(O.O.C I was going to wait to post, but things are slow and this ship is starting to become stale)
Melain slept in her quarters for the first time on the Nevada. When she awoke her crono told her she'd been sleeping for about 7 hours, not as much as she needed, but enough to keep her going. Remembering that the medical team wasn't even halfway through the crew physicals she decided to get up and go back on duty a little earlier then expected.
she slipped into her uniform and put up her hair. With any luck Frek would now be awake and she could chastize him on his reckless behavior. reaching down for a hair pin she noticed that the datapad from the Bajoran archives still lay on her desk, this brought back a wave of forgotten concerns. She had sent her mother a rather rude message calling her a liar and demanding answers. By now her mother would have recieved that message and be unable to respond, possibly having been told her daughter was missing and presumed dead.
Angrily Melain picked up the PADD and threw it against the wall, much to her dismay it stayed in one peace. She shoould not have been so rash to cast judgement, what would the prophets say? Still upset at herself Melain stepped out of her quarters on deck 5 and headed toward the turbolift. The lift was empty, which did not bother her. "Deck 7" Melain orderd and the lift began to slip downwards. Melain's stomech protested with an angry gurgle. Melain sighed, remembering that she had not had much to eat, and even then it was 9 hours ago that she had eaten at all. 'Belay that order, deck 1 Observation Lounge." The turbolift began to climb upwards instead.
The lift came to a halt and Melain stepped out, she had chosen the lounge rather then the mess in hopes that she could avoid a large crowd. There was a single replicator and Melain heaed eagerly toward it. "Coffee, double cream single suger and a blueberry Muffin." No Bajoran food for her this morning, she needed to try and clear her haed of that visit. The food appeaered a second later. Melain picked up her tray and set forth to find a table.
"Melain! Now I've got you cornerd, you can't hide from me forever. Besides you should know better then trying to avoid a Cardassian." Melain flinched as she heard Danara call out from a table near one of the windows. But she had no other choice, it was too late to pretend she hadn't heard her old room mate.
"I haven't been hiding, I've been busy." Melain insisted, grudgingly heading toward the cardy's table.
"You brushed me off pretty good in the replimate for someone who hasn't been hiding. So tell me, how has your first assignment been going? I've been pretty bored, the Miner's gave us some excitment, but all it amounted to was a short fire fight and Frek insured we didn't get into any exciting combat. Speaking of which how is he, I heard he almost died?"
"World travels fast around here." Melain replied, hoping to avoid Danara's first question.
"It's a small ship... I geuss. anyway I haven't been to sickbay yet, how's the team?" Danara asked, Melain felt like she was being grilled by her mother after a day of school.
"Good, they've got a lot of experiance. The Chief Nurse has been on board for several years, and served on a Star Fleet relief vessel before that. The EMH was so active during the crews time without a CMo he's developed a personnality and has even been named. The Medical tech is excellent, but shy." Melain replied and had to admit it was nice being able to talk to someone.
"I'm due to go back on duty in a few minutes, so I'd better get going. Catch you later." Danara excused herself and got up. Melain coudn't help but contemplate her choice of words.
Once Danara had left Melain focused on her coffee and muffin which she had not yet touched
