--"CONN, NAV contact, starboard! Unidentified cruiser closing fast, weapons up!" Anton shouted.--
"Interesting we now have a friend or foe on our hands, i just hope it isnt a enemy" Halthor responded and clearly noticed the ship on sensors, Halthor was interested in how it operated and what its tactics were going to be. But now was to early. "Proceeding to power up weapons, sir." Halthor motioned and then looked at the control console and put the power to weapons along with shields going up too.
--"What the...?" Steve exclaimed sitting upright again. "Red Alert." He called, "Find out what it is, and keep us out of weapons range."--
Immediately noticing the captains new order, the red alert button was pressed and the ship was on a tactical and defensive position. It was apparent that this new enemy was clearly rushing to catch up with the USS Olympia and the crew were reacting to the new situation at hand. A enemy was about to close onto the olympia, and the olympia's crew were ready for anything.
--"Could they be after the Ambassador maybe .. Those Aides .. I don't know .. I can't get 'any' reading's from the ship yet .. We would need to let her close the gap." David noticed Lieutenant Halthor nodding in agreement,--
"We are on the limit of our weapons .. But we have no idea as to their range !" Halthor finished. Clearly puzzled halthor was and the ship was closing in fast, but had more power to it.
--"Sir .. If we put that ship directly astern .. We could launch say a class five probe in their path .. We may get some information before they over-run it !"--
The probe was now destroyed and Halthor had that look on his face again. "Sir .. They destroyed the probe .. Within five seconds of it's release." said Vander, puzzled and fixated on the new encounter. It was now reaching a speed of warp eight and the olympia was at warp 7 by the time the ship had engaged its warp.
"Warp eight!!!, you got to be kidding me. Please i hope we have more power than this so we can take that shuttle on and leave it in-operable. I recommend we increase our speed and propose a new form of action." halthor looked at the captain and waited for him to make his move up this new arrival.

Arya listened to the woman, then got a message from their captain. She read it, and sighed, then returned to the current meeting.
Once she was finished with Jackson's evaluation she stretched and got up. She noticed Nua looked restless.
"Yes, you may accompany me this time. I know you won't have it any other way. You must behave though, or the captain may put you off his bridge. Change your mind have we?" Arya said watching Nua. The toddler like companion glided onto Arya's shoulder, and she knew it wouldn't be long before her companion was flitting about with her wings. She hoped it wouldn't come too soon though.
Arya made it to the bridge and went to take her seat having to remove the captain's padd. She wondered why he would have thrown it in her seat instead of the vacant First Officer's but said nothing. She noticed they had gone to red alert, and continued to watch the scene unfold.
Arya heard something about a probe being destroyed. She didn't like what was going on, especially when the ship started to shake. She wanted to give an order, but knew better and kept her tongue in her mouth.

Steve saw Arya take a seat next to him, and gave her that 'just another day at the office' look. Then he noticed Nua on her shoulder and frowned. The bridge was certainly NOT the place for animals....and he intended to talk to Arya about that later, as well as the message on the padd that Arya had removed. He held his hand out to retrieve the padd from her.
"IF this calms down anytime soon, I would like to see you in my Ready Room. And if I don't get the chance, then I'll just say what I wanted to say here!" He said to Arya, in his usual upbeat manner. "Don't worry, it's nothing to worry about.....yet." He added, and winked at her.
The unidentified vessel was now catching them up at Warp 8. Evidently, running away wasn't going to be the answer. He had to think quickly. Things could get messy in an instant, and Steve wasn't going to let it get that far.
"Helm, elevate the ship by 20 degrees for 3 seconds then commence a full emergency stop. Let the vessel fly right under us. Begin immediate intensive scans on her as she nears. I want to know what we are dealing with. Full power to shields too." He ordered, hoping he wasnt going over the top. "Open all hailing frequencies. Lets see if they will talk."

David watched the Captain .. He was totally focused on the job at hand, so much so, that it seemed that he hardly noticed his wife as she sat down .. But he had, he spoke quietly to her for a moment before turning his attention back to the ship pursuing them ...
"Helm .. Elevate the ship by twenty degrees for three seconds then commence a full emergency stop .. Let the vessel fly right under us .. Begin immediate intensive scans on her as she passes us .. I want to know what we are dealing with .. Full power to shields." He ordered, hoping he wasn't going over the top, "Open all hailing frequencies .. Lets see if they will talk." he finished.
The Olympia rose above the Galactic plain by some two hundred thousand meters and came to a full stop ! .. There was no way the other ship could correct in time .. It flew beneath them still at warp, then it too halted it's headlong flight ...
"Take us back down Helm." Steven ordered.
As the Olympia regained her orientation, they could see the other ship powering through a one hundred and eighty degree turn to place themselves 'nose to nose' with them, and less than ten thousand meters away ...
David had moved to the Science Station ..
"We are both at full stop." he reported, "Weapons and shields at full power."
"Anything from the scans ?"
"Nothing yet .. The ships configuration is not in our database." said David.
Steven watched the ship on screen ...
"Then we play the waiting game." he said, glancing at Arya as if for support...
Almost three hours later ...
"Steven ...." Arya said quietly, "Are we going to sit here indefinitely .. One of us 'has' to make the first move."
"What would you suggest Arya .. That I go over there and knock on the window !" Steven replied, "Sorry ... " he finished, annoyed at sniping at her, he assumed everyone was thinking the same thing.
Arya touched his arm, she knew full well what he had to cope with .. Command wasn't easy, otherwise 'everyone' would be doing it ...
Suddenly Lieutenant Halthor spoke ...
"Captain .. They are powering-down their weapons .. "They're dropping shields !"
Steven didn't hesitate ...
"Drop ours ... Disengage weapons.."
"Sir ?" asked Halthor, confused.
"Do it now ... PLEASE." the Captain insisted ...
As David watched, he wondered just who would break the silence first ... Them ... Or the Captain ..........

Sitting alone in the dark was one of Rio’s favourite things after getting shot at on the holodeck. The ambassadors two aides had not moved in well over an hour, fully engrossed in a game of 3D chess, and the Senior Marine Officer had even forgotten to blink as she stared monotonously at the screen depicting them. From what she could see, the taller of the two was winning, but it was a pretty close game. She was slowly coming round to the idea that the aides might just be aides, and not some infiltrating masqueraders on a mission to destroy the ship. Still, it was always worth keeping an eye on these things, even when they didn’t move.
Eventually Rio’s elbow, which was lazily propping up her head, slid to the edge of the table and dropped off the side, waking her from her sleepy gaze. She sat up straight and stretched like a cat, deciding it was time for a sandwich. It was amazing she ate so much, considering her athletically slim build. She supposed she worked it all off in her training. Two minutes later and she returned to the desk chewing on a ham and lettuce sandwich with vigour. She flicked a few crumbs off the desk and sat back down.
“Holy…” Rio swore so loudly she thought the bridge crew might have heard. The computer screen showed two empty seats on either side of a laid chessboard. She shot out of the room at top speed, practically sprinting down the corridor to the temporary quarters. Quickly but accurately she keyed in the door code and stopped just short of the unconscious security guard slumped on the floor. She made a quick check of his vitals to make sure he would live before heading over to the computer.
“Computer locate the Vulcan Ambassador.” She ordered.
“Deck six” The computer replied.
“And the aides?” She asked with growing urgency while bobbing on the balls of her feet.
“Deck six.” She said the words at the same time as the computer, and was racking her brains again as the convenient little diagram appeared in front of her. There was one of two places they might be headed, the computer core, or the transporter room. With the ambassador in tow she voted for the latter.
“Computer beam me directly outside transporter room 1” She ordered.
“Cannot comply.” The computer said as cheerfully as ever.
Rio punched the machine. “What do you mean cannot comp –” She spluttered to a halt as she noticed the casing hanging off the bottom of the computer.
“He can do that from here? Damn…” she muttered as she was already on her way out of the room. She swept her phaser out of its holster as she darted into the turbolift, alarming several young crewmen as she passed by. Juddering impatiently she was already through the doors before they had opened properly to reveal deck six. The transporter room was only two doors away. There was no-one in the corridor except two more slumped bodies in the way. This wasn’t going to be easy.
Bending down, she scooped up one of the men’s phasers and armed it as well as the other. Taking a deep breath she swung round the door and pointed a gun at each aide. One of them was stood by the transporter controls, grinning vehemently, while the other was pointing at phaser at the disappearing form of the ambassador on the pad. Swearing again as she watched the Vulcan disappear Rio took her chance and aimed one shot at the transporter panel, destroying it.
“Oh very responsible Miss look-before-you-leap.” Said the second, shorter aide, who now had his weapon trained on her heart. While he held her under at gunpoint the other, still grinning, moved confidently over to the door and sealed it behind them.
“Over there.” He said, pulling out a second weapon and prodding her in the shoulder with it. For a moment she complimented taking a couple of shots, but she would have to get it pretty spot on. The two vulcans watched with interest as she screwed up her face in consideration before cutting her losses.
“You know, this doesn’t do much for interplanetary relations…” she commented, as he made sure she was fully disarmed.
“We’ll worry about that later.” He said with a smile.

"Lieutenant Halthor .. Keep a close eye on that ship out there .. If it as mu ......" began Captain Smith.
"Captain .. Phaser fire .. Transporter room one .. A transport has taken place Sir." said Halthor.
"What ..!" Said steven, "David .. Get down there now .. Lieutenant Halthor .. You stay here for the moment .. I may need you at Tactical if this situation changes for the worst."
David ran for the turbo-lift, edging from foot to foot as the lift neared it's destination, then almost jumping through the doors as they opened .. Setting his phaser on heavy stun, he hugged the wall as he neared the doors to the transporter room .. they remained closed as he reached them ..
=^= Tan to Bridge .. I need Lieutenant Halthor down here =^=
=^= He's on his way Mr Tan =^= said Steven, nodding to Vander.
David looked the doors up and down, hardly expecting this action to open them.
"Computer .. Security over-ride .. Authorization Tan-Alpha-Two-Two-Gamma .. Open transporter room doors.
"Unable to comply .. Doors sealed." replied the computer.
A thought occurred to Tan ..
"Computer .. Location of Vulcan Ambassador."
"The Ambassador is no longer aboard the Olympia."
"Identify occupants of transporter room." David said, shocked at this information.
"Marine Captain Rio Jackson .. Vulcan aide S'pon .. Vulcan aide T'var." stated the computer.
"OK." David said, as he saw Lieutenant Halthor, and two of his team approaching, "We need to get in there .. Rio is in there so we need to be careful !" 'She can look after herself' he thought, it didn't stop him worrying though ..
Halthor nodded to one of his men, who removed a panel next to the doors and began to re-route connections ..
David tapped his Comms badge ... taking a deep breath before speaking ...
=^= Tan to Captain =^=
=^= David .. How's it coming ? =^= said Steven.
=^= We are having trouble getting into the transporter room .. I have asked Lieutenant Halthor to get us in there but it will take time .. Captain Rio is in there along with the two Vulcan aides .. Also .. Sir .. The Ambassador has gone ! =^=
Everyone in the corridor waited for the reply ..........

Anton's hands flew over the nav console as the captain fired orders at him. He handled it fairly well, though even he had to admit his reaction time could have been much better. He would have to review this encounter during his next training session.
He manuevered the ship around to face their opponents and when he heard the order to drop shields he turned sharply. His mouth was open, as he was intent on protesting ... then he remembered his place. He was an acting ensign, given his current post by the favor of the captain. He closed his mouth and decided that the captain was the commander for a reason. When the shields were dropped and the havoc of the transporter room was reported in full, Anton kicked himself.
That was exactly why they shouldn't have dropped their shields. Especially with a diplomat onboard. If there was one thing he'd learned from his father it was that protocols involving a diplomat may not seem logical, but are usually practical. He decided to stop harassing himself for something he had no control over and started preparing for a pursuit. The opposing vessel would soon give him reason to engage in one.
"Captain, the opposing vessel has powered up their engines and are preparing to go to warp," Anton said brisquely, "Sir, they are too close, if they duck beneath us and jump to warp the shockwave could immobilize us ... "

The ship had been at red alert for hours. Mallen had emptied sickbay. If something happened, she didn't want to be busy with check-ups. They could wait. But she had been waiting, going though medical histories to keep herself busy, and nothing had happened. Some of her medical staff was starting to get anxious.
Finally, she couldn't wait anymore. She tapped her combadge. "Mallen to Bridge. May I ask what's going on up there?"
=^= We're not exactly sure, doctor,=^= the Captain replied. =^= Having a little trouble with the ambassador. Be ready though. We might be needing you once we get the aides out of the transporter room. =^=
Mallen raised an eyebrow and sat down. That could not be a good thing.

“You know, if I try really hard I could almost imagine that I’m having fun…” Rio drawled sarcastically as she leaned sideways against the wall. She was sitting on the edge of the transporter pad, using the small lip on the join as a seat and lolling slightly sideways against the wall of the room. Aide number one, stockier and slightly shorter, was still by the door, pointing a phaser at her. Actually, he was pointing two phasers at her, just for good measure.
“Don’t start that again.” Spat aide number two, taller and more sleek looking with darker hair. Despite the predicament Rio couldn’t fail to notice he also had piercing blue eyes.
“So what’s your grand plan then?” she inquired casually, as though being taken hostage was something she did every day. Thinking about it that assumption probably wasn’t far off the mark, but there was usually the added bonus of being able to stop the holodeck programs when things got messy…
“Never you mind.” Blue eyes said gruffly. He was bending down behind the transporter console attempting to rewire the shattered remains of the computer. Rio felt more than satisfied at her wave of inspiration. It had occurred to her that they themselves had disabled the site to site transport ability of the Olympia, and were stuck here with everyone else for the time being. But with the previous aptitude they had shown for reconfiguring the system hanging over her, she doubted she had bought them much time. She wished she knew what was going on up on the bridge: presumably they had transported the ambassador somewhere…
“You’re not going to fix that anytime soon…” She muttered helpfully. Shorty stepped closer to her, waving his phaser as though she hadn’t noticed he was holding it. “Where did you send take the ambassador?” She changed tactics. Usually she was not one for talking overly much, but it seemed quite fitting at the moment.
Blue eyes laughed. “Like we’re going to tell you.” He smiled, and moved round to the front of the console to continue his work. Rio watched his progress, but had little idea if what he was doing had any effect on the system at all.
”Well.” She continued, oblivious, “I figure either you’ve kidnapped him for ransom, or just to kill him off, but you seem to have gone to a lot of trouble for the latter…either that or you plan to use him in some way to disgrace the Vulcan government.” She mused aloud, making sure she made her amusement heard.
“Keep on guessing scarface.” Shorty reminded her who was boss by upping the phaser setting.
“Ooo that’s original.” She cooed. Like she hadn’t heard that insult a hundred times before. Besides, she liked to think of it more as a tattoo rather than a scar.
Further enraged by the fact that his manipulations had no effect on her, Shorty stepped closer with his weapons poised. Perhaps he was going to shut her up for good. Whatever gruesome act he had planned for her, it was interrupted by the chirping of what sounded like a comm. badge. For a moment Rio thought it might have been her own, but the Vulcans had crushed it into small pieces soon after apprehending her. To her surprise, Shorty swapped one of his phasers for a small, handheld device that looked like a smaller version of a very old communicator.
“T’Var.” He grunted. So it was a communicator.
What Rio heard next was very faint, but she could make out most of the words. “…been a change of plans…now going…Kratar…you..ervices no longer required…”
“What do you mean, no longer required?” T’Var stammered, forgetting he was covering the marine for the moment.
“Like I said, change of plans…we have all…required of you.” Said the mysterious voice on the other end. T’Var looked as though he was about to reply, but thought better of it, snapped the device shut and returned it to a pocket. Rio had to say it was a strange device for the Vulcans to be using. She wondered who on earth had been talking to him from the other end.
“It looks as though we have problems my friend.” He told the other, who was still pouring over the damaged transporter control.
“Even more?” The other asked with a raised eyebrow, and a very prominent glance toward the squatting marine officer.
T’Var nodded. “Even more than her…” He agreed. Alarm bells started to ring inside Rio’s head. Perhaps she was one problem too many. Between the two of them, they currently had four phasers. That meant she was pretty outgunned. Actually, she was very much outgunned.
Unbeknownst to the runaway aides, outside in the corridor, Tan and Halthor were only seconds away from overriding the security lock on the transporter room door. Engineering was nearly ready to realign the ship for site to site transportations. They had to admit, the vulcans had done a pretty good rewiring job, not the shoddy workmanship they were used to from saboteurs.
“That should do it.” Halthor exclaimed and stepped back from the doors as they burst open with a puff of smoke and a bang. Tan wasn’t sure what he had done, but it was impressive all the same. They leapt into the room, the security team in full force, but it was empty. One of the security team alerted them to their escape by kicking the open hatch that lead to the Jeffries tubes.
“Where do you think they would be headed?” He asked sceptically.
Ensign Tan reached slowly for his comm. badge. “Computer, seal off all transporter rooms and shuttlebays to everyone except myself and Lieutenant Halthor.” He commanded.

"Well it seems that we have a job to deal with, aides on the run and captain jackson still on the loose, i think you and I should think about a course of action." Halthor replied to Ensign Tan.
<Tag Tan>
"Excellent, now i am going to go ahead and take care of these aides while you and your team go and search for captain jackson." Halthor motioned with a nod of his head.
<Tag Tan>
The teams were off on the run and Halthor was determined to go after the aides and take care of the threat on the ship. These aides were strong and had to be pursued. With the effort of the security team this job would either be an easy one or very hard one. Halthor was determined and able. Being a andorian gave him more strength than an average humanoid. Taking on the aides would be easier than fighting off a klingon.
The more Halthor thought about it these aides were rather intuitive in that they had captured jackson in the first place but with another vulcan presence the matter was easier to ponder, in that jackson was with the vulcan abductors and the aides were now on the run.
Halthor geared himself up and motioned to the security team "Keep alert, put phasers to stun, we dont want anyone dead". The security team nodded at the order and along with Halthor they continued there pursuit. If they didnt continue then they would fail. Failure was not an option to Halthor and he wanted to see these intruders put in there place.
"I wonder what they will think of next, maybe shut down the ships system, could be very plausible considering the aides goal was to get the ambassador." Halthor was in thought and question the validity of the intruders, he didnt want to rush to conclusions, but in this situation, jackson was gone and Ensign Tan and his team were off in the direction that lead them to believe that jackson had left with the vulcan abductors.

=/\= Gone? Gone where? =/\= Steve questioned. =/\= Get inside that transporter room on the double, we NEED to find out what happened. =/\=
Things were going from bad to worse, and Steve did not like it one bit. Shakedown cruises are supposed to be non-eventful and just a way of breaking the ship in, so to speak. The Olympia still hadn't ascertained who the enemy was. 'Hopefully we can find that out now.' He thought.
"Captain, the opposing vessel has powered up their engines and are preparing to go to warp," Anton said brisquely, "Sir, they are too close, if they duck beneath us and jump to warp the shockwave could immobilize us ... "
'Damn, there goes that theory' Steve thought, getting wound up by the second. Having the ship disabled was NOT an option he was going to deal with.
"Get us out of range, and raise shelds again." He ordered, getting up ou of his chair. "Keep a track of that ship. When it goes into warp, I want you to follow it."
He turned to Arya, who was still seated. "I WILL get to have that talk with you soon, I promise!."

Up in sickbay, the doctors were doing what doctors do for fun. This meant talking about medical stuff and telling medical jokes. “…And then the cadet said to the Bolian… ‘It sounds like you have a classic case of the blues!’” Apparently this was the wittiest thing the younger nurses had heard in years. Mallen had found it funny once… about 75 years ago. Still, she participated in the conversation, taking advantage of the opportunity to meet her coworkers.
There was a beep, and Kiral looked down at her PADD. "Copule of men down outside Transporter Room 1," she announced, reading the alert. "Must have been guarding the room. Normally I'd have them beam up here, but apparently they've overridden the transporter controls."
She stood up and grabbed the nearest med kit. “I’m going to go check it out. It should only take a minute; it’s unlikely that they’re seriously injured. There are Vulcans loose on the ship; we’re at red alert. Make sure you know where your phasers are, just in case. If something happens… please let me know.”
After setting her own phaser on stun, she left sickbay and entered the nearest turbolift. It seemed to take forever to get to deck 6. The doors opened, and she found her patients instantly. She noticed that their phasers were missing. The first was simply unconscious, most likely the result of an infamous Vulcan nerve pinch. She gave him a small dose of Netinaline, waited for him to wake up, and sent him on his way. The second was also unconscious, but also suffered from a phaser burn. She gave him some Kelotane to treat the burn first, and then revived him. He followed the first man, leaving her alone in the hallway.
Out of pure curiosity, she looked in the transporter room. It was a mess. The transporter consol had taken heavy damage. The doors had been blown open, and the hatch to the Jeffries tubes had been removed. She shuddered, then turned to head back to sickbay. “Mallen to sickbay,” she said, tapping her combadge. “Everything the same up there?”
=^= No problems, doctor, =^=
“Good. I’m on my way back.”

“Ugh…” Rio rolled into the shuttlebay as one of the Vulcans shoved her forcefully from behind. She landed in a heap, but there was no time to organise herself as she was grabbed roughly from behind and dragged up to her feet. She was getting decidedly tired of their games by this time, and hoped Halthor and his men might hurry up and distract them so she could tell Blue Eyes just what she thought of him.
“Get over there.” He spat, and gave her another shove towards one of the shuttles. It was a small, neat, and expressly turned out Delta class flyer, probably the best in the whole bay. Trust them to use this one. Blue eyes followed her, not taking the eye of his phaser off her back, while T’Var hauled an access panel off the wall and began fiddling about with the wires.
“You know, you’re getting very emotional for a Vulcan.” Rio pointed out helpfully as she stared up into the alien’s frowning face.
“I am surprised anyone finds the time to be unemotional when someone like you is around.” He retorted coolly.
“Well, that’s just not nice.” Rio said in a hurt voice. Behind the sarcasm, she was itching to reach out and smash the phaser from his hand, but the chances were slim that she would be able to knock him out before he had reached for the other and blown her to smithereens. For now she just had to be patient, and hope that Halthor was all the Academy had cracked him up to be.
All of a sudden, the shuttlebay lights dimmed and then vanished. “They’re coming.” Said T’Var stepping back from the wall and giving the panel a hard thump back into place.
“Well lets get out of here then.” Complained the other, beginning to sound anxious. Sure enough, it was not misplaced. The shuttlebay doors flickered and then jumped, opening just enough to let in one man at a time. In a flash of phasers and security personnel, the room was filled with commotion. What she hoped was one of Halthor’s security team piled in, but she could not see the Andorian himself.
”Get her in the shuttle, I’ll take care of these.” T’Var ordered the other Vulcan as he dived behind another vessel. At a good six inches taller than Rio, the Vulcan stood over her, gripping onto her upper arm like a steel vice. He parried her towards the shuttle doors which were now open, and tried to push her inside.
This was the only chance she had. She swung an uppercut right into his jaw, sending him staggering backward in surprise. Before he had had time to point the phaser she had moved again, grabbing the hand that held it and twisting it over his shoulder. He fired it helplessly, shots skimming off the shuttlebay floor. The ducked collectively as they continued to wrestle, phaser fire raining down on them.
Out of the corner of her eye Rio caught sight of the Andorian security officer. He had made his way furthest into the bay and was dodging T’Var’s shots left right and centre. The smaller Vulcan himself was darting round like a madman, running back and forth and shooting in from and behind him all at the same time. He was doing a pretty good job too by the looks of things.
Distracted for a second, Rio began to loose her grip on the man’s arm. He twisted round and aimed his phaser as best he could at the Andorian. He had to duck, but it just missed him, and he returned fire immediately. True to his recommendations he made a clean hit, and Rio felt the Vulcan physically slacken in her arms as the blast hit his shoulder. Slamming his wrist into the side of the shuttle she had the phaser only inches from being dropped.
She didn’t see it happen, but felt her head slam into the shuttle with such force that she had to close her eyes and tell herself not to stop breathing. She and the Vulcan hit the floor at the same instant, thrown apart by the force of the blast. They both scrambled for the discarded phaser, but he was closer. He had it trained on her in an instant. Out of the smoke that was now filling the room the other Vulcan appeared. Between them they lifted Rio bodily into the shuttle, and dumped her semi-conscious on the floor.
“S’Pon, get this shuttle outta here now!” T’Var yelled, still shooting as the doors shut behind them. ‘So he has a name too…’ Rio remembered thinking in her hazy, foggy world.
The shuttle began hovering slowly, moving in reverse towards the shuttlebay doors. She was sure someone was trying mercifully to stop them from opening, but it was having little affect. T’Var was already back at the weapons controls, and although the shuttles phasers were tiny, firing them inside the bay was never going to be a good plan. They shot out into space at full reverse, before banking a high right and spinning to face the right direction. All of a sudden the tense atmosphere of the situation dropped all at once. The two vulcans leant back in their seats and without even a casual glance at the marine officer slumped behind them fell into friendly conversation.
“I take it you disabled their scanners then?” The Vulcan now called S’Pon asked casually. He looked back at the great hulk of the Prometheus Class Starship, that had yet to engage in persuit.
“It’ll keep them busy for a while. Their engineering couldn’t even get the transporters back online, goodness knows how long it will take them to fix the scanners…anyway, looks like they’re going after the others” T’Var mused. “I do wonder how good their navigation officer is though…” He added.
“Why?” S’Pon asked suspiciously.
“Because I left him a nice surprise….” T’Var grinned cruelly.
“So now where are we headed, Kratar?” S’Pon asked, looking over at him with slight awe.
T’Var nodded. “Of course. We must display our displeasure at being abandoned.” He explained with a twinkle in his eye.
“And her?” the other asked.
T’Var looked thoughtful for a moment, his hands playing over the Starfleet phaser. “Leverage.” He decided.

Anton's hands were already flying over the console as the captain issued his order to back off and follow. The opposing ship took off only seconds after the Olympia cleared it's wake. It was almost as if they had waited for the Olympia to move ... which did not add up to Anton, but he was too busy disengaging the impulse engines and sending the ship to warp without a proper delay. They jumped to warp with a resounding thud and a rather wicked shimy both of which gave Anton the impression that engineering would want his head on a stake when all was said and done. Unfortunately, it couldn't be helped. "Sir, they appear to be headed toward Romulan space," Anton called out, "At the current speed and heading we will encounter the neutral zone in less than three hours." <Tag Steven> (OOC: Sorry this one was so short ... couldn't think of anything else to write )

Lieutenant Halthor's men scanned the Transporter room .. It was empty .. He motioned for David, and one of his men, to enter the nearby Jefferies tube and follow that way .. He and the other's would make their way via the corridors, to the only, logical, place the Vulcan's could now head .. The Shuttle-bay ...
David and the Security Officer entered the tube.. Reaching a junction, he looked left and right. Right would take them back toward the interior of the ship, left would take them to the shuttle-bay ..
"Which way ...." David said, almost to himself.
"Whats that ?" asked the Officer, pointing to something on the floor of the Jefferies tube .. David bent to pick the object up .. It was a gold leaf-shaped insignia ..
"Well done Rio." he said, "Shuttle-bay .."
~~~~~~~~~~
David was at the hatch that would give them access to the shuttle-bay .. He could hear movement on the other side, but mechanical rather than Human .. 'The bay door maybe' he thought.
He tapped his Comms badge.
=^= Tan to Halthor ... What is your location ? =^=
=^= Approaching the shuttle-bay now =^=
=^= It sounds as if they're leaving ... We need to get in there =^=
=^= We're ready when you are David =^=
Tan signaled the Security Officer to be ready, then opened the hatch .. They were greeted by the sight of a shuttle, it was slowly passing through the force-field protecting the bay's oxygen supply .. The Security Officer raised his phaser to fire, but Tan stopped him, there was no point in firing .. As the far door opened, Vander and his men rushed in .. They watched as the shuttle veered off and out of sight.. But then .. The sight of a massive Star Ship, rising from below their hull, less than one hundred and fifty meters away, leveling herself then going to warp so close to them, was almost a shock .. The shuttle-bay door began to slowly descend, but not before everyone saw the stars sickeningly dart to the right, as their ship came about also .. Then as they stopped, the sight of the USS Olympia herself, jumping to warp ..
"We are going after them !" stated Vander, looking round the large bay, "Where's the Major ?" he asked.
David was quiet for a moment before he replied ...
"She's gone !" ..........
"Sir, they appear to be headed toward Romulan space," Anton called out, "At the current speed and heading we will encounter the neutral zone in less than three hours."
"Thank you." Steve replied, calmly sitting in his chair. "Remain on course, and alert me of any deviations that they make."
He moved slightly on his chair and it squeeked. Steve raised his eyebrows in surprise, hoping that no-one else noticed the noise and promptly stood up so that he didn't make any more noises in the chair.
'One of the problems of it being new' He thought.
With Acting Ensign Tan and Lieutenant Halthor below decks dealing with Rio and the missing Ambassador issue, and the Olympia following the enemy ship, right now there wasn't a lot that Steve could actually do at present.
He turned to face Arya, and her on her knee to get her attention. "Seeing as things are quiet up her for the moment, can I see you in my Ready Room?" He asked, with a sly grin forming.
On a lonely shuttle juddering along at its comparatively pathetic top speed, the two Vulcans lazed back in their chairs almost not bothering to keep an eye on the unconscious Starfleet officer behind them lounged on the floor. Rio had no idea how much time had passed since they had left the Olympia. She was just beginning to come round after what felt like a very long and deep sleep, except for the fact that the back of her head ached as though someone had split it open with an axe. She tried raising a hand to check that that in fact hadn’t happened, but her body was less than willing to cooperate.
She guessed it was another ten minutes or so before the world came more or less into focus. She remembered she was in a shuttle, after a firefight back on the Olympia, but the details were hazy. The Vulcans were there in the cockpit. One was called T’Var; she knew she had heard the other ones name but couldn’t remember it. Gradually their conversation trickled into her ears.
“How long until we reach the neutral zone?” The one called T’Var asked.
“A spectacularly long time.” The other one moaned. “I suspect the others are nearly there already.”
“Not to worry. We know they are taking the ambassador to Kratar, and he wont be going anywhere fast.” T’Var speculated.
“Plenty of opportunity to sabotage their plan then.” The other one grinned.
“D’Tek wont know what hit him.” T’Var agreed grinning vehemently.
Staring at their backs Rio could not really make head nor tail of it. The Neutral Zone? Why would they be going there. And the others, were they the ones that had stolen the ambassador? If they were going to the neutral zone then they were probably…Romulan? This didn’t make any sense. There had been no Romulan ships in the area. Why would Romulans want to kidnap the Vulcan Ambassador? They had said something about sabotaging their plan…Probably to get them back for leaving them behind. So that was where they were going. Kratar, to take revenge on whoever it was that was now in possession of the Ambassador.
This was turning out to be quite an eventful day.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
“Sir the Federation ship is in pursuit.” Reported an officer from the rear of the bridge. The Romulan sitting in the Captain’s chair held his arms firm on the rests at the side of his chair. His face was a mixture of grim determination clouded by the success of what they had just achieved. Stealing a Federation ambassador was never an easy task, but he mustn’t get complacent. There was still a long way to go if this plan was going to be a complete success.
“Thank you Murtok.” He replied in the end, keeping his thoughts from the crew in his usual mysterious manner.
“We’re not worried by this?” His first officer asked tentatively. The woman was seated beside him, their chairs particularly close despite the expanse of the bridge.
“Not at all.” He replied, breaking into a smile for the first time in days. “We will soon be within the neutral zone. Once we get the Ambassador to Kratar, they will not be able to find him.” He finished dramatically, a smile playing over his features. Naturally, there was always the chance that the Federation vessel would venture into the Neutral zone after them, especially as they were in a stolen ship, but for now it didn’t bother him.
“Keep an eye on them Murtok. If they get within range make sure they cant do us any damage.” He ordered the officer.
The first half of the plan had gone without a hitch. Well, unless you counted having to leave T’Var and S’Pon back on the ship, but they were resourceful, they would find their own way out. It had not been a hard decision to make really. D’Tek had been in this job a long time, and had soon come to realise that the mission objective came before everything else. That included lives: others, and his own.
“So, stage one is complete.” Hi first officer joined in the success.
“It would appear so.” D’Tek agreed casually.
“So now what?” She asked impatiently. D’Tek sighed. She was still so young. She still had so many annoying questions. It wouldn’t do to let things get out of hand when they still in early days.
“Now we wait.” He stated.
She didn’t look impressed with the answer. “For what?”
D’Tek rolled his eyes. This was going to be a long journey. “For the trade negotiations to stop. Ambassador Trevak was vital to the Thia Pact going through. Without him, our governments don’t have a hope of setting it up.” He said pointedly.
“Ok…so after that, we just let him go?” she asked.
“To coin a human phrase, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.” He said with a hearty smile, leaving her to fill in the blanks with her own, apparently undeveloped, imagination.
He had no idea why Rio Jackson's abduction had affected him this way .. He was .. Worried, frightened, for her .. Yes, he knew full well that the Aides had their work cut out for them trying to hold her, but still he was worried ... Lieutenant Halthor decided to stay in the Shuttle-bay, while not an Engineer, his technical expertise would come in handy, at the very least, giving them some clue as to where the Vulcan's may have taken Rio .. David headed up to the Bridge. Heading to the nearest turbo-lift, he was suddenly flung, violently, against the bulk-head. A loud tearing noise battering his senses for a second, before dissipating .. The ship was shaking as it tried, desperately, to drop out of warp. Slowly, once the erratic movement had stopped, David got to his feet .. He was hurt, but not badly .. He tapped his Comms badge ... =^= Tan to Bridge =^= =^= Bridge .. Lieutenant Braga =^= =^= What's going on up there ? =^= =^= Unsure =^= said Lieutenant Braga, =^= We have injured .. The Captain was with his .. With Commander Smith in his ready room .. The Councellor is shaken but will be just fine .. The Captain was knocked out .. But he seems to be coming round again now .. We have thankfully dropped from warp =^= =^= Were we fired on ? =^= asked David, wondering just what .. Or who, could have done this .. =^= No .. There was a series of what seemed at first to be explosions .. In Engineering .. Life Support .. Inertial Dampers .. Several other 'key' area's we're all but wiped out .. But it looks more likea series of Systems failures .. Someone's been tampering ! =^= said the frustrated Braga. =^= OK .. I'm going to head for Engineering .. Get medical up there .. Understand =^= David ordered. =^= Doctor Mallen is sending someone to help .. We'll be fine .. Go and see what Engineering and power we have left =^= ~~~~~~~~~~As David entered Engineering, he was almost shocked at the number people hurt, crew members were holding injured arms, holding makeshift bandages against head wounds .. Nothing serious though .. But the bigger shock ... Was the Warp core ... It was off-line' .. So no chance of pursuit. At least for a few hours .. =^= Medical to Engineering .. Doctor Mallen to Engineering =^= =^= We're on our way .. Mallen out =^= was the only reply. Looking round the massive room, he couldn't quite believe the damage that had been caused .. 'How in hell did the Vulcan aides manage to tamper with restricted systems of the ship ... It just didn't add up' he thought .. But one thing was for certain ... They had Help !!! .......... < tag : Doctor Mallen / All >
Mallen sent a medical team to the bridge, just to make sure everything was alright. She selected a few other doctors to accompany her to engineering, and hurried off. It took a bit longer than she would have liked. Whatever had happened had apparently affected the turbolifts as well. They worked, but very slowly. She was not a very patient person when her presence was required, and it frustrated her.
There was a rush of warm air as the turbolift doors finally opened, and it seemed she had stepped onto a completely different ship. Engineering was a complete disaster. She was no mechanic, but even she knew a problem when she saw it. Everyone seemed to be conscious, but there were large amounts of multi-colored blood mixing on the floor. “What the hell happened here?” she snapped at her nearest doctor. She promptly realized that there was no way he could know and apologized. He mumbled something incoherent and scuttled off to stop someone’s bleeding.
Kiral did the same, rushing from crewman to crewman. There were no serious injuries, but instead lots and lots of small ones. Other than having to reset one woman’s arm, most treatments didn’t advance past dermal regenerators and painkillers. On her way across the room to treat a Bolian with a head injury, she stepped in a tiny puddle of green Vulcan blood and almost slipped. “Someone clean up all this blood!” she ordered. “It’s unsanitary…” she paused to wipe the blood off of her shoe before continuing.
Eventually she came to David Tan, who seemed relatively unharmed. “What happened?” she asked as she scanned him with her tricorder. “Was there an explosion or—“ Kiral stopped suddenly as the tricorder started beeping rapidly around his head. “You hit something when the ship started rocking, I assume,” she said, waving an instrument around the area. “Heck of a thing, that was. Stuff flying all over sickbay. Broke a few glasses. You ended up with a minor concussive injury. Not enough to cause immediate damage, but it would have hurt a lot more tomorrow morning. But you’re fine now.”
Mallen quickly looked around the room. Most injuries had been taken care of, and her staff could handle whatever was left. She supposed she had a bit of time to talk. “I suppose those Vulcans had something to do with all of this. Word is that they kidnapped Rio.”
“Yes to both,” Tan replied. He shook his head and sighed. “And by the time we get this mess cleaned up, they’ll be long gone. They completely screwed up our systems.”
“Well, I’m no engineer, but if there’s anything I can help you with, you know where to find me. I just hope you won’t need me for any more medical reasons.”
"I'm sure you can give me something to keep me on my feet Doctor .. At least until we can get underway ... " David said, and watched as Kiral placed a hypo on his arm, "Is there anyone in here that can't stay and work .. If so have Security move them .. Into the corridor for now if necessary."
"Well ..." said Mallen, looking round the room, "We have a broken arm .. A serious concussion .. A fractured hip .. The rest you can have."
Tan nodded, motioning to the two Security Officers stationed at the door.
"Doctor Mallen needs some help .. Do what you can .. Thankyou."
David scanned the room, people were getting to their feet, checking consoles, getting back to work .. He walked over to a Lieutenant and checked the screen he was using ..
The Lieutenant noticed his companion and sighed..
"You 'did' say let you know if there was anything we needed down here .. didn't you." said the Engineer, moving so Tan could read the screen easier, "We are getting systems back .. It's taking time but we're are now stable and we have Impulse power .. As for warp drive ..." he said quickly, seeing Tan about to ask, "Three .. Maybe four hours .. Minimum."
'The Captain isn't going to like that, but the option to get out and push, was always there' David thought wearily.
"Life support .. Comms .. Weapons systems ....." he asked.
"Whoa ! ... We are doing all we can .. Life support is OK .. Partial Comms on the upper four decks including the Bridge .. But as for weapons .. No way .. Low priority at this point in time Lieutenant .. Besides .. They're useless without the core on-line anyway."
"Sorry .." said Tan, knowing that full well, he also knew, that due to necessity, he was pushing the staff !...
He tapped his Comms badge ..
=^= Tan to Captain =^=
=^= Go ahead Mr Tan .. He can hear you =^= said Arya, throwing David for a second..
=^= Sir .. We have suffered a massive cascade systems failure .. We are stable .. We have impulse power but no warp drive for at least three hours .. I'd love to know just how they managed it ... =^=
=^= We'll have ask them then =^= said the Captain caustically, =^= Full impulse .. Go after the ship =^=
=^= And the shuttle ? =^= David asked, already knowing the answer.
=^= It will have to wait .. The Ambassador is our priority .. Get us moving David =^= Steven finished weakly .. So David tapped the Comms badge once again ..
=^= Tan to Lieutenant Braga =^=
=^= Braga =^=
=^= Full impulse .. Same heading as before .. We're going after the Ambassador =^=
=^= But at full impu ....... =^=
=^= The Captain is fully aware of how long it could take .. But hopefully the warp drive will be on-line quicker than the estimate .. This way we are at least moving in the right direction .. Tan out =^=
David thought about their Senior Marine Officer with the Vulcan Aides .. Idly wondering 'who' would fare better .. Then he turned back to the Lieutenant to see what help he could be ..........
Anton was nearing complete exhaustion. He'd been awake for nearly three days now and his shift had been over two hours ago. However, he would be damned if he was going to leave his station at a time like this. A crew should have their top pilot, not a rookie at the wheel whilst chasing kidnappers! Eventually, he realized how much ego it took to a make a statment like that ... even an interior statement like that ... and a big part of him regretted it. He wasn't that good ... he just had connections. That very thought put an excessively sour expression on his face and caused him to nearly start cursing everything in sight when he realized that engine power was fading.
"Sir, the warp core is offline, we are slowing to impulse," Anton called out, "I suggest we launch a shuttle with a security team to continue in pursuit!"
It was a marine tactic and was generally rather efficient, but starfleet security and starfleet shuttles were rather different than marines and marine shuttles. For one thing, marine shuttles were designed for battle ... starfleet shuttles, in Anton's opinion, were designed to look pretty. However, it was at that point, the only chance they had to keep tabs on the ambassador and with him, any chance of recovering Rio.
"Sir, I volunteer to man the shuttle, sir," Anton said, turning and leaping to his feet before the captain, a momentary boost of adrenaline making him appear much more awake and alive than he probably was, still it was his idea.
Steve's head was spinning and throbbing. When the ship's systems had gone down and caused the entire ship to shake, he had lost his footing while standing with Arya and fell to the floor, but not before knocking his head on the desk. After a few minutes he sat up and tried to find his bearings.
His head was still spinning and he tried to take a moment to let everything register when Mr Tan sounded through on the comms. Apparently most of the ships systems had gone down including warp drive. So Steve told David to carry on pursuit of the enemy ship at impulse. Yes it was going to take a lot longer to follow them, but as it stood right now, they didnt really have a lot of choice.
Arya was holding Steve steady and making sure he didnt fall over. He put his hand up to signify that he felt ok, and tried to walk. He didnt get very far before he fell against his chair...but it WAS further than what he thought he was going to do.
"Ya know, I never did get to tell you what I brought you in here for." He said to Arya. Aware that he would be needed on the Bridge or elsewhere, he tried to make it brief. "Basically, to cut a long story short," He carried on, moving towards the door to the bridge. "Starfleet have granted me the authority to place you as my XO. So the job is yours if you want it!" He paused for a second and smiled before entering the bridge, leaving the words to sink in to Arya.
Steve staggered out, unnoticably and pretty much fell down into his chair. As he did, the CNO turn to him.
"Sir, the warp core is offline, we are slowing to impulse," Anton called out, "I suggest we launch a shuttle with a security team to continue in pursuit!"
Steve squinted, trying to take that all in. It took a few moments for the words to register. With how he was feeling now, he could say things easily, but having them said back was a bit trickier.
"Sir, I volunteer to man the shuttle, sir,"
Having a shuttle chase the ship? On the one hand, it would be a quicker way of catching up to them, but then on the downside, it could also be quite dangerous. Still, it was only going to take about three hours to get the warp core back online and they could get right back up there.
"Ok Mr Braga. Take a fully armed team with you, plus at least one medic as well." Steve wasn't really in favour of the idea, but it was better than just moving along as they are now. "Hopefully, we will catch up with you in a few hours. Get going." He ordered and closed his eyes, trying to shut away the pain.
Anton smiled at the captain and nodded, "Aye, sir."
He then noticed that the captain didn't look so good. At first he thought maybe it was his own exhaustion mirrored back at him ... but it was always better to be safe rather than sorry.
=^=Braga to security, please send a squad of fully armed personnel to shuttle bay one, we will be in hot pursuit and they may expect heavy combat=^=
=^=Aye, sir, we a bit depleted in numbers sir due to injuries, but there are more than enough marines hopping up and down for the assignment sir ... =^=
'If there is one thing that can be said about starfleet security,' Anton thought with a smile, 'They certainly do have a sense of humor.'
=^=That will be more than acceptable.=^=
=Aye, sir, security out=^=
Anton looked at the captain and happened to notice that he appeared to be a bit ... unhinged, more so than he was previously. He decided to go for broke.
"Sir, If I may say so, sir ... you don't look so good, perhaps I could escort you to sickbay while I attain my medic?" Anton offered, the captain could always defer the offer, but it was one way that Anton could make himself useful at the very least.
Arya was quite shocked at what Steve said and it took a minute before she smiled. She headed back out to the bridge and then heard what 1st Lt. Braga said.
"An excellent idea, sir, you should have that looked at. I do want the job, and will take it now if you have no objections," she said keeping the last part where he could only hear. She stayed standing just in case he objected to it, but she doubted he would. Arya also hoped he would go to sickbay and get his head wound looked at.
"No, no....I'll be fine." Steve said looking at both Arya and Lt Braga. He then turned and looked towards the viewscreen. He noticed something out of the corner of his right eye, and turned to look. Standing there were 4 pixies with wands, waving them about. He smiled at them and turned back to Arya. She looked at him quizically.
"Don't you seem them...." Steve started, and pointed to where the pixies were. Arya shook her head. "It's just me isn't it?" He asked, and Arya nodded. Sighing, Steve tried to stand up, taking several attempts to do so.
"Alright, fine...I'm going." He grumbled. "As of right now, you are in command until I get the all clear. Congratulations." He went to pat Arya on the shoulder and fell into his chair. "Damn." He said, with his face embedded in the chair seat.
Pushing himself up once again, Steve made his way towards the turbolift. "Let's go." He called out to Lt. Braga.
