Nveid was walking through the corridors of the ship. It was his first time onboard a Galaxy Class vessel. He was liking it already. It was big. He liked big ships. They were good for marines, and better for training them.
For his training staff he ahd 1 Gunnery Sergeant and 2 Sergeants. The Gunnery Sergeant was a vetren of the Corps. The other 2 sergeants had been with the Corps 5 years apiece, so they knew what they were doing.
He decided that he had better go and talk to the CSTO's and see about coordinating training drills and routines together. It would benifit both departments greatly.
"Computer, Location of Commander K'ratak." He said. "Commander K'aratak is on the Bridge."
Nveid continued down the coridor until he arrived at a turbolift. He got inside and headed to the Bridge, the main one.
When the turbolift stopped, Nveid stepped out and gazed around the bridge. He was impressed. It was much bigger than any of the other ships he had served on, even the Deridex he was on for a short period of time.
He found the Klingon CSTO sitting in the FO's chair. He arched an eyebrow, odd, shouldn't he be in the CO's chair of he has the bridge. He shrugged and walked down the ramp to the Commander.
The commander looked up at him and Nveid saluted, it was a Marine thing, the Fleet never did it. 'Outdated' they seemed to think.
"Sir, I'm Captain Nveid, the marine instructor. I don't think We've had the pleasure to meet before." He said.

Nveid took the offered hand. "Thank you sir. The reason for my coming here sir was to see if we'd be able to coordinate drills between the Marines and Security on the ship. I think it would be good for both Departments, wouldn't you agree, sir?"

Polly and Crystal stood staring in amazement at the collection of isolinear chips that lay cluttered on the deck. Fortunately, not all had been pulled from their respective positions, but enough had been pulled to possibly cause some problems. Especially where warpspeed and the ship's defenses were concerned. "Polly my dear, I believe we have a problem," Crystal sighed as she gathered the several chips, "we can't possibly get these replaced in time."
"But surely you know where they ought to go?" Polly questioned as she grabbed another handful. By their count, at least fifteen had been pulled, and one had been broken in half, the other half still sticking in the slot where the entire chip ought to be.
"Aye, I should know except that I don't. The previous chief engineer didn't see fit to show me. We could spend forever trying to get it done."
Polly sighed in misery. "Seems I'll have to confront my dear husband with our problem then. I'll bet you he'll believe I have something to do with it."
"Nah. He'll not be that cruel would he? To me it's very evident you're trying very hard to become a better person. And from the first time I saw you, I believe you've come a very long way indeed." She glanced at her chronometer. "You could tell him over dinner. Your shift ended ten minutes ago and you've an hour before your dinner engagement."
"I heard Major Löhnen is back aboard," Polly sighed, "perhaps he'll be of assistance. I'll tell Thomas over dinner. I'll see you back in the morning." While walking out of engineering, she tapped her combadge. "Edwards to Löhnen, we have a serious problem in engineering. Fifteen isolinear chips have been removed from their position, and one is broken in half. Neither I nor Lieutenant Horn are able to fix our problem. Would you have a look at it for us?"
(Danny)
"Thank you ever so much Major, I'll be in your debt. And I'll inform Captain Edwards myself of our current problem." She smiled miserably as she signed off, then walked into her quarters. She entered her kitchen, put on her apron and started on the delicious dinner she'd promised her husband.
If anything, at least Thomas Edwards wouldn't starve. he may not love me, but at least he loves my cooking Polly thought as she set to work ah well it's said a man's love goes through his stomach...it seems that much is indeed true and I'll have to live with it for now.

K'ratak: Looked up at there new Marine instructor as he saluted. He had to admit he liked it something he missed from the klingon fleet. He listened intently as the Nveid explained what he wanted to do. Looking at him and turning to look at commander cole he got an idea.
"Captain Neveid Last I checked you didn't have any cadets at the moment. I have decided to let Commander cole run security and tatical for this mission. So she can develope a teaching style she currently has one cadet and a drill that she plans on running." Laughing alittle and lowering his voice so only the captain could hear.
" She wants to play intruder I'm suppose to start in the shuttle bay and make my way to the bridge. Commander Cole and her cadet are to try and stop me, as you well know being a marine sometime's things aren't as easy as the seem. I want you to join me and change your bio sign to klingon. I cant think of a better way to make it challenging for them both. Not to mention it will give you a idea of the ship lay out and the best places to conduct trainning. It will also give you a idea on how good the ship security is and what we can do to improve it. What say you are you up for the challenge not to mention a little work out. Trust me when I say she will make it a challenge she's very sharp but it would help with the training and improve the odds of at least one of us getting to the bridge." <Tag Neveid>

"I put up a bit of a fight. I ignored her when she first asked, and walked away. No offense cadet. You may commentate to the cadet. She has to learn somehow, just try to keep the questions away from the embarrassing," Alex said teasing Jordan a little. She felt a little uncomforatable on the biobed, but said nothing and didn't let her emotions show.
"Hmm, sounds like you've not been prying yet. I've been in the usual trouble. Nothing of that nature has happened. I think you will find me in good health, though I am not a doctor," she said remembering to exercise and keep herself in good shape. She didn't like physicals, because doctors never found anything wrong, and it just wasted time.
Alex sat still ready for the next questions as the doctor and her cadet performed the prisoner.

Nveid nodded. It was true, he didn't have any cadets at the moment. Nveid smiled as the Commander outlined his proposal. He liked it.
"Yes sir. That sounds like fun. Is this drill going to include phasers on stun? Or is it just cat and mouse?" Nveid asked.
(tag)
Nveid nodded. "Yes sir. I'll be looking forward to it." Nveid Saluted again and turned to leave. He turned back when he rememberd somthing.
"Sir, the three training Sergeants were actully hoping to help train someone this mission, instead of sitting on their butts the entire time. I was asked to rely that message."
(tag)
Nveid nodded once more and headed towards the turbolift. He walked past the Captains readyroom and almost ran into the FO. He sidestepped quickly.
(tag Nikmund)
"Sorry sir, I'll be more carfull next time. Its a pleasure seeing you again by the way." He snapped off a quick salute and continued to the turbolift. He got in and headed down to the Marine part of the ship.

Jordan smiled at the teasing and ran the scans while talking.
Jordan: Ya need to always ask basic questions like that because officers and even cadets have a bad tendency of not admittin' to when they're injured or are sick or in pain. The phrase typically goes "Doctors make the worst patients" and unfortunately, I am guilty of that but I don't suffer as many bumps and bruises as the other officers. When ya transfer to your own ship, I suggest ya get to know the crew and especially the captain, they tend to be among the worst when it comes to physicals.
The scanner beeped and Jordan frowned at it momentarily, pressing a few buttons. There was evidence of a concussion last mission and Jordan saw it had been taken care of but the circumstances as to how she got it weren't given.
Jordan: Well, I see nothin' out of the ordinary. Ya are in good health, ya suffered a mild concussion last mission I can see but other than that, only the normal bumps and bruises come up.
She turned to face Josh.
Jordan: Do ya have any questions about anythin' I might have forgotten cadet?
<tag: Josh>
She was still getting into the hang of dealing with cadets under her and was still nervous about making a mistake. She wanted to include the cadet with anything that was going on and felt she might be boring Josh by not keeping her busy, as well as herself. She sent out a mental touch to Draco, asking who she might be able to shanghai down to sickbay next for a physical and he informed her of a drill that tactical and security was running. That leaves out Commanders K'ratak and Cole. Who else is around? She wanted Josh to take care of the next physical to get in the experience but she also didn't want an officer who would say, intimidate the cadet. She's older than me though and could most likely handle things better than me,[/color] she thought.
Jordan: You're free to go Commander. Now, wasn't that painless?
<tag: Alex>
Once Alex was out the door, Jordan tapped her combadge.
Jordan: =Commander Mackler to Major Löhnen=
<tag: Löhnen>
Jordan: When ya have a chance, I'd like ya to report down to sickbay for a routine physical.
<tag: Löhnen>
Jordan: Mackler out. So Josh, how would ya like to take care of this next physical?

Danny had taken his station. It was good to be back behind controls that actually made a difference for a change. For the past year, he had been training Cadets at Starfleet Academy on Earth and the closest he had come to a control console was his word processing console in his office. Danny had had a love-hate relationship with the Academy. He loved the teaching bit, but he had always loathed the paperwork. A necessary evil. When he found out the Hepta needed an Ops Instructor, he moved Heaven and Earth to be assigned to this position. Not only would it mean getting out in space again on his old ship, it would also mean reducing the ever-growing pile of paperwork in his office.
Danny's comm badge beeped. He tapped it and anwered.
Danny's first thoughts were somewhat incoherent. Why had Captain Edwards suddenly become a woman (and a young woman at that!) and what the hell was he doing in Engineering fretting over some isolinear chips? After asking this new Edwards to repeat her message, his thoughts seem to fall into place. This obviously had to be another Edwards. Perhaps related, perhaps not, he would find out someday. His first concern, however, were the isolinear chips.
=^=Roger that Ms Edwards, I'll see to it right away. Löhnen out.=^=
Danny left his console, instructed his replacement to contact him if anything unusual showed up on the sensors and left for Engineering. During the short ride from the Bridge to Engineering, his comm badge beeped a second time.
=^=Understood Doctor, we have a slight situation in Engineering, but I'll be up when it's been cleared up. Löhnen out.=^=
Blast! he thought immediately. He hadn't even been aboard the ship more than five hours and already Doctor Mackler had tracked him down for a physical. Still, Engineering remained his primary concern at the moment. The turbolift doors swooshed open and Danny entered Engineering. He had served as Chief Engineer on an Akira Class starship and the design specs between the two ships were basically the same.
As he entered Engineering, he immediately saw the mess the Department was in. Isolinear chips were scattered all around and nobody seemed to care much, except a young Lieutenant who apparently had no clue what she was doing. Danny looked around, stunned. Someone needed to take charge around here, fast. Lieutenant Horn looked up from her work, a puzzled frown still on her face. "You must be Lieutenant Horn," Danny said. It was more a statement than a question. "I'm Major Löhnen. Ms Edwards told me you have some trouble with the isolinear chips?"
Lieutenant Horn quickly brought Danny up to speed on the Hepta's current status. Danny walked over to the panel that should contain the chips. He gestured to Lieutenant Horn to join him. "The question of where the chips belong isn't so much the problem Lieutenant, I'll show you in a minute. What concerns me most is how the ship's defences could have been so crippled without anyone putting a stop to it." He then showed the Assistant Engineer how to determine which chip belonged in which slot. "Each chip has certain characteristics, a computer code embedded in its core if you like. The slots match the code. All you have to do is scan the slot with a tricorder, then find the chip that matches the slot's characteristics by scanning them one at a time until you find the right one."
An hour later, the chips were back in place. Danny asked Lieutenant Horn to inform Security of the matter, just to be on the safe side. Still deep in thought, Danny entered Sickbay a few moments later, determined to get it over with.

Commander Nikmud was now back on the bridge, having narrowly avoided being barrelled over by the new Marine Instructor as she had exited the turbolift. Xerin watched quietly as she reclaimed her seat and parried with Commander K’ratac as she checked it over for damage. She briefly wondered if she would ever be on such good terms with the ‘other instructor’. She had taken to calling him this, inside her head at least – she preferred it to terms such as ‘senior’ or ‘superior’ or ‘primary’. Rolling her eyes slightly she decided to reserve judgement on the original matter until the drill scenario had been completed. She was certain, but she had an incline that he had just enlisted the help of the Marine Captain as well…
This wasn’t going to be half as easy as she had hoped. Cadet Roberts had only just joined the academy, and this was going to be his first test on board the Hepta. And it would involve a lot of second guessing on Xerin’s part to be a success. Commander K’ratak was an entirely new experience. She didn’t know him, she hadn’t had time to study his techniques, something she had always done back in the marine corps. To beat him she was going to have to think like him, and that was going to be a challenge.
An obvious route would be the Jeffries tubes. He couldn’t make it all the way to bridge, but it would take him a good few decks up the ship if he could make it into the system. He was unlikely to choose this route – he would be too easily spotted, but she was going to try and put him off all together. There was the turbolift, he could take that straight to the bridge, depending on what deck he found himself on. She couldn’t watch every chute at once. He must not be allowed to make it that far. There was only one chance of that happening. She would have to put the pressure on him from the beginning, and force him to make a mistake.
Cadet Roberts was still looking lavishly at the security console, trying to get a feel for the ships systems. She had no doubt that the Commander would do something to his bio sign, if not lock it out of the computer completely. There were ways to get around that, but all of them slowed you down. She wondered if the cadet would pick up on them…
With her nature as it was, she knew she was going to have a hard time letting Sharp take over the decision making. When she had worked under General Simmons, drill scenarios were there to be completed. Fail your last days training and you were dead. This was a world away from the Oberon, and she had to remember that. From the gaps in his personnel file she guessed that K’ratac’s history was as clouded as her own, so he was not going to make this easy on her or her cadet. Taking a deep breath she caught the Klingon’s eye as he excused himself from the first officer.
“Shall we get this show on the road then?” She asked, making sure her face gave nothing away.

TJ walked briskly through the corridors towards the bridge of the leviathan craft that sat ill at ease in the spacedock of Starbase Conqueror, anxious to get underway. In a matter of moments – provided the preflight checks were completed, the Hepta’s impulse engines would begin to pulsate with power and inch the ship out of the starbase and once more into deep space.
TJ was not happy. He had promised to attend a dinner with Polly O’Shaserra – he couldn’t bring himself to refer to her as his wife – in a few hours, but frankly, he by far would have preferred she not even have come aboard. Ah, well... he’d just have to make the best of a bad situation.
As he was not far from the bridge, it didn’t take him much time to arrive, and the hatch leading into the “central nervous system” of the ship swished! open as he neared it.
“Captain on the Bridge!” exclaimed an officer, and a slightly nervous complement of both junior and senior officers snapped to attention, remembering the ordeal the Irishman had recently gone through that left him married to a young woman he despised, and they wondered if it would color his relationships with his crew. They need not have worried. TJ had determined to conduct himself in a professional manner on the job if it killed him!
“As ye were,” he said quietly, a frown on his face.
Stepping up to his First Officer, he asked, “Would ye be informin’ me of th’ status o’ th’ preflight checks. Are we indeed set t’ be headin’ out now?”
<Tag... Alex>
”’Tis well then,” he commented. “Mr. Bern, busy yourself with settin’ a course t’ Rantous 9. Lay in an’ prepare t’ engage.”
“Laid in, sir.”
“Then engage, an’ let’s be off t’ our destination.”
The sound of the engines firing up, and the sight of their surroundings slowly moving backwards as they pulled out from spacedock somehow provided some ease for TJ, though he wished Polly had been left on the starbase. Silently, TJ listened and watched as they inched out, preparing to go to warp drive.
Ensign Parker set the brown paper-wrapped package on her table, curious what her uncle Adalai had sent to her. She had had little contact with him since she was a little girl, and though she found him interesting, he was definitely an odd little man.
She was pleased that he had sent a parting gift to her, but confused... and something about the brown package tied with the black string made her feel uneasy.
Taking her eyes from the package, she changed from her duty uniform into more comfortable garb, during which activity every so often her attention was diverted to the package on her table. What could he have sent?
Finally, she could stand it no longer. Her curiosity as a scientist... and as a woman... got the better of her and she moved to the table, took the package once more in hand, and tore the wrapping from it.
The disappointment and distaste on her face would be evident to any that would have been in her cabin. The package contained a doll. A grotesque female humanoid figure about 1/3 meter in length. The eyes were red, and the area around them was darkened to an almost blackish color, as if she had not slept in months. There was a cadaverous pallor on the face the doll, intensified by an evil grin, and when Linda looked at it, she shuddered at the sight.
Tossing the monstrosity to the table top, Linda looked toward her bunk. It had been a long day in the lab, and she was extremely tired. Her bunk was calling her with a siren summons that was sooo hard to ignore, and soon was impossible to resist. She laid down with a sigh of relief and turned her face toward the bulkhead, falling asleep in moments.
As she slept, the doll was surrounded by a pulsating, verdant glow.

Alex heard the question and shook her head chuckling. "Yeah, like pulling teeth," she replied before scooping up her padd and leaving sickbay before Jordan could say another word.
She returned to the bridge, and noticed the big bad Klingon was sitting in her seat again. She smiled and walked over taking the captain's seat until he came on the bridge.
"Commander, I do believe we have chatted about your butt in my chair. I don't need to be fixing that seat every time we have a mission. Don't you have something more important to do?" She asked, and noticed he was about to reply.
"Rhetorical, Commander," she said and dismissed him before he got a word in edgewise. She returned to reading her padd, just finishing when the captain came on the bridge about ten minutes later.
"Yes, sir, we are ready to, as they put it back on earth so long ago, rock n' roll," she responded smiling a little.
Alex thought about standing, and then checked her chair, discovering there was minimal damage done this time. She rolled her eyes, and took her seat. She relaxed back in her chair picking up another one of the many padds she carried with her. She starting reading yet another report that had come her way barely noticing the ship leaving dock.

On board the USS Grissom :
Seijitsu sat in Ten-forward, looking out of the massive windows, Marveling, even after so long as a Starfleet Officer, at the sight of stars streaming by as the ship traveled at warp. His meal was finished, but the drink he'd ordered, remained untouched on the table .. At last call they were just over four hours from Starbase Conqueror ...
=^= Exec' to Commander Seijitsu =^=
=^= Seijitsu =^=
=^= Commander .. Due to our being delayed we aren't going to reach the Starbase in time for you to board the Hepta .. She's leaving Space dock about now =^=
=^= Can we catch her or are you taking me to Conqueror ? =^=
=^= We have altered course .. We will rendezvous with the Hepta in approximately five hours =^=
=^= Thankyou Commander .. I'll be ready =^=
Seijitsu picked up the drink he'd been nursing and took a small sip .. Then, getting up, he headed back to his quarters to pack his meager belongings .. He didn't have much, he wasn't what some would call a 'hoarder' ... Once finished, he put the bag close to the door and sat at his desk .. He much preferred to get a look at the Officer's he would be serving with 'before' joining a ship... That done, he sat and read his book while awaiting the Hepta.
Several hours later :
=^= Exec' to Seijitsu =^=
=^= Go ahead Commander =^=
=^= We have just dropped out of Warp .. Currently matching course and speed with the USS Hepta .. They would like you over there with some haste as they're eager to continue on .. Transporter room two is waiting to beam you over .. Goodbye Commander =^=
=^= Thankyou Sir .. Seijitsu out =^=
Picking up his bag, then giving the room a last look, he stepped into the corridor and headed for the Transporter room. It took only moments to reach, and on entering, he stepped up onto the platform ..
"You have the Co-ordinates Chief ?"
"Aye Sir .. Already programmed in."
"Then ... Energize please ..." Seijitsu felt the tell-tale touch of the transporter, then the room's configuration altered slightly ...
~~~~~~~~~~
=^= Transporter room to Bridge .. The Commander is aboard =^=
=^= Very well =^= said someone he took to be the Executive Officer, =^= Have him shown to his quarters .. The Captain or Myself will speak to him once we are underway .. Oh .. Welcome aboard Commander =^=
Seijitsu picked up his bag and stepped down from the transporter. Then, with a small sigh, motioned to the man before him to lead the way, they headed into the corridors of the Galaxy II Class USS Hepta ..
Seconds later .. The ship herself jumped back into warp .. Arrowing toward her destination ..........
K'ratak: Just smiled at alex when she releaved him of duty and went to the tatical station to talk to Commander Cole. " Like I said before this is your station and you are in charge make sure you clear this drill the Commander nikmud and get her permision. I have no desire to be shot for real and somthing tells me she would enjoy that to much." Laughing a little he walked to the turbo lift. " if you get permission and give me 10 mins to get where I need to be."
Exiting the bridge he tapped his combadge " Captain Nveid I do beleave we should be running a drill in 10 mins get your team down to the shuttle bay and remember to change there life sign to klingon okay."<Tag Nveid> As the turbo lift started moving he thought for a moment. " Computer change my life sign to vulcan for the drill" This should confuse her a little for a moment if that.
Arriving in the shuttle bay he waited for the rest of the team to arrive to go over the plan for attack.
Leo shuffled off the shuttle and stretched like a cat. He hated long shuttle rides, they always made him feel like he a caged animal. He reached back inside and grabbed his bag and with a wave to the pilot started on his way to space dock. He was nervous, but it wasn't his first time transferring to a new vessel and he'd settle in soon enough, he always did. After stopping and asking a rather stern looking security chief for directions, he managed to make his way to where the Hepta was docked. He made his way aboard and with a nervous smile at everyone he came across, found his quarters and ten feet away, his office.
"How convenient ... " he said to himself as he waltzed into his quarters and looked around. It was a bit smaller than he was used to, but much homier. He never enjoyed having extravagant quarters ... it was just an unnecessary frill as far as Leo was concerned.
He decided on a change of uniform and started out toward the Captain's office to report in for duty.
Leo strolled onto the main bridge and stood off to the side watching the first officer's parlay with the Klingon commander. He smiled a bit to himself, but said nothing. Once the course was laid in and the ship was off the captain turned toward where Leo was standing.
"Sir, Commander Leo Blacard reporting for duty, sir," he said standing at attention.
NRPG: Sorry to take so long to post, my keyboard is back up an running now. Whether or not my brain is or not is debatable, but here goes.
RPG:
Josh watched the CMO run through a fairly smooth medical on the FO and when she was asked if she had any questions Josh simply shook her head. Of course she had questions but, she could tell by the FO's manner that Josh had probably ran out of all the good will she would get from her that day. She had lucked out once getting her down to Sickbay, better not push her luck.
Dr Macklin immediately called another officer down to Sickbay and informed Josh that she would be doing the medical.
Josh called up his medical records on her padd an waited until he appeared.
Finally he reported to Sickbay and Josh, asking him to hop up on the bed read the overheads and nodded, making a note on her padd. He seemed healthy enough however one thing struck her as odd. He had no sessions with any councellor logged in the last six months.
Rather than mention it Josh made a note of it on her padd. Seeing the councellor wasn't exactly her favourite form of relaxation either, and she totally understood why people chose to avoid them, however, Josh knew that you could only avoid it for so long until someone noticed, usually either your councellor or your doctor, since they were the people who had the most access to the medical notes.
Josh made a decision to inform her patient privately that he was overdue on seeing one. She would hate herself to have someone berate her publicly and preferred not to do it to anyone else, however she did set up a message from her padd reminding her patient that seeing a councellor was, indeed, a necessary fact of life.
That done she smiled at him, thanked him and told him he could leave. Watching him leave Sickbay she turned to Dr Macklin and smiled at her. "How did I do?"
He stopped short when he saw Doctor Mackler and an as yet unidentified Cadet. He saw Doctor Mackler mumble something to the Cadet and before long, the Cadet was beckoning him to follow her. GREAT! Not only would he receive a thorough physical, it would also be performed by a Cadet. Being an Instructor himself, Danny understood the need for Cadets to practice their skills, but he would appreciate it if they wouldn't practice them on him. The last time a Cadet had done his physical, he had been declared terminally ill, only to discover, still in complete shock, that the Cadet had mixed up the charts and that, in fact, he couldn't have been healthier. Danny sighed and resigned himself to the fact that it would be very rude to object. Following the Cadet, he unbuttoned his uniform jacket.
As it turned out, Cadet Caskie proved to be a very gentle, very competent medical Cadet. Her excellent bedside manners even made Danny lighten up a little. She made his bad mood disappear. After all the poking and scanning had been done, Cadet Caskie entered her notes on a PADD. She looked confident and obviously pleased with the results, but judging from her frown, not everything was in order. She approached the bed. "Major, I can give you a clean bill of health, but there's something I need to discuss with you. Would you step into my office?" Danny nodded and followed her.
When the office door closed behind them, she turned around and motioned towards a chair, while she took a seat behind the desk. "I'll have to ask you a personal question now Major. When was the last time you saw a Counselor?" Danny looked at her, puzzled. He hadn't expected the question. "A long long time ago, I can't even remember, but I'm sure it's not long enough ago." Cadet Caskie looked taken aback. "Sir, you are aware of the fact that Starfleet personnel are required to see a Counselor every six months?" Danny nodded, a bitter grin on his face. "I don't need a shrink." <TAG: Cadet Caskie>
Polly stood dancing in her kitchen, loudly singing along with the music she was playing. While she wasn't a bad singer, these particular songs were a little out of her range and she was producing notes that were fairly off-key. Not that she cared, she was too busy with her tasks set for the evening.
She had the report about what happened in engineering ready and laid it on the table for TJ to find as soon as he would come in. He needed not to ring the doorbell, she had keyed the door to open at any given time that he would approach so that he could come and go as he pleased.
Between her business she had discovered a new engineering instructor had arrived, so she had forwarded him a copy of the report also, and a request to meet at 0800 the next morning for a briefing. Now that an instructor had arrived, she would need to ask TJ for a new task, preferably one that would keep her off the bridge. She would do anything to keep from antagonizing her unwilling husband, and she knew TJ understood that little fact.
Smiling she glanced down at the tray she had prepared. Today, she had made a spinach lasagna with plenty of garlic, minced meat and of course cheese. As entrée she had prepared a home-made tomato soup and for dessert there would be a home-made triple-chocolate mousse. Even if TJ didn't love her, Polly was quite aware of the fact that he did love her cooking. At least I have that much, she thought with a smile as she entered her living room to set a table for two.
Soon, TJ would arrive, and she wanted everything to be perfect when he did.
Seijitsu wasn't scheduled to begin his first shift as Chief Engineer until zero eight hundred the next morning. But he wasn't one for just sitting around, so he unpacked, putting his belongings away so neatly that the rooms looked more 'showroom' than 'lived in'. Just the way he preferred it .. He then changed into a fresh uniform and left his quarters .. In the corridor, he located a turbo-lift and entered ...
"Engineering." he stated.
"Authorized access only .. Please state Name, Rank, Position .. For voice recognition." said the computer pleasantly .. Seijitsu sighed.
"Seijitsu .. Commander .. Chief Engineering Officer .. USS Hepta."
"Thank you Commander .. Identification confirmed .. Your stated destination was Engineering .. Is that still current ?"
"Yes." he replied, patiently waiting as the lift began to move ..
Less than a minute later the doors opened and he stepped into his department for the first time .. He moved slowly around the room, looking first at one console, then another, 'These people know what they're doing' he thought.
"Can I help you Sir ?" ... Seijitsu turned to face a young Ensign, "Potter Sir .. Ensign Potter."
"No .. No thank you Ensign .. I'm Commander Seijitsu .. You have been notified of my arrival I assume ?"
"Well actually Sir." said Potter, looking a little ill at ease, "We were told to expect you in the morning."
"I know .. Not a problem Ensign .. I'm just having a look round .. Please ask everyone to just carry on with what they're doing." he replied, smiling.
"Aye Sir." Potter said, then with all the digression he could muster, made sure no-one else in the department interrupted his new boss ...
Seijitsu locked his eyes on the warp core, and stayed that way for several moments .. Marveling at it's sheer power... Then he turned, nodded to Potter, and left Engineering .. He decided he was suddenly hungry ..........
Leo strolled onto the main bridge and stood off to the side watching the first officer's parlay with the Klingon commander. He smiled a bit to himself, but said nothing. Once the course was laid in and the ship was off the captain turned toward where Leo was standing.
“Sir, Commander Leo Blacard reporting for duty, sir,” he said standing at attention. Now that the Hepta had left Starbase Conqueror and soon would shift from impulse to warp drive, TJ’s attention could focus a bit more on what was occurring on the bridge, and so deal with a new officer, whom he had not yet seen. He briefly looked over the newcomer’s papers and saw that he was assigned to replace Dr. Johnson, who had not reported in this trip for her post as ship’s counselor. Though he would have been more at ease with Dr. Johnson, whom he had known since his cadet days on the USS Hanson, he nevertheless had no problem with the new counselor. In fact, the ordeal he was going through with Polly would likely drive him to this newcomer’s office before the trip was through.
The Irishman looked up from the papers, smiled broadly, and said, “’Tis a warm greetin’ I’m extendin’ t’ ye, Dr. Blacard. Welcome aboard th’ Hepta.”
He liked this new doctor. He was well able to blend a formality of a newcomer to the ship with the promise of a friendliness. Yes, the relationship between Captain and Counselor would likely become close.
As soon as Commander Blacard left the Bridge, however, TJ’s countenance fell. It was nearly time to meet his wife in her quarters for dinner, according as he had agreed. He sighed sadly, turned to his Executive Officer, and said, “Alex, there’s a chore that’s facin’ me... ye have the comm.”
A quick ride on the turbolift – too quick for the Irishman’s taste – and he saw Polly’s quarters near the end of the corridor. His pace slowed considerably. Since the last mission, he had not much desire to enter into anywhere that could be called “Polly’s Quarters”. Small wonder!
As he approached, the hatchway opened, and a plethora of fragrant aromas greeted him. An anticipatory smile was barely visible on his lips as he continued walking.
“I have arrived,” he formally announced as he entered...On the table in Ensign Parker’s quarters, the doll continued glowing... pulsating... the sickly greenish light emanating from it covering more and more of the young woman’s quarters until everything was bathed in it’s nightmarish glow.
Linda thrashed about in her bunk. A frown darkened her features, and moans could be heard throughout the ensign’s quarters as she slept. Suddenly, she sat upright in her bunk, screaming hysterically. A cold sweat was pouring from her face as she looked about her, certain that what had been chasing her was about to pounce for the kill. She could not cease screaming for several moments, disoriented by the night terror she had experienced, and when she finally did regain a degree of composure, she buried her face in her hands and began a series of convulsive sobs. Yes, it was a dream, but it all seemed so real!
Linda chanced to look towards the doll on the table as the green glow surrounding it subsided, and noticed that the grotesque face, which had been expressionless before, now sported a malevolent grin.
This was too much! She didn’t care if her Uncle Adelai did give her the doll, she would not tolerate it in her quarters any further. She grabbed the nightmarish creature roughly by its arm and stormed from her chambers toward Ten Forward where she disposed of it, then returned to her quarters.
As she entered her quarters once more, she stopped in her tracks and gasped.
There, in the center of the bed, was the doll!Three cadets walked briskly through the corridors. It was nearly time for their shift to begin, and they were on their way to report to the Bridge where they were to meet with their instructor, Major Danny Löhnen, for the day’s assignment.
From out of nowhere came a roar, and two of the cadets were felled by a large Bengal tiger. Within seconds, the two were killed, one under the claws of the beast, the other in its jaws.
The final survivor pulled his phaser, leveling it at the beast, but a powerful blow from its huge paw disarmed the cadet, who, seeing he could do nothing for his friends, turned and fled. It was a mistake to do so. The tiger pursued.
In moments, the third cadet was under the weight of the beast, and another life ended before the tiger moved on....
Leo left the bridge intent on checking out his office and the senior staff profiles. He was expected to review each crew member, especially the senior officers, as it was long overdue. The last councilor was stationed elsewhere before their reviews could be filed. Leo sighed as he rounded a corner ... he didn't exactly like crew reviews, they tended to be tedious and unrevealing. Most crew members said exactly what the councilor wanted to hear and that was that ... it was mostly just a formality.
'Busy work is what it should be called ... ' he thought to himself.
Suddenly, Leo was face down on the corridor floor. He'd tripped over something ... something somewhat soft and fleshy and covered with material. He lifted himself up and peered back behind him and saw the leg of an unconscious crewman tangled up with his own. He let out a grunt and shuffled to one side of the corridor and grasping the banister lifted himself up and ran over to the stricken young man. He was lying face down under a medical kiosk.
Leo got to his feet and grabbed a medical tricorder from the kiosk and scanned the young man. Unfortunately, what he discovered was something he simply couldn't explain. Other than the man's ashen face, frozen in terror, and lack of consciousness there was absolutely nothing wrong with the man. He tapped his combadge.
Running the final diagnostics on the ship's sensor array, Danny awaited his new batch of Cadets. Originally, there had seemed to be four of them, but Cadet Sanok had never turned up. Now, the remaining three were to report to the Bridge for duty. They were late. Danny could understand people who overslept sometimes, but all three of them, on their very first shift, that was too much. Annoyed, Danny stroked his clean-shaven chin. He would make them understand that this was not the way to go on the Hepta.
After hailing all three Cadets several times with his comm badge, Danny grew tired of it. "Ensign Gomez," he snapped to one of the Operations officers who was analyzing data on one of the other Bridge consoles. Gomez looked around. Danny handed him a PADD. "Here's a list of new Cadets who were supposed to report in 15 minutes ago. Find them, scare them and get them here on the double." Gomez shut off her terminal immediately and left the Bridge with a short "Aye Sir!".
Seconds later, an alarm began wailing on Danny's console. Danny tapped a few buttons and stared at the data readout for a second before acting on it. He turned around briskly. "Commander Nikmud, life phaser fire on Deck 7 Ma'am". Commander Nikmud came over to the console at once. This was unheard of. Phaser fire on an Academy vessel fresh out of spacedock.
The same alarm had also gone off at the Tactical console and the Security officer on duty dispatched a team immediately. Before the team had even reported in however, a new comm message came in.
=^=Bridge, Sickbay, we have been called to a medical emergency on Deck 7. Docs responding. =^=
Danny and Commander Nikmud looked at each other. Commander Cole had joined them at the Ops console. What the hell was going on?
OFF: Please folks don't take this the wrong way. I am used to rpging by email with a time stamp in every post so that everybody knows where everyone else is. Simming here on line is totally new to me and quite and adventure honestly. If I do get something wrong please feel free to point out any mistakes, since it is the only way I will learn. I must admit I find it hard to sim online since my rpgs before that have always been by email.
Josh had not long sat down after the last medical when the red alert started sounding. As the alarm started flashing siletly above the door she turned to Dr Mackler to see what she wanted done next.
Leaving Engineering, more than pleased at how the department looked, and making a mental note to say just that to Polly Edwards when they met for the morning meeting. He headed down the corridor toward a turbo-lift, stepping aside for a couple of Officers, he entered ..
"Deck ten." he stated.
As the lift rose, he thought, just for a second that he heard screaming, or raised voices .. Trying to listen he heard a faint yell, or so it seemed ..
"Halt turbo-lift." he ordered, then pushed himself against the door, hoping to hear a repeat of the previous noise. But even after breathing as shallow as possible there was nothing ... Frowning, he wondered if maybe he'd imagined the scream.
"Resume." he said, a puzzled look crossing his face.
A moment later, he left the lift and turned toward Ten Forward, but, for some reason, stopped and changed direction, rounding the bend in the corridor cautiously ..
The first thing he came across was a phaser. It was lying on the floor of the corridor .. As he reached it, he bent down to pick it up. That was when he noticed the blood. One or two drops at first, but as he moved further round the corridor there was more, much much more ...
It was then he noticed what, or indeed who, the blood had belonged to .. What looked like the mauled, mangled remains of at the least, one of the crew, were strewn about the length of the corridor .. He took in the scene before him, almost unable to comprehend what could have caused such carnage. He'd seen more than his share of death, but this was ... different, beyond anything he could imagine ..
He leveled the phaser, sweeping it from side to side as he checked both directions .. The corridor was, at the moment, empty .. He tapped his Comm's badge, his eyes never leaving the farthest points in his line of vision ..
=^= Commander Seijitsu to Bridge .. RED ALERT .. Possible intruders .. Captain to Deck Ten immediately .. Security Medical same location ! =^=
=^= Acknowledged Commander =^= said the duty Bridge Officer.
Seijitsu leaned up against the far bulkhead from the devastation before him, sweeping the phaser back and forth, wondering vaguely who would get there first, the Hepta's crew, or whatever had caused all he saw before him ..........
Alex was very surprised to hear how the days events had unfolded. She found nothing interesting had happened other than Polly was joining the crew, and even then she didn't really find that too interesting.
She was contemplating turning in for the night and letting the third shift personnel get to their jobs when there were reports coming in about attacks and a possible intruder. She sighed, but let the third shift CO answer the call to the bridge.
"Go and now, report immediately when you have something," she said and thought about staying on the bridge. She noticed the security personnel left immediately. She turned to the third shift CO.
"Keep me and the captain up to date on this situation," she said and left the bridge.
Alex headed straight for her quarters and got something to eat. She sat down to read some reports when she heard some screaming outside her quarters. She wasn't sure what was going on, and suddenly it decided to come in. She grabbed her phaser and aimed it at the tiger hitting it two or three times. That didn't seem to help though.
The tiger was on her quicker than she liked. It moved on before devouring her, but she lay on the floor in her quarters badly hurt. Her commbadge was several feet away, and she knew she wouldn't be able to make it over there before she blacked out. Alex got to her feet and tried to make it. She placed her hand almost close enough before she hit the floor and closed her eyes.
Polly turned, still holding the blazing hot tray of food with her oven-mittens. Just holding it was becoming too hot and she quickly trotted over to the table and slid the tray over onto the table's surface. "Whew that's hot," she muttered as she threw off the mittens and blew on her hands, "ah well, fresh out of the oven does taste best doesn't it?"
She smiled up at Edwards, reaching to take his hands and pulled him over towards the table. "How about some soup?" she asked as she dished up the bright red fluid, making sure he'd get plenty of the small meat balls she'd cooked along with it. "As usual everything's home made." She paused, smiling pleasantly. "How was your day darling? Anything exciting happen?"
Just as TJ was about to respond, a piercing scream that went through bone and marrow was heard. "That's close by," Polly exclaimed, pulling her husband to her feet and rushing towards the door. The screams were coming from a few quarters down the corridor. "Thomas you should override the lock," she suggested, "it sounds as if someone's getting killed!"
Polly's eyes were wide with fright as she wrapped her arms tightly around TJ's waist, while at the same time trying to hide behind him. "Please do something!"
