Hannah walked though the airlock from the starbase to the U.S.S. Hope. She was excited but nervous about her new command. She had a bag containing all her personal belongs slung over on shoulder and a pad in other hand containing her orders and information on the ship and crew. She had only had a chance to briefly look though it while on the transfer shuttle from the Nevada to the Conquer, but the mission seemed simple, just a boring charting mission.
“Captain Stevenson,” a voice called from behind. Hannah turned to see a young male Bajoran ensign stood at the airlock that she had just passed though. He moved over to her.
“I’m ensign Toran, I have been ordered to show you to your quarters,” he informed her. Hannah smiled and indicated for him to lead the way.
They arrived at the room only a few minutes later and Hannah quickly thanked the ensign and dismissed him. Then she entered into the room, they looked so big and bare. She dumped in bag on the floor near the door and headed over the mirror. She straightened her uniform and tidied her hair, then headed straight back out of her quarters towards the bridge. She was anxious to get down to work and didn’t want to spend any time unpacking.
The turbolift doors opened to reveal the bridge, she stepped out and then stopped letting the turbolift doors close behind her. She glanced around the bridge, glazing at the crewmembers working busily.
She moved to the centre of the bridge and sat down. Then she turned to the operations officer.
“Are all crew and supplies onboard?” she asked.
“Yes, Ma’am,” came the response.
“Contact the starbase and inform then that we are ready to disembark,” Hannah ordered.
“Yes, Ma’am,” she said working her console contracting the station.
“We have been cleared for departure,” she said a few moments later.
Hannah stood up and moved over to the navigation station selecting the right information on her pad as she moved.
“Once we get far enough away from the station, set a course for these co-ordinates warp 6,” she said showing the officer the co-ordinates on the pad.

There was a familiar buzz going through the Starbase Conqueror when Zoarial docked his shuttle. Some faint memories about his mission on the USS Hepta and his graduation slipped through his mind and he couldn't help but wonder how his instructors and fellow cadets were doing. At the time he had promised to stay in touch, but he knew that those kind of promises were hard to maintain sometimes as a busy mission often tended to be more important than social life.
Being a navigator, it didn't take Zoarial long to find his way through the nebula class USS Hope. The plans that he was viewing on his PADD we're remotely similar to those of the USS Raven which he served on. Although the ships were all made with the same basics, the details were different on each one. With the scale of the ships you couldn't talk about 'details' though.
Because Zoarial's head was slighly bent over his PADD, he couldn't avoid some minor collisions with the Hope's crew, but being a broadly built Klingon, it was often the latter that was the victim from bumping into him.
After a short stop at his quarters, Zoarial entered the bridge, noticing the chair in the middle of the room was already occupied.
"Pleased to meet you," he formally said and introduced himself. "I am commander Zoarial. I will be your first officer for this mission."

Hannah moved back towards the centre seat and watched as the Hope moved away from the station. The new first officer appeared in front of her breaking her concentration; she hadn’t even noticed him enter onto the bridge.
He was a large built Klingon who towered over Hannah, but had a friendly smile. He introduced himself as Zoarial and handed her his transfer orders.
“Welcome aboard,” she said with a smile, “I’m Captain Hannah Stevenson.”
She looked though the transfer orders; everything seemed to be in order. She handed the pad back to Zoarial and then stood up.
“You have the bridge, I’ll be in my ready room,” she said as she gestured to the command chair. She walked of the bridge and headed into the ready room, she wanted to take the opportunity to familiarise herself with ship and crew. She moved over to the computer and brought up the relevant files and began to read though them.

Jon sat in his sickbay office sifting through the assortment of padds and reports arrayed upon his desk. He was only partially aware of the time and it wasnt until Nurse Corok appeared at the doorway and informed him that the new senior staff had arrived that he decided to call it a day.
Pushing the padds to one side he put on his tunic and made his way up to the bridge. The normal staff were on duty, Jo at Ops, Kuragh at the helm and Shris at Tac
Sat in the centre seat was a huge klingon, the pips informed jon that this was the new FO, "Good Evening Sir. I m Dr Williams" he greeted extending a hand.

Hannah had been in her ready room for about a hour now when the call came in for her to go to bridge. She stepped on to see the same crewmembers operating there stations are earlier and the first officer sat in the centre of the bridge with the chief medical officer sat beside.
“Report,” she ordered.
“We have picked up federation distress call,” the first officer informed her.
“Have we pinpointed the location?” she asked.
“Yes, a federation outpost,” the operations officer informed.
“Set a course maximum warp,” she said to the helm.
“Do we know the natural of the problem?” Hannah asked.
“The message said there has been an explosion on the station,” operation officer informed her.
Hannah attention turned to the chief medical officer.
“Get your teams ready for casualties and transfer one of the cargo bays into an overflow ward,” Hannah ordered.

It wasn't Zoarial's nature to dislike someone who he did not know, but he felt that some minor voice in the back of his head told him not to like this ensign Williams. He shook away the thought and smiled back to Jonathon and accepted his hand.
"Good evening to you ensign!" Zoarial boomed, partially on purpose. "What business brings you to the bridge? I can't remember any explosions and there shouldn't be any casualties either at the moment." The klingon was somewhat surprised by his straight-to-the-point approach, but noticed to his relief that Jonathon didn't take it too seriously.
<<Jonathon>>
"Pleased to meet you too mr Williams." Zoarial replied. "I don't believe that you'll see me in sickbay for anything but the routine checkup though, but you might understand that."
<<Jonathon>>
Zoarial nodded and turned to the helm and saw that there was a klingon sitting there, which reminded him of his own time as a CNO. The nature of klingons usually caused them not to be at the helm, and this was the first klingon CNO Zoarial had met, apart from himself. "Helm, what is our estimated time of arrival?"
<<Kuragh>>
"Do you predict any anomalies between our current location and our destination?" Zoarial asked, trying to start a little conversation.
<<Kuragh>>
"Thank you very much Lieutenant. You can carry on with your duties." Zoarial turned his chair to the viewscreen, enjoying the sight of the stars that seemed to fly by instead of the other way around.
Suddenly a familiar sound came from the operations console.
"Report" Zoarial ordered and sat up right in his chair, snapping to attention.
<<Joanne>>
"Thank you commander. Please request the captain's presence on the bridge." Zoarial said, and stood up out of the captain's chair, retreating to his own.
"Report," the captain snapped, while entering the bridge..
"We have picked up federation distress call," Zoarial replied.
"Have we pinpointed the location?" Hannah asked the operations officer.
"Yes, a federation outpost." the response came, after which Hannah ordered the ship to go to maximum warp.
"The message said there has been an explosion on the station," Joanne continued.
The captain then turned to the chief medical officer, who was still present on the bridge. "Get your teams ready for casualties and transfer one of the cargo bays into an overflow ward," she ordered.
"There might be a hostile cause of the explosion." Zoarial suggested, "I believe that it is best to proceed with caution. What do you think captain?"
<<Hannah>>
"You heard her commander." Zoarial directed to the tactical console. "Take the necesary precautions."

OOC: Oh right I didnt realise we had started. Nice of people to tell me.
Shris was stood at tactical as the distress call came through. The Kobyahsi Maru training recieved at Academy made most CTSO's particualy cautious of distress calls. He quickly ran an extended sensor scan and checked shields would be available.
"Might I suggest an Amber alert" he requested,

"There might be a hostile cause of the explosion." Zoarial suggested, "I believe that it is best to proceed with caution. What do you think captain?"
“Yes, we need to proceed with caution, go in shields up and weapons ready,” Hannah answered the first officer.
"You heard her commander." Zoarial directed to the tactical console. "Take the necesary precautions."
"Might I suggest an Amber alert" he requested.
“Yes, go to Amber alert,” Hannah ordered.
Time seemed to pass slowly as she waited for the ship to reach the starbase. They had tried to contract the starbase several times, but had got no response from the starbase. That could just be because the explosion damaged their communications array or an attacking ship could be blocking communications or the worse possibility they could have been destroyed.
The ship finally dropped out of warp in to the star system where the starbase was located.
“Scan the system, for any ships,” Hannah ordered. The ship moved at impulse past the outer planet of the system. The planet was pretty much a large rock covered in ice with very little atmosphere. They moved past two gas giants and into the asteroid belt.
“I’m not picking up any ships, but they could be hidden behind the asteroids,” Joanne informed her.
The station came slowly into view; it was still pretty much intact, which was one thing to be grateful for. As the station between larger debris from part of the station could be seen floating though space.
“Try hailing them again,” Hannah ordered.
“Still no response,” Joanne informed her.
“Scan the station and see if there are any lifeform readings,” Hannah asked.
“Picking up multiple lifeform readings, some are very weak,” Joanne informed her. She turned to her first officer.
“Take an away team to the station and find out what happened,” Hannah ordered.

“Take an away team to the station and find out what happened,” The captian ordered, and Zoarial rose from his seat.
"Commander Merit. Would you care to join the away teams? I could need some professional backup on the surface." he asked the operations officer.
<<Joanne>>
Zoarial nodded. "Good. Meet me in transporter room one in 20 minutes." he said and turned to the tactical console.
"Commander Shris" he said, "do you have a capable assistant to defend the USS Hope against any attacks from outer space?"
<Shris>
"I would like you with us as well. Do you think that is possible?" Zoarial asked. He had some experience with away teams and security, but to have the CTSO with him would be the best option in a hositle environment.
<Shris>
"Agreed." Zoarial said, "and I have another request. Could you send a fully equipped team of ten to transporter room one? I would like to beam to the planet at 1600"
He then turned to the captain.
"I will keep you up to date with our findings captain." Zoarial noted.
<Hannah>
"Is there anything else?" Zoarial inquired.
<Hannah>
Zoarial inclined his head slightly and left the bridge. On his way to the transporter room he stopped by the arms facility to get himself a phaser rifle. He knew that he wouldn't use it, much, but it was just for the rest of the team to be more confident. An unarmed first officer wouldn't be making a statement of safety.

"Of ocurse I do" Shris grunted "I train all my staff to be equal to me, most fail but some come close, but all are more than competent to stand on the bridge and press buttons."
"You are the First Officer if you order me to go I will. besides I think it best I go."
"I will hand pick the team myself. If you excuse me Captain I will ready my men and brief them"
Shris didnt wait for an answer and strode from the bridge.
he went straight to his office and began to select his personnel. he knew he would take Tomrat and Delanay and suspected T'Plop and Yurl would come in handy. He looked up and realsied he only had half an hour and so quickly selected his final members and dashed out to get changed into combat fatigues.

"I will keep you up to date with our findings captain." Zoarial noted.
“Thankyou,” she said nodding.
"Is there anything else?" Zoarial inquired.
“No, good luck,” she said. She wished she was going but knew the captain place was on the bridge of their ship. She watched as Zoarial and the other officers headed into the turbolift and then she turned her attention back to the view screen.
She studied the space station looking for any indication to what had happened but couldn’t see any clues.
She hit her commbadge.
=/\= Captain Stevenson to Ensign Williams =/\= She smiled she liked the ring to captain Stevenson.
=/\= Williams here =/\= came the response.
=/\= How are the preparations going for casualties from the station? =/\= she asked.

At 15.59 Zoarial gave the command to beam down. He was glad to see a highly professional team present in the transporter room. The group was too large to be beamed over in one go, and Zoarial was glad of that. Although he wasn't supersticious, '13 to beam up' still didn't have a nice ring to it.
"Commanders Shris and Merit. Could you take 5 men with you for the first transport and secure the area?" Zoarial asked. He knew that now that he held the rank of first officer, it wouldn't be wise for the moral of the men if something happened to him when he put his own life in possible danger. Especially when that could be avoided.
<<Shirs / Joanne>>
Zoarial saw the group of 7 disappear out of the room and stepped onto the platform himself. Just before beaming down he realised that some medical help might be needed in the station, and he hailed the CMO.
=^=This is first officer Zoarial for Ensign Williams. I would like two medics in transporter room one immediately.=^= Zoarial ordered. and gestured the ensign at the transporter not to beam them down yet.
<<Jonathon>>
=^=We will wait for them.=^= Zoarial asked, and the door opened revealing two men standing behind it. =^=That was fast mr Williams! Zoarial out.=^=
<<Jonathon (Feel free to post for -one of- the medics >>
The two medics stepped up on the platform and Zoarials commbadge chirped.
<<Shirs>>
=^=Acknowledged=^= Zoarial said, "We're ready to be beamed down ensign."
The familiar surge went through the Klingon's body and the surroundings of the USS Hope faded away, shortly after that it was replaced by a heavily damaged room.
<<Shirs / Joanne>>
"Commander Shris, take your team of 5 and one medic and look for clues and survivors in the wrecked area of the station, keep contact at regular intervals. Commander Merit, you will go with me, we will search the part of the station that is still, more or less, intact." Zoarial ordered.

Jonathon had just finished the latest of his reviews when the call from the bridge came.
"I m ready when you are boss." he replied, "But I hope my services will not be required."
"we are in agreement there" Hannah answered

"Sure I ll secure the area, but we wont need 7 to do it. But hey your the boss. Lets lock and load" Shris grunted grabbing a rifle and stepping on the pad.
"I have secured the area for you. It is nice and safe for you to appear. "
<<Shirs / Joanne>>
"Well? What now... no-ones here?"
"We will chec the escape pods. " he left with his team and began to serach the ship.
After 5 minutes they found a pair of bodies. The medics wanted to take a look, but they were already dead so what was the point.
He reported it to Zoarial and pressed on - perhaps the enemy were still aboard.

Zoarial noticed that Joanne wasn't really at ease and decided that the sooner they would leave the better. But before he could even think about beaming back he had to make a thorough scan of 'their' part of the base.
It seemed that this section of the starbase had remained more or less intact. The majority of the lights was still working, with some occasionally flickering, and the only things that indicated the attack were some piles of debries.
Once they got to the command station, Zoarial found it deserted. It seemed like all personnel had vanished from the location, apart from the bodies that Shris reported.
"Commander Merit, could you download the voice and image recordings from the computer?" Zoarial asked, "We might be able to get some knowledge about the attack."
<<Joanne>>
It took Joanne some time to download the files, and when she had finally did, Zoarial was kind of shocked. If all he read and saw was true, it could only mean one thing: they would have to get out of there as soon as possible.
Awestruck, Zoarial tapped his badge.
=^=This is Commander Zoarial for captain Stevenson, come in please =^=
<<Hannah>>
=^=I will transfer you some data recordings from the starbase's computer. I think that it's best that you make your own conclusions=^= He said
<<Hannah>>
=^=Understood, will you inform Commander Shris? We will be beaming back as soon as possible. Zoarial out.=^=
Zoarial then contacted the transporter room and the command centre was replaced by the Hope's interior.
"You are all dismissed," Zoarial informed the security team. "Ms Merit, you can freshen up in your quarters if you wish. Report back to the bridge in 30 minutes."
<<Joanne>>
Zoarial nodded and went immediately to the bridge. He was curious to find out what Hannah had made out of the star base's readings.
<<Hannah>>
