"I'm... I'm angry at them. I know I should not be but I just wish they would have told me the truth. I spent my entire life loving a father who was really a fake. My mom took my aunt's place when she dies to keep the facade going and escape from Bajor to earth. They never seemed to be very close, I geuss now I know why." Melain explained.
'has it occured to you that the reason your parents kept the act going is because they are still afraid of being tracked down and punished for it.' Grace asked.
Melain shook her head"But that does not make any sense, the occupation is over, Cardassia is in ruines, Bajor is part of the Federation."
Grace leaned forward "yes, but when someone has had to live hiding such a secret, so afraid of letting it out it becomes nearly impossible to live any other way. Your parents liedto you not because they wanted to hold something from you, but to protect you from what they believed was a real threat."
Melain sighed "I never thought of it that way. I wish I knew my father, and my aunt."
'Of course you do, but that is no reason to hold yourself against the ones who raised you. Benjel is as much your father as he will ever be, try to find it in yourself to treat him that way."
"I will. Thank you Grace for your guidence. It's great to have a friend like you." Melain smiled.
"Talk to your mother again, and your uncle, I'm sure there is much they wish to share with you about their spouses." Grace encouraged.
Melain stood up and gave Grace a hug. "I will. My earing, the chain and cuff where my fathers, the clasp my aunts. It means more to me now then ever before." She left and headed to her quarters.
(o.O.C we should probably move onto the next mission now)
