As TJ returned to the bridge, Penfold vacated the centre seat and moved back to his science console. To help James with his cross-reference he pulled up a full breakdown of the bandwidth signals emanating from the star's centre. He highlighted the long-wave radio waveband and superimposed a copy on the viewscreen.
As James continued the little task TJ had asked of him, Penfold suddenly noticed a sharp peak in the short-wave end of the spectrum, particularly x-rays and gamma rays. The star was beginning to emit huge amounts of energy and mass, but even more disturbing were the spectroscopic analyses that Penfold was noticing for the first time. "Umm... Commander...." "You have something Mr Penfold?" asked TJ excitedly. "It's not what you're looking for, but you could call it interesting..." This response puzzled the FO and heightened his interest even more. "Commander?" "Sir, I'm not reading any Hydrogen lines in the spectroscopic analysis." "Is that unusual in an event like this?" "Oh God..." breathed one of the science officers at the back of the bridge. Penfold paused to gather his thoughts. "It means this isn't a type II supernova as the Federation Science Council had first thought. It's a type III..."
"I didn't know there was a type III," said James, who had stopped what he was doing in order to listen. "It's been theorised about and we think we've observed some in distant galaxies, but never in this one. We don't know what to expect to see from close up." "Sure I am that this is all very interestin' from a scientific point of view, but is it really relevent to the Captain's problem?" asked TJ. "I can't say sir, but it does affect my predictions on when the star is going to go nova." "You said we had three days.... how long do we have now?" "About 4 hours...."
The silence hung in the air like a guillotine waiting to fall.

Off: Sorry for my late reply, but I'm up to my neck in my exams. Luckily my last one is next Monday. Until then, I'll be there as often as I can (with a little luck that should be daily) and after Monday, there won't be any problems.
On: "Blast!" James turned around and quickly verified Commander Penfold's calculations. After a few seconds he again turned around. "Confirmed Commander, 4 hours max." TJ needed a few seconds to recover from the shock. When it dawned on him that the Hepta was in a lot of danger, he pulled himself together and started giving our orders.
"Put all sections on red alert! Penfold, I need a thorough analysis and simulation reports of every possible scenario if that thing goes nova. I need it yesterday. James, we need that warpcore online immediately. Go down to Engineering and perform a miracle. If we don't have warp in the next three-and-a-half hours, not even our atoms will survive that nova."
The red alert lights started flashing and the siren gave three short bursts of noise. Penfold gathered his science staff while James tapped his comm badge as he was running towards the turbolift.
=^=Cadet Giga, report to the Bridge immediately. You're going to monitor things on the Bridge and act as liasion between me and Commander Penfold. Engineering, get that warpcore back online. Reroute all non-essential power to the engines and shields. That star is going nova and we're sitting ducks. I'm on my way down!=^=
When he was finally done barking orders into the commbadge, the turbolift was already well underway. He finally reached Engineering, where a stressed looking Commander Stephans was barking orders to her staff. James entered Engineering and addressed the first person he laid eyes on. "Report!"

"Commander Edwards t' Transporter Room One."
–/\– Transporter Room here, sir...
"Uploadin' a set o' coordinates t' your computer. Lock onto them an' beam th' pilot aboard."
–/\– Aye, sir. Locking on now...
"...An' energize!."
It was scant seconds before the captain's form appeared on the transporter pad.

OFF: I will continue posting as Cadet Odell has yet to reply to my tags. I will make it so that Cadet Odell has scanned me.
ON: Giga was just finishing his talk with Cadet Odell when the Red Alert sounded and his comm badge beeped.
Giga aknowledged and headed for the Bridge. He was certain that Captain One's strange behaviour was a result of the people that had kidnapped him and the star going Nova early surely was no coincidence. Giga believed that had been "set-up".
He entered the turbolift just as Commander O'Connor left it. They exchanged greetings hurriedly and then both continued on their journeys.
Giga arrived on the Bridge to find it in chaos. The battle damage from before was evident and the constant yeling of officers over the red alert caused the room to bustle with energy.
He manned the Science station after reporting into Commander Penfold. He estimated less than 4 hours before the star went Nova and he detected three ships in the vacinity.
He reported to Commanders Edwards and O'Connor this information before turning to Penfold and doing the same.
"Commander Edwards!" Giga said. "The ships are coming into weapons range and are targetting!" He said.
"Brace for impact!" Edwards called.

Captain ONE looked around. He had been moved around against his will so much lately, he wasn't exactly sure where he was now. And to make things worse, his head hurt like Unimatrix 666. All he could think about was that Supernova... He could tell something spectacular was about to happen with it, and he wanted more than anything to be there to witness the event.
There was a slight look of surprise in the eyes of the two petty officers manning the transporter room. They hadn't realized it was the captain they'd be beaming. They glanced at each other, then looked back at ONE, who returned their stares. After he regained his bearings, he stepped off the transporter pad and headed down the corridor. A security detail rounded the corner in front of him. He turned around and tried to go the other direction, but there were three security crewmen blocking that way as well. ONE ducked back into the transporter room, and started punching controls furiously on the console. The two petty officers tried to stop him, but ONE was strong, and they were scared.
Resistance was futile.
As the first security team entered the room, they disappeared and rematerialized in the Brig. The second team soon found themselves in an adjacent cell. They reached for their combadges, only to discover they had been left behind in the teams' relocation.
To be continued...

The ship violently rocked as the weapons fire impacted with the Hepta's already damaged hull. Giga frowned. The sheilds were some how being drained by the weapons. Almost like Borg technology.
"Commander Edwards." The sheilds are suffering a power drain of some sorts. It cannot be stopped."
<TAG Edwards>
Giga nodded and continued trying to scan the surroundings during the weapons volley. Giga heard Commander Edwards order fire to be returned if possible and then the cry of dismay from someone as the sheilds failed completely.
"I am reading mulitple boarding parties on Decks 2,3 and 4. I believe they are trying to make there way here." Giga said.
<TAG Edwards>
"Commander. We have less than 3 hours until that star goes Nova. We need to leave in the next 20 minutes to get out of this system alive." Giga reported.

"Blast!" James yelled as he was violently thrown back by an exploding pannel. The Ensign next to him screamed and then fell completely silent on the floor. James went up to her as afast as he could. Her face and hands were severely burned and she had significant respiratory problems. James tapped his comm badge.
=^=O'Connor to Sickbay, medical emergency in Engieering. Beam Ensign Homan straight up to Sickbay=^=
There was no answer. James tried again.
=^=O'Connor to Sickbay, come in Sickbay!=^=
All around him the sirenes blared, red alert lights flashed and smoke slowly filled Engineering. "Blast!" James shouted again. He turned towards one of the other crew members. "lieutenant get over here. I'm going to initiate a site-to-site transport to Sickbay. You go with Ensign Homan. If the Doc's not in Sickbay I need you to keep her alive." The Lieutenant just had time to reply with a hasty "yes sir" before he and Ensign Homandissolved into a blue mist and then vanished completely.
<TAG: Doc>
James turned to to the controls again. Five consoles had been blasted to pieces. James was about to turn to another console when the ship rocked again violently and two more consoles spontaneously combusted. The master display showed that the shields were gone. Suddenly, the noise of the intruder alert drowned that of the red alert and lights started flickering on several decks.
James grabbed his phaser and yelled to the Engineeringt staff to do the same. "Jessica, take Lieutenant Commander Jones and Cadet Odell and get that warpcore back online. The rest of you, prepare to take a stand!" Jessica Stephans protested that they should evacuate Engineering instead of taking a stand. "Jessica, there's no time to debate this. If we don't get that warpcore back online in the next 20 minutes there will be nothing left to evacuate. Now move it!" James could hear the tension in his voice when he tapped his comm badge again. =^=O'Connor to Bridge. What the hell is going on?!=^=
There was still no answer. James turned towards the Engineers who were looking nervously around, phasers in hand. He saw the determination in their eyes, but also the fear. These people were Engineers, not soldiers. Being an ex-Marine, James was the only one with sufficient combat experience. The roguish soldier in him surfaced again and a grim smile curled his lips as he addressed his staff. "Okay people, the odds are against us but that's the way I like it. If they try to get in here, we're gonna make 'em bleed!"
There was a loud banging on the doors and heavy dents appeared in the solid iron surfaces. "O(kay people, this is it. Phasers at the ready." The doors were violently wrenched apart. James aimed his phaser and yelled "OPEN FIRE AND FIRE AT WILL!!!!!"

Jordan felt the ship rock and she lost her footing. She rolled sideways and back onto her feet. Draco slid off the biobed but was caught by Holi. Jordan smiled.
Jordan: Thanks.
She stood and took Draco into her office and placed him on the camp bed she had set up in there. She put pillows around him so he wouldn't tumble around. She then walked back into sickbay and was confronted by a lieutenant who was standing with a female ensign in his arms. Jordan saw the burns and her mind suddenly flashed back to when she needed to deal with Thread burns on Pern. She instantly went into action.
Jordan: Put her down on the biobed. Holi I might need your help with this. Lieutenant tell me what happened while we care for her.
The lieutenant couldn't find his voice at first but then he started talking fast. Jordan managed to get the gist of it all. There were explosions in Engineering and now it seemed that there were intruders. Jordan then blocked the lieutenants voice out of her mind and concentrated on the burns covering the ensign's hands and face. Holi now started thinking on her own.
Holi: Computer lock sickbay doors.
Jordan managed to get the ensign's breathing back to normal and the burns somewhat managed for now. The rest would be long and hard for all. Fortunately, the ensign's face wouldn't be marred by the burns however, the same might not be said for her hands. Jordan finally came back to reality and looked around. She tapped her combadge.
Jordan: =Sickbay to Bridge=
There was no answer. She tried yet again.
Jordan: =Mackler to Edwards=
There was still no answer. Jordan looked down the room and saw Xin-Ling's form. She ran down and woke her up slowly.
Jordan: Xin-Ling. Wake up. There's trouble.
Xin-Ling's eyes opened and she looked around. The words penetrated her thoughts and she was instantly alert of her surroundings.
Xin-Ling: What kind of trouble?
Jordan: Intruders on the ship and now there's no contact with anyone. Also, the Captain's gone missin'.
Holi turned around and went into the office. She rooted through a drawer and found a mobile emitter. She put it on and walked back out. Xin-Ling had gotten to her feet and was moving around. Jordan saw the holoemitter on Holi and smiled half-heartedly. She pulled a phaser out of her pocket and handed it to her.
Jordan: Ya know how to use this?
Holi: Of course.
The three women looked at each other.
Xin-Ling: To engineering?
They all agreed that it would be best to help out O'Connell first in Engineering and then recap things and possibly try the bridge. The doors unlocked and they slid outside. No one was there... yet. Jordan turned around and looked at the lieutenant.
Jordan: Stay here. The doors will be locked but I still suggest ya arm yourself. Computer lock doors and do not open them unless under my order.
The doors slid shut and they set off down the hall. Jordan really wished that Draco hadn't been hurt, he might come in handy right now.
OFF: Ok guys not to be a pain in the behind but we really need to wrap this mission up. It's been goin' a bit too long.

Giga was tracking the intruders, a team of the them had arrived at engineering and phaser fire was detected on many decks.
"Commander Edwards, requesting permission to leave the bridge and help to neautralise the intruders."
<TAG Edwards>
"Understood. I will remain in constant comm contact the whole time, if possible."
<TAG Edwards>
"I will make my may to engineering attempting to neautralise as many of them as possible."
The ship rocked violently again and many officers were knocked off there feet. Giga moved over to his console.
"We need to leave this sector in 15 minutes or we wont be able to escape the Nova." Giga said.
<TAG Edwards>
"I believe if I can make it to engineering I will be able to bring power back online." Giga said.
<TAG Edwards>
"Understood. Crewman Daniels will you accompany me?" Giga asked.
"Of course Cadet. Let me grab a phaser and I will be with you." He replied.
"If all goes to plan we will be in engineering with power back online in 12.5 minutes. We will then contact the bridge and a speedy escpae at, at least Warp 8 will be required to escape this sector in time." Giga said.
<TAG Edwards>
"Lets go." Giga said.

Sorry for not posting regularly. I've been ill for a couple weeks, and though better yesterday, had severe eye pain. All better now. "Granted," responded TJ. With that announcement, TJ gave the order to begin moving away from the scene, using impulse power until warp drive could be restored. His response would have to be lightning-fast as soon as warp cabability was restored. "Then be off with ye, me lad," responded the First Officer. "Let's be savin' th' Captain's ship." Only for an instant was TJ tempted to countermand the order from James with the thought that those on the otherside of the Bridge door might include shipmates, but then the obvious fact of the force being applied to the door shot down the ridiculous idea. TJ decided the order just given was appropriate to the circumstance.
He wished Xin-Ling was on the Bridge. Things would likely turn out much better than what was the expected outcome.

Xin-Ling took a phaser, that being the only type of weapon available. It was not her number one choice of assault devices, but it was what was available. Her personal choices were in the main Security Office.
Fully aware of her surroundings, she slid out the door with Dr. Mackler and Holi, and started down the ship's corridor towards Engineering, alert to whatever might present itself.

I've gone down to see what I can do there while Penfold and you coordinated efforts from the Bridge and Giga would act as analyst/liason before the intruders boarded us. When the intruders attacked Engineering, I ordered the Engineering staff to open fire.

Giga and Crewman Daniels left the Main Bridge and they took the direct turbolift to Engineering.
"What is the plan we arrive on deck?" Daniels asked as the turbolift sped off.
"We are to neautralise as many of the intruders as we possibly we can. And then I am going to manually engage the power from Jefferies tube 27C."
"27C? Is that not one of the Jefferies tubes that runs past the plasma injectors?" He asked.
"Yes." Giga replied simply.
"The temperature can reach over 200 degrees in there."
"I am an Android. I can withstand temperatures much highter than that." Giga replied simply.
"Oh..." Daniels said.
The turbolift abruptly stopped and the lights flickered out. Giga felt Daniels fall down beside him.
"We have stopped moving." Giga said. "Are you alright Crewman?"
"Yeah, I just banged my head thats all." He replied. "Do you know what deck we are on?" He asked.
"I will boost you up to the hatch and you can look through." Giga said.
"Agreed. You are probably a lot stronger than me."
Giga crouched down and Daniels climbed onto his shoulders. Giga stood up slowly and the Crewman pushed the top hatch open.
Daniels climbed up and called down.
"We are halfway between decks 15 and 16." He said.
"We will have to climb the rest of the way down." Giga said. "It is essential that we get down to Engineering. We only have 9.5 minutes to escape this sector."
Daniels acknowledged that and Giga joined Daniels on top of the turbolift.
"How?" Daniels asked.
"I can defy gravity to a certain extent." Giga said. "Allowing me to jump higher than the norm."
Daniels whistled in awe. Giga cocked his head slightly, confused.
"I'm just amazed thats all." Daniels said.
They both began the descent, Giga first. They arrived on Deck16 and Giga manged to push open the turbolift doors.
A phaser shot skimmed past Giga's head.
"Daniels. There are intruders past this point, prepare your weapon." Giga called up.
The Android jumped through the doors and flicked his phaser out, knocking down three of the five intruders who were there.
Daniels leaped through and shot down the last two.
"We make a pretty good team." He said.
"Yes, we appear to work effectively together." Giga said.
Daniels smiled and they contunued their journey to Engineering. They encountered 3 more groups of 5 intruders before they arrived at Engineering.
The doors had been forced open and Daniels frowned. There was blood on the doors and there was no sound coming from within.
"Computer how many intruders are in Main Engineering?" Daniels asked.
=^= 35 =^= The computer replied.
"35!" Daniels exclaimed. "We will never be able to fight them off."
Giga began running scenarios through his posytronic net.
"Computer, How many Allied Officers are there in Main Engineering." Giga asked.
=^= 12 =^= The computer replied.
"Is Commander O'Connor one of them?" Giga asked.
=^= Affirmative =^=
Daniels turned to Giga. "What do we do?" He asked.
"I believe we can gain access to the upper levels og Engineering without anyone knowing but I need your help." Giga said.
Daniles audibly gulped. Something about the Androids cool, calm manner made him nervous.
He shook himself. He was Starfleet. "What can I do to help Giga?" He asked.
"I need you to go in there and surrender. Cause a destraction without a fight. I will access the vent shafts for Engineering and climb through. Hopefully enough of the intruders will pay attention to you so they ignore me." Giga said.
Daniels nodded. "Anything to help." He said, a slight nervous twinge in his voice.
"I will make sure nothing happens to you." Giga said.
"I know." He replied. "Let's go!"

Off: YES! I've got tickets to see Queen live in Ahoy Rotterdam (the Netherlands) on their European Tour. I was soooo lucky. The concert was sold out in 8 minutes. I've got wonderful seats! 26 April 2005 is the big day.
*looks around* Just had to say that. *wanders off, back to the mission at hand*
- Main Engineering -
The Engineering staff on duty before the invasion had consisted of 15 people. James had initially taken a stand with 6 of them, but pretty soon they had been driven back and the others had been forced to join the fight. It all happened so fast. In a matter of minutes, three of them were dead, one critically wounded and 6 of them captured. James had retreated with the remaining 5 and they had barricaded themselves inside the Chief Engineer's office. They were desparately standing their ground, but they knew it couldn't last forever.
Phaser fire was everywhere. Smoke from impact blasts burned in their throats and made it difficult to see. Shouts and thundering blasts were about the only sounds audible in Engineering. James commanded the remaining 5 free men in Engineering to open fire once again. A furious salvo emanated from the CEO's office and they could hear the shouts of enemies going down.
Suddenly, there was a remise in the return fire from the intruders. A crewman entered Engineering with his hands in the air, yelling that he surrendered. "What the.........BLAST! and I thought help was on the way. What is that moron thinking?" James exclaimed angry and annoyed. "Why doesn't he open fire?"
James's rhetorical question was quickly answered. An angry yell came from above as Giga and four crewmen armed with rapid-fire phaser rifles opened fire on the intruders. The crewman who had surrendered also drew his phaser and ducked away behind the "pooltable." James jumped up. "Let's go! I wanna see these suckers toasted!" The team joined in the rain of fire and the attackers were quickly decimated.
James came out of the CEO's office. Giga looked down from Upper Engineering. Pointing towards the crewmembers that were with him he started explaining. "Are you all right sir? I found these crewmembers taking cover in the Jeffries tubes. Once I broke into the weapons locker to get these rifles, they were more than willing to help. I......" James smiled a grim smile. "Good work Cadet, but you'll have to explain later. We have exactly 5 minutes to get our behinds out of the system. See what you can do up there. The rest of you, back to work. Let's get this puppy moving, let's go!"

Giga moved away from the Commanders positon. He narrowly avoided getting a phaser shot to the head, that would stop even him if it hit the right spot.
He arrived at the necessary jefferies tube and climbed in. He arrived at the hatch that required security clearance to enter. He didnt have time for this. He shoved his fist into the control panel which hissed and sparked. Giga climbed through.
The jefferies tube he was now in was more humid and Gigas temp sensors showed that this tunnel section was at 120 degrees and it was going to get hotter.
He kept crawling for 2 minutes. 3 minutes left. He arrived at his destination. The temperature now at 134 degrees. Gigas uniform was melting onto his android body.
He swivelled himself round and opened the plasma flow regulator along with the power couplings for engineering. He restored full power to engineering and then the rest of the ship. The plasma flow was normal and power was returning to the rest of the ship. His comm was out because of the heat - he just hoped someone was watching the consoles on the Bridge.
As if in answer to his hope Giga heard the Warp Core come online and felt the ship begin to move. The ship rocked violently as the runabouts attacking it attempted a suicide run to stop the moving vessel. The plasma conduit next to Giga exploded covering him in boling plasma and destroying half the bulkhead. Giga realised that his posytronic net had been exposed to the plasma. As another explsoion echoed around him his mind began to shut down. He had succeded in his mission, the Hepta was safe.
However he was not. He was stuck in the jefferies tube between a twisted bulkhead and covered in boiling plasma. Giga predicted the likelihood someone would be able to retrieve him before his core mind and back up systems shut down. There was 2% chance. The plasma would not cool down in time as the ship was obviously moving at high warp.
Giga closed his eyes...

The core was coming online. James tapped his comm badge and there was the familiar chirp that signified the comms were working again.
=^=O'Connor to Bridge. We have warp power. Set a course directly away from the star, warp 9. Get us the hell out of here!=^=
James could hear the helm officer responding and he could faintly hear the rest of the Bridge crew cheering. Giga did it! James turned to the nearest officer. "Lieutenant, remind me to give Giga a medal and demand immediate promotion for him." "Yes sir, I'll make a note of it." Then it struck him. He hadn't heard from Giga yet.
=^=O'connor to Giga=^=
There was no response.
=^=O'Connor to Giga, come in Giga=^=
Still, there was no response. James began to get very nervous. He ran to the nearest computer pannel. "Computer, locate Cadet Giga. #Cadet Giga is in Jefferies tube 127# With a certain shock, James realised that warp plasma flowed straight through that tube and there was no way of shutting down the warpcore now they were this close to the nova. He ran over to the "pool table" where several officers were pushing buttons. "Get a transporter lock on Cadet Giga in Jefferies tube 127 now!" One of the officers, a nervous Lieutenant Commander, went to work right away, but it took him too long. After a little while, he said, "I'm sorry sir, but we can't establish a transporter lock, there's too much distortion from the warp core." James shoved him aside and frantically started by-passing the distorion fields. There, there he was. It was a long shot, but it was their only chance. The transporter lock was faint and it was a high risk transport. If there would only be so much as a twitch from the plasma or a minute power surge, Giga would come back in pieces, if at all. Still, it wouldn't get any better. James pressed the button.
There was a blue whir in the middle of Engineering. "Try to boost the power!" the whir got stronger and stronger and finally, the shape of Cadet Giga emerged. He looked awful. Large portions of his skin coating had been dissolved by the hot plasma and the lights of his positronic net were flashing in all the colours of the rainbow. His uniform had melted and was stuck to him like a slimy, multi-coloured secnd skin. James went over to him. "Jessica, see what you can do for him."
=^=O'Connor to bridge, we have Cadet Giga but he's in bad shape. Damage control and repair teams to Engineering immediately=^=
At that moment, the doors to Engineering opened. James turned around, phaser in hand. "Now what!" But he saw Doctor Mackler and Xin-Ling come in. Xin-Ling still looked like she wasn't feeling too well, but she had a terrifying look of determination and anger on her face, which proved to anyone who saw her that she was fully fit to do her duty. Jordan looked around. "Have you seen the Captain anywhere?" Jessica looked up from what she was doing. "You mean you don't know where he is? i thought he was with you" Xin-Ling ignored her questions.
=^=Xin-Ling to the Bridge. The Captain is missing. We need Security on every deck=^=
no-one answered.
=^=Xin-Ling to Bridge, did you get my message? Hello......=^=
There was no answer for a long time. Then suddenly, an ice-cold voice came over the comm. The voice sounded efficient and emotionless. It sounded cruel and uncomfortably familiar. In fact, it sounded an awful lot like the Captain.
=^=This is the Bridge. You needn't worry about the Captain being missing. I can assure you, he is quite where he's supposed to be. =^=

May th' man who invented th' intertial dampeners be blessed! thought the Irishman. The move to warp factor nine was none too soon – now if they hadn't started it too late!
TJ was not that concerned about studying the star as it reached its nova stage...the probe that Giga had sent out had been transmitting, and that should supply sufficient data under the circumstances, until it was destroyed by the star's explosion.
If it had been possible to hear a rumble in the icy cold of space, it would have reverberated throughout the entire Hepta. As it was, the star began to pulsate...
Would they make it away in time?

The three women ran into Engineering to find all the fun over. Jordan was about to joke about it when a strangely familiar voice came over the speakers. Jordan's blood ran cold. Where he's supposed to be? she thought. Where's that? She tapped her combadge.
Jordan:=Mackler to the Bridge= Is the captain there?
She hoped she would hear some response but there was none. She swore under her breath then looked at Holi.
Jordan: Computer locate Captain ONE.
Computer: Captain ONE is in the Transporter room.
Jordan tapped her combadge again, hoping her idea would work.
Jordan: =Mackler to the Captain= I have a feelin' that joinin' the nova wouldn't be as good an idea as it seems.
ONE: Why do you say that Commander?
Jordan: I've got one young woman here who would be very saddened if you were lost.
ONE: Don't flatter yourself Commander.
Jordan frowned at that but did her best to ignore it.
Jordan: Ya may think that but I don't have shoulder-length brown hair and green eyes. She also is wearing a doctor's uniform like mine and she currently has on a mobile emitter.
Holi: Hello ONE.

One of Giga's eyes flickered open. The other had been burnt out by the plasma.
He could only move his head and was unable to access any of his recent memory databanks. He did not know where he was or who was crowding around him.
He attempted to communicate but his vocal functions were not responding. Giga attempted to reboot his network but he did not have enough power remaining for this task.
They eye flickered shut again...

James heard the cold voice come over the comm and suspected the worst. A cold shiver ran down his spine. Doctor Jordan remained perfectly calm as she started a conversation with the Captain. James didn't hesitate. "Xin-Ling, gte to the Bridge and se what you can do up there. I'll stay down here to see what we can do with Giga." Xin-Ling acknowledged with a nod of her head and turned around. James tapped his comm badge.
=^=Security, meet Commander Chan at the Bridge turbolift. Be sure to carry phaser rifles=^=
At that moment, Jessica turned her head. "Commander, take a look at this. Cadet Giga moved his eyes." James walked over to her. There was nothing else that he could do here now the warpcore was functioning at full cpacity again. Giga had shut his eyes again. James took some tricorder readings of him. "Jessica, try to reboot his system. He's suffered a system wide failure, similar to what we would call extensive trauma and neural shock. Rebooting his entire system might be the only chance of getting his cognitive subroutines back online." Jessica looked at him doubtfully. "There's a good chance he'll never wake up again, you do realize that don't you?" James eyed her gravely. "Keeping him in this state won't do him much good either. It's our only chance and it's slim at best, but we owe it to him to at least try it." Lydia pushed a few buttons and the lights of Giga's positronic net flickered and went out. All they had to do was wait until the system reboot had been completed. Time passed on slowly and nothing happened.
Then suddenly, 10 minutes later, Lydia called to James, who had been studying the warp core to see if there had been any damage. "Commander, he's waking up. It's working."

Giga lifted his head. His eye still tight shut. His network had been rebooted from an external source. Who? He ran a self diagnostic and was confused to find one eye missing, part of his memory databanks fried and the back portions of his legs burnt off.
The eye opened. He surveyed his surroundings. He remembered the U.S.S. Hepta and so came to the conclusion this was Engineering as he had noticed the warp core in the background gently pulsing. The warp core. Main power. What had happened?
He heard surprised vocies around him and he looked up. A Starfleet Commander was looking down on him.
"O'Connor" He whispered, his voice metalic and not of its usual calm resonating tone.
The man smiled and said something to the person next to him. Giga could not here, his audio sensors were partially fried.
He tried to stand up but his legs collapsed beneath him. What had happened?
He remained in the position he had been in before. The O'Connor Commander was talking to him but he could not hear a word.
He tried to stand again but this time he fell and hit his head causing a brief power failure and his positronic net to catch fire.
Giga's eye rolled to the back of his head and his net tried to sort out all the problems.
There was a lot of commotion around him as people put out the fire and scanned him to see if he was alright.
Giga could slowly feel his memory databanks returning. The fall must have knocked them back into place - fortunate. If that hadn't of happened Giga's head would of had to of been disected whilst new memory databanks were made and installed and the old ones removed.
He remembered the Nova... Captain ONE going missing... Crewman Daniels... Kidnap... Boarding parties... Transport... Plasma conduit...
His eye snapped open. He had remembered it all.
"Commander O'Connor." He said, his voice just as metallic as before. He heard the man walked over, aparantly his audio sensors had come back online as well. "I wish to leave." Was all Giga said before his power cut out again.
He would be fine, he just needed some serious maintenance work done...

TJ considered their standing...
"Computer," he said, flicking a switch on his chair. "Verify all personnel assigned to Hepta are currently aboard."
—/\— Working ... All assigned personnel are aboard. —/\—
"Engineerin', lay in a course for starbase, maximum availble impulse power. Operations, keep readin' th' input for th' probe until all signals have been received."

On her way to the Bridge, Xin-Ling stopped briefly for an exchange of weaponry. By the time she reached the command center of the ship with the security team, she entered to hear Commander Edwards giving instructions to Engineering to move towards starbase.
Her eyes rested on the captain, who did not yet seem to be quite his normal self.
