(OOC: Note for Graxen: If you haven't noticed yet, Bates is in a wheelchair. Just making sure you know "At least trouble didn't find my way," Bates said sarcastically. "Unless you count being shot," he said, looking up, counting on his fingers, "taken prisoner by Romulans, and being put through hellish work condition by someone who's pretending to be siding with them," he said, shooting S'reena a glance. "But anyway," he said, and turned to Graxen, "Betazoid ey? Just don't read my emotions too often. What's up here," he said, tapping his head with his finger, "is supposed to stay in there unless I say so," he said, adopting a serious expression. But then he smiled, laughed, and reached over and hit Graxen on the arm lightly. "I'm just teasing you, lad."

S'reena shot a dark look at the chief engineer, the smile fading rather quickly. "You forgot to mention killed," she said coldly, "and imprisoned for striking a superior officer, confined for aiding cadets when they were freezing to death, and another charge of defection."
She reached for her drink, a cold one this time, and gulped it down. "Not to mention nearly killed by the captain himself," she added, her voice still icy. She turned to the newcomer. "But all for the line of duty," she said, "all to save my fellow crewmembers."

(OOC: Joint post between S'reena and myself)
"Well excuse me, Commander Forgetful, but I wasn't here for that. It's called sarcasm. Learn to recognize it," he said, his expression turning dark as well.
"You would've known if you'd read up on the crew's history," S'reena snapped back, turning her hoverchair to face him. The front of the chair caught Craxen against his shins, but S'reena didn't notice.
"If you hadn't noticed, I was just a wee bit busy running a ship under superiors that wanted the impossible, and on top of that, they wanted it now."
"And which superiors were those?" S'reena said menacingly, "it wasn't me, I was conveniently relieved of duty, last mission anyway."
"Those would be your Romulan friends, Commander." He now glared at S'reena and nothing else.
"They were not my friends," S'reena snapped, "how dare you suggest that they were my friends!" She moved her chair closer to Bates, leaning forward to him. "Were they my friends, you would not be here today."
"Yeah, but I nearly wasn't, thanks to your 'help'," he shot back.
S'reena's face contorted with anger and she swung her left arm back and then forward, aiming at Bates' face which was now close to hers. Instead, she hit something else. Startled, she looked up to see Craxen between them, rubbing his jaw gingerly.

This was about right John thought, in the middle of ‘it’ right off the bat. ‘You know when your job is going to be interesting’, he continued to think; two officers in the middle of everyone, including Cadets, getting loud and … well … not acting like officers. Just then a pain hit his leg, it was S'reena’s hoverchair. “Ouch! …” John exclaimed … but was cut off by S’reena not even noticing her action. The two continued their squabble, not even paying attention to how many people were looking now, not to mention how every action in the place was now stopped and all eyes were looking toward their table. “Uh … guys … guys … HEY GUYS!” John was trying to get their attention and get them to notice their ‘show’ was drawing quite a crowd. “Guys, maybe we need to finish this elsewhere … hey guys … Commanders!” John tried again. John leaned in to try and get their attention and … POW! John saw more stars than he thought were in this system, shook his head and rubbed his jaw as the two looked at him with eyes wide. John leaned in so his voice couldn’t be heard by anyone but the two, “You know … the thing that comes to mind right now? ONE … him telling me how much of an example we must set … and how to lead by example; if this is any telltale sign; I have a job cut out for me on the Hanson. I don’t know what the history is behind you two … but I can say that is isn’t resolved.” John’s face had a determination on it that made the others sit back. John sat back, took his drink and placed it on the side of his jaw, “I tell you what, when I find my office aboard the Hanson, you two give me a ‘ring’… you two have stuff to work through.” Putting the glass back on the table, John smiled a bit crooked due to the pain and said, “On the other hand, may I suggest something else, grab a old fashioned pen and paper and do some journaling. They say the pen is mightier than the sward … well … in this case,” looking at S’reena, “ your fist. Oh, and Commander Bates, I don't think so ... " John loved to pull that joke on people who said things about him getting in their mind. With a smirk on his face now, John got up and mumbled to himself but just loud enough so they could hear, “I wonder if the cook could give me a raw steak for this shiner that was so kindly given to me by the,” rolling his eyes , “First Officer of the Hanson.” OOC (my last name starts with a "G" as in Green, not "C" as in cat ... no big deal ) ... (you know ... you could have just got me a drink ... that would have been all the welcome I needed ... LOL) ;D

ooc: whoops sorry there! As for the drink...of course we could have, but this has u more involved.....and Im sure the shiner's nothing Black can't fix S'reena sat back, stunned into silence, her expression gone pale and her eyes wide with surprise and shock. This was not a good way to make an impression on a new officer, and the counselor was most definately correct on pointing out that it certainly wasn't a good way to set an example. As usual, S'reena had let her temper, which she was known to have, guide her once more, but she was determined not to seem the guilty party. ~I haven't started this in the first place~ she thought grimly, momentarily forgetting the counselor was a Betazoid ~he started making snide comments, and he never once thanked me for the assistance.~ She wiped a tear from her eye, hoping nobody had noticed, and picked up her drink again. She had turned her back on Bates, ignoring him altogether now. "I'm sorry for the punch," she told Graxen, "it wasn't aimed at you." Then she noticed he was still rubbing his shin. "Nor had I intended to catch you with my current means of transportation." She sighed and swallowed back a sob, attempting to keep her voice down. "And I will see to it the chef will get you a raw steak if you want it," she added, not quite comprehending why exactly he had wanted the raw steak. Absentmindedly, she rubbed her own fist. The muscles in her arm were still sore, and the jolt from the punch had sent up a searing pain in her arm. Yet she was determined not to let Black find out, and she kept her hands under the table as she rubbed them together. She sighed again, then gazed into the crowd they'd gathered. "I am sure you have other topics to return to?" she querried, "surely they are more interesting than two officers having a disagreement!" Hastily, the crowd returned to their previous conversations and actions. S'reena shook her head sadly. "Why is it that people always finds other people's misery more interesting than their own petty conversations?" she murmured to herself.

Jason recognized the raw meat reference, and was quick to respond. "On earth, raw meat is claimed to help a black eye. However, Counselor," he said, looking over at Graxen, "I wouldn't bother. Theres no evidence to support the claim. Stop by Sickbay sometime and I can have that healed in about 30 seconds."
He now looked back and forth between Noah and S'reena, almost feeling the hate flowing between them. He stood. "S'reena, I think this would be a good time for your physical, wouldn't you say?"
He then turned to Graxen. "By the way, Counselor, all new crewmembers are required to come to Sickbay for a physical. Come see me as soon as you can. You too, Admiral," he said, eyeing the new CO.
He turned back to S'reena. "Commander?"

"Fine with me," S'reena replied gruffily, "but I insist on walking." She held out her hand towards Graxen and Drew. "Gentlemen, your assistance please?" she enquired. She still couldn't get up on her own, and sickbay was a long walk so she would need the support.
She caught Black's glance, and sneaked a weak smile at him. If either officer would support her to sickbay, then Black would have his chance to jump them with a physical as well.
She sat in her chair, looking up at Drew and Graxen and waited for them to help her up, and assist her to sickbay.

Jason then turned to Graxen. "By the way, Counselor, all new crewmembers are required to come to Sickbay for a physical. Come see me as soon as you can. You too, Admiral," he said, eyeing the new CO.
John, answering Jason, “it does seem I now have a reason to be there other than a check up. About the raw meat comment Doctor ... Ah … I was just ribbing S’reena with that comment … Hey,” turning to S’reena, “ don’t worry about it … now I have something to hold over you to get you in my office” smiling an good-natured smile.
S’reena held out her hand towards Graxen and Drew. "Gentlemen, your assistance please?"
John stood, held out his hand and offered it to S’reena. The look on her face was that of surprise, S’reena didn’t expect help form the guy she just punched. John, sensing the surprise, “Commander, you will find that,” turning to look at Jason, “to use another Earth saying Doctor;” looking back as S’reena again, “I’m like water off a ducks back … things just tend to roll off of me.” Leaning down to whisper in her ear, “your going have to teach me that wicked left hook Commander.” Helping her up, S’reena looked up into John’s black Betazoid eyes in disbelief, John felt. John responding to that feeling said, “Commander, you’re going to have to make some friends along life’s way … you can’t keep your ‘shields’ up forever you know.”

Noah hung his head somewhat in shame, as Black, Graxen and Hope left for Sickbay. After a few moments, he looked up to find Admiral Drew looking at him.
"Admiral," he said, and sighed. "I swear I didn't mean for that to happen. I was joking when I was complaining about the last mission. I really have no ill feelings toward Commander Hope."
"Then why did you fight back when she got angry, Commander," Drew said after a moment.
"I guess my temper got the better of me. My temper and stubborness sometimes get the better of me." He looked toward the door the other three had left through. "Now I'm not sure how to mend all this."
He spotted the three, now somewhat in the distance. Graxen seemed to be working hard to hold up Hope. "It seems young Graxen is having a bit of trouble. You might want to go help him out."

"What shields," she retorted, as she struggled to remain upright, "I am not a telepath, or in any way empathically inclined." With support only on once side, she was finding herself oddly off-balance but she managed to keep herself standing. Slowly, she started walking, holding on tightly to the young counselor's arm. "I have a few friends," she explained sofly, "but they keep transfering off the Hanson. Fortunately I still have my family. As you may have read in my records, family is very important to me."
She paused, then regarded her left hand, which was slightly discoloured from the punch. "Now that's odd," she murmured, as she flexed her fingers. "You want me to teach you how to punch someone?" she then asked in disbelief, "though I can't teach you this if you are right-handed......and I doubt I could do it again just like that. I generally don't go about striking people, unless sufficiently provoked. And believe me, I wás sufficiently provoked."

OCC: Sorry for lack of posts, I have had about 10 trojan horses on my computer, that were causing me no end of problems. Everything fixed now.
Drew wasn’t sure he could believe what had just happened, two of his senior officers publicly fighting, in front of lord knows how many fellow officers. And then his own Executive Officer striking another officer! Drew knew he would never live the shame down.
He was brought back to the present by a few simple words from Noah Bates:
"It seems young Graxen is having a bit of trouble. You might want to go help him out."
“I better had,” Drew agreed, “I’ll speak to you all later about this.”
Hurrying over to S’reena and Graxen, Drew helped the younger man hold up the Romulan woman, who was busy discussing something about right punches with Graxen.
“Let’s get you to the ship Commander,” Drew said, putting one arm under S’reena’s and helping her steady herself, “anyone would think you had alcohol in that tea!”
S’reena glared at Drew, giving the Admiral the impression that if looks could kill, he would be laying on the floor right about now.

While trying to support her on his own John was glad that he had went to the gym that morning, “S’reena, you know what I meant by shields. Let me ‘turn off’ my telepathic abilities for just a moment and expound on this for a moment. Your Romulan … raised off of Romulas … Starfleet has not had very many good relations with them … people distrust you from the start … you have had to be defensive; like I said … shields.” S’reena looked at him with a disgusted look; John saw it but ignored it and continued. “As far as your records, I haven’t been cleared to read the crews records yet. I wasn’t sure about what ship I would even be on until I arrived; so haven’t read anyone’s records.
S’reena paused, “now that's odd," she murmured, as she flexed her fingers. "You want me to teach you how to punch someone?" she then asked in disbelief, "though I can't teach you this if you are right-handed......and I doubt I could do it again just like that. Giving a short laugh John said, “Really? … you were provoked … never would have guessed,” smiling now with a mischievous smile. “S’reena, you beat all you know that … I mean … that was just an expression. That is ok, you don’t have to teach me that punch, and I was just joking.”
Admiral Drew came from behind to help, almost surprising the others said, “Let’s get you to the ship Commander,” Drew said, putting one arm under S’reena’s and helping her steady herself, “anyone would think you had alcohol in that tea!”
Making it to the ship, they arrived at the sick bay. Walking in John helped S’reena onto the Bio Bed and then said, “We are here … and you let us help you all the way down here.” S’reena was doing a really good job of holding her thoughts; John couldn’t sense anything from her right now except he knew she was holding back. John could also sense the child that was in S’reena, there was an unrest feeling from the child the stress from the conflict and from walking to the ship was too much. It was time to calm her down John though, he changed the subject. “I understand that you have a husband in Starfleet? Is he on the Hanson?”

Jason smiled to himself as he led S'reena into Sickbay supported by both Graxen and Admiral Drew. S'reena was very wise in asking for their assistance. It didn't occur to either of them that Jason could have easily supported her himself. But to Jason's fortune, neither thought of that.
As they helped her onto the biobed, he went for his tricorder. As he came back, Graxen asked, “I understand that you have a husband in Starfleet? Is he on the Hanson?”
"Yep," Jason answered for her flipping open the tricorder. "He's my Assistant Chief Medical Officer, and ship's pediatrician." He started scanning S'reena.
He found inflammation in her arm, and saw the discoloration. "It seems that punch hurt Commander Hope about as much as it did Counselor Graxen." S'reena shot him a look that said he shouldn't have mentioned it.
"Anyway," he said, continuing to scan her. "Things are looking good, ma'am. We'll up it to 2 hours a day."
<S'reena>
Jason now picked up a dermal regenerator, and went to work on Graxen's eye. "Hold still," he said. About 30 seconds later, he said, "There we go, good as new," he said to the newly healed eye.
"Now," he said grinning to Drew and Graxen, "since you're conveniently here, how about your physicals?"

"Now," said Jason grinning to Drew and Graxen, "since you're conveniently here, how about your physicals?"
"I don't mind Doctor ... do you have my records from the Appalachia? ... uh ... NCC-52136 I think is the number." John really didn't mind Doctors, he was one himself. "What is up first? You know my eye is good ..." John smiled.

S'reena smiled at Black as he mentioned upping the time out of the chair. Though she was really trying to get herself walking, she couldn't quite manage it on her own. Laughing to herself, she thought of the alcohol remark Drew had made, as she sat back on the biobed, folding her arms over her chest as she watched Drew's expression darken when the CMO mentioned his physical.
"Alcohol, really," she whispered, "he ought to know that I can't hold any liquor." Then she realised that was maybe just why he had made the statement. "Got you though," she whispered, her smile brightening at the thought. She watched with amazement as Graxen didn't even protest at undergoing a physical. "Good example there counselor," she said, raising her voice a little, "and yes, my husband is indeed on the Hanson." She pointed past the CMO at a dark-haired human male with bronzed skin. "Michael, meet the new counselor, John Graxen. Mr Graxen, meet Dr Michael Hope."
Michael came walking up to them, a puzzled look on his face. "What are you doing here?" he asked S'reena.
"Physical," she said brightly, conveniently not mentioning that she had given the new counselor a black eye only minutes earlier. "I can walk two hours a day now."
The human turned to the new counselor, accepting the outstretched hand. "Nice to meet you," he said stiffly, gazing from the Betazoid to his wife, and back to the Betazoid. Then his gaze locked with Drew's. "Ah admiral, they cornered you didn't they?"

"Ah admiral, they cornered you didn't they?" Michael asked
Jason grinned. "We must did. Your wife was most devious in helping me getting them here."
"I don't mind Doctor ... do you have my records from the Appalachia? ... uh ... NCC-52136 I think is the number. "What is up first? You know my eye is good ..." John smiled.
"Have a seat first, Counselor," he said, indicating the biobed. When Graxen did so, he said, "Computer, initiate full bio-scan on Commander John Graxen. You'll want to hold still for this."
As the test was proceeding, he went over to a console. "I did indeed recieve your records from the Appalachia," he said and brought them up. "Here they are. I noticed that your last physical was almost a year ago, which is why I wanted to be sure to do it soon."

As the test was proceeding, Dr. Jason went over to a console. "I did indeed receive your records from the Appalachia," he said and brought them up. "Here they are. I noticed that your last physical was almost a year ago, which is why I wanted to be sure to do it soon."
John, holding real steal as the Doctor has requested, he said, “Doctor, I recall the Doc on the Appalachia giving me a bio-scan after an away mission that had introduced us to a strange air-born spores. It was later found that the spores were from a plant that was simply spreading its seeds. The seeds were isolated in the transporter when we beamed back on-board. I’m surprised that scan is not in my records.” Jamey wondered if the scan simply didn’t get logged or if the Doctor on-board the Appalachia didn’t record the scan. “The scan didn’t reveal anything … at least the good Doc didn’t tell me if it did.”
John hoped this wouldn’t cause any issues with transferring to the Hanson and asked Dr. Black, “will this cause a problem”?

"Oh no, not at all, Counselor," Jason said, but quickly scanned his medical record to be sure that the mentioned incident was not present in it.
He turned to back Graxen. "Exposure to airborne spores is very common on away missions to Class M planets. Since the bio-filter removed them, and the Appalachia CMO reported no ill effects, it didn't go in your record."
A minute later, the results of the scan came up. "Slightly elevated telepathic activity, which isnt much of a concern," Jason said, looking over the results. "Other than that, you're fine. We're done."
Jason tried almost successfully to suppress a smile as he turned to Drew. "Your turn, Admiral."

S'reena watched as his expression darkened, but amazingly underwent the physical without further protest. "Now there's an example for the cadets to follow on," she praised as she chuckled, leaning against Michael as he stood beside her. She held up both thumbs towards Admiral Drew and smiled brightly.
Then she turned to Jason. "So I'm good to go?" she querried, "I seem to have a counselor's appointment." At that her own expression darkened, as she still didn't quite like counselors. She gave Michael a quick peck on the cheek as he indicated he had to return to work.
Quietly, S'reena wondered what Bates was doing now, and whether he was feeling guilty or not. Truthfully, she regretted their fight, and Drew had been right; it was certainly not the impression to give to cadets, that it was quite all right to have a brawl and punch one another.
"How's your jaw counselor?" she asked, her cheeks colouring a darker shade of green with embarassment, "and your shins? I'm awfully sorry about that."

"How's your jaw counselor?" S’reena asked, her cheeks coloring a darker shade of green with embarrassment, "and your shins? I'm awfully sorry about that."
“There doing ok now … thanks to the good Doctor here,” looking at Jason with a smile. Turning back towards S’reena John asked, “you really don’t have to come see me today,” John paused to see her reaction. “But I would like it if someone would show me around the ship and show me where the counselor’s office is located. I haven’t been on-board yet and would like to get everything setup before we start accepting Cadets. For that matter, I need to know where my quarters are as well”. John was looking at the crew assembled in sick bay; he took a wild guess and thought that this bunch wouldn’t be in this room like this again. John also wanted to sit with a seasoned instructor to ask questions about how things went … this was after all the first time John was going to be teaching at the academy … with raw Cadets.

S'reena's smile brightened. "I'd be happy to show you around the ship," she said, "see it as a first officer's job to do so." She winked at both Jason and Paul, as she 'hopped' off the bio bed.
"So, am I cleared to go?" she asked Jason, feeling that she'd already been in sickbay longer than she liked.
<jason>
Äll right then counselor, let's get you settled in."

Walking down the corridor, not much was said at first. S’reena started walking with her hands behind her back but with her injury, she moved them to her side for balance. John asked, “You ok? … you seem to be walking better now but it doesn’t seem easy.”
S’reena answered
A few more moments of silence lingered after her answer, but John was determined to make sure that would stop. “How is your pregnancy coming along? Do you need to go rest … you know we could do this later if you would like.” John was looking at her now with a concerned look; he could sense that she was tired.
… in the turbo lift now, S’reena calls out a floor number…
As the whoosh of the lift is heard in their ears and the light from the wall of the lift flashed hue of blue, a tear slowly ran down S’reena’s cheek. John saw it, but didn't say anything at first. He wanted to badly, but he was off the clock and nobody liked a busy-body. He only hoped she would start to talk about it ... what ever the "it" was that caused the tear.

"It hurts like crazy," S'reena admitted, "but I'm not going to be put down by it. Jason warned me not to overstrain, but I hate that chair and I certainly don't want to spend too much time in it." She frowned at the thought, because after the tour she would most definately need it again.
"Deck five," S'reena told the computer, then turned back to Graxen. "My pregnancy is coming along just fne," she answered, "I'm still sick in the morning, but that generally lasts three months, so I've got to endure this one more month. I certainly hope this pregnancy will be futher uneventful. My first pregnancy was not easy, and the second one was a disaster...." She trailed off, forcing the memory of being infected with the vampire virus out of her mind. She still remembered it vividly, along with the shame of trying to infect others. "And I'm perfectly fine in doing the tour, I'll rest afterwards, this is a duty that has to be done, and it's mine to do."
S'reena angrily wiped the tear from her face, hoping dearly that the counselor hadn't seen it. For some odd reason, she felt comforted by him, but she wasn't ready to trust him, or anyone from the counseling department. "Here we are," she suddenly announced as they stopped before a door, "computer, override lock and assign quarters to Commander John Graxen, chief counselor USS Hanson."
=^= Quarters assigned to John Graxen, Commander =^= the computer replied =^= please state rank number and security clearance for confirmation =^=
S'reena smiled weakly as the new counselor did as he was requested to do. "Tel me counselor," she started, "how many officers do you know that are in my position? A Romulan outcast in the service of the Federation?"

John thought that she was asking a leading question and wanted to tread lightly, seeing how this was going to be their first mission together; counselors and first officers did work closely together concerning the crew. Looking at S’reena with his dark eyes John answered, “I don’t know of one personally … however … I do know of a Cardassian on-board my last posting who had left his family behind to help the Federation, as he put it, ‘get his Cardassia back’.” John felt his own isolation because his family hadn’t wanted him to leave his home world to work in Starfleet; and they reminded him of that fact everyday. John paused in his conversation with S’reena for just a moment then continued. “Commander, I can’t stand here and say I know what you went though … or are going through. But I can offer a compassionate ear. You should know by now that things that stay bottled up inside simply lead to distress; and you do have a little one inside you who needs some tranquility.”
John stepped inside his new home, looked around and with an approving smile walked over to the computer and requested that his things be brought from the base to the Hanson. Now with a gentle look, he turned back towards S’reena who was still standing in the door way, “I would like to see where my office is Commander; I would like to see if my water fall will fit into my new space.” A mischievous look fleeted across John’s face, “I find the sound of the water calms people down while in counseling sessions; I’m already at a disadvantage you know … because most people don’t want to be there in the first place.”

S'reena frowned as she led the way to the counselor's office, which was quite close to his own quarters. "A waterfall?" she querried, "just...how big is this waterfall?" She shuddered at the thought of a large waterfall with complete lake fitting in the counselor's office. "And you're quite correct, most people don't like coming into a counselor's office. And that would include me too....you may have sensed by now that I don't quite like counselors; I've seen too many of them since I was about three, after my brother and his friends nearly got me drowned."
She paused again. "But I don't need you telling me you can or cannot imagine what I am going through or have gone through. Do you have a family, doctor? Wife? children? Do you know what it is like, to be actively shunned?"
She suddenly fell silent, and just stared at the counselor expectantly. She rather expected him to jump on the beautiful opening she'd just given him. Then she shrugged, it would be in her file anyway, assuming Yrdis had left it behind for the new counselor. "And after my family home was turned into a disaster area after a ship crashed there."
S'reena rubbed her hands together, and then over her stomach. "I'm sure that my baby won't sense any distress just yet," she assured Graxen, "and if it does I'm sure Jason will whistle me back on it.
