Sonak looked up from her kneeling position, her hands still outstretched to balance Hepta as he stepped out of his suit. She shot the Cardassian a look of pure hatred, as she waited for him to speak.
"Hello captain," the Cardassian spoke, and to her surprise his voice was quite pleasant, even though it held a dangerous note. 'Nice ship you have here."
Sonak chose not to reply to him, and instead continued to help Hepta out of his suit. He was her first priority, as well as the safety of her crew. Yet, she was fully aware of the danger they were in. Once Hepta was free from his suit, she looked up at him again. "It would be good if it stayed a nice ship," she spat at him, "but so far you have done a nice job of nearly destroying us. At least we seem to have taken a few of you down in the battle that apparently has happened."
The Vulcan pointed at the debris visible on the main viewscreen. "What is it you want," she finally enquired, her voice cold and her green eyes filled with hatred. She stood proudly at her full height now, though she was still a full head short of the Cardassian's height. Her face was a mask of contained fury, as she watched the Cardassian and waited for his next move.
From the corner of her eyes, she saw one of the Cardassians grab at Lucy, who's eyes were filled with fear. "Do not touch her!" Sonak spat, turning to face the offender, "she is just a child, and a civillian. Leave her alone!"

Gul Ra motioned for his men to secure the bridge before any crew members decided to try and be heroes.
"...she is just a child, and a civilian. Leave her alone!"
Gul Ra pushed Commodore Sonak back as she tried to push her way past Gul Ra to protect Lucy from the unwanted advances of the Cardassian males.
"Lets not be too hasty Capt," Gul Ra stopped for a second eying the Commodore's pips, "Ah, you're a Commodore, this certainly has gotten interesting."
Gul Ra looked into the eyes of the Commodore and saw the hate in her eyes. This intrigued Gul Ra who found it rather strange that a Vulcan was showing emotions, no matter at what level it was.
"Gentlemen, please secure all the stations, lock down the bridge. I will be in my ready room." Gul Ra said flashing a quick arrogant smile in Commodore Sonak direction as he walked past her.
Just as Gul Ra passed Sonak he noticed an older man sitting down in the command chair. He was unsure how this elderly man almost escaped his normally sharp eyes.
"What do we have here?" Gul Ra said looking down at the old man, "An Admiral. Today must be my lucky day."
Gul Ra decided he did not want to retire to the read room just yet. He wanted to flaunt his superiority out in front of the entire bridge crew. He rather enjoyed pushing the buttons of Starfleet officers. It was a well known fact most Starfleet officers hated Cardassians and Gul Ra wanted to make sure they had one more Cardassian to hate.
Gul Ra finished walking around the bridge and stopped behind the command chairs. He slowly pulled out one of his knives from the bottom sheath attached to his forearm. A lone security officer noticed the blade and quickly tried to disarm the Cardassian. Gul Ra saw the officer and thrusted his blade into the man's neck. The officer feel down the ground chocking on his own blood.
"I hope we all understand each other." Gul Ra said breaking the silence on the bridge."

~Lock down the bridge?~ Sonak wondered, as she noticed the Cardassians did put some space between themselves and the half-Tellarite girl. ~how are they going to manage that without my command codes~ She gazed sideways at Hepta, who was now sitting in her command chair. Obviously, the old admiral was angry as well, but he seemed to make it appear as though the entire scene was of no interest to him. "Are you all right sir?" she asked softly, as the Gul walked away a few paces.
<Hepta>
Standing back up, she turned to face Lucy. "Do not fight them," she ordered softly, "and give them no cause to harm you. Your mother would never forgive me if anything happened to you."
<Lucy>
It would indeed be foolish to give the Cardassians cause to harm them, as the young security officer had just shown. Shoving the Cardassian Gul out of the way, she knelt down beside the human male. "You killed him," she said coldly, as she got back to her feet.
Her mind was racing, and she wondered if there were only Cardassians on the bridge, or whether there were others elsewhere in the module. Turning her back on the Gul, she tapped her combadge. "O'Malley, shut down engineering, on the double," she ordered quickly, then addressed the computer. "Computer, emergency lock down," she spoke quickly, as she turned again and gazed defiantly at the Cardassian, "override sonak-zero-one-nine-november-alpha-zero."
<O'Malley>
=^=Lock-down acknowledged=^= the computer replied, and then fell silent then and there, shutting down all computer-tied consoles and blackening their screens.
Sonak smiled to herself, and waited for the next course of action the Cardassians would take. She knew soon Mercury and Discordia would arrive, but in the mean time she would have to make sure that the enemy would not get at their classified files, and certainly would not find out about their cloaking device. Fortunately, the device had been offline the entire time, and nobody had made mention of it. She knew for certain the engineers would never mention it, not even under torture.

=^=Lock-down acknowledged=^= the computer replied, and then fell silent then and there, shutting down all computer-tied consoles and blackening their screens.
"You should not have done that." Gul Ra said getting into Commodore Sonak's face.
Commodore Sonak stood silently, anger began to build up in Gul Ra as the superior attitude of the Vulcan started to show through. Gul Ra took a quick look at the main view screen and saw the other section of the ship starting to come closer.
"There is not time for this." Gul Ra said sending a single backhanded slap across the Commodore's face, "Give me back control of the ship." Gul Ra demanded.
The Vulcan stood silent. Gul Ra pressed his com badge on his left wrist to open a channel to his ship.
"I think you will see things my way Commodore, " Gul Ra said grabbing Sonak's right arm, "Energize."
The two beamed away in a flash and rematerialized on board the bridge of Gul Ra's ship. Sonak was shocked when she quickly realized where she had been transported to.
"Commodore, you have a choice. Give me back control of the ship, or I shall destroy it right now."
Sonak stood stunned, her hand still pressed against her cheek. The Cardassian was still holding on to her right arm, and in a wave of fury she yanked it free from his grip. She wondered why exactly he had taken her, where the logical choice would have been to take Hepta as he was the most senior officer aboard.
~if only I remembered what our mission was~ she thought idly, grateful for the fact that Cardassians were no telepaths. Yet there was something about this cardassian, she noticed, as she covertly looked him over, but she couldn't quite pinpoint what.
"I will not give you command of my ship," she said aloud, "you are in violation of the demilitarized zone. We were in Federation space when we were attacked, and it is obvious that Cardassians attacked us." She turned to face Ra. "You will not have Federation technology. We would sooner see the ship destroyed than in enemy hands. We managed it the last time Cardassians attacked us, and we will manage it again." She spat the Gul right in the face, literally, then turned her back on him and crossed her arms over her chest in defiance.
~~~~~~~~~~
On Discordia, Jatan raced onto the bridge, looking extremely pale. "They've gotten her!" he yelled, as soon as he'd set foot onto the bridge, "Minerva's taken. We must do something!"
~~~~~~~~~~
On Mercury, Mark Harper noticed a single light blinking at the OPS console, and he pointed it out to L'Ola. "Minerva's gone to computer lock-down," he announced, wondering just how exactly Minerva had gotten the message across when all three modules seemed to be damaged.

-¦- Scene: USS Vesuvius-A, Minerva Module, Bridge -¦- -¦- Time: Starting before the first attack, but catching up to the present -¦-
<snip from Sonak> "If you are in need of refreshment, please feel free to make use of the replicator in my readyroom. After that, I could use all the assistance I can get in figuring out what exactly has happened since having dinner and now. From what I can tell right now, several days seem to have passed." </snip>
Several days? No wonder his mouth felt dry. And all the more wonder the ship was still in one piece, given that they were in the Cardassian DMZ. Well, three pieces actually, but perhaps that was even better than one.
"You'll have my assistance in a minute, Commodore."
He completely ignored Lucy, and that had nothing with his mind still not having quite adjusted to the situation. It also had nothing to do with her age, albeit not by much. No, simply put, she clearly didn't belong on the bridge, so she shouldn't be bothering those who did. The Commodore had her hands full already.
The replicator in the ready room was functioning normally. Hepta took a glass of water and allowed himself a moment to straighten his thoughts. Several days had passed, according to Sonak, but he had no memory of anything since the dinner, and even that ended before the main course. What had happened? What _could_ have happened?
Before he could even begin to find an answer to that question, the ship rocked violently. Cardassians, Hepta thought. If he'd thought aloud, it would have sounded like a curse. The shock sent him stumbling backwards into one of the chair's in front of Sonak's desk. The half-empty glass of water went flying and crashed on the floor somewhere behind him. Hepta was smart enough to stay low, so he didn't suffer too much when the Cardassians came at them again.
The door to the bridge was flung open and Sonak appeared, looking more than a bit disheveled.
<snip from Sonak> "Admiral, are you still in one piece?" she enquired, just as Minerva was hit by another volley of weapons fire. This time, gravity was knocked offline, and Sonak felt her feet lose grip on the deck. "Excuse me," she told him, leaving him behind.
"Everyone, get in environmental suits, NOW!" she yelled over the noise of the computer announcing that gravity and life support were offline. She pulled two suits from a locker in her readyroom, having discovered their presence only minutes before their mission - whatever that ought to be - had started. "Here," she said, thrusting one at Hepta, "get it on, quick." She struggled into her own suit, but noticed a few malfunctions.
"Great," she muttered, thowing it aside, "no suit or a malfunctioning suit makes no difference." </snip>
Hepta put on the suit, which wasn't all that easy with gravity offline and the Cardassians continuing their attacks. He made his way to the bridge when he was done, observing the situation for a moment, and looking for a way to make himself useful. His main area of expertise remained operations, but much to his surprise, the young Miss Kanz seemed to be handling that station well enough on her own. In fact, everyone was doing what they were supposed to be doing. However, three Cardassian warships against one third of the USS Vesuvius--and a rather badly damaged one third at that--was a fight the Cardassians couldn't lose.
"Commodore," Hepta said between two attack waves. "Isn't it time we tried hailing them? I know long-range comms are down, but short-range might work. And otherwise you could always launch a buoy and reroute internal comms through it to use them as external comms."
"We already tried hailing them, Admiral," Sonak replied. She was looking a little pale now that she was beginning to suffer from the decreasing oxygen level. Hepta wondered how long she'd last. Vulcans had a tougher physiology than most other humanoids, but even they had limits.
"I must have missed that." No surprise there; after all, he'd been in the ready room as the fighting began.
It wasn't much later that gravity reappeared, as suddenly as it originally vanished. Hepta had been staying low to the ground just in case this would happen, so he didn't fall more than a few inches. Miss Kanz steadied herself on the operations console and informed everyone that life support had also returned, and was expected to stay, upon which everyone started removing their environmental suits. Well, everyone except Sonak, who instead helped Hepta get out of his.
"Thank you, Commodore," Hepta said as he removed the upper part of the suit. His legs were still in the other part, but already he felt better. "No matter how much they improve these suits, they always remain restricting."
"Believe me, Admiral, it's worse without one."
Some colour was returning to her face; she'd be back to her old self in a minute. At least, she would've been, if they hadn't been boarded at that point by a couple of armed Cardassians. She continued to help him get out of the suit, and much to Hepta's surprise, the Cardassians hardly seemed to notice him. Then again, Sonak did a good job of keeping their attention on her, allowing him to back away a bit. In the end, though, the Cardassians had to notice him, of course.
<snip from Ra> "What do we have here?" Gul Ra said looking down at the old man, "An Admiral. Today must be my lucky day." </snip>
Hepta tried to look as if he didn't care at all about what was happening, but on the inside, his mind was working hard. Why did this Gul--who hadn't bother to give his name--not know he was aboard? It made no sense. Why would the Cardassians attack the Vesuvius if not for him? Why, if not for what he was going to do at Doroch Moon Station? As the Gul slowly walked around the back of the bridge, Sonak sneaked closer to Hepta and asked him if he was alright.
"Quite alright, Commodore." A lot better certainly than the poor security lad who'd just got stabbed in the neck. "Just confused, that's all."
Sonak hardly acknowledged him. She clearly had something up her sleeve, and it soon became apparent what that was. A computer lock-down. She certainly had guts to do that, with a trigger-happy Cardassian at her side. A logical course of action? Hepta wasn't sure about that, but Sonak had already shown on a few occasions that she wasn't a typical Vulcan. The Gul did seem to be a typical Cardassian, though, and his eventual response--taking her, probably to his ship--certainly didn't come as a surprise. Too bad the other Cardassians hadn't gone with him. On the other hand, there were only two of them, and they didn't look half as bright as a first-year Cadet. All they needed was a diversion, something to distract them, so the bridge crew could overpower them. Hepta decided an old trick might just work.
Without any warning, he let himself fall over in his chair and roll onto the floor. He only hoped the bridge crew would be smarter than those Cardies.

Watching from the shadows, Zoril was amused by the Vulcan's show of defiance, clearly however Ra was not and Zoril had no intention of letting him kill their guest just yet.
"Release her!" Zoril barked. Startling both Ra and his Vulcan prisoner.
"Legate Zoril she..."
"I do not like giving orders twice Ra, or have you forgotten that?" she asked, her grey eyes flashing with irritation. The expression on the Vulcan's face was bordering on shock that Zoril found almost more amusing that her previous anger. Ra nodded, releasing his grip on the Commodore's uniform. Zoril didn't bother to hide her smirk when his hand automatically went to his side, where she was sure he still bore scars from the last time he'd defied her.
It wasn't that Zoril particularly enjoyed torturing her own crew; however, her position was precarious, however she had earned her position, the first female Legate in the Cardassian military she was known to be ruthless in every way possible. Even her own Father had not stood in her way, or at least, had not survived to tell the tale of his one attempt to do so.
"Commodore Sonak, born Earth date October 26th 2354, Shi'Kar, both parents are dead, raised by Peter and Rudi van Breughel, along with their sons Ricky and Nathan. Currently commanding officer of the U.S.S Vesuvius-A, also commanded the U.S.S Vesuvius, until it was destroyed, or rather you destroyed it, in combat with a Cardassian vessel, previous to that you commanded the U.S.S Leeuwenhoek, reaching the rank of Commodore before quite... unceremoniously being demoted to Commander 1st Class... I wonder Commodore, how many know the truth of why you were demoted? Does your dear husband, Jatan isn't it? Or Seliv... terribly unfortunate what happened to him and of course, we mustn't forget your children, Sevus, T'Kimi, Shanna and Seliv Jr... such a pity they never really knew their father." Zoril spoke calmly, almost amiably, she was in control of this situation and she intended to remain that way.
"Ensure her crew don't attempt any... heroics and call for reinforcements, the Commodore and I are going to have a nice little chat, take her to the brig!" Zoril ordered, turning back to Gul Ra. "If the other two modules get to close, use our tractor beam to tow this one behind us, under no circumstances is the Vesuvius to reach Doroch Moon Station. I will be with our guest." She said quietly as Sonak was dragged from the bridge by her security officers.

She spat the Gul right in the face, literally, then turned her back on him and crossed her arms over her chest in defiance.
GUl Ra was furious at the actions of the female Starfleet officer.
"No woman talks to me this way!" He said to himself.
Gul Ra grabbed the Commodore on the shoulder, turning her around to face him. With one swift move he punched her square in the stomach knocking the wind out of the Commodore's lungs. Gul Ra grabbed the Commodore's arm again and move in to strike again when he heard the words of Legate Zoril.
"Release her!" Zoril barked.
Gul Ra released the Commodore and listened as Legate Zoril spelled out the Commodore's entire biography. It seemed the good Commodore had a few skeletons in her closet.
"Ensure her crew don't attempt any... heroics and call for reinforcements, the Commodore and I are going to have a nice little chat, take her to the brig!" Zoril ordered, turning back to Gul Ra. She said quietly as Sonak was dragged from the bridge by her security officers.
Gul Ra nodded as he watched a few guards take the Commodore away. "I shall be with you later to finish what we started Commodore." Gul Ra said in a uncharacteristically low tone of voice.
"You," Gul Ra said pointing at the nearest officer, "request reinforcements and apply a tractor beam to the Federation ship. Helm make for Cardassian space, full impulse."
A single shot smashed into the Ghemor shields.
"Federation ship is firing Gul Ra." An officer said.
"Return fire, full spread." Gul Ra ordered.
The Ghemor turned as sharply as it could with the Federation module section in tow. Once the Ghemor had a clear line of fire at the Federation ship it opened fire with all it's main weapons. Several phaser and torpedos impacted the ship causing them to change course.
Gul Ra quickly made his way to the transporter roomand beamed back over to the Federation ship now in tow.
"Whats going on here?" Gul Ra demanded as he had little time for anything else to go wrong.
"I do not know sir. The old man just fell to the ground."
"Leave him, move the bridge crew to the ready room and lock them in." Gul Ra barked still mad at the events that unfolded on board the Ghemor.

ooc: I felt bored...I'll edit this to fit anything Lucy was already writing....when she posts it:)
~~~ Minerva ~~~
Ensign Jennifer Hargrove screamed as Hepta fell down. Then she noticed her commanding officer had disappeared, and she cast a scared look on the downed admiral. She was certain that nobody had touched the old man. Yet she was too scared to move from her seat, scared of what the Cardassians might do if she moved to his side.
Next thing she knows, a Cardassian male yanks her from her seat and roughly spirals her towards the readyroom. She uttered another scream as she ran straight into the wall. Blood oozed from her nose as the Cardassian thrust her roughly into the readyroom. Soon, she was followed by every crewmember on the bridge, and the small office room was starting to get crowded. With the ship on security lock-down, it wasn't likely the replicators would work, so Hargrove pulled off her tunic and used that to absorb the blood with.
Looking up, she saw Lucy standing near the doorway, looking pale and shaking her head. "Where's the old man?" Jennifer asked her, shaking her, "is he still alive?"
<Lucy?>
~~~ Cardassian Vessel ~~~
Sonak knew there were going to be repressailles after she had spat the Cardassian in the face, and she doubled over as he punched her in the abdomen, momentarily winded. For a moment, she was grateful for the woman who had ordered him to release her, but that was soon over.
She froze, as the woman started recounting information about her, and seemed to know things that were not in her public record. Her blood ran cold as she mentioned her family, but the Vulcan was determined not to let the woman know she had struck a chord. ~where did she get this~ she thought frantically, her mind racing.
Suddenly she was seized from both sides, and dragged away. Sonak dug her heels into the deck but it was a futile effort. She glared at the female Cardassian, her eyes shooting daggers. If she had truly been able to do so, the woman would be lying dead. Purposefully, she then slammed her heels down on the guards feet, and had satisfaction in hearing them both grunt in pain. She spat at both of them as they dragged her off and unceremoniously dumped her in a cell.
She landed flat on her back as they shoved her in, and she lay there for a long time, dizzy from the knock on the head she'd taken when she fell. Her vision went dark for a moment, and she gasped for air. Slowly, she got to her feet and supported herself at the bench as she lay down on it.
~Jatan~ she thought, knowing that he'd know the minute she was experiencing discomfort ~he must not worry, he must focus on helping Nephi~ She closed her eyes and concentrated on getting her mental barriers up, as she knew she was going to need every bit of strength.

It was definitely an interesting experience. Not exactly the sort of position she wanted to be in everyday, but it was interesting all the same. She'd never seen a Cardassian in the flesh before.
But things just got that extra bit worse when Sonak was kidnapped. Lucy always felt safer with someone around that understood her position.
Trying not to stand out, she looked around to see who was there. It was especially important to work out how everyone would react. At least in her position she wasn't expected to take control of the situation.
In the minutes that followed Admiral Hepta collapsed, and they were escorted to the ready room. Looking around at the people packed into the room, Lucy realised that there was very little they could do.
She did a double-take when she realised someone was talking to her.
"Where's the old man? Is he still alive?"
Lucy nodded slowly, "He's alive. I don't know for how much longer with people like that minding him. I think he's still on the Bridge." *Which is probably better than being stuck in here* she added silently.
Slowly the room came into focus. An unfamiliar face came into view.
"Look's like he's awake."
"And that's your professional opinion?" Someone else replied mockingly.
Sam sat up, "Where am I? What's happening?" He realised that the second voice had belonged to one of the science officers he knew. Jason something...
The first person spoke to him, "I'm Lieutenant Caldwell, and normally you would be my guest in sickbay but we''ve been forced to relocate."
"Science lab 1, right?" he'd worked out that much. "But why?"
Jason looked at him. "Cardassians on the ship. Look, don't I know you from somewhere?"
With two people staring him in the face, and a no win situation ahead of him, Sam decided the truth was probably the way to go. "Yes, you do sort of know me. My name's Sam Joughin. I'm friends with Ed Tanner and Lucy Kanz. I believe I saw you at Commodore Sonak's wedding."
A look of dawning realisation appeared on Jason's face as he remembered how awkward that meeting had been.
Luckily, Caldwell decided to take control, "Well it looks like the young Miss Kanz has saved your life. We lost lifie support to a large proportion of the module, and she sent me to go and find you."
"How many people know I'm here?" Sam looked around the room and saw several make-shift medical bays set up.
"Not many. But, assuming you've been hiding, I would say there's no sense in staying hidden any longer. I need to run a few more tests and then you'll be good to help out."
"Help out with what?"
Jason smiled, "Oh, just a little something we've been working on..."

L'Ola paced up and down. At least Lucy hadn't seriously panicked in a while, and was definitely still alive. But they still needed a better picture of what was going on.
The big Cardassian ship that could be seen out the window told part of the current story, however with no history to work from and very little data the exact situation was still unclear.
Jared walked onto the module's Bridge and handed her a PADD, "Here it is"
She smiled and read it, "Yes, this looks fine. Well, excellent actually."
"Considering the length of time it's taken, that's just as well."
L'Ola tapped her comm badge, "Kanz to Lieutenant Jenkins."
=/\= Jenkins here =/\=
"I need you to reallocate some of the power and resources. You should be getting the specifics through about now."
There was a moment's pause, =/\= Okay, got it. Anything else I can help you with? =/\=
"Not right now, but I'll keep you updated. Kanz out." She turned to see that Jared had produced another PADD, "What's up now?"
He had a strange look on his face, "I'm not 100% sure, but something's going on on this module that may interest you."
<Jared>
As it had been a few weeks since Josh had last worked in Engineering, he was quite happy for the challenge. Although, he had to admit, it had definitely been Carrie's decision to stop hiding and start working. Luckily in all the panic no one seemed to have noticed yet that they were on board illegally, but it was bound to happen eventually.
He checked the results of the latest test he'd run. "Umm, Lieutenant Grant, I have to run to the Bridge to check something out."
"Okay, fine" the obviously distracted engineer called back.
Smiling, Josh made his way up to the module's Bridge. He'd never actually worked on a ship before, as all his training had been on Bellicose. It was quite an interesting experience, one that he wouldn't mind repeating.
Once on the Bridge he went over to one of the Engineering consoles and played around with a few settings.
"Unable to comply. Access to these systems has been restricted."
Josh hit his head against the wall. Nephi noticed and walked over, "I take it you haven't been given very high clearance then."
"No Sir, but I really think this will help. It might even get the full sensors up and running."

Jared had spent ages on the first PADD. It was hard to tell exactly how long, but in truth part of the time had been spent trying to repair a loose wire in Sprite. Jared wondered where the little thing had been that it had managed this, but somewhere it had been. Either way, the work was now done and Kanz seemed to like it.
The other issue had been that there seemed to be more people then there should be on the ship. Admittedly it was always possible someone had not been able to reach their module before seperation. For all Jared knew, the ship had been seperated in emergency. Sprite had been no help on that; whatever had wiped the ship's data had done Sprite too. Clever buggers, Jared had thought.
'I'm not 100 per cent sure, but something's going on on this module that may interest you,' he said to Kanz. 'Oh?' 'We seem to be two people up on the crew count. It might be that someone wasn't able to make their designated module before the split, or we could have extra people we're not meant to have.' 'Could it be any of the civilians?' 'No, they're all registered and present' 'See to it then' 'Also on the subject of civilians, I suggest if we become invovled in combat then we play it carefully. We do have the bulk of the civilians on board, captain'
Jared left Kanz fo consider this as he summoned a couple of security officers and headed down to the module's deflector controls, where the surplus people had shown up. The security team opened the door and burst in, phasers at the ready. Sitting in the room were two unknown personnel, clearly more shocked and confused than anything. 'Where's Kanz?' one asked Jared decided to leave the investigation to Kanz; if they knew her they would be more likely to talk to her. 'Take them to the bridge' he ordered the security men
Jared stepped off the turbolift to the bridge first. 'Presenting our stowaways' he announced as they were bundled off the lift

"No Sir, but I really think this will help. It might even get the full sensors up and running," Josh said.
"We've already restored our sensors, Mr Turner. Lieutenant Grant repaired them an hour or so ago."
"Oh," Turner said simply.
(OOC: No offense intended, L'Ola)
Just then, Doctor Reckus burst onto the Bridge from the turbolift. "They've gotten her!" he yelled, as soon as he'd set foot onto the bridge, "Minerva's taken. We must do something!"
Discordia rocked as a large of volley of weapons came at it from the Cardassian ship. It caught Minerva in a tractor beam and started to move off. "But stay there!" Nephi called to the man as he steadied himself on a console. "I may need the extra help."
"Shields down to 50%!" Lieutenant Leavitt called from Tactical. "Phasers are offline."
"Do we have any other other weapons?" Nephi called.
"No sir," he said in despair. "But I may be able to get a single torpedo shot out."
"We'll save it for now." He looked at the retreating Cardassian vessel, with Minerva in tow. "Do we have impulse?" he asked Lt McCoulley.
"We do sir," she responded. "Shall I follow them?"
"Yes, but keep your distance. I'm not sure how many more shots we can withstand, especially from a fully-functional Cardassian Warship."
As they began to move toward it, Nephi looked around. He remembered Jatan's plea, somewhat forgotten in the moment. "Do we have transporters?"
"Just barely," responded Vasati. "I could get you there, but probably not back."
"That's all I need. Leavitts, I want you ready a boarding party. They don't have shields, so beam right to the Bridge. Doctor Reckus, go with them."
Both left the Bridge as fast as they could get to a turbolfit. Leavitts was already hitting his comm-badge and sending out orders to his Security teams.
A few minutes later, Leavitts was gathered with 4 other heavily-armed security guards.
"I've done a scan of Minerva's bridge, and it's filled with Cardassians. The Senior Staff is in the Ready room. Be ready to fire quickly. We'll beam into the corners of the room. Doctor Reckus will beam in alongside me, so that we can protect him. Now, let's move!"
They all piled onto the transporter pad, and beamed over. They materialized on Minerva's bridge, and began firing at everyone they could.

Zoril entered the brig to find Commodore Sonak with her eyes closed, it struck her instantly that the Commodore was trying to raise her mental barriers, but why, when there were only Cardassians onboard the Ghemore... of course, her mate. Vulcan's and their mates usually had a strong bond, likely she was trying to protect him from whatever she was feeling... that would never do.
Zoril opened the cell quietly, striking the Vulcan before she had even become aware of her presence, for a split second she thought she saw fear in Sonak's eyes, but it was gone before it had chance to fully manifest itself. 'No matter, she'll beg for death before this ends.' Zoril thought to herself, a menacing smile on her face as she gave a hefty kick to the Commodore's side with her heavy booted foot.
"Now Commodore, you and I are going to talk, for every question you don't answer, I promise you the feelings of pain you transmit to your mate will cripple him." Zoril said, her voice low, but not threatening... no, this was no idle threat, Zoril knew how to make the Vulcan suffer, how to ensure she was not alone in that pain and she would do it.
Grabbing Sonak by the hair she twisted her arms behind her, pulling her viciously into a chair that sat at one end of the cell, metal restrains automatically held her, she had no means of escape now. Zoril's eyes flashed with something akin to delight as she took a remote from her pocket, she didn't need to be a telepath to know, Sonak understood the purpose of the device, for now she was sure she saw fear in her eyes.

Jatan scowled at Leavitts, but otherwise didn't protest. He didn't need to be protected, generally medics were safe in battle situations. ~why doesn't starfleet personnel wear a red cross~ he wondered ~in the early years, anything that bore a red cross was usually safe from attack. And here this hero thinks I need protection~ Yet he beamed in alongside Leavitts, and left his team to deal with the Cardassians, while he raced up to Hepta.
A quick examination proved that Hepta was perfectly fine, but Jatan knew exactly why he was doing this; to keep their attention and away from the rest of the crew. Looking around, he noticed that apart from the Cardassians, and Leavitt's team, the bridge was deserted.
<any reactions from the cardassians before I continue this? Don't want to completely steer this anywhere it you don't want it to go. Leavitts?>
~~~~
Sonak's eyes snapped open when she felt the sharp brief pain of being struck in the face and she bolted upright. She doubled over as the heavy boot caught her hard in the side and she hissed in pain. She had been caught by surprise, had allowed herself to drift in her concentration as she tried to block her bond with Jatan. It was too late now to continue trying, there were other issues that needed all her concentration.
"And what makes you think he will feel it?" Sonak retorted confidently, her eyes flashing with hatred at an intensity they hadn't done before. She held her arms folded over her abdomen, but also braced herself for what she expected would be worse than she'd ever experienced.
She didn't struggle as the Cardassian yanked at her long hair hard, and wrestled her arms painfully behind her back. She did gasp when she sat down hard in the metal chair, restraints strapping themselves around her automatically. She knew struggling was useless, there was no escape and she would have to undergo whatever the woman had planned. The Vulcan also knew that she wouldn't reveal any secrets to this woman, but her eyes widened as she saw the tool Zoril was holding.
Sonak wasn't quite sure what the use was for this tool, but she could tell the woman knew how to use it, and that it would be torture. She faced the woman with defiance, as she waited. She started thinking of how she would kill them, if she got the chance. If she hadn't enough reason to hate them before, she would have reason now, especially if they would harm her family, and her crew. "Do your worst," she said harshly, and braced herself.
Gul Ra was standing near the Captain's chair when out of nowhere a heavily armed Starfleet team beamed in and began firing.
"Take cover!" Gul Ra yelled to his team
Phaser beams sailed by Gul Ra as he ran to the opposite side of the bridge, diving behind a single station. He watched as his team fired back, but it was going to be futile since he had a limited number of soldiers on board. Pulling out his disruptor he took aim and began to fire back.
After a few rounds of back and forth firing a single Cardassian soldier fell dead, struck in the chest by a Federation officer. Gul Ra took a second to look around, he watched as the Federation officers were trying to make their way to the Cardassian's defensive positions on the bridge.
"We do not have time for this." Gul Ra yelled.
Gul Ra grabbed a single energy grenade from his side pouch, he armed it with a few quick keystrokes then threw the small object across the bridge toward the team of Federation officers. He watched as the Federation officers scrambled to get out of the way of the blast.
"Gul Ra to Ghemore, we need reinforcements, NOW!"
"Legate Zoril, Gul Ra is calling for reinforcement on the Federation ship." Zoril heard the words over the comm as she watched with amusement as Sonak writhed in pain.
"Then send them!" Zoril instructed, irritated by the interruption. Sometimes she missed the old days when people didn't ask her stupid questions, knowing what to do for themselves, without having to be spoon fed the information.
"Now Commodore, I'll ask again, your command codes." Zoril said, amused when Sonak hissed, spitting at her. Not that it did much good. Zoril was comfortably seated on the other side of the cell. Reclined on the cot. Her remote resting comfortably in her hand. Another quickly entered sequence and Sonak tensed in pain. Zoril did little to hide her mirth. She knew the pain the Vulcan suffered, she had designed this device herself. Had even sat in the Commodore's place.
Zoril believed firmly that to succeed in subduing your prisoner you must see things from their side. Part of that was understanding the prisoner. Their motivations. Their relationships. Their past and present. Another part was understanding the pain. And Zoril made it a point to understand everything she could. Everything she did. It was what made her great.
Sonak slumped in the chair held up only by the restraints... a pity... she was hoping she'd last longer. Still she didn't want to kill her. She would wait. For now.
Leavitts dived away from the small grenade as it rolled towards him. He slid and stopped against a far wall, putting his back to the room. He shielded his phaser rifle just in case the blast affected it.
"Computer, security override," he began to say, hoping this would work despite the emergency lock-down. "Activate a Level 5 lockdown of the Bridge. Author..." Then the grenade went off.
He braced himself against wall, attempting to keep the blast from knocking him over, or against the wall, knocking him out. He struggled to continue his order through the pain. "Authorization...Leavitts....Alpha...Three...Nine....Zeta."
"Unable to comply," the computer responded. "Force-fields are offline."
"Oh joy," Leavitts said as he ducked behind a station. "Leavitts to Discordia. I need reinforcements over here!"
He continued firing at the Cardassians as another group of them beamed in. He began shooting at the new arrivals, hoping to catch them off-guard. He grunted in pain as he was shot in the leg, but moved in out of the line of fire as best he could, and continued firing, leaning against the console for support. He attempted to hit Gul Ra, but Ra quickly took cover behind a Command chair.
Six more Starfleet Security officers beamed in around the room, and began firing, careful to avoid their comrades.
The fire fight was getting more challenging by the second.
Sonak clenched her jaws together, determined not to cry out. Beads of sweat trickled down her face, sticking her hair against her cheeks and her uniform to her back. "I shall never tell you," she managed through still clenched teeth, holding her breath as pain seared through her body.
She relaxed when the jolt ceased, just hanging in the restraints. Had they not held her up, she'd have slipped to the deck. ~I really should work out more~ she thought, gasping for breath ~either that, or I am getting old~ The thought actually made her smile, whether she wanted to or not. ~ah that must be it~
~~
Jatan screamed as he felt pain sear through his body, and he fell to his knees, wrapping his arms around his abdomen, as he made himself as small as possible. Tears sprang from his eyes as it felt as if every muscle and tendon were on fire. He knew for certain that he hadn't been hit by any rogue phaser fire, and he was absolutely certain that nobody had kicked at him.
He found it odd that he couldn't move, and that he was in agony. He screamed again when another jolt soared through his body and he fell over. "Stop it!" he screamed, "whoever does this stop it! It isn't funny!" By now, he was starting to believe someone was playing a joke on him, perhaps a green security officer, or some other junior who was holding a phaser in real battle for the first time in his or her life.
"Sir, it looks like a team have beamed over to the primary module."
L'Ola thought about this for a moment. She couldn't see it ending happily, but it might buy them a little extra time.
A commotion was caused on the Bridge as Jared appeared escorting two hassled-looking officers.
"Presenting our stowaways" he said, looking very pleased with himself.
The pair of them looked up at the senior officers, panic appearing in their eyes. One looked like he wanted to say something but couldn't quite think of the words.
Trying to think what on earth she SHOULD do in a situation like the one she was stuck in and deciding this definitely counted as unique, L'Ola looked at each of the stowaways in turn. "I know you from somewhere, don't I" she said to one.
Lara nodded, "Yes Sir, I booked off some science supplies for you a few months ago."
"And there's something about you that looks familiar to..."
Pete tried desperately not to look away, "Umm, I think you know one of my friends... Lucy Kanz..."
L'Ola's heart sank. She was going to have to do the one thing she really hoped wouldn't happen. As soon as the ship was back together she would have to make her first entry in Lucy's official record, and it would be aiding stowaways.
Jared stepped forward, "As this is a crisis situation, if Commander Kanz has no objections I will assign you to work teams. Please report to engineering where Lieutenant Jenkins will give you work to do."
The two Bellicose officers left the Bridge again, followed by the security personnel that were sent along "just in case".
With one problem temporarily fixed, Jared tried to turn L'Ola's attention back to the more urgent matter at hand. "Any idea how repairs are going?"
"Yes" she nodded, "And it's not all bad. Drastic improvements in the possibility of cloaking and warping. Should be able to get out of here in a day at the latest." She had to smile at that, at least there was one comforting thought.
The commander sat in his cell cradling his head in his hands. The pain had only recently begun to die down. After what seemed to be weeks of torture they suddenly stopped and left him alone in the cell for the last two days. ~Damned Cardassians~ he thought ~what do they want with her anyways? I resigned, my codes erased, what good am I to them?~
He brushed back the hair out of his eyes and tryed to focus them on the room around him. Most evidently he was on a ship, he could feel the power pulsing through the floor. His eyes focused on the doorway through the dimness.
"Keldon class," he muttered and leaned his head back against the wall. He'd studied the differences in Cardassian ship class design back in the academy. Only now did he realise what that training was for. To let you know how hoplessly screwed you are when captured. His senses perked up when he heard two guards do patrol nearby.
"Did they get anything out of her yet?" One guard asked.
"Not yet. The Legate has incredible patience. It may take days, if not weeks. I mean look how long we worked on the Tandaran. Took us two months to learn that he designed the ship and another month and a half to discover his command codes were deleted when he resigned."
~ 3 and a half months!?~ Nick thought. ~thats how long I've been in this hell!?~
"But now that Legate Zoril has that Vulcan she's not going to need the engineer for very long," the second finished.
"Yeah, I hope I don't have to be on the squad dealing with him. Last time he broke three of my ribs and my nose. I'll let the shock troopers deal with him."
"Exaclty," with that the voices became too faint in the distance to hear. Nick scratched his beard in disbelief. A Vulcan who knows more than he does? Then it clicked... Sonak! His eyes widened at the prospect.
"Oh no," he muttered.
~SONAK!? L'OLA!? Can anyone hear me?~ he projected hoping that either were near.
OOC: I beleive such a device exsists according the timeline. Not that part of this happends before the second security team beams in.
On the bridge of Discordia Fox monitored the phaser fire on the bridge of Minerva. "Shouldn't we get Hepta out?" he called to Nephi. "We can't let anything happen to him."
Nephi nodded. "We should if we can get a transporter lock on him. Go ahead Commander, try to find him in that chaos there. But i doubt you will succeed."
Suddenly Leavitts call came in "Leavitts to Discordia. I need reinforcements over here!". Before Nephi ordered another security team to report in in the transporter room Fox spoke to him.
"I got another idea of bringing the Admiral here." Looking at Nephi. "Go ahead Commander." He replied. "We could let one of the security officers that beam in take emergency transport unit with him and give it to the Admiral so he can transport off Minerva." "Sounds like a promising idea, Commander. We'll try it." Nephi said and ordered the second group to take the transport unit with them.
<back on Minerva> The second security team beamed in all around the bridge and started to fire at the Cardassians. After which they dived in hiding to avoid the returning phaser fire. When everything seemed clear on of the officers crawled out of hiding toward the admiral and pushed the unit in his hands. Before he could say what it was for he got shot by one of the Cardassians.
The fire fight on the Minerva had gotten more intense with the addition of the second Federation assault team. Gul Ra found the Federation officers beginning to encroach further to his and his fellow Cardassian's defensive positions on the bridge.
"Ra to Ghemore, pull this Federation ship closer and extend the shields around it." Gul Ra yelled.
The Federation ship shook abruptly as the Cardassian's pulled the module closer to the Ghemore. Gul Ra watched as the Federation officers hurried towards the Admiral laying on the ground. Gul Ra watched as a single Federation officer placed a small device in the hands of the Admiral. Gul Ra took aim and shot the first officer he spotted in the crowd.
"Gul Ra, shields have been extended around the Federation ship."
"Send more reinforcements!" One of the other Cardassian soldiers yelled.
"Do not tell me what to do!" Gul Ra yelled back shooting the his own man.
Looking up again Gul Ra spotted a single human screaming and rolling around in pain. The sounds and the sights of a person suffering brought joy to the Cardassian, but it was short lived as the human was quickly shot by one of Gul Ra's soldiers.
"Ghemore, send more re-enforcements. We need to squash this Federation uprising."
"We cannot comply with that order Gul Ra. All power is being drained from the transporters to the engines."
"Fire on my location then!" Gul Ra yelled.
There was no response from the men aboard the Ghemore, it was typical for Cardassians to not inform a fellow Cardassian when they were going to fire on their own.
A single explosion erupted from the back side of the bridge as the Cardassian ship began to lightly fire up on the bridge of the Minerva. Both Federation and Cardassian's were hurt in the blast. Several more areas on the bridge exploded as the bridge took more damage. Gul Ra was amazed that the Federation officers were still able to fight under these conditions.
With the cloak and warp drive still being repaired, all L'Ola could do was sit back and watch. Mercury was still quite a distance from the fight, having not been able to go fast enough to get directly involved.
But watching the fight was not a pleasant thing to do as the view seemed to become worse and worse. She tried desperately not to think of the fact that Lucy was on the primary module.
Half expecting another panicked outburst to appear in her head, L'Ola was very surprised to pick up someone else. Shocked, in fact.
~ Nick? What's going on? ~
(OOC: Yes emergency transport units exist. The prototype was shown in ST: Nemesis, 12 years ago on our timeline. Excellent idea ---------------------------Minerva Bridge--------------------------- Uprising?! Leavitts thought to himself. They invade our ship and when we fight back its an uprising? He gritted his teeth against the pain from the sparks raining down on them, and continued firing. He noticed the emergency transport device in Hepta's hand. Someone had to get to it. When the sparks flew, the Cardassian soldiers dived for cover. Leavitts and his men took this opportunity to take out the rest of them. Ra was the only one still standing. Leavitts rose, and moved toward the Gul. 4 others joined him. Out of a dozen men, only 5 remained standing. Doctor Reckus was among the wounded, he noticed. He pulled a phaser from his waist, and held to Ra's neck. "Someone activate that transport unit and get the Admiral out of here." Ensign Rutland did so, and Hepta disappeared. The Bridge rocked again and erupted in sparks as the Ghemor fired again. Leavitts activated Ra's communicator. "Cardassian vessel, this is Lieutenant Leavitts aboard the Vesuvius. Cease firing on us, or Ra dies." ---------------------Discordia Bridge--------------------------- "Leavitts to Discordia," came the Security Officer's voice over the comm. Nephi tapped his comm-badge. "Jacobson here. Is the Bridge secure?" "Affirmative. I have Gul Ra in custody. Admiral Hepta should have been beamed over to you. But we've got a lock-down." "We've got Hepta. Medical teams are on their way," Nephi said, then had a thought. "I'm going to try something. "Computer, end emergency lock-down. Authorization Jacobson, Beta Nine Three Gamma." "That did it. We've got everything back," Leavitts replied after a few moments. "Do what you can to assess the ship. Jacobson out," he said, and tapped his comm-badge. He watched Minerva through the viewscreen, within the grasp of the Cardassian tractor beam. "Do we have a way to free them?" Fox had moved to Tactical. "Not that I know of. We don't have phasers, and that torpedo is an aft tube. We'd have to be ahead of them to use it. And I wouldn't recommend that. They'll probably shoot if we get any closer, and we don't have much in the way of shields right now." Nephi sighed. "Well, at least with the condition Minerva appears to be in, at least they can't tow her at Warp."
"Cardassian vessel, this is Lieutenant Leavitts aboard the Vesuvius. Cease firing on us, or Ra dies."
"Go ahead and kill him, see what happens." Was the response from the Ghemore.
Lieutenant Leavitts was a bit surprised at the lack of respect for Gul Ra. Looking at Gul Ra he chuckled and shrugged his shoulders at the cold words of his fellow Cardassian officer. Moments later another quick blast smashed into the hull of the Minerva sending everybody on the bridge to the nearest wall.
Gul Ra watched as the crew was able to bring the Minerva back to life, he was shocked at how quickly the Federation team was able to work. If only his men were as fast and as efficient as they were. Even with power back online they still had a few problems to deal with, the Ghemore out gunned they at this moment and their Commanding officer was still on board the Cardassian ship.
"What are you smiling at." Leavitts said with a hint of hatred.
"Oh, nothing." Gul Ra said as he slowly crossed his arms, pressing a small button on his wrist communicator.
The Federation was not the only race with the ability to work with small emergency transporter devices. Gul Ra was surrounded by a green transporter beam and quickly transported back to the bridge of the Ghemore.
Once he materialized back on board the Ghemore Gul Ra walked briskly to the tactical station and slit the throat of the Cardassian officer manning the station.
"My life is not expendable!" He yelled to the bridge officers aboard the Ghemore, "Take this away."
Gul Ra quickly sat down in the Command chair and began to plot out his next plan of action. Two Cardassian officers picked up the body of the now dead tactical officer and walked it off the bridge. Gul Ra was in a hard place, deep down inside all he wanted to do was destroy the Federation ship but he had superiors to answer to and these people wanted this Federation ship in one piece.
"Prepare to open fire." Gul Ra said standing up, "Attack pattern Shinzon Theta One."
The new tactical officer gave Gul Ra's back a funny look for using a Romulan attack pattern. Although the attack pattern was very efficient, and very Romulan, it lacked the style that all Cardassian's were used to using in battle, brute force.
"Targets locked." The officer announced.
"Fire on my command." Gul Ra said looking one last time at the fairly clean Federation ship, "They said they wanted it, they never said what condition they wanted the ship in." Gul Ra whispered to himself.
