Laren had been wandering the station lost for the last half an hour and was glad when she finally stepped onto the promenade. She stood there for a moment taking in everything. The promenade was filled with people all going about their business; she had to hold her bag close as she pushed though the mass of people. She wasn’t heading anywhere in particular just following the follow of people and taking a quick glimpse at everything as she walked by.
She could feel the fear in her stomach building up, the feeling felt familiar from when she had first started the academy and as she remember that, it seemed to comfort her. But there was also another feeling of excitement building up inside her, she was a natural born adventurer and couldn’t wait to get out there, to see the universe and all the marvels it had to offer. She wanted to discover something new, see things that no one in Starfleet had seen before.
Laren nose lifted as she was drawn to the smell of baking. She traversed her way though the swarm of people and into a remote area of promenade where she could see a small bakery. She entered the bakery and felt the rush of warm air. She took a seat at one of the clothed tables and placed her bag on the floor. She gazed around the room; the place was small and Laren was one of a small number of people in the room.
Laren jumped as she saw the elderly Andorian woman stood next to her.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” she apologized.
“Don’t worry about it, I was just looking around,” Laren responded.
“I’m Tanta Maria,” Tanta introduced with a smile.
“Jetur Laren, nice little place you have here.”
“Thanks. Would you like anything?”
“What would you suggest?”
“Well…” Maria though for a second, “I’ve just taken some Cornish pasties out of the oven.”
“Sound great.”
Maria headed away from her table to greet another customer who had just walked in.
OCC: Anyone want to join me, I’d love some company.

Cadet Laren-- Welcome to the Starbase Conqueror, home of the Section 47 Academy! I cannot join you in the bakery, as I am out with the USS Hepta, but there are plenty of others wandering aimlessly about the Starbase that would be happy to join you (Roz, Felix... ). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We are here to help you. Welcome to Section 47, and Happy Simming!!

Greetings Laren.
If you're really quick, I suppose you could still catch the Hanson? We've only started our mission a week ago..so if you can make the jump and pretend you've been on the Hanson all along there shouldn't be a problem (should there...ONE? Tony?)
If you tell us where you'll be training in...we can point you to the correct instructor:)
regards,
Commander S'reena Hope XO USS Hanson

It's up to you, Cadet Laren. If you think you can catch up and jump right in, you may. If you would prefer to wait for the next training mission, the Hepta will probably be leaving in three to four weeks.

Welcome to the Academy Cadet!
I'm Commander O'Connor, Operations Instructor on the USS Hepta. If you need any help or just want to chat or anything, you can always contact me (contact details are in my profile, just click on my name and you'll get everything you need to contact me).
I trust you will enjoy your time on S47. You're lucky. We're even starting up an Era project now, where you can sim in a different timeline with a secondary character once you have graduated from the Academy (not before, sorry). Should you be interested, you can always have a look at the ERA Board at the bottom of the Second Fleet.
But that's in the future (well, technically it's in the past ). First you have to complete the Academy and I promise you it will be fun.
See you around!
Kind regards,
Commander James O'Connor, COO Instructor USS Hepta

Roz had noticed Art had been acting very peculiar lately. When she had asked him what was up, he told her that there was nothing. She didn't totally believe him but sometimes it was near impossible to get something out of him that he was holding back. She made her way down to her favorite bakery, Tante Maria's, and saw that Tante Maria had just startled a cadet. Tante Maria saw Roz out of the corner of her eye and when she was walking back to the kitchen, she smiled and Roz and motioned for Roz to go be social with the cadet. Roz laughed a bit and approached the cadet cautiously. She touched the cadet on the shoulder, who flinched a bit. Roz: (laughing a bit) Hi. Laren: Hi. Roz: A little jumpy are we? I'm Rosalyn Drouet, but I prefer to be called Roz. She held out her hand for the cadet to shake. <tag: Laren> OFF: Welcome to the Academy cadet! I am the one and only civilian to have graduated from the Academy (yeah me!). The rest of these old cooks are nutters, I'm the cool one of this group. Just kidding but all of us who are present on the base, or soon will be as the Hepta is coming back and is back for the most part, are free and willing to help you in any way needed.

“A bit, it my first mission I’m slightly nervous,” Laren responded as she shook Roz’s hand.
“That’s understandable, everyone is,” Roz comforted.
“Sorry, I’m Jetur Laren. I prefer just Laren,” Laren introduced. Laren had spent most of her teenage years on Earth and had gotten use to being called Laren by everyone, not just her close friends as in Bajoran tradition.
“Operations, Engineer…?” Roz asked looking at the yellow on the cadet’s uniform.
“Engineer,” Laren answered with pride.
“Why Engineering?” Roz enquired.
“My dad was an enlisted engineering. I use to help him and when I was old enough I did some work experience with a few of his Starfleet colleagues and I enjoyed it so much that I decided I wanted to be a engineer in Starfleet,” Laren explained. Roz nodded in understanding.
“I’ve heard I’m getting assigned to the Hepta for my training mission, do you know anything about my instructor?” Laren asked as Tanta came over to the table.
“Sorry to interrupt, but here’s the Cornish pasty you ordered,” Tanta said, placing the pasty in front of Laren.
“Thankyou.”
“Would you like anything Roz?”

Roz smiled a bit when remembering her own first experience on the Hepta. She had gotten herself lost, thoroughly and had no idea on what she was supposed to do as the botany specialist on the ship. She felt slightly confused but was adaptive. Her skills however had come in handy when it came down to it. She had saved the ship and one of her comrades who had gotten captured but a few hostiles on the planet. At the mention of engineering, she thought, "I have a feeling she and Art would get along well together.[/color]" At the mention of taking after her father, Roz remembered her father and managed not to show the pain she remembered from growing up with him and her brother. When asked about the Engineering instructor, her mind instantly went to the memory of Hyrash-Kyat. She then remembered that he was now retired or something along those lines with his child and wife. Now there was a woman in his place. Roz couldn't remember her name. She came out of her memories when asked if there was anything she'd like.
Roz: Do you have any cinnamon sugar cookies?
Tante: Of course.
Roz: How big are they?
Tante Maria put her finger in an "o" shape the size of a saucer. Roz smiled and nodded.
Roz: I'd like two of those please.
She then turned back to Laren.
Roz: Why don't we sit down over there?
She gestured to a table off to their right and they walked over and sat down.
Roz: I knew the old Engineering instructor but we never actually met except briefly when my father tried to blow up Engineering and caused a large mess. He was a Grazerite and not the most placid of beings I've ever met. He gave a lot of orders but he still was kind to his cadets. However, he is now living with his wife and child at home. His place was taken by a woman. Her name is... oh what is it?
Roz's brow furrowed and she bit her lower lip and tapped one finger on the table. Her eyes then lit up.
Roz: Jessica Stephens. Commander Jessica Stephens. I haven't been on the Hepta in a long while so I don't know anything about her. I do know some of the other officers on board however. They are serious about their jobs but they like to have fun and are extremely friendly.
Tante Maria came back with the cookies and handed them to Roz. Roz thought they smiled absolutely delicious! She took a bite and waited for any other questions Laren might have for her about the academy or about herself.

Laren took a bite out her pasty. It was delicious. She sat back in her chair feeling more comfortable and less nervous about her first assignment.
Laren though about last week when her father had taken her to see her oldest brother (Taran). He had insisted that Laren saw Taran before she left Earth. Laren had kept and kept putting it off; her father had finally dragged her there last week. Laren dreaded visiting Taran because he’d made it clear to her that he didn’t think highly of her for joining Starfleet and that she was betraying her Bajoran roots like her father had. The experience had gone badly as they had the same argument they’d had every time she’d visited for the since she’d joined the academy and Laren had stormed out like usual. She shuck of the though, she hated thinking about Taran.
“So how long have you been on the station and what’s it like?” she asked Roz.

Felix was still in ops finishing over some daily reports when a message came saying that some more cadets have arrived to the base. So he wrapped up his current job and went out of ops and down to the promenade. The promenade was crowded as always. People walking or running from place to place, others just stood there and were talking.... After he enjoyed a nice walk around the promenade he decided to stop by Tante Maria's Bakery. As he entered he looked around the place and it was crowded as always. He noticed Rosalyn Drouet, the civilian, seated at a table with a cadet who wore a yellow uniform. So he went over to them to introduce himself. "Hello", he said as he approached their table Off: Welcome to S47 cadet Laren I hope you will enjoy your time here with us both in the academy and in S47 overall.

“Hi, I’m Laren,” Laren said as she stood up and held out for him to shake.
“Felix Savali,” he introduced taking her hand. Laren gestured for Felix to take a seat at the table.
“What do you think of the station so far?” he asked as he sat down.
“I haven’t had much time to look around I only arrived about an hour ago,” she said, “But if the promenade and all the corridor I got lost in is any indication it’s a very large place.”
Felix and Roz smiled.
“It is large,” Roz said as she took another bite out of her cookie, which she seemed to be enjoying.
“What do you two think of the station, any places which I should visit while I’m here?” she asked Felix and Roz.

=Before Felix's arrival= Roz: How long I had been here? I've lost track of time but it seems quite a long time has passed since I first came here.
=After Felix's arrival= Roz looked at the newcomer. She had seen him in the hallways but she had never met him personally. He introduced himself as Felix Savali and that triggered a memory in her memory. Unless she was mistaken, he was married to an old friend of hers, Tiffany Rylka. He sat down at the table with them.
Laren: What do you two think of the station, any places which I should visit while I’m here?
Roz and Felix looked at each other and he gestured for her to go first.
Roz: The base as I said is quite large and if you manage to find your way around here quickly, you'll be fine when it comes to actually getting on a ship. I got lost on the Hepta on my first mission and I felt quite stupid. There are still times when I find myself wandering on the base and have no idea where I am. But now I've wised up and learned to rely on the computer to get me back to my quarters or whatever destination I'm heading towards. As to any place you should visit, there's one place that I occupy frequently. The holodecks. There are thousands upon thousands of programs in the databases that you can use for whatever purpose you wish.

“I’m looking forward to be being on the Hepta, I hope I don’t get lost on board,” Laren said as she finished her pasty.
“Just ask the computer if you do,” Roz suggested.
Laren had lived in space since she was about 6 years of age after she moved from Deep Space Nine back to Bajor after the dominion threat. After the dominion war Laren, Jiro (her brother) and her father had moved to Earth as her dad got stationed to utopia planitia. She never really got us to navigating her way around space stations and starships. It had always taken her a while to find her way around, like when she did some work experience on utopia planitia, it hadn’t taken her a week to know how to get to her work area and back to the shuttle with out getting lost. But as she spent more and more time on starships and space stations she was becoming better and better at finding her way around.
“Tell me a bit about yourselves, any family?” Laren asked.

After Roz was done with expressing her opinion of the Star Base it was Felix's turn.
"Well I don't know what to say about it lol. I have only just arrived here recently so haven't really had the time to visit any places other than my office, the command center, the holodecks and this nice little bakery", he started
"And the last time I was here, that was while I was still a cadet and a lot of time passed since then and a lot of things change since then. So I wouldn't be of much use of pointing out what to visit except for the holodecks.", he finished
After he was done talking they chatted about other things a bit and cadet Laren said a few things about herself.
“Tell me a bit about yourselves, any family?” Laren asked.
"Well I have my parents, who are on Earth, which would say a far away from here, and its sort of a good thing, they aren't breading up my neck", he said and smiled
"And of course there’s my wife and daughter, who I haven't seen for a few months now, as the baby is with my wife and she is currently serving on the USS Victory as the counselor.", he finished making a note to send a message to Tiff who he hasn't spoken lately as he’s been moving around a lot
“And last but not least, there’s my sister, who’s well I don’t really know where she is now, she works for SFI and well you never know where she might pop up”, he laughed

Roz's smile faded and her eyes dropped at the mention of family. Her mind focused on her life in San Francisco before she had to run. Her mother, Caroline, and father, Marcus, and brother, Alexander. She remembered what her life was like before her mother's death and then she felt like she was going through her entire life up to this point in fast-forward. From Alexander killing Remy, the first man she ever loved, to when she had to kill her father. She looked up at Laren and blushed slightly. Roz was really glad that Laren couldn't read her mind otherwise things might change dramatically quite quickly.
Roz: The only family I have anymore are my friends here on the base. The rest of my family is dead. My mother was murdered by my father, my brother, Alexander, was killed by one of his own men, and my father... is dead.
Roz wasn't sure whether she wanted to tell the others that she was raised to be a killer or not. She kept quiet though and waited for Felix to reply to Laren's question.

After Roz returned back to their table, Felix's commbadge chipped.
=/\=Ops to commander Savali=/\=
"If you would excuse me for a minute"; he said to Roz and Laren as he got up from the table and moved a bit away from the commotion to talk to the officer he had on the commline
=/\=Go ahead=/\=
=/\=Sir, there was a commotion in the Starburst, apparently some klingons were causing trouble=/\=
=/\=Yes I've seen, i was sitting just across the hall from the Starburst=/\=
=/\=Ah, okay then sir. Anyway base security is going to let them cool off in a cell for the night and will cut them loose tomorrow. Just thought you might want to know=/\=
=/\=Ok, thank you for letting me know. Savali out.=/\=
And as the call was over, he returned to the table where Roz and Laren were chatting.
"Sorry about that, just had to take the call"; he said as he sat down
"So do you have any expectation to what life in Starfleet is going to be"; he asked Laren
Then he turned to Roz
"I'm glad you decided not to fight with those klingons and cause much more trouble that way. Sickbay personnel are busy as it is", he added and winked at her

Roz laughed softly then frowned wondering if he meant her and Xin-Ling or the klingons. Laren looked confused and Roz explained.
Roz: Quite a few people here on the base will tell you that when it comes to hand-to-hand fighting, it's not recommended that you take on Xin-Ling or I. We are both deadly when fighting for our lives and very skilled.

[Blushing at Roz's compliment, as in her own eyes she yet had much to learn in the skills of Gung Fu] Thank you, Roz. I not sure it deserve, though.
Welcome to Starbase Conqueror, Cadet. OFF:
I'm not technically here [out shopping now], but wanted to say "hello" to new cadet.
