Thirteen settled himself in the command chair of the U.S.S. Hope. It was still early, and the bridge crew had just started trickling in. Parsons greeted Thirteen, and took a seat next to the ex-Borg. "Good morning number one," Thirteen said in return. Soon all the officers were at their stations. "Lieutenant Kuragh, lay in a course, I'm transmitting you the coordinates right now." =/\= Attention all senior officers, report to the briefing room in thirty minutes. =/\=
The briefing room was filled by the time it should have been. Thirteen stood up from his chair. "Greetings everyone. We are currently traveling to the border of Federation space, we should be arriving there in 37 hours and 46 minutes. There have been reports of strange energy readings in that region, with one specific point in space as the center of these readings. We are to examine what this phenomenon is. In the information Starfleet sent me it is mentioned that this could be a micro wormhole."
"Lieutenant Prendel, I would like you to do some research on micro wormholes and other things this phenomenon might be. Commander Zaksh'riszehn, take the necessary security precautions. We are dealing with the edge of Federation space, we must be prepared for possible encounters. Commander Merit, scan our destination its surroundings so that we know what to expect once we get there. "If there are no questions, you are dismissed."

Parsons walked onto the bridge, "Good morning, Captain," he said with a nod to Thirteen.
"Good morning number one," Thirteen said in return. Soon all the officers were at their stations, and Parsons was seated comfortably in the First Officer's chair next to the Captain.
The Captain gave the Hope's new coordinates to the the helm officer and announced that a briefing for senior staff would be held shortly.
***
Once all were present in the conference room, Captain Thirteen proceeded with the briefing and gave specific orders to the department heads. When he was finished he asked for questions.
Parsons, not being a scientist himself, inquired, "A micro-wormhole? Does Starfleet have any information on the approximate size of the phenomenon at present, Captain?"

Dr Williams set down his Padd and turned in his chair,
"Nurse Capel, I understand the new staff have come aboard. Please draw up a roster to have them come in and have physicals, I dont want any surprise whilst we are on a mission."
"Yes doctor"
"I ll head up and see the new Command staff."
Williams walked swiftly and confidently through the ship, winding his way through the corridors and up to the bridge, the doors on the turbolift slid open just as the ship went to warp.
Captain Thirteen and Commander Parsons were in their seats,
"Sirs'" Williams greeted curtly, "I trust you are both well, and if not I m here to help" he chuckled at his own joke, "Welcome to the Hope"

Joanne was at her Ops console when the new command team arrived, she wondered why starfleet had so quickly replaced the last team and if these two were perhaps specialists for this mission, part of her question was answered almost immediatly
Parsons asked,
"No sir. It was only catalogued recently and there is no extensive data on it. In fact there has been very little research done on micr-wormholes. Its been theorised they could be used for fater comunications but the applications could go much wider than that"

Wondering about the micro-wormholes, Shris thought back to an incident several years ago, "Sir, I have no idea if the two are even related, however I did serve on a ship that encountered a space phenomenon that did have an effect on phasers. To make a long story short, once fired the beam was disrupted and split into spidery veins that went out in all directions ... like shining light through broken glass. The phenomenon also projected images that were not in that sector ... we could never ascertain where the images were coming from ... nor what the images were ... but the threat to the ship was real. No amount of phaser fire was beneficial and the effect was not the same no two times." Sitting up right in his seat now realizing the threat if the ship was to come into any danger, he added, "I do not suggest phaser fire ... however I can't really support torpedoes either as we never fired any into the phenomenon as we couldn't take the risk."
Thinking that he had thought about this enough he didn't allow the CO to respond. "I know that I could take a phase coil emitter and modify the torpedoes .... allowing me to guide it around any phasing that may happen in the micro-wormholes," standing to go get to work, "I will go start working on that."

"I had no idea you were our captain, commander Merit," Thirteen said eying his chief of operations sternly. "In response to your question commander Parsons," Thirteen said as he turned to his first officer, "the little information Starfleet was able to provide me is that a micro wormhole could be as small as thirty centimeters in diameter, or even less. We are to expect a size of that like."
Thirteen listened carefully to Zaksh'riszehn's story. He motioned the eager tactical officer to sit down again before he said anything. "I encourage your enthusiasm lieutenant, however we have no idea whether the phenomenon we are headed for is anything like that which you have encountered. Nevertheless I do want to take your remark into consideration. You are to work together with the science department to see whether you can discover similarities, if so, report to me and we will make further plans."
"Ensign Williams, I would like to see a report on the health status of our crew on my desk by the end of the day. Very well, everyone knows their task, let us get to work, dismissed." Thirteen exited the briefing room as last, and once more took his seat in the command chair of the Hope.

Captain Thirteen and Commander Parsons were in their seats, when Doctor Williams greeted them. "Sirs'" Williams greeted curtly, "I trust you are both well, and if not I m here to help" he chuckled at his own joke, "Welcome to the Hope" After pausing for the Captain's response: "I am quite well, Doctor," Parsons said taking the man's hand and shaking it firmly. "Very nice to be here." *** The FO listened politely during Merit's response to his question, even though it was not directed at her. The Captain then, corrected her with a bit of sarcasm and answered the question more directly. Parsons nodded to acknowledge the answer to his question. *** Thirteen listened carefully to Zaksh'riszehn's story. He then motioned for the tactical officer to be seated and gave instructions for Shris to proceed along, what Parsons considered, a more reasoned approach under the circumstances. The Captain issued a final order the medical officer regarding crew health reports and dismissed the senior staff. Thirteen exited the briefing room, and took his seat in the command chair of the Hope. The Hope's Executive Officer was seated beside him.

During the time it took the Hope to reach their destination, nothing out of the ordinary occurred. "We have arrived sir," Kuragh said. =/\= Science, report. =/\= =/\= It appears that this phenomenon is indeed a micro wormhole sir, =/\= came lieutenant Prendel's voice over the comm. =/\= Alright, start extensive scans, and prepare a probe for close up examination. =/\=
"Sir," came Merit's voice from the ops console, "I am reading some strange energy readings in the vicinity. They appear to be moving. Wait, it's in front of us now!" Thirteen eyed the view screen and saw the space that lay before them ripple before it revealed a Klingon Bird-of-Prey. The ship turned and opened fire, but the Hope was never hit.
"Red alert, raise shields!" Thirteen commanded. "I'm reading ships with Ferengi signatures behind our vessel sir," said Zaksh'riszehn manning tactical. Two more ships could be seen decloaking on the Hope's main view screen. It was another Bird-of-Prey and a mighty Negh'Var battle cruiser. The Klingons had clearly opened fire on the Ferengi D'Kora marauders.
"Hail the Klingons," Thirteen said. "I can't sir," said Joanne, "communications are being jammed by the shield polarity of the Ferengi ships." "Get us out of this fight mister Kuragh!" Two of the D'Koras were still in good shape, but the third had sustained heavy damage, and was once more under attack by the Klingons.
As the Hope came into motion by lieutenant Kuragh's hands it shook violently. "Report!" Thirteen exclaimed. "It's the Ferengi sir, they have targeted us!" "Power weapons and return fire! Evasive maneuvers mister Kuragh!" "Brace for impact!" Zaksh'riszehn called from the tactical station. An intensely bright flash of light filled the bridge of the Hope, and Thirteen blacked out.
"Where - where are we?" Thirteen asked as he opened his eyes. He felt the cold metal ground, and noticed that he was lying on the floor. He picked himself up and scanned his surroundings. He found that he was in a dark, small maintenance room. As his eyes got used to the dark Thirteen saw a silhouette lying on the floor, and he hurried over.
He could discover the features of his chief of operations. "Commander Merit, are you alright?" She moaned softly as Thirteen lifted her up. "Wake up commander." "S-sir? Where are we? What just happened" "I have no idea commander." They fell silent as they heard a soft tapping from one of the walls. "Captain, is that you?" came a muffled voice.
Thirteen dismounted the hatch the sound came from, and discovered commander Parsons's face hidden behind it. "Number one, are you in order? Is there anyone of us with you in there?" "I think I'm alright, mister Kuragh is here with me. Any idea where we -" Adam didn't get a chance to finish his sentence as their surroundings shook violently. "A ship that's in battle?" Joanne suggested.
"Does this interior remind you of something mister Parsons?" Thirteen asked his first officer. "Not directly no." "Let us get out of this closet first," Thirteen said, as he helped commander Parson and lieutenant Kuragh reach the other room. "Wait!" Kuragh said suddenly, I know exactly where we are, how could I not have recognized? This is a Negh'Var battle cruiser."
"If we are here," Adam started, "then who's on the Hope?" "Last thing I can recall that we were struck by the Ferengi, and this big flash of light," Joanne said. "They must have taken our ship!" Kuragh exclaimed. "Let us not jump to conclusions," Thirteen said, "let us seek the commanding officer of this vessel, and explain the situation." "With all due respect sir, I don't that that's a good idea," Kuragh said, "Klingon aren't the friendly types during battle." "It is the only option I see at hand lieutenant," Thirteen said, "I want my ship back. Let us proceed." Thirteen forced the door of the room open, revealing an empty corridor. "Alright mister Kuragh, lead the way, take us to the bridge."

Williams had just reached his lab when suddenly the alert klaxxons went of he raced the final 10meteres and entered sickbay. He saw his well trained staff already preapring for casualties.
The ship rocked violently and suddenly the ship was gone.
"Looks like we ve been kidnapped" he noted, "Perhaps we should try and find out where we are and if any of the others are around."
With more courage than he felt Williams headed for the door, it opened out on to a corridor, with a shrug he went out followed by Taralm and his nurses.
Williams shook his head in confusion, one moment he had been in sickbay and now he was in the dark somewhere. Again he was rocked as whatever they were on shook. He looked about him, it was a large room something akin to a cargo bay, with him were most of his medical staff and Ensign Tormal who had been just leaving after getting a fractured wrist repaired.

"Actually sir thats not necessary, I am the CTSO its my responsibility and I m more than familiar with the layout. This way."
He led the assembled team down the corridor to a trubolift. This will take us to the primary deck and from there the bridge is close by"
"Good work" Parsons said with a smile,
They all enetered the lift and went up. The doors opened revealing 5 klingons. With a whoop Shris leapt forward. He span in the air kicking the 1st klingon back into a bulkhead. The second came up with a roara but shris ducked and shoved his fist into the mans face letting him crumple to the ground, As the body dropped he lifted the daktag from its scabbard and plunged into the neck of the third. The last two came on together but with an expert combat roll Shris came between them and the Captain who they had charged at. With a blood curdling scream he kicked hard and one went down. The last klingon turned wide eyed in terror and ran off.
"Phew." Shris said wiping a single bead of sweat from his brow, "That could have been close, way clear sir"

Parsons watched as the events between the Klingons and Ferengi unfolded. The Hope seemed to be caught right in the middle of a firefight that the Federation had no part in.
"Brace for impact!" Zaksh'riszehn called from the tactical station. That was the last thing Parsons remembered before finding himself in what appeared to be a crawl space or maintenance tube of a foreign ship or facility.
After a few seconds, Adam thought he heard Captain Thirteen's voice on the far side of a nearby hatch. "Captain, is that you?" Parsons shouted through the hatch and bulkhead.
Suddenly the hatch was removed. "Number one, are you in order? Is there anyone of us with you in there?"
"I think I'm alright, mister Kuragh is here with me. Any idea where we -" Adam didn't get a chance to finish his sentence as their surroundings shook violently. "A ship that's in battle?" Joanne suggested.
***
The Captain helped commander Parsons and Lieutenant Kuragh reach the other room. "Wait!" Kuragh said suddenly, I know exactly where we are, how could I not have recognized? This is a Negh'Var battle cruiser."
The officers then traded stories of their last memories on the Hope and Thirteen gave instructions on the course of action they would take: contacting the commander of the Klingon ship they had somehow ended up on.
