OFF: Sorry for disappearing for a few days but I was on a short vacation at a major horseshow. But I'm back now. ON: Roz sighed and noticed that Liz looked a little uncomfortable in the surroundings. Roz: A short time before the fight, I was asked about my family. I told the cadet that I had none except the people on the base. Memories came back that I wish hadn't. The emotions that followed were anger, depression, and fear. I was glad for the fight because it gave me a chance to release the tension of those emotions. Liz nodded and Roz continued. Roz: My past has not been a peaceful nor a pleasant one. My father was Marcus Drouet an infamous mass murderer who became an expert at how to kill anyone. I had an older brother by the name of Alexander who wanted to follow in my father's footsteps. However, my brother proved himself to be almost incompetent. My father then turned to me and I proved myself to be a much more competent fighter and learner. As a little kid being brought up like this, I didn't know any better. My mother was very worried for my sake and finally lost her temper one day when I was 18 and said that I would lead a normal life. She threatened to leave Marcus and take me with her. He lost his temper with her and killed her. I was the one who found her with her throat slit. I then realized what my father had been making me into and I ran. She then paused in her story and remembered that day. Remembered the chase through the apartment and out into the street which ended with her then boyfriend pulling her into his apartment and locking the door. <tag: liz>

She listened to every word, and when Roz paused, she had no idea what to say. How could she know what to say, she had never been in a situation like that. Sure she was klingon, and she had killed before, but not in cold blood.
"I am sorry to hear that about your father. It is sometimes hard to understand why people do those things. If you want we can talk or do something else now, but ONLY if we get out of here. This place gives me the creeps." She says trying to make Roz laugh. She pulls a face, and smiles hoping to ease the tension.

" I'm tryin' to place ye'll accent, sir. It's something unisual to me." ... "Ye seem in a foul mood, sir." Cleburn said, "Care to talk? "'Tis from me mother's side o' th' family, an' from spendin' time in dear old Erin that me accent comes from, me fine young gossam," TJ explained. "In th' southwestern side o' th' island th' brogue is common.
"As t' me mood, be thinkin' nothin' of it. 'Tis just a wee bit o' tiredness I'm feelin', that's all. An' as for carin' t' talk, have ye ever known a true Irishman unwillin' t' do so?" he smiled.

Roz laughed and looked around. She had to admit it was pretty dark and mysterious but she preferred it that way. She turned to Liz.
Roz: Where would you like to go instead since you're so creeped out? There's the holodeck but I can't guarantee that the choice of program that would come up would be any less creepy.
She paused and then thought of something. Liz had only seen what Roz had showed her and she thought that Liz might get a better idea if she could see what Roz truly was, though she wasn't too sure about that as it might frighten her.
Roz: How about a little show down at the holodeck?

"Your one, but don't expect me to take it easy." She says chuckling. She gets up expecting a really big fight to happen. She doesn't know exactly what will happen, or if the showdown is between the two of them. She smiles.
"Oh and by the way I don't fight easy, so if you want an easy target I suggest you tell the computer." She says egging the woman on. They leave Roz's creepy quarters and head for the holodeck.

TJ had heard of the beauty of Scotland, though he'd not seen it himself as yet, but when Mr. McLeod asked him about what he missed in Ireland, his mind began to wander over the different geographical areas that made up what he called "dear old Erin."
"'Tis me own regions I miss th' most," he answered. "Oh, don't be gettin' me wrong. With th' rainfall over th' fields o' th' island, t' me there's no place on Erin that's bereft o' beauty."
TJ leaned back in his chair as his mind continued to wander, not only through the various counties, but through their history, as violent as it may have been. Folktales from the island flooded into his consciousness.
"An' then there's th' history, an' th' stories o' back home. 'Tis a fine hold they get on ye, weavin' their magic as they do about th' hearts o' th' listeners."
The Irishman smiled, enjoying his mental tour.
"An' 'tis puttin' me in mind t' use th' holodecks for first-hand experience in some o' th' history. Or perhaps, even further back into time..."

Might I be joinin' ye, however?"At that momment a call came through the comm badge. "2nd Lt. McLeod your orders have come through you are to report to the USS Scavenger ASAP." "Well, Commander, sounds like I will not be able to visit bonnie ol Caledonia." Cleburn said with regret in his voice. TJ was genuinely sorry the holodeck setting for Scotland was to be postponed. Despite his tiredness, he could have used the distraction, and for a brief moment was looking foreward to it.
"'Tis a shame, McLeod," he said. "Perhaps at a later time?"

Roz thought the whole way to the holodeck about who she could face to show who and what she was truly. She ran through all the people she knew from her father's gang back on Earth. She paused when she came to Maclob the xenomorph. He was a dangerous being but he wouldn't truly show Roz to the best of her abilities. However, he might be a good opponent for Liz, she thought, smiling slightly. She kept thinking until they entered the holodeck and Roz sighed when she realized who the only person was that would do what Roz wanted.
Roz: Computer begin fight training program.
A gymnasium with mats on the walls appeared around them and Roz saw that her clothes had changed to ones she could easily move in and they were dark. she thought. She pulled her hair back in a high ponytail and stepped up onto the mat on the floor. She turned to Liz.
Roz: This might get a bit dangerous. I highly suggest you not interfere. How well do you see in the dark?
<tag: Liz>
Roz nodded then turned back around and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath then spoke.
Roz: Computer upload character Marcus Drouet and eliminate all lighting.
The lights went out just as Roz's father appeared on the mats. Roz silently crouched down and pulled two daggers out from hidden places. She smiled slightly when she remembered first realizing that no matter where she was or what she was wearing, she always had at least one dagger on her person, just in case of course. Roz's eyes went green and the fight had begun.

When she was asked how well she could see in the dark she wasn't happy, but didnt show it.
"My eyes will adjust, but I do okay in the dark. I won't interfer with this, as I am to just watch. However I would like some action too." She says smiling.
She watches as the lights go out and her father appears. Her eyes adjust fast enough, and she sees Roz pull out a coulple of daggers. She smiles and steps away from her not wanting to be in this. She watches as the fight begins.

Marcus also pulled a weapon out from behind his back and Roz's eyes became big as she realized it was a retractable scythe. She never really knew why her father preferred that weapon but he did. She started circling around him.
Roz: It is time for you to die forever father. You haunted my steps for too long.
Marcus turned in the direction of her voice but she could see that he still couldn’t hear her as his eyes were still scanning the darkness in front of him. A wicked grin split his face.
Marcus: Are you sure about that conclusion you have come to? That I will die and not you? You betrayed your future among many other people.
Roz started to circle silently. She wasn’t going to let him convince her of anything and she could already start to feel her blood boiling.
Marcus: You betrayed yourself.
Roz: I found what you were making me to be and I made a decision for myself to change. As I knew you wouldn’t let me do this freely I had no choice but to run.
He turned at the sound of her voice in a different direction but he couldn’t pinpoint her. Roz was thankful that the walls of the gym echoed her voice throughout the room.
Marcus: Yes, and quite a run you did give me. I taught you well. But do you know whom you truly betrayed? Remy.
Roz froze in the darkness and her eyes flashed yellow bright enough that Marcus spotted her and charged her for a moment. Roz tried to step out of the way but he heard her move and moved enough to challenge her. Roz quickly blocked his first attack on her but his second knocked her off her feet. She flipped onto her feet and waited for him to keep coming right towards her but he stood his ground where he was but kept his eyes fixed on where she had ended up. She felt herself shift up to the next level and made her eyes slowly turn yellow.
Marcus: Yes, you betrayed Remy. If you hadn’t made a selfish decision to run from what had put before you, he would still be alive.
Roz: Even if he were still alive, he wouldn’t be helping you.
She slowly started making her way back to the mats and said nothing as she felt her fury rising within her. Marcus laughed.
Marcus: Do you really believe that? I brainwashed him when he was a child and I would have kept doing it if he hadn't fallen in love with you. And you have become quite cocky of what you think you know and can do.
Roz paused and looked at him. She wondered what he was planning. She then saw him turn around and face Liz. Roz's gut clenched and went cold. He knew that she was there! Roz charged to protect her new friend which was exactly what Marcus had been waiting for. He spun around and kicked in a high arc, hitting her in the jaw. Roz fell and tumbled back to her feet.
Marcus: Computer, turn lights on.
Roz's eyes became large as the lights came on. She got to her feet and faced him. He was smiling maliciously now. He charged her with his scythe and she fended it off with a slightly slower spin of her blades. Roz almost panicked when she realized she was still slower than him but she disengaged fear from herself. She leapt back when he brought his scythe down into the mat and she put her foot on the wood and leapt at him. She kicked him away from his weapon and then tumbled away when he hit the mats. She threw her daggers at him and then received a retractable quarterstaff. Marcus dodged the daggers with seeming ease and then he pulled his scythe out of the mats and charged Roz. They were moving with such speed that it was difficult for Liz to tell what in the world was happening. Suddenly, Roz ducked under a punch she shouldn't have and was kicked across the room. Her back hit one of the mats on the wall and she fell to the floor, unconscious. Marcus turned to Liz.
Marcus: I won't take you on. That would be too easy a feat. No, I'll leave one of my minions to you. Computer, upload character Maclob.
The black xenomorph appeared on the mats next to Marcus and he bowed to him.
Maclob: What is it you wish of my my lord?
Marcus pointed at Liz and Maclob smiled evilly, showing his rows of pointed teeth like a shark's. He started to approach Liz thinking, This will be fun.

Liz watches from the side lines while Roz's father pulls out a weapon and starts to circle.

Liz uses her telepathic gift to hear his thought, so she would know his moves. She didn't want to be caught off-guard. He comes toward her, and changes one of his fists into a sword wanting to take her on.
"Computer give me a full set of klingon weapons." She commands as they appear on the far wall. She quickly runs and arms herself with all of them, keeping the bat'leth ready for anything he might throw at her.

Seeing this monster coming toward her, she notices his arms split into four, two changing into hammers while the other two change into swords. He smiles as she starts to concentrate on him. Looking into his eyes knowing it is the best place to watch his movement, she notices one shoulder begin to move. She tries to stop him by catching his sword on her bat’leth, but she forgets the second part of his arm is attached to the shoulder, and gets hit with the hammer sending her across the room, and while flying she looses her weapon. She stands up seeing her bat’leth too far away and pulls out her swords. She waits for him to come after her again, not wanting to be taken off guard. She decides to dodge his arms at first, and watching how the shoulder rotates with both arms. Once she has it, she starts to use her swords looking directly into his eyes. She stops his sword, and remembers to dodge his hammer. He doesn’t look happy at the fact she has figured out the arm trick. He adds a few more, and she realizes this is not going to be easy. She stops both swords, dodges both hammers, and unfortunately is struck by the new arm which is now a dagger. She stagers back as she realizes she has been cut. She manages to get out of his way and out of the corner of her eye sees Roz waking up.

Roz started coming around and thought something was over her eyes but then her vision cleared and she could see Liz being attacked by the familiar figure of Maclob. She saw that her father was standing off to the side and was smiling maliciously. She saw that Liz was currently handling herself but she still crawled over and grabbed one of her sais. She threw it hard and with deadly accuracy. It hit Maclob right in his right calf and went through. He yelled in pain and Marcus spun around to see Roz getting to her feet. He ran with amazing speed and pinned her to the wall. He started squeezing on her windpipe.
Marcus: You betrayed yourself and me. The consequence for treason is death.
Roz: Dream... on...
She felt herself go back to the once familiar level she had hit back on Pern when she last faced her father. Her eyes turned pure white and blonde streaks appeared in her hair. She grabbed his wrist with one hand and looked at him. She kicked him right underneath the ribline. He doubled over and dropped her. She hit him between the jaw and throat and he flew backwards, clutching his throat. She bolted after him and he flipped up onto his feet and fought as hard and fast as he could but found that it wasn't fast enough. He however got in a lucky shot and hit her in the gut with enough force that she flew across the room and hit one of the mats. This time, however, she did not lose consciousness. She landed cat-like on the floor and glared at Marcus. He ran over and picked up his scythe. Roz cautiously stood up and called for one just like it. It appeared in her hands but it was wooden instead of metal. She charged him and they battled back and forth relentlessly. With one swipe, Marcus cleaved her scythe staff in two and Roz smiled. This was what she had been waiting for. She then battled enough to make one of the ends sharp and pointed. As Marcus was bringing his scythe down on her again, she caught the staff with one hand and glared at Marcus. He suddenly realized what she had been planning the whole time and Roz could smell the fear on him.
Roz: Good-bye Marcus.
Just as Marcus was about to run, Roz drove the pointed end through him. He died in midstride and collapsed to the mats. Blood pooled out around him. Roz then looked over and saw Maclob. She took the end with the scythe on it and threw it with deadly accuracy. It hit him in the head and he collapsed in a pile, with his malicious grin still on his face. Roz then looked at Liz and started approaching, picking up a dropped dagger in the process.

Realizing she is probably no match for the other woman, she surrenders and drops her weapons.
“Roz, this is your friend. I wouldn’t harm you. Maybe we should think of what to do next in here. Maybe we could go to a nice mountain by the lake scene, where you could teach me some of those excellent moves of yours.” She says hoping Roz would come out of whatever she was in. She orders the computer to change the background into what she just mentioned, since Roz wasn’t responding yet. She sees she is going to have to do something else, because Roz’s eyes are still white, but the blonde streaks have disappeared. She realizes Roz is returning to her normal state.
“Roz, I could use some new moves. Would you like to show me a few of them? I think they are really cool. I don’t think you could show me the eye trick though.” She says hoping humor works. She hears Roz laugh, and sighs relief.

Roz slowly came out of the high she was on from the fight and started to calm down. She managed to focus on Liz and realized who she was looking at. Her eyes went from yellow, to green, and then back to their normal brown. She laughed at Liz remark of her not being able to teach her the trick with her eyes.
Roz: No, I don't think I could. I don't think I could teach you much more than you already know either. Though if there's something specific, I might be able to enlighten you a little.
She winked at Liz and then saw her own dagger in her hand. She knealt down and sheathed it in her shoe. She walked over and helped Liz to her feet.
Roz: Are you ok?
Liz was about to answer when Art burst into the holodeck.
Art: What has been going on here? I've been trying to contact you for the past half hour Roz. I-
He stopped when he saw the reflections in her eyes of final release. He then walked up to her and saw a single blonde streak that remained from her fight. He touched it and looked at her.
Art: So that's what happened. You're finally free.
Roz nodded though Liz was a little confused. Roz shook her head and cleared it.
Roz: Art this is Liz Janeway. Liz this is my boyfriend, Arthur Cline though he prefers to go by Art. You were saying?
Art: I've arranged a trip for the two of us to Earth.
Roz's eyes lit up. She thought, Just in time, too.

She then remembered Liz standing nearby and turned to face her. Roz: I'm sorry you can't come with us Liz but I'll be sure to keep you updated on anything interesting that happens. She winked and Liz smiled and nodded. They walked out of the holodeck together and as they were approaching the turbolifts, Roz heard footsteps rapidly approaching. Her mind flashed momentarily back to fighting and she crouched down but she resisted the urge to pull the dagger out. She saw someone jump over her then lose their balance in the air. They tumbled down, taking Liz down with them. Roz saw it was a guy, quite tall in comparison to her, with white blonde hair. He stood up and helped Liz to her feet, apologizing profusely. Guy: I'm so sorry. I was in a bit of a hurry. Liz dusted herself off and looked into a pair of bright green eyes and a handsome face. <tag: Liz> Have fun with him! I shall be on Earth for a bit.

All of a sudden a tall man comes out of nowhere knocking her down.
"I'm so sorry. I was in a bit of a hurry." He says getting up, and then helping her up.
"These things happen. Don't worry about it. Where are you headed, and in such a hurry. Do you have a date or something?" She says noticing Roz looking at her. She ignores Roz's looks and continues to look at him as he sighs relief. She notices he is a lieutenant, and wonders what is going on.
"Lieutenant, I am going to the bridge for a report, then I plan on going for a drink. If you want I could try and find you if you wanted to head somewhere for a drink." He says smiling. She is unsure of what to say, and sees Roz has left her alone with him without even saying good-bye. She isn't sure if she should feel hurt or not.
"Sure, I will do that. Come and find me. I am Lieutenant Liz Janeway." She says smiling in return, he nods and heads off. She waits for the next turbo lift deciding where she will go.
