes, and receive it.
As Crystal is about to reply, she feels the ship shaking, and learns that the Hepta is entering the rift.
“I’m fine,” Crystal says, but she can’t speak for anyone else. She hopes everyone else is fine, and glances around, trying to find out.
Crystal searches the logs, not quite sure what she is looking for. It is possible that going simply going through the rift again may get them back to where they started, but it’s more likely that they could end up in the same location, but still the wrong time period, or even in the wrong location. And Crystal would ant like to have a guarantee that the rift would remain stable when they went in here. Crystal also hopes that the ship can find the Admiral’s son before returning, but she understands that they will still need to be able to return, and the sooner they find that out, the more secure everyone will feel.
“We still have the probes ready,” Crystal says. “I think we could send them out to explore the general area, find out about the area, it is possible that this isn’t merely a temporal and spatial wormhole, there could be other aspects. This may not be the Earth of 1342 that we know,” Crystal continues. It certainly can’t be both the Earth of 1342 that most of the people on the ship know, and the one that Crystal is aware of. “I don’t think it would do any harm to send out the probes, we could find out some useful information, and as long as they don’t crash into anything, or come between the Earth and the sun, we should keep from violating the temporal prime directive,” Crystal suggests, and waits to see how people will respond.

OOC: Hello Gabbrile and Methos, as you might have read in the thread LOA Announcement, your instructor is on a temporary LOA, up till his return I will take on the role of Colonel MacHeath. "ATTENTION" MacHeath yelled, and saw his both cadets jump into the correct position simultaniously. "At ease" he added, totally satisfied about the quick response of both cadets.
"You have trained in the holodeck for some time now, are there any questions that you would like to ask about your training?"
<Tag Gabbrile / Methos>
"Good point cadet, I will come back to that later, as I have a more important announcement to make." MacHeath walked toward both cadets and handed them both a PADD. "On this PADD you can find some info about our current situation. The majority is just technological information, but the most important part for you to know is that we are now in the year 1342 A.D. on the planet earth. The key to succes is to know your enemies, so I want you both to hand in a 15.000 words essay about the situation and about the difficulties that we might encounter"
MacHeath saw the reaction of both cadets and wanted to comfort them.
"Don't worry, you've got plenty of time. I don't think that we will leave this ship within two days from now. I'll be easy on you. I want the reports on my desk tomorrow at 1800, but not a minute later! While I scan your reports tomorrow, I expect you to go to the holodeck and start a program of which you think it is most appropriate to train for these circumstances."
MacHeath gave both cadets a couple of minutes to read the PADD and when he saw that they were finished, he decided not to keep them there any longer.
"Any further questions?"
<tag Methos / Gabbrile>OOC: Don't worry, I don't need an actual 15.000 words Just write a short summary of what you found out

“No, sir,” she responded. “I come to you first with idea. Shall we ask him?”
"Then please proceed and Liase with the Marines' Instructor and Cadets, I believe that Colonel MacHeath is currently unavailable and that Commander Bern is is currently Acting Marine Deppartment Head." Jack asked.
"Certainly Sir."
"Commander Chan should you bump into some from Engineering could you please ask them to take a look at my computer and communications systems as they seem to be malfunctioning, and if Commander Bern is agreeable I would like to schedule a briefing between our two departments" Jack asked frustratingly hitting the console in front of him.
"Sir" Chan replied exiting the security office.
OFF: Apologises for my absence and short post. I did not want to write too much. If anyone is agreeable to a joint post via msn or e-mail, then I would like to go ahead as soon as possible.

OFF...
This post is after Commander Parker and cadets leave holodeck...
ON...
Xin-Ling had heard that Colonel MacHeath was going to put his cadets through a training sequence in the holodecks, so she thought that as good a place as any to find the Marine Instructor. She would have to keep an eye out for Commander Bern in case Jack Parker’s information was correct and that the Marine Colonel was unavailable.
As it happened, though, she found him exiting the holodeck area along with several of his cadets, and walked up to him.
“Excuse, Colonel MacHeath. A word, please?” she asked, lifting her eyebrows in a query as she joined him as he walked through the corridor.
“Go ahead, Commander.”
“I have been thinking,” she began, “that it might be good idea for Security and Marines to work together in this assignment. We do not know what we find here.”
By this time, she knew their current location, as well as the fact of the time displacement.
Colonel MacHeath looked at her. The delicateness of her appearance belied the fact that Xin-Ling was an experienced fighter. MacHeath knew this to be a fact.
“It might be a good idea, Commander. I’m sure you’ve got skills you can impart to my cadets – some that might save their lives in tight situations.”
“Good. Then you meet with Commander Parker in Security Office to discuss details?”
“Inside of an hour, Commander. It’ll be good working with you.”
With that, Xin-Ling took her leave of the Marine Instructor, grateful he was so willing to work in close tandem with Security.

Crystal is studying the information, but finds herself getting a little distracted, and not paying much attention to the information that keeps scrolling past her. She tries to get a hold of herself, and, rather than pretending she had been paying attention and missing vital information, she scrolls back to the top and begins looking over the information again. She’s not completely sure what she should be looking for, but she figures that any useful information will seem out of place among the rest of the sensor readings, and she’ll be able to identify it as such.
As she is working, her console gives off a few sparks, lightly singing her right hand. “How are you?” someone asks her.
“Fine,” she says, which is not a complete lie; she is certainly capable of continuing to work.

This was not the place that Jack wanted to be when the ship crossed into the rift, but he could do his job from here as well. As Jason hanged on to the nearest wall for support he read what his console was saying to him and he couldn't believe what he was reading. It couldn't be, how could it be Earth.
=^=Captain Edwards it seems as we =^=
=^=Earth yes I know Commander, but we are somehow in 1342=^=
=^=Captain I'm on my way to the bridge=^=
Jason didn't know he could run so fast since he made it to the bridge in less than three minutes. When he arrived he quickly took over his station and took in all the data. It defentialy was Earth, but it was a lot less polluted. Well of course it is Jason told himself as he rememebered in what time there were in.
"Captain sensors don't show any ship in the area," Jason reported. "It may be that the person we are looking for is on Earth."

TJ sat in the command chair. Though he said next to nothing, he was thinking – hard.
Provided Sam Nogura was on earth ... provided he had not been killed during the landing ... provided he had survived the superstitious fears of the terrestrials of the fourteenth century, how were they to find him? As Sam was a civilian, he did not have a comm badge. He wondered if they might be able to locate him by means of a planetary scan, but doubted it, since both Nogura and every other inhabitant of the current century was human.
It seemed that somehow the answer should be obvious, perhaps even simple, but for the life of him, he could not bring it to mind. Finding the answer was like trying to rope a mustang on the prairie with a lasso of grass – no matter if your toss over the neck of the wild horse was perfect, it simply burst free and ran out of reach, then would turn and neigh tauntingly.
Yet, surely the answer was so simple!
