The ship rocked, Tiberian instantly ordered phaser fire, but the Nekori ship was simply more agile. It weaved back and forth, firing at the Olympia ..
The hits were having an effect, nothing drastic, but they were still reducing the shield strength.
"Weapons." David ordered, "Full spread of photon torpedoes .. Low yield .. Have them detonate five thousand meters off our bow .. On my mark."
"Ready Sir."
Tan watched as the tiny vessel made yet another darting run at the ship, then as it passed their port nacelle and began it's tight turn ahead of them, David spoke ..
"Fire !"
The torpedoes fanned out in front of them, the Nekori ship, obviously unconcerned, continued it's turn .. It was caught in the blast from six torpedoes detonating at once .. The Olympia too shook, but her shields too the punishment. It was more than could be said for the attacker.
It was now floating in space, rotating through at least two axes at once ... Vander scanned the ship and reported that they were trying to re-start their warp drive. Weapons, along with their artificial gravity and inertial dampers were off-line ..
"They must be being thrown about like hell in there." Someone at the back of the Bridge commented. David agreed, and ordered the tractor beam to be put on stand-by .. Then requested an open channel ...
"Nekori vessel .. This is the USS Olympia .. Cease all attempts at activating your engines .. We will stabilize your ship using a tract ......."
The blinding flash of light lasted only a second or two !.. But as it subsided, it was obvious the Nekori ship was gone ...
"What the ....." Tan said, glancing at Steven Smith.
"It wasn't us Captain." he assured instantly, "It was more likely them trying to re-initialize their Matter / Anti-matter that caused the explosion." Steven finished, turning back to his read-outs.
"Scan the area .. Thoroughly ! .. I don't want surprising like that again." David ordered, discreetly wiping beads of sweat from his temples.
"Sir." said the Opps Officer, "There's no way that ship could have destroyed the Nimoy." David turned to look at Steven, "It simply didn't have the fire-power to do such damage .. Even a direct hit from their phasers on the un-shielded Nimoy would have given them time to fire back or even get their own shields up .. No .. Something 'much' bigger did this .. Maybe that was just a scout ship."
David thought for a second ..
=^= Bridge to Transporter room =^=
=^= Ensign Derby =^=
=^= Ensign .. Beam several pieces of the Nimoy into cargo-bay two .. Large enough to work on =^=
=^= Aye Sir .... Parts of the saucer section .. Outer and inner sections of the main hull .. Partial Engineering bulkhead sections .. All beamed in Captain =^=
=^= Very well .. Thankyou =^=
"Bezan can get some of his team down there once were under-way .. And see if they can find anything thats going to help us." Tan said.
"Agreed." Steven and Vander said.
"OK .. There's nothing more we can do here .. Leave a signal buoy so Star-fleet can locate the debris site .. Helm .. Get us on course to follow that warp trail."
"Course locked in Sir." said the duty Navigation Officer.
"Warp five .. Lets go !" David said.
The Olympia once again leapt into warp. This time, David hoped, they would find people to save, rather than another graveyard ..........

After several days on the Olympia Crystal was finally starting to settle in. She had got her quarters sorted, met her staff, set a couple of experiments running, caught up on her reading and written five more paragraphs towards her thesis (making a total of half a chapter done).
--------------------------------------------------
It was early and Crystal was up and at it. She had read and reread the available data on the Nekori several times and, as well as giving herself some nasty dreams, she had concluded that what wasn't in the notes was as important as what was. You needed a theory before you started on experiments, what was theirs?
"Commander Smith and Ensign Rose to the bridge please. We have approached the debris field" The FO's voice came over the comm system. Crystal acknowledged the order, grabbed the PADD that had her current list of unanswered questions on it and headed for the bridge.
She took her station and started assembling as much data as possible, she'd never seen anything like it and if she could put the deaths that went with the wreckage out of her mind for more than a second it was very interesting. Things didn't normally continue to burn, in space, for days.
At the call of 'red alert', Crystal gripped her station for a second, her knuckles turning white. She swallowed hard, she knew in any sort firefight her job was to stay out of the way and let those who knew what they were doing, do it. She set a few more scans running. She wanted every last particle out there analysed.
The ship shook, Crystal ignored the raised voices on the bridge, something was coming out of the masses of data that was accumulating. The Nimoy was in pieces and she tried not to speculate on the amount of organic debris she was analysing, there was something else there as well.
"OK .. There's nothing more we can do here .. Leave a signal buoy so Star-fleet can locate the debris site .. Helm .. Get us on course to follow that warp trail."
"Course locked in Sir." said the duty Navigation Officer.
"Warp five .. Lets go !" David said.
Crystal triple checked her figures and then swallowed and turned to the Captain.
"Uh, Captain Tan, Sir. I picked up some particles in the debris field that I can't account for. I've checked the Nimoy's specs and cargo and I can't find anything that would cause this, Sir. As far as I can tell it was some sort of metal alloy but i haven't seen anything quite like it before. I'd guess that something else went up with the Nimoy, Sir"

The bright light dissorientated Bezan a little more than he had wanted it to. After had finnished seeing purple spots in front of his eyes. He heard the last of several requests from Captain Tan.
"Bezan can get some of his team down there once were under-way .. And see if they can find anything thats going to help us." Tan said.
"Aye Sir" Bezan replied and tapped his comm badge. =/\= LT Trul to engineering, Could Ensign Battersby and Ensign Peters report to the transporter room you are to assist Ensign Rose in any way she needs Trul out =/\=
After that he assessed the damage and minor drop in the shields but that shouldn't take much to sort out. So he remained on the bridge engineering station to monitor the ships running from there.
As they travelled to their new destination following the warp trail left by the Nekori. He felt the tiredness catch up with him, but he managed to stay awake, the addrenalin rushing through his body and the anxiety of what they might discover when the got there. This must be what it was like to be a starfleet officer.
The time passed in an awake state but it was not a normal awake state, he appeared to be more alert, it was just his body that required rest. His mind was well awake and ready for what danger or situation may arrive.

As Daniel picked himself from the floor he looked around to see he was not the only one, he had been worried he had slipped into a day dream and not noticed the call to go to red alert. Daniel watched as the battle unfolded, hating the feeling of being powerless to do anything but he watched the new crew members to make sure they were okay, which they looked.
As the battle ended and the Olympia began to make her way following the warp trail, Daniel began to check that everyone on the bridge was good, Bezan looked a little dazed but after falling over that was to be expected, everyone one else was fine ‘another day at work’ was a line that fit their faces.
As time progressed Daniel considered why such a small ship challenged one with a great advantage to itself, and did it self destruct or just blow itself up by accident. This questions spun round in his head, the second he could not even think to answer, that would be science and engineering to find the answer, but the first there were a few possibilities, 1 they were trying to see how good we are, 2 they were trying to slow us down, or 3 they were trying to hide something. All the other possibilities that sprung to his mind were too weak to truly hold to, and he had no doubt that was what his new CO was thinking when he asked for detailed scans and the debris to be transported aboard, as all pointed to a possible fresh attack.
Deciding he could do no more on the bridge he choose to walk the corridors and see that the crew were holding up, which he had no doubt, it was more so he could think more clearly.

With the Olympia at warp following the warp trail of the other vessel, Steve took a moment to relax and think a few things over. As far as he was concerned, David was performing his duty as CO very well, and so far, in his opinion, the outcome would have been the same had he still been in command. Yes, it's early days....but so far, so good.
He took a look down at himself and his uniform. He was out of Command red, and back in the gold of Operations. He hadn't worn that colour since his days as CTSO on the El Salvador. It will take some time to get used to again, and knowing his luck, when he does get used to it, he will be back in red again.
Steve knew that this mission now belonged to David, and as much as he trusted his judgment and his ability as an officer, he still felt that something may happen that could be catastrophic and leave serious questions needing to be answered. Steve had said to himself the moment he came up with the switching idea that David would be given full reign, and that they would only switch back when they were both in agreement. There was no way that Steve was just going to take command again just because he wanted to, or because something minor went wrong. Things happen to him when he is in command, so its logical that they will happen during this mission too.
The only drawback that Steve could see was that David was the Chief of Operations....a position that Steve didn't really know about or deal with. He had been a CTSO all his career up until he became an Executive Officer, so this was new territory for him...pretty much in the same way as it was for David.

With the battle done and the Olympia back on course, Tiberian watched over Trul's shoulder as he drew up a damage reprot of the ship at the engineering console and began to co-ordinate the minor repairs. When he was done, Tiberian said. "Come on Lieutenant, let's see what the Nekori have left us to go on"
<TAG Lieutenant Trul>
He then called over to Ensign Rose, who had just finished speaking with the Captain. "Miss Rose, would you care to join us, we're going to examine the hull debris"
<TAG Ensign Rose>
Together the three officers proceeded in the turbolift down to cargobay two, where a small combined team of engineers and science offciers had gathered with tricorders to prod at the wreckage. Tiberian wandered off from the other two officers, allowing the experts to do their jobs, whilst he wandered amidst the rubble, trying to make sense of it all. Smith had been right, there was no way that the scout vessel could have inflicted this degree of damage on the Nimoy by itself. The duranium composite hull was scarred and charred, with its integrity reduced to that of porcelain in some places. Another thing that Tiberian noticed, was that Trul had been correct in his description of the weapon. The edges of some of the hull fragments still glowed a vicious spitting orange where the weapons effects had yet to wear off, the effect being truly reminiscient of 20th century napalm. It was this large section of engineering bulkhead still being broken down by the weapon which attracted Tiberian's attention. The other officers had gathered around it too, waving their tricorders and spouting theories. TIberian drew his own tricorder and examined it pondering the results. He ifnally addressed Trul and Rose. "The readings I'm getting are so varied its impossible to say what's what. The initial signature is plasma based, but everything after that is randomised. My theory is that this is smoe sort of anti-matter weapon, breaking down the hull at the subatomic level. The plasma energy burst at the beginning of the weapon burst must just be to provide activation energy for the main charge to do it's work. What do you think?"
<TAG Trul/Rose>
Tiberian nodded thoughtfully. "I can see where you're coming from with that. But regardless of what it is, if we come up against it, even the Olympia's shields and ablative armour may not be able to take too much punishement from it" Just at that moment, a crewman who had been edging ever nearer to the bulkhead was suddenly thrown onto his back with a blood curdling shriek. In his efforts to get close ewnough for a high resolution scan, he had been struck in the face by a flying spark of the still active phaser weapon. Tiberian rushed forwards, immediately followed by the other officers, and set about prying his hands apart from his face. The orange glowing reaction was burning a hole in his flesh, and had already worked on exposing the mandible. "Everyone back off now, get out of the cargobay and seal it off!" Tiberian shouted angrily, sending the officers scurrying. Above the screams of the crewman, he hit his commbadge and bellowed. =/\=Wong to transporter room one=/\= =/\=Transporter room one here, sir=/\= A calm voice answered. =/\=Emergency site to site transport. Two to beam directly to sickbay=/\= A transporter beam embraced them, and moments later Tiberian and the writhing crewman were on the floor of the sickbay, with the Trill doctor and her staff moving towards them. "He's been hit by some sort of catalysing energy weapon" Tiberain told them, having the man onto a biobed "For God's sake don't get too close to the energy, it can react with almost anything"

"Aye sir, should we bring our new CSO, i mean i'm an engineer i can tell you whats damaged and a possible how? But i can't tell you by what exactly"Bezan suggested, Tiberian called ensign Rose over and they proceeded to the turbo lift. Bezan had barely spoken two words To Ensign Rose since she arrived so he took this chance to welcome her. "Sorry i havn't said hello Ensign, but it's been Hell since we left, so i would just like to say it now." Bezan said with a welcoming smile, true he said it with major Wong in the middle but that was the best welcome he could come up with for the moment. As they arrived and entered Cargo Bay two, it appeared that the Debris had attracted quite a fanfare, The science and engineering officers Bezan and Rose had sent down and a few others. Major Wong joined in on the fun and started scanning with his tri corder. What do you think?"Bezan looked at the tricorder and tried to work out the readings in his head. "Sir, looking at the debris and the readings it does look like the initial blast was just the punch through, but how do we know the ship was not carrying some secret antimatter weapon?" It hated him to suggest it but anything was possible in this universe. Bezan and Major Wong both smiled inside and simultaneously turned to look at Rose. They had been traveling for over a day, chasing down the people that had kidnapped and murdered Federation citizens ... David was in his ready room, he'd been going over the reports sent up by Ensign Trul .. The weapons damage was unique, unheard of by the Federation. As he read the Comm beeped ...
=^= Go ahead =^=
=^= Sir .. Commander Halthor .. I need you on the Bridge .. We're closing on .. Something =^=
=^= On my way =^= Tan said, getting up.
On the Bridge, he went over to Tactical.
"What have you got ?"
"Captain." Vander said, frowning, and not quite sure if he was seeing what he was seeing, "We are coming up fast on approximately twenty seven small objects ... Sir .. I think .. No I'm certain .. They're bodies."
"Bodies." David said, thinking he may, hoping he may, have heard the CTSO wrong.
"Yes Sir .. I'm positive."
"ALL STOP !" David said instantly.
The massive Prometheus class starship dropped from warp and in seconds was at a complete stop. He told Halthor to double, no triple check his readings now they were stationary. But there was no doubt .. Twenty seven bodies were drifting in open space. How they got there was obvious .. David tapped his Comms badge ...
=^= Tan to Sick-bay =^=
=^= Sick-bay .. Mallen =^=
=^= Doctor .. I need you to go to Cargo bay one .. Take a team with you .. We're beaming .. Twenty seven bodies there now =^=
=^= Bodies .. Human .. From the mirage ? =^=
=^= I'm assuming so Doctor .. =^= David said, frustration growing within him.
=^= On my way .. Mallen out =^=
Commander Smith came over from his station, respectfully standing to one side, along with the Olympia's Exec', as Tan ordered the bodies beamed aboard. then told Halthor to scan the area thoroughly ...
"Captain .." Steven said quietly.
The three men moved to one side, it afforded them a modicum of privacy ..
"It's got to be the Nekori .. We know that." Steven said, Wong nodding agreement, "But have they done this as a warning or to simply slow us down .. Give themselves time to bring re-enforcements maybe ?"
"Do you have any advice ?" Tan asked, knowing that if they had some, it would be offered .. But the COO merely shrugged slightly, shaking his head, "You're doing everything I would have done given the same circumstances."
=^= Mallen to Bridge =^= The Doctor sounded ill ...
=^= What did you find Kiral ? =^= asked David.
=^= Captain .. You don't want .. to know .... =^= Kiral was obviously having great difficulty speaking, Tan heard someone retch in the background, =^= They've been .. All the bodies .. People .. Have been mutilated beyond anything I've ever seen before .. Limbs .. Internal organs missing ... Captain .. There are eight children here =^=
The Comm went dead, understandable, given what the Doctor must be looking at ...
David walked back to the Command area, then almost collapsed into his seat, and held his head .. What was going through his mind he'd never utter out loud .. After a few seconds, where everyone on the Bridge, including Steven and Tiberian, gave him time to compose himself, Tan came to a decision ...
"Helm .. We still have their warp trail." it wasn't a question the duty Navigation Officer would have wanted to answer in the negative ..
"Yes Sir."
"Get after that ship .. Warp eight point five."
The Helm Officer looked at David for confirmation of the order ..
"NOW !" he almost shouted.
The Navigation Officers' head snapped round to face her panel, and a second later, the ship leapt into warp ..
As the Olympia arrowed through space in pursuit of the Nekori vessel, David knew he would make them pay for what they had done .. He wouldn't allow another human being to be butchered .. They would never suffer and die in such a manner .. No matter what he had to do !! ..........

"Miss Rose, would you care to join us, we're going to examine the hull debris" Crystal turned to see the first officer addressing her. She nodded and joined him and Lieutenant Trul in the turbo lift. She mentally added a few more things to her list of unanswered questions.
"Sorry i haven't said hello Ensign, but it's been Hell since we left, so i would just like to say it now." the Lieutenant said. Crystal smiled. She knew what he meant. "Pleased to meet you too Lieutenant."
Cargo bay 2 was a hive of activity when they arrived. The wreckage was just sitting there, parts of it were still glowing. She was to say the least intrigued. Two ensigns in gold looked her way as she walked into the room. She guessed that these were the ones, Peters and Battersby was it? who had been asked to assist her, they had apparently made it here from the transporter room. There wasn't much to do at the minute but try to get as much data as possible.
"The readings I'm getting are so varied its impossible to say what's what. The initial signature is plasma based, but everything after that is randomised. My theory is that this is some sort of anti-matter weapon, breaking down the hull at the subatomic level. The plasma energy burst at the beginning of the weapon burst must just be to provide activation energy for the main charge to do it's work. What do you think?" Major Wong asked
Bezan looked at the tricorder and tried to work out the readings in his head.
"Your shout Ensign" Bezan said
Crystal swallowed as two pairs of eyes turned towards her. She shook off her nerves, stood up straighter and spoke.
"My opinion sirs, is that you'd need a a very large source of power to carry a weapon like this due to the energy requirements of keeping it stable and contained for any length of time. As far as I can tell the reaction once started will consume just about anything and so far we have no means of stopping it. I also don't believe the scout ship's explosion was due to a weapon like this destabilizing, the energy signature was completely different." She took a breath and made a conscious effort to slow her words down. "A plasma activator seems likely but I don't think much energy would be needed. What's puzzling me most at the moment is how this reaction was kept contained long enough to get it to the Nimoy." "I can see where you're coming from with that. But regardless of what it is, if we come up against it, even the Olympia's shields and ablative armour may not be able to take too much punishement from it"
At that moment there was a scream. Crystal glanced round. A crewman who had been edging ever nearer to the bulkhead was suddenly thrown onto his back with a blood curdling shriek. In his efforts to get close enough for a high resolution scan, he had been struck in the face by a flying spark off the still active phaser weapon. Two to beam directly to sickbay=/\= A transporter beam embraced them, and moments later Tiberian and the writhing crewman were gone
Crystal followed orders and left the cargo bay making sure her staff were out first. Then she leaned on a bulkhead and slid gently down it to sit on the floor. She was fighting to keep her breakfast down. The sight of that crewman's face being eaten by the reaction was definitely in the top three worst things she had ever seen. She hoped he would be all right. Crystal gradually calmed down and then shook her head, they still had to figure out what had happened here. She turned to the chief engineer.
"Lieutenant, shall we go and look over this data else where, sir?"

Having left the doctor to finish the treatment of the crewman, and having decided to let the engineers and scientists draw up an appropriate guess of the Nekori weapon capabilities, Tiberian walked to the bridge. His manner of arrival was a little strange, given that he opted to employ the jeffries tube system in order to exercise, rather than using the infinitely more convenient turbolift. His entry onto the bridge was marked by a few officers leaping back in surprise, as he emerged from a hatch beside the rear engineering console, standing, brushing himself down, closing the hatch behind himself, and then moving to sit in the XO's seat as if he did this every day. He was flicking through a variety of studies on antimatter based weapon theories, when Commander Halthor at tactical drew his attention away from his monitor. "Major, sir, I've got something on long range scanners, but I can't quite make out what exactly they are. They're right in the centre of our flight path" "Increase scan resolution and maximise sensor intensity" Tiberian ordered, getting increasingly curious. "Done sir, but it's still sketchy. I think I can make out organic signatures though" Halthor replied. "This is getting too peculiar" Tiberian said under his breath, now glad he had ordered a maintained yellow alert "Call the Captain to the bridge and increase scan resolution and frequency" He switched the screen on his monitor to personally see the sensor data. Within minutes of the Captain arriving on the bridge the Olympia had stopped, twenty seven corpses had been beamed aboard, and the doctor and her team sickened at the desecration by the Nekori. The Captain snapped at the navigation officer, getting them back into a warp 8 pursuit, before returning to his ready room. Tiberian looked after him for a moment, before returning to his seat and switching the monitor view to the internal sensors of the cargobay containing the bodies. Tiberian was a marine, and had spent his life around wounds and bodies, but even he had to swallow, supressing a strong urge to retch. He touched his comm badge. "Doctor Mallen, you and your people don't have to be in their any longer than absolutely necessary. You can transport them into stasis chambers, and have the computer try and match them with the Nimoy's manifest. Wong out" That done, he stood and walked towards the Captain's ready room. "The bridge is yours Mr Smith" he said, as he entered without chiming first. His arrival obviously shocked the Captain, who lookedup from his desk. "Sir" Tiberian said as he moved to look out of the window, his hand absentmindedly tracing the edge of the desk "I just thought I should mention, it doesn't do to have your emotions get the better of you in front of the men. As a leader there's nothing wrong with making emotional decisions or being open, so long as you're choosing to be like that. Snapping at people because you're vengeful , and losing sight of the big picture, that's when it gets dicey" Tiberian shrugged as he moved back in front of Tan and came to a semi-formal attention "I don't know of any particular reason why I said that, I just thought i would" a wan smile passed briefly over his face. "Anyway sir" Tiberian pressed on "I came in to discuss a sensitive matter off the record. In regards to when we catch up with the Nekori, sir. I realise given Starfleet regs and Federation ethics, you could never lawfully sanction this, sir, but I would just like to know if you would have any objection if my men were to" He coughed "Get the mistaken impression that a shoot to kill policy was employed around the Nekori until they surrender, sir. I jsut don't want any of ours to end up like those going into stasis, sir"
<TAG Captain Tan>
"As you say, sir" Tiberian concluded "If you will excuse me sir, I'll go and try and come up with some defences against the Nekori antimatter weapon" He walked out of the door and into the turbolift adjacent to it. He touched his commbadge. "Would Lieutenant Trul, Ensign Rose and Commander Smith please meet me in the science lab on deck 5 at their earliest possible convenience"

David got a strong coffee from the replicator and sat at his desk ... He had been there, staring blankly at the screen before him, his coffee untouched, when the door opened ..
"Enter." Tan said, unnecessarily.
"Sir .." Tiberian began, moving toward the window ...
David listened in silence to what the XO had to say. He had informed both Commander Wong, and Commander Smith, at the start of the mission, that their council would be welcomed. It seemed that now was the time that Wong felt he had to speak ..
Once he had finished, he stood silently in front of the desk, seemingly waiting for Tan to reply ..
"Commander .. Tiberian if I may call you that .. I fully appreciate your thoughts on my conduct out there .. It was unforgivable .. Some situations are beyond the norm and as such generate stronger emotions than usual .. I want all my crew to feel they can 'express' themselves .. to a point of course .. But again I must apologize to you for my own conduct .." David said.
Commander Wong was nodding in acceptance of Tans explanation as David continued ..
"Now .. As for your 'request' ...." Tan stood, trying to get his thoughts straight, "This is at your request off the record .. I expect you and your 'men' to act in full accordance with Star-Fleet regulations .. No-one .. And I DO mean no-one is going to be going over there culling the Nekari .. Do we understand each other Commander ?" David finished.
"Sir .. Yes Sir." Wong said, inching toward attention.
"We all feel the same I'm sure Tiberian .. But just as I need to show I'm not letting personal feelings interfere with the mission .. So do you .. But bare in mind .. I don't want any more of out people hurt or killed if we can help it .. So do whatever you need to once we get you over there .. just don't go overboa ...... !"
"As you say .. Sir" Tiberian concluded the sentence for the Captain, "If you will excuse me .. I'll go and try and come up with some defenses against the Nekori antimatter weapon." As the Exec' was leaving Tan spoke, making Wong turn in the doorway ..
"How are the Medics coping ?"
"Not well .. I've seen the images myself .. Butchers simply doesn't cover what they've done to our people ....." with that, he turned and left the Captain alone with his thoughts ..........

"Interesting" was not the right word for the chaos in sickbay after the Nekori attack. It took a while for everyone to relax. Just as they finally did, there was another problem-- Major Wong and a screaming crewman that Mallen didn't recognize beamed into sickbay.
The crewman blacked out before Mallen needed to sedate him. She managed to enclose the energy reaction in a very small containment field. It burned it out and further harm to the face was prevented , but there had already been a lot of damage. "He's going to need cosmetic surgery," Mallen informed her staff.
"Some of you get on that, please," she said before replying to their temporary captain.
She rounded up three doctors and two nurses, and they left for the cargo bay at once. Every one of them was completely unprepared for what they would see. Mallen had experience with bodies. She had been required to familiarize herself with the anatomy of many species and performed autopsies countless times during her medical training. Bodies didn't bother her.
Or so she thought.
The "shipment" materialized in the cargo bay right as her team arrived. The smell alone was almost unbearable. Kiral approached the nearest body carefully. She heard someone throw up behind her, but didn't turn around.
One of Mallen's previous host's, Orris, had spent some time on Vulcan. He had learned to control his emotions expertly, and Kiral retained some of that ability. At that moment, she needed every bit of strength and discipline she had to walk among the dead, quietly and efficiently.
She left the cargobay before tapping on her combadge to address the captain. Most of her emotional control was abandoning her.
Kiral and her team were thankful. She contacted the transporter room and had the bodies transported. Her voice was almost breaking. Her legs suddenly weakened beneath her. She slid down the wall into a sitting position and took a few minutes to cry silently for the dead.

Bezan and rose had been studying the data for hours, and they still knew it was an antimatter weapon of somesort but they couldn't pin point anything else. Ensign Rose did the testing and Bezan Recorded the data and helped rose decipher it. This was not bezan's fortey though, he was an engineer. He knew that the ship was blasted and the one blast was enough to slowly destroy the ship, but it looked like there was more than one point of entry from the weapon.
Bezan got up and went to the replicator. "Two Coffee's" Bezan said and the replicator complied. Then he went back over to Ensign Rose and placed one cup in front of her, she smiled in appreciation and took a sip.
"Have we got anything else on the weapon?" he asked. he liked the young Ensign she was always determined, they must have done dozens of tests and if the first one didn't give the answers they needed, they did another.

"Would Lieutenant Trul, Ensign Rose and Commander Smith please meet me in the science lab on deck 5 at their earliest possible convenience"
Since they were already there, bezan tapped his comm badge.

Crystal was in her lab and working on a difficult problem, under other circumstances this would have been one of her favourite activities. She was determined to get to the bottom of this.
She looked up gratefully as a mug of coffee was place in front of her. She took a sip and pondered the last negative result. She was sure she was missing something. She was grateful for Bezan's help, this may not have been his usual thing but he was doing great job and she knew she wouldn't have got this far without him.
"Have we got anything else on the weapon?" he asked
"I think we are looking at a multi stage weapon we can get the blast patten of debris scatter from just two stages. How about this: step one weapon latches on to the Nimoy. Step two plasma reaction sets going several matter/antimatter reactions, either heat or charge based ignition. Step three some of the reactions as scattered inside a casing that will eventually be eaten through. I don't know if it'd work but it'd give us a main blast point and then secondary points." She thought for a further moment "The alloy particles I saw in the debris field could be consistent with a nearly completely consumed outer casing." She shrugged "It's something else to test. I just wish we could find something this reaction didn't eat, might give us more of a hint of what we're dealing with."
She heard the First Officer's request over the comm. While Bezan replied she starting setting another lot of test parameters. It might not be the greatest theory in the galaxy but it was the only one they had at the minute that hadn't been shot down in flames. She downed the last of her coffee, scrubbed a load of stray hairs out of her face and set the simulation running. Crystal looked around the lab quickly then sighed and kept reading over her data. The answer had to be here somewhere.
Bezan glanced at his screen waiting for the new recordings to come in. Crystal was waiting: both his feedback on this new experiment and for the XO and Commander Smith to arrive. The new data started scrolling. It was actually looking hopeful.

It had been a little while since the XO's call for Steve to go to the science labs. Steve had been a little tied up with things on the bridge, but he made his way down as soon as he could.
While on his journey, Steve began wondering about how the mission was going. What had started out as simple, had turned into something much more complex. Trying to focus on the mission at hand, he sped up his approach to the Science lab. If he was being called to the labs, then he knew that progress, no matter how small, had been made.
Upon entering, he saw Lieutenant Trul and Ensign Rose, and before he could stop even stop himself, he blurted out; "So, have we made any progress at all?" Steve stopped himself, and went a bit red, remembering that for this mission, it wasn't his place to be giving out orders and requesting reports and such. "My apologies....we should wait for the XO."
Steve then approached the nearest desk and leant against it. "I guess I can ask this though: How are you both settling in on the Olympia?" He asked, preferring to be talking, rather than be in silence while he waited for the Major.

In the three days that followed, Major Wong had drilled and re-drilled the Marine contingent on board the Olympia .. Due to the ship not having a Marine Officer, Wong was working with the ranking Marine, Staff Sergeant Mike Derbyshire .. Mike was tough on his men but Wong knew him to be fair .. They had run through most scenario's and some un-conventional ones for good measure ... David was in the turbo-lift as the Comms chirped .. =^= Bridge to Captain =^= =^= Captain =^= he replied. =^= Sir .. We have the Nekori vessel on long-range sensors .. We're catching them fast =^= The turbo-lift doors opened to the Bridge as David replied ... "Put it on-screen." he ordered, sitting in the Command chair, "Get Major Wong and Commander Smith back up here please." The duty Opps Officer put out the call for Tiberian and Steven, while setting up the station so Smith could see immediately what was happening. "Magnify .. Times four." David said. There they were .. The ship was big, even at this range he could see that it was at least three times the size of the Olympia, maybe more .. but size wasn't everything. The Olympia could hold her own ! "Are we within Comms range ?" Tan asked, as both Steven and the Exec' stepped out of the lift and took their places. "Yes Sir .. Barely." "Open a channel." Steven did so, nodding to Tan they were ready. =^= Nekori vessel .. This is Captain David Tan of the federation Star ship USS Olympia .. You are carrying Federation personnel .. Drop out or warp and come to a complete stop =^= "How long before we catch them ?" "Twelve minutes Captain." said the duty Navigation Officer. =^= Nekori vessel .. We intend to get our people back .. If you will not slow to a halt we will have no option but to slow you ourselves =^= Still nothing from the other ship .. But David knew better than to get annoyed, he would work through this problem like he would any other .. "Tiberian .. Are you ready to go over there if need be ?" David asked his XO quietly. "More than ready Captain .. In fact i'm going to have difficulty getting people to stay behind." Wong assured the Captain. "OK .. Well I think it's going to come to that .. Get a team set up and have them wait in the transporter room." Tan looked at Commander Smith, working at Opps, "Steven could be useful." David prompted. "He's on my list Sir." Wong replied, already mentally listing the people he would take on the away-mission. "Four minutes now Captain." the Helm Officer pointed out. "Match speed .. Keep us behind them and arm photon torpedo's." The Olympia slowly edged closer to the Nekori ship, then tucked in behind their warp field, matching the other ships' velocity ... 'They can run ... But ....' David thought, as he watched the ship ahead .......... < tag : Tiberian / Steven > OOC : OK, Tiberian & Steven will shortly be setting out on the away-mission .. Anyone want to join them ?

"I guess I can ask this though: How are you both settling in on the Olympia?" Commander Smith asked.
Crystal replied that she was settling in fine and made a real effort not to babble too much. Bezan said that he had settled in as well. At that moment Crystal console beep. She looked at the data and gave a shriek of delight. "I think we are finally getting somewhere, sir" she said.
The XO arrived shortly there after and Bezan and Crystal gave a fairly concise report on the results of the experiments so far. They were close to determining the mechanism by which the device worked. Were still unsure on the precise type of reaction used to 'eat' the Nimoy but were working on a number of possibilities and most importantly were coming up with counters for each of those possibilities. Of course they could use more time.
During the following three days Crystal practically moved in the Lab, the coffee mugs piled up as she, Bezan, and various members of the engineering and science staff worked on the problem. They cracked the mechanism problem on the first day. Bezan's technical knowledge proved invaluable in refining their theories further. Halfway through the second day, they were down to five possibilities for the reaction. when Crystal was escorted back to her quarters for a nap having fallen asleep over her console in the middle of writing a report. She grabbed a couple of hours of rather disturbed rest and a fresh uniform before getting back to work. A day or so later they had come up with something that seemed to fit all available data.
The reaction was so theoretical that it didn't even have a proper name, it was just 'variant S'. Crystal knew there was a good research paper in this but at the moment was far more interested in finding a way to keep it away from the Olympia's hull. It seemed that they could retune the shields to keep it away in the first place, this did have the side effect of making them more vulnerable to energy weapons. More important was the discovery that a forcefield could smother the reaction if caught early enough, if not it could at least be contained.
Crystal prepared her update report carefully and then checked it through twice. she knew she was tired and was awake only on caffeine. She saved the report and sent it to the XO, Commander Smith, Bezan (who was back in his own department) and the Captain. She yawned and wandered back to her quarters for another nap while she could. There would be more to find out.
OOC: don't know how much use Crystal will be on this away mission but you can send her.

It had been three days since the studies in the science lab had begun, and whilst it was not yet complete, the research was looking promising. Trul and Rose had thrown up several complex theories, and given his scientific impotence, Tiberian had decided to leave them to get on with it. Instead, the Captain had introduced him formally to the senior Marine NCO, Staff Sergeant Mike Derbyshire, and together they had immediately restarted the near unceasing round of scenarios and probabilities. On the third day Tiberian had ordered the men to get some rest and relax, all of them being eager to get into battle. It was not so much the aggressive nature of the Nekori that worried TIberian, but more the inexperience of his men combined with their over enthusiasm. He prayed silently that his fears would be unfounded. And so he sat quietly in the corner of the crew lounge, watching the off duty personnel causally converse whilst he toyed with his Landras blend coffee in front of him. As he mused on the Nekori situation, a familiar face came and sat beside him. "Jose" Tiberian said similing as he lifted his cup to sip the sweet and bitter brew. "Sir" the Sergeant Major responded quietly, he too sipping his coffee. "I know why you're here, and you know full well that would be an abuse of my powers" Tiberian interjected before martinez could open his mouth. "I am the highest ranking enlisted Marine aboard" Martinez responded hotly "And I have more that thirty years of experience. What does Derbyshire have, ten or eleven at the most?" "He's assigned, you're not until your transfer comes through. You're an unofficial observer until I tell you otherwise" Tiberian responded coolly, although Martinez made sense. "And what if I resign and re-enlist as a private?" Martinez was beginning to get stubborn. "Then I would consider a raw recruit too inexperienced to come on a rescue mission" Tiberian smiled "Look, if you come, Derbyshire nose gets put out of joint, and I can do without the hassle" Martinez sighed, and Tiberian knew the right thing to do was relent "Alright. You're onboard, but you don't have your own team. If anything, you're just my aide de campe, and you can act as my second. Fair?" "Fair enough" Martinez drained his cup "Fancy a wight session before it all kicks off?" "No, nearly six days of relentless exercise is quite enough fo..." =/\=Major Wong to the bridge, we are approaching the Nekori=/\= Tiberian and Martinez exchanged glances before surging from their seats and sprinting to the turbolift. There they met Commander Smith, and together they emerged onto the bridge. Hails were not responded to, and Tiberian was shocked by the sheer scale of the Nekori vessel. This size, coupled with their weapons was going to prove no walk in the park for the Olympia. "Tiberian .. Are you ready to go over there if need be ?" David asked his XO quietly. "More than ready Captain .. In fact i'm going to have difficulty getting people to stay behind." Tiberian assured the Captain. "OK .. Well I think it's going to come to that .. Get a team set up and have them wait in the transporter room." Tan looked at Commander Smith, working at Opps, "Steven could be useful." David prompted. "He's on my list Sir." Tiberian replied, already mentally listing the people he would take on the away-mission. So far, roughly twenty marines and ten security personnel were on his list, not to mention a variety of the senior staff. "Commander Smith" Tierian turned to the ops officer "Finish what you're doing and meet us in the ships armoury in five"
<TAG Commander Smith>
Tiberian and Martinez re-entered the turbolift and headed for the armoury. "Wong to Derbyshire. Staff Sergeant, if you could please get the away team assembled in the armoury now, I'm coming in to go over the plan" He tapped his comm badge again ince the channel had closed. =/\= Wong to Doctor Mallen, would you please report to the armoury as soon as possible, I think we could use a medic on this mission=/\= A moment of thought later, and Tiberian added =/\=Wong to Lieutenant Biers, would you also mind reporting to the armoury, we could probably use a counsellor as well=/\= Martinez gave Tiberian a sideways glance as they exited the turbolift. "The counsellor?" He asked. "We could use him, and at the worst he's an extra phaser" "At the worst he's an extra target" Martinez grumbled quietly, but loudly enough so that Tiberian could here him. The two entered the armoury, and Martinez called out. "XO on the deck, ten hut!" The Marines and security officers came to attention, as Tiberian moved to the holoprojection table in the centre of the room. "OK ladies and gentlemen, here it is. We beam in in three teams, one at the base of the ship led by Staff Sergeant Derbyshire, one near the main engine room led by myself, and one near the upper decks led by Commander Smith" Tiberian nodded at Smith who had just entered and approached the table "The top or Blue team will try and knock out the bridge crew and try to take control of vital systems. Failing this, they will plant spatial charges on all key power relays they come across whilst trying to locate the civilians. These charges will be a distraction for our escape plan should we have to evac. My, or Red team, will attempt to storm the engine room, hopefully knocking out their engines and weapons systems and giving the Olympia a fighting chance. Failing this, or on its completion, we will then sweep the surrounding decks for the hostages. Staff Sergeant Derbyshire and his, or Green team will pursue a search and destroy method, sweeping the ship a deck at a time, eliminating all opposition, and with the sole aim of recovering the hostages. Full kit and weapons will be worn, and all teams will have a small complement of transporter buffers and spatial charges. When we have secured the hostages, we will blow out all the charges, and use the transporter buffers along with the Olympia's cargo transporters to beam us and the hostages out en masse. Any questions?" "Hell no sir!" The resounding chorus went through Tiberian, raising his spirits. "Alright then, transporter room one in five, lets move it on out" The meeting dispersed, just as Mallen and Biers entered. "Hello there" Tiberian said, fastening his flak jacket and backpack "Mr Biers, if you would accompany the Commander, Doctor Mallen if you would come with my team. The Sergeant Major will see to your equipment.
<TAG Lieutenant Biers/Doctor Mallen>
Five minutes later the thirty five man team was crammed into the transporter room. Tiberian adjusted his rifle to the heaviest stun setting as he looked at the doctor and counsellor, clearly not one hundred percent confidnt in their phasers. "Don't worry" Tiberian comforted them "Just aim the pointy end at the Nekori and press the button. I'm a twelfth generation marine and it's all I do" He raised his voice for the whole rrom to hear. "Last minute gear check. Rifles, phasers, flashbangs, smoke, PG's, comms, buffers and charges. We're on a thirty second standby for full penetration" He tapped his comm badge. =/\=Major Wong to bridge. Captain, the assault team is ready on your order for thirty second deployment=/\=

Mallen and her team had returned to sickbay in low spirits. The mutilated bodies were in stasis, and so, with the help of the computer, the doctor identified the corpses one by one. As she had suspected, they were consistent with the manifest of the Nimoy. She grimly reported this news to the bridge, and then began autopsies. She idly wondered what horrors the rest of the crew had endured, and hoped (likely in vain) that some had somehow escaped.
When Kiral was about three-quarters of the way done with the autopsies, she received word that her presence was requested on an away mission. She had some extra time, so she finished the autopsy of one of the children (though the cause of death was obvious). She took another few minutes to gather some essential supplies.
“I’ll be fine,” she assured them all on her way out the door. “Finish those autopsies, I want a full report by the time I get back. Saris, you’re in charge,” she said, motioning at a Vulcan. Then she left to meet up with Major Wong. She encountered the counselor along the way, going the same was she was, but neither of them were in the mood for small talk.
Kiral checked to make sure that the equipment provided was satisfactory. It was-- there was enough to perform minor surgeries. Then a phaser was thrust at her, and she accepted it grimly. She held the weapon in one hand and her tricorder in the other. After the day’s previous events, she was ready for almost anything.

=^= YOU WILL LEAVE .. Our system .. NOW =^=
The Comm boomed throughout the Olympia .. The voice was so loud it was almost painful ..
David motioned for a Comm to be opened and replied ...
=^= This Vessel will not allow you to ta ....... =^=
=^= If you fail to reverse your course .. We will execute the remaining hostages .. You will gain nothing but the destruction of your ship .. Now LEAVE this SYSTEM ! =^=
"Sir ..." Vander said, frowning, "I think they're starting to power-up some sort of weapon .. They are pouring a hell of a lot of energy into a system I can't identify."
"Lock phasers on that area and also their propulsion and FIRE !" David ordered, not wanting to suffer the same fate as the Nimoy.
The phaser banks lanced almost pure energy across the void between the two ships. Piercing the weak shields like a hot knife through butter, they found their targets ..The weapon, whatever it was, was now disabled, and as the phasers hit the engineering section, the Nekori warp drive failed causing the ship to first drop into normal space, then slow to a stop ...
The Olympia shadowed the other ship's speed, coming to a halt some two thousand meters to aft and starboard ... Without warning, the enemy ship fired phasers at the Olympia, battering her shields and throwing Officers and crew about like rag dolls ..
"FIRE on those banks NOW." ordered Tan, getting back to his feet.
"Sir .. They were attempting to send out a signal .. I've managed to jam it but i'm not sure how much got out." Halthor said.
"Keep an eye on that Commander .. I don't want them getting help."
=^= Tan to Wong .. How are you doing down there ? =^=
=^= Shaken Sir .. But good to go on your order =^=
=^= Stand-by Major =^=
"Sir .. I'm detecting ninety seven human life-signs on the Nekori vessel .. Not all in one location .. Scattered about the ship .. Sir ..... I think several are in what could be their Medical center .. Judging by the signals i'm getting." said the duty Science Officer, sounding as if she were about to be sick.
"Send the information to Major Wong and his teams." David said, then glancing round as he received no reply, saw the girl just looking down at her panel, "Now ensign .. Send the Information to the away teams."
"Yes Sir .. Sorry Sir." she apologized reddening.
David could understand her feelings, but this simply wasn't the time, or place, for them .. He asked for a Comms link to the Nekori ...
=^= I want all our people back on this ship within the nex ......."
As he was speaking, an object began to materialize on the floor in front of them .. It was a body .... No .... It was what was left of a body they had obviously been 'using' ...
"Get someone from Sick-bay up here." David said, then tapped his Comms badge ...
=^= Tan to Major Wong =^=
=^= Wong Sir =^=
=^= Beam over there now .. Remember our discussion Major .. There is to be no massacre .. But I want our people back .. Be careful over there Tiberian .. We have no idea what they have in way of defensive capabilities =^=
=^= Aye Sir ... Understood =^=
David waited for confirmation of the first teams' successful transport to the enemy vessel ..........

We have no idea what they have in way of defensive capabilities =^= =^= Aye Sir ... Understood =^= "This is it people" Tiberian called out as the space battle raged. The communication had come in and all were now prepared for the assault. "Commander Smith and Blue team, onto the transporter padd, move, move, move!" The 12 men crammed onto the padd, and Tiberian tipped the nod to the transporter technician, beaming them over to the Nekori ship. "Green team next Derbyshire" Tiberian ordered as soon as the padd was empty, pushing forward eleven men who were summarily transported away. Once the padd was cleared, Tiberian led Red team onto the padd, flanked by Mallen and Martinez. The transporter beam embraced them, and moments later they were onboard the Nekori battlecruiser. The corridors were tall and wide semicircles, with the walls a deep bronze adorned with consoles and open power cables and relays. The lighting was low, with purple signal lights flashing either side of the corridor. A thick layer of smoke came almost knee high, and a deafening klaxon sounded every few seconds, indicating that the Nekori were aware of their presence. "Charleston" Tiberian called as he raised his rifle along with the others "Take point. You two behind him, the rest of us in the centre, and you two watching our six" The team deployed swiftly and efficiently, with all of them activating their rifle lights to compensate for the darkened corridors. "Medical centre is down there and on the left. The engine room is directly two decks below that" Martinez informed him, gesturing with his rifle. "Let's move it people" Tiberian ordered as the column began to move towards the engine room. A few paces later and a five man Nekori team came around the corner. They were a green skinned race, all tall and with shocking white hair. Their red eyes were highlighted by thick black make-up, and their black leather uniforms were simply an addition to their intimidating physique. They drew their disruptors and fired quickly as they ran forwards, green nadion beams sizzling through the air around the team. "Scatter and return fire!" Tiberian yelled as he pressed forward to Charleston's position, firing two consecutive phaser pulses. One hit home, felling a Nekori, whilst another caused a nearby panel to explode. Charleston managed to shoot another, as did Martinez and another marine. The fifth turned and made a move to run, but Tiberian planted a clean shot in his back, sending him down to the deck. "Press forward, double time" Tiberian led the men forward in a slight jog, their rifles raised to encounter the Nekori ahead of them. Two more were shot as the team ran forwards, until they rounded the left hand side of the corridor, encountering a makeshift barricade. The corridor was blocked from side to side by a mixture of boxes, biobeds and general debris, behind which nearly a dozen Nekori fired rifle shots at the marines. One man took a shot directly to the chest, and flew back dead, as Tiberian threw his body weight backwards, knocking those behind him over, and preventing them from rounding the corner. Martinez lay on his belly, and, braving the Nekori fire, crawled forward to retrieve the dead marine's body, dragging it back around the corner. "Set up spatial charges along these power relays, there, there and there" Tiberian ordered a security officer who hled the case of spatial charges. The Nekori were too good, and they needed to have a viable escape plan pretty soon. He unhooked a photon grenade from his flak jacket and prepped it for a high yield explosion at a three second delay. He stood, and edged towards the corner, the grenade in his right hand and his rifle in his left. He exhaled twice quickly, and then turned the corner. He fired his rifle haphazrdly at the barricade, aiming to distract the Nekori, whilst he activated and threw the grenade. As he moved back around the corner a Nekori pulse caught him grazingly along the right hand ribs, leaving a searing black trail that was already cauterized, causing Tiberian to swear in pain. He dropped to the floor, lying on top of a shocked Mallen as the other marines and security officers ducked for cover. The explosion went off, and a fireball passed over the head of the crouched personnel before it receeded. The firing had stopped, and the team slowly rose to their feet. Just then, more Nekori came from behind them, and more from opposite them, just as the firing from down the corridor resumed. "Orders sir" Martinez looked to Tiberian as all of them levelled their phasers. Tiberian thought back to his conversation with the Captain, but given the circumstances, chose to re-interpret his orders. "Waste the motherf......!" Tiberian's final word was drowned out by a cacophony of phaser fire, but the men got the message. Facing all three ways, they rounded the corner, firing backwards, forwards and at the barricade simultaneously. They advanced at a sprint, killing nearly a dozen Nekori before leaping the bodies and remnants of the barricade and entering the medical centre behind it. As they poured in they realised they were too late. A Nekori scientist was working a console, and nearly a dozen humans beamed out of the room, leaving only ten behind. The two guards present were cut down by phaser fire before they could raise their weapons, and Tiberian stunned the scientist before he too was killed. The screaming of the ten or so women and children was clearly audible through all this, and Tiberian moved towards them, bellowing. "Federation Marine Corps, we're here to rescue you, stay calm!" He turned to Martinez "Set up the transporter buffers and some more spatial charges. And set a man to weld the door shut, we need time" he shouldered his rifle and tapped his comm badge. =/\=Wong to Derbyshire, status report=/\= =/\=Corporal Nedras here sir. Staff Sergeant Derbyshire is wounded pretty bad, and we lost one of the security officers. We got about six of the people from some sorta holding cell, but then the Nekori just came in on us. We barricaded ourselves in ome kinda auxilliary control room, but I don't know how much longer we can hold out=/\= The Bajoran sounded worried, and a variety of phasers and thumps could be heard in the background. =/\=Just sit tight corporal, Set up your transporter buffers and spatial charges and wait for my signal to evac. Wong out=/\= He touched his comm badge again. =/\=Wong to Smith, how are you doing Commander=/\=
<TAG Commander Smith>
=/\=Wong to Olympia. Captain all the team have gotten bogged down. We've rescued a little over twenty in total, but the majority got beamed out of the medical centre before we could get in here. The Nekori are too numerous and too well armed, sir. If you want us to press on, we'll need more men and equipment, but given that we've already suffered fatalities, I recommend to evac and rethink our game plan, sir=/\=

David almost sprinted to the transporter room .. Major Wong had managed to get a group of hostages back to the Olympia, but there were still some eighty plus people to free ...
They had lost members of the crew. While this was unacceptable, it was something that in this case, couldn't be helped .. They were vastly out-numbered, and the Nekori didn't want to give up their prize ..
But Tan was more concerned with the 'way' the away-mission had been handled .. He needed to speak to Major Wong .. Now ...
"Sir .. We need to get back over ther ......." Wong began. But David interrupted him ...
"Major .. I'd like to see you in my ready room in five minutes." he said, looking down at the injured before turning away.
"But Captain .. I nee ......."
"Five minutes Major !" Tan said ...

The chime sounded and David stared at the door for a second or two before speaking ..
"Enter .. Take a seat Major." he said, as Wong came in, "I need to send you back over to the Nekori vessel Tiberian .. But there's something worrying me."
"Sir ?" Wong said, Though he knew what was coming.
"I'm not questioning your ability Major .. I've read your record .. You are an accomplished Marine Officer .. But .. You are also a Star-fleet Officer and will be expected to act as such .. Your comment .. Which i'm not about to repeat as I'm sure you know what i'm talking about .. Is not becoming a Star-fleet Officer .. I'd appreciate it if you didn't use it again .. Now .. We need to ge ......."
=^= Bridge to Captain .. The Nekori vessel is beginning to move away =^=
Both Tan and Wong jumped up, Wong reaching the door a fraction of a second before the Captain as they ran onto the Bridge.
"Follow them .. Do they have weapons and shields back on-line ?" the Exec' questioned.
"No .. No weapons or shields." said Halthor, checking his panel for confirmation, "They only have impulse power .. no warp drive." he finished.
"Where do they think they can go then .. We're just going to follow them." said the duty Helm Officer.
"Major .. Take a team small back over there .. I want their propulsion disabled .. Stop that ship in it's tracks and ensure it won't be going anywhere anytime soon .. OK." David finished.
Tiberian nodded then as he headed for the turbo-lift, tapped his Comms badge ..
=^= Major Wong to assigned special Operations away-team .. Assemble in the transporter room immediately .. MOVE =^=
As the doors closed, David watched the Nekori ship. It was almost limping along at a snails pace ..
"What's our heading ?" he asked curious.
"If we stay on this course .. We will 'eventually' reach the planet Providence .. The original destination of the colonist's .. But at this speed it will take us forty seven days to get there." said the Helm Officer ..
"Providence ..." Tan said quietly, "They are going to have re-enforcements there .. Thats why they're trying to get to the planet."
=^= Transporter room .. Has Major Wong and his team arrived ? =^=
=^= On the pad now Sir .. Transporting =^= said the chief.
"Good luck Tiberian." David whispered ..........

Daniel woke from his sleep to hear the comm activate =/\=Wong to Lieutenant Biers, would you also mind reporting to the armoury, we could probably use a counsellor as well=/\= jumping out of his bed he quickly dashed to get changed and then ran to the armoury. As he entered he was given orders to join Commander Smith for the away mission and was handed a phaser by a marine, Daniel shifted as he looked at it and was shocked when he heard the XO speak to him and the doctor, “Don't worry" Tiberian comforted them "Just aim the pointy end at the Nekori and press the button. I'm a twelfth generation marine and it's all I do". Nodding he prepared himself to go.
"Commander Smith and Blue team, onto the Transporter pad, move, move, move!" quickly stepping up onto the transport pad he watched as the Transporter room changed to a bridge like room. Quickly lowering he moved behind a nearby consol as passer fire began flying across the air. Daniel could not work out who was winning; he suddenly became aware of a security officer next to him motioning him to go for the entrance of the bridge. Doing as he was told he made his way with the others towards one of the locations that the hostages were being held.
He waited outside while the marines took control of the first chamber with hostages, Daniel was thinking ~in what will these lot be in~ and began preparing methods of helping them to allow them to move with the group if necessary, when he saw the marine look out from the room to find him. Nodding he spun round and entered the room and saw shocked by the faces of the women and children that were in the room, he could not see any men except for those of the Olympia. Moving to the group in the middle of the room who were nervously watching the marines around them, kneeling close to them he put his phaser on the ground to show he was not a threat, although he wanted to get it away from him.
“We are from the Federation Star Ship Olympia, we are here to rescue you” smiling softly he reassured the nearest woman and the children seemed to be clinging to the nearest adult to them, looking up he saw Commander Smith near the door motioning him to pick up the pace. “Are you able to walk?” he questioned the group most nodded and one of the oldest spoke “we can” nodding to her, he stood up and she rose up bringing the rest of the group. Turning to the door he saw everyone who had been outside move to block the door and the phaser fire started outside.
Picking up his phaser he motioned the group to move to the far side of the room, and he looked to the Commander to see what he was thinking to see they were in some trouble. It was then that the Commander stated they were getting out, quickly moving to the group he set up the transport link for the hostages, “ready to go sir” he shouted to Steven to see a phaser beam catch him on the edge of his arm and he fell to the floor, he then felt the transport move him back to the Olympia. One of them marines called for a medic, Daniel felt a strong burning sensation in his arm as one of the doctors moved to treat him.
As he lay on the biobed in sickbay he looked round to see Doctor Mallen, “how are things going Commander, no one seriously injured I hope?”

“These few were fortunate,” Mallen informed the counselor while mending his arm. He had only been grazed; the wound was really just an abrasion. In moments, Biers wouldn’t even remember the pain.
Kiral motioned at the group of rescued hostages. “The Nekori hadn’t started… working on them yet. But there are a lot more that were missed.” She closed her eyes tightly, as if trying to block out bad memories. “You’re going to be busy, Counselor. These people… they’ve lost close friends, they’ve lost family. The people we rescue, the people I cure, fix… none of them will ever be the same.” She pitied the counselor, being partly Betazoid. She wondered if he would be able to feel, to see their grief. The doctor knew that she would never be able to handle that sort of thing.
“There. You’re fine. There’s another away mission. I’d like to be there, in case we find someone in need of immediate attention. I’m sure Major Wong wouldn’t mind you coming along, but if you’d rather stay here with the rescued, that’s perfectly understandable.”
Several minutes later, Mallen was once again on the transporter pad, surrounded by marines, with her phaser and tricorder out and ready. The transporter activated, and Mallen was back on the Nekori vessel.

Crystal was woken by shaking. At first she thought she was in another earthquake. Then she realised that she was on board ship and starships didn't usually shake. She dragged herself out of bed and checked what was going on with the computer. The Olympia had been fired upon. She scrambled into a clean uniform and downed a mug of strong coffee. Then she headed for the bridge.
The duty science officer, an ensign who also worked engineering, seemed inordinately pleased to be relieved. As Crystal took her station she realised why. The Nekori vessel had been caught and there were human life signs on board. There were also others now as teams from the Olympia were on board. She heard the XO's message to the Captain and silently wished them all luck. She set about scanning the Nekori vessel on every frequency she could think of. It seemed that the Olympia had all ready done her some fairly serious damage. Crystal barely noticed the goings on on the bridge, save that Major Wong appeared briefly so apparently he at least had got back all right.
Crystal muttered under her breath, the ship was on the move and she couldn't quite keep a high-res sensor lock on it. She heard Commander Halthor inform the Captain and then the order go out to follow and to destroy its engines.
Crystal managed to get the sensor lock she was after and started scanning for the mysterious alloy particles she had seen earlier in the debris field. Unsurprisingly there was a large concentration leaking from one of the phaser burns, more surprisingly was the high concentration of particles around the engine section. She swallowed hard.
"Captain Tan, sir. I think they are storing the unactivated weapons somewhere near their engines. Major Wong and his party should be careful. I don't know if a hand phaser could set it off but I am pretty sure a charge or an explosion would do it, as could the Olympia's phasers"
Crystal lapsed into silence as the Captain thought about this. He then started issuing orders. She turned back to her screens determined to isolate this weapon, there had to be a way to detect it before it ate you alive.
