Raleva smiled unassumingly as Chris answered her questions and she took a seat across from him. She surveyed her PADD and considered the questions she was required to ask.
"Ah, well, let's get right down to brass tax, shall we?" she said plainly, "Now, I see that you are an orphan ... I know that can be a severe problem for some, have you had problems adjusting? Your starfleet record is void of reprimands and I must assume you were not a discplinary problem. In fact, some of Commander Seth's comments are quite appreciative."
<Tag Chris>
She considered his face and did her best to interpret the feelings she felt rippling off him. He seemed to dislike having this issue brought up, but it was her job to know what could possibly impare him while on duty.
At this point, Rali heard the chime and after removing the small lizard from her lap, she excused herself for a moment and answered the door.
"Ah, Doctor, please have a seat here in the waiting room, I have Mr. Pemberton at the moment," she said welcoming the doctor in with a gracious smile, "I was supposed to have an assistant, but alas ... I believe he transferred recently. Ah, well, you know what they say ... what can't be cured must be endured."
She returned to her semi-darkened office and she pushed the button to lower the opaque privacy door. She smiled at Mr. Pemberton and re-took her seat.
"So, where were we?" she asked with a disarming smile.

"Well I never really had a problem with it becuase I was never alone I always had friends." He said with a smile. "Also I'am following in my late parents foot steps by going into starfleet."

Nathan nodded in silence as he was directed to the waiting room. Unlike what he had expected, the room was rather comforting and soothing. Previous visits to counselors had been dreaded because they tended to be so distant and cold, something which reflected into their offices and waitingrooms. He wondered how long he would have to wait, as he hated being late for duty.
That and he had to take Freddy to the daycare centre; he doubted Doctor Keller would approve of the three-year old being in sickbay all day.
Nervously, Nathan paced around the waiting room after having sat there for several minutes and finally ended up taking exaggerated interest in one of the paintings that hung on the wall. It was nothing he'd ever seen before, and he was so absorbed in studying the painting that he compltely forgot about his surroundings.
He literally jumped when after an unknown length of time, the counselor finally tapped him on the shoulder. He coughed slightly in embarassment, then nodded towards the painting. "Interesting," he commented, "who painted it?"

Leo left sickbay after his surprise physical. Leo turned and walked to the turbolift and stepped inside.
" Deck 10," he said to the computer. He thought for a moment then said," Belay that. Deck 6."
The turbolift stopped then continued as he ordered it. When he had reached deck 6 he stepped out and walked down the corridor.
He stopped outside one of the guest quarters, thinking for a moment. He stepped forward and heard the chime inside. He waited patiently outside the door, waiting for someone to come to the door.
The door slid open and one of the male Romulans stood there.
" Yes, can I help you?" he said to Leo.
"Actually, I was wondering if you and your colleagues would like a tour of the ship?" Leo replied.
" Why don't you come in and I"ll ask the rest, they're here at the moment." He stood aside to let Leo through
" Thank you." Leo said and stepped inside. He looked around and silently congratulated the designers who changed this room to resemble Romulan architecture
Leo looked at the group of people that were sitting on couches talking together. They all turned and looked at Leo when he walked in. He counted 12 men and 13 women. He nodded and said Hello.
They replied and continued to look at him with mild curiosity, probably wondering what a Romulan was doing here wearing a starfleet uniform.
The man who had answered the door for him walked over to the group and told them what Leo had said.
They Talked among st themselves for a Minuit and all stood up and walked over to Leo.
" We would appreciate the tour. And we were also wondering if you would like to have dinner with us tonight. We gather you don't get to see many Romulans on this ship." Said one of the women with a smile.
" You'd be surprised really, only not all of them were friendly." He smiled." But anyway, My names Leo Potter, 1st LT. and the Senior Marine Officer on the Jefferson." He held out his hand to shake the women.
" Yes, that would be the case, My name is T'lav(Pronounced 'T'- LAV) and this is Slovak, our main negotiator for our group." T'lav told him. She also made some quick introductions of the rest of the group. Leo shook each of their hand in turn.
" Now, which part of the ship would you like to see first?" Leo asked as they walked out into the corridor. He looked beside him and saw T'lav walking beside him with the rest of group following him.~ Now this is going to be interesting~ he thought as he headed towards the Marine Section of the Ship.

Dr. Keller finished reviewing the Jefferson's medical staff. He had an assistant CMO, whom he had yet to meet named Lindsey D'Amato. She was a lieutenant, but had a reprimand on her record, which was probably why she hadn't been appointed to the position of CMO.
Daran took a closer look at the lieutenant's file. She had been reprimanded for failure to follow orders of the chief medical officer of the USS Hood. She had been down on Salunda 4 with an away team which had been attacked by natives for reasons unknown. However, she had refused to beam up with the away team as she had decided to stay on the surface to treat natives who had been wounded in the attack. She had been subsequently captured, forcing the Hood to beam down another team to rescue her.
Refusing an order was usually a court martial offence, and forcing another away team to the planet to rescue her was very bad, but it was recognized that she was following her medical training, so she had been demoted and transferred.
Daran shook his head, surprised that she had remained in Starfleet. That reprimand was going to follow her for the rest of her career. He was about to move on to the next file when he heard the door to Sickbay open and close. Curious, he poked his head around the corner to see Lt. D'Amato herself. She looked like she was getting ready to start her shift. Daran walked into the main Sickbay area.
The lieutenant looked over, surprised. "Can I help you, ensign?" she said.
Rather nervous, as she was still his superior officer, Daran replied "I think that you can. I'm Dr. Daran Keller, and I was just assigned to the Jefferson as CMO. The Captain has asked me to conduct physicals on the group of Romulans that we have aboard and I'd like you to help me get that organized."
D'Amato blinked once or twice in confusion. "But I thought that Dr. van Breughel..."
Daran interrupted her. "I guess that they decided to assign a Starfleet officer to the ship. I've already to spoken to Dr. van Breughel and he's OK with the way things are. I'd appreciate it if you could do the same."
Daran waited while she thought. It would be tough for a lieutenant to be taking orders from an ensign, but that's the way it went sometimes. "I can do that, sir" she said.
"Good. Please get a list of the Romulans we have aboard from Security, then call in the rest of the Sickbay staff so that we can get them through as quickly as possible" Daran said. D'Amato nodded and walked to the comm panel, while Daran started pulling out instruments and getting biobeds ready. It was going to be a busy afternoon.

"Mr. Pemberton, how long before we arrive?"
"Three days, 7 hours, and 14 minutes at our current speed of Warp 7."
"Thank you. Grace, you have the bridge. I think I need to make a courtesy visit with our civilian doctor. Make sure he is acceptable to the arrangements that have been set."
Zhukarak excused himself from the bridge.
Zhuk made his way to Deck 7 in hopes of finding the doctor in sickbay. Instead he found Ensign Keller and Lieutenant D'Amato apparently going over some type of list.
"Doctors, I trust all is in order here?"
"Yes, yes indeed. The Lieutenant and I were just going over the refugee list for checkups." The Ensign was quick to show that he was indeed in charge of this section, although a little unsure of himself. Zhukarak was happy to see it.
"Good. I was hoping to find Doctor Van Breughel here. Any idea where I can find him?"
"I believe he is having a session with Counselor De Silva. That would be in her quarters by the way. I understand that she had them converted to include her offices there, at least that's what I heard."
Zhukarak thanked his new CMO for the information and excused himself once more.
Arriving in the section where the counselors quarters were, Zhukarak decided to just wait outside, as he didn't want to interupt the session. It wasn't long before Doctor Van Breughel appeared.
"Ah, doctor." The doctor looked up with surprise on his face to find the the Jefferson's CO here.
"Colonel, I didn't expect to see you here."
"I just wanted to come by and explain your position on this ship. I know that you have already met the new CMO, Daran Keller. Also with Lieutenant D'Amato still aboard, she is effectively his assistant. However, I understand that you are broadening your studies in the practice of general medicine, so I wanted to ensure you that you have full access to all medical facilities as is required."
They continued walking in the direction of sickbay while Zhukarak listened to Nathan's response.

Raleva considered Chris' answer thoughtfully and considered what such an answer implied. He was adapting well, but she had certain doubts about how well he would deal with the loss of one of his friends or how well he would handle ordering such a friend to their death. It was something that she was required to muse over and consider. She looked him over and smiled her trademarked, disarming smile.
"So, you feel that your Starfleet family has managed to fill the void?" she asked again stroking the little lizard that had returned to her lap.
<Tag Chris>
"Good, well, that would bring this review to a close, though I would recommend you come and see me again," she said still smiling pleasantly, "There are issues that we should discuss, especially if you look to take the Bridge Officer's exam. However, I am sure you have a shift coming up and I wouldn't want you to be late and I'm afraid I have another patient waiting in the next room."
<Tag Chris for to exit and get to the bridge>
After seeing Mr. Pemberton to the corridor, Rali turned her attention to the good doctor that was musing over a painting in her waiting room.
He literally jumped when she finally tapped him on the shoulder. He coughed slightly in embarassment, then nodded towards the painting. "Interesting," he commented, "who painted it?"
Raleva considered the painting and turned to the doctor, straight-faced, "I have no idea. The former councilor left it and I haven't had the chance to re-decorate. It looks like a Cheva Kia, you know the mystic painter from Hachi Secen?"
<Tag Nathan>
"Well, shall we commence with the reviewing?" she asked with a smile, motioning toward the inner office.

"The who?" nathan enquired, not having a clue what the counselor was on about. He nodded when she proposed to commence with the review. "Fire away doctor," he encouraged, "I shall answer any question you have. I'll admit, I am not comfortable with counselors, but I am even more uncomfortable with male patients. So if you're about to ask me do I mind that Doctor Keller showed up and replaced me as CMO, then the answer is no I don't mind. In fact, I'm rather relieved that he did, now I can return to my former duties. I am certain the female population of this vessel will be relieved to find there's a doctor aboard who's not only comfortable in dealing with female patients, but who also knows specifically what he's doing."
Nathan abrubtly fell silent, realizing he'd been babbling, and waited for the counselor to start speaking again.

"That is very generous of you colonel," Nathan replied, "I assure you that I am quite happy with the current situation. Now if you would excuse me, I am already late for my duty-shift."
The human nodded politely towards the Andorian colonel, then hurried into sickbay. "Apologies for being late doctor Keller," he announced as he approached the younger man, "do we have any patients today?"

Raleva laughed at the doctor's response to her review of the painting.
"In fact, I'm rather relieved that he did, now I can return to my former duties. I am certain the female population of this vessel will be relieved to find there's a doctor aboard who's not only comfortable in dealing with female patients, but who also knows specifically what he's doing" he said as they both took their respective seats within the inner sanctum of the office.
"I assumed that you would not be all that happy about a less qualified doctor taking your position," she said subtly tilting her head so as to observe his response.
"Well, I wouldn't say he was any less qualified ... " he began after clearing his throat and shifting in his seat.
"He is a non-commissioned officer, fresh out of medical school, whereas you are a seasoned professional who has buildt a rather solid reputation," she said still maintaining that disarming smile of her's.
"Well ..." he attempted again.
"I assume you are a relatively ambitious man, Doctor, and relatively ambitious people do not like being replaced," she said, again with that damned smile of her's.
"I was rather nervous about this position and I am glad that I am no longer in the hot seat. All things being equal, I am happy to have seen this challenge brought to another physician," he said, now seemingly becoming a little more agitated.
Raleva could feel the doubt in that statement even as he said it and her smile fell slightly.
"I doubt very much that you enjoy having a young man that is hardly any more a starfleet officer than you are, with half the professional experience, facing a challenge that you have spent a great deal of energy preparing to face yourself. Doctors don't become doctors so they can wait in the wings, hidden from view and unknown to the audience. They do it because they want to make a difference and they want to play a major role. You wanted this job and you wanted to be a success," she said plainly, without even the hint of a smile.
He stared at her blankly for several minutes before replying.
"Yes."
Raleva took a moment before she began another barage of questions, soon after which the doctor reminded her that his shift was to begin soon. She released him with a clear bill of mental health and walked him to the door.
"Sorry for being so ... intrusive, I'm afraid it comes with the job," she said with another smile, this one purposely used to let him know his secret "revelations" were safe with her.
Much to her relief, he returned the smile and took her hand in a friendly manner.
"Yes, it does. Thank you for the insight, I'll keep it in mind. Sorry, but I must be off, I think I am already late," he said just before he took off toward the nearest turbolift.
Rali continued to smile to herself as she returned to await her next crewmember. She was glad things had gone so well with Nathan, she was always slightly afraid of how a person will respond to her "insights". It was possible to go too far and she had the scars to prove it.
She noticed the colonel standing there awaiting the good doctor's release and she took the opportunity to mention that he was expected to see her within the next few days.
She quickly slipped out into the corridor and followed the two men before she gathered the courage to call out to the colonel.
"Captain, excuse me, but may I speak with you?" she asked following close on their heals.
The Colonel graciously gave her his attention and she got the distinct impression he was a bit irritated at being delayed so she was direct and to the point.
"Yes, councilor?" he said gruffly.
"I just wanted to mention that you are due for your annual review as well, I suppose you can fit that into your busy schedule within the next few days ... at your leisure of course. I know our guests will hold most of your attention," she said
"I would imagine you would set the date and time," he said with a curious look on his face.
"Captain's priviledge, sir," she said with a quick smile.
"Ah," he said with a hint of a smile, "Then you may expect me tomorrow, around 1400 hours."
"Aye, well," she said quickly, "Then I'll not hold you here any longer. See you tomorrow, sir."
With that both gentlemen departed and Rali returned to her office waiting room ... to wait herself.

After Daran finished telling Col. Zhukarak the location of Dr. van Breughel, he and Lindsey finished going over the list of Romulans aboard ship that had been provided to them by Security. There were only 25. Daran had been expecting many more, seeing as the Jefferson was a Sovreign class vessel, with a lot of space for passengers. However, that just made the job of examining all of them easier.
The two doctors had been reviewing the list, trying to determine if there should be a priority list of Romulans to be looked at, but there was so little information they decided on an alphabetical approach, which was as good a way to do it as any. The two of the sat back and looked at each other.
"Lindsey, please summon the rest of the Jefferson's medical staff for a briefing regarding the examinations, and put in a courtesy call to Counsellor Da Silva and Dr. van Breughel, telling them that if they want to particpate they can, but it isn't required." Lt. D'Amato nodded and walked over to the nearest comm panel.
Keller tapped his comm badge. "Dr. Keller to Security, I would like the Romulans brought to Sickbay for a series of medical exams."
"Yes, sir. Lt. Potter has them on a tour of the ship right now. Would you like me to interrupt them?" the duty officer answered.
Daran thought for a moment. The Romulans had been in Federation space for a while now. If there was anything seriously wrong with any of them, it probably would have manifested by now. "No thanks, I'll give Lt. Potter a call myself."
Daran closed the channel, then said. "Sickbay to Lt. Potter."
"Go ahead" the security officer replied.
"I understand that you're giving the Romulans a tour of the ship. Once it's complete, I'd like you to bring them to Sickbay for some medical exams, please." Daran said.
"Yes, doctor" the lieutenant replied.
"Thank you. Sickbay out." Daran closed the channel and turned as the main door to Sickbay opened and Dr. van Breughel walked. He walked up to Daran and said. "Apologies for being late doctor Keller, do we have any patients today?"
"You're not late, Dr. van Breughel. Lt. D'Amato and I are preparing to examine our visiting Romulans. How good is your knowledge of Romulan physiology?" Daran asked.

"Romulan physiology?" Nathan querried, his worries about the conversation with the counselor momentarily forgotten. The counselor had struck a sore chord with her comments, something he hadn't quite realized until she had mentioned them and he'd been nearly in tears when he left her office.
He'd barely been able to compose himself when the Colonel had waited up for him and walked him to sickbay. Apparently everyone seemed overly concerned about how he was reacting to having a younger person, not to mention a lower ranked person being chief over him. That and a lieutenant assistant CMO replacing him as well.
Nathan had claimed not to be bothered by it, and he wasn't, until the counselor had brought it up. Then he realized the CMO was still waiting for an answer. "Well, it's basically the same as Vulcan physiology, save for a couple of blood factors," he replied, "and I know all about Vulcan physiology."
He gave Keller a cheeky grin. "My sister is Vulcan," he grinned, "and my brother's adoptive son is Romulan. So I guess I could say I am familiar with it....sir."

Doctor Van Breughel entered sickbay, apparently ready to take on his duties as they were required of him. Zhukarak noted the slight distress from him. This was why he really didn't care for civilian personnel, they lacked military discipline, were too caught up with themselves.
Of course that wasn't to say that one in the military couldn't be just as vain when it came to success and their self-importance, but they still respected rank, authority, and above all else...rank...mostly.
Departing from sickbay, Zhukarak decided that he would drop in on his new counselor. Seeing that she had set up 'shop' in her quarters, he was quite interested to see it.
After the door chime made his presence known, Raleva cam forth to open the door.
"Oh, Colonel...I didn't expect to see you here."
With a smile he said, "Why? Didn't think I could come on my own for an evaluation?"
"Well, if truth be told, Captain's...or I should say CO's in general are not known to easily submit themselves to their counselors or doctors. Do come in."
Zhukarak entered her quarters that had been set up as her offices as well. He could see that she had requested the adjoinment of the quarters next to hers. It was that section that she apparently used for her own privacy while this part was to be her offices and such. The requisition undoubtedly went through Grace as he had not seen it himself. She obviously approved it. Professional courtesy Zhukarak supposed. On the far side, perched on the back of a chair, Zhuk spied his firelizard.
"That's where you went off to. I hope Theel'zhiin hasn't bothered you. He seems to be growing fond of you as he did with my last counselor."
"Oh? Well I hope I have as much insight as she did, but no, he hasn't been a problem at all. Now, are you here for a session?"
"Definitely not. I just came to see how you are coming along. I like what you have done here with your offices. Is there a particular reason why you have elected to set up your offices next to your quarters?"

"Good, well, that would bring this review to a close, though I would recommend you come and see me again," she said still smiling pleasantly, "There are issues that we should discuss, especially if you look to take the Bridge Officer's exam. "Thanks Ra, and yes I will come and see you porbaly sometime this week for another review." Chris then hurried out of the Office and to the elevator and up the bridge. When he got to the bridge, Captain Zhuk asked chris something before he got to his seat.
"Mr. Pemberton, how long before we arrive?"
"Three days, 7 hours, and 14 minutes at our current speed of Warp 7." Chris said with energy found in a little kid. He was excited for his first shift on the Jefferson.

The Romulan refugees had been brought to SB G-6. The Jefferson was on her way back to S47 space, much to the dismay of Leo Potter who had seemed to have made a connection with one of the Romulan ladies.
“Mr. Pemberton, now that you have been behind those controls for a few days, how does the Jefferson feel to you?”
Zhuk listened to the excitement in Chris’s voice as he was comparing his current assignment to his academy days.
<Chris>
“You are right, she is a great ship.”
Just then Lieutenant’s Potter and Darmek exited the turbolift and came onto the bridge.
“Ah, lieutenants, I trust our Romulan guests were amicable? I didn’t see anything in your reports about them?”
Leo Answered first. “Amicable, yes, I’ll say.”
Zhuk and Grace looked at each other, both smiling as they knew to what he was referring to.
<Kosh>
“I agree with you.” Zhukarak said. “It is nice to have a simple mission every once in a while. Bringing those refugees to the starbase was yet still important, and it represents the Federations interests of peace and unity.
Just then all engines came to a halt. Zhuk tapped his comm badge. “Mr. Pudlo, report.”
=/\= The engines just simply shut down Captain, along with our control panels here. I can’t even do simple diagnostics. =/\=
Alex chimed in. “All control systems are down sir. Nothing is responding, but nothing is exactly broken either.”
Zhukarak looked a Grace and then Raleva, to see if they were ‘picking up’ anything. His own bondmate, Theel’zhiin remained quietly perched by his chair. Before they could respond, a presence had manifested itself at the front of the bridge.
Zhuk raised his hand to delay anyone’s reactions to whatever they were about to do, it wouldn’t have helped anyway. He had recognized the figure from various Starfleet reports. Dressed in a Starfleet uniform, the ’man’ came around the helm station with everyone just watching him.
“So you are Zhukarak Hrisvalar. Hm, a Marine Colonel commandeering a Starfleet Naval Vessel, how intriguing. Tell me…Colonel…do you feel this ‘unity’, that you spoke of earlier, as a marine amongst these navy people?”
As always, he was trying to banter him, the Captain, as he did on many occasions on his many visits. Zhukarak took a moment to compose his answer, careful to not fall into a verbal trap. After all, this was ‘Q’!
…to be continued!

Dr. Keller was sitting in his office, completing his medical report as the Jefferson sped away from Starbase G-6. It had been a fairly uninteresting trip. He had found a minor case of Arethian Flu in one of the Romulans. It had been in its' incubation stage, not even contagious yet. A fast shot of Genercillian had cleared it up.
On the high side of things, Sickbay was shaking down into it's routine. Daran had separated the medical staff into three shifts, commanded by himself, Dr. van Breughel and Lt. D'Amato respectively. It was Dr. van Breughel's shift right now, so Daran was trying to stay out of the way and get his report done. After that, he was planning on getting some relaxation time. He had been pretty busy getting things organized the way he wanted them, but things seemed to be running smoothly now.
Report completed, he entered the command series to send it up to the Captain, but instead of the agreeable beep of a job completed, the computer gave him an error warning. He entered the commands again, but got the same problem. He was about to call Engineering when Nathan came in.
"We have a complete shutdown of Sickbay systems" the doctor said tersely. Daran was very surprised. Sickbay was one of the most protected areas on the ship, with redundant protection for its' systems. A complete shutdown was unheard of outside of combat.
Nathan and Daran walked back out into the main Sickbay area. Sure enough, all systems seemed to be out. Daran turned to the shift staff and was about to speak, then thought for a second and turned back to Nathan. "I believe that this is still your shift, please deal with the situations as you think best, doctor."

Nathan gawked at the CMO, staring at him in openmouthed amazement and disbelief. "You want me to what?"
"Deal with it," the CMO answered neutrally, "this is still your shift doctor."
Nathan swallowed a couple of times; this was still new to him even with all his experience as a doctor. "Very well," he spoke slowly, addressing the nursing staff, "I want you to go over every piece of equipment that requires computer access, make sure they are properly connected and calibrated. If anything has shorted out, report it at once and call for maintenance."
He glanced at Daran for confirmation, then took another deep breath. "Also you might want to look for intruders. I'll help the search." He gazed at Daran again. "Will you assist us doctor? Any additional pair of hands would be useful."
At Daran's nod, Nathan nodded towards the women's ward. "I'll take the women's ward, if you'd be so kind to take the men's ward? I don't think we should call upon Doctor D'Amato to assist us. She's had a busy shift and she's earned her sleep. If necessary we can wake her later."
With that, he moved off to the women's ward to check on the equipment there. He didn't find anything at fault, however he did find something else: a very pregnant Romulan woman. He couldn't remember checking her over earlier, or even having seen her. She looked afraid and she shrank away from him as he approached.
"Daran!" he called over his shoulder, then kneeled down before the woman. "Are you all right?" he spoke to her, keeping his voice down as he reached for her. "I'm not going to hurt you, it's all right." He nodded towards her swollen abdomen. "How far are you along?"
The woman said nothing and shrank away from him as far as possible. Nathan shifted his weight onto one leg and turned to look over his shoulder, up at the CMO. "Seems we have an intruder," he reported, "perhaps Lieutenant Potter can be of assistance."

Dr. Keller watched carefully as Nathan hesitantly started to handle the unexpected situation in Sickbay. Daran could have taken the problems himself, but he wanted to evaluate Dr. van Breughel in a slightly more stressful situation, and the hazards right now seemed to be minimal. Daran realized that he probably had even less training than van Breughel, but the doctor was a civilian and probably not used to the command structure of a Starfleet ship. It was very possible that Nathan would be in a situation where he would have to take charge, so it was best to get used to the possibility now.
Nathan continued to issue orders to the medical staff. Daran thought that he did alright, he just needed some practice and confidence at giving orders. Something everyone could use. In the meantime, Nathan asked him to look around the men's ward to look for intruders. Daran nodded, slightly surprised and went on his way. He hadn't considered the possibility of intruders. As he walked past the storage cupboards against the bulkhead, Daran took out a Type 2 phaser and tricorder, verified the phaser was on stun and walked quietly into the mens' ward. There wasn't much to see except empty biobeds and non-functional equipment. Daran panned around with the tricorder, but it seemed that he was the only one in here.
He had just completed his scan when he heard Nathan exclaim "Daran!". Abandoning his search, he moved quickly to the woman's ward, phaser ready. He found Nathan kneeling beside an extremely pregnant Romulan woman. Dr. van Breughel looked over his should at Daran. "Seems we have an intruder, perhaps Lieutenant Potter can be of assistance."
Daran nodded, but before his hand could reach his comm badge, the woman's ward suddenly changed into the bridge. Everyone's attention was focussed on a tall human Starfleet captain who Daran didn't recognize. The captain looked over at the two doctors and the woman on the deck and said "Is using weapons on pregnant females standard procedure on Starfleet vessels now? I must have missed the memo."
Daran looked down at his phaser guiltily. He had forgotten it was in his hand. He immediately pointed it at the ground. "Sorry sir, we just found her in Sickbay. She's an intruder." Then the problem of what had just happened came to him. "How did we get here, anyway?"
The strange captain rolled his eyes and looked at Col. Hrisvalar. "The medical staff on your ship aren't too quick." Then he looked back at Daran. "I moved you and your friends up here. I know how sentimental you humans are about reproduction." The odd captain studied Daran's uniform curiously. "What are you supposed to be anyway?"
Daran was now really starting to wonder what was going on. This obviously wasn't a real Starfleet captain. "I'm Acting Ensign Daran Keller, Chief Medical Officer."
The man gave Daran a startled look. "Acting ensign? That reminds me of..." he shuddered visibly and closed his eyes, "...Wesley Crusher." The captain opened his eyes back up. "You don't have an overly shrill, red-headed mother on board, do you?"
Now Daran was truly confused. "No, of course not. What are you talking about?"
The captain nodded thankfully. "Good, you can stay." The being looked back at the colonel. "Where were we?"

"Can we go back to sickbay now?" Nathan spoke up, not at all comfortable with strange captains beaming them to the bridge just like that.
He still sat in a kneeling position beside the frightened woman, though she now allowed him to wrap a protective arm around her. "You're going to be fine," he whispered at her, "you're safe here."
He glanced up at the Andorian colonel for confirmation about her being safe on the Jefferson. He didn't want to make her any empty promises.
"We need to get her back to sickbay," he insisted, exchanging a look with his direct chief, Daran. "I don't know much about Romulan pregnancies and I will need to check her over anyway."
When nobody responded, he scowled under his breath. What was he, a doctor or a politician? Why did everyting need debating? "She is frightened, there are too many people she doesn't know. Sickbay is the safest place for her!"

When 'Q' had arrivied Leo had drawn his phaser but quickly relized that his weapon wouldn't do a thing to Q. He reholstered his phaser and stood beside the Colonel.
He was listening to the Colonel speak to Q but was distracted when 2 docters apperared with a pregnat female. A Romulan female.
Leo imediatly knelt down beside her. He listened with half an ear to what everybody was talking about but was concentrating on the Romulan women.
He wasn't surprised that he was the only one she was loking at. He heard one of the Docters ask fi they could bring her down to sickbay.
" Its all right, you'll be safe with the docters, don't be afraid. You should go down to sickbay now." Leo said this in Romulan so she would understand him, and not have to rely on a universal translator.
" Okay, but only if you come." She whispered back so only he could hear clearly.
Leo nodded and stood up. " Docter, that captain there is not a captain, he's known as Q. A supernatueral being. Now, she'll go to sickbay, but she said she wanted me to come with her. If thats okay with you Colonel?" Leo turnhed toward the Colonel as he asked this.

Raleva was en route to the bridge for her regular shift when she felt an accute change in the crew's stress level along with the emergence of a very strong presence on the bridge. Rali knew the captain had a very forceful personality, but this was something completely different. She quickened her pace, but felt it would be better not to encourage panic by rushing. After only a few minutes she entered the bridge, right behind Lieutenant Potter, a variety of doctors, and a pregnant romulan that was trying to pull energy from nearly everyone around her ... she was starting to calm down, but remained on the edge of panic.
Leo nodded and stood up. " Doctor, that captain there is not a captain, he's known as Q. A supernatural being. Now, she'll go to sickbay, but she said she wanted me to come with her. If thats okay with you Colonel?" Leo turned toward the Colonel as he asked this.
Before Rali could say or do anything a quick and concentrated white flash flickered before her and a tall figure in a colonel's uniform stood between herself and the previous group of people.
"A supernatual being? What glib terms, but I hardly should expect much better ... this is no Enterprise. Well, my, my, my, starfleet has finally managed to get some real feminity," the figure said with a queer little snicker, "You are a lucky man, Colonel."
Raleva stood and stared for a moment as the man moved around her with an ere of complete disregard for how uncomfortable it made her. He was a strong, independent thing ... a creature that had been around so long that it took a fair amount of creativity for him to think of an activity to entertain himself. She turned to look at him and got the distinct impression that this encounter was just such an activity. She suddenly had a very bad feeling.
"Do you actually keep your females silent these days?" he said peering around Raleva's head toward the Colonel.
Before her captain could respond however, Raleva found her tongue.
"Very few have ever been able to keep me silent, sir," she said turning to meet his gaze, "Who are you and what do you want?"
The man smiled insidiously at her.
"Ah, direct, I like that," he said smiling still, "Of course, I want what I always want, madame, ... to make a point ... to allow a single stitch of doubt to find it's way into the most steadfast mind. You are so certain of your Federation's superiority ... aren't you? Colonel?"
He jerked his head back toward the commander with a sneer.

While Q and Raleva were having their conversation, Grace took her seat trying to have an air of being bored. In reality, she was excited to finally meet the infamous Q.
Grace knew there the was actually a course on Q at the academy if a cadet shoose to take it, which she had.
As Zhuk began to interact with Q she kept up her act of boredom all the while observing the interactions between Q and the other crew. Q never addressed Grace almost as if she wasn't even there. Q's comments about the Counselor were not unexepected, but Grace was a female as well. "Hmm, perhaps I should speak up. No I'll keep quiet for now and see what happens between Q and Zhuk." Grace thought.

"Well sir I love how these controls are so much simpler to move around through and check eta's and run tests with other systems."
Chris sat in his chair as 'Q' manifested himself right in front of chris. Chris's first reaction was to attack 'Q'. But then the Captain stuck up his hand. chris sat back down. He listened to every word 'Q' said. Chris sat down waiting for the Captian's response to 'Q'.

Jeff was just getting power restored to the lab where he and Johnston were doing some experiments. very involved stuff, but it might result in a major technological advance for federation impulse drives. basically, it was zero energy spacial distortion. It was possible, but only on an incredibly small scale at this point.... it would take years to get it to a scale where it could work on small shuttles, decdes to develop for starships...
but then the monitors came back up, and one displayed a visual log of the bridge.
"oh my...." Jeff breathed, ten rushed out the door and ran towards the bridge. ------------
he burst out onto the bridge of the Jefferson, and several heads urned his ways. he didn't know what he was going to do, but... gawd, he had to do something.
Unfortunaly, Q spoke first. "Acting Ensign Pudlo. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Jeff's face narrowed. He looked friendly most of the time, but...
"I'm so incredibly sorry. " Q announced with his regal air. It's commander first class. I should have known that. you're one of several hundred starfleet Personal I've been following."
"I'm honored." Jeff frowned. "now what are you doing here?"
"ME? I'm hurt, I really am. I was simply discussing with your Colonel Starfleet marine Naval integration." Q paused. "Now, I would like to know your thoughts about your commander. your impressions, your thoughts."
"Zhukarak Hrisvalar has been a good commander. I didn't think it would be a problem, and it hasn't been."
"Commander, we both know that's a lie." Jeff suddenly flew through the air and landed in front of the main veiwscreen. He scrambled back to his feet.
"commander, why don't you tell us what you really think?"
<anyone>
"I had doubts at first. I was skeptical at first, because I was afraid he would be too military oriented. I thought that perhaps he would take over with the mindset of shooting first and asking questions later. too much focus on discipline. However, he has risen above all of my prejudices to be one of the best commanders in starfleet."
"You're not amusing." Q waved his hand and Jeff was seated at the engineering station.

The bridge crew was in a state of shock and in awh of Q. Zhukarak knew that there wasn't much, if anything at the moment, that he or anyone could do about Q's presence.
Zhuk spent this time to gauge and learn and observe the reactions of his own crew. Grace appeared to be ignoring Q, this caught Zhukarak by surprise. He would have to ask her about it at a later time.
After Q started to get under Raleva's skin, which was something Zhuk would have to talk to her about or at the very least mention it to Grace for her to bring up, Jeff suddenly appeared onto the bridge.
It became obvious that Q and Jeff had had dealings in the past. When Jeff was thrown against the consoles it was Kosh that piad the price. Kosh drew his phaser, but instead of releasing a phaser blast at Q, it seemed to release some type of an electrical field directly back at Kosh immobilizing him. Doctor Van Breughel was the first to go to his aid.
"He needs to get to sickbay...NOW!"
"Enough!" Zhukarak yelled out. "You obviously have an objective here and I want you to get on with it, but first these people are going to get the medical attention they require. Doctors, take her and Lieutenant Darmek to sickbay immediately. Lieutenant Potter, go with them. There is nothing you can do for us here."
Zhukarak looked straight into Q's eyes while the doctors, together with Lieutenant Potter, beamed themselves off the bridge with their patients.
"Ah...a take-charge kind of guy...even with the possibility of facing certain death...admirable." Q proceeded to walk around the bridge, taking in the various controls.
"If you had wanted us dead, we would have been so already. As I mentioned before, you have come here with an objective in mind...what is it Q" Zhukarak went ahead and sat down in his chair. He briefly looked at Grace, who returned a look of approval for his actions.
"Yes, that is true. I merely like to amuse myself with you humanoids. Where would the fun be in just killing you off? Now where were we...ah yes...the do-good Federation that will last forever..."
It was then that Q did his thing...he snapped his fingers.
The Jefferson shook violently as it was caught in the middle of a battle.
Commander Johnson lit up the main viewscreen of the battle that was raging on out there...that now included them.
There seemed to be two Federation styled ships out there, a Galaxy class and a Sovereign class, that were attacking another lonesome ship. It had obvious weapons pods, but no nacelles...and it was mostly black.
Since all of them were shooting at the Jefferson, obviously not knowing what side she was on, Zhukarak had no choice but to retaliate in kind.
"Target their weapons...all of them."

Dr. Keller, Dr. van Breughel, the Romulan woman, Lt. Potter and Lt. Darmak materialized in Sickbay. Daran looked around thankfully, but the rest of the medical staff seemed momentarily frozen by their sudden disappearance, then reappearance. Daran stopped that behaviour immediately. "Get the Romulan woman to a biobed immediately. Lt. Potter, stay with her." Daran ordered. Lt. D'Amato and the head nurse responded instantly, gently assisting the Romulan woman to the nearest biobed.
Daran walked over to Lt. Darmek, who was being examined by Nathan and pulled out his medical tricorder and scanned the immobilized lieutenant. Nathan looked over. "Well?" he inquired.
Daran frowned at the results of his scan. "He's surrounded by an extremely selective neural dampening field. His autonomous functions are uninhibited, but his primary motor functions are being blocked. He'll survive, but isn't able to move right now. We have to figure out someway to disable it."
Nathan turned to look at the CMO. "What do you want me to do?"
"Take care of the Romulan woman. Getting Kosh to move again seems to be more of an engineering problem than a medical one" Daran said.
Nathan nodded and walked over to where the pregnant woman was being cared for.
Daran turned back to Lt. Darmek, then nearly fell to the floor as the Jefferson lurched violently. There were several startled cries as the medical staff was thrown around Sickbay.
Daran straightened and looked over at the rest of the medical staff. "Order a full turnout of all medical staff aboard the Jefferson. Prepare to receive casualties." Med techs started rushing about, getting medical kits and supplies ready.
Daran then looked at the head nurse, Dana Precoor, who was assisting with the Romulan woman. "Nurse Precoor, I want you to organize two 4 person medical response teams. We might have some casualties who won't be able to get to us, so we must be able to get to them." The head nurse nodded and started to organize the teams.
Daran turned back to Lt. Darmek, hoping that he might be able to get the man moving again quickly.
