Kedzie frowned slightly. She felt that she had been a little insensitive, pressuring Fenel to do something that the Cadet couldn’t do. “We don’t have to play darts if you don’t want,” she offered. “We could do something else.”
Kedzie obeyed Lieutenant McCormick when the instructor told everyone to go to their quarters to get equipment. Kedzie didn’t think she had any hiking equipment, she wasn’t even sure what hiking equipment was needed. She guessed that it really depended on the environment.
Noticing that Fenel had already left, Kedzie hurried to catch up with her. “Do you know what kind of camping gear we will need?” she asked. “Because I don’t have any idea.”
In her room, Kedzie tried to decide whether or not she should take the bellaclavion. She wanted to, but she didn’t think it was the best for a camping trip, the strings were rather delicate. Kedzie packed the stringed instrument anyway, along with quite a few extra stings. If the strings broke, Kedzie decided, she would just replace them. When she was young, she had broken them so many times that fixing them was almost as easy as playing them.
Kedzie considered briefly about changing but realized that the holodeck would be able to take care of that. Besides, she wasn’t sure that she had anything that would be appropriate for camping. She grabbed her bag and headed for the meeting place, and then to the holodeck.
“And just by way of introduction, what are your names and what are you training in?” asked the doctor.
“Well Jason, I'm Cadet 4th Class Matthew Reynolds or just Matt and I'll be training aboard the Hepta in operations.” Matt introduced himself.
“I’m Shikako Kedzie. I’m a civilian, a musician actually, so I’m just sort of coming along for the ride,” Kedzie explained. Though how much of a ride it would actually turn out to be, Kedzie wasn’t quite sure.

Fenel was able to find the way back to her quarters with little difficulty. The other cadets where much more welcoming then her parent's had warned her, but then again her parent's where always a little protective. Once in her quarters she put on her civilian clothes, packed a couple dozen of the spice cookies she had made before leaving home and grabbed her camera. She would still need a pillow and something to sleep in. Camping was not something she had expected she would be doing.
A pillow from her bed, and a heavy blanket from her closet would do her for the night, she rolled them up together and shoved them in her knapsack along with her other things. She then headed out to find the holodeck. After a few minutes of being lost she spotted Joan and Kedzie and was able to join them to find her way.
Stepping into the holodeck she took a deep breath taking in the scent of the forest, and looked around out of habit, scouting out the footing. As it got darker she may need to find some support.
Another instructer joined them and introduced himself as the Cheif Medical officer of the Hanson before asking them about themselves.
"My name is Fenel Yevar, I'll be training in Science." she replied. Once the group set out she stuck close to Joan a few meters down the trail she spotted a suitable walking stick and picked it up. Following Joans orders she tried to keep an eye out for wildlife, but found it difficult as she was keeping her eye on the trail.

About half an hour into the walk, Joan thought it an excellent idea to stop in a few minutes. Some may need rest, and it would give an opportunity to look around them at the wildlife. It wasn't long before the group comes to a nice little spot where some can sit down if they so choose. The children must be tired by now.
"Alright this is where will stop and take a rest. The children, if not some of us, are probably a little tired of walking. There are a few spots to sit, and this gives us time to look around at the wildlife. Please have a look around, and lets see what we can find here. I already see a spider's web." Joan says hoping others will take the lead in this and point out a few things.

Kedzie tried to look around her for signs of nature, but didn’t see anything that wasn’t obvious. And it would be a little strange to go around pointing out all the trees, which were the only things she saw. Of course, it might also be very amusing. Kedzie decided against that though, and was concentrating on the ground, trying to make it at least appear that she was looking, when she saw the grass move a little bit. Her eyes tracked the movement, and when it stopped Kedzie saw that it had been a snake.
“There is a snake here,” Kedzie commented quietly, after having watched the snake just sort of lay there in the sun for a couple of minutes. The snake was a green-gray, and actually looked sort of...well, sort of cute. Kedzie wondered why it was just lying there, it looked kind of like it was sleeping.

At the mention of snake, S'reena snatched up her daughter Kahlan, who had raced forward to see the snake. The Romulan commander had no idea if the snake was poisonous or not, but didn't want to take any chances with her children present.
Kahlan however, didn't like being restrained and squirmed herself free to kneel beside the snake, looking up at Kedzie. "Is it alive?" she asked innocently, as she prodded at the creature. She squealed when the snake lift it's head and snapped at her, raking it's fangs over her tiny hand. She had no notion of the snake being possibly poisonous as she'd never even seen one before.
The little girl rubbed her hand and bit her lower lip. She didn't want the others, and especially not her mother to see her crying. "It's alive," she concluded. The girl looked a little pale around the nose. but everyone ascribed that to just having been frightened by the snake movement.
She raced back to her mother, who had sat down on a large log and was feeding her youngest child. Quietly, Kahlan walked over to Joan, climbed onto her lap and stuck her left thumb in her mouth, leaning against the young woman.
S'reena looked up at Kedzie. "The snake didn't do anything did it?" she asked, looking over at her daughter sitting on Joan's lap. Because she was feeding Yarna, she couldn't get up and check.

Joan was looking around when she noticed the snake as well. It is a mojave rattlesnake, and very poisonous. Joan was concerned about it, and hoped no one said anything about that. Unfortunately Kedzie brought up it was there, and Joan saw Kahlan race over there.
"Computer, delete that snake." Joan said, but not in enough time. She saw the snake move, and wondered what happened. Kahlan came over, sat down in her lap, and started sucking her thumb.
"The snake didn't do anything did it?" S'reena asks with concern in her voice. Joan looked down at the child and started to look her over without the little girl knowing. She noticed nothing on the legs or arms, and then she saw it. The snake had bitten Kahlan in the hand.
"Dr. Black, could you please come here. I need some information about something." Joan says trying not to worry S'reena.

Fenel had been searching on the ground for any insects when the snake made it's appearance. Fenel had stayed away at the mention of the snake. It wasn't that she didn't like them, more that she would rather not be within striking range. When it was removed from the program she headed over beside Joan and took a look at the youngster's hand. "She should be alright, the safety settings are on aren't they?" Fenel had never been one to get so wrapped up in a holonovel to ever forget it wasn't real.

Jason stopped, then saw a rather familiar looking plant. He went over. Jewelweed, he thought to himself. But when he reached in to touch it, he got an idea of why it was there. He brushed up against another plant, and his arm immediately had a burning sensation, which was getting worse quickly. He had rubbed up against a stinging nettle plant.
He broke off the stalk of one of the jewelweed plants, and broke the rest of the plant off the stalk. He broke open the stalk, and rubbed the juice on his arm.
"Dr. Black, could you please come here. I need some information about something," he heard Joan call a short distance away.
Jason came over, still rubbing down his arm. When he got strange looks from it, he explained. "I rubbed against some stinging nettle, which is a plant that causing an immediate burning sensation on the skin. Fortunately, the computer had a natural version of safety protocols, as it provided me with some jewelweed, who's juice is a natural remedy. Now, what did you need?"
Joan spoke up. "Kahlan was bit by a snake on the hand."
"It was green and gray," Kedzie added.
"She should be alright, the safety settings are on aren't they?" Fenel asked.
Jason thought a moment. That sounded familiar. "Green and gray, about a meter long?" he asked, and got a nod in response. "Computer, give me a tricorder." One appeared in his hand, and he scanned Kahlan's hand where it was bitten. "The venom's already spreading down her arm." He took Kahlan's hand, and lowered it below her heart. "Computer, give me the anti-venom for a Mojave rattlesnake in a hypospray."
The hypospray appeared, and Jason quickly injected Kahlans hand at the wrist. She winced at the sensation, evidently not liking it, but Jason couldnt help them. He scanned her arm again. "Its working," and he sighed. He turned to S'reena. "I didn't want to worry you, Commander, but that was a rather poisonous snake, and it bit your daughter, known as a Mojave Rattlesnake. I was bitten by one once." He turned to Fenel. "The safeties probably were, but I wasn't going to take that gamble."
He scanned it once again. "The venom's almost completely gone. Remind me to remove some parameters from the computer's random settings for this program."

Realizing that no one knew she had fixed the safeties to a low level so this could take place, Joan kept the information to herself. She didn't want anyone to know at this time and place, and thought it best to be part of the cadet's training.
"Alright, time to move on. The camp site isn't far from here, and I think I hear water. Am I wrong Jason?" She says looking over at the doctor.
"No, that is water we hear. Means the camp site isn't far." Jason says looking northeastern. Everyone gets up, and we start heading in a northeastern direction. She sees the way Jason is looking at her, but she doesn't pay it any attention, and turns back to the two cadets she has in tow.
It takes another hour before the group reaches the small clearing. Joan sees it, and smiles liking the view. She becomes nervous though as it is near water.
"Ok, we need to make camp. We have several tents that need to be put up. I am sure we can have the good doctor show up how to put up a tent, or we could try to do so on our own. Doctor." Joan says taking out her tent and deciding she was going to put it up herself even if it meant fighting with it. She gets everything out, and sees how the poles are suppose to go. It doesn't take her too long before she has one side up. The other side takes less time. She notices S'reena is having a little trouble, and goes to aide the woman. She gets upset when Joan comes to help, so Joan backs off only watching to see if she changes her mind about it. Joan walks around asking if any of the cadets need help with their tents. She helps put up a couple of them, and then seeing no one else wants her help, she heads over to the lake carefully, as so she won't fall in, filling up her canteen.

S'reena gives a cry of frustration as she's not succeeding in setting her tent up. To the side, Yarna is playing with her older sister, who's somewhat drowsy from the antidote that was given her against the snake venom. She was angry with herself for not paying better attention, and is now regretting ever having brought the children along.
Determined to set up the tent herself, she rejects Joan's assistance, and busies herself again, peering intently at the manual that came with the tent. At last, she got the tent set up, after which she sets up a fenced playing pen for the girls, so that nobody would be extremely bothered by watching them.
Carefully, S'reena takes out her Honour Blade, and starts a ritual with it, which to people unknown to Romulans would look like some sort of dance. In fluent motions, she makes a series of jabs, slashes and punches, varying from using either blade tip, blade edge and hilt. She is so concentrated that she does not realize others are watching her, nor that she is slowly approaching the edge of the water.

Since Matt was finally finished with is tent which took him a lot longer than he had hoped. Thankfully Commander Hope was having a harder time with it then him so no one noticed. Matt went to Commander's Hope's childrens side to see if they were content. Matt then was aware of S'reena and her dance, which is what Matt would call it. The commander for some reason didn't notice that she was about to fall into the water so he called out to her,
"Commander Hope, stop," Matt yelled after her. S'reena was taken back for by the lost of her concentration.
"Matt why did you do that?" she asked in an angry voice. Matt just pointed to the river which was only a foot away.
"Your will going to fall in," Matt said.
"Oh I shouldn't of lost track of my bearings," she smiled at him. Matt satisfied with her answer went back with S'reena's daughters.
"You need to take care of your mom girls," Matt said. It seemed Yarna understood him when she started to cooe and make spit bubbles.
"Hey Joan, what are we going to do now?" Matt asked her.

(OOC: I know this is long, but was necessary. And actually, this isnt enormously long, and I wanted to be descriptive ) Jason walked into camp, looking around. Very nice, he thought to himself. The Computer didnt often place the campsite by the waterfront. He chose a spot about 30 feet back from the fire circle, and set his tent to face the door. The tent set up rather quickly. He had brought a mid-size dome tent, so all he had to do was slide the poles into the tent, and the tent was erect. Next, he pulled the hatchet off his belt, and used the hammer end of it to drive the stakes in to keep the tent down. Finally, although he didnt entirely see the point under such conditions, he attached the rain fly over the top of the tent for authenticity. He stopped, took a step back, and thought the tent was in a nice spot in relation to the fire circle. Whilst everyone else was busy fighting with their tents, Jason looked over at the fire circle. Fortunately, one constant he had set in the program was that there were always large, long logs placed around the fire ring for seating. Next, they would need firewood so they could actually have a fire burning in the fire-ring. He went out into the woods around the clearing, gathering small sticks for kindling. After carrying quite a few large handfuls of them, he went out after the larger wood. He gathered smaller logs off the ground, but eventually decided he'd have to resort to chopping up dead trees. He pulled out his hatchet again, and unsheathing it, went out in search of a good dead tree, also taking the axe just in case. After a few minutes, he found an excellent tree, which was large, and obviously dead. He was about to take a hatchet to a low limb when the thought occurred to him, and he looked up the tree. There were plenty of limbs beyond his reach, and this was the dead tree he had seen in the area. So unsheathing the axe, he proceeded to chop the tree down. When the tree began to fall, he cried "Timber!" for effect. After the tree fell, he realized he wouldnt be able to drag this back to camp on his own. So he headed back to the clearing. Matt spoke up just as he re-entered it. "Hey Joan, what are we going to do now?" he asked. Jason called over. "We're going to build a fire, Mr. Reynolds. However, before we do that, I need some help to drag a tree that I chopped down back over here for firewood. So Shikako, Fenel, Matt, lets go." They came over, and followed him into the woods. When they reached tree, he explained. "Now, I want you to know that this tree was dead before I chopped it down. Notice that it doesn't have any leaves, unlike the others. Never chop down a live tree. And having said that, lets start pulling." They each took at place at one of the lowest limbs. After several minutes of grueling effort, they were able to drag it back. After a few more minutes, Jason was able to remove some sizable limbs, and broke them up. "Now, I just need one more thing," he said, and went out into the woods again. Finding a pine tree, he picked up as many dead pine needles as he could carry in his hands. "Alright, everybody over by the fire," he said, walking over carefully as to not spill the tinder. Walking over to the fire ring, he placed the tinder in a mound at the center. He addressed the group. "Now, one thing to remember is that I'm building this in a fire ring. If at all possible, you should do so. A fire like this sterilizes the ground, and will prevent anything from growing. A well-used fire ring will have ground so sterilized that it would take decades for that ground to be able to grow anything again. Anyway, what I've put down is known as tinder. Its what you light to get the fire going." He started adding small sticks, arranging them in a teepee shape. "This is the kindling, which the tinder lights. I'm arranging it like this so it will hold itself up. Next, I take some larger sticks and form a basic teepee above to start. These larger sticks are whats going to last in the fire and keep it burning." He went over to his pack, and pulled out a stone, and a metal loop-shaped object. He came back. "This is known as flint and steel. Striking them together caused a spark which lights the tinder." He took them, and struck them together. After quite a few tries of the sparks going wayward, one hit the tinder and caught it on fire. "There we go." He said. After a few minutes, the fire was burning quite brightly. He places some more wood on it, then went over to a log and sat down. "Now we sit down and enjoy," he said smiling.

Her concentration broken, S'reena forced a smile at the cadet. Next she saw Jason disappear into the woods, only to come back quite some time later, calling for assistance. She made note of who went into the woods with Jason, then returned her attention to her moves, but not before she made sure she'd moved away from the water somewhat.
Involuntarily, she shuddered, glancing at the water from time to time to make sure she'd not make the same mistake. Unexpectedly, she lashed out at an unseen enemy, circling as she moved the blade, then holding it in her left hand, the next holding it in her right.
She knew the training ritual by memory, having practiced it since she received the blade. She took a short sprint, made a jump-kick while jabbing forward with the blade, landing gracefully on both feet.
Next thing she knew, Joan McCormick is standing before her, glancing at her curiously. "I am performing a training ritual for my Honour Blade," S'reena explained, "however it requires concentration...."

Kedzie struggled with her tent. She was vaguely aware that everyone else was finished, but she finally managed to get her tent up. Sighing with relief, she turned to see what everyone else was doing. They seemed to be continuing to help set up camp. Kedzie sighed again, this time realizing that she still had work to do.
“So Shikako, Fenel, Matt, lets go,” Dr. Black instructed. Kedzie stood to help, and followed Dr. Black to the tree. When they reached the tree, Dr. Black told them never to cut down a live tree. Kedzie wondered why, and what would happen if there were no dead trees around?
She helped to haul the tree over, and the fire was set up, but not by her. Dr. Black did the setting up. Kedzie watched the fire warily, and noticed that it was casting off little bits up ash and ember. She moved a little further back from it. She did not relish the idea of catching on fire.
“Now we sit down and enjoy,” Dr. Black said smiling. Kedzie looked hesitantly back, but she wasn’t sure how much fun it would really be. It wasn’t that she was afraid of the fire, but she didn’t exactly trust it to stay within the fire ring, no matter how confidant the Doctor seemed.

(O.O.C Argh! I wrote a big long post here during my lunch break and it didn't post it!!!!)
Fenel had to all a tent forth from the holosuite as she had been under the impression they would be sleeping under the stars. The tent appeared on the ground infront of her, a tangled mass of polls and canvas. "Computer, provide instructions for the tent." she commanded, a moment later a PADD appeared ontop of the canvas. She picked it up and read through the instructions. It seemed fairly strait forward so she got started.
ten minutes later she realised it was not as simple as it had first seemed. She had managed to get the whole thing laid out, but discoverd she was too close to the water. After hauling the tent farther inland she began to put the poles in place. She worked all throughout S'reena's knife dance, and missed Jason cutting down the treee completly.
When she finally put the last poll in the rest of the group was seated around the fire. she stepped back and looked at her "creation" It was hardly recougnisable as a tent. She wasn't sure whether or not the tent was a part of some test the Instructers where preforming so she hadn't asked for any help, but enough was enough. "It's good thing I'm not going into engineering because I haven't got a clue what i did wrong." she commented hopeing someone would offer thier assistance without her having to ask them.
"let me give you a hand." Matt offerd, Joan followed close behind and within the three of them they where able to fix the polls and begin hammering the nails. by this time it was getting dark, and Fenel was finding it difficult to focus and keep her self steady. She tried hammering several pegs in, but had hammerd her hand more often then the peg. Matt offerd to finish with the pegs while her and joan unrolled the banket and Pillow. Finally done they headed back to the fire.
"Well that was an adventure." Fenel laughed, realising she probably looked like a fool. But that could be mended easily enough. "Would anyone like some cookies?" she asked, holding out the box of spice cookies she'd broughten with her. Kahlan looked up at her mother for permission.
"Alright dear, but remember to say thankyou." S'reena answerd.
Kahlan squealed in delight and snatched up one of the treats. "Thank you." she said softly as she took a great big bite. secounds later her eyes filled up with tears and she dropped the cookie. "Spicy!" she yelped.
"I'm so sorry, I forgot." Fenel apologised, the poor kid had already been through soo much. "I've never found them spicey and I just figured others where the same."

Maybe I should find someone who will teach me. Maybe mother will. She thinks looking out at the water, and then turns her attention back to S'reena.

"Could you teach me how? I would really like to learn." Joan says and wonders if it is possible for her to learn a weapon. She remembers what happened earlier that day in the holodeck on a picnic, and wonders if that will happen again. Was it something I did? Joan thinks and then turns back to S'reena waiting for her to answer.

“Would anyone like some cookies?” Fenel asked, her tent having been put up. Kahlan immediately took one, but let out a squeal when she discovered they were spicy.
Kedzie took a cookie and nibbled a little. It wasn’t that spicy. However, it was spicy enough that after she had finished her first cookie she decided not to take seconds.
She glanced at Kahlan, who was still crying. “Computer, create a cup of slightly warm milk chocolate in my hand,” Kedzie requested, hoping that she wasn’t out of line. “Here Kahlan,” she offered. Kahlan glanced at the drink suspiciously. After all, Kedzie had been the one who had spotted the snake.
“It’s okay,” Kedzie assured her. “It’s just a cup of hot chocolate. You can smell it, it smells like chocolate."
Kahlan took the chocolate, and sniffed it. “It smells like chocolate,” she admitted suspiciously.
“That’s because it is chocolate,” Kedzie responded. “It tastes good too. Besides, it will get rid of the spicy taste.”
“No more spicy?” Kahlan tried to make sure.
“That’s right,” Kedzie answered.

"Want to duel?" S'reena finally asked, and Joan's eyes light up. She wasn't sure though, as she had never dueled with this weapon before, and with a Romulan... this wasn't exactly what she had in mind when she asked to be trained, then again it did sound like fun.
"Sure, let's duel." Joan says and smiles.
"It is time to wipe that smile off your face." S'reena said extremely serious. Joan chuckled, and then the duel began. S'reena used the blade in several quick moves, and Joan quickly dodged and diflected them. Making a few good moves of her own, she doesn't realize they are heading toward the lake!
It only takes a few more moves before both women are in the lake and calling for help. They bob up and down in the water and find several of their party at the shore, but they are both so far from it themselves. Joan remembers the last time this happened, and then all of a sudden Joan's strength gave out. She sank not returning to the surface, and blacked out. While she was blacked out an animal figure came and rescued both her and S'reena from the lake. Both women were unconscious.

While Lt McCormick and Cmdr S'Reena were beginning their misadventure, Jared was catching up on the group using a pair of holowings. They worked in essence like a hanglider; you threw yourself off a cliff and onto an updraught. They took the form of skeletal metal bat wings which came out of an apparatus strapped directly to the back like a rucksack. Steering was done by manipulating the wings using handles for this effect on the foremost fingers of the wings. When in use, they projected black wings between the fingers of the frame and wide enough out of it to carry the person plus some amount of baggage. The general effect was one of a large and slightly artificial bat, but they were silent and could change colour to blend better with the sky when needed, although the person would have to change their own clothes themselves. Generally, they were good for espionage and sneaking up on people, but their main limit was battery time, which was a few hours at most. Jared had been a long way behind because they had taken some time to reassemble from storage in his bag. He was far from an expert on them, but liked using them where possible. He had not had a chance to do so in years and so wouldn't pass up this chance, although it meant taking a lot longer than the others. He had noticed when he checked the holodeck program that the safeties were on minimal, but he assumed Dr Black just preferred the realism. When he neared the camp, he saw the group were standing around two recumbant figures. A smaller creature had dashed off into the bushes nearby but none of the group seemed particularly interested in it. He swooped in behind the group and executed a passable landing, but still managed to land off balance although he managed to correct this without falling over. He was both glad that the group were not watching but was worried by what was going on. He could see S'Reena's children very upset and their new guardian Matt Reynolds was trying to calm them down, true as ever to his paternal instincts. As he ran nearer to the group with his now skeletal wings folding up behind him, Jared could see why they were so upset. S'Reena was on the floor alongside Lt McCormick. Dr Black was kneeling by both of them.

Doctor Black worked hard showing the cadets how to recucitate the two women, S'reena first and then Joan. Both women were back to life very fast, although S'reena was stubborn. "Thank you, doctor. I hadn't realized we were so close to that lake. We need to be more careful in the future, S'reena." Joan says. "How come you didn't just swim out of that problem?" one of the cadets says. <tag: anyone want to take that role?> Joan ignores the cadet and looks around for who saved her. The animal pops out from the bushes. Hello! I am over here. You need to learn to swim, babe. Joan realizes that voice and looks around for the ower, only to find her not too far away. A cadet looks over at it and screams. "It's okay, cadet. That would be mine, well kind of." Joan says gesturing for the animal to join her. It comes quickly pounding as it goes. "She is called Leena. I rescued her from a labratory when she was just a baby. I think I may have spoiled her a little, as she can sometimes be rotten. I believe S'reena and I owe our lives to her. Don't worry, she doesn't bite, and if she tries anything she should know that she is toast. Leena is a new species called Katouranon." She says as she gets a ' What are you going to do about anything I do?' from Leena. She wants to make a face, but decides not to. The cadets might think it a little strange, and she hopes Leena didn't scare anyone. Joan notices the children want to play with Leena, in which Leena chuckles and head over. Joan shakes her head while chuckling. Leena gives them both a ride around, and the girls laugh while they are having fun. Joan smiles, and looks over to find S'reena looks worried. "Don't worry, S'reena, the girls are safe. Leena wouldn't harm anyone, unless they were trying to harm me. She loves your girls, and hasn't had so much fun in a long time." Joan says hoping to lessen S'reena's worries. OOC: For anyone how would like to actually see Leena, well here you go. mercury.walagata.com/w/janderson/Leena.png

"Don't worry, S'reena, the girls are safe. Leena wouldn't harm anyone, unless they were trying to harm me. She loves your girls, and hasn't had so much fun in a long time." Joan says hoping to lessen S'reena's worries.
When Matt first saw the creature he was startled. He at first thought the creature was going to attack the kids, but saw that it was playing with them. Then Matt hears Joan give an explanation to what it is. She is called Leena. I rescued her from a labratory when she was just a baby. I think I may have spoiled her a little, as she can sometimes be rotten. I believe S'reena and I owe our lives to her. Don't worry, she doesn't bite, and if she tries anything she should know that she is toast. Leena is a new species called Katouranon." Joan shakes her head while chuckling. Leena gives them both a ride around, and the girls laugh while they are having fun. Joan smiles, and looks over to find S'reena looks worried. Matt finds the creature called Leena very amusing and playful. When the creature saw it was being stared by Matt it came to a stop. Matt wasn't sure what it was going to do, but was sure that he was safe. Matt gave Joan a look of ' can I pet her'.
Matt felt that the creature could understand him and asked her if he could pet her. When Matt saw that Leena gave him a slight nod and put out his hand and placed it on it's head. Yarna gave a shout of laughter when she saw her new friend meet the other.
"You are wierd, but beautiful," Matt said as he continued to pet Leena.

S'reena sits gasping for air, wrapping a blanket that's been thrown over her shoulders tightly around herself. She watches Matt Reynolds with her daughters, and sees a large winged creature approaching them. She suppresses a shudder and tries to cry out but only a meek yelp escapes her.
Beside her, Joan explains that the creature is her pet and that it wouldn't harm the girls. In fact, Yarna even seemed to like the creature. S'reena gave a sigh from relief, taking Joan's word for it.
"Some team aren't we," she says ruefully, "we're to be an example for cadets. Nice example we are, we can't even swim!" She casts a frightened look at the lake, and shudders again. "What's your story?"
She gets up on shaky legs and settles on one of the large logs near the fire, holding out her hands to warm herself and dry her wet clothing.
=^= Captain Marcell to Commander Hope, please report to the Hanson =^=
S'reena frowned. "spoil sport," she muttered, glancing at Reynolds. "Could you watch the children? I am sure I won't be too long. If I am not back in an hour, please return my children to me aboard the Hanson. I'm sure you'll find your way around."
She gathered the blanket around her, got back to her feet, feeling a little sorry about having to leave this band of young people. "Computer, arch," she said, and the exit from the holodeck appeared right in the middle of the camp fire. S'reena shrugged and walked up to it, feeling the warmth of the fire as she stepped through.
Her feet were sogging in her boots as she walked down the many corridors that lead to the bay where the hanson was docked. She found her way to the ready-room and entered after knocking on the door. "You called captain?"
<wanna take this capt'n and bring a nice end to this?>

"I lived in a place with no surrounding water. I had no chance to learn to swim. I was hoping someone would teach me how. I figure I still have time, besides I always have Leena to protect me. She hasn't failed me yet." Joan says smiling.
=/\= All cadets and instructors report to the Hanson to prep for departure =/\=
"Well that spoils this little adventure. Hopefully the cadets learned something here. Let's go everyone. We have to report to the Hanson pronto. I had fun, and thanks for teaching me about the Honor Blade. It felt good holding one." She says as everyone exits the program heading for the Hanson.
OOC: That should end it nicely.... It was fun while it lasted.... Will have to remember this for the next batch of cadets.
