He thought for sure that somebody would come and complain about him. He'd been pacing the back and forth in his room for what seemed like hours. Richard Rekab had reported to Starbase Conqueror earlier in the day, and for him, this was the worst part of the assignment process. The tests, he could handle, the questions asked of him were no problem at all, but the waiting...the waiting was driving him insane. He'd never been a very patient person. Prior to his entrance exam for acting ensign, Rekab wanted to skip the entire process and just fly a starship. That had been his one dream ever since he can remember. He finally stopped pacing and started thinking to himself. When he was a child, Rekab would fly his model starships with his father and always tell him, "One day I'll do it for real, dad. I'm gonna fly the fastest ship there is!" His father would always laugh and tell him that first he had to finish his chores, to which young Rick would always groan.
Thinking about his youth always brought a smile to the face of Rick. Even though his current fate was out of his hands, thinking of his youth was a means of escape for the young man. Having calmed himself from his anxiousness, he was now thirsty, and he walked over to the replicator. "Computer, water, 15 degrees Celsius." The water appeared, and Rekab drank a considerable amount before setting the water down on a nearby table. "There's got to be something I can do to pass the time," he thought out loud to himself. Sitting down in a chair, he crossed his legs and began stroking his chin. After thinking for a moment, he snapped his fingers in triumph. He went into his sleeping quarters to the side of his bed, and retrieved a silver trumpet. "And I thought the pacing would get me some complaints," he said as he brought his silver instrument to his living room. Rekab went to the replicator once more, and asked the computer for a book containing classical pieces of music for the trumpet in B flat. Rekab brought the music to his chair, and set it on the silver stand that he had from his youth. He brought the trumpet up to his lips and said to himself, "Hopefully this will pass the time better." The only thing that Rekab loved doing more than playing his trumpet, was piloting a ship. Hopefully that would be something he would soon partake in. For now however, he began playing, and letting the soothing sounds of Bach calm his nerves.

After playing his trumpet for about an hour, Rekab was feeling pretty relaxed. For the first time in about a week, he wasn't worried about whether or not he'll be in the academy soon or on a starship, he was just excited about being in Starfleet. After putting his trumpet away, Rekab decided that he was bored being in his room for the better part of a day. He decided that he'd partake in some of the entertainment that the starbase had to offer. "Computer, what are some of the bars or restaurants that are on the starbase?" After listening to the list that the computer spat out, Rekab decided to head to a place called The Starburst. He changed into a red cotton, long sleeved shirt with black slacks, and black leather shoes. He fixed his short, reddish-blonde hair, and stepped out into the corridor.
Rekab walked down to the nearest turboshaft and got in. "Deck 24," he told the computer, anxious to see what the starbase had for when you're off duty. When Rekab stepped off the turboshaft, he realized that he didn't know which way Section 8 was. He looked in both directions until a tall brunette woman walked past him and he asked her which way The Starburst was. She pointed him in the opposite direction from where she was going, and with a small smile, bid the young man goodbye. Rekab had to admit, if this is the kind of woman that the starbase had, he could definately get used to it. Rekab entered The Starburst with a smile still on his face from his brief encounter with the attractive woman. Rekab scanned the area on his way to the bar, and noticed a wide variety of species, both male and female, enjoying meals, drinks, and gazes outside. Rekab had to admit, it was a beautiful site, not the first supernova remnant he's seen, but one of the more beautiful ones. After stopping to admire the supernova, Rekab sat down at the bar.
"What'll it be handsome?" asked another attractive woman who was serving drinks.
"Do you have Tarkelian Tea?" asked Rekab.
"Sure do," replied the bartender as she retrieved Rekab's drink. "If you need anything else, just let me know, I'll be right over here, my name is Della Narcisse" said the bartender, and Rekab nodded graciously and took his drink.
"Thank you, I'm Richard Rekab, nice to meet you."

Konal made it down to the Promenade rather quickly even though she had been taking her time. There were too many people at the surprise party. For the young, that was great. For the Cardassian woman it caused angst, even though it was a well-organized and well participated party. Secretly, she fancied herself too old to be partaking in parties, even though a part of her always had fun.
Arriving at a familiar bar, the Starburst, she walked in. The normal squad of security officers was occupying half of the main seating area, so Konal was forced to belly up to the bar. Konal was stretching her head to the left, pulling on her neck ridge with her left hand to force the stretch, when Della came over.
"What'll i'be?"
"Uh... ", Konal looked at the stock sitting on the bar. It seemed Brandy was the hot drink of the house. "I'll have some Brandy, I suppose."
Had Konal's stomach really been hurting, as she had feigned minutes earlier, she would have chose tea... but she was in the mood for the something hard.
"The house specialty is Saurian Brandy... will tha'do?"
"Sounds fine to me." Konal turned halfway on her barstool to get a glimpse of the supernova. "Beautiful" she said aloud, intending to only think it.
It was then she noticed a younger male sitting next to her. She introduced herself to him, but he was more interested in Della, and responded slowly at first until Della went out of sight. Konal had no interest in him in that way. Konal was probably the age of his mother, assuming he was human, which the smooth forehead and pointed cheekbones suggested.
"Are you new to the station?"
<tag Rekab>
"Well, in that case, let me welcome you. I am somewhat new myself. I am not a Navigations officer," Konal giggled shortly at the thought, "but I am an instructor aboard the USS Hanson. Will you be on our next training mission?"
Rekab explained that he may become an acting Ensign. Some officers would find it pretentious for a newcomer to assume he would be assigned directly as an officer. Konal found it ambitious, and enjoyed his spirit.
<Rekab>
"I wish you luck, whatever happens. Going through the Academy is not all that bad. I learned a lot there, even though I have served on ships prior. And of course, you will serve with yours truly," Konal batted her eyelids rapidly so that Rekab could not possibly take her narcissism seriously.
"So where are you from? Why did you decided to join Starfleet?"
<Rekab>
Konal took a sip of her brandy as she listened.
OOC: Also - I would like to say, it's nice to have a fellow St. Louisan to sim with!

"Are you new to the station?"
"Yes ma'am. I just arrived the other day. I've been holding myself up in my quarters for the better part of today, hoping that my assignment would come through," said the young man, putting down his glass. "I heard this was one of the better places on the starbase to meet people...so here I am."
"I'm Lieutenant Konal Manto," said the woman, extending her hand out.
"Richard Rekab," said the young man, taking her hand in greeting.
"I think I did rather well on the entrance exam, but that's always been a flaw of mine. I always think I did much better than I actually did," explained Rekab, "I've gotten a lot of ridicule from my frends back home for just that." Rekab smiled at this comment, drank his tea, and began to stroke his chin.
"Well, maybe I'd rather go through the academy then," answered Rekab with a smirk, sipping his tea. "I've heard a lot of good things about the academy from friends of mine and of my parents," answered Rekab, "I've never been one to take things slowly though. I've always wanted to get out there and explore everything as quick as possible. That's why I left my hometown of Toronto, Canada so quickly. It's a beautiful city, but there's just so much space to explore."
Rekab paused for a moment, taking in Konal's beauty. It wasn't a beauty like Della's however, it reminded Rekab of a younger version of his mother. Strange, his family had been on his mind a lot lately. Maybe it was the fact that he could be assigned to a deep space mission at any moment and not see them for a long time that was preoccupying him. Rekab took another drink of his tea, and continued.
"Ever since I can remember, I've wanted to fly a starship. My father and I used to build model ships when I was little, but unlike him, I wasn't interested in the building of the ship, I just wanted to fly it," a smile creeped onto his face again as he looked out the window, "I always dreamed of "going where no man had gone before", as corny as that sounds. Whether it comes sooner than later, I'm going to fly one of those ships," said Rekab in a sense of wonder.
Konal took a sip of her brandy as she listened.
"What about you Konal?" asked Rekab, "Where do you call home and what made you want to join Starfleet?"

He walked into the Starburst tired and wanting a good drink. In fact he knew that he would get one here. The Starburst had the best Saurian Brandy in the sector. Normally security officers would occupy the establishment, but Matt had been a regular during his Academy days.
"Dar Nexeel, it is great to see you again my old friend," Matt said as he approached the Bolian owner. He clearly remembered the first time Dar had given him the brandy. Matt had almost spit it back at him. It took him a while to get used to it and now it was his second drink.
"Matt Reynolds, is that you?" Dar asked as he approached him.
"Yes, it is me Dar," Matt responded," it's been a long time since we last saw each other."
"Yes it has," Dar said as he called out for Della," Della get me some of the good stuff. An old friend is visiting."
Matt approached the bar, which was currently occupied by an acting ensign and a Lt. He sat down and waited for Della to realize who he was.
"Oh my God, Matt is that you," Della shrieked. She quickly rushed him and hugged him.
"I'm glad to see you too Della," Matt responded.
"Here let me get you the usual," Della said as he took out a bottle of brandy,"43 a really good year."
All the comotion that was caused by his arrival got the attention of a lot of people, but no more than the two next to him.
"Sorry about that Lt. Ensign, it has been a long time since I've been here," Matt said as he motioned Della to pour them a drink as well. "By the way did I hear you talk about flying a starship?"
<Tag Richard>
"Well I know a ship that is looking for a pilot," Matt said smiling at his good fortune. Since Alex left the Jefferson had been looking for a pilot.

"Yes sir!" said Rekab with gusto, "I've wanted to pilot a starship since I can remember."
"Well I know a ship that is looking for a pilot," Matt said smiling at his good fortune. Since Alex left the Jefferson had been looking for a pilot.
"Do you know of a ship that needs a good pilot?" asked Rekab, half joking. The two officers shared a laugh with him at that question. Somtimes he just wished he could grap any ship and fly it, but he knew that he had to follow prcedures, and that if he was patient enough, and did everything asked of him, he'd one day be out there with the rest of them, exploring the galaxy.
Rekab noticed Della hug the Commander. It was just his luck, he always fell for the unattainable. It was a habit that he wished he could shake, maybe one day, he'd find someone of his own.
"Won't you join us Commander?" asked Rekab, motioning towards an empty seat next to himself and Konal.

"Where do I call home?" Konal sighed. The question was not usually phrased in such a manner. It reminded her that she had no home. Sure, Cardassia Prime still existed, but that was no longer her home. She would not... could not... return there after switching her alliance from Cardassia to Starfleet.
Konal sidestepped the question by skipping to Rekab's second question.
"I joined Starfleet because I had nothing left except for my passion for science. Biology, specifically. I mostly worked with plants on my assignments in Starfleet, and I have sort of become and expert in that field." Even for such a calm and passionate being, Konal was still Cardassian, and thereby showed no modesty.
"After my last assignment..." There was a pause. Konal took a sip of her brandy to give her time to carefully plan her next few words. She purposely kept quiet about the Outpost she previously worked on. With Shraka on the station somewhere, she did not want to rehash the scene that occurred during the blooming of the purple orchid, nor did she find it wise to make it known that she had worked there, lest someone may think she was a cohort of the Andorian.
"...I came here, and was assigned Chief Science Officer and Instructor aboard the USS Hanson. She's a good ship... or so I hear. I only saw the shuttle bay." Rekab looked confused at the last statement. As Konal was about to explain, Commander Reynolds walked in, causing a rush of enthusiasm from Della.
Konal swiveled her chair around and introduced herself, after Rekab invited him over to their end of the bar. The Commander introduced himself to Konal and Richard, then mentioned piloting, starting a whole new line of conversation. "Guys," Konal thought.
She sat listening, enjoying the company. In a break in the conversation, Konal asked Commander Reynolds, "What brings you aboard the Starbase?"
<Reynolds>
Konal , caught between the two men, swiveled back around to address Richard. "Out of curiosity, have you met Commander Brelev? Maybe after this I can introduce you to her. Don't get me wrong, I'm having fun here... but she is a fantastic doctor, and very friendly." Reynolds nodded thoughtfully from behind Konal in agreement.
<Rekab>
The Starburst was a pretty hopping place not after too long, with many people coming and going. "I noticed there are a lot of Cadets around here", Konal said to the Commander.

"Won't you join us Commander?" asked Rekab, motioning towards an empty seat next to himself and Konal.
"Of course, I love knowing what the fresh blood of fleet are thinking," Matt said as he picked up his bottle of brandy and joined the two. He was never afraid to make new friends especially ones that had the guts to speak their mind. The conversation stayed on the topic of piloting until Lt. Manto asked Matt a question.
"What brings you aboard the Starbase?"
"I escorted Admiral Drew here back from the Jefferson," Matt answered not wanting to tell them the reason he had to escort the Commanding officer of the base. "I'm also here to visit my brother, Commander Jason Reynolds, who is the Operations Instructor onboard the Hanson."
"From what Joan has told me you are the Hepta's Science Instructor," Matt said," don't worry Joan was my instructor and she likes to brag about the good instructors in the Academy."

"I noticed there are a lot of Cadets around here", Konal said to the Commander.
"This is nothing," Matt responded," the cadets know that they shouldn't be hear if One they are about to take the Quantum Physics class or Two about to report to their Academy ship. By the weekend this place will be so packed that you won't be able to move."
"Mr. Rekab, if you want to speak to Della I recommend that you do so," Matt said noticing the stares that the upstart pilot was giving his old friend." She won't bite, well unless you want her to."

"Wake up, Renn! Do you know how late it is? I was up hours ago," Iqani Morgain said, shaking her Bajoran sister.
"Lemme sleep, you Cardassian tyrant," Karenn moaned, pulling her sheets over her head.
"But we just arrived!" Iqani said. "Starbase Conqueror! Renn, the sooner you get up, the sooner you'll be a part of Starfleet. Besides, it's not healthy to sleep past noon." When there was no reply, Iqani left the room. Karenn sighed happily, turned off the lights, and dozed off again.
She didn't even notice that her adopted sister had returned until water poured over her. No one ignored Iqani.
Morgain Karenn got up at last, her language making it very clear how she felt about getting up early. She headed into the bathroom to dry her hair, and Iqani pulled her clothes out of a drawer.
"You'll have to watch the language on the Starbase, cadet," the Cardassian warned. "And if you think they'll let you sleep in every morning, you'll be out before you even get started. You'll also need to learn how to obey your elders. Let's start now: make my breakfast."
"First of all," Karenn grumbled, "You made me stay out late last night. To celebrate. Second, you're only two years older than me, and I only need to obey my elders if they rank higher than me. Join Starfleet and get promoted, then try again."
"Typical Bajoran temper," Iqani laughed. Karenn threw a PADD at her, and she ducked. "Mom and Dad are going to miss that... So am I."
There was a loud bump as the transport ship docked at Starbase Conqueror. βIβm not getting off with you,β Iqani said. βGood luck, little sister.β The argument over, they embraced. Karenn gathered her belongings and left the quarters, never looking back.
Cadet Morgain Karenn dropped her luggage in her temporary quarters. There was no need to unpack. Eventually she'd be assigned to a training ship, and she didn't want to go through the packing/unpacking process twice. She did lock everything into the safe provided. Some called her suspicious and paranoid. She called it being careful.
She viewed a map of the station and noticed several bars. She decided to visit The Starburst, if only because she liked the name. There was a lot of time to kill, and she wasn't in the mood for a holosuite program. Maybe she'd do that later, but for the moment, she was thirsty.
The bar was only a few decks below her quarters, so it didn't take her long to get there. It was fairly crowded, but there were plenty of extra seats. She ordered a glass of Springwine and sat at the bar quietly, staring at her drink. Despite the crowd in the bar, Karenn kept to herself. She had never been good at meeting people.

Don't get me wrong, I'm having fun here... but she is a fantastic doctor, and very friendly." Reynolds nodded thoughtfully from behind Konal in agreement.
"Brelev?" said Rekab, thinking to himself, "No, I can't say that I have, but I'm always up for meeting new people, especially females." Rekab began to get this sheepish grin on his face, that often appeared when he was trying to be sly. He figured that the more people he met, the better, as right now, he only knew Konal and Reynolds, and of course Della.
"Mr. Rekab, if you want to speak to Della I recommend that you do so," Matt said noticing the stares that the upstart pilot was giving his old friend." She won't bite, well unless you want her to."
This blunt comment caught Rekab by surprise, it was as if Reynolds was reading his mind. "Well then if you two don't mind, I think I will take my leave of you two, and get to know Ms. Narcisse better," said Rekab as he got up to sit on the other end of the bar that Della was currently at. Rekab knew better then to expect anything, but taking chances was something that he'd always been adept at.
As he got up to go speak to Della, Rekab noticed a young Bajoran woman, probably the same age as himself or just a tad bit younger, drinking alone. He gave her a second look and couldn't seem to take his eyes away from her. He completely forgot about Della for the moment, and walked over to the woman. Rekab decided that Della will be around, as would his chance for romance. This woman looked like she needed a friend.
"Hi there, I hope I'm not being too presumpuous, but you look like you could use some company? My name is Richard Rekab, mind if I sit down?"

Konal had just finished her statement about Cadets when one happened to walk into the bar, sitting in the only open seat available next to the back corner bulkhead. Richard noticed, and sprung out of his chair to greet her, passing Della along the way.
"That didn't last long" Konal thought.
"Ah, to be young again," Konal said aloud, and grinned. "Hopefully Starfleet still teaches its officers about ethical romances." she said, to which Matt and her both shared a small laugh.
<Reynolds>
"By the way - I think the Brandy is starting to get to me, or I would have mentioned this earlier. I just realized you suggested I was on the USS Hepta... I'm actually with the Hanson. But you were correct in the fact that I am a science officer." Konal moved her cup in a circular motion, swirling her brandy. It was not good form for a Cardassian to admit intoxication. Konal was not a good Cardassian.
<Reynolds>
"I find this quite amusing," she said, nodding toward Richard and the Cadet. "I'm going to see how long it takes before she seems uninterested and I have to exert my womanly duty to rescue her." It seemed like decades... in fact, it had been decades... since she was in the shoes of the young Cadet. Those days were gone. She was her work now. She had lost too much to start again.
A group of security officers, fraternizing next to the bar, said their goodbyes to each other, and left, leaving a table open.
"I'm going to sit down here. I'm starting to get a little stiff sitting on this stool."
Konal hopped down, and sat facing away from the bar, toward Richard and his Bajoran friend. Commander Reynolds joined her. She managed to make eye contact with Richard, and wondered if he would get the cue to rejoin them.
"You say you escorted Admiral Drew here? Is he nice? I only had the chance to meet him once, and he was jumping back and forth between groups of people. It was at his surprise party." Konal cued her combadge for the time. "It probably is still going on. I came here to get away from the crowd." She realized after she made the statement that the crowd in the bar was much thicker than the crowd at the party. The bar was less intimidating, and her clothing was not the Starfleet issued dress uniform, but that of normal wear.
<Reynolds>
Della came by asking if anyone needed anything. Konal ordered another Saurian Brandy, gulping the last swallow in her current glass.

"Admiral Drew is a very nice commanding officer," S'reena spoke up, emerging from the shadows after observing the three Hanson officers and the cadet for a few minutes, "you just don't want to be on his wrong side. He may be forgiving but he doesn't forget, trust me." She sat on one of the vacant seats without asking if she could join them. "I have been on his wrong side, numerous times. Ask him if he trusts me or my judgement, he'll give you mixed answers. I suspect he keeps me around because I know the ship better than he does."
She grinned at the officers present. "Nah he's a very decent man, you'll like him Miss Konal, trust me you'll like him. Who doesn't like Vice Admiral Drew? Oh hey guess what I heard through the grapevine? It's only rumours of course, nothing verified.....I heard he's getting married! Again..."
The Romulan turned when the male cadet returned with a female one. "Why hello...I'm Commander S'reena Hope, Hanson's first officer. I take it you've met my dear crewmembers? They haven't been giving you a hard time have you?"

"Ah, to be young again," Konal said aloud, and grinned. "Hopefully Starfleet still teaches its officers about ethical romances." she said, to which Matt and her both shared a small laugh.
"Well at least they try," Matt answered laughing. He knew very well that the rule of fraternization was pratically ignored everywhere. There of course were times when it was unappropiate, but for the most part you were allowed to pursue a relationship with anyone on the ship. As he looked at the young hopeful he realized that he wasn't much older than him. In fact he was probably the youngest commander that he knew.
"That's what I get for trusting Joan," Matt said laughing feeling a bit tipsy himself," well this means that you and brother will serve together. He is the Operations instructor onboard the Hanson, his name is Jason."
"I'm going to sit down here. I'm starting to get a little stiff sitting on this stool."
"I will join you," Matt said making sure to bring the brandy with him. He knew that he would pay for it later, but he hadn't indulged himself in a very long time. "Della, please bring us something not so intoxicating."
Matt was about to respond to her question when he heard the unmistakeable voice of S'reena Hope, the Hanson's first officer. He remembered her clearly.
"If anyone knows the Hanson its her," Matt said as he stood up. He realized that she had mistaken him for his brother, though he didn't think they looked alike.
"Nah he's a very decent man, you'll like him Miss Konal, trust me you'll like him. Who doesn't like Vice Admiral Drew? Oh hey guess what I heard through the grapevine? It's only rumours of course, nothing verified.....I heard he's getting married! Again..."
"He's getting married to Admiral Keztrek," Matt said smirking," if what I heard is true, this will be the wedding that everyone will remember."
"Why hello...I'm Commander S'reena Hope, Hanson's first officer. I take it you've met my dear crewmembers? They haven't been giving you a hard time have you?"
Matt looked at Konal next to him and smiled. S'reena did in fact believe that he was Jason. He would be more than happy to show her mistake. He let S'reena finish his conversation with Richard before he interrupted.
"Hello S'reena, its very nice to see you again," Matt said as he removed the jacket that he had been wearing. "I cannot believe that its been almost two years since I saw you last and what is this about your instructors giving cadets a hard time."

Rekab was motioned down by the young Bajoran, and took a seat next to the young lady. Rekab was just about to start up a conversation, maybe find out about the lovely young Bajoran, when a male voice shook him from his thought.
"I'm looking for a Richard Rekab," announced a male voice from the doorway of the Starburst.
"That's me," said Rekab, waving down the officer to his location.
The rather plain looking officer walked over to Rekab and Karenn's location. "Sir, I have a message from Vice Admiral Paul Drew." He began to read from the padd that he carried with him. "By order from Vice Admiral Paul Drew, you have been granted a commission of Acting Ensign, with all the rights and priveledges thereof. Admiral Drew read reviewed your exam, and has deemed you worthy of the title of Acting Ensign. Congratulations sir."
He showed the padd to Rekab, who authorized it with his thumb print, and gave it back to the officer, who smiled, and walked away.
As the officer left, Rekab noticed the continuing look that Konal Manto was giving him. "She's probably wanting me to return to them and leave this young woman alone," he amusingly thought to himself...but he just couldn't believe what had just happened.
"This is incredible," remarked Rekab to Karenn, "I've been so anxious, and it's finally paid off, this is just...oh my gosh...I'm so sorry miss. You must be so bored just sitting here listening to all this about me. I feel like I'm being so selfish. Here I am wanting to find out about you, and I'm doing the exact opposite. I don't even know your name..." Rekab finished, trailing off, eagerly awaiting the lovely young woman's response.

Commander S'reena Hope appeared from behind Commander Reynolds, causing Konal to tense a bit. Konal wiggled her fingers and toes really quick to see if she was still in control of her faculties. She had only met with the First Officer of the Hanson briefly, and she didn't want to embarrass herself.
Commander Hope talked with admiration of the Admiral. This was the third or fourth person, aside from the room full of people at the party, to give him good reviews. Konal felt proud to be serving under such a well liked man.
A plain looking officer - plain for a Bolian, that is - walked in, asking for Richard. Commander Reynolds pointed toward the small table in the back. The Bolian Lieutenant left the Starburst shortly after, leaving Ensign Richard beaming.
S'reena, noticing the Cadet, and new Ensign, sitting across the room, and invited them over.
Konal asked "what was that all about?"
<Rekab>
She smiled at the Bajoran Cadet. "I'm so sorry... I should introduce myself. I am Lieutenant Manto. This is Commander Hope." she motioned, open palmed, toward S'reena, "and this is Commander..." Konal was showing signs of her age, forgetting the name of the man that had been keeping her company the last few hours.
"Reynolds." Matt replied, extending his hand. As all combination of pleasantries were completed, Konal asked, "Cadet Karenn... What brings you to be in Section 47?"
<Karenn>
As she asked, Matt and S'reena were conversing. S'reena was then pulled away by an unusual character. They shared a few words together, of which the tablemates couldn't hear. Konal continued talking to Karenn and Rekab.
"Did you get your assignment yet, Ensign?"

S'reena's eyes widened when she finally recognized Matthew, and wondered how exactly he'd been able to fool her like that. "Shame on you Matt," she chided him, playfully turning her back on him in mock-anger.
Then she was suddenly pulled aside by an eager-looking young man who started talking to her but sounding as if he were thoroughly drunk. "Did Simmy tell yu abuot de tim he stepped on a banana peel and zlipped and got impaled on her own dagger wen she was about to gret the garison comandr?"[/i]
The Romulan commander frowned down on the young man, who was indeed wearing cadet's colours. "Get a hold of yourself cadet," she snapped at him, yanking her arm free from his grip. "I don't know what you're talking about, but I do know you're in no state to have a normal conversation." She beckoned Brelev. "Doctor do you have anything with you to bring this young man back to his senses? He appears to be drunk."
(Jason, don't be offended, this is how S'reena is. Looking forward to see your response..and please read the PM I sent you ;D)

S'reena, noticing the Cadet, and new Ensign, sitting across the room, and invited them over.
Konal asked "what was that all about?"
"You're not going to believe it!," exclaimed the newly appointed officer, "That Bolian just brought orders from Admiral Drew granting me a commission of Acting Ensign! I've been waiting for this for a long time and it finally came through!"
Rekab was glad to explain his situation to Manto, Hope, and Reynolds, but still felt bad that he hadn't gotten to talk to Karenn more. He supposed that it was better this way though, that way the young Bajoran would get to know more people.

"Did you get your assignment yet, Ensign?"
"No ma'am," replied Rekab, to a somewhat confounded look by Konal, Rekab figured she didn't like to be referred to as ma'am by the younger Ensign, he took a note of this. Rekab noticed another young man talking to Hope in a rather slurred voice and began whispering to Konal, "Is he ok?"
"I'm sure S'reena can take care of it," she replied with a grin.
"Right. Well, all I was told by the Bolian was that I'm able to bypass the academy. I'm still waiting for my assignment, maybe one will come soon. I'm just excited to be able to go on a ship this early though, it's just alot to take in right now."

Matt was glad that S'reena responded like she did. It seemed that some things never changed. Matt was going to try to catch up with her, but her attention was taken away by another cadet. One who didn't make any sense at all. S'reena's response brought a smile to his face, she in fact hadn't changed at all. She was still the fiery in your face Commander that everyone loved.
Matt knew that S'reena could and most likely would be a while so he joined the Lt. Manto and the other cadets. He was rather pleased with his visit to Conqueror. He never thought that he would enjoy himself so much talking to instructors and cadets.
"Right. Well, all I was told by the Bolian was that I'm able to bypass the academy. I'm still waiting for my assignment, maybe one will come soon. I'm just excited to be able to go on a ship this early though, it's just alot to take in right now."
"Congraulations, Ensign," Matt said offering his hand to the newly appointed officer," your journey here in Section 47 is about to begin."

"You know, this is a joyous occasion," Matt said as he opened his last bottle of brandy. He poured everyone a good size drink. "Here's to the cadets, the instructors, and Mr. Rekab here." They all drank to the toast and some of them went for round two.
"Hello, I'm looking for Commander Reynolds from the Jefferson," a timid third year cadet said.
"That's me, cadet," Matt said standing up. He was about to make a remark about he didn't bite, but thought against it.
"These are transferr orders from Headquarters, Admiral Elron said you would be pleased," the cadet said as she relaxed a bit.
"Thank you cadet, you are dismissed," Matt said as he read the orders. He quickly finished them and a huge smile appeared on his face. He had been looking for one for a very long time.
"Well sir, if you don't mind sharing," Lt. Manto said waiting to hear what Matt had just learned.
"Oh sorry, Ensign Richard Rekab, let me be the first one to welcome you to the USS Jefferson as our brand new Chief Navigations Officer," Matt said standing up and saluting the man whose dream was to fly a starship. "You will acompany me and my team back to Assailant where you will meet our commanding officer Colonel Zhukarak Hrisvalar."

I don't even know your name..."
Karenn smiled, not minding at all. Though she was too shy to approach strangers on her own, she made friends easily when they approached her. She genuinely appreciated the fact that he had come to sit with her. Richard seemed like a nice young man, if a bit flirtatious. Fortunately for him, she had no problem with flirtatious people. "Oh, no, I'm not bored at all. Trust me, I've met lots of boring people, and you are not one of them, from what I can tell. I'm Morgain Karenn. Please, call me Karenn, or even just Renn."
As she was ordering a second Springwine, several others came over. They eagerly asked Richard about the message he had recieved, then introduced themselves.
"I'm so sorry... I should introduce myself. I am Lieutenant Manto. This is Commander Hope." she motioned, open palmed, toward S'reena, "and this is Commander..."
"Reynolds." Matt replied, extending his hand. As all combination of pleasantries were completed, Konal asked, "Cadet Karenn... What brings you to be in Section 47?"
"Several reasons, really," Karenn said. "My father used to be a scientist for Starfleet, and he really wanted one of his girls to follow in his footsteps. My sister didn't want to, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Also, an old friend of mine graduated recently... But mostly, I just want to get out there and explore. I'm training in security," she informed them proudly.
Just then, a cadet approached Commander Reynolds. They talked quietly for a minute before the Commander returned.
"Congratulations," Karenn said to Richard. She was slightly disappointed that she wouldn't have much of a chance to get to know the interesting ensign, but she was happy for him. "I've heard that the Jefferson is a great ship."

Rekab just sat there for a second with his jaw open. He couldn't believe the recent turn of events. Just mere hours earlier he was going crazy waiting for something to happen to his career, and now he'd gotten everything that he wanted a more. "Thank you sir!" was all he could get out, in his state of shock.
"The Jefferson...wow," stammered the young Ensign, "She's the flagship of Beta Squadron right? This is...this is just incredible."
Everyone at the table smiled, and thanked him. He shook the hands of everybody, including the shy young Bajoran that he still couldn't take his eyes off of.
"Congratulations," Karenn said to Richard. She was slightly disappointed that she wouldn't have much of a chance to get to know the interesting ensign, but she was happy for him. "I've heard that the Jefferson is a great ship."
"Thanks Renn, I appreciate it. I can't wait to go, I just wish I would've had more time to get to know you. After I get to the Jefferson, we'll have to stay in touch," offered Rekab, to which Konal and Reynolds exchanged an amusing glance to each other.
"Well Commander," said Rekab, turning away from Karenn for the moment and looking at Reynolds, "I'm anxious to get underway, when should I head to Assailant to meet Colonel Hrisvalar?"
