Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on May 5, 2005, 2:15am
Kay surveyed the bridge as the officers on duty fell silent. She knew all of them were aware of her drunken antics on Bellicose and she felt the sting of embarrassment reddening her cheeks. Kay had always been a shy person. Being the center of attention was never comfortable for her be it for admiration or condemnation.
She decided to face the music and pay the piper.
“Before I bring you up to date on our next mission, I’d like to offer a word of apology. My conduct on Bellicose was far from exemplary.” Kay averted her eyes to the deck plates. “And were it not for the good graces of Admiral Clark, I’d probably be in the brig right now. But, somehow, he has granted all of you amnesty with a mention of misconduct in my personal record only. I, being your Commanding Officer, take full responsibility for our… ahem, …escapades.” Kay paused and looked around the bridge. All were listening intently to her every word. But Cornette had never been one to maintain seriousness for too long a time. She gave Commander Sovas her best imitation of an evil eye and said, “Commander, henceforth, if you could restrain your blatant sexuality towards waitresses, we would be very appreciative.”
Sovas’ eyebrow shot upward in surprise. “I assure you, that it was never my intent to…” Sovas trailed off as the bridge erupted into laughter. He very nearly gave an audible sigh as he realized that, once again, he was the butt of the Captain’s frivolity.
Kay was still laughing as she took the center chair. Wincing slightly from the lingering pain in her ribs, she shifted to find a comfortable spot. She noticed Janeway was watching her and immediately put on her best poker face. There was no way in Heaven or Hades that the Doctor was going get her back in sickbay anytime soon; she’d make sure of that. She’d had her fill of medical procedures for a lifetime.
“Now, crew,” Kay said after everyone had settled down, “Several years ago, I, along with Commander Hawk, spent some time serving on the USS Hepta. One of our earliest missions had us bound for Federation Outpost Iota 626. Iota 626 is located on an atmospheric moon called Tysan which orbits Zenaxia III. We were sent there to rescue a scientific team and correct the decaying orbit of the moon. Gravitational stresses on the moon had also caused open fissures. These openings spewed forth a toxic gas composed of an element that had never been classified. The scientists of Iota 626 had dubbed the gas “Tysanide”. Continual exposure to the Tysanide proved to be fatal even when environmental suits were worn. Maximum exposure is projected to be around 4 hours after which death is imminent. The properties of the gas also interfered greatly with communications; short range communication was garbled but usable; long range communication was impossible. Transporters were also disabled by the unique properties of the gas. We attempted to use pattern enhancers but they proved unreliable for humanoid transport.”
Kay paused a moment to punch up a visual of the moon on the forward viewscreen.
“When we arrived at Tysan, we discovered that the decay of the moon’s orbit was not a naturally occurring phenomenon but was artificially induced. Who or what had caused the orbital breakdown was never determined. However, as we were getting ready to leave the system, then-Cadet Michael Kruse discovered something extraordinary.”
Kay deftly played her fingers across the controls of her the armrest and another image filled the viewscreen. This time, the display looked like a chemistry lesson from everyone’s cadet days at the Academy.
“For those of you with excellent chemistry backgrounds, you will recognize this as kaolithium in its raw ore state. As all of you are aware, kaolithium is an extremely valuable industrial resource, essential to the manufacture of indestructible ceramics – such as those from which our very own Majesty’s hull is made. But that’s not the extraordinary part.”
Kay switched the image again. This time, a warning text glowed across the picture and an audible warning blared.
=^= The following report is classified. A level 5 security clearance is required. =^=
The bridge crew simultaneously jolted. Level 5 codes were for ultra-secret Starfleet files and most of them had never seen a Level 2 file in their entire careers.
“This is Kaylana Cornette, Acting Captain of the USS Majesty. Security Access Code Alpha-Two, Epsilon, Beta.”
=^= Voice print analysis confirmed. Retina scan confirmed. Clearance confirmed. Access when ready. =^=
“Duty requires me to state the obvious; this material is highly classified and all of you are bound by your oath to Starfleet not to breathe a word of this to anyone.”
The screen image shifted once again and Kay continued, “The scientists discovered an isotope of kaolithium, provisionally named Ka-13, with a half-life of 2.7 million years. As this is the first time this particular isotope has been discovered, we really cannot say what possible applications it might have. Its very long half-life makes it, by isotope standards, relatively stable. However, the scientists on Tysan had been experimenting with it and they established that, if it is constantly bombarded with upsilon radiation for approximately 14 hours, it rapidly decays into trilithium-92. Now trilithium, as you may be aware, is an extremely rich energy source very similar to the dilithium that is used in our warp core. But, Tri-92 is an isotope of trilithium that had not previously been successfully synthesized.” Kay took a deep breath before continuing. “It has been speculated – theorized, mind you – that from Tri-92 it may be possible to synthesize Oppennium-46.”
Eyebrows went up all around and mouths were agape. Oppennium-46 was the most dangerous element in the known universe. It had been isolated, but only in microscopic quantities. Theoretically, it had been calculated that a quantity the size of a thumbnail could release as much energy as a supernova. They’d all heard of it but this was the stuff of science fiction.
Cornette let the crew mull it over for a few seconds before adding, “Even more startling is the fact that the scientist’s preliminary survey predicted… from the known deposits of Ka-13 on Tysan, it was speculated that a possible 200,000 tons of Op-46 could be synthesized."
Gasps were heard and someone on the bridge uttered a low whistle.
“Now,” Kay switched off the viewer. “The Hepta was able to correct Tysan’s decaying orbit and thus, seal the fissures emitting the toxic gas, but we had to leave the discovery of who was behind the intended destruction of the moon to someone else. Warning buoys were deployed detailing the effects of the Tysanide gas to ward off anyone who got too curious. The buoys were also equipped with intelligence gathering technology. Anyone entering near Zenaxia III would set of an alarm which would be relayed back to Starfleet intelligence. That alarm was activated just 22 hours ago. It should also be noted that since my last visit, several scientific teams have re-inhabited Iota 626 under a heavy cloak of stealth.” Kay got up from her chair and slowly made her way toward the bow.
“Due to my previous involvement with this, Admiral Clark has ordered the Majesty to the Zenaxia system with haste to find out who is lurking around Tysan. Our main goal is to protect that moon at all costs.” Kay waited a beat or two then asked, “Any questions?”
OCC: Sorry about the unusual length of this post… but I’ve wanted to use this mission idea ever since it was introduced by Cadet Mike Kruse (who is no longer a member of S47) nearly 3 years ago. I’ve asked our illustrious Commodore Kruse about using his brother’s plot concept (yes, in real life, they are siblings) and he gave me the greenlight. I would like to humbly acknowledge my burglary of his idea and the outright plagiarism of a portion of what is written here. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on May 5, 2005, 2:05pm
Sovas was somewhat in awe of what he was hearing. Even if he was a tac officer, he had taken several courses at the Vulcan science institute, and indeed Starfleet academy pertaining to physics and unusual phemonena. Never had he heard of something so powerful. Once the captain had finished her briefing, she asked the crew if they had any questions. Sovas rose to ask one.
Sovas: Captain, if we do indeed encounter hostilities, I would recommend extreme caution. If we engage in combat, we could risk destablising the particles. It is logical to assume that the consequences would be dire.
OOC: Sorry about the short post. I am not feeling too well at the moment. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on May 5, 2005, 8:53pm
Happy to be finally getting to a mission outside the academy, she notices something funny is going on with her captain again. Why would the captain switch sides like that? The answer was obvious to Liz. She had started to scan the captain without her knowledge to confirm what she suspected. It didn't take long, but the captain had started to brief them on the mission, and she realized how important it really was.
After hearing what is going on, she turns back to her console remembering the scans. She brings up several documents on information she will need for the mission, hoping to cover her tracks if necessary. She looks at the scan, and finds to her dimay that Cornette is hiding a small fracture in her ribs. She shakes her head and realize the captain is looking at her. She brings up a few things, as the captain comes over. Remembering exactly what she brought with her, she smiles as the captain joins her. Cornette looks at her console.
"Anything wrong, doctor?" She says still not showing her pain.
"Yes, but I believe I can fix that right now." Liz says quickly bringing the hypospray up to the captains neck and applying Aretothyne. It is just the thing for a fracture no matter where it is located. Liz is glad she remembered to carry that with her, even though she had no idea at the time why it was needed. She had had something nagging at the back of her mind, and was glad she heeded it. The captain looked unhappy. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on May 8, 2005, 3:01am
Sitting at the Engineering console listening to the Captain lay out our mission briefing I couldn't help but feel a little hesitant. After all I had just spent my entire time back at the Starbase getting the ship put back into proper order after our previous mission.
OOC: I also would like to apologize for the length of this post. it is much too long!
Just kidding. but all joking aside I would like to announce the birth of my son this past Tuesday and give a little caution in that I will most likely have periods where I will just be unable to post. This will be not only due to my son but also to the fact that I am working 80 hour weeks right now. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Michael Aarons on May 11, 2005, 2:22pm
No questions posed, there was no need to wait for anything more. Kaylana returned to sit her butt down in her chair. If ever there was a time she felt like the captain, it was now; having gone through a whole mission, at least, as the acting captain for the starship, she was definitely sure in her duty with this one. Kay: "Mr. Aarons, take her out. Plot a heading and set course for Zenaxia III." Aarons: "Aye, Captain, setting course." he responded all the while his hands inputted on the console. >Ping<"Starbase Bellicose Flight Command to U.S.S. Majesty: you are clear and approved for departure. Ahead, station keeping, azimuth 68o, Z +2 to base doors and good luck." and Aarons followed the instructions as the call closed. The Majesty arrived at the point as then the doors of the station slid open; they did so quite hurriedly, and Michael'd always kind of wanted to do this, he punch her forward with full impulse. As Majesty egressed out the doors, he put forth the computations to make for Zenaxia and steered her into the right heading. Apparantly Starbase Bellicose hadn't done too bad a job dictating their launch procedure since there was almost nothing to bringing to the heading set for the asteroid. The navigator set pathway markers for the course requirements and set the speed for which the vessel would embark. With all that done, set at Warp 9.3, Majesty's warp engines engaged, and in a display of grandeur ending in a flashing light, shot through space to parts far off. Michael began to prep for the alteration of course as they would need it, to get through to this wayward satellite for which they had been recalled and ordered to. Commander Sovas deeply studying the knowledge on Oppennium-46 while Com. Greenwood did his usual to fake work while trying to read. Rhymer was fretting and sobbing over the stats of his poor, poor warp engine and how they were mistreating her while at that point, Dr. Janeway finished whatever she was doing and headed out, probably back to sickbay. Teg and Hawk seemed rather unoccupied (if only they had a station like Nick) all the while Kay sat back patiently, likely pondering her original visit there. Down in the security office, chief (ensign) T'Rok reviewing the security nature of their destination and formulating a plan for safeguarding the crew while at Zenaxia. There was definitely going to need be a team to watch over whatever away team that might get sent though chances of a boarding party from the intruder vessel were possible; T'Rok couldn't decide whether it best to stay or go, if there were more likely to be trouble below or more above. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on May 15, 2005, 10:47pm
TEG was siting at his console next to the Captain, reading the information the captain had given him about Zenaxia III. Hawk, at his console at the front of the bridge worked feverishly over something. Hawk then spoke, "Captain, I believe if we wrap our course around the Zenaxia system, we will be able to mask our approach from whomever is in the system.
TEG checked the information, agreed with Hawk, then noticed something strange, a name of one of the scientists on Iota 626, Dr. Horace Schmidt. Schmidt was most noted by his inadvertant creation of SNITs (Synthetic Nuclear Insect Technology) on Rigel IV. He also published several articles in the Maldrosian Science Magazine about the benefits of OP-46 for infinite power for starships. TEG brought this to the attention of the Captain. She then ordered Nik to study up on Dr. Schmidt to make sure we know everything about what this man is capable of. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on May 21, 2005, 9:25pm
Hawk stood up are after the Captain requested any questions and he knew that what he had to say would not be taken well among the crew but it had to be said non the less. He looked around the bridge at all the new crew members taken on at Bellicose and could not help but wonder if any of them were the enemy or indeed spies for some new unknown species bent on destroying the known universe.
“Yes mister Hawk what is on your mind?” inquired the Captain.
“Well Captain it is well known that any mission of such a high degree of security should require us to maintain security alert at all times. I now suggest that all crew that joined us on Bellicose be removed from any position of authority. I believe it is possible that we may in fact have spies aboard which would have taken the opportunity to add spies to our crew at starbase.” Hawk was interrupted.
“In my ready room now Mister! Commander TEG you have the bridge.” came the forceful command of Cornette.
“Aye Captain,” replied TEG
Hawk looked at Commander Aarons with what seemed to be a request to back him up.
“Captain I must concur with Mr. Hawk on the need for security alert,” insisted Mr. Aarons.
She quickly stood and paused a moment as the effects of the night before had not fully wore off. The thought of spies aboard her ship was inconceivable to Kaylana but still if it were true she needed to know just what brought Hawk to that conclusion. The fewer that knew about this possibility the better at this point she thought as she walked toward her ready room. The fact that her new Chief of Security was just assigned gave her great concern for the safety of the ship and its crew.
The Captain turned and commanded, “Mr. Aarons put all decks on security alert and have Mr. T’Rok report to my ready room!”
“Aye,” Captain replied Aarons.
Everyone on the bridge was in complete confusion about what had just taken place and more than that, what was to come of it all.
The night of the bar fight while both Commander Hawk and Aarons were on the bridge they received a Top Security Communication from Section Admiral Duke Nova and the Co of Section 31 about the possibility of a security leak which could have allowed spies to be assigned to the Majesty at the last minute before they were given their new mission or even knew what it was about.
Both Hawk and Aarons were ordered not to reveal there additional orders TO ANYONE, including Captain Cornette until they were underway. The orders were sealed for only the Captain and those members believed and confirmed to be loyal to Starfleet, starting with Hawk and Aarons.
The entire bridge had their eyes and Hawk and he looked each person in the eye and wondered… There is no way Commander TEG, Rhymer or Greenwood were on his list of possible spies, however T’Rok, Sovas and even Dr. Janeway could not be over looked as a possible threat.
Hawk then turned to follow the Captain into the ready room as Michael called out to the Captain.
“Captain, request permission to join you and Commander Hawk?” Aarons said with conviction.
Without even a glance or break in her stride she replied,” Granted!” as the ready room door opened and she disappeared inside the room followed closely by Commanders Hawk and Aarons. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Michael Aarons on May 23, 2005, 11:23am
Kay: "Okay you two, I want explanations about all this and I want them now! And I'm warning you, THEY'D BETTER BE GOOD!" began the captain almost short of the door fully closing as she swiftly circumnavigated her desk and took a seat. The two officers stood there deciding who to start. Hawk of course began as it was his issue they were in there for. Hawk: "Captain," he noticed her eyes focus right on him, ready to hear everything he would have to say, unnervingly, "Starfleet's highest priority is that one person begins to trust another and in return the same, but the fact that this mission is of such delicate and secretive nature, we cannot appreciate that sentiment, just yet, in these new additions." Kaylana took this in stride with how she was standing on all this. Kay: "And what say you, Mr. Aarons?" Michael: "While I'm probably the last person to succumb to paranoia, I can't deny that there is truth to this. However, the incident with 'Section 31,' from which I'm sure all this spawned, is rather sordid itself. Despite all the recent exposive media deconstruction of its operations since at least before the Federation, I do find unfathomable that they would simply act within the beauraucratic mentality with which they've been reduced to. In fact, at this point, they'd likely still act and behave as if they hadn't been revealed. This just isn't in their nature to be so forward, frankly if there were something so serious to them, they'd have accosted one or both of us in some remote area and would never expected us to tell anyone even the captain but report directly to them. Unlike my excitable friend here, I don't believe that specifically our newbies are the prime suspects for an infiltrator, but I do believe it would be inappropriate to indict them as such by denying them the duties and priveleges of their offices. It's my experience that the first one to point a finger is usually the one to be condemned." This wasn't something to be shrugged easily by the captain and she knew that there was merit to what was said. Kay: "Do you have anything to add Hawk?" >TAG< Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on May 25, 2005, 7:15pm
Hawk stepped in and requested to speak.
"Yes Commander please do," insisted Captain Cornette.
“First of all Commander Aarons I am not that excitable accept where the safety of the ship and crew are concerned.” Hawk stated with a bit of surprise in his voice.
“You really mean the Captain don’t you Mr. Hawk,” Aarons injected.
Hawk just ignored Michael’s comment for the time being because he knew deep down there was a bit of truth in what he said.
"Commander Aarons you know full well that Section Admiral Duke Nova sent us both a message stating that there could be a problem with the new people on board and it came during the evening when you Captain was in the bar and other wise occupied with many of the new crew as well as those members not under suspicion. The CO of Section 31 told us both that their department was unable to intercept the possible spies before we left Starbase. He regretted that we must deal with this threat without their help.” Hawk took a breath at this point.
“I know this Hawk but still it is not likely that Section 31 would openly ask for help,” Aarons said with conviction.
Hawk: “Commander I am a long time friend with SA Nova and I believe he would not have signaled us if there was any other way. He has always watched my back and I believe we are in grave danger.”
“Captain what you do about the new crew is on your shoulders but I advise extreme caution until we can be sure of everyone aboard. And….”
Just then the chime to the Captain’s ready-room door broke through Hawks words and brought the room to total silence.
“Enter” Cornette said with strength in her voice.
The door swooshed open there stood Commander TEG and Rhymer.
TEG: “Captain sorry for the interruption but I believe Commander Rhymer has something you should see without delay.”

Having done her duty as a doctor, she turns back to her console. She ponders what Admiral Elron wants her to do, and smiles. She continues to prep for the mission by reading up on Section 31 and several other documents. She wants to be ready. She sees Teg enter the ready room, and wonders what she has missed by reading her documents. It must be something important since he is interrupting the captain. She shrugs it off and goes back to reading about Section 31. She notices what it is exactly, and wonders if this is going to be as difficult as it sounds.
She clears the sceen when she is done reading what little there is, and suddenly remebers she hasn't doen physicals. She quickly leaves the bridge, heading to her office.
The trip there was short and quiet, and she encountered no one. She entered her office finding sickbay quiet. She enters her office, and starts to call for people to come down, including the captain. She thinks it is better to start now, since she has heard some captains can be really stubborn about physicals. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on May 27, 2005, 10:56pm
TEG stood waiting for the captain to let him and Rhymer in. Kaylana invited them to join the pow-wow in her ready room. TEG and Rhymer entered stood in front of her desk. Kay ordered the compute to seal the room and layed out the the information Aarons and Hawk had relayed to her, she felt it only right that they know. Rhymer then relayed what he had found, listening devices in engineering, astrometrics, stellar cartography, and the bridge. Kay then recalled information about each new senior officer. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Riker/T'Rok on May 31, 2005, 6:12pm
(T'Rok got the order from Commander Aarons to report to the captain's ready room. He wondered for a split second if there was any chance this was about his conduct aboard the Starbase. But the thought quickly left his mind when he remembered the mission at hand. During the fairly long walk to the bridge T'Rok decided that this was probably about security precautions needed to be taken for this mission. When he got to the bridge he noticed most of the bridge crew wasn't there. He tapped the door bell on the captain's ready room door and waited for a response)

OFF: It's a small post but there really isn't much to post right now. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jun 1, 2005, 10:32am
Upset at the number of officers to report for physicals, she tried again with other crewmembers hoping to get someone to respond. She may be the doctor, but right now she was feeling like chopped liver. She shakes her mind of these thoughts, makes her calls, and then turns back to the task of reading up on the mission and her fellow crew members. She finds it interesting about their medical history. She continues to read, and then asks the computer what time it is only to find an hour has past, and no one has reported. She wonders what is going on, and decides to find out.
=/\= Janeway to the bridge =/\=
She waits for a response only to find none. What is going on up there? She tries two or three more times… and then finally she gets an answer.
<tag bridge crew> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jun 5, 2005, 12:53am
She wasn't sure what was going on, and then someone came into sickbay.
"We recieved your transmission, and we would like you to prove yourself here and now. This ship must not reach that planet under Star Fleet command. We must take over this ship, but right now we don't want to alarm anyone. We need your help taking over the ship. Any suggestions?" The man says looking at her, and she just smiles.
"Of course I do. I have been preparing for this since I sent that transmission to you. Computer activate Janeway Beta one six alpha eight program Tango." She says still smiling and not taking her eyes off the new man, who was a Cardassian.
"Which parts of the ship would you like this in?" The computer asks.
"Every portion, but sickbay." She responds, and the whole cardassian party quickly moves inside sickbay as the doors close and seal themselves.
"Don't worry this won't take long. Then we will be able to gather them up, and take over this ship. They won't know what hit them." She says not worried at all. The computer beeps, and she walks over to a console seeing this did the trick. No one was awake except her and the invading party.
"You can roam the ship without any problems, as the whole ship is asleep. Just don't harm them. I want to be able to rub this in later when they wake up." She says taking a phaser ready to follow them.
"Very well. You are now one of us. Congratulations, and now you can help us even more. We will be needing a doctor among us as our last one was shot by the Federation. He didn't survive. I hope you last longer than he did. As for what you can do, well I need someone to prepare to help us be able to move on that planet without radiation being a problem. You can start on that, and then we will see what you can do after you have accomplished that."He says, and Liz just nods. They leave and enter the bridge and engineering without any problems. Their ship decloaks, and several more are beamed aboard. They move the crew to a more secure place, taking their belts and comm badges away from them.
She remembers the command code that was incrypted into the computer that Admiral Elron gave her, and she decides to use it now. Onlly she and Elron know the code, and with it she locks all the Star Fleet crew out of the computer. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Riker/T'Rok on Jun 5, 2005, 1:23am
(T'Rok woke up laying on the floor of his quarters. The last thing he remembered was very suddenly feeling faint. He slowly stumbled to his feet while rubbing his sore head which took the brunt of the fall. As he looked around his quarters he noticed Hawk and Kaylana also on the floor. They appeared to be unconscious. T'Rok hurried over to check their pulse. Both we're still alive. T'Rok shook them both attempting to wake them up. Both slowly started coming around)
T'Rok: Can you two hear me?
(T'Rok waited a second for them to regain their bearings)
Kaylana: Ensign, what is the meaning of this? Where are we?
T'Rok: I can assure you Commander this is not my doing. We're in my quarters..
(Hawk grabbed for his phaser to find nothing there)
T'Rok: Whoever is behind this dishonorable act took our weapons with them.
(T'Rok lay down on the floor next to his bed and grabbed his bat'leth from under his bed)
T'Rok: I'm going to go check it out.
(T'Rok started toward the door but it wouldn't open. T'Rok tried again just to be sure)
T'Rok: We're locked in. Well that's just swell.
(T'Rok slowly turned and then suddenly struck the door with his bat'leth)
Cornette: Ensign! You know very well these doors won't open for a bat'leth..
(T'Rok threw his bat'leth to the floor)
T'Rok: What do you two suggest then?!
<TAG: Hawk, Kaylana> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Jun 5, 2005, 3:56am
Waking slowly and violently ill from the anesthetic that had flooded the ship I realized that I was in unfamiliar quarters. Looking around I tried to fight through the waves of nausea.
"Sit back and relax Commander" Came the confident sound of Dr. Janeway's voice.
" Where are we?" I asked as I was finally able to look around more and noticed that Janeway and I was alone.
"We are in my quarters, though I don't really know how we ended up here. " She replied with what almost looked like a smile flitting across her lips.
" You got anything on you for nausea? Or do we need to go to sickbay? I asked her as I laid back trying to calm down my bouts of sickness
"I do have some things but I would like to scan you before I administer anything." Janeway replied as she helped me towards the door which inexplicably did not open when it should have.
Pushing the open command on the wall panel I was rather shocked when the door still did not respond.
"Computer open door Janeway's quarters." I croaked as clearly as I could.
"Unable to comply" Came the computers response. Starting to feel a new wave of Nausea, though not triggered by the allergic reaction I was having but triggered by the concern I was feeling about something being bad wrong, I looked over at Janeway.
"What do you remember before you woke up in here?"
<Liz> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jun 5, 2005, 4:38am
TEG awoke, in his own quarters. Commander Aarons was starting to awake from the anesthetic that had flooded the ship. TEG's was rumbling, show a great ammount of time had passed since he was on the bridge. He went to see how Aarons was and noticed Nik Greenwood on the floor behind a plant. Aarons was fine, but complaining of a bit of headache, and Nik was already up and around. TEG noticed that neither of them had a commbadge on, so he went to the panel on his desk, and attempted to call someone. All he got back was an error buzz. He then went to the door, same response. Nik made the comment of being a little peckish himself, so TEG opened a drawer of his desk and pulled out an old dutch cookie tin. Inside were Chocolate Chip Cookies, he offered the tin to Nik, who took some, then TEG did likewise. He then extended the tin to Michael, who took some more Cookies. TEG began to ask what everyone remembered just before they awoke here. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on Jun 5, 2005, 2:39pm
Sovas opened his eyes and noticed that he was staring at a bulkhead of some sort. He began to look around and noticed that he was laying on his back in a darkly lit room. He continued to eye the room and finally noticed just where he was: The turbolift. He didn't remember how he ended up on the floor of the lift, and immediately tried to get up to see what was wrong. When he stood, he was met with a bout of dizziness, and felt nausea coming over him. He leaned his head forward to try to shake the nausea off. He knew something was wrong, for he had just tapped the com panel on the door of the turbolift, trying to figure out what had happened.
=^=Sovas to bridge...The turbolift appears to have stopped suddenly...There is minimal power here. Respond, please.=^=
Sovas waited for someone to respond, but there was no one there to respond. He stepped over to the other side of the turbolift, checking the panel on the side to see if he could access the controls and get it moving again. As he headed over, the room began to spin. He stopped for a moment to wait for the feeling to diminish. Suddenly, somewhere near him, his sensitive ears picked up several whispering voices. They did not sound friendly. They seemed to be ranting and cursing angrily. He couldn't exactly tell what they were saying, but it sounded like: "Get that turbolift open! If there is an officer in there, we need him!"
They were definitely not Starfleet. He did not know what ailment had come upon him, but it suddenly dawned that it was some kind of nerve gas...The symptoms could definitely be classed as that. Sovas knew that he had to assume the worst...That someone had come onto the ship and had purposefully rendered him...and perhaps the entire crew unconscious. He did know one thing, he had to leave the turbolift before they got to him. Sovas, still suffering from the side-effects, got up and noticed the hatch at the top of the turbolift. He reached up and pulled it open. A small metal ladder descended and Sovas climbed it and managed to get to the top. He immediately closed it, and waited for a moment.
He heard someone trying to force the turbolift open. He knew that even if he did escape, it would not take them long to find him. Sovas climbed a few feet up the shaft of the turbolift, trying to find some kind of Jeffries tube or EPS junction. He noticed a few feet up that there was a concealed tunnel in the wall. It was probably there for safety precautions, so that if there were a fire or other hazard, the small "wall" could protect the officer in the tunnel. Sovas carefully removed the wall panel and climbed in, sealing it behind him. He did not know his way around the ship, much less the jeffries tubes and other crawl ways. At the moment, the first priority was getting well away from the turbolift... Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jun 5, 2005, 8:19pm
Commanders TEG 24601, Michael Aarons, and Nik Greenwood sat around TEG's Quarters attempting to figure out what had happened to them. They all agreed that the sensation came suddenly, and that it seems that the ship has been taken over by an unknown force. Aarons made the comment about it having to do with the spy onboard that Admiral Duke Nova had warned them about. Aarons then shared all the information he knew with TEG and Nik, since they were to be kept in the loop, as they were long serving officers on the Majesty, and above reproach.
"Well, if I could get the damned LCARS to work, we might be able to do some research or contact others onboard." Mumbled TEG.
"What about Leaving through one of the air ducts to get to the Jefferies Tubes." Replied Nik.
"Well I for one do not like tight spaces, like the air duct, the Jefferies Tube I could manage. But I doubt out XO would enjoy stuffing his 2 meter frame into one of those small air ducts." Responded Michael, in kind, "No Offense Intended Sir." He added, making sure TEG understood what he meant.
"None Taken Commander." Replied TEG coldly.
He could hardly keep a straight face as his mind went to images of him struggling to make one of the sharp 90 turns throughout the air ducting system. Images of torn uniforms, and bruised foreheads allowed him to chuckle lightly. It must have been contagious, as shortly all three of them began laughing. After several minutes of laughter, they regained composure, and TEG got up and grabbed a large pad of drawing paper hoping to map out their escape from this room and to parts elsewhere in the ship.

She realizes the difficulty of her task, and decides it would be better right now if the crew didn't know she had betrayed them. She puts herself and Rhymer in her quarters, and told the commanding officer of the cardassians know her plan. He okays it, and then she removes her phaser and combadge before locking them both in together. That is when he wakes up wanting to know what she last remembers.
"I was working in sickbay on getting the crew down for their physicals, and then all of a sudden i was knocked out. The next thing I know I am here with you. We need to try and contact the rest of the crew, but I see we are locked in here. We don't have our combadges either. I wish I knew who took our ship. Do you have any idea how to contact the rest of the crew?" She says sitting on her bed. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Jun 6, 2005, 2:33am
Sitting down in the chair beside Janeway's bed, I forced my mind to think about the problem at hand and not to think about the nausea I was still feeling.
"Well, we must assume that whomever took our combadges and locked us in here would have also locked out the communications." I said as I stood back up and walked over to the computer console and started punching in commands, each one followed by a negative sounding buzz.
"No love here" I said as I turned away from the computer after a few futile minutes and using almost everything I knew to get computer access.
" You have any ideas on a way out of here miss Janeway?" Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Michael Aarons on Jun 6, 2005, 3:14pm
Since their distinguished XO was not the most nimble of persons amongst them, it seemed like the idea of them all escaping their precarious situation. From what could be told, no forcefields were erected just the computer locked out. Teg: "Computer: who's locked out the computer?" Computer: "Unable to reply, information restricted." That definately indicated a matter beyond a lock out of command functions ordered when ship command is compromised. So that endeavor was routed. That left Aarons a need for a plan and a need to get one fast. Surveying the room he got his inspiration. He went to the door's panel and began breaking it off. Naturally this aroused the suspicion and confusion of the others' but he managed to break off the casing. He followed the path of the switch and the comparator matrix and looked for the data bus leading to and from the part where the doors received orders for being open or closed. This required a bit more panel ripping which got Nik and Teg to join in confusedly though. Aarons: "One of you, grab me a lamp or some light device: a beacon or something." They looked about and found a little tabletop lamp that would do nicely. "Sorry," he gazed at Teg as he snapped the thing open and tore out the bulb part. Using the door circuitry, he grounded one end of the bulb and probed the panel for an open. Luckily, his hunch payed off as the bulb responded faintly to a part where a positive output was generating amongst the wiring et al. After that he went for the servo pathways of the door itself, getting zeros in both that and the comparator that monitored whether conditions warranted stimulating the open or close action. Satisfied with all that and having totally baffled his colleagues standing about observing him, he fashioned a way to jumper the nearest positive output to the servo input and observed the reaction. The doors' servos vibrated a bit; an indication that there was an insufficient amount of force behind it. He severed the path of the comparator to the servo logic and unjumpered the servos. Aarons: "I need a power source, a battery supply or something, that would at least be strong enough for 11V or so." Teg: "What's all this for!?" Aarons: "You'll see," as he smiled a curious little smirk. Nik produced a small little block object that was the battery to the room's verbal interface system. That was perfect as far as Aarons was concerned and he gratefully took it. The battery was rigged to the servos' logic circuits and a system of positive inputs were put to the panel till the doors creaked open enough for them to fight the rest of it themselves. The hall was dank and the air that hit when stood at the door was sweltering and inhospitably uncomfortable. Aarons: "Cardassians." The commander concluded to the others. Teg: "Seems about right for them, although it reminds me of a Borg ship." Nik: "Totally not their style. They're more blunt than precise for such a tactical strike." The door was jammed open as they peeked about for signs of the intruders. After that, Aarons approached the wall and began feeling about for something. When he found it he starting banging it with his elbow. Teg: "What are you doing!?" Aarons: "I'm trying to get an alert station panel open. We need phaser and tricorder gear, don't we? Plus we can get one of those door opener things to get about the ship." So both Teg and Nik began to try and access the wall mounted battle packs. Nik: "So, you don't like tight spaces?" Aarons: "I like alternatives." >TAG< Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on Jun 6, 2005, 6:31pm
Sovas waited just outside the wall panel for a moment, hoping to hear more of the comments from the intruders. It was dangerous, but Sovas very much wanted more information about them. All he could hear was some banging around. He finally gave up after hearing nothing but clanging and banging for about a minute. It was not worth risking his life over...
He would have to learn more about them later. He slowly and quietly crept along inside the tube. Sovas knew he had to get to some kind of terminal or power relay station. The intruders would no doubt try to access the ships internal sensors, and find anyone who hadn't been detained and try to capture them.
A power station, plasma conduits, etc. would be a good thing to look for. A strong power output would most likely disrupt internal sensors for the most part, or perhaps Sovas could trick the sensors somehow...
At the moment, nothing was certain and Sovas had no idea where he was after a while. As he crept along, he began to hear a quiet, pulsating hum. He looked up and noticed that it was a plasma conduit. He decided to follow the plasma conduit, and see where it would lead to...
OFF: Hmm...maybe it would be a good idea for me to look up the schematics for this ship. May come in handy. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jun 7, 2005, 2:15am
The Trio of Commanders, each with a phaser riffle, hand phaser, palm beacon, tricorders, and a mag-lock release handles. The Trio searched all of deck two, only to find a few discarded PADDs. They found a Jefferies Tube access, and climbed down to Deck 3. They again searched, until they came to a locked set of doors. TEG noticed that it was T'Rok's Quarters. Michael confirmed that there were one Human, one Falconian, and one Klingon inside. Nik knocked on the door. From inside came knocking.
"Who's in there?" Asked TEG, already knowing the answer to one of those.
"Captain Cornette, Commander Hawk, and Ensign T'Rok. Who are you?" Came the voice, obviously Hawk.
"Commanders Aarons, Greenwood, and TEG." Replied TEG. "We're going to get you out of there."
TEG then took his magnetic door release and slapped it on the door and pressed the blue button. TEG then began to pull one of the door panels to the side he got the side open.
"Can anyone join this tea party, or is it invite only?" Quipped TEG.
"You guys are a sight for sore eyes." responded Kay.
TEG tossed his hand phaser to Kay. As soon as she caught it, the lights in the room, cooridor, and from the bridge to the officer's lounge ceased operation.
"Aw Crap." Sighed TEG.
"What now?" seconded Kay.
"Qui'PoQ Ne." thirded T'Rok. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jun 7, 2005, 9:59pm
She looks around for a few seconds while Rhymer is busy with the controls.
"No love here. Did you find a way out?" He asks, and she spies the air vents to the room.
"I think I have. Help me remove the covering on the air vent, and we will be able to leave my quarters." She says, and then finds herself feeling a little strange. She ignores it for now, and concentrates on her schemes. She wonders how long they will allow her to pretend to be among the Star Fleet crew before they expose who she is now. She pushes those thoughts aside and finds navigating the air ducts easy. It isn't long before they arrive at T'Rok's quarters. Forgetting it doesn't work she uses the door chime.
"We probably should knock since the lights are out." Rhymer corrects her. She chuckles, then knocks. Aarons and Teg come out with phasers raised. They put them down when they see it is friends and not foes. They all enter the quarters.
"Welcome to our little party. Here ya go." Kay says handing both members weapons and smiling. Liz smiles too. From around the corner comes several Cardassians holding them all at bay.
"We have arrived at our destination just minutes ago. I thought you might like to know." One of the men says to Liz, and she quickly fires on him. She ducks down behind a chair taking the captain with her. She fires several times from behind the chair taking down the Cardie party.
"Why did they inform us of that? What destination? What is going on?" Kay says as she stands up again and starts to dust herself off. Liz decides to play dumb and innocent at this point saying she has no clue what is going on. Luckily the Cardassian wasn't looking directly at her when he said that.
"So are we going to take back our ship?" Liz says ready for the challenge ahead. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jun 11, 2005, 4:30pm
Eight Senior officers, snuck down the cooridor. They reached a Jefferies tube access room. They all climbed down the tubes to deck 6. They then crawled latterly toward the ships neck. After passing through 5 junctions, Nik noticed a noise coming from the tube on the right (port side of the ship). TEG and Hawk too position in the junction room, while everyone else recoiled back where they came from. After several seconds, the doors of the horizontal Jefferies tube opened, after a bit of strugling, it opened. TEG and Hawk turned up their palm beacons and found the approaching person was Sovas.
After Sovas relayed to everyone that he was the reason the power was off in most of the saucer. TEG suggested that they head to Engineering to restore power, and try to contain the Cardies. Kay agreed, and they continued to the neck of the Majesty to use the grand starcase to get down to deck 16.
OFF: Now we're all off to Engineering. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jun 12, 2005, 12:36am
Heading toward the Jeffries tube was easy, and finding Sovas was unexpected. Liz had no idea he was stuck in there the whole time. She wonders how much he overheard the Cardassians actually say, and she wonders if he will be a threat to her plans. She quickly turns her attention back to what is going on, and finds they want to take over Engineering first. She wonders what they will think, and begins to head to Engineering with the rest.
Once there, they scan the area to see how many they have to deal with. There is in all actuality only a handful of them, and they are taken care of rather quickly. Once in Engineering, the computers are taken a look at.
"Computer restore power." Kay says trying to get her ship working again.
"Unable to comply, access code required." The computer states, and she doesn't look happy. She states her code quickly.
"Unable to comply, incorrect access code." The computer states, and she looks really upset.
"Is something wrong captain?" Liz says knowing exactly what is going on. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jun 13, 2005, 8:19pm
Liz slips away from the group without being noticed, and without an answer from the captain. She makes sure she isn't followed and goes directly to sickbay.
She enters to find no one is there. She smiles, and goes into her office.
=/\= Dr. Janeway to the bridge=/\= =/\= Bridge here. What is it, doctor?=/\=
"The bridge crew has managed to escape their quarters, and retake engineering. Someone should go down there and capture them again. Bring them all to me though, including the captain." Liz says, and waits for his answer.
"Good idea. It will be done immediately. For some reason though we can't contact our people. In fact we have no control of this ship. Do you know anything about that?" Sumar says.
"Come to sickbay and let me enlighten you. I think I know who did it, but don't wish to say so with everyone listening." Liz says smiling.
"I'm on my way. Bridge out." Sumar finishes, and she preps for his coming. Liz sends out a gas from engineering, but it isn't medical this time. The gas is from engineering in origin. She smiles and waits for her fellow crew to join her. Sumar joins her shortly.
"Hello, Captain Sumar, come over here." She says, and he actually obeys her. She smiles, "I believe it was Sovas who locked us out, and it won't be easy to get the access code. I could try to coax it out of him, but that won't do. I am going to erase their current memories, and stoe them in different areas of the ship." She says smiling. He nods and goes to leave, but Liz stops him.
"I don't remember saying you could be dismissed." She says pulling him in for a kiss. She pushes back and turns to her work at hand, but somehow ends up in another kiss with Sumar. He pulls back and smiles.
"Well here come your crewmates." He says, and Liz shakes her head. She heads over to the first officer there, and finds it is Sovas himself. She starts to work, and then one by one the bridge crew is taken to different parts of the ship with their memory altered. The only one left is the captain. Liz dismisses the waiting cardassian, who hesitates and then leaves. Liz wakes the captain, and smiles.
"Captain, Sovas has turned on us. He is helping the Cardassians, and we have to stop them. I had to make sure we could get away from him. I left just before he gased all of you, and he has no idea what has happened to him now. The cardassians made me rease their memories. I told them you were a special case, and to come back for you later. They bought it for some reason, and lucky for us we are alone here. I am still trying to find the correct access code. We should stay here for now, and try to come up with a play. Last time we were just gung-ho." Liz says, hoping the captain buys this explanation.

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on Jun 13, 2005, 10:54pm
Sovas ran through the arid hills of the Solkar plateau. It was hot, even for a Vulcan day. He didn't know why he was running, or where to. He didn't know for how long, but he could feel his legs beginning to tire. He ran until he came to the edge of the plateau, overlooking a deep abyss. Sovas abruptly came to a stop. He waited for a moment to catch his breath.
From behind him, he heard footsteps. He turned around and saw a half Klingon/half Romulan woman in a starfleet uniform. Behind her were a group of Cardassians. She grinned menacingly at Sovas as one of the Cardassians advanced toward him. The Cardassian whacked Sovas across the face with a closed fist. Sovas began to fall back wards, toward the abyss. He nearly fell into the deep chasm but managed to keep his balance. The confused Vulcan returned the attack, by cupping both hands and whacking the Cardassian on the shoulder. The Cardassian fell back and Sovas began to advance toward him. One of the other Cardassians whipped out a disruptor weapon and fired a blast at Sovas. The blast was so powerful that it made Sovas fall back.
Sovas was at the edge of the abyss and he didn't even know it, so he began to back up. Before he knew it, he was dangling from an outcropping overlooking the abyss. Sovas desperately tried to climb, but he was weak and achy. He looked up, and saw the Klingon/Romulan grinning again. She took her foot, and she stomped on Sovas' fingers. Sovas hollered in pain and lost his grip on the outcropping. He began to fall to his doom. The last thing he saw was blackness...
Sovas opened his eyes and was met with a bright, flashing red light. He looked around him. He was dizzy, and the room appeared to be spinning.
"It was a dream.... But where am I?" Sovas thought to himself.
The feeling of dizziness disappeared within a few minutes, and then Sovas noticed his surroundings. He was in a darkened corridor. The panels on the wall were flashing red, indicating red alert. He sat up, feeling extremely confused and sick. For some odd reason, Sovas could not remember anything...The last thing he could remember was being in the turbolift, heading to his quarters.
He heard soft footsteps behind him. He turned his head quickly and saw three shadows stepping into the light. Sovas could tell immediately who they were. Cardassians. Sovas stood up immediately and reached for his phaser. It was not there. The Cardassians stopped and put there hands up.
Cardassian #1: We're not here to hurt you. You should know that by now.
Cardassian #2: But do not forget, he was affected by the gas.
Cardassian#1: Ah...That must be it.
Sovas: Explain your presence on this starship, at once.
Cardassian #3: Sigh... It is us Sovas!
Cardassian#1: Shh. Let Sovas collect his thoughts.
Sovas: How do you know my name? Who are you?
Cardassian#3: We are the Cardassian ambassadors, on our way to a conference in the K'Tok system. It was supposed to be a diplomatic mission, to try to mend ties with the Klingon government.
Cardassian#2: Yes...Until this disgrace took place.
Sovas: I do not recall a diplomatic mission.
Cardassian#1: We do not expect you to understand right away, Sovas. There are extenuating circumstances. I am afraid you have been drugged.
Sovas: A logical explanation, seeing as I cannot remember this event you speak of. If you will come with me without resistance, it is possible that you may be exonerated for your crimes.
Cardassian#3: Our- Our crimes?! Are you mad!?
Cardassian#1: Stop! The Commander is simply performing his duty to Starfleet. I wouldn't expect any less of him. Sovas... Have you analyzed the compound in the nerve gas?
Sovas noticed that he had a tricorder in his holster. He took it out and began to scan himself.
Sovas: It is standard nerve gas...Starfleet counter-insurgence issue...But how and why would a Starfleet officer do this...?
Cardassian#1: A valid question. But I am sure you already know the answer.
Sovas: I do not believe so.
Cardassian#1: Come now, Sovas! You are not ignorant. You know that there are those who oppose the peace between the Klingons and Cardassians.
Sovas: It is of course possible.
Cardassian#2: Of course it's possible, and we knew it would be inevitable that this kind of sabotage would take place.
Sovas: I am sorry, but I do not know what you are implying. Either way, criminals or diplomats, you will be safer in the brig. Come with me.
Cardassian#1: Sovas! Please. We can't.
The first Cardassian looked at another and pointed to his chest.
Cardassian#1: Show him.
Cardassian#2 lifted up his uniform and Sovas was surprised by what he saw. The Cardassian had suffered a phaser wound to his chest. Sovas opened the tricorder and scanned the wound.
Sovas: These blasts came from a Federation issue weapon...
Cardassian#3: They came in while we were sleeping! We didn't expect it to happen! A Starfleet security officer...He...he....
Cardassian#1: Fortunately, it was not fatal. But it must be treated soon.
Sovas: .....I am sure there must be a misunderstanding of some kind. Starfleet would never condone-
Cardassian#3: No, maybe not. But there are those within Starfleet who harbor extreme hatred and prejudice toward us.
Cardassian#1: Sovas....I fear that your fellow officers...and indeed the Captain are....
Cardassian#3: They are a bunch of Maquis warmongers!
The first Cardassian closed his eyes as if he was wincing in pain.
Cardassian#1: I don't want to agree with him...But I am slowly beginning to think that it may be the truth.
Sovas: No....It is impossible. I have been with the captain and her crew... They could not possibly be Maquis.
Cardassian#3: It is true!
Cardassian#1: Sovas...you must listen...You are the only one we trust...
Sovas: And why is this?
Cardassian#1: When we came under attack, we contacted you...You bravely came to the rescue and guarded us with your life. With your help, we were able to escape. Unfortunately...they were able to gas you...
Sovas began to weigh the argument. They had several points, but Sovas was still unconvinced that his friends had betrayed Starfleet. It was utterly impossible. However...A small thought was forming in the back of Sovas' mind:
"But could it be true? What if...." Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Riker/T'Rok on Jun 14, 2005, 12:51am
(T'Rok awoke to see a bright room. He felt extremely groggy and he had no clue where he was. He lay there for a moment trying to regain his bearings. After looking around the room he quickly realized he was in stellar cartography)
T'Rok: What am I doing here now...
(T'Rok stumbled toward the door when he heard the access denied chime sound)
T'Rok: What in the world... Computer.. Open this door authorization T'Rok Delta 1.
Computer: Access Codes not recognized.
T'Rok: Well that can't be right..
(He tried yet again)
T'Rok: Computer open the stellar cartography door authorization T'Rok Delta 1.
(This time he made sure to say it more clearly)
Computer: Access Codes not recognized.
T'Rok: What the hell is going on here!
(T'Rok pounded his chest for his communicator only to notice there was nothing there. He spotted a console in the corner of the room and ran toward it. Without hesitation he tapped the communication button)
T'Rok: Bridge?
(He got no response and wondered if his message even got through. After trying and trying to contact different departments around the ship he gave up and with all his strength punched and shattered the console on the wall. He ran over to the doorway and rammed his shoulder into it. The door didn't even move)
T'Rok: P'Taks!
(T'Rok grabbed the door at the seams and with all his might tried to pull them apart. With 10 seconds of pulling at the doors he finally gave up. Exhausted he dropped onto a nearby chair to catch his breath. A few moments passed and he looked around stellar cartography for any weapons or devices that could be of use to him. The only thing he could access was a child's computer which was an encyclopedia of animals. T'Rok noticed in the far corner of the room there was an indentation in the wall where around the corner there was an open door. He quickly sprinted toward it and discovered a science lab. Careful not to make his presence felt if there were any enemies around he decided to tread softly seeing as he was unarmed. He hid behind a few counters as he peaked above to assure he was alone.
After being satisfied that there was no one around he got up and began taking a peak around. Opening random draws and cabinets he grabbed a syringe and put it in his empty holster. There really wasn't much around worth taking. Most of the cabinets were full of gloves, sponges, beakers, and science devices. The science lab was very big. He noticed in the distance the room was even larger than he thought. Rounding a corner there was a whole other section to the lab. He noticed an office at the end of the room as well. Before he got there though he intended to have a look around the second section of the lab. In the science office He found an outdated phaser and dashed toward the door. He yanked the phaser from his holster and aimed it at the door. He turned it up to full power and pulled the trigger. Nothing came from it. He again pulled the trigger. Still nothing. T'Rok took the phaser and threw it across the room. He proceeded back to the science office to make sure he missed nothing. Again he couldn't find anything of use when all of a sudden he remembered his old chemistry classes. He had once learned how to mix chemicals to create an explosion but it never was needed. He took the chemicals and softly placed them on a nearby counter. He had a lot of trouble remembering which chemicals he was supposed to use. Chemistry was never his best subject. After reading the chemical names it came to him. He mixed three chemicals together making sure to add a little extra to assure that it does the job. After mixing it he put the lid on it and chucked it at the door. He dove under a nearby counter. He heard a loud BOOM as he slowly got up to review the damage he noticed the door had a huge hole blown in it and the fire suppression system quickly kicked in and put the fire out.
T'Rok dashed toward the exit when suddenly the floor gave way and he freefalled down a deck. He fell into a pool of liquid. Suddenly he realized where he was. The smell gave away immediately that he was laying in waste processing. T'Rok shouted a Klingon swear as he looked around for a way out. There were no doors which didn't surprise him. Looking up and down trying to find a way out he was unsuccessful when suddenly he spotted a few small indents in the wall. As he made his way over to take a look he heard a whirring sound. Suddenly the floor started vibrating as the liquid began swirling. It seemed that the room was being cleaned. T'Rok quickly grasped the indentations on the wall with all his might and held on as he climbed as high as possible. The wind in the room was incredible as the vents pumped at full strength. At the very top of the room he saw what he thought was a jefferies tube. He violently yanked the access panel off the wall and it fell to the floor. He edged himself into the tube and took some time to catch his breath. As he caught his breath and wiped the liquid from his face he began the climb through the jefferies tube. At the end of the jefferies tube corridor he spotted the ladder. As he prepared to climb up the computer chirped in denial of his request to climb to the next deck. T'Rok pounded the door with frustration.
As he climbed back down the jefferies tube door below him did open. His first thought was that it was probably a trap. However it wasn't like he was going to find anything on the deck he was on except waste. He started a quick climb down the ladder as he passed a few decks. T'Rok was well aware that most of the important engineering systems were on the lower decks. He climbed until the computer denied his request to climb any lower. As he stepped off the ladder he edged his way to the end of the jefferies tube. T'Rok quickly realized where he was. The back-up computer core. But he also noticed he wasn't alone. Two Cardassians guarded the core with weapons armed. T'Rok lay in the jefferies tube for a few minutes trying to contrive a plan) Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jun 17, 2005, 11:39am
"Sovas betrayed us? I don't know about that. Are you sure it was him?" The captain says, and Liz only nods. She doesn't like the news either.
"I am sorry about that. I wish there was something we could do about it. We need to come up with a plan of some sorts. They left me here and allowed me to run about because they need me as a doctor, or so I am told. I don't believe them, and have seen the way their leader looks at me. I think it is for another reason. I want to try and get on their side. I know how, that is with your permission. I can free you from here, but I don't know where you would go. The bridge crew is busy in other parts of the ship, and they are locked in. I would advise you to stay here and hide out, but who knows. I can say I lost you when they come back for you. Hide, here they come." Liz says, and the captain nods twice, once giving permission, and the other as if she understood.
"Where is the captain you puny doctor?" One of them asks.
"She got away from me. Apparently you took your time getting her to me, and she woke up, found out what was going on, and escaped. I want to talk to your leader. Take me to him." She says, and they take her off not sure what is going on.
On the bridge, the Cardassian captain sees her and smiles. They both head to the captain's ready room.
"What is it? Is something wrong?" The captain says.
"No, sir, I just thought I should report. Sovas has been blamed for us losing our ship. They, minus the captain, have all had their memories erased, and are in various parts of the ship. Locked up I might add. The captain is still in sickbay, and she thinks she is hidding from the Cardassians. I played that up good I think. I can't seem to find any way to help you with the planet though. I don't have sufficient information. If you would provide me with more, then I would be happy to work on it. I should do it from here though, so no one gets suspicious about me. I don't want to blow my cover just yet." She says and he chuckles.
"Very well, then we will send the information we have here. Don't worry about blowing your cover, we won't let that happen until you want that." He says, and before he leaves for the bridge again pulls her into a quick kiss. They pull apart, and he leaves smiling and humming to himself. She chuckles and gets to work setting up a place for herself to work on the new problem. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Michael Aarons on Jul 1, 2005, 8:14pm
Michael Aarons had no idea what was going on about him, except for smell of pungency (attributed to the gases) in the air. He only found himself suddenly at the helm of a very sleek type 9 shuttlecraft moving quickly, with an instructor next to him, and a few nameless other peers in back whooping it up. Pushing her into near-relativistic (< Warp 1) speed, the shuttle shot like a bat out of Hell at Spacedock SD-1, coiling around the giant mushroom stalk and up into the docking area. It was truly a feat amongst the likes of the Colvert Starburst and the Picard Manuver. Aarons: "Always... wanted to do that...?" he spoke, somewhat confusedly aloud after it was over as the young passenger expressed how much that 'rocked.' As he began to get chastised for such cavalier behavior from the unfamiliar instructor, a rather imposing boot mashed on his left arm near the shoulder with the intent to awaken him but nevertheless being really unpleasant. Michael snapped awake and found a Cardassian 'commando' looming above him in a very irate mood. Commando: "Are you gonna' sleep there all day, or do you wanna' retake your ship!?" he growled at him. Aarons: "The Hell is going on here!? And you! Explain yourself!" His arm was still smarting from the Cardassian boot. Commando: "I'm trying to take back this ship from those who've seized it and to bring them down." brandishing his weapon at the last bit. Aarons: "But you're a Cardassian, you couldn't be any more out-of-place than an Organian at a wrestling match!" his head wreak of a headache as he was standing up and his arm felt more hurt than it probably should have. Commando: "Do you always go by what you see!?" which in 2386 could mean almost anything for this situation, "Now are you with me or are you going to return to sleep while your starship made someone else's property?" Aarons: "Alright fine! But what's goINg ON HERE!?" Commando: "Your XO's trying to take the ship while the operations officer was trying to beat him to it." The Cardassian gave him a sidearm and they exitted the room at the bowel of the ship near the main shuttle bay. He could sense the emptiness of the weapon by the feeling of impotence while wielding it. Moving through the corridor a dark sense loomed in the commander's mind. He threw down the weapon and kicked the Cardassian behind his knee, bringing the alien to the ground, finishing with a blow to the back of his head. He picked up the small rifle from the soldier; a formidable weapon good for busting up someone's head... if you didn't have use for in the practical manner anymore! Aarons wasn't going to be fooled, he always dreamt in the third person, which tipped him off about the conspiratorial scenario he found himself in. He wondered, were they still at warp? >TAG< Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jul 3, 2005, 7:35pm
TEG awoke, groggy, his head was throbbing. He was in a transporter room. There were several others there, but no other senior officers. The all appeared to have been stunned, as evidenced by burn marks on their tunics. However TEG did not have one on his. He went to the door, and found it to be locked. The Transporter controls were off-line, and several banks of isolinear chips were fried, and even a bio-neural gel-pack was ruptured on the deck plating.
TEG went down the back access way of the transporter room, and activated a hidden panel. From behind the wall spun a type 1 phaser (The small palm units) and a tricorder. He opened it up, and scanned the room. All the junior officers and NCOs were fine, and should awake in several hours, but he needed to get out soon and retake the ship. He reached for another hidden panel, which to his relief was not sealed, and he entered the Jefferies Tube and began to make his way to the computer core. After crawling for 30 meters, he came upon a junction and decided to take a wide beam scan, hoping to find out more about what was going on. On his small screen he found a human bio-sign, conscious, and just above him in sickbay. He traveled down an adjacent tube to another junction, and crawled up one deck. He was now beside the bio-beds in sickbay, ready to rescue whomever it was in sickbay. His tricorder registered a Cardassian and a Klingon in the Doctor's Office. They leave together. TEG takes the oppourtunity to open to hatch and crawl into sickbay. He sees the captain hiding beside one of the bio-beds.
"Psst!"
"TEG, whe...What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to rescue you captain. Do you know where anyone else may be."
"Liz just went with a Cardassian to the Bridge. Otherwise, no."
TEG stands up and rushes over to a counter, steals some vials and a hypospray.
"What are you doing?"
"Getting supplies in case we need them."
"Why?"
"Because You and I are going to find the rest of the senior officers and try to get out of this."
"Ok, but don't bother helping Sovas."
"Why?"
"Because he is the one helping the Cardassians."
Suddenly TEG's tricorder begins beeping.
"Crap, someone's coming. Let's go."
Kay and TEG rush into the hatch, and TEG closes the hidden hatch, just in time before 3 huge Cardassians enter the room.
"Thankfully they camouflaged all the Jefferies Tube accesses while we were in for repairs. The Cardassians will never figure out how to get in here, nor will they be able to scan for us with out special callibrations."
"Thanks for small favors."
"Lets get to the computer core and find out what is happening."

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Jul 4, 2005, 12:36am
Hawk awoke and found that the senior crewmembers as well as the Captain were gone and he was in a different part of the ship. There were a handful of junior officers and crewmen with him but all were unconscious. He managed to get most of them awake and headed out to find the Captain or regain control of the ship.
While they were hunting for weapons of any kind Hawk runs into Lt. Falco and a few other crewmembers. Falco and his group had already acquired some weapons so they joined together and headed out.
Just a short time later:
Disrupter and phaser fire erupted down the corridor against the hasty position held by Hawk, Falco and a handful of junior officers and crewmen as the Cardassians pressed their offensive. The Hawk and the junior officers fought valiantly and poured fire upon the advancing Cardassians ending a few lives of the undaunted foes and wounding some of Hawk's men.
Peering around the side of the small barricade Hawk and his men had built from whatever was handy; Cmdr Hawk fired a long burst from his hand phaser. The beam tore deep into a Cardassian warrior who had advanced close to the makeshift barrier.
"OK. Lt. Falco, I'm taking half the crew and falling back to Astrometics. We'll set up an old Falconian trap for them there. Hold them off for another five minutes and then fall back past us. When the Cardassians pass our position, I'll signal you and we'll catch them in a vice lock. You understand all that, lieutenant?"
Falco wiped some sweat off his head and nodded. "Yes, sir. We'll hold them off and then come racing toward you. I think there's about twenty of them left, and I don't think we can expect any help from other Majesty crew members because of the condition most were in when I woke up."
Hawk nodded. "You're right. I would have liked to have found another 10 or 15 officers conscious, but as luck would have it, they can't get any reinforcements either. Time is short and I must fly like the wind" Hawk turned and tapped five officers on the shoulder and they followed him, running down the corridor out of view from the rest of the crew.
Falco turned and saw that two of the crew had been hit. They were leaning against the bulkhead clutching wounds, blood seeping through their uniforms. Not expecting a massive firefight, they were caught short of weapons and hand-to-hand combat experience. Lieutenant Falco moved up to the front and lay prone next to one of the cargo barrels they used as cover. "Ensign Hanson, toss me two of those pressure grenades we relieved from those two Cardassian guards. Set them at power three; don't want to breach the hull."
First Ensign Hanson reached into his nap sack and pulled out two pressure grenades. He carefully adjusted the settings on the silver ball-shaped mechanism as directed and lobbed them to Falco. Falco released the safeties and threw them at the oncoming Cardassian troops. The resulting explosion in the midst of the enemy troops sent shrapnel flying through the corridor and flooded the immediate area with high-intensity blast radiation. The Cardassian warriors spread out, jumping for cover. Their advance was temporarily halted.
"OK. Men, fall back toward Astrometics. We'll meet up with the Commander and wipe these starship hijackers out and hopefully see how many other crewmembers are awake. Crewman Johnson, take care of the wounded and follow us up," yelled Falco. He watched his crew lay down cover fire and withdraws, slowing the advance of the remaining Cardassians. Hawk and his officers lay waiting in Astrometics. They had propped open the sliding doors and hid in adjacent rooms, waiting for the Cardassians to run past them as they pursued Falco's group. Hawk planned to execute a rear ambush and, hopefully, keep his crew from any more harm.
The ambush plan worked well. The Cardassians passed by Hawk's position as expected, placing themselves into a deadly crossfire from Hawk’s crew. After the last Cardassian fell, Hawk, Falco and his officers heard a muffled scream for help. Falco ran over to a closed maintenance access as another crewmember opened it warily. Phaser ready, Falco peered in and saw a Starfleet crew member there, wounded but conscious.
"Who are you?" asked Falco.
The man with a bald head and beard stood up. "I'm crewman Henshaw. I'm the Recreation Officer. During the attack I was knocked unconscious. What is going on around here Sir?"
Falco shook his head. "Cardassians have taken over the Majesty and we are going to take it back. You come with us. We'll take care of you."
Henshaw smiled weakly. "Thanks."
Falco turned toward Hawk saying. "Well Hawk, you ready too take those Cardassian serpents down?"
Hawk was propped against the bulkhead holding his side and had slid half way to the floor when Falco saw the Falconian blood oozing from around Hawks hand.
“Johnson! Bring the med-kit!” Falco screamed. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jul 8, 2005, 10:44pm
Having gotten the new information, she isn't surprised on how much they know. She realizes finding a way for them to survive down there was going to take her hours. She sets about ready to analyze the problem properly when all of a sudden she hears phaser fire on the bridge. She isn't sure about what is going on, and decides to erase all the data in front of her, but not before she backs it up in the main computer. She grabs at her own phaser to find it is missing. She curses and wonders when it was removed, and then realizes it must have been in that last quick kiss. She now looks like a captive. Smart thinking on the Cardassian captain's part. She enters the bridge to find several Star Fleet officers have taken the bridge. She is stunned, and then remembers to look happy.
"Thank you. He has been keeping me here at bay for what must be hours now. Luckily I found a couple excuses to keep me from doing exactly what he wanted." She says to one of the officers with a smile. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jul 9, 2005, 4:23am
Commanders TEG and Cornette were crouched just outside the Computer Core Access Room for the USS Majesty. Kay was scanning the adjacent room, and TEG was just finishing programming the phaser to emit a wide beam burst if there just happened to be come Cardassians in the the room.
Kay gave the all clear, but TEG was still had apprehension about it, knowing how the Cardassians would mask bio signs during the Dominion War. He pulled down on the latch and pushed on the door, causing the seal to give way and flooding the tiny passageway with light.
The room was completely empty, save for the huge lilac cylinder that ran from floor to ceiling, and for several Decks in either direction. It was about 5 Meters in Diameter and there was a huge workstation attached right in front of them. TEG made for the station, while Kay went over and locked the doors. She then began to scan out into the cooridor, only to find nothing.
Being in computer control had three distinct advantages, no one could cut a hole in the wall to break in, security lockouts could be overridden, and one could control the entire ship from a single station.
TEG began to pull up the live feeds from the security system. After searching the whole ship, he found Hawk and a group of Junior Officers and Non-Coms fighting against the Cardassians, and he found the most of the rest of the Cardassians were on the bridge. He found Aarons wandering around a corridor. TEG took to chance to try to contact him. He flashed a panel next to Aarons head, causing him to stare into it. TEG then made the panel Aarons was staring at look like a symbol TEG had been using since he was 8, an interlocking T-E-G. Aarons looked up and waived his hand. TEG took it as a sign that he understood his message. TEG then brought up a diagram on the screen and flashed the computer core control room on the screen. Aarons gave the thumbs-up and was off like a shot to the Jefferies Tube.
TEG then switched his focus to the Bridge. He say Liz enter the bridge, wearing a phaser. TEG showed the image to Kay. Kay began to turn red. She walked over to the wall and punched it. There was a knock on the hatch. TEG pointed is phaser at the hatch, and Kay opened it. In came Aarons, dragging several phaser rifles and a medkit. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Jul 9, 2005, 10:19pm
“You certainly are a sight for sore eyes,” TEG said as he sighed with relief.
“I thought we might need these,” added Aarons and he divvied out the weapons among them.
“Michael, from the looks of it, Liz is in with the Cardassians,” Kay said solemnly. She was still flushed with anger but curbing her temper. Besides, the only thing punching the wall did was to make her knuckles bleed.
“Captain, do you still think Sovas is behind all this?” TEG questioned.
“No, I think Liz was using him as the fall guy,” she answered blankly.
She didn’t know how she could have missed it. She could only surmise that Janeway’s likeable nature had blinded her to the possibility of her being so devious. But, someone had to be working closely with the Cardassians on the inside and it made perfect sense that they would use a newly acquired crewmember, just as Hawk had warned. And, even more disturbing, someone higher up than her CMO had to be orchestrating the whole thing. No one had authorization to change her command codes accept… Kay broke off her thinking. It was impossible to think they had anything to do with it but only Admiral Elron, Admiral Clark and the Section Admiral himself had the ability to over-ride her codes. For now, it was enough to concentrate on the moment and get these intruders off her ship.
Kaylana moved to the station TEG manned earlier and studied the live scans from the security system. Kay swore under her breath. “I really could use a CMO right now to tell me how these Cardassians managed to knock my entire crew unconscious simultaneously… and how in Heaven’s name I wake them all up again.” She furiously paged through several screens trying to locate the largest number of crewmen in a confined area. “The Cardassian boarding party can’t be that large of a contingent. We outnumber them vastly. All we need is to get the crew upright and functioning and we can easily overpower them.”
“Perhaps a neuro-stimulant administered in a gaseous form – like she did with the knock-out gas,” Aarons suggested.
“Exactly,” Kay answered as she finally discovered a large mass of unconscious crewmen in cargo bay six. “I’ll see what type of wake-up drug I can flood Bay 6 with… Number One, see if you can’t give them a way out once they’re awake and Aarons, don’t let anyone but a friend enter through that doorway you just came in.” Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jul 10, 2005, 4:45am
The Jefferies Tube was dark, as a shadow lurked outside Cargo Bay 6. The stimulant gas was beginning to dissipate. TEG crouching his massive frame in the small access point waited a few seconds more, before unsealing the hatch and entering the Bay. After Kay had found a suitable substance to release, TEG had found no better way to get the crew out than to lead them through the Jefferies tubes to the Auxiliary Sickbay, where they could have a base of operations for any sort of take over. In the meantime, Commander Aarons had created a communications system that could be used between them by sending minor fluctuations on the EPS relays.
TEG got 125 people to the Auxiliary Sickbay Complex, and appointed several 5 man search teams that would fan out through the Jefferies Tubes and try to recover anyone who might be out there, and to observe the occupational force on board. TEG then took 2 Lt. and 2 POs with him to try to help wake up more people.
TEG and his party were in the main lounge on the Majesty, after Kay revived the 30 people there, when he received a call from Kay. Apparently there is another group of Starfleet people, led by Falco, and they just retook the bridge. TEG then took his men to the Bridge and ordered the ones in the lounge to use it as a base of ops until they received the all clear from him, Kay, or Aarons. TEG then made his way to the Bridge. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Jul 10, 2005, 1:06pm
Hawk remained behind due to his injuries which left him weak from loss of blood and unable to walk. Falco helped Hawk stop the bleeding before leading the crew on to the bridge in hopes to regain control from the Cardassians. Hawk had to order Lt. Falco to leave him behind and carry out his orders.
“Sir I could leave you just one crew member to make…” Falco was cut off by Hawk.
“Lieutenant, I assure you that I will be alright here alone. You will need every hand you have to assault the Cardassians on the bridge.” Hawk said in a reassuring voice.
Falco: “Very well Sir, but I insist you be moved to a maintenance conduit to conceal you from our enemies.”
Hawk knew from the sound of Falco’s voice that he would never leave unless Hawk agreed. They moved Hawk and were on their way to engage the Cardassians on the bridge.
Hawk knew that the crew would need a miracle to overcome the contingent Cardassian force on the Majesty’s bridge or a little help from the ancient bird of luck. Hawk had an idea on how to help if only he could manage to crawl his way to the maintenance conduit computer access terminal which he believed was a mere 50 meters from his current position. It would be a painful crawl and he must try not to reopen his wound since the medkit went with Falco.
Hawk was nearly to his objective when he was startled to find Commander Rhymer unconscious at the maintenance conduit junction just a few meters from the computer access terminal. He revived Rhymer after several minutes, explained the situation and enlisted his aid.
“Ok, Hawk I am ready but there is on guaranty this will work you know?” Rhymer reminded Hawk.
Hawk: “I know Commander but Falco needs an edge and this could be it. I need to try no matter what the outcome.”
Rhymer: “Understood, here we go.”
A FEW MINUTES LATER
Rhymer: “I don’t know what you did Hawk but some of the security lock down systems are beginning to shut down and Falco and his force should be able to gain easy access to the bridge now.” Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jul 12, 2005, 10:32am
She noticed several people were trying to hold her as well as the Cardassians. She wasn't pleased, and wondered if they suspected her. Liz wasn't ready to let them know just yet what was really going on though. She wanted to study the new information she got from the Cardassians before she brought forward her movements to the captain or anyone else.
"What is going on here, Lt? I don't understand why you are holding me. They took me hostage, and when they saw I had a phaser they took it from me." She says and notices he only nods.
"Sorry, commander, I have my orders." He says not smiling, and then the captain is seen on the bridge. Liz stands at attention, waiting for the captain to notice her. She doesn't, and Liz wonders why.
"Captain, permission to speak freely." She says. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jul 12, 2005, 5:19pm
TEG enters the bridge as five security officers carry Ms. Janeway into the turbolift to take her to the brig. She gives TEG a look of contempt and pity simultaneously. It chills TEG to the bone, as does the waves of confusion flowing from her. The the lift leaves, TEG walks into the main section of the bridge. Kay has already taken her seat, as has Cmdr. Aarons at the CONN. Nik Greenwood comes out of the head with what looks to be a fresh uniform and takes his seat along the periphery. He was with Falco when they retook the bridge. Falco was now sitting at Ops. filling in for Hawk. Thinking about him TEG asks Kay about Hawk, and she relays that one of the teams from the Officers Lounge found him and took him to the Aux. Sickbay, where he is resting after being worked on. He should be back on the bridge soon. However, Kay is now concerned about Rhymer, Sovas, and T'Rok none of whom have reported to any of the operation bases, but apparently there are still many Cardassians on board. TEG noticed the crewmen dragging the Cardassians who had been in charge of the bridge, now stunned, into a turbolift to enjoy some time in the brig. Also, there were close to 15 people standing around the bridge, phasers ready, in case someone tries to take over the ship again. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Riker/T'Rok on Jul 18, 2005, 11:13pm
(T'Rok lay on his stomach in the jefferies tube to the side of the backup computer core. After considering his options he made the decision that he was no match for two armed Cardassian guards. Once he found some better weapons or another crewmember if there was one then he could attempt the retake of the computer core. So T'Rok backtracked to the ladder. There was nothing below the deck that would be of interest. The only way now was up. On last check he also couldn't get up above Deck 11. T'Rok decided to check out Main Engineering on Deck 16. He was certain that if they were careful enough to guard the backup computer core than they would no doubt be guarding the secondary command center. But it was still worth a try given the circumstances. Climbing a few levels and winding a few jefferies tubes he reached main engineering. Immediately he spotted multiple Cardassians. There must have been atleast 10 Cardassians if not more. Main engineering was untakeable. T'Rok decided to listen into what they were saying)
Cardassian 1: Where is Commander Janeway!? We need to sedate the ship again.
Cardassian 2: Sir the bridge has been overtaken.
Cardassian 1: They will not overtake engineering. Not without our lives!
(The Cardassian placed a device with blinking lights on the warp core)
Cardassian 1: If they take us down there ship will go down with us.
(T'Rok whispered into his communicator)
T'Rok: =^=Bridge...=^=
(There was no response after a couple of seconds and there was also no way for him to get above Deck 11 as it was still locked out. T'Rok tried again)
T'Rok: =^=Bridge=^=
(After getting no response again he decided that he would take a look around the cargo bays on Decks 11&12. Hopefully there he would find a weapon or two and that there are no Cardassians guarding) Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Jul 19, 2005, 12:40am
“Captain, may I speak freely?” Liz asked nervously.
Kay, who was usually a peacemaker and rarely angry, couldn’t help but seethe at Janeway’s question.
“There will be a formal inquiry into your recent actions, Commander. You may speak then. Right now, I don’t really care to hear anything you might have to say.”
Liz stammered and tried to begin again but Kaylana cut her off. “Lt. Hoffman; Ensign Ruzicka… please escort the prisoner to the brig along with her… friends,” she said pointedly. “Clean up my bridge!” And with that, she settled defiantly into her center seat and made the concerted effort to look like she owned it. Whether or not there was a conscious Cardassian to see it, she wanted to send a clear signal; she’d die before giving up control of her bridge again.
Janeway made a brief effort to struggle against the security guards. Her struggle was mostly because she desperately wanted to stay and talk to the Captain. She realized the timing was all wrong and wearily submitted to their jostling, allowing them to roughly strong-arm her to the turbolift.
TEG met Janeway’s eyes as she departed and he entered the bridge. He had no idea what to make of the mixture of emotions on her face for she was difficult for him to read. As she disappeared into the lift, he shook his head, not understanding how anyone could do what she had done.
Acknowledging TEG’s entrance with a nod, Kay addressed the bridge crew, “Our main objectives are to regain access to engineering, lock out their access to any critical systems and round up every Cardassian. Lt. Falco, see if you can’t clear up communications. I need to contact the Outpost and someone back at headquarters immediately. Nik, try to find a way to keep their paws off the neuro-sedative button. I, for one, am tired of waking up in someone else’s quarters. And make sure they can’t creep their way into life support.”
She turned to TEG who was seated to her right, madly trying to call up status reports from the armchair console. “Number One, try to locate the rest of the bridge crew. I badly need Rhymer and T’Rok but we need to especially find Sovas – I think he may have some answers if you can believe anything of Janeway’s stories. Michael, tie in to Ops and scan the area around Tysan. Those Cardies have to have a ship lurking out there somewhere. And while you’re at it, give me the lowdown on exactly who’s at the Outpost. I certainly don’t want to send an away team down only to have them ambushed by more Cardassians.”
The bridge echoed with a flurry of ‘Ayes’ as an impatient Kay waited for her fine crew to carry out her orders. Not able to sit still, she got up and perched herself behind Aaron’s shoulder. In the absence of Sovas, she’d be ready to fire photons herself should her navigator catch a glimpse of a Cardassian warship. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jul 19, 2005, 4:24pm
Liz gets to the brig, and sees they are holding the party with phasers for the time being. She realizes that power still hasn't been established, and she hits a panel on the wall without anyone noticing, giving power to the ship back to the right person. She continues on to the brig, and stays there wondering how long it will be until this inquiry. She hopes that it won't be long, and then she remembers the new information she has to yet look at hidden away deep in the computer.
"Ensign, please give a message to the captain for me. Tell her I have something she needs to look at. It is in the medical computer near the.. um.... oh right, it is near the cure for aids." She says hoping this is taken seriously. He wonders what it could be.
"Don't go looking for yourself though, ensign, as only two sets of eyes can view this information. It is extremely important, and mustn't be ignored. Tell the captain that Epsilon is counting on her." She says hoping that her security word, which Liz had heard earlier would help convince the captain to take a look. With everyone secure behind a force field, the ensign leaves.

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Michael Aarons on Jul 19, 2005, 5:10pm
OFF: Janeway slipped one in while I was composing this but hers doesn't actually complicate the contents of this surprisingly. ON: Aarons: "We're currently off our appropriate course for Tysan, but it definately seems that's where they were headed. Whatever ship they may have come from, there's a Hideki-class ship on a parallel half a parsec away. Limited occupants aboard, probably a skeleton crew." Kay: "Pull back an make course for Tysan. Hopefully they'll take it as a sign they're ready to head out to do whatever was planned at the outpost." The ship peeled away about 130 degrees starboard and set the course for Zenaxia III's moon and entered Warp. The Majesty wasn't far from its intended point or for that matter its destination. The spatial monitoring systems by Starfleet woke and made a stink to Starfleet Intelligence: Starfleet Command at HQ. Kaylana inputted on Aarons' station clearance protocols for which he rolled his eyes up so as to avoid seeing the codes. The captain found it to be real curtious of him to do that. The monitoring systems logged to Starfleet Command that Tysan was approached by a starship on assignment to that location. They also logged the time of arrival and a couple of admirals noted the discrepancy between their reported time of departure and when they arrived. An aged danger warning transmitted to the ship lecturing the threat of 'Tysanide', which was a laugh considering how long ago it was when the particular speaker recorded the message. The Majesty parked in orbit of the conspiratorious moon. Science readouts registered an unnatural and imperfect orbit for Tysan; the ship as well did not appear to have followed behind them. Aarons: "No ships appear to be present nor any evidence of an intruder vehicle. Bio scans indicate some small indeterminable amount of life. Any lifesigns there are seem to extend across the whole complex. It's masking our ability to gauge presences." Kay calls a meeting in the observation lounge. >Tag on that next move, Kay< Elsewhere on the ship: At the interrogation station, where the interred Cardassians and the like were being grilled, the security force made headway on their former Cardie-captors. Cardassian lower officer: "We were on mission to appropriate for the Cardassian Alliance Military: Oppennium-46, so that we could become strong again after our downfall from the Dominion War." Interrogator 1: "Why was our ship boarded!?" Cardassian: "Because our initial attempts turned vain when our ship alerted itself to the Federation, so we found the nearest Starfleet ship to get us in." Interrogator 2: "Why not just steal ship's transponder information?" Cardassian: "We didn't know how your systems worked so we decided to take the whole ship seeing as it was headed there and would allow us easy accessibility to the research station since this ship was supposed to be there." Interrogator 1: "How did you come into collaboration to overtake this vessel?" Cardassian: "That I do not know, you'd have to consult with my Gul, but he will not be so easy to get information fro...!" Interrogator 2: "That's enough!" Liz was next on the skillet but she was insistent (direly) to confer only with the captain, at that point mysterious orders came in to unquestionably release Janeway back to active status aboard ship and that no further interrogations be put to her at this time. >Tag< Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Jul 21, 2005, 12:35pm
Sarlina sighed. She had finally managed to get her stuff into some decent order. Sarlina remembered the last experience she had with getting onto a ship. She hoped that nothing important had happened when she was gone, such as having every other member of the crew learn what they were doing for this mission.
Sarlina walked onto the bridge in time to see a member of the crew, Doctor Janeway, be led away. Sarlina looked around. Obviously something had happened while she was unpacking.
“Sarlina Vise, reporting for duty as a counselor.” said Sarlina, stepping to the middle in much the way she had on the Hanson. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Jul 21, 2005, 8:36pm
“Captain we seem to be getting hit with an Ion storm which is creating are communications problems, all systems are working to spec.” Falco said as he turned toward the center chair.
Cornette stood up and questioned, “What exactly do you mean by seems, Lieutenant?”
“Sir it is not the normal random ion storm pattern, almost like a manufactured pattern.” Falco replied.
“Confirmed Sir! The ion storm is not natural.” Aarons said confirming Falco’s finding.
“Then what and who is producing it?” Kaylana demanded.
“Captain the pattern produced by the ion storm seems to have a familiar signature,” came a voice from the science station, “Yes Captain the subspace wake from the storm confirms a Cardassian signature.”
“T’Rok, scan for a Cardassian vessel,” the Captain demanded
“Captain the communications jamming is coming from astern.” T’Rok grunted
“Captain Cardassian vessel, Galor class, at 187 mark 4 moving just in and out of sensor range,” Commander Aarons added.
“Confirmed Captain, Cardassian vessel is indeed producing an ion beam which is jamming are communications.” Lt Falco supplemented.
“On screen” demanded the Captain
“Captain someone has just lunched a shuttlecraft and I can not stop them,” Rhymer said as he hit the consol with his fist. “We still do not have full control of this ship!”
“T’Rok do we have any weapons available?” inquired Kaylana.
“Yes Sir, we have aft phasers responding and locked on target,” T’Rok said with a big smile.
“Prepare to fire Mister, this is the last time those Cardassians will mess with my ship!” Captain Cornette said with conviction.
“Captain PLEASE NO there is multiple life signs, Cardassian and Human and Captain, one Falconian life sign as well!” Falco said almost in a panic. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Jul 22, 2005, 4:01pm
"We still do not have full control of this ship!" I reported as I continued to try and break through the access code lockouts.
Just as I was thinking about how much I could use Hawk's help with the Access code lockouts I heard Lt. Falco's report.
"Damn" I muttered to myself as I punched a few more commands into the Engineering console to try and access the backup core memory. Just when I thought that course of action would fail as well I realized that I was getting access to the backup computer core.
"Captain, Whoever arranged this lockout of the computer and systems from us somehow overlooked the backup computer lockouts. We do have limited access right now but all major ships functions are still routed through the Primary computer core and therefore still under lockout." I reported to Kaylana with some enthusiasm.
"Finally some progress, but what does that mean for getting the ship back under our complete control?" Kaylana asked as she faced me from Commander Aaron's shoulder.
"I should be able to get to the Computer core control room and run a complete shutdown iniatiation sequence through the backup core. As you know when either the Primary or backups give a complete shutdown sequence the whole system will reboot itself from the Backup cores. Now when that happens all Access code Lockouts should be restored and we would have full control of the ship." Looking around I tried to gauge the rest of the Bridge crews reactions and could tell that TEG and Kay had both hit upon the same problem with this as I had.
"How long until we get the computers and ships control back after shutdown?" TEG asked.
"Well normally that would take about 4 minutes since it will be rebooting and downloading the required information. If I change the reboot sequence such that it looks for the lockouts first we could cancel the rest of the Download after about 2 to 3 minutes, afterall all we really need is those lockouts reset." I replied as I waited for the go ahead or a suggestion for a different course of action that wouldn't require completely powering down while being shadowed by a known unfriendly Cardassion warship.
<Kay/TEG> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Jul 24, 2005, 2:07am
Kay sighed heavily. If the Cardassian ship was now jamming their communications, then Aarons’ assumption had been premature. Jamming them with an ion beam meant they knew the Majesty wasn’t under their control as her CNO had surmised. Obviously, their primary concern was to keep her from communicating with Starfleet… and the scientific outpost. She shelved that particular problem to concentrate on her Engineer’s suggestion.
“Mr. Rhymer; go ahead with that reboot. Perhaps the powerdown will catch the remaining intruders off-guard… and, if indeed you can interrupt the process in just over 2 minutes, it won’t give them enough time to cause any more havoc.” Kay gave Danny a quick nod. Rhymer bolted toward the lift and was on his way to the computer core and hopefully, to end this standoff once and for all.
Again, Kay was forced to wait; patience wasn’t her strong suit and she began to pace the breadth of her bridge. Trying to piece this together was more difficult than a game of Fizzbin. She needed answers. Why were her codes compromised to begin with? Who was their CMO working with and why? What were the Cardassians doing stealing a shuttle and kidnapping her Ops Officer? This puzzle wasn’t making any sense.
She stopped her pacing and stared at the viewscreen. Aaron’s had switched the view toward the moon and Tysan floated placidly, beguiling and bereft of answers.
“Everything we need to know is down there,” Kay said, barely above a whisper, a frown furrowing her face.
A young, slip of a girl moved forward and spoke softly yet firmly. "Captain," Sarlina was feeling a bit out of place but was discerning enough as a counselor to spot a troubled officer. "I know this may not be the time but I want you to know you are handling this situation the only way you can."
Kay turned and noticed her for the first time. She managed a weak smile - a left-over reaction from her days with dealing with cadets at the Academy, she supposed - never taking out the stress of a current situation on a new crewman.
"Counselor... I'm sorry we've not had a more pleasant meeting arrangement. I usually like to have a quiet drink in 10 Forward with a new Officer... but..."
"Quite understandable, Captain. I had no idea the situation was so tense. I was calmly unpacking my things. I guess they must have missed my quarters when they were busy knocking people unconscious because I even had time to decorate my new office." Sarlina laughed, picturing herself arranging knick-knacks while everyone else on board was fighting Cardassians.
Kay shifted impatiently, trying hard to focus on the young woman's words. Her mind was a blur with all the responsibilities she bore and idle chit-chat wasn't something she had time for at the moment.
Reading her Captain's body language, Sarlina added, "I know this isn't the time for introductions, sir... I only..." The Counselor moved closer and she said for only Kay to hear, "I only wanted you to know you should feel confident in the fact you are doing everything properly."
Kaylana squinted slightly and studied Sarlina's face for a moment. In a very few number of minutes, this new arrival had surmised Kay's unspoken doubts and fears as if reaching into her very mind. "Are you empathic?" she asked softly.
"No," Vise answered, "Just an observer of human behavior." Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jul 24, 2005, 10:35pm
Liz had seen the whole thing, and decided it best to remain aboard.
"You will need someone on the inside here. Just beat me up, and knock me out like I wasn't a part of this. They won't suspect anything, besides you need to leave, and I need to stay. It works out, and I bet they will let me out soon. I just hope that ensign sent my message." She says, and then she gets hit in the head and stomach at the same time. She hears laughter and an apology at the same time as everything gets dark.
Several hours later, she wakes up to find she is alone in her cell, and a couple officers are standing outside, as she wonders what happened.
"So you decided to pay me a visit. Did the captain get my information?" She says not realizing who is outside the cell. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Jul 26, 2005, 1:18am
Bursting onto the bridge with gusto, an Ensign bee-lined his way to the Captain, nearly barreling over the Counselor in the process.
"Captain, I have an urgent request from Commander Janeway."
Kay's expression turned sour at the mention of her CMO's name. "What is it that she wanted, Ensign?"
The young man pulled the Captain aside and whispered, "She said to tell you, 'Epsilon is counting on you.'"
Kay, who hadn't been paying too close attention before, jerked her head up to stare into the messenger's eyes. "Did she say anything else?"
"Only that it was extremely important that you look at some information in the medical computer stored near the cure for AIDS."
"Number One," Kay said loudly, still staring into the face of the young Ensign, "You have the bridge. I'm going to Sick Bay and then to the brig to speak with our good Doctor."
"Aye, Captain," TEG responded.
In Sick Bay, Kay tapped the medical computer to life and selected the file; it was right where Janeway had said it would be. She skimmed through the preliminary wording then stopped short, reading and re-reading the next bit over and over, trying desperately to grasp it in her mind.
"This can't be true!" she said aloud, giving voice to her disbelief.
The file ended and Kay switched off the monitor. She sat motionless for a while in the Doctor's chair, still unable to fathom what she'd just read. Rising with purpose, she headed out the door and on to the brig.
When she arrived, she found Janeway isolated in one cell and her Cardassian accomplices in another. She could also see the blood oozing from her split lip. Just as Kay was about to call for a medic to arouse Janeway, she slowly sat up and squinted at Kay.
"So, you decided to pay me a visit. Did the Captain get my information?"
"This IS your Captain, Doctor. And I have plenty of questions to ask you." Kay nodded to the security guard and the forcefield separating Kay from Liz dissipated and she stepped into the cell.
"First of all, I'd like to know how you obtained this information and secondly, I want to know exactly who I can trust?" Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Jul 26, 2005, 4:15pm
Having made it to the Computer core control I grabbed a chair and slid into it and let it slid over to the required panels.
"Computer, Access Backup core memory authorization Rhymer Delta 57."
"Access granted" came the crisp reply.
"Computer, Run autorestart and download programs from Backup Computer core memory only. Download all resets for Ship's senior staff access codes and lockouts."
"Program running, All ships systems shutdown with the exception of Life support in 60 seconds." While the computer started shutting down systems for autorestart I informed the Bridge that the procedure for getting back full control of the ship was underway. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Jul 26, 2005, 11:22pm
"Captain you can trust me. I haven't done anything I haven't been ordered to do. Since my neighbors left a little bit ago, we can talk without giving up my cover just yet. Admiral Elron ordered me to try and become part of the people who were responsible for this. I don't know exactly what is going on, but I would like to. I don't really want to go into all the details of how I gained their CO's trust if I don't have to, but I did, and then I said I would work for him in helping him gain a cure to the planets side effects. Is there anything else you would like to know captain? Have you gotten in contact with anyone from the fleet yet? I would like to get back to work. I haven't seen that data you have seen yet, what was it exactly?" She says hoping the captain would relax her guard, so that Liz would know if she had trusted her yet. Liz felt it a step in the right direction when the captain entered her cell unarmed, and without anyone with her. It showed a small amount of trust, and Liz was slightly glad, but she knew there was more to gaining the captain's trust back.
"I see, and that can't be good. Well, what can I do if I can't leave yet? I am no good to anyone locked up. I could work on my push ups I guess, at least I think that is what you humans do when locked up like an animal in a cage." She says sounding a little hurt as she finds she must remain locked up. She doesn't know what she will do, and doesn't know how much of this she can take. It would be easy to break out, and be free. I must remain though. She thinks, and knows that she will be let out eventually even though she doesn't like being locked up.
<oh captain, tag!> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Jul 27, 2005, 3:50pm
Hawk awoke with a start on a cold damp floor, and looked around in a daze. He couldn't tell if he'd been out for seconds, minutes or hours. His previous blood loss made him light headed, he couldn't tell where he was at first. He tried to clear his head and vision, but could only make out vague shapes moving around. This is the third time I have awakened in a strange place and it is getting quite annoying he thought.
Suddenly his senses alerted him to the fact that he was no longer on the Majesty. He wrenched with fear at first with the over whelming sense he was surrounded by a birds worst enemy……A Snake or reptile in this case. Hawk’s instincts were quite strong when he was impaired and he quickly regained control of his emotions. He realized that he was now on a Cardassian ship and in their holding cell.
Hawk sat himself up and leaned against the wall of his cell and as he became more aware of his surroundings he realized that something was wrong with his first believing he was a prisoner of Cardassians. The temperature seemed to cold to be normal for Cardassians but maybe it was just his loss of blood that made him feel cold.
His mind flew through all possible reasons like maybe this was another race that was disguised as Cardassians for some reason. Whatever it was he was sure that they would come for him soon and then maybe he could learn something useful.
Unknown to Hawk at this time there were other crew members being held aboard this ship as well. Each had been isolated from the others for reasons only their captures knew. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on Jul 27, 2005, 6:14pm
Sovas and the 3 Cardassians continued to wind their way around the many corridors. It felt like he had been moving for days. It had in fact been a few hours. Sovas wasn't sure exactly where he was, but he knew it wasn't near the crew quarters. It was the engineering hull, and several doors read "EPS Relay station" or "Matter/Anti-matter regulator station" Sovas had repeatedly asked the Cardassians where they were heading. The Cardassians only told him bits and pieces. Sovas asked again.
Sovas: Excuse me, I have come this far, I believe an explanation of our route is in order.
Cardassian 1: Sigh.... I suppose you are right. We've been holding back the information long enough.
Cardassian 3: I say no.
Cardassian 1: I know what you think, but it's my decision. And we need to act quickly, when last I checked they were planning on rebooting the computer core.
Sovas: How do you know this?
Cardassian 2: We have our ways. It's not important right now. What's important is that we end this now before they have a chance to cause any more damage.
Sovas: There is one thing I feel I must do before we continue. I would like to initiate a mind-meld with you.
Cardassian 3: What?! I don't understand!
Sovas: I must know your sincerity before we continue. If you plan on taking action, then I must be sure that this is not some kind of forgery.
Cardassian 1: Do we really have time for this Sovas?
Sovas: I do not know. What I do know is that I will not be an accessory to treason.
Cardassian 1: Sovas, will you wait here? I would like to discuss this with my colleagues.
Sovas: As you wish, but if you are planning something, you should know that I will sense your thoughts.
The Cardassians nodded their heads and walked to the far end of the corridor. They began to speak in whispers. They were out of audible range for Sovas' sensitive ears to detect.
Cardassian 3: (Whispers) Why are we even thinking of agreeing to this??
Cardassian 2: It is obvious that this is not going the way we would like. Maybe we should just kill him, attempt to gain access ourselves?
Cardassian 1: No, that would be quite impossible. The area is highly secured.... I will proceed with the mind meld.
Cardassian 3: And what if by some chance he is able to sense your deception? What then??
Cardassian 1: He will not. I was in the Obsidian order for many years. My mind is well disciplined from the training. He will not find out. We have nothing to worry about.
Cardassian 3: Still, when he reads your mind and senses nothing, he will become suspicious.
Cardassian 1: If that happens, I will think of something.
Cardassian 3: That's very reassuring.
Cardassian 1: Mind your mouth, or I'll put you on Vole patrol. We've been looking for an exterminator for quite a while. Alright, lets go.
The Cardassians headed back toward Sovas and the leader nodded.
Cardassian 1: Alright Sovas, proceed as you desire.
Sovas nodded and walked up close to the Cardassian, and placed his hand on his cheek.
Sovas: My mind to your mind......My thoughts to your thoughts....My mind to your mind...My thoughts to your thoughts.
Within a few minutes, Sovas and the Cardassian went into a silent trance. The other Cardassians looked on, worried. After several more minutes, Sovas gently removed his hand from the Cardassian's cheek and stepped back.
Sovas: .....Nothing.
Cardassian 1: What do you mean, nothing? I was able to read your thoughts clearly.
Sovas: I saw nothing. Just blurry images and slurred incoherent voices. What exactly is going on...? How were you able to fool me?
Cardassian 1: Fool...Fool you? What do you mean?
Cardassian 3: Surely our desire to let you know the truth is genuine...and yet still you need more evidence? What else can we do to prove ourselves??
Sovas: The mind meld revealed nothing. I have no way of knowing whether you are indeed telling me the truth or not.
Cardassian 1: I have a theory, Sovas...If you will let me talk, I can try to explain.
Sovas: I shall entertain your suggestion.
Cardassian 1: The nerve gas that the Maquis used, We found that it was indeed Starfleet, called Benzin-C.
Sovas: Yes, I know of it. T'Rok has explained the nerve compounds to me a few times.
Cardassian 1: It contains a compound that inhibits...ahem... I apologize, I don't exactly remember the wording... Something about neural inhibition... I'm not sure, the effect of the gas lingers in the brain... Could this perhaps be the cause?
Sovas: I do not know...
Cardassian 1: Sovas, please, we must hurry. They are going to reboot the computer core any moment. There is no time for arguments. Please.
Sovas: ...I somehow managed to feel your pain... It was quite vivid...
Cardassian 1: Oh... A Maquis managed to graze my shoulder with a phaser blast. Luckily there was no permanent damage.
Cardassian 3: Glinn! His bleeding is worsening.
Both Cardassians walked over to Cardassian 2. He appeared weak and fatigued, leaning on a railing.
Cardassian 1: He will die soon if he doesn't get proper medical attention.
Sovas: .....I will go with you... But I will not let my guard down...Now, where are we headed?
Cardassian 1: We are heading for the warp nacelle. We plan on disrupting the plasma flow. That way the nacelle will be inoperable and warp speed will not be possible... Once we do that, we will have to find a medical kit somewhere to attend to my colleague.

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Jul 30, 2005, 1:12pm
TEG sat nervously on the bridge, unable to do much while waiting for Rhymer to finish the reboot of the computer core. Rhymer signaled that he was starting. As he did, most of the screens on the bridge went blank, and the lights flickered. Several seconds later, the screens returned, each showing the computer core doing it Power On Self Test. Once the POST was over, the familar LCARS interface returned, and indicated that data was being transfered from the backup core. After a few minutes, the lights returned to normal, and the screens all went to their own LCARS interface, designed for the location. Rhymer signaled that the restart was a success, and TEG notified Kay. She seemed happy that they could now contact the fleet, and S47, hopefully finding out what is really going on.
Internal sensors slowly came back on line and Falco and Aarons worked to find the last of the Cardassians. The found several groups, and secured them behind force fields. One of the groups also had a Vulcan with them. Aarons also reported that he had found T'Rok, and directed a few engineers and security officers to cut him out from the waste extraction system.
Aarons turned as pale as one could, and reported that the Cardassians with Sovas had escaped, and were headed to cargo bay 6. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Jul 31, 2005, 12:37pm
Watching the great ship come back to life with the Auto restart and POST routines restoring the computers back to our control was both a great feeling of accomplishment and a great feeling of relief that everything had gone well with the restart and that our Cardassian Shadow had not made any move to attack us while we were defenseless.
"Bridge, this is Commander Rhymer, We have full control over the computer at this time."
"Well done, Mr. Rhymer." TEG replied with a genuine smile on his lips. "Is there anything we can help you with now Commander?" TEG asked showing his appreciation for the efforts and hard work of everyone involved.
"Actually there is something that you could do for me Sir, Get those Cardassians out of my Engine room."
<TEG> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Aug 2, 2005, 5:44pm
Mean while in the Cardassian brig where Hawk had regained consciousness. A chorus of low moans escaped from the cells as he became aware of the pain and discomfort of others, caused both by the neural toxin and the unkind surroundings, not to mention the Cardassians. The brig was cold and wet, and Hawk had already acquired an unhealthy sounding cough. There were no bunks, nor were there any seats or blankets. Just square cells carved from what seemed like solid rock. The only place to sit or lie was the hard, cold and unfortunately damp floor. Hawk believed he had been separated from others of the crew that were some where close by.
In another location
"Alright, suggestions everyone?" Lieutenant Jackson growled half-heartedly as he massaged his temples. He had a terrible headache and was not in a mood to take over command. Where the hell was McCormick? She was supposed to handle this situation. Jackson kicked himself for the hundredth time. Why had he not come up with some excuse for Starfleet Command, in order to avoid being sent on this godforsaken mission? But unfortunately he had already done that too often in the past and Starfleet Command was beginning to become suspicious of his constant excuses. That was why he had not even tried to get out of this one. Bad choice! Why could they not just find him a nice quiet desk job somewhere? That was all he really wanted to do, work during the day and go home at night to spend some time with his wife and kids, not gallivanting around the galaxy, one suicidal mission after the other, in an attempt to make the world a better place or to collect obscure scientific data from some remote part of space. He just wanted to lead a normal life.
His adoptive parents had forced him into this stupid career and in an attempt to make them proud, he had fulfilled their wish, not even once voicing his objections. Both of them had passed away years ago, and he seriously questioned whether this had been worth all the trouble. Maybe he should ask for early retirement, or change his career path. If only they would give him that desk job.
"It appears that we have been transported to a subterranean structure of some sort and are now being held hostage by those Cardassians." Tu’Mas stated. Jackson despised the half Klingon/Vulcan assistant chief of security, constantly efficient, perpetually stating the obvious and never showing any emotions whatsoever. It just was not natural. He was supposed to be a Klingon/Vulcan, not a robot.
Tu’Mas seemed to be the only one who was not suffering from a headache or the cold; although Jackson was sure the Klingon/Vulcan had to suffer from the damp chilling environment more than any other crewmember, since both his home world’s had an extremely dry and hot climate. Yet he seemed as calm and controlled as ever. So he was half Klingon and Vulcan, but could he not at least show a few signs of discomfort or fear? Everyone else did!
A little hesitant, young Ensign Richards asked with a slightest hint of a tremble in his voice, "Ok, so what do we do now?" This was just his luck, his first deep space mission, and he gets to be a hostage of some totally evil alien group. They were probably going to torture and, quite possibly, kill him. In his wildest dreams he had never imagined his first mission to have this outcome. He had been looking forward to it so much. Being assigned to the Majesty, Starfleet and Section 47's finest jewel in the crown, had been a great honor, especially for an ensign fresh out of the Academy. His parents had been so proud of him, when he had told them about his commission. Now they were hostages of the Cardassians and did not even know what to expect next, they did not even know where they were being held.
"I suggest we wait to see what the Cardassians have planned for us. There is no apparent way of escape from this cell. The force field is extremely powerful, and the walls are solid rock. We must simply wait and see how this situation develops. In the meantime, I suggest we observe the enemy." Tu’Mas suggested. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Aug 2, 2005, 5:59pm
“Well, Ms. Janeway,” Kay spoke in hushed tones in case the adjoining cell occupants had enhanced hearing. “The file you had me look at did explain some things… but certainly not all. It did tell me why you were chosen to work with Section 31 – your ties to the Cardassian Captain Sumar made you the perfect choice.”
Liz looked up, surprised. “I didn’t think anyone was aware of that but me.”
“There are times in which Starfleet’s ethics are questionable… and this seems to be one of those times.” Kay said uneasily.
“I wasn’t even in Starfleet when I met Sumar and we…” Janeway’s voice trailed away, not wanting to reveal the details of her tryst.
Kay stared at the young woman hard and long. Eventually, it made Liz feel uncomfortable.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
“I’m trying to ascertain how much I can trust you.” Kay leaned back, folded her arms across her chest and sighed, still staring into Liz’s face. “For Section 31 and Admiral Elron to trust you… there has to be something trustworthy about you. Unless…,” she paused and bit her lower lip. “…unless you’re being used as a pawn in whatever game this is.”
Janeway met Kay’s stare with boldness. “I can tell you from now until Remus turns on its axis that I’m first and foremost a Starfleet Officer… and in the end, it will still be up to you to decide whether I’m being true or not.”
It was then Kay finally decided. Whether or not Janeway was being honest, she would proceed as if she believed her.
“Alright, Doctor, I’m going to let you out of here. When you think it’s safe, I want you to tell your buddies next door that you’ve somehow convinced me that you aren’t a part of their scheme. Continue to work on the antidote for the Tysanide gas; since they are extremely susceptible to the moon’s low levels of it, working on it will ensure their confidence in you.”
“Captain?” Liz questioned. “What else was in that file? I didn’t have time to read it yet.”
The lights in the brig flickered as the rebooting of the computer system took place. The security guard automatically reached for his weapon but the forcefields on the occupied cells were unaffected by the power loss.
“Thank goodness for Commander Rhymer,” Kay murmured. She explained to Janeway during the blackout what was happening and that she would finally have her ship back. Confiding in Liz would no doubt strengthen the Doctor’s belief that she had regained her confidence in her. However, she didn’t answer Janeway’s question. Cornette knew that now, with the Majesty back under her control, she would eventually be able to cut through the Cardassians’ jamming beacon and contact Admiral Elron himself. And, unbeknownst to Janeway, if Liz had told the truth about not seeing the file, there was an attached file for the Captain’s eyes only. Regaining the ship meant regaining her access codes. Kay wanted time to read the file before saying anything more to Liz.
The lights returned and Kay signaled the guard to lower the forcefield. She informed him that new information had been given her and Janeway was to be released. The two women walked out of the brig together and on to the nearest turbolift.
“You go ahead to sickbay. I need to return to the bridge,” Kay said and Liz nodded. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Aug 3, 2005, 10:46pm
"Okay captain, and thanks. It feels good to be trusted again. I mean it really means a lot to me to have your trust." She says before exiting the turbo lift at her stop smiling back at the captain as the doors close, and then she continues on to sickbay. Lucky for her there was nobody there. She goes into her office to continue her research, and sits down at her desk for more research forgetting about the file from earlier. She starts to look up Cardassian physiology. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Aug 4, 2005, 3:23pm
Sarlina looked around to see if anyone needed a little support. Seeing no one, she slipped back into the shadows. Sarlina wondered if Janeway would be released soon. If she wasn’t, Sarlina might temporarily take the role of doctor, again. As the captain walked back onto the bridge, Sarlina took it that Janeway hadn’t tried to kill Captain Cornette. What was the message that Janeway had originally told the captain? Next to the cure for AIDS Sarlina made a mental note of that. She had a feeling that it would be important. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Aug 8, 2005, 5:54pm
TEG led a security team to engineering, where the final reminisce of Cardassians were. He sent half of the team to the second level, while he and five security officers waited with phaser riffles for the other team to get into position. He got a signal that they were ready. He gave the order, and the doors were blown, phaser pulses shot across engineering and within a few seconds, the Cardassians were neutralized. TEG took out his tricorder and scanned the Cardassians. He was shocked by what he saw, and his skin went all pale. He tapped his commbadge and called for Captain Cornette. Once she responded he shared his news.
"Captain, we neutralized the threat in Engineering. But..."
"What is it Number One?"
"They aren't Cardassians."
"Who or what are they then?"
"Breen." Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Michael Aarons on Aug 10, 2005, 4:55pm
Kay: "WHAT!!?" the captain interjected. TEG: "You heard me, they're Breen, Captain." Kay's thoughts: 'Then what was all that B.S. about the Alliance and its restrengthening?' Kay: "Put them in a cell...and don't turn your backs to them." Kay began to feel like one of those headaches again as she slumped into her chair. Why couldn't it have just been one enemy? Why couldn't they just stay Cardassians? Of course the Breen and Cardassians allied in the Dominion War but then the whole incognitance business although nobody's ever really seen a Breen unmasked. Now that the E.W.R.* systems' Hudec O.S. (op. syst.) was back on-line, communications was again possible. Kay: "Someone open a channel to Bellicose." Not noting who was at the station for the moment. Whomever: "Captain, at this location and our current situation, we cannot achieve live feed." What Kay thought and what she said were completely opposing. "Fine. Get it... I mean, Git-R-Dun!" (she had a thing for fat guys w/o sleeves!) Kay: "Number One report in." TEG: "We're getting the prisoners taken away ma'am but-" Kay: "Begin organizing an away team to finally get down to that moon." TEG: "Aye aye Captain." Aarons: "Should I report for the away mission Captain?" Kay: "No Michael, we may need to deal with that hostile vessel out there shadowing us." He swung around eagerly smiling. Aarons: "Do I get blow something up sir!?" Kay: "Well maybe, you've been a good boy lately, although your posting has gone down recently." Aarons: "Sorry Captain." Kay: "I suppose so. Keep on the alert for any activity." Aarons: "Yes sir!" Kaylana enters her office. >Tag Kay< *Can anyone guess the meaning of E.W.R.? Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Aug 10, 2005, 11:52pm
Kay sighed heavily as she left the bridge for her ready room. “We’ll strap a note onto the back of a Serellian Spaceworm if we have to but I want a message sent out to Bellicose.”
“Aye, sir,” came the response from whomever. “Ready to record at your discretion.”
Kay spoke a bit more authoritatively now that she was alone with her recording. “To Admiral Clark, Starbase Bellicose from Acting Captain Kaylana Cornette; arrived at Tysan only to be boarded by hostiles. Cardassian intruders, including one by the name of Sumar, took over the Majesty but we have since regained control. A handful of Cardassians escaped via a shuttle and have several hostages with them, one of which is my Chief of Operations, Commander Hawk. We think they may have taken the hostages to the cloaked Cardassian vessel we’ve discovered in the Zenaxia system. The remaining intruders have been rounded up in Engineering but with an interesting discovery – they aren’t Cardassians but Breen. My First Officer has not briefed me in full as of yet, but I can only surmise they’d been using some type of holo-camouflage to appear as Cardassian. Intentions of said Breen, unknown. They are presently being held in our brig and I intend to have them questioned. I will be sending an armed away team to the Outpost to determine the scientist’s status and if the project has been compromised.”
Kay shifted uncomfortably in her seat before continuing. “It has also come to my attention that one of my officer’s, Commander Janeway, has been working undercover. As soon as you receive this, I want to know exactly what her orders are and her security clearance level. Cornette, out.” Kay snapped off the recording, hoping she’d ended her conversation with a demand. She was usually very cordial with Jack Clark but his placing her in the dark like this got her dander up. And she was determined not to share anything important with Janeway until she was certain of her clearance.
=^= “Bridge, this is the Captain. Send message when ready, whomever.”=^=
The door chime sounded and Kay acknowledged it with a simple, “Come.”
The new Counselor walked into the room a tad shyly. “Captain, I was wondering if I could help out in sickbay. During my training mission I assisted the Doctor and with ours in the brig…”
“She’s been released,” Kay interrupted.
“Oh… well, then…” Sarlina stammered.
“I do have an assignment for you, Counselor.”
“Anything to help, Captain,” Vise answered eagerly.
“I want you to get close to Commander Janeway – befriend her, eat with her, gain her trust, if you can. I need to know as much as I can about her. If you find anything out of the ordinary, report it to me immediately. Can you do that for me, Counselor?” Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Aug 11, 2005, 12:04am
OOC: *EWR How about Early Warning Report? heheh;) I have NO idea, Michael. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Aug 11, 2005, 10:49am
Janeway was released? Why? Especially when the Captain wants some one to get as much information as possible without appearing threatening. Janeway must have some information or something for which she was able to bribe Captain Cornette. Sarlina supposed it would be best to accept this assignment and see if she could answer some of these questions herself so she said a simple “Yes Captain” and left the room.
Sarlina walked down to sickbay. Since Janeway didn't seem to be doing Surgery right now, Sarlina hoped this wasn't too bad a time.
"Want to have lunch at somepoint." asked Sarlina. "I'm new to the ship, so I want to get to know some people better." <Janeway> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Aug 11, 2005, 1:00pm
Liz finds she has been joined in sickbay by a new person. Looking up she finds someone who hasn't had their physical as of yet. She wonders if she should do that now as a bit of a welcome while showing her humor. She decides not to as she doesn't want to make this new person mad. What was said to her finally registers.
"Lunch, uh, sure. We can go for lunch if you want, or eat it here. That would be up to you. Is there some reason you have choosen me over the rest of the crew right now?" She says a little curious as to why she would want to 'make friends' as the humans phrased it.
<tag Sarlina>
OOC: By the way Sarlina, we have simmed together before. I also play the character Joan McCormick. Just thought I would let you know what you are getting into. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Aug 11, 2005, 6:20pm
“Let’s have lunch here.” Said Sarlina. She thought about the answer to Janeway’s last question. There was the fact that Sarlina might end up working in sickbay for a bit. Also, in sickbay there wasn’t a lot of interaction with the crew. If they tried to go to ops they would feel out of place. Sarlina remembered how out of place she had felt at the Aerowing when she had delivered the news that they had to have the Aerowing fixed in half the time. She had offered to help but instead they ignored her and the news she had carried. Those were two reasons.
“As for why I chose you, we’ll probably work together at some point, plus you can start feeling lonely in sickbay when there’s only you and your patients here, and your patients are usually unconscious.” Sarlina hoped that this would be enough for Janeway to start trusting her. If the first couple of times they tried to get together didn’t work things might start getting harder. But right now first impressions were important. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Aug 11, 2005, 11:36pm
Realizing what she said is true, she realizes she doesn't miss the companions she had earlier, and wonders why she feels so good alone. She ignores that for now, and thinks it good to have at least one friend other than the captain right now. She knew she was in hot water lately, and wondered how long before she was put in the brig again.
"We can order anything from the replicator here in my office. Tell me a bit about yourself." She says as they both head over to the replicator. Before the other woman begins, Liz orders an old Klingon dish, and heads back to her desk waiting for the other woman to join her. She isn't waiting long, and wonders what she had ordered, but doesn't ask.

OOC: E.W.R. Could it be External Warp Relay? Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Aug 13, 2005, 6:01pm
Sarlina ordered a piece of steak, well done, a bread roll and some mint tea. She sat down next to Janeway. “My favorite color is blue.” She began. Sarlina remembered what Captain Cornette had said. befriend her, eat with her, gain her trust, if you can. I need to know as much as I can about her. If you find anything out of the ordinary, report it to me immediately. Sarlina felt sort of bad. If it hadn’t been for the Captain’s assignment she might not be sitting here today. Sarlina hoped that the assignment would eventually turn out to be more of a cover for becoming friends then the other way around. Eventually. Right now she would start with a single brick, and from it make a foundation. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Aug 16, 2005, 2:01am
TEG waited in the Brig for Kay. The Breen were sitting on benches mumbling in their strange language, their translators removed. Kay came in, and began to look them all over.
"Is it holography, or cosmetic surgery?" Asked Kaylana.
"Surgery, we think. Still not entirely sure though, as because Breen have no blood, it is hard to get accurate readings on them. But they have minor power signatures, so it doesn't look like holography. Aarons was able to call up the linguistic database, and tie it to the universal translator. Hopefully, after a few more minutes we should be able to speak with them." Responded TEG.
<Kaaaay> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Aug 17, 2005, 1:43am
Waiting for word that the translator was ready, Kay observed the prisoners. No one had ever seen a Breen unmasked. If this truly was the work of surgery, they had advanced far beyond any intelligence information Starfleet had in their databases. Just how they were able to survive without their omnipresent head gear was anyone’s guess. It had been long thought that the helmet was essential to the Breen’s survival in a warm climate. Little was known about the species and their home world.
Aarons’ voice piped in after the comm. signal, “Captain, you should be able to get a few paragraphs out of them now.” No small feat since very little was known about the Breen’s electronically-coded language.
Kay thanked him and moved closer to the holding cell. Five individuals stood in the small room. Their posture seemed unaccustomed to sitting – or perhaps they stood to reflect their rebellion at being captured.
“I’m the Captain of this vessel. What was your intent in boarding us?” Kay waited a few moments as the Breen shot looks at each other, apparently surprised they understood her. However, none of them uttered so much as a bleep.
“As I thought, this is futile,” Kay said. “They aren’t going to talk and they know Starfleet regulations won’t allow torture.”
“Pity,” TEG added playfully, knowing full-well the translator was still working.
“It is true, Number One… Starfleet doesn’t torture their prisoners… but there’s nothing in the regulations that says we can’t turn up the heat a little… and I do mean that literally.”
TEG raised a brow slightly, “Ahhh, yes, Captain, I’ll see about altering the environmental controls in here. Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit chilly in here.”
“Perhaps they’re still frozen. We’ll see in a few hours from now whether or not they might be more willing to loosen their tongues,” Kay said with a crooked smile. “Join me on the bridge, Number One?”
“I’d be delighted, sir.”
Once they were clear of the brig, Kay told TEG she wanted him to form an away team immediately. They both walked briskly to the nearest turbo lift.
“I can’t help but think that all our answers are down there.” Kay paused pensively. “I know that if I just get a chance to talk to Horace we’ll know how better to approach…”
“You know Dr. Schmidt?” TEG interrupted.
Kay’s face flushed slightly. “Yes… we were… good friends at one time… very close.” She mentally drifted, remembering another lifetime ago. “Anyway, I know he’ll tell me what’s going on.”
The lift stopped and both entered the bridge. TEG went directly to his task of finding personnel for the away team and Kay found Aarons who was minding the Ops station. She first inquired about the Cardassian ship and Aarons told her that they were behaving themselves for the time being.
“Any word on Commander Hawk and the others?” Kay questioned.
“Sorry, sir, no.”
Kay shook her head slightly and breathed a sigh. She was torn. A huge part of her wanted to storm the Cardassian ship and free her people, but another part of her knew that she shouldn’t until she had more information… and, perhaps, a bargaining chip. She could only think that she might find what she needed on Tysan.
“Michael, use whatever power necessary to scan the Outpost. I want details – lots of them. If there’s a gorch on a Klingon’s arse, I want to know about it. I’m not sending a party down there only to be ambushed.”
“Yes, sir,” the helm officer replied, happy to be busy.

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Aug 17, 2005, 5:52am
OOC: This post starts right after Computer restoration and before TEG's valiant assault of the Fortified Breen defenses.
IC: After asking TEG to get the Cardassians out of my Engine Room I turned and moved back to the Bridge Engineering console.
"Captain, I would like permission to encryot and lockout the Main Computer such that it can only be accessed from this station here. That way if anyone tried to lock us out again they have to do it right here in the middle of us all."
I asked Kay as I looked into her eyes from across the Bridge.
"Thats a good idea, Do It." Kay replied with a small smile.
"Yes Ma'am" I replied as set about encrypting the Computer core controls and after a couple minutes of working was happy to see my encryption come online.
"Alright Kay, I need you to confirm this to the Computer after I give it my access code and command." Waiting for Kay's acknowledgement I turned to the Computer console and said aloud.
"Computer, recognize Commander 1st Class Rhymer, Chief Engineer Authorization code Delta Five Seven. Initiate Computer core access lockdown from all positions except the Bridge."
"Authorization confirmed for Cheif Engineer Rhymer. Captains Authorization required." replied the Computer.
After Kay gave the Computer her authorization code and confirmation the Computer locked down access to the Computer core controls from every place but the Bridge.
"Alright Captain, we have full control of the Computer core control. I recommend we stay this way until we know who locked us out in the first place."
OOC: Fast Forward to After TEG's Grand Victory and the fall of the Breen Fortress.
After TEG made his report to Kay about the Breen he informed me that the Engine Room was all mine again.
"captain, if you need me I will be in main Engineering."
"Very Well." Kay replied.
Entering Engineering I was appalled at the damage that had been wrought on the consoles by the Breen in their attempts to retain control of the computers with no success.
"Captain, I have major damage to the control consoles down here it is going to take me several hours to get them repaired/replaced." I informed Kay

OFF: Okay, 'E.W.R.' means: Eugene Wesley Roddenberry, the name of the Great Bird himself. Also the Hudec operating system which E.W.R. Systems has designed is a buried reference to M. Leigh Hudec, the psuedonym of Mrs. Roddenberry in "The Cage". And Kay, your recent allusions and trekkie refences as of late have been very welcomed and appreciated. Now on to the post as the real boot-licking comes later on in it.
ON: Tysan, a rock uncompromising and obstinate in nature, lulled there afore the regal Majesty, the focus of nothing but strife for 3 yrs. now. Most scans, along the lines for Starfleet, were ineffective; the perfect mask for the unlawful and/or immoral (of course the unlawful are immoral the majority of times). Michael had the auspicious task of challenging the moon of Tysan to make for a safe success below. He wasn't a scientist, nor was this - the Ops station- his seat. He knew how to drive and, as it seemed, engage in battle. This was going to be tough. Michael: "Okay, bio-signs respond scattered, atmospheric scans are clutter at best, and as for technological reports sticks and rock clubs might as well be duotronic transtators for what good it does." He sat back ready to ponder and study scenario before him. Trying to associate relationships to everything from anything else and each other to work with what's got or hasn't been tried yet. "Computer show me the known conditions on the body below." What was supposed to be built on the surface was brought up and display as a 3D model. "Give me dimensional layouts for any and all levels plus cross-sectional reference." Three distinct floors were given as well indications of a fourth sub-floor as a basement on the cross-section. Any further structuring was unavailable for processing. "Computer, could the annular confinement beam be used to lock on and analyze the various parts the area and report its signatures back to us to sort out this ambiguity?" Computer: "The annular confinement beam is not fitted for such applications-" Aarons: "Query theoretical, can it be modified?" Computer: "Indications affirmative," he'd have to remember that, "Supplemental: less than 100% of area is capable of beaming, either by interference or inhibitive of transport, confinement beam would ineffective for complete scrutiny of the complex in question." He didn't think the computer even knew the word 'scrutiny.' Aarons: "Rescan bio-signatures for third level only." The scans came in. "Overlay with layout, hold, then repeat for the second floor." The floors got progressively small going up, except for the "basement" which was between the second and thirds size, so the top floor shouldn't cloud the scan of the one below. The third constituted some four rooms, the second eight, and ground floor twelve with two small structures, east and west, veined out by external walkways (likely a front door to the west and who-knows-what to the east). "Make final scans for the remaining floor levels within the area of the main structure accounting for propagation in signal return to discern distance and determine which level it originates from." The task was carried out and now there were categorized skewed bio-readouts to mull over. But there was still much to be desired in clarity of the feedback. Aarons: "Computer, is there any way to enhance the quality of the scans?" Computer: "Affirmative, through the projection of the deflector, sensors may be fortified and the tenebrous results attenuated for improved processing." With that, he moved the ship till it was pointing right at the moon itself. This gave much better results now than before. Aarons: "Okay computer, using the known layouts and construction, eliminate all bio-sign accounts which defy occupiable space and reanalyze." The information filtered and a more concise indication came up. "Cross reference manifests of all resources plus personnel consigned to the facility to date and create a reference for discerning any foreign or intrusive objects theorizing only for the most probable possibilities and reevaluate. Also theorize based on spectral, thermal (level), energy, and physiological indicators what possible species are generating them and their identities." Computer: "Theory inaccurate to 40% error." He dismissed it. Aarons: "Modify photo-sonar with X-rays and survey the area accounting for distance, geography, structure, and elevations then give me a comparison readout." While that happened, he had to call Rhymer about finding the most qualified person to make some changes to the annular confinement beam. >Tag whoever.< P.S. Kay is great, Kay is good. We love her so, her humble brood! Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Aug 21, 2005, 2:35pm
Lt. Falco entered the bridge just in time to assist Commander Aarons at Ops.
A reply came from the chief engineer that most of his people had their hands full but he would put the annular confinement beam on his priority list.
Over hearing, Falco informed Aarons that ACB was one of his pet projects while he was in the Academy.
“I will do whatever I can if it brings us closer to getting Ha… I mean our people back safely.” Falco said with a lump in his throat.
“You really miss him don’t you son?” inquired Aarons.
“Yes Sir I do and I would gladly trade places with him if I could.” Falco stated.
“I am sure the Captain will see to it that all are returned safe and sound, besides I kind of miss him myself.” Michael said in a comforting voice.
Falco believed that with some help from Commander Greenwood they could reroute the primary energizing coils through the main navigational deflector dish and making use of the sensor windows, they could narrow the beam enough to perform a pin point transport to the surface with shields up. It would also increase the accuracy of the sensor scans. The increase in power through the array would help displace the factors accounting for distance, density of the atmospheric conditions and solidity of the planets surface.
“I have calculated that with these modifications in place we should have a 94.78% chance of success.” Falco stated.
“Well Lieutenant it seems you have a small working knowledge of the situation.” Michael said with a grin, “I will inform engineering.”
“So Nik are you up to performing surgery on the defector dish?” Aarons said in jest.
“I am a Science Officer not a Surgeon or an Engineer for that matter but I would be glad to assist you Lieutenant if I can be of help.” Nik replied.
They both head off to main engineering.
Mean while on the Cardassian/Breen ship.
In another part of the ship, a short distance away from the other crew member’s cell, Hawk sat like he had been in his cramped cell, on the balls of his bare feet on the damp cold cell floor, with his knees tucked into his chest and his head perched on them. His palms placed flat on the floor, which helped him to keep his balance in his weakened condition. He was getting more ill at each passing minute and he would soon fall unconscious from lack of proper nutrients. His eyes were red and swollen from lack of sleep, which was impossible considering the harsh climate of his gilded cage. He began to shake all over.
Hawk was unable to focus and began drifting in and out of consciousness as he fought to maintain his upright position. His mind began displaying images of his home world at first then shifted to images of a time when he first came aboard the Majesty. Vivid memory’s of his first encounter with Captain Kruse and FO Commander 1st Class Cornette. He had spawned a strong friendship with Kaylana before his transfer to the Academy and her kind, strong and reassuring face burned bright in his unconscious mind. He saw himself fly high above a mountain top, then suddenly plunging toward the rocks he gave out a screech that would have awoke the dead.
At that very moment it time back on the Majesty during a brief period where Kaylana did get some sleep, she was jolted from slumber by the screech of a hawk. So real was it that her first instinct was to call security to her quarters which she soon cancelled after realizing it was only a dream…or was it?
Now the focus turns to the bridge of the Cardassian ship.
“Sir the life sign of the Falconian is growing extremely weak,” reported Cardassian #1.
“Very well then, have him brought to the shuttle-bay and give him this supplement which should keep him barely alive. The Ferengi ship should be here soon and then we can get what we came for,” Proclaimed the Cardassian/Breen leader with a devilish laughter, "Expand or Die!"
“Sir what about the bio-chemical refrigerant injections for all the men, needed to maintain our disguise?” asked Cardassian #2.
“Yes, indeed; see to it!” their leader commanded, “I will be glad when we are rid of this masquerade and can return to our normal bodies.”
When we have traded this pathetic Falconian to the Ferengi for a consignment of Oppennium-46, then we will have ultimate power in this quadrant. No one will ever know that we hi-jacked this ship and played out the original Cardassian mission and made it look like we failed. All blame will be directed towards them just long enough to give us the time we need to escape, he thought to himself as he stroked his chin.
“Guards get rid of the remaining Cardassian bodies and prepare our guests for transport back to their ship. Communications hail the earth ship; we have a hostage exchange to negotiate and then we can be gone from this place,” the Cardassian/Breen leader said laughing louder and louder. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on Aug 22, 2005, 12:34am
Finally, the roles had been switched. Sovas was no longer being leaded. Instead, he had become the leader, and was making his way to the port warp nacelle control room. Sovas, who had gotten to know the Cardassians, had not exactly sympathized with their cause, but rather wanted a bloodless ending to it all. After all, disabling the warp nacelles, which would inevitably become a nightmare for the engineers, would not result in casualties. The Cardassians trailed Sovas by a few meters. Sovas was unsure of why they kept their distance. Perhaps it was sympathy for their injured comrade who had difficulty walking. Although Sovas could not read the mind of the Cardassian leader, and presumed it was a side effect of the nerve gas, he still nonetheless remained hesitant about the Cardassian men. As soon as Sovas could sense a deception, no matter how minor, he would place the Cardassians under arrest.
After crawling through countless access tunnels, the 4 men finally reached the nacelle.
Sovas: I am afraid we will have to take the more difficult route. Going in through the front door would attract too much attention. Therefore, we will gain access to the control room through this tunnel.
Cardassian #1: It is a tight squeeze...
Cardassian #3: What about our colleague? He is too weak to go any further.
The 1st Cardassian stood still as he thought the situation over carefully.
Cardassian #1: ...We will not be gone for too long. He will make it.
Cardassian #3: If you say so...
Cardassian #2: Good luck to you both. Thank you again for your help, Sovas.
Sovas and the other two Cardassians entered the small tunnel and slowly eked their way through it. Sovas rarely had to enter these tunnels, but it reminded him of his childhood when he and his friends would play in the sand tunnels just outside his home village, on Vulcan. Only it wasn't as warm and and baby Sehlats did not roam around. Eventually, Sovas and the two others approached the end of the tunnel and were prepared to enter the nacelle room. Sovas stopped the other two Cardassians when they were about to enter, because he could hear noises from inside.
Sovas: (Whispering) Wait just a moment. There is one...no two officers still inside. I believe their shift ends soon. We will enter at that time.
The three waited in the tunnel for a little while, until the two officers departed the room.
Cardassian #3: Now is our chance!
Sovas: Agreed.
Sovas opened the tunnel door and crawled out of the tunnel. It felt good to stand once again. The other Cardassians seemed to be in agreement.
Cardassian #1: Quickly, we must act before the next shift begins. We should work quickly.
Sovas: I will be the one who performs the procedure.
Cardassian #1: As you wish.
Sovas got under the console and opened it, revealing the insides of it. Sovas took out an engineering tool and began to use it on the console. After a few minutes, Sovas realized that he could not gain access to the systems.
Cardassian #1: What's wrong Sovas? Why doesn't it give you access?
Sovas: I do not know. It appears that all internal computers have been rebooted and are now locked out. I am afraid it may be impossible to perform this task.
The two Cardassians looked at each other in shock and disappointment. It appeared as if their plans had been shattered to pieces. Sovas got up from where he was sitting.
Sovas: We should head back now. Soon the next shift will begin and we are out of time.
Cardassian #3: Perhaps we will have better luck.
Sovas: I do not believe so. It would be a futile effort.
Sovas began to head back toward the tunnel. He looked up at the Cardassians, who did not follow him.
Sovas: Come quickly. There is no time to waste.
The Cardassians still would not budge. Sovas approached them slowly.
Sovas: Gentlemen, you are being irrational. I suggest-
As Sovas spoke, one of the Cardassians bodies appeared to flicker. Sovas stopped speaking and was confused by what he saw. The Cardassian soon flickered again, this time for longer. For a moment, it had appeared that the Cardassian had phased or morphed into something else.
Sovas: What is going on here?
The Cardassian flickered again and this time Sovas could make out the figure. To his awe, he appeared to be of another species. Breen. Sovas reached for his holster but realized that he did not have his phaser. Sovas began to run out of the room, intending to alert someone, but was quickly stunned into unconsciousness by one of the two men. The "Cardassians" looked at each other and nodded. They picked up Sovas and dragged him near to the console.
"Cardassian #3": Unfortunate. The holographic emitters must be low on energy.
"Cardassian #1": Nevertheless, we still have a mission to complete.
"Cardassian #3": Agreed. And our colleague also requires our assistance.
"Cardassian #1": We will attend to him. I was hoping we could do this in a manner which would not attract attention, but we have little choice.
The "Cardassian" took out his weapon and aimed it into the large nacelle housing chamber.
"Cardassian #1": Be cautious, if you were off by a few inches-
"Cardassian #3": I am aware of the consequences, I do not intend to destroy this ship while we're on it.
The "Cardassian" fired a single blast into the chamber. The room flashed as several things exploded in the control room. The nacelles soon turned from crimson red to darkness.
"Cardassian #1": The nacelles appear to be neutralized now. Contact the ship, and do make sure that our colleague is beamed out as well. Hand Sovas the weapon. We can't risk exposure.
"The Cardassian" placed the weapon in Sovas' hand. Soon enough, the two were beamed out of the Majesty, along with their fellow Breen who was still lying in the tunnel, wounded. Sovas was left alone in the room... Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Aug 23, 2005, 4:01pm
Sarlina decided it would probably be best to talk a little about herself rather than pressing Janeway for answers. Maybe after she had talked for a while Janeway would start talking about herself and they would realize how much they had in common. Sarlina hoped she would eventually learn what it was that Janeway was concealing. But the best way to do that was to gain her trust. And it would be awhile before she could gain trust.
“I have an older sister.” Said Sarlina. “She was joined when I was 10. She was the main reason I decided to be a counselor.” Sarlina hoped she wasn’t being too formal. She wanted to form a friendship. Sarlina hoped that this would work. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Aug 24, 2005, 9:31pm
"That must be fun having a sister. I don't have any siblings. My father died when I was only six, and my mom wasn't around much. What is your sister like? What position does she hold? I'm sorry I don't mean to sound like I'm prying. I just like to get to know new crew members. You can ask me anything, I don't mind. You should be getting to know me as well. So, what do you want to know?" She says trying to relax around the girl. She wonders why she is really here, and doesn't buy completely into the whole 'wanting to get to know you better' role she is playing. Did the captain send her, Liz thinks wondering what could really be going on. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Aug 27, 2005, 10:18am
“I don’t think you’re prying.” said Sarlina. “My sister was nice. We used to do a lot of things together.” Sarlina paused remembering the many games they had played when they were children. Then Sarlina’s mind returned to Janeway. What did she what to know about Janeway. She had already talked a little about her family. After thinking a bit, Sarlina found a question.
“What was your childhood like?” Sarlina would probably be able to find out more about Janeway with this question. Sarlina hoped it wouldn’t make Janeway uncomfortable Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Aug 27, 2005, 9:31pm
MY CHILDHOOD! Liz does a double take, and shifts nervously in her seat while dropping her fork.
"My childhood? Did I hear correctly?" She says getting serious again. She gulps when that is confimed, but not visible to the counselor. She wonders what she should say, and then decides to lay all of her cards on the table.
"Well, like I said, my father died when I was six. My mom got a really high position, and had to go to her home planet. My grandparents were the ones who raised me. My mother never remarried, and to this day she doesn't even look at the opposite sex. She is still a really big official, and we don't get to see each other. She was around from time to time, and she always remembered to send my gifts when my birthday arrived each year. Was there something specific you wanted to know about my past?" She answers, then poses the question raising one eyebrow. She decides to keep a close eye on the counselor, hoping to find out exactly what she is up to.

So Nik are you up to performing surgery on the defector dish?” Aarons said in jest.
“I am a Science Officer not a Surgeon or an Engineer for that matter but I would be glad to assist you Lieutenant if I can be of help.” Nik replied.
They both head off to main engineering
"But well you know I do remember dissecting a lividian pig once. Though to be honest I didnt care much for it" Nik said noticing the look on Aarons face, as if Nik had just given him a lemon to suck on.
"So how are we gonna do this then?" Aarons asked
"Well I was thinking I stand back, and supervise and well you do all the brainy stuff, my head hurts today" Nik said smiling breaking out into a smirk just as they arrived at engineering.
"Lets try and improve the odds of success to 96% by asking the computer to play nice today, and actually work the way we want."
"Like thats going to happen" they both replied in unisons.
OFF:
Well it isnt much but its a post, and a sign that I am coming back. But am just a little rusty at the moment.

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Sept 1, 2005, 3:55pm
Greenwood and Falco entered the turbo-lift from the bridge.
“Deck 15,” Falco commanded.
“So Lieutenant just what did you need me to do?” Nik asked.
“Well Sir, I need you to go to deck 16 and reconfigure the quad subspace field distortion amplifiers power conduits to these specifications,” Falco said as he handed Greenwood a padd, “Then proceed to deck 12 to the backup deflector control room and reroute it’s control in to the main defector dish computer control. When you have completed that, meet me on deck 18, in aux. navigational defector dish control. I will be aligning and reconfiguring the six high-generating graviton polarity generators to work with transporter control at the relay station on deck 15.”
After looking over the padd, Nik commented “I believe I can handle this but, why did you pick me? It seems that any first year ensign could handle these jobs.”
“True Commander however, I will need your data on the planet below to program the dish computer control.” Falco replied, “And I trust your figures over any others on board, Sir!”
That brought a smile across Nik’s face as he replied, “True very true Falco, I am the best on board with that data.”
“I need the best helping me if we are to bring Hawk home safely,” Falco said with a lump in his throat.
“Don’t you worry about Hawk, he is a tough ole bird and I am sure that the Captain will do whatever is needed to bring the other crew home safe. Besides I kind of miss the ole feather brain myself,” Nik said with a chuckle.
Falco did not believe that the Captain was doing all she could to rescue Hawk and the others. It almost seemed that she no longer cared what happened to Hawk but, rather more about the planet below. Falco felt that he may have to take matters into his own hands if things did not soon change.
“Commander, how can you joke at a time like this? I do not think the Captain is doing everything possible and…”
Falco was interrupted by Nik.
“Look Mister, the Captain has the safety of the lives on all aboard this ship and the crew that was taken prisoner, plus the ships mission to think about. If I had to bet my life, it would be that she will pull it off somehow. She can not afford to put personal feeling before her duty as a Starfleet Officer,” Greenwood stated in a hard tone.
“Sorry Sir, but I did not think about that. Well here is my stop I will meet you later Commander,” Falco said as he left the turbo-lift. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Sept 3, 2005, 4:48pm
The ship was mostly under crew control. And Kay really wanted a landing party to find Dr. Schmidt. TEG hit his panel and tried to organize a landing party. He got a few responces, and informed Kay.
TEG headed to Transporter Room 3, entered the door and saw his landing party.
<TAG anyone who is coming> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Sept 4, 2005, 5:07pm
Supervising the repair of the damage wrought by the Breen while in control of my Engine Room I was having trouble focusing on the tasks at hand due to my being more than just a little angry and really wanting to get some time alone to take out those frustrations on one of the Breen responsible for the mess left behind.
Shaking those thoughts out of my my head I knelt down to help a young Lieutenant working underneath one of the control consoles.
"Thats right Lt. those connections need to be replaced." I was saying as the alarm klaxon went off violently Causing me to slam my head into the bottom of the console while trying to extricate myself from underneath it.
"Report" I yelled at at my Assistant as i moved in his direction.
"Commander we have a Loss of Power to the Port Warp Nacelle, no manual control of it whatsoever. The Computer is also reporting Explosions and fire in the Port Nacelle Control Room."
"Scan for personnel in that area and beam them to sickbay then activate the Fire suppression systems."
As my ACEO started working on those orders I moved off to the side and tapped my bag.
"Captain Kay, this is Commander Rhymer. We have lost Warp drive capability due to an explosion and fire in the Port Nacelle Control Room. Estimated time of recovery is unknown at this time."
<tag Kay> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Sept 5, 2005, 3:32am
"WHAT?!?" Kay shouted.
"Confirmed," said Aarons, still minding the Ops station. "Warp drive is down. We've got Impulse and maneuvering thrusters, but that's it."
"Was this nightmare ever going to end?" Kay thought. "Mr. Rhymer, I'm going to need those engines back online." She knew hanging here in space she was asking the impossible of her CEO but he had come through for them many times before. This should be no different. He was, after all, a miracle worker.
"Aye, Captain," Danny said and closed the comm. link. "What does she think I am? A miracle worker?"
"She must think we're magicians," voiced his Assistant.
"All captains do, I've found," Rhymer replied wearily. "As soon as that fire's out, let's go assess the damage."
Meanwhile, on the bridge of the Cardassian ship...
"We're receiving a transmission from the Ferengi ship," a Cardassian-looking Breen said.
"On screen," said the Breen still looking like Sumar.
The screen fluttered into life and a huge Ferengi face appeared. "Do you have the cargo we discussed?" asked the Daimon, not bothering with pleasantries.
"We do. The Falconian is in our care but first, we must have proof of payment before delivery," Sumar hissed.
On the Majesty...
"Captain," broke in Janeway over the comm., "I have a very injured man here in sickbay. I'll need you down here right away."
Kay made her way immediately to sickbay and found Sovas lying on a biobed. His body was covered with burns. His uniform's fire retardation qualities obviously weren't sufficient for the amount of exposure he'd experienced.
"What happened to him?" she asked Liz.
"They beamed him directly here. He was in the Port Nacelle Room."
"Was there anyone else in there?"
"No, Captain... only Sovas." Liz went about her doctoral duties. She tried gently to remove the uniform from some of the badly burned areas to treat them first.
Stunned, Kay looked at the unconscious Vulcan she thought she knew so well and she began to question. "Was there anyone anywhere she could fully trust?" she pondered silently.
The away team assembled in Transporter room eight, waiting for the Captain to arrive. When she got there, she made sure everyone was armed.
"Ok, Aaron's scans revealed nothing unusual pertaining to the makeup of the scientific team personnel. However, if they're playing masquerade down there like they did up here, I want to be ready for them."
The team nodded in unison. Kay stepped up on the transporter platform and TEG immediately protested.
"Captain, I'd advise you to stay aboard... "
"Yes, I know, Number One... protocol calls for you to protest my joining the team. You've done your duty. I've been advised. Now, let's get going." Her demeanor was indicative of her stubborn side and TEG knew it was fruitless to say anything more.
They dissolved into sparkling matter and reappeared in a large brightly lit room. The stark white of the walls, floor, ceiling and equipment scattered throughout the room made each member of the team squint. It took all of them a few moments to adjust to the brightness. They exited from the transporter pad as a man entered the room.
"Visitors! It's always so nice to have visitors! he bellowed in a loud, low bass voice. He smiled broadly upon seeing Kaylana.
"Ace! So good to see you again!" She offered a hand for him to shake. He took it and pulled her into a giant bear hug. Smothered by his huge arms, Kay struggled to breathe amidst his embrace. She was also quite embarrassed by Dr. Horace Schmidt's inability for restraint.
"Kay-Kay! It's been too long! How are you, sweet thing? he said, as he began kissing her neck repeatedly.
Turning red in the face, Kay looked over at her crew who were either trying too hard not to observe the overly amorous greeting, or were laughing at it. Kay could only roll her eyes and turn redder.
Schmidt finally came up for air and Kay took the opportunity to wriggle free from him. Trying to make light of it all, she smiled feebly and asked, "Didn't get much for dinner, I see."
Doctor Schmidt laughed raucously. "Oh I had dinner... I just didn't have my dessert till you showed up!" Kay's face turned a shade akin to purple now and Horace laughed even louder seeing he had embarrassed her. He turned to TEG. "I always did love making her squirm. She was always so shy. Now, look at her... a Starfleet Captain! I always knew you'd do great things, Kay-Kay... if you ever got over your shyness."
Thinking she'd done pretty well at curbing her shyness... at least till now, Kay desperately tried to change the subject.
"Ace... we're here on an important matter. I need to speak with you immediately... in private."
Schmidt shot up an eyebrow, obviously enjoying the innuendo. "I'd love to. This way, my dear."
He ushered the landing party toward a hallway. Once through it, the room opened out into a huge laboratory dominated by a massive sphere that seemed to be hovering over its base. The ball-like object hung about six meters from the floor and surrounding the base were numerous consoles, each manned by a white-coated scientist.
"Wow," breathed someone behind Kay.
"Wow, indeed," responded Schmidt. "That sphere weighs over 11,000 kilos and it's been suspended there for over ten months... by just one gram of our newly discovered..." He stopped short of finishing his statement and asked, "Kay, just how much does everyone know about our project here?" He darted a look at Kay's crew.
"They've all been briefed, Ace, on the potential of Op-46," Kay assured him. "However, there are several questions I'd like for you to answer for just me... so I would like a room where we can talk."
"Certainly... right this way," he said and gestured to a small office.
Kay gave a knowing look to her First Officer and the three of them went inside.
"Who invited you?" Schmidt asked TEG gruffly.
"I did," answered Kay. "I need my First Officer to be as informed of the situation as I am."
Horace sniffed derisively but for now, tolerated TEG's presence.
Kay went directly to business, not giving Schmidt the opportunity to return to his earlier tomfoolery. "Before arriving to Tysan, my ship was boarded and almost overtaken by what we thought were Cardassians. Do you know anything about that?"
"Sure," Schmidt answered matter-of-factly. "I told them about our little power source and asked them if they'd be interested in it." Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Sept 5, 2005, 9:41pm
While trying to get to know the younger woman, a man was beamed directly to a biobed. He didn't look good, and she knew this nice little get together had ended, at least for now.
"Sorry, Vise, but duty calls. It never cesses when you are a doctor." She says smiling. She looks over the injuried party and gasps when she realizes who is lying on the bed.
=/\=Captain=/\= "I have a very injured man here in sickbay. I'll need you down here right away."
It wasn't long before the captain regaled them with her presence. She immediately made her way to Sovas lying on a biobed.
The captain seemed stunned, and tried to make sure to be able to get around her without any problems. She wasn't sure if the captain was okay, and indicated for Vise to come forward from Liz's office. She wasn't sure about the captain, but she knew she needed to move fast to try and save Sovas from all of this damage. It would be awhile before it was over, but it looked like a skin graft would be one of the only ways to save him. She would need to first make sure there was nothing left attacted to the skin, and then she had another idea. She goes over to get a strange looking machine, and decides this would be ten times better for him. She turns it so part of the nozel is over a part of the burn. Knowing this may take longer, she powers it up turning it on to start the task.
"I have a feeling this is going to take awhile, captain. He is unconscious now, but if he wakes I will inform you. Conselor Vise here can help you if you need her, ma'am." She says nodding for the counselor to take the captain a short distance away. The captain refuses help, and leaves. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Sept 6, 2005, 11:51pm
“You invited them here?” Kay asked, incredulously. “Ace? Why?”
Schmidt’s demeanor changed radically. His eyes narrowed as he spat, “Don’t you remember what the Maquis did to my wife? I’ve vowed to avenge her… and I’ll help the Cardassians wipe them from existence, once and for all!”
His words chilled Kay to the bone. This once gentle man had been reduced to nothing more than a vengeful murderer all because his wife happened to fall at the hand of a Maquis resistance fighter. Calmly, she tried to reason with him. “Ace, that happened nearly 15 years ago! The Maquis are all but wiped out. There hasn’t been a report of any activity for years. Most of them joined the Federation once the Dominion War began.”
The large man slammed his palm loudly on top of his desk. “There have been new reports that they are massing for an attack! I’ve seen it, Kay! Reports and… and… surveillance pictures! I won’t rest until they’re all gone!”
“And you don’t think those pictures and reports might have been faked?”
“NO!” Horace shouted. He ran his hand through his thick, black hair. “No, it is true! I’ve risked everything… it’s got to be true!”
“Ace, this is a Federation Outpost. You are a Federation citizen. You were sworn to keep this project secret!” Kay’s own anger was beginning to flare.
“I don’t have any allegiance to anyone; not since Deidre died!” The large, bear-like man began to shudder with wracking sobs. Kay wrapped her arms around him and he buried his face into her shoulder. Stoking his hair, she shushed him. Slowly, he withdrew and began muttering to himself, appearing to be in conversation with his departed wife.
Kay pulled her First Officer aside. “This is what I feared – he’s mentally unstable. Contact the ship and see if you can’t get the Counselor down here right away.”
“Aye, sir,” TEG replied sharply.
“And Number One, don’t let anyone else see him like this.” Kay’s memory flashed to earlier days, before Deidre’s passing, when Ace’s accomplishments won him every known honor in the scientific community. “He’s a brilliant man and he deserves to be treated with the utmost respect.”
Discreetly, TEG called for Sarlina Vice and it wasn’t long before she materialized. Kay advised her briefly of the situation and the Counselor moved off to where Horace sat, dazed and gently rocking himself. Soon, she returned to the Captain and recommended that Dr. Schmidt be transported aboard the ship. He would need medication to calm him before she could begin to treat his illness. Cornette agreed and it wasn’t long before they were gone.
Now, with only herself and TEG in the room, Kaylana revealed to her First Officer what she had read in the attached file sent to Janeway by Admiral Elron. “Janeway was under orders to watch me carefully. Headquarters was unsure of whether or not they could trust me, knowing my past ties with Doctor Schmidt. They felt it was prudent to have her ascertain my loyalties to Starfleet.”
“They doubted you?” TEG scoffed.
“Seems so,” Kay said flatly, “But that’s not the part of all this that has me wanting to resign my commission.” Kay sat wearily on top of the desk. TEG could see the responsibility of her duty was weighing extra heavily upon her.
“Resign your commission? What has you thinking such ludicrous thoughts?” he questioned.
She folded her arms across her chest and stared blankly at the opposing wall. “If my loyalties were found to be compromised, Liz Janeway had orders to see that I was permanently removed from active duty, if you get my drift. And if not, she was to give the file I read in her lab to me.” Kaylana sighed heavily, not wanting to go on. Once she revealed what she was about to say to TEG, he would then carry the responsibility of following the same orders, should anything happen to her. It briefly danced across her mind to never tell him. He would unknowingly do the right thing and not be held accountable for her breach of protocol. Withholding the information from him would solve all her problems. She, of course, would be demoted… or worse… but everyone else would be saved. However, duty seized her and she continued. “That file stated that if the security of this Outpost was compromised, and by Ace’s earlier admission, you can see that is has been, I am under orders to vaporize this moon and all its inhabitants.” Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sarlina Vise on Sept 7, 2005, 8:35pm
Sarlina was slightly dissapointed to find there lunch cut short, but of course a patient was more important then lunch. Sarlina managed to get a closer look, and from this saw that the patient was a Vulcun, and one of the higher ranking members of the crew. She followed the captain out and when she told her that she wouldn't need her help, Sarlina started walking to her office. A litle later Sarlina was told to beam down to the moon. She talked to a man for a little bit before they were both beamed back up to her office. Sarlin asighed and started to get to work. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Rhymer on Sept 13, 2005, 1:01am
After assembling my repair team and leaving my Assistant CEO a list of items to repair in Main Engineering I made my way up to the blast door Seperating the Port Nacelle from the rest of the ship.
"Ok everyone Listen up, we need an accurate and full assessment of damages and what will be needed to effect repairs. As we find and assess the damage send a report back to Engineering so that the standby team can start fabricating or drawing replacement parts from ships stores. Any questions?"
With a little bit of surprise I realized that one of my newer Ensigns did indeed have a question as he was looking a little frightenend and unsure if he should ask.
"Go ahead Ensign, I am sure that you won't be asking a question thats never been asked before."
"Well Sir, I was wondering if we expect to find anyone that didn't make it out of the room?"
"Well Ensign, apparently this explosion was timed with the shift change over so No, we don't expect to find anyone in there. However if we do just try to keep your mind on your work or just let me know and we will work something out."
Hearing the thank you, Sir from the Ensign I turned on my heel and stepped up to the door control panel to enter the override sequence and was granted access to the Control Room.
Stepping inside I noticed that the damage was not as bad as it could have been. All we really need is to setup a new control panel and hook it into the control circuit and we would have full warp Power restored.
"Commander Rhymer to Engineering, I need a Temporary Control Panel and about 100 feet of Control conduit beamed up here to the Control room."
About 5 minutes later the control panel and conduit along with all the required plasma cutters and Fusers to clear away the destroyed wiring and Decking aswell as creating the secure links between the hardline control circuits and the temporary panel.
<1 hr later>
Having finished the last of the fusion joints I stepped up to the Control panel and asked everyone else to clear the room.
"Engineering this Commander Rhymer, I am going to initiate a Port Nacelle startup from the control panel here. Once the Port Nacelle is stable I want you to begin a hot startup of the Main Warp drive and I will be down there as soon as I can."
"Yes Sir, we are standing by."
Came the crisp reply as I was keying in the startup sequence and watched with baited breath as I watched the Port Nacelle power readings fluctuated wildly but then settled down to a stable setting.
"Commander Rhymer, Port Nacelle appears stable we are commencing Hot startup of the Main warp Engines."
With a smile on my face and relief in my heart I replied.
"Well done everyone, I will be on the Bridge if you need me."
Walking out the access door I got in the nearest Turbolift and headed for the Bridge.
"Commander Rhymer to Captain Cornette, The Port Nacelle is now Functional and you should have Full warp power available in approximately 10 minutes."
<tag KAY> Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Sept 13, 2005, 5:35am
TEG stood looking at Kay. Stunned, was too light of a word, Flabbergasted would be more accurate. "They couldn't have really wanted to take you out."
"That is what the report says. And with what Ace said, this place has been compromised, meaning that we need to neutralize this moon. So do I do it, or Resign my commission, and let you do it."
"I sure as hell don't want to do it. We are Starfleet Officers, It is our duty to follow orders, unless those orders are unlawful. Then it is our responsibility to reject those orders, and come up with another solution."
"Has someone been reading the UCSJ. Hell, you should be in the JAG corp. So what do you think we should do."
"We could evacuate the population, destroy the moon, and take Ace and his crew to face the light."
"We could, but what about Janeway?"
"We might just have to lock her up until this is all sorted out." TEG winked. Hopefully Kay knew that there'd be hell to pay for this, but it is better than committing mass homicide.

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Sept 14, 2005, 5:23pm
After the completion of modifications to the ACB systems Falco returned to his ops station on the bridge in the absence of Hawk. He continued to monitor the Cardassian ship which was moving in and out of sensor range. Sensors alerted him that the ship had suddenly changed course and speed to intercept the Majesty and that they had armed weapons and taken an offensive posture. Sensors also showed that a Federation shuttlecraft was being held, by a tracker beam, out front of the Cardassuan vessel and there were multiple human life signs aboard.
Falco quickly turned to Commander Aarons who was in command of the bridge at this time and relayed his sensor readings.
“Sir we are being hailed by the Cardassian vessel and they will be within weapons range in 2.47 minutes,” Falco stated.
“Shields up! Red Alert! On screen Lieutenant,” Michaels replied.
The screen came alive with the face of a tall Cardassian on his bridge.
“Commander of the Federation vessel, I wish to exchange your crew members, which I have in my position, for those members of my ship which you now hold prisoner,” came the Cardassian's simple request.
“I am Commander Aarons of the Federation Starship Majesty. Hold your vessel's position until I have relayed your message to our Captain,” Aarons said as he turned his back to the view screen and motioned for the audio to be cut, “Lt. Falco contact the Captain.”
“Sir we have another problem! Long range sensors have just pick up a Breen warship headed straight for us at high warp and will bring her fully charged weapons to bear in 24 minutes 13 seconds!” Falco said with a worried looked as he turned to Commander Aarons, “And Commander I have the Captain on audio.”
(tag Kay, TEG, Aarons, Anyone) Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on Sept 15, 2005, 12:21am
Sovas' last memory was seeing a bright flash and being slammed against the wall by the force of an explosion. He had a fairly large concussion. He had nearly died...But his body was not ready for the afterlife yet. It still had a story to tell.
The body is only a shell, illuminated by the soul, and his soul willed him to live. As documented in ancient Vulcan texts, the Katra, the living spirit as it is in Terran terms, was claimed by the ancients to be the most powerful force in the universe. More powerful than a supernova or an artificial singularity or even the Big Bang, the supposed beginning of the known universe. Although the ancient texts have been abandoned, over analyzed, and heavily criticized since the age of Surak, the notion of a Katra still thrives among Vulcans, and especially among Sovas, a student of the ancient texts and former archaeologist on Vulcan who excavated for ancient Vulcan artifacts.
Sometimes when he found ancient texts and discussed them with his peers, they would show a harsh stigma toward Sovas and told him it was for the best to leave the mysteries alone, and cherish the age of logic. Sovas had always been grateful for the accomplishments of Surak, and often viewed him as the savior of their race. Yet logic could be limited and narrow at times, sometimes too sterile, thus Sovas found fascination in the ancient philosophies which were much richer and open-minded than pure logic.
Sovas began to open his eyes. He was staring at the ceiling in sickbay. He began to move and Commander Janeway was alerted to his regaining of consciousness. Janeway stood over Sovas and told him that his body was stabilizing and that most of the burns were treated.
Sovas had slowly risen from the bed and began to chow down on sickbay lunch. He had to admit, the mess hall was a Five-Star Risian hotel compared to this. He had nonetheless eaten his meal quickly. Sovas then stood up and walked around. His legs still ached, probably from the force of the explosion, but he found little problems with walking. Soon after, a security officer came in, and approached Sovas.
Officer: Commander Sovas. Please remain where you are.
Sovas: Excuse me? What do you mean?
Sovas began to approach the officer but was met with a forcefield, which extended around his bed.
Officer: I mean the forcefield I just had to erect around you.
Sovas: Yes, I can see that now.
Officer: I'm afraid that you will need to remain here for now, Commander. The Captain and First Officer aren't here right now, and I will have to wait for their return before I can release you.
Sovas: I understand...
Officer: All I know is I wouldn't want a traitor lurking the decks of this ship. Now I don't know if you did it or not, but if you did, you've got a rude awakening coming to you.
Sovas: Lieutenant. As you were.
The Officer backed out of the room and stormed out. Commander Janeway approached Sovas, looking somewhat embarrassed or ashamed.
Janeway: Is there anything I can get you, Commander? Something to read, maybe?
Sovas: No...No thank you.
Janeway began to walk off but stopped midway.
Janeway: I... I hope everything works out for the best... I don't enjoy watching you jailed up in here... If you need anything, just let me know, please...
Sovas took a deep breath and attempted to meditate. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Sept 19, 2005, 2:55pm
All of a sudden Liz heard a beeping noise coming from her office. She enters and closes the door realizing she has a message, and doesn't want Sovas or the officer to overhear this as it might be important. She sits down and opens the message.
"Hello my dear, I hope you have been working on our little project. We need it, and you right now. If you have completed it, bring it with you to Deck 12 Section 16. We will be picking you up when the Breen attack. Don't disappoint me." She hears as Sumar's face disappears from the screen. She had completed the assignment, but told no one about it. Where did her loyalties lie? She kept seeing the captain's face, and imagined a disappointed look too, but decided it was time to follow her heart. She gathers what she needs, and departs to the place to wait for them to get her.
Not too long after she arrives, she finds the ship is lurching left and right, and then she is transported over finding herself face to face with Sumar. She smiles, and quickly follows him to prepare to take over the moon. She tells him they don't have much time, and then heads to their sickbay to get started on the work.
When she arrives she sends a message over to the Majesty with a code for just the captain, and then gets the computer ready, knowing exactly what she must do. She quickly gets everything ready and is ready to hit the button to engage it, when Sumar arrives.
"I don't know what you think you are doing, but my men are working on counteracting your little scheme. I thought you loved me. Well I guess this is good-bye then. Any final words?" He says looking very hurt and disappointed.
"Yes, as a matter of fact I do. I did love you, and we shared something special before I joined up, but now I have found my true family, and I am not going to let them down." She says pushing the button before Sumar can do anything to prevent her. Suddenly the gas leaks out over the entire ship putting everyone out of commission for the time being. Liz slinks down, and before closing her eyes she hopes the captain gets her message before it is too late to rescue her. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Sept 19, 2005, 5:03pm
“Captain the Cardassian ship has moved into an attack posture and is requesting an exchange of prisoners! Then to make matters worse a Breen warship is heading straight for us at high warp! Captain you are needed on the bridge ASAP!” Aarons exclaimed.
“Beam me directly to the bridge and prepare to leave orbit,” Captain Cornette said thinking that the moon would have to wait.
Unknown to the Majesty crew, the Ferengi ship had exchanged its cargo, the Op-46, for the near dead Falconian. They set a course for the Mako Sigma system, a distant uncharted region of space and left at warp 3.
“Commander I am reading no Falconian life sign from the shuttle, only human,” Falco informed Aarons.
“Scan the Cardassian ship,” Aarons instructed.
“He is not on that ship either Sir, however our sensors did detect a brief echo of a Ferengi signature only moments ago. It appears to be gone now,” Falco said with frustration as he jumped from his seat.
Falco looked around the bridge, holding back his apprehension and anger. The Majesty crew all knew their duty, now it’s time for me to do mine, he thought. He tugged the hem of his uniform and settled into the operations chair, interlacing his fingers in an almost casual pose. There were no Falconian life signs aboard that shuttlecraft out front of the Cardassian vessel and he would not sit by and do nothing while who knows what has happened to Hawk.
Falco’s plan took shape inside his mind as he continued to monitor the ops position. Falco knew what he was about to do could and would most likely end his Starfleet career. He could even face prison time but all this he would endure for his friend. Falco thought that with the Captain and the FO on the planet, T’Rok the chief of Security still missing and Commander Aarons with his hands full with the Cardassian ship, it would be the perfect time to steal a shuttlecraft and search for Hawk.
Falco did detect a brief sensor reading, which appeared to be of a Ferengi ships signature, just before the Cardassian ship moved. He believed that since no Falconian life signs remained on the Cardassian ship or the shuttlecraft in its tractor beam, then Hawk must have been moved to the Ferengi ship.
Falco did not know why the Ferengi would have taken him but refused to believe that Hawk was dead. He would make his departure when their orbit was at its farthest point from the Cardassian ship. He would head for an asteroid belt near by to hide in if need be.
Kaylana materialized on the bridge and Commander Aarons quickly filled her in on their tactical situation. Kay turned to face the Cardassian figure on the view screen. Just before Cornette could request that audio be restored came…
“Captain, long range sensors have picked up another ship coming in at high warp and it appears to be on an intercept course for the Breen Warship. It is a Klingon ship Sir,” Falco alerted the Captain.
“Well if your going to throw a party we should invite everyone,” Kay said in jest as the tension on the bridge was building, “First things first, Lieutenant restore audio with our Cardassian impostor.”
“Channel open, Captain.” Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Hawk on Sept 20, 2005, 7:33pm
“This is Captain Cornette of the Federation Starship Majesty, state your exchange proposal and make it quick,” Kay demanded.
“Well, Captain….Captain no need to get pushy. I simply want to exchange your people for mine.” Came the reply of the Cardassian face.
Kaylana quickly settled their arrangement and set their side of the agreement in motion. She had another ship or two to deal with and wanted to conclude the dirty business of prisoner exchange before the Breen ship became a threat. She knew in the back of her mind that Hawk was not aboard that shuttle but did not have the time to figure it all out at this moment.
“Captain, our sensors show that the Klingon vessel is an advanced Negh'Var-class with all the latest Klingon technology and Sir, they are hailing us,” came the shocked response from Lt. Falco.
“On screen!” came Kay’s reply.
Appearing on the view screen was a very angry looking Klingon unknown to Captain Cornette.
“I am General K’Thor, Captain of the IKS HoS MupwI', I am here to assist you. One moment while I send this Breen dog to his StoVoKor,” K’Thor stated coldly.
The Majesty crew saw this just before the Klingon ship was cloaked and fired a newly developed “Shieldburster Torpedo”. Moments later the Breen ship was gone from their sensors and only the Klingon ship remained as it de-cloaked. The next picture they say was this:
“Hello Kay, long time since we have seen each other. I miss our battles in the court room. Sorry it has to be during such an objectionable situation. I was only advised of your situation on my way back from a visit to the Klingon High Counsel to request they give Section 47 a squadron of Klingon ships to assist are increased patrol needs.
“General K’Thor was kind enough to offer me a lift back to Section 47, when I received the first transmission from Admiral Jack Clark at Bellicose about your mission. It seems that someone has intercepted and changed the content of the message which you received.” Nova explained in a matter of fact voice. “I would love to have dinner with you after we resolve your current situation, of course.”
“Well Admiral, I would love to accept however, I am in the middle of regaining my lost crew members and I still have one missing or dead, I am afraid,” replied Kay in a saddened voice.
“Oh I almost forgot that on are way to your position we picked up a package for you,” Nova stated in a non-excited manner.
The next thing that was seen on there screen was….
“I am sorry Captain for neglecting my duties for so long,” Hawk stated.
Kaylana moved towards the view screen just to touch the image of Hawk when she realized the entire bridge crew was watching she backed away. She adjusted her uniform and walked back towards her chair as she spoke.
“I am glad to see you are alive Commander however I am a bit surprised that you are on this Klingon vessel,” Kay said with relief, “Oh, and consider yourself on report for leaving the ship without my permission!” Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Sept 21, 2005, 3:45pm
Liz woke up, and felt very lucky that she had remembered to inject herself with something to make sure the effects wouldn't keep her out for long. She looks around her, and decides to act fast, as she has no idea when her crew would realize she wasn't aboard. She didn't know what the concequences of her actions would be, but she was willing to accept them, just as long as she wasn't kicked out of the Fleet. She chuckles and starts to round up the crew putting them in their quarters, and locking them in making sure they couldn't revolt against her. She hopes that message made its way out, and when she has all the crew put away she heads for the bridge.
Once on the bridge she walks over to the main chair, sits down, and directs everything to run through the pannel right next to her. She moves the ship closer to the Majesty, and is suprised to see Klingon Birds of Prey in the area. She gulps, and finds they start to open fire on her. She opens a channel.
"Majesty and anyone else listening. The crew here has been taken care of for the time being, and I currently am running this ship. I could use some assistance, as I don't know how long I will be able to hold this ship alone." She says and isn't surprised by the answer.
"Hello, doctor, we didn't realize you had gotten away from us. Don't worry I will have security over there quickly, but you will have to lower your shields. Oh and doc, don't think you are off the hook." The captain responded, not looking happy at all. Liz only nods, and sighs a little relief signing out. It doesn't take long before security has boarded and taken the ship, but unfortunately she is again under arrest. This time she accepts it, and awaits judgement.
Back on the ship, Liz is thrown into the brig, and left there for a few days. She thinks it is to help her think about her actions, and that maybe everyone was busy at the moment getting things wrapped up. She didn't care, and was glad to be back on the ship, even if she was jailed again. The brig didn't seem so bad this time around, and just as she was getting used to her surroundings the captain and another officer came in. The officer is introduced as Admiral Nova, and then Liz realizes just how much trouble she could be in. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Sept 26, 2005, 5:37pm
Liz gives her explanation of what happened, and is told she will have this put on her permanate record, tainting it in every way. She sighs, and excepts this. She is also told she will have an escort from now until it is deem unneccesary by the captain, and then her actions will be evaluated when it is deemed so. She is let out, and returns to sickbay to find Sovas still there, but recouperating quickly. She goes to a nearby console and runs scans on him finding he doesn't need to be here anymore. She tells security about his, and he is taken from sickbay, but to where she doesn't know. Her security escort comes to sickbay to keep an eye on her, and she goes to her desk to evaluate things on this end. She finds the planet is being evacuated, and starts to get things ready just in case her services are needed.
After a good hour or two she finds no one has come down to her, and she wonders what is going on. Tired of being in exile down in sickbay, she and her new shadow go to the bridge, where she sits at her station. On the viewscreen is the planet, and she hears the order to have it destroyed, but says nothing knowing the captain has her orders. She keeps her head down, not wanting to be in the spotlight any further. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by TEG24601 on Sept 30, 2005, 8:14pm
The moon was evacuated, thanks to Admiral Nova and the Klingons.
Once the scientists were aboard, Captain Cornette ordered the Majesty into a higher orbit. Commander Greenwood worked on calculations for the amount of explosives that were needed for the tri-colbalt devices to be used in the neutralization of the moon. Commanders Hawk and Aarons worked together to get to the best shooting location, and worked on an optimal course to return the Majesty to Starbase 47. Commander Sovas worked on the targeting scanners, making sure they were aligned correctly, to prevent any problems, while at the same time Commander Rhymer worked on the bridge to eek out more power for the shields and the phasers. Dr. Janeway came onto the bridge and took a station flanked by Ensign T'Rok who had replaced here security guard enroute. Lt. Falco leaned over Commander Greenwoods shoulder to suggest a little to much explosive energy wouldn't hurt in this situation. Lt. Vise sat in her seat to the Captain's Left with a 'I hope you know what you're doing look'. Commander TEG 24601 sat on Captain Cornette's right, making sure all departments were ready for the results of any possible shockwave.
Admiral Duke Nova arrived on the bridge, and everyone stood up at attention. He dismissed them, however, TEG remained standing, and offered his seat the the Admiral, who graciously accepted. TEG then took a position behind Kay's right shoulder.
Nik, Sovas, Hawk, Mike, and Rhymer all indicated their readiness. Kay glanced up at TEG, giving him the signal he needed.
"Mr. Sovas, fire!"
Phasers tore from every forward phaser strip, and cut 50 meter holes in the surface of the moon. The light flickered on the bridge, but nothing went wrong. After 20 seconds, the phasers disengaged, and torpedoes carrying the tri-cobalt devices were launched toward the holes in the surface.
"Engage." Ordered Kay.
The ship pitched away from the planet, and began to leave the system a full impulse. The viewscreen stayed on the planet as the devices simultaneously tore the moon to pieces. The explosion was so large it overloaded the sensors, causing the viewscreen to go all white.
The ship then engaged warp drive and began the journey back to Starbase 47.
Admiral Nova stood, and congratulated the crew on and excellent job, and how he wished that it had not been necessary.
As he went to leave the bridge, Kay invited him to dinner, along with TEG and Hawk. They all accepted the invite.

Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Sovas on Oct 1, 2005, 10:52pm
OFF: This post occurs in-between Hawk and TEG's last posts.
ON: Sovas' version of events
How long had he been sitting there?
He had no idea. He had lost track of time as he meditated for a few hours, regaining mental and physical strength. His deep trance was interrupted by the red alert klaxon, which sounded violently. He came to almost immediately, and stood up instinctively, suddenly remembering that a force field stood in his way. He stood there, helpless for a few minutes.
A short while later, a lieutenant walked into the room and rushed to deactivate the forcefields. At once, the man pulled out a phaser rifle and pointed it at Sovas.
Sovas: What is going on?
Lieutenant: You are needed on the bridge. Captain says we need someone who can work the targeting scanners, and precision firing as well. After you sir.
The lieutenant kept the phaser rifle pointed at Sovas as he slowly walked out of the room, followed by the lieutenant.
Lieutenant: Sorry about this commander, just a precaution. Don't take it personally.
Sovas: It would be illogical to blame yourself, and I do understand the precautions.
Sovas continued on and entered the turbolift to the bridge. He stepped out onto the bridge. The captain waved Sovas onto the bridge and he hurried to his station.
Sovas: I assume we are firing on the moon, these weapons are high yield.
Cornette: Yes, and we need them now!
Sovas went to work quickly, aligning weapons and targeting the moon at specific points.
TEG: Mr. Sovas, fire!
Sovas nodded and fired the weapons. All phaser banks fired, brutally piercing the surface of the moon, and soon after, the torpedoes carrying the tri-cobalt devices were launched. Instantly, the moon imploded, engulfing the Majesty in a light more brilliant than a thousand suns. The Majesty quickly went to warp and headed back to Starbase 47.
Sovas looked around, everyone appeared to be recovering from the awe of destroying the moon. Sovas himself was somewhat awe struck himself, but did not show it. He then quickly remembered that the lieutenant was standing behind him, phaser rifle still aimed at him. The lieutenant lowered his weapon, but remained in the back of the bridge. Sovas hoped that his ordeal would soon be over... Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Kaylana Cornette on Oct 6, 2005, 2:55pm
The dinner, though unplanned, was quite nice. The galley had managed to put together a meal fit for a… well, fit for a Section Admiral.
Kay’s emotions were running high but all in check, so far. Having Hawk back safe and sound was a huge relief. They’d both been through so much together that Kay had a difficult time thinking about what her life would be like without him. Ever since he’d rescued her mind from the computer, they had enjoyed a tiny, residual link, deepening the already entrenched friendship.
As she surveyed the other attendees at her table, Kay listened to the small talk between TEG and Duke Nova. Her mind raced backward to the first time she had met Duke, then a swaggering lady’s man, intent on seducing just about anything in a skirt. She had successfully thwarted his advances back then and went on to admire his skills as a prosecuting attorney when they served together in JAG. Now, with added weight to his mid-section and graying hair at his temples, she knew the years had matured him beyond the obvious outward signs. Intrinsically, she knew she had come into her own as well. She was a long way from that shy navigational officer that once piloted this very ship.
“Do you remember the first time we met, Kay?”
The sound of her name jolted her from her reminiscing and Kay noticed that Duke was asking her a question. “Well, yes. As a matter of fact, I was just thinking about that very thing. And I’ve been thinking about how grateful I am you happened along when you did. I’d been wracking my brains and my First Officer’s on a way to save the inhabitants of Iota 626 without compromising my orders.” She paused and looked puzzled. “It was just ‘luck’ that you showed up, wasn’t it?”
Duke smiled knowingly. “You always have been lucky, Kay.” He raised a glass to her and nodded once. “To you, Kaylana Cornette …one of the luckiest charms in the galaxy.”
“Here, here,” added TEG and Hawk together.
Kay frowned slightly at Duke’s avoidance of her question. “I don’t mean to spoil our dinner, but I would like to know how Starfleet justifies wiping the memories of the scientists from the Outpost. We gave them very little choice. Given the choice between being blown to smithereens along with Tysan or having their memories of Oppenium 46 removed; only a madman would have chosen destruction.” The others around the table grew silent and pensive. They too had wondered about the ethics of erasing memories of Federation citizens. Kay took a small sip of her drink and continued. “I realize the threat to all life as we know it was hanging in the balance. None of us, no matter how evolved we may think we are, can keep something so destructive from those who still harbor such barbarous emotions as greed and lust for power. However, I can’t help wondering if what we did here was right.”
Nova set down his glass and wiped his mouth slowly. “I understand your reservations about it, Kay. I agree with you. Our ethics are questionable in this instance.” He rose from his seat and slowly walked to peer out of the view port. “What makes the decision easier for me is thinking about your friend, Dr. Horace Schmidt. He was a brilliant man, dedicated to helping all societies with his discoveries, but one incident in his past planted a seed of vengeance… and that seed caused him to compromise his core beliefs. If it can happen to him, it could happen to any of us.”
“Very true, sir,” was Kay’s simple reply.
The serious tone of the conversation led to the dinner party’s quick end. Just before Nova exited to his VIP quarters aboard the Majesty, Kay pulled him aside and spoke with him about Commander Sovas. She asked if he might head the investigation and resolve the question of his loyalty aboard the Majesty instead of tying up the case in a JAG tribunal on some starbase that would surely drag on for months. He agreed and promised her he’d take care of the details tomorrow. Kay smiled, thanked him, shook his hand warmly and they parted. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by lizjaneway on Oct 6, 2005, 3:52pm
Liz got orders about wiping the memory of those involved outside of the ship's crew, but that didn't involve the admial, and she sighs a little bit. She doesn't like tampering with anyone's mind, and sends an objections, which she is sure will be noted, to the captain about this. She and her shadow head to sickbay to begin notifying those who needed the procedure done.
=/\=Now here this. Those down on the planet need to come in for a check up. I repeat, those down on the planet need to come to sickbay for a check up. =/\= She says and gets ready for the large quantity of people coming her way.
She and her nurses are swamped with people, and they get things underway, having a cover story already for those asking what they are doing here. She gets three people done, and then sees a nice line starting and going out the door groaning inwardly over this, then she gets back to work.
Several hours later, she has all the memory stuff fixed, and now she needs to see about the crew that never came in.
=/\=Dr. Janeway to the Majesty crew. If any of you were down on the planet, then you need to report to me immediately.=/\= She says hoping to see someone she knows, and soon.
OOC: Okay this is it for now, I will reply to any for me later when I return from my LOA. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Section Admiral Duke Nova on Oct 16, 2005, 10:15pm
Nova was in his quarters mulling over just how to handle the Sovas case and just which command grade officers he would get to sit on the board. It was late and Nova was relaxing in favorite sleeping attire while looking over the case file. This case was filled with sensitive material and he would have to pick only officers which either had prior knowledge of Op-46 or a class 1 special OPS clearance.
Duke suddenly perked up when he thought of one such person right off the bat. Nova strutted over to the mirror on the wall and while checking out his appearance he thought, “Karynn would work out just fine for board member 1.” He touched up the position of his hair and pulled in his stomach.
“Well, maybe I could use a few hours in the gym but just to tone-up my muscles,” Duke said to his reflection.
Nova grinned at himself and as he moved away from the mirror heard, “You have got to be kidding me right?” Duke moved back quickly to his image. “It would take you a month in the gym just to get your wind back old man,” his image said, laughing uncontrolably.
Nova removes the mirror and turns it to the wall thinking that he did not have the time to lose this argument.
Nova composed an official dispatch requesting two officers rendezvous with the Majesty within 72 hours. He sent it and turned in for the night. Re: Mooning Over Op-46 Post by Nik Greenwood on Oct 20, 2005, 4:44am
Nik was glad to be back at Starbase, the events of the recent mission were taking their toll on him, the ship and other crew members.
"Computer remind me I need to see the Doc about these headaches"
"Confirmed" replied the computer.
"Computer, do you like yourself?" Why he just asked that he was not sure.
"Confirmed" replied the computer.
"Okay then" Nik said amused and tired he went to lay down, and see what the next day would throw at him. He was hoping for some nice peaceful shoreleave, but knowing the majesty that just wasnt gonna happen.

Hey guys, I know its not much but well Im back and gonna be makeing super human effort to post. Hope you are all doing well.

Joint post between Nova and McCormick
Having received word that Admiral McCormick and Admiral Henry Argyle had arrived on board the Majesty, Nova advised them both to meet him in the Observation Lounge at 0900 hours.
Nova arose early, dressed and headed for the ship’s store replicators. On his way, Duke thought that this may be the opportune time to surprise his favorite Admiral a gift. A look of consternation crossed his face as he contemplated what would be the perfect gift. Finally, his mind touched upon a brilliant idea; he would seek the aid of a friend. Knowing that his good friend Hawk had spent considerable time in the past with Karynn, Duke figured he might also know what would tickle her fancy. He contacted him and soon Hawk was on his way to meet Nova in the replicator area.
Hawk arrived promptly. He smiled upon seeing Duke again and asked, “What seems to be your current dilemma, Admiral?”
“You can drop the Admiral part when we’re alone, Hawk,” Nova replied. Pacing nervously, Duke clasped his hands behind his back and explained. “I have an enormously important decision to make.”
Hawk’s face turned somber as he thought of the possible weighty decisions that plagued his friend. He asked solemnly, “Is Section 47 in crisis?”
“No,” Duke answered anxiously, “It’s worse than that! I’m in crisis over what type of gift to give Karynn.”
Hawk chuckled and shook his head at his smitten friend. “I can’t believe you’re so distraught over a mere female when you have the weight of the whole Section on your shoulders.”
“If this were a decision on who to send into danger or what battle tactics to use, I’d have no problems. Even in my past, I’ve never had any difficulties when it came to women. But, with Karynn… it’s like I’m losing my touch.” Nova continued his pacing and his agitation with himself showed. “I’m like a tongue-tied schoolboy around her and can never seem to do the right thing.”
Hawk placed a friendly hand on Duke’s shoulder, stopping his pacing. “In that case, I will do my best to assist you with this very dynamic female.” Thinking for a few moments, Hawk finally spoke, “If you really want to impress this woman, nothing you can replicate here will do the trick. But, I do know of something that will.”
“That’s great… but I only have a few hours to pull it off.”
Pacifying his friend with a gentle pat on the back, Hawk said, “Just leave it to me, Duke… I’ll take care of everything for you.”
Nova breathed a sigh of relief, “Thank you, my friend. You’re definitely a life-saver!”
“I figured it’s payback for rescuing me for me to rescue your love-life,” Hawk said with a grin. __________________________________________________________________________________
The Observation Lounge was vacant with the exception of the two Admirals Nova had summoned. Duke greeted them informally and ushered them to the three chairs set up behind a large table. Since the Section Admiral had to sit in the center seat, Duke deftly maneuvered Karynn to sit on, what he thought to be, his best side.
In front of each member of the hearing tribunal was a case file. Karynn’s was adorned with a box, beautifully wrapped in white paper and topped with a holographically produced mood-perceptive bow that changed colors as Karynn drew near it.
“Hey,” Admiral Argyle protested jokingly, “How come I didn’t get a box with a bow on it?”
Nova blushed and cleared his throat nervously but offered no explanation.
Karynn was puzzled. “Is this from you?”
Duke hem hawed but managed to mumble out, “It’s a little something I had flown over to sweeten your mood.”
McCormick gingerly opened the present feeling a bit embarrassed she was receiving special treatment from the Section Admiral. Her expression changed rapidly to elation once she saw what the box contained. Inside were the most precious jewels known in the galaxy, as far as Karynn was concerned. “They’re glorious!” she exclaimed and reached in to retrieve one of the six treasures. She brought it out and without thinking, took a large bite. “"I thought you could only get these on Conqueror. Mmmmmm…", she uttered ecstatically, "How did you know about these?” Her words were muffled by a large mouthful of one of Tante Maria’s double chocolate éclairs.
“A little birdie told me,” Duke answered satisfactorily and grinned from ear to ear. He made a mental note to thank Hawk for the tip. McCormick was truly enjoying each bite.
Karynn made short work of the éclair and thought about eating another when the doors of the Lounge parted and Sovas entered alone. Nova gestured him to be seated in the chair in front of the table. The Vulcan sat rigidly and Duke convened the hearing to order once Karynn had meticulously licked her fingers clean of chocolate fudge icing.
“Commander Sovas, I would like to remind you that this is an informal hearing. You are not on trial. Information we gather here today may determine whether or not a formal inquiry will be necessary.” The Section Admiral glanced down at his notes and continued. “You are accused of possible espionage and sabotage of a Starship. How do you plea?”
“Not guilty, sir.” Sovas answered with typical non-emotion.
“It will be so entered into the log,” Nova responded flatly. He shuffled his stack of PADDS briefly. “With the permission of my esteemed colleagues,” Duke nodded to his right and left indicating McCormick and Argyle, “And in the interest of brevity, I’d like to direct the panel’s attention to section 32.3 of the case file.” Pausing for them to find the portion of the document, Duke poured a small glass of water from the container provided for them on the table and took a swallow. He took note if those on the panel were up to speed before going on. “First of all, a scan of the weapon used in the sabotage revealed that the Cardassian disruptor was awash with Breen DNA as well as Sovas’. However, that in and of itself doesn’t clear the Commander of complicity. It is the Doctor’s micro cellular scan she performed exactly 17.3 minutes after the supposed firing of the disruptor that is noteworthy. The disruptor was still in the Commander’s hand after being transported directly to sickbay to treat his extensive injuries. We are fortunate to have the scan at all. Due to the nature of his burns, the scan was necessary for the Doctor to know which treatment would be most affective for her patient. You can see for yourselves the results of the scan taken from Sovas’ right hand… the one holding the disruptor.”
Karynn and Henry read over the results but didn’t follow what significance it held until Nova explained. “Usually, we aren’t lucky enough to have a scan performed so quickly after a weapon is used. Energy signatures left in the mitochondria of living cells linger for approximately 20 minutes… longer if the exposure to an electro-plasma source is increased. A disruptor blast able to knock out a warp nacelle would have to be sustained for at least 5 to 6 seconds, leaving behind a larger area of cells containing energy spikes.” Duke rose from his chair and leaned over Karynn’s shoulder, pointing out the data. “You see the low figures there for the mitochondrial energy found in Sovas’ cells? Those all would be significantly higher had he fired a weapon using any type of electro-plasma energy, which of course, a Cardassian disruptor uses.”
“Fascinating!” Admiral Argyle breathed. “I have never seen this type of evidence entered into court before.”
“It is indeed rare to have the opportunity to perform a micro cellular scan so soon after the incident,” Nova said, still bent over Karynn’s shoulder. She turned toward him and for an instant they were nose to nose. Duke could pick out the faint smell of sweet chocolate on her breath. Losing his train of thought, he fumbled for his next words.
McCormick, rattled by his closeness, turned away and pretended to be unaffected. “From these findings, I can see no reason why not to exonerate Commander Sovas of all charges of sabotage.”
“And as for his espionage charges,” Argyle added, “I believe the statement he provided concerning the confusion following the crew’s being knocked unconscious with a nerve agent is more than acceptable… especially when you weigh it with his impeccable service record.”
Nova recovered from his euphoria at McCormick’s nearness and sat down. He asked McCormick and Argyle for their agreement or disagreement with dismissing the charges levied. Both responded in agreement with dismissal.
Without having to say a word in his defense, Sovas was cleared of any wrongdoing. He thanked the tribunal, even going so far as to shake each of their hands before leaving the room.
“That’s one happy Vulcan,” Admiral Argyle quipped.
