Joan was relaxing in the Black Hole, when all of a sudden the lights went out. She wasn't happy, and didn't like this at all.
"Sorry, Tom, I have to go, something is definately up. I might be back later when we figure this out," she said and left before he could reply.
Joan went for the turbolift, but noticed they weren't working. She looked around, and noticed an entrance for a Jeffries tube. She walked over and opened it hoping to get to the bridge, and fast.
Joan had been inside the tube for about an hour finding it slow going as several people were using the Jeffries tubes to get around. She was about to pass another deck when she heard her name. She looked, and smiled at the other woman.
"Hello, Kat, I see you are around. I was just going to the bridge. Would you please go and see where the cadets are, we don't want anyone to panic," she said, and Kat nodded, waiting her turn for the tubes.
"I think they were still visiting the Hanson, at least that is what I heard last. I will make my way there to see what I can find out," she said, and Joan nodded leaving to get to the bridge. She was glad Kat was around to check on the cadets, and didn't worry about that any more.
Joan found the bridge was just as black as the rest of the base.
"What is going on here?" She said, and an officer turned to her.
"Sorry, ma'am, but we aren't sure what is going on. One minute we were fine, the next we are in dark," he reported, and she only nodded.
"What is down?" Joan asked, and the report was everything. Joan realized they were sitting ducks for now, and she hated the thought.
"Okay, I am going to engineering, stay put, and wait to see if we can get anything," Joan said, and sighed as she entered the Jeffries Tube again.
On the way to engineering, Joan found Kat again.
"We have the cadets and a lot of crew down on the promenade at Tante Maria's. No one understands what has happened, but we want to help," Kat reported, and Joan frowned a bit.
"Right now we are uncertain as to what has caused this. We can use all the help we can get though. I am coming with you down to the bakery," she said.
A bit later everyone was around, and Joan wasn't sure what to say.
"We have a problem. The base is completely offline, and no one is sure how it happened. Anyone in dock is stuck with us for the time being. We can't make heads or tails of this right now. We need some form of communication with the rest of the base. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this happened?" Joan asked hoping someone knew.
OOC: This is for all areas of the base, even the Figher Wing, since you guys are doing anthing right now. Lets have some fun.

Damon Taylor was standing by a porthole when the lights went out.
He turned round but the light from space didnt help in anyway to identifie others in area.
From memory he was near to a bakery. maria something he thought to himself. He waited where he was until he was approached by someone with a torch.
"whats going on , why are the lights out , does this always happen"
"dont worry cadet , its just a small problem im sure , but commander McCormick is working on it"
Then the stranger moved on , seemingly trying to count the cadets and move them all to same place , the bakery. She opened a locker somewhere and handed out a few Wrist-lights to some people then dissapered back into a jeffries tube hatch.
Damon remembered he had brought his own hand held torch , and scrambled for it in his bag.

Crystal tries to absorb the information that Conqueror is out of power, but she can't make it make much sense to her. What can cause this sort of thing? Besides a direct attack? Rather than trying to further figure out something that seemed too complicated, Crystal listens to the suggestion that everyone travel to Tante Maria's. Crystal did want to go back to Conqueror soon anyway, though not necessarily under these circumstances.
She moves with the others through the darkened station, toward Tante Maria's. Fortunately some of the others know the way rather well, and there is some emergency lighting. In Tante Maria's, Crystal sees quite a few cadets standing around, some of them with lights. Now that they have arrived there is little to do besides wait around for someone to explain the situation, along with what she could do to help. Still, Crystal walks about the group, hoping to calm people down as well as she can without knowing at all what is going on.
Someone appears, and starts talking, and Crystal figures that the young woman talking knows what's going on, but, evidently, not entirely. “Does anyone have any suggestions on why this happened?” the woman asks.
Crystal doesn't have the slightest idea of why this happened, besides the chance that they were attacked. If that is the case, however, Crystal hopes someone would notice. “It's possible it's some kind of sabotage, right?” Crystal suggests, since that is another obvious possibility, at least to her, and it's not one that can afford to be ignored just because Starfleet doesn't want to admit that not everyone likes them 110%.

The chatter at the bakery was reaching quite a volume now and The young cadet , Damon Taylor , didnt like the crowd so he moved to the slightly lesser crowd outside the bakery.
As he reached the edge of the huddle he overheard someone mention sabotage.
He was concerned by this possibility and decided to see if he could find out what to do if this was the case. He approached the officer who he had overherad and hoped she would be able to advise him.
"ecuse me Lieutenant , but did you say this was deliberate?"

When they headed back to the base led by Lieutenant Williamson the contrast was neat between the well enlightened Hanson and the darkness of Conqueror. The only light available was provided by the emergency cells, just enough not to walk into someone else. Every unassigned personnel – in other words the cadets - was gathering to Tante Maria’s bakery, an interesting reflex.
Commander McCormick showed up and explained – or tried to according to the few things that they knew – what was happening. She asked for any idea. Someone mentioned sabotage. Charlotte moved forward.
“I don’t know if there is any relation but that already happened into the holodeck 20 the other day. I know there has been an overloading in holodeck 36 as well.”

"What happened in the holo-deck" <TAG:CHARLOTTE> Damon asked the new comer quickly. The cadet wasnt scared as such , but was very concerned out how such a large station commanded by starfleet could have suddenly been plunged into darkness while so many cadets with very little or no experiance were present.
Had he been on his ship , a small shuttle with only impulse engines or warp 2 at most , he may have been able to figure it out. But this is a huge ship , where was the back up system??
His only thoughts were that something must be very wrong for the lights to be out still , it must have been at least 30 standard minuites since he heard the faint buzzing of power conduits.
Then it dawned on him , is it just the lights? were they soon going to have troble with heat? or with oxygen?

"Excuse me Lieutenant, but did you say this was deliberate?” a cadet asked.
“Not exactly,” Crystal replies, turning to the cadet who is talking. “I'm not sure. But it's a possibility, and I don't think we can afford to rule it out. I hope it's not deliberate, it could have been accident. But I'm fairly certain that this is the result of someone. The computer system should have too many back-ups for this to randomly occur.”
After hearing that the holodeck had gone down, twice, Crystal steps toward the young Commander who had informed them all of what details she knows. “Have you gone down to engineering yet?” Crystal asks. “Because I would suggest, if they don't know the problem, looking at the data records up to fifteen minutes before the system crashed. There should be a back-up copy that is available, even if all power is cut. Is all the power cut, by the way?” Crystal asks. With the size of Conqueror they wouldn't run out of oxygen for at least ten hours, but gravity would go much sooner.

Hearing the officers and other cadets talking about the situation , Damon Taylor decided that he didnt want to stand idle while all this was going on , and feared being forced into this rabble in the bakery until the situation cleared itself.
"Can I help at all , Did you say you needed people to go to engineering?" <Tag Person in charge>
He felt that this would be a fitting distraction , and that anybody tht had to crawl that far to the engineering deck wouldnt want to go alone.

OOC: Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse anyone here. When I said the bridge, I meant Ops. This is a starbase, not a ship. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
IC:
Joan listened to the group for a few minutes.
"At this point anything is possible. This could simply be an accident, or it could be deliberate. We don't know and we need to find out. I do need someone to head to engineering. I have been to Ops at this point, and they had nothing good to report, actually they couldn't figure this out.
All systems were fine right before the black out. No one knows what has happened. I realize we don't know each other. We should introduce ourselves. I am Joan McCormick," she said. Introductions were passed around quickly.
"Good, now that we know who everyone is, Taylor, you meantioned about going to engineering, so I want you and Crystal go down and have a chat with the engineers. See what you can dig up," Joan said. She wasn't sure what everyone else could do.
"I think I have a way for us to communicate with the other decks," a voice said, and Joan looked to see where it was coming from. A cadet walked over with a walkie talkie in their hands.
"Good idea. Communications is out, and we can't be walking around the jeffries tubes to find out who said what. We need many of these for each team. Right now we have to wait and see what engineering says. Good luck you two, and don't forget to take this with you," she said handing the Lieutenant a walkie.
"Does anyone have any suggestions on what we do next?" She said hoping someone knew what to do.

“Commander…”, Cadet 4th Class Antonis approached with a calm but puzzled voice, “ This may not be anything significant, but I’ve been receiving these… well thoughts you could say. As a Deltan, my telepathic abilities are active; but very limited. The only time I have had a neurochemical reaction similar to what I’m feeling today was on the Federation planet Betazed. Perhaps if there were a betazoid member of the academy amongst us, or another advanced telepathic member, they could best filter the ‘noise’.”

S'reena Hope nearly ran into the group standing in the middle of a corridor. She'd gone from the celebrations to her daily jog and what better place to do this than on a huge starbase?
She'd been mid-run when the lights had gone out, but with her perfect night vision she'd so far been able to avoid any major collisions...up until now.
The Romulan dusted off her clothing, frowning when her already wet attire kept clinging to her skin. She listened for familiar voices and reckognized both Shinsei's and McCormick's voice. "What is going on!" she demanded of the two officers, peering into the direction where she'd picked up their voices. "Is everyone unhurt? McCormick, are the cadets safe?"
She had missed any of the previous conversations, and thus also didn't know what had happened exactly.
She peered around again, looking for the young man she'd managed to coax back towards the party. She was certain she'd seen him leave with the admiral. "Drew!" she finally exclaimed, "is Admiral Drew safe?"
Generally, when a station's power went down, senior officers, especially flag officers were ushered to safety by base security and/or marine corps. "Has anyone seen Admiral Drew?"

Pleased that Someone had taken charge , Damon Taylor listened intently to McCormick's instructions to head down to engineering with Lt. Shinsei.
He offered her a slightly nervouse smile knowing that although they didnt know anything about eachother they were going to now be crawling through jeffries tubes practicly on top of eachother for quite some time now .
Crystal led the way to an entrance hatch and Damon was pleased that she at least looked like she knew the way and hoped that her confidence would hold out.
"hold on one moment ok" Damon pleaded as he routed through his kit bag. He produced a Tricorder , a dermal regenerater and a small phaser along with a belt for the items. He knew they would probbly need the tricorder , even tho it was an old model , and had really hoped the other objects wouldnt be needed at all.
"OK im ready , how far is it?"

“It had shut down in the middle of a recreation. No power left. Just like now.”
Someone grabbed her arm. She realised it was Isis. In the darkness she could still see Isis’ antennae moving around her forehead in alarm.
For the moment all she could hear was the talks between cadets and officers trying to figure out what was going on. Charlotte had delivered all the information she had so she stepped back to let them working. She walked with Isis out of the crowd and tried to hear the noises the young Andorian was talking about. After a few seconds focusing she started to hear crackles, like they were on an old navy ship groaning.
“I suppose it’s the normal complain of the frames and hull since all the ordinary noises from electronic and power engines aren’t anymore.”
Charlotte had just finished her little speech when a loud crack came from the promenade ceiling. She lifted her head to it.
“I’m not sure if I prefer this to be something moving in the walls or the metallic frames to collapse.” Her irony was hiding her worries. She looked back at Isis. “I think I’d feel more useful with my equipment. My tricorder is in my quarters…”

Wolf: Was exploring the station when everthing went black. He had seen Commander hope jogging just alittle ahead of him. With the station in the black he didn't like the idea of the Commander in the open. There last mission had proven the senior staff made great targets. He jogged to catch up with her. " Commander you realy shouldn't be out here in the open right now" His training was kicking in and he wasn't going to let another senior officer get hurt. " Commander Starfleet Regs state when a unkown occurnce has happened senior staff are to have body guards it looks like you just got one" <Tag Hope>

“Commander. If I may be so bold, could I run a thought through with you? I’ve been thinking about all the comments made by the other cadets, and something has occurred to me.
As you know, the gravity generator networks are employed throughout a vessel's interior to provide the proper sense of downward gravitational force, this in turn provides both biological advantages and psychological comfort for extended periods operating and dwelling in space. Power from the EPS network feeds the small cylindrical units, this in turn powers the superconducting central gyroscopic rotational disc, which emits low energy gravitons through a chrylon gas solution. Various field bleed ratios can be programmed, resulting in a stable, synthesized gravity environment.
Now if I’m not mistaken, 'ElectroPlasma System Taps' (EPS), is basically a system of microwave power transmission waveguides. As far as know, these waveguides are components of the Warp system, and channel plasma back into the energy reserves for general electrical power usage throughout a starship. Given that we are not on a ship, I was wondering if the same principals apply here?
I know that onboard a starship, the Fusion Reactor is a Power generator, which employs the nuclear fusion of hydrogen isotopes into helium. These devices are incorporated into the Impulse propulsion systems aboard Federation Starships. Also, numerous other 'auxiliary' fusion reactors channel power to ship's systems when the impulse and warp systems (EPS) are off-line, or inactive for whatever reason. I suppose my second question would be if this is the case when there are no warp systems such as on the Starbase Conqueror?
If this is the case, I find it highly likely that the blackout is somehow connected to the Holodeck programme mentioned by some of the other cadets that was utilised for zero gravity activities.
Perhaps I am totally off-course with all of this, and I do apologise for taking up so much of your time if I am, however the electromagnetic resistance that would be generated from an EPS shut-down without auxiliary fusion reactors kicking in would cause slight sagging in the duranium sheets that make up the star base’s hulls and frames causing these sounds. It would also explain the ‘telepathic noise’ I’ve been picking up all day of which I could not make any sense of.
In any case, and again I apologise if it is not my place to say so, but some of the Cadets are fearful that this may be an attack on the star base. Although I am sure that this is not the case as such a threat would have been detected well in advance by Starfleet before threatening the Academy, never the less it might be wise for officers to reassure the cadets of this in order to avoid chaos and panic breaking out.”
As Antonis finished what he had to say he took in a deep breath. He couldn’t believe he had just spoken the way he just did to the Commander. In a way he was proud of himself for having the confidence to do so, and surprised with himself for thinking of a possible cause to the blackout, but he was also deeply worried that he had just made a fool of himself if what he said was totally incorrect. He felt his palms sweat with anticipation of the Commander’s response.

ooc: I'll assume antonis is talking to both hope and mccormick...as ppl don't seem to notice me lol
ic:
"Commander Starfleet Regs state when a unkown occurnce has happened senior staff are to have body guards it looks like you just got one"
"Do they now?" S'reena retorted, while still trying to listen to the Deltan cadet's stream of words. "As long as you stay out of my way lieutenant," she finally relented, when the young marine seemed determined to be her shadow, "and do keep an eye out for danger hm? Wouldn't do to have another command officer shot would it?"
When she saw the look on Wolf's face, she instantly regretted her words and she placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry," she said softly, "that was uncalled for. Now....this cadet seems to have a certain train of thoughts.."
The Romulan turned to Antonis. "Could you recap that for me please?" she asked, "I was..preoccupied with something else."
She peered into the darkness, past the deltan cadet to where she assumed McCormick would be. "Commander, did anyone offer themselves as your bodyguard? It seems to be regulation these days....or does it only count for admirals and first officers?"
S'reena chuckled softly, guessing what the young human's response would be. "Please continue cadet," she encouraged Antonis, then motioned at Wolf. "You know, you could of course go and find admiral Drew...being more senior in both age and rank I suspect he'd need a shadow more than I do. I'm already surrounded by enough people as it is."

“Commander Hope? I apologise Commander, I didn’t recognise you in the dark. I was just raising my thoughts to the fact that the gravity generator might be the cause of the blackout, as it is a primary feed from the EPS.
As far as I know, the EPS power transmission waveguides, channel plasma back into the energy reserves for general electrical power usage throughout a starship. Furthermore, numerous 'auxiliary' fusion reactors channel power to ship's systems when the impulse and warp systems (EPS) are off-line, or inactive for whatever reason. I suppose my question is if in the case when there are no warp systems such as on the Starbase Conqueror, does the same system apply?
If it does, It would be likely to assume that the blackout is somehow connected to the Holodeck programme mentioned by some of the other cadets that was utilised for zero gravity activities.
The only way that the auxiliary fusion reactors would not kick-in would be if there was a complete shutdown of the network. The most probable cause for this to happen is if something managed to short-circuit the EPS network feeds, causing them to shut down completely.
Since the power from the EPS network, feeds the gravity generator networks employed throughout a vessel's interior, and given that a zero gravity environment was simulated onboard the starbase, is it possible that something in the holodeck programme for zero gravity might have triggered everything off?
Again, perhaps I am totally off-course with all of this, and I do apologise for taking up so much of your time if I am, however the electromagnetic resistance that would be generated from an EPS shut-down without auxiliary fusion reactors kicking in would cause slight sagging in the duranium sheets that make up the star base’s hulls and frames causing these sounds. The technobabble the cadet was uttering still made no sense to S'reena, though she began to understand what he meant. "Perhaps we should look into it cadet," she replied, "do you have any suggestions on how to proceed?"
She walked up closer to the cadet and gazed at him. "And you are picking up telepathic noise you say?" She gave him a worried glance, wishing her former counselor was present. He too had some telepathic abilities, and even the previous navigtion instructor had been a telepath. With the departure of both, the Hanson had been bereft of telepathic instructors.
Except Yarna, whom S'reena knew was also somewhat empathically inclined. Yet, she didn't want to submit her four year old daughter to these dangers. "For now, I don't think SBC is in any danger," S'reena continued her train of thoughts, "but just to be sure I want everyone to find something to arm yourself with, anything will do."
Unconsciously, her hand went to her own dagger and she made sure it was loosely tucked away in it's sheath, so that it wouldn't get caught anywhere when she might need it. "Proceed Cadet Antonis," she ordered, "what do you have in mind?"

Wolf: Looked at Commander Hope her comments stabbed at him and reminded him of his faillure " I promise you Commander my life will come to a end before I let anything happend to you, as for senior staff you command acess code for the hanson would be very big prize for someone stupid enough to try and force them from you. The admirals is already taken care off security is making there way to him now. I will notify security to send someone for Commander McCormick" Wolf noticed the commander checking for a weapon she had hidden.
checking his own gear he found he had a smaller hand phaser which he hadn't turned in yet and he still had his knives and tomhawk hidden in his uniform thinking we marines aren't a very trusting lot walking around always armed. " Commander I still have a small hand phaser half charged from the pratice range" he pulled it from where he had it hidden and offered it to her "I"m still armed but you could give it to commander McCormick if you wish" <Tag Hope>

"You can give that phaser to the commander yourself," S'reena answered angrily, "she's right there. And I wasn't making a request lieutenant, I gave you an order. I am quite safe here with both Lieutenant Shinsei and Commander McCormick in attendance and the three of us can quite keep these cadets safe."
She glared at the younger officer. "Admiral Drew, however, is much more important and I am charging you with his safety. Don't disobey me lieutenant!"
S'reena turned her back on the dumbstruck marine, knowing full well that she was being harsh on him. She knew he would get the job done properly, despite his one misstep during his training mission and she was doing this to him for his own good; he needed to get the confidence that he could do the job right. And what better than to send him after the person he failed to protect earlier?
"Now......did anyone have any suggestions? I do however suggest we move to a more secluded area, while standing here in the open we do make perfect targets as Lieutenant Runningwolf has just plainly pointed out."

“Commander Hope, with your permission, could I inspect the earlier mentioned Holodeck with an engineering tricorder, and run some scans on recently used holographic force fields?” Antonis said in a nervous but convincing voice. “Perhaps Lieutenant Runningwolf would be kind enough to escort me there whilst trying to identify the whereabouts of Admiral Drew?”; “If that is alright with you too Lieutenant.”

S'reena nodded her consent. "Lieutenant Shinsei, perhaps you could accompany the cadet and marine lieutenant?"
She gazed directly at the Deltan. "Keep an open comlink at all times if possible. Come to think of it, we haven't checked whether communications are still operational." She gave them a mock-glare. "It's doubtful since the entire station seems to be without power."
S'reena had been certain she'd seen more cadets walking around. "Cadet Cain are you about? Why don't you, Cadet Isis and Commander McCormick go to OPS and see what you can discover there? Myself and Cadet Taylor will head down to main engineering and see if we can snatch Commander Smith on our way. Runningwolf, see if you can find Methos or Daya. I would feel much better if they were apprised of our situation also."

Daya had been walking around the station after his newest promotion, beaming happily at the people he knew. When the power went out, his first instinct was running to a wall panel to try to divert some power, but he found none.
"Great, this is just what i need" Daya turned down the hallway and continued on, heading towards engineering. When he got down there, the hustle and bustle of the people working didnt stop,"well at least there trained right" Daya looked around, the emergency lights on, he grabbed an extra wrist light, and looked around. "Has anyone seen Admiral Drew?" He called out, "He just left, right before the lights cut out, , down that way" ONe of the engineers called out, Daya thanked him and left trought a jeffries tube, finding the doors not opening.
HE popped his head out of the wall, to see the admiral waking down the hall, with a few security personeel with him. "Admiral!" Daya called out, pulling himself from the wall. "Good to see your safe sir, I'll take it from here guys" Daya said to the escort. "I think everyone is gathering at Tante Marias, you guys might wanna head that way."
<tag Drew>
"Do you know anything that has happened?" Daya asked the admiral, who seemed just as confused as he did. "well, we should probably head to Tante Maria's as well" Daya turned back to the Jeffries Tube and allowed the admiral to go in first. When they both were back out, Daya saw two people, surrounded by the engineers, talking about walkie talkies. "Let me see that" Daya said, reaching for the walkie talkie.
"Commander Daya to Commander Hope, come in commander hope"
