Nathan frowned. "And what of finding out who inserted it in the first place? Is there some way we could track down any of Loran's family, collegues or even friends?" They walked back to the computer, but before they got there, the human gynaecologist held Daran back one final time.
"Perhaps not a medical check," he proposed, "but perhaps a brief scan? He's a new arrival on this vessel, perhaps he brought something the biofilters didn't remove?" He stole a glance towards the younger doctor, who still sat at the computer, scrutinizing the data presented. "I'm worried he might pose a danger to us," he finally whispered, "he's too...short-tempered."
As they rejoined Mercy, Nathan motioned the younger officer to make some room. "Let me have a look at it again." He peered at the screen, certain that someone unfamiliar with this person might see something the others were missing. "There!" Nathan pointed at a particular emission visible on the screen. "That's Klingon! Whoever planted that chip had dealings with the Klingons or is a Klingon!" He glanced over at the two younger men. "I'm telling you, that emission is of Klingon origin. I'm certain of it!"

As the transporter beam realised, Lindsay D’Amato took in her surroundings. They were in what she would consider a typical transporter room, despite the various different cultures throughout the galaxy; some things were always the same. In front of her she noticed a Ruitan male in a security uniform, worryingly he was armed.
“Welcome to Ruita,” the officer said stepping forward “I am Lieutenant Jalek Gorr.”
As Commander Reynolds made the introduction, Lindsay continued to take in her surroundings, looking for any sign of trouble. Before leaving the Jefferson, she had accessed the logs from the Enterprise-D mission to this planet several years ago, then, the Ruitans had kidnapped Captain Picard and the ship doctor, forcing them into a telepathic link. Although that particular fraction had been stopped, the very idea unnerved Lindsay enough for her to keep her guard up.
“Doctor?” Commander Reynolds said, impatient in his voice, “Are you listening?”
“Sorry Commander,” Lindsay replied, shaking her head quickly, “I was a million miles away.”
“Well now you are back with us, Lieutenant Gorr here is going to arrange for you to visit the hospital where Loran died.”
Lindsay looked over to the Lieutenant, who was smiling nicely at her. Although he seemed perfectly nice, there was something about that smile that Lindsay just did not like; it reminded her of someone she used to date.
“Well, just tell me where to go Lieutenant,” Lindsay said, doing her best to return the smile.
“If you follow my associate Officer Rtar here”, Gorr said, indicating another Ruitan male behind him, “he will escort you to the hospital.”
Lindsay looked to Commander Reynolds, who nodded his head, giving his consent for her to leave the rest of the team. Taking a deep breath she stepped down from the transporter padd and followed Officer Rtar. Like Gorr, he wore what she took to be a security uniform, and was also armed. A foot taller than her, he was big built, and really not the sort she would want to encounter in a dark ally anywhere.
After a few minutes, Rtar came to a stop outside of a small personal shuttle. Lindsay’s insides tightened, she had not realised she would have to fly in a shuttle with this guy. Taking a very deep breath, Lindsay followed Rtar into the cramped shuttle.
The shuttle trip was uneventful, Rtar silently piloted them through the local traffic, and spoke only to request landing permission. When they did land, Lindsay quickly hurried out, glad to be back in an open space.
“This way,” Rtar said slowly, as he exited the shuttle and led the way into a large building that was clearly the hospital. Inside was Ruitan female waiting for her, she wore what Lindsay recognised as a laboratory coat, and had a much more friendlier face than Officer Rtar. “Dr. D’Amato,” the Ruitan Doctor said, “I am Dr. Sar, Chief of Staff.”
“Dr. Sar, a pleasure,” Lindsay replied, returning Dr. Sar’s smile.
“Well Officer,” Sar said, turning to face Rtar, “I think you can leave us now, I’ll arrange for Dr. D’Amato to return to her colleagues once we have finished here.”
Lindsay was very relieved when the security guard agreed, and walked away, returning to his shuttle. Dr. Sar was almost the complete opposite to Officer Rtar, and for the first time since beaming down, she felt safe.
“Please follow me Doctor,” Dr. Sar said, “I’ll take you to our central records office.”
“Thank you Doctor,” Lindsay replied, un-strapping her tricorder from her belt.
A few minutes later, Dr. Sar had taken her to a large room that was filled with various computer consoles. Lindsay connected her tricorder to the network, and began downloading all information that the computers had stored of Loran Lin. When her task was finished, she tapped her comm badge.
“D’Amato to Reynolds,” but before Lindsay could say anything else, she felt something hard and cold press against her back.
“That was a mistake doctor,” Dr. Sar said in an icy tone, as she pulled the trigger.
In a cry of shock, Lindsay fell to the floor, the last thing she heard was the voice of Commander Reynolds coming over her comm badge…

Stuart realized that his distractions were showing. He pulled himself together and began focusing on the mission again. “Of Klingon origin you say, hm!” Stuart thought about this for a moment, accessing his mental database. “You know, I recall something about Loran’s past dealing with Klingons or something. If I remember correctly it was something classified. I bet Admiral drew will know something about that. I need to get to the bridge anyways.”
Stuart excused himself from the ship doctors and headed for the bridge. As he reached the bridge, Stuart spotted the Colonel first and decided this was a good time for his protest. “Captain Hrisvalar, I don’t understand why I was not sent along with the away team. Surely I’m the most knowledgeable of the Captain’s condition, Guardian Regarn not withstanding.”
Stuart could see a slight smile on the Andorian’s face as he waited for the response. “Doctor, I don’t dispute your knowledge of the Admiral’s condition and how helpful you will be when we have found him, and that is the key. When we have located the Admiral, that is when you will be most useful.”
Stuart couldn’t argue the rationalization of this. The Colonel was actually a smart man. “You are right. I guess I just feel a little helpless at the moment.”
“Understood, it’s quite alright. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to make contact with Commander Reynolds and see how things are going.”
Stuart departed from the Colonel and approached Admiral Drew who was looking over the various science stations at the rear of the bridge. “Admiral Drew, Doctor Keller found something in the autopsy reports, or actually in some pictures before the official reports. It appears to be a type of isolinear chip of Klingon origin that was embedded in Loran’s skin, and it was removed before the official autopsy report, hence to never be included. I recall seeing something about Loran having dealings with Klingons when I was going through some of the classified parts of Admiral Lin’s medical records. Since there wasn’t much more than that, I thought that maybe you can shed some light on this.”
Stuart folded his arms for comfort while he listened to what Admiral Drew could recall if anything.

“Welcome to Ruita,” the officer said stepping forward “I am Lieutenant Jalek Gorr.”
"Thank you for meeting us Lieutenant," Matt said quickly getting the formalities out of the way. " I'm sure you know the reason for us being here?"
"Yes and I have to tell you that you will not find anything here," Jalek Gorr responded.
"Not to offend, but I haven't made that conclusion yet," Matt said," we need access to your medical records. The doctors onboard my ship are currently studying them, but I want to make sure that we didn't miss anything."
"Of course," Jalek Gorr said laughing nervously." I'll take your doctor there immediately."
“Doctor?" Matt said, impatient in his voice, “Are you listening?”
“Sorry Commander,” Lindsay replied, shaking her head quickly, “I was a million miles away.” He immediately regretted bringer her in place of Doctor Mercy or Guardian Regarn. Matt didn't think they were going to find Admiral Lin here, which was why he thought D'Amato would be a suitable choice. At the moment he wished he had thought otherwise.
“Well now you are back with us, Lieutenant Gorr here is going to arrange for you to visit the hospital where Loran died.”
“Well, just tell me where to go Lieutenant,” Lindsay said, doing her best to return the smile.
“If you follow my associate Officer Rtar here”, Gorr said, indicating another Ruitan male behind him, “he will escort you to the hospital.”
Matt saw her concern, but he tried to give her reassurance. After her inital hesitation, she followed officer Rtar towards the medical facility where Loran died.
"Lt. Gorr, we wish to speak to these people," Matt said handing him a list of Loran's known associates," they might now what Loran do in this situation."
"What situation?" Gorr asked.
"That is not your concern," Matt said tensing up with annoyance.
"Of course," Gorr said with the same nervous laugh. "Please follow me."
~Grace, what did you think of him?~ Matt asked glad that they would be capable to speak without actually talking.
<Tag Grace>
Gorr would not keep quiet which annoyed Matt even more. After a few minutes he was sure that he was just leading them on.
"Lt. if I didn't know any better, I'd say that you trying to mislead us," Matt said stopping.
"I would never, I'm leading you to a person on this list, I promise....," Gorr said before being interrupted by Doctor D'Amato.
=^=D’Amato to Reynolds=^=
=^=Go ahead Doctor....Doctor?=^= There was no response and Matt knew that things had just gotten very bad indeed. He took his phaser and aimed it at Gorr.
"Take us to the hospital or I will shoot you," Matt said as he aimed the phaser at Gorr.
"That is uncalled for, you have .....," Gorr protested before Cyle fired his rifle almost hitting him. " Good thinking, Major. Lets move."

~He is hiding something, Matt. D’Amato is frightened of Gorr, I trust her instincts. We need to be watchful of his actions.~
~Matt, Gorr's incessant talking is a tactic I have used to throw people off my real intention. I will inform the Major to be watchful of Gorr, it's Cyle's strong point.~
~Cyle, be prepared for anything. I do not trust Gorr. His constant speaking is a tactic you have seen me use to throw people off. Be wary of him!~
=^=D’Amato to Reynolds=^=
Suddenly in her mind Grace could see D’Amato. Lindsay had something hard and cold being pressed against her back. ~Matt, Cyle something is very wrong with D’Amato!~
=^=Go ahead Doctor....Doctor?=^= There was no response and Matt knew that things had just gotten very bad indeed. He took his phaser and aimed it at Gorr.
"Take us to the hospital or I will shoot you," Matt said as he aimed the phaser at Gorr.
"That is uncalled for, you have .....," Gorr protested before Cyle fired his rifle almost hitting Matt.
Grace looked over at Cyle, gave him that smile he had come to know that meant he had done the right thing. Not that he ahd any doubt in his mind, but he felt better knowing Grace thought it was the right thing to do at the time.
"Good thinking, Major. Lets move."
Grace looked around and quickly found a shuttle like the one Rtar had take D'Amato away in. As the group started to get in the shuttle, Matt turned to Grace "The guy who escorted D'Amato away, is he the one who hurt her?"
"No it was the doctor that Lindsay was turned over to. I think Rtar may not be in on this charade. At least, I did not get a sense of any subertfuge from him like I did from Gorr".
Cyle had gotten behind the controls of the shuttle while Matt was looking up where the hospital was located. The shuttle began to make its way to the hospital.

Gorr wasn't liking how things were turning out. The Ansata werent supposed to alert Starfleet whilst they killed them and he was most definetly not supposed to be on this shuttle. He could feel himself sweating and felt even more uncomforatble under the glare of the black eyed woman.
"This isnt necessary" He said quickly, "Its near enough to walk."
"Walk, I dont think so" Matt noted as he located the hospital, "Its nearly 6 kilometres."
"This shuttle will have us there in minutes" Cyle noted, throbbing the engine and accelerating it.
"No No. but we should take public transport... I m a public official its not right for me..."
"Sit tight" Matt growled,
Finally Gorr snapped "NO STOP stop imediatly I want to get off. You can't hold me, this is a soveriegn state." Gorr paniced and banged at the door grasping for the handle. He fell heavily against it as the shuttle bumped through some turbulence. The catch came free and with a scream of roaring wind it flew open. The wind raced through the hatch, papers and clothes flew into the violent swirling air. Gorr wide eyed clung to the handle as he began to be pulled from the shuttle.....

Daran looked over at Nathan as Stuart Mercy marched out of Sickbay. "Well, he seems a bit more self-assured now".
<Nathan>
Daran shrugged at his CMOs response. Without definite evidence of some problem, there was very little that he would be able to do about Commander Mercy. Out of sheer curiousity, he did pull up the commanders transporter trace, but there was nothing there to indicate any obvious problem.
Daran turned back to the results of the autopsy comparisons. There was nothing else to see really, so he closed down the file for now. With a little luck, Lindsey would turn up something on the planet that they could follow up on.
Daran took a quick walk around Sickbay. Everything seemed in order to receive casualties. They were possible from this planet. There had been a number of injuries to Starfleet officers while visiting Rutia. Hopefully, the Jefferson could avoid that.
Sighing, Daran returned to his office. There wasn't much to do for now. He sat down at his desk and pulled up his file of unread journal articles. He was falling behind again. Daran opened up the latest Starfleet Medical Journal and was beginning to scroll through the contents when he noticed that the ship had gone to Red Alert.
Knowing that the bridge crew would be busy, Daran used his CMO codes to access the ship status logs and found that two security teams were preparing to beam down to Rutia from Transporter Room 1. Puzzled, he checked the status of the first away team and saw that the ship had lost contact with Lt. D'Amato and couldn't beam her back.
Suddenly extremely angry, Daran banged his hand onto his desk. A startled nurse poked her head in the door. "Is everything alright doctor?" she asked.
"No, the ship has lost contact with Dr. D'Amato. Make sure that Sickbay is fully prepared for casualties." he ordered. Moving fast, Lt. Keller grabbed a full medical kit and tricorder, then searched through some drawers until he found his phaser. He left Sickbay at a run, bound for Transporter Room 1, intent on joining the security teams beaming down to the planet.

As Zhuk stepped away from Doctor Mercy Lieutenant Quindara announced that Matt had an emergency message coming through.
"Put it through, lieutenant."
=/\= Reynolds to Jefferson, lock onto Doctor D'Amato's commbadge. Transport her to sickbay immediately! =/\=
Zhukarak looked at the Acting Chief Operations Officer, Monica Quindara, as she was monitoring the results from the transporter chief in the other section of the ship. She looked up with a negative nod.
Zhuk replied back to Matt. "Unable to do so, our signal is being blocked."
=/\= Understood, Colonel I recommend two more security teams beam down to the planet and help us find the doctor. =/\=
"Will do, keep us posted!" Looking over at Lieutenant Quindara Zhuk issued out his orders. "Notify Captain Potter and send two security teams to Doctor D'Amato's last known location immediately, and put us on Red Alert now."
<Leo>
The klaxon warbled for about twenty seconds alerting everyone of Red Alert. Then only the red blinking warning lights remained throughout the ship as a reminder to everyone that imminent danger was possibly at hand.
Ensign Chen's voice announced that a Starfleet shuttle had just come in range and was requesting to dock. Zhukarak had been expecting it as he had already read through his messages from S47HQ. Raleva De Silva was rejoining the crew.

Nathan nodded in response to Daran's assessment of Doctor Stuart Mercy; he wasn't one to question assessments often but something still irked him about the youthful doctor. He'd have a word with the ship's counselor to call Mercy in for a little chat later, when things quieted down. "Sickbay to Doctor Mitchell, do you have a minute for me?" he called, then awaited the counselor's response. When none came, he questioned the computer about the counselor's whereabouts.
=^=Commander Mitchell is not aboard the Jefferson=^= the computer replied in it's feminine voice.
So instead of talking to the counselor, Nathan went about his business in the women's and children's ward. Leo Potter's adoptive son was still in the care of sickbay, though the marine had requested that they keep an eye on the infant for now. As Nathan checked the baby, he noticed the boy was following him around with great interest. He was now a couple of months old, and starting to get used to a normal bottle-feed. And he was pleased to find the stiff Romulan marine was settling in nicely into his newfound father-role.
A loud bang brought his attention back to reality and he walked back into the main area at a brisk pace, only to be nearly run over by the CMO. With a startled cry, Nathan stepped back and narrowly avoided a collision with the CMO, who obviously seemed in a hurry to leave sickbay.
With increasing concern, Nathan realised the doctor had been armed. "Sickbay to security, please intercept doctor Daran Keller before he engages into something he may regret later? I believe he is headed for the transporter room. Be advised that he is armed and may not be retained willingly."

Rali had been thrilled to have been returned to the Jefferson. She had not wished to leave, however, what can't be cured must be endured ... of course, she hadn't expected to be reassigned there. It would be strange coming back in an entirely different capacity. She had left a councilor and was returning a science officer ... even she found it a bit odd. She had always expected to be a councilor and had always trained to be so ... but when she finally found herself out in the fleet she found she was not quite satisfied with her work. In an attempt to grow as a person she'd decided to return to the academy.
She sighed as the pilot commenced docking procedures.
It was nice to be back though ... she'd have to make a better go of it this time.
"Ma'am, we're ready to unload," the ensign said as the shuttle bay was repressurized, "It was a pleasure transporting, Lieutenant, good luck!"
"Thank you, Ensign, I'll be sure to mention your wonderful performance in my report," she replied with a smile.
The young pilot blushed throughly as they parted ways and after arranging for the placement of her personal belongings, Raleva decided to report in.
She straightened her uniform and made her way down the corridor ... and just barely missed being trampled by a group of security officers. She bounced to the side and watched them scurry toward the transporter room. It was then that she realized the ship was under red alert. She decided to pick up the pace and she all but ran to the bridge.
She settled herself outside the main bridge, then entered trying not to be too excited about seeing a few friends once more.

Grace hung on to the arm of the chair she had sat in hoping to not be drawn out of the shuttle. Her main concern was Gorr, she could see he was losing his grip on the handle. It had been quite awhile since she had used her tele-kinectic ability and he was a lot bigger than a coffee cup or phaser but she had to try. It was too diffcult to get to Gorr before he was drawn out of the shuttle completely.
Grace concentrated with all her mind, she could see Gorr, his hand was slipping, then he released his hand but Grace had him, not in the traditional sense but she did have him with her mind. Grace moved Gorr into the shuttle, then Cyle put a forcefield up to keep anything else from flying out the open door.
Grace released Gorr, while Matt looked at her just slightly amazed, while Cyle said with laughter in his voice "I always knew you cheated at hoops. There was just no way you could beat me!"
Grace gave Cyle her best imitation attempt at being shocked but she was having slight difficulty breathing as Gorr is really heavier than anything else she had attempted to lift.
Matt looked at Cyle, and asked "Did you know she could do that?"
"I had heard something about it when we served together before but I have never seen her do it." Cyle answered with a smirk on his face.
"Guys, let's get to the hospital and see what happened to Lindsay, okay." Then Grace turned to Matt and said "We can talk about this when we are back on ship. I can give you a run down on things I can do when I my adrenaline is up, but that pretty much covered it."
As the shuttle began its descent at the hospital and Matt emerged to meet up with a security detail led by Leo.

Jeff Arrived on the Bridge, holding what looked like a 2260's phaser. almost. it had a very different front. exposed circutry was visible in the front where the focusing crystal should have been. He walked to the center of the bridge, and dropped it on Zhuk's lap with great flourish. the Red Lights on the bridge made it all the more theatrical.

"That sir, is the phaser you asked for. It ionizes the air around whoever you shoot it at, and deprives them of oxygen for different amounts of time depending on the setting. The casing needs work, and Sickbay should probalby evealutate what the safest setting is, but this one will work just fine."
<Zhuk>
Jeff nodded and sat at the engineering station and started designing the casing there. This thing could become standard issue, if it worked right. If.

Matt had been busy navigating the shuttle, but it didn't hinder him from seeing what Grace had just done with her mind. He of course knew of her telepathic ability, but he had never heard of this ability. At the present moment that didn't matter, all that mattered was the saftey of Docotr D'Amato.
It didn't take them much longer to arrive at the hospital and when they landed the shuttle, Leo and the marines were already waiting for them.
"Captain, I want one of your teams to to surround the building," Matt ordered," I don't want anyone to leave this building without us knowing. Everyone else you are with us. Major take point."
"What about him, Commander?" Leo asked concerning Gorr.
"He's also with us," Matt said as he turned to Gorr," and I will not hesitate to shoot you, if something happened to one of my crew."

After what happened on the shuttle, Gorr was more than afraid of Grace but he was also quite grateful to her for saving his life. "I promise not to do anything to hinder you, Commander. I owe this lady a life debt that I must repay. What she tells me to do I will do." Gorr stated.
Grace could tell he was speaking the truth "Very well, Gorr. You will stay by my side, no matter what happens, understood."
Cyle gave a small smile, since that was the first time he had ever heard Grace issue an order. He only knew her in Counselor compacity and had almost forgotten she was an officer. In a way she sounded like a mother.
Matt knew he could count on Grace to keep Gorr in line so he could focus on finding D'Amato.
Grace had used her empathy when Gorr had spoken that is why she was trusting him. Quietly, she tried to get information from him about the symbiont, Lin. "What can you tell me about Loran. I'll understand if you are under obligation to her too."
Gorr whispered an answer as he didn't want any of the others to hear. In his min dif he only told Grace he wasn't betraying any confidences, since he owed her his life "You are correct in assuming I am under the same obligation to her."
"I can respect that, sir. You do know that the symbiont Loran is dead, do you not?' Grace asked.
"It matters not if her physical being contacted me or not. I am still obligated to her and must fullfill that obligation. As I will do for you."
"Gorr, your obligation to me will be finished when I leave this planet. Your obligation to Loran should have ended when her life ended."
"Perhaps her life is not ended, Madam."
"What do you mean, Gorr. She died and the symbiont was removed from her and placed in another Host."
"That is what you are to believe, but perhaps it is not so."
Before Grace could get any more information, she heard a phaser blast from inside a corridor in the hospital. The blast hit Gorr, killing him instantly. Grace raised her own phaser in the direction the blast had come but could not see anything.
Unfortunately, it seemed there were more questions to be answered and no solutions in sight as to Magellan's whereabouts. ~The Guardian is going to have some more questions to answer~ Grace thought.

Zhukarak had watched the shuttlebay status report as he observed it for changes as the shuttle landed. Lieutenant De Silva arrived on the bridge shortly afterwards.
"Lieutenant De Silva, welcome back to the Jefferson. I'm glad to have you back with us. We'll have to catch up later, as you cab see we are quite busy at the moment. I already have an assignment for you. Get with Doctor Keller in sickbay. He's found pictures of what looks to be a Klingon isolinear chip that was removed from Loran's body before the official autopsy. I need for you to see if you can isolate the Klingon origin, such as which house it might have come from."
"Loran's body, sir?"
"My apologies. Loran is a previous host to the symbiont Lin. We are searching for Admiral Magellan and Loran is our best lead for now. Please get started."
Raleva wanted to say more, but realized that duty was calling. As she exited, Commander Pudlo entered.
Zhukarak looked at the 'mess' on his lap. It looked like a science project had gone bad, but Zhuk knew better. "What's this?"
"That sir, is the phaser you asked for. It ionizes the air around whoever you shoot it at, and deprives them of oxygen for different amounts of time depending on the setting. The casing needs work, and Sickbay should probalby evealutate what the safest setting is, but this one will work just fine."
"I see. Let's just hope that when we catch up to the Admiral that he isn't wearing an EVA suit or anything else that gives him oxygen. Then again we can disable that with a regular phaser. Good work, now a more finished casing might be in order."
Jeff nodded and sat at the engineering station and started designing the casing there. This thing could become standard issue, if it worked right. If.

The CMO slowed to a walk as he approached the transporter room where the marines were preparing to beam down. The door opened and Daran slid into the mildly chaotic room, where two squads were getting organized. The marines eyed him curiously, but didn't question the lieutenant as he slid through the crowd. They knew that having a medic along was probably a good idea in case anyone was injured, so space was quietly made.
A sargeant called out and the first squad stepped to the transporter pad, and Daran oozed onto it with them, slipping to the back, out of sight of the sargeants and Starfleet transporter officer. The doctor could see little besides the broad backs of the Marines, but could hear as the door to the transporter room opened and a voice called "Is Dr. Keller in here? We were told that he might be coming this way." Daran sneaked a peek through the milling bodies on the transport pad, and could see that there was a Starfleet Security team in the room.
The marine beside Daran looked over at him, and Daran looked back. The Marine smiled slightly and looked away. Daran smiled as well, knowing that there was slight animosity and competition between the Jefferson's Marines and the Security department, and that was helping him get to the planet just now.
When there was no response to Security's question, the transporter energized, sending the Marines and Dr. Keller to Rutia.

Raleva left the bridge, but found herself simply standing outside the door. She considered for a moment.
'Isolinear chip, in the corpse of a trill host, that once housed the symbiont for a starfleet admiral that ... that is missing?' she thought to herself for a moment.
She shook her head for a moment and started off toward sickbay.
'I leave for two months ... and everything gets worse ... 'she continued thinking as she entered the high traffic area that was the Jeffersons sickbay.
"Dr. Keller? Hey, I'm looking for a dead trill, can anyone help me out?" She said as the stream of people around her increased, "Hello? Can anybody help me?"

Nathan had been talking to one of the nurses about a patient that had come in with several fractures that she'd sustained during a holodeck game of parishes squares when he heard a familiar voice call for assistance. He turned and smiled when he recognized the former counselor.
"Miss DaSilva!" he called, waving her over, "I'm afraid Doctor Keller isn't here." His smile vanished like a cloud before the sun. "He went AWOL several minutes ago. I saw him leave sickbay in a rush, taking a full med-kit with him. Yet, he didn't specifically tell me where he was going. Of course...." He stopped talking when he realised he was babbling.
"You're looking for a Trill corpse?" he querried, "shouldn't you better go down-planet and ask around there? We hold no Trill corpses here, especially not that of Loran Lin...that is...when she was Loran Lin."
He paused again. "How long have you been back aboard?"

"I just arrived about ten minutes ago," Raleva replied with a smile, "It's nice to see you, Doctor, I knew you'd do well here ... it appears I was correct. Well, now that I think about it ... I am supposed to review a few images of a chip apparently taken from the body before it's autopsy. The Colonel directed me here to speak with Dr. Keller, but I suspect you can direct me to where I need to be?"
She glanced about nervously and wondered about Dr. Keller.
"Have you mentioned his departure to the captain? He seems to think Dr. Keller is here," she added as she walked toward the human doctor.

ooc: to avoid fewliners...a bit of a JP between Nathan and Raleva
ic:
"No, I haven't," the human doctor replied, "but I did report it to security, who in turn reported back that they were tracking him down. They failed to stop him. Do you suggest I still need to contact Colonel Hrisvalar? It feels like ratting on a collegue. Doctor Keller, after all is my immediate supervisor."
Raleva considered for a moment, "I think it would be best if he knew. After all, he's responsible for each and every member of the crew. Without Dr. Keller here, you're the CMO and that makes it your responsibility to inform him of his current roster."
She considered a moment longer and then motioned to Nathan again, "If it makes you uncomfortable, I could report his absence."
"No, as you say it's my job to report it. Excuse me for a second, and then we'll go see how we can locate that corpse of yours, hm?" Nathan tapped his combadge. "Sickbay to Colonel Hrisvalar. I regret having to report that Doctor Keller has beamed down to the planet without prior authorisation. When he heard about D'Amato's disappearance, he became distressed and left sickbay in a hurry for the transporter room. Security has been unable to detain him."
(Hrisvalar)
He turned back to Raleva. "How much do you know about our current situation?"
Raleva smiled sheepishly.
"About as much as an amoeba know about molecular physics," she replied, "I was hoping you could fill me in a bit more. The Colonel didn't have a chance to really brief me."
"Don't underestimat the amoeba counselor," Nathan chuckled, "but seriously. We are looking for Admiral Lin, who has fled from Starbase Assaillant after being removed from command by Doctor Stuart Mercy and a Vulcan healer named T'Val. From what we have gathered, Admiral Lin is very ill and very dangerous. If we don't find him soon, he may be beyond help."
Raleva nodded with a grateful smile, "Ok, that I can understand. Is there anyway to go over the doctor and councilor's reports? I should like to look at those after I review the images of this mystery chip."
She walked away from the steady stream of people and moved herself and Dr. Van Breughel toward an unoccupied work station.
"Certainly." Nathan accessed the computer and accessed the reports issued by SBA's counselor and that of Magellan's doctors. "Doctor Mercy is also aboard the Jefferson," he finally stated, "though I believe he too has beamed down...but earlier. And with authorisation too. However should you meet him....could you give me a professional opinion of him? I'm rather worried about him but Keller saw no reason to subject him to a series of tests. I believe Doctor Mercy is too distracted, and emotionally unstable."
Raleva glanced at Nathan and felt his apprehension. If he was worried about Mercy then there was probably just cause.
"I'll be sure to do that," she took note of the reports and then turned back to Nathan, "Now, for that chip. I suspect that the Colonel wanted me to work on that enigma first and foremost."
Nathan nodded again and called up the data Keller had uncovered previously. "It's of Klingon design," he explained, "that's all I can tell about it. I recognise the energy patterns."
Raleva surveyed the image of the chip and turned her head around and about again, trying to take in every detail. "There," she said as she came across a broken figure. She moved a cursor to try and enlarge a portion of the image, "what is that marking? It looks like a broken question mark broken by another?"
Squinting at the image, Nathan tried his best to see what she meant. "No," he finally had to admit, "I don't think so, but perhaps your eyes are just better than mine." He leaned closer to the screen in an attempt to see better. "No, sorry." Then he spotted something different. "Are that codons?" He pointed at the screen where it said 'AAG AUA GCA U'. "DNA coded message perhaps?"
Raleva nodded in response and tapped her combadge. "Sickbay to Colonel Hrisvalar. Sir, we think you had better come down to sickbay and see this. Doctor van Breughel and I have discovered something that may be of importance."

Alarm rose inside Drew as he heard Dr. Mercy’s report. If it was true that there had indeed been a Klingon isolinar chip inside Loran, then it would confirm a lot of rumours that had been in the intelligence file. If those rumours were true, then this situation could get a lot more dangerous.
“Doctor, what I am about to tell you is classified, based largely upon observation and rumour within Starfleet Intelligence.”
“I understand Admiral,” Mercy replied, a serious expression his face.
“It was suspected that Loran was a double agent of sorts, Intelligence found evidence that suggested a possible link between Loran, and the rouge House of Krork,” Drew said, doing his best to remember the details from the file, “it was concluded that Loran could have been passing on sensitive information to Krork in return for various rewards.”
“I see,” the Doctor said, his tone indicating he was thinking over this new information, “why then the need for the chip?”
“That is the question Doctor,” Drew said sadly, rubbing his chin in thought, “it could perhaps have been a way to maintain communication? Or even a device designed to kill Loran in the event of discovery.”
Drew and Mercy’s conversation was broken with the reports from the Away Team about a missing Doctor. Drew watched as Colonel Hrisvalar ordered a Marine Squadron to gather in the transporter room, and began barking out various orders to his crew.
Not for the first time, Drew wondered if Andorains were telepaths, as Hrisvalar suddenly turned to him, and exchanged a meaningful look with Drew. The message was clear, the Colonel had been right; the situation on the planet would have been made ten times worse by Drew’s presence on the surface. Drew nodded his head to Hrisvalar in appreciation, and then returned his attention to Dr. Mercy.
“I’ll get in touch with some of my contacts within the Klingon Empire; see if they can’t give us some more information,” Drew said, “in the meantime, I believe you may be needed in sickbay Doctor.”
Dr. Mercy nodded in agreement, and promptly left the bridge, Drew watched him leave, and then, swinging his console round, he keyed in several commands. His screen display switched to one showing the locations and status of the Away Teams, it seemed the authorities on the planet had been attempting to isolate the team, and then take them out one by one.
Drew’s attention on the display was distracted by a call from sickbay, asking for Colonel Hrisvalar to report to sickbay, concerning something to do with the chip. Drew left his chair, and followed the Colonel into the turbolift.
“Some of my best officers were Klingons Colonel,” Drew said at the quizzical look on Hrisvalar’s face, “I did not waste that chance to learn about their culture, I maybe able to help your team.” Hrisvalar nodded his head in consent, and the turbolift doors closed, taking them down to sickbay.
A few minutes later, the two officers were walking into sickbay, Drew spotted Dr. van Breughal and the newly arrived officer Lieutenant De Silva standing at one of the work stations. He could not see Dr. Mercy anyway.
“Sirs,” De Silva said, turning to greet them, “you should take a look at this…” She stood aside, and allowed Drew and Hrisvalar to approve the console and see the display readouts.
“Coded DNA?” Drew asked, “What do you suppose its purpose was?”

Nathan shrugged. "We have no idea, we've just discovered this. Raleva and I are still exploring the possebilities, but with Doctor Mercy here now, perhaps he can offer a few suggestions? I am hardly qualified in genetics, but I have basic knowledge of molecular biology."
He pointed at the display. "Those are codons. Each triplet denotes a certain protein, which will be transcribed by rRNA if needed. A triplet consists of three letters, each of which represents an aminoacid of DNA. However..." He pointed at the coding. "This is not DNA coding, this is RNA. See?" He pointed at the U in the coding. "DNA contains Tyramin, whereas RNA contains Uracil. DNA consts of Guanin, Cyanin, Tyramin and Adenin."
He shrugged his shoulders. "However I have no clue what exactly this coding means in context to this situation." He glanced up at Mercy and Drew. "You two know Lin better than we do....if we were to get a hold of the host Magellan, or even could get contact with just Lin...would he be able to tell us?"
Just then, a small green creature appeared into sickbay out of nowhere, offered a squawk at blue Theel'ziin and landed on Mercy's shoulder, crooning unhappily.
"Wait a minute," Nathan exclaimed, "whose creature is that?" He wheeled towards the Andorian Colonel, and then faced Drew. "Didn't I read somewhere that Magellan Lin owns one of these creatures as well? And that it bonded to Lin, rather than Magellan? How trustworthy are these creatures? How loyal?"

Daran materialized on Rutia, surrounded by the squad of Marines. The soldiers immediately fanned out and ran for whatever cover was available and Daran quickly joined them, pulling out his phaser as he moved. He quickly found a bit of cover behind a small, landscaped hill and cautiously looked out over the side. Before him, he could see a tall building which had the distinctive characteristics of a medical facility. He sighed gratefully. When he had looked at the mission logs, he had noted that Lt. D'Amato had arrived at a medical facility before she had lost contact with the away team.
Ahead and to his right, Daran could see the Marine sargeant assessing the scene as well. Making a series of hand gestures, he sent 4 marines towards the facility while the rest maintained cover. Daran leaned back behind his small hill and pulled out his tricorder and did an energy scan of the building. There were a number of large power centres in the building, but there was also a subspace dispersion field operating on floor below ground level. As a doctor, Daran new there were few requirements for a subspace dispersion field from a medical standpoint in a medical facility, but they were excellent for blocking transporters.
Daran glance back over the edge of the hill to see the sargeant had sent another group of Marines towards the facility. The doctor got up from behind his hill and ran hunched over to where the sargeant was directing things. The Marine looked over in surprise when Daran flopped down beside him. "What are you doing here, lieutenant? Isn't the Security department looking for you?" he snarled angrily.
"I'm sure they are" Daran replied calmly. "I'm looking for my doctor, just like you. There's a dispersion field in operation on the second sub-level. Since we can't beam her aboard, I would assume that she's there."
The sargeant glanced at the tricorder readout. "So it would seem. Unfortunately, I can't break our security to have you beamed out of here. Stay near me, and if you even look like you're going to do something stupid, I'll stun you myself."
Daran nodded. At least he was getting to stay. He followed as the sargeant surged out from the little group of shrubs and started moving quickly towards the medical facility, quickly joined by the rest of the Marines. Daran made sure that there were several metres between him and the next closest soldier. He had been in a number of skirmishes while he was growing up on Turkana IV and knew what he was doing, no matter what the sargeant might think.
The group of Marines were alternating rushes and taking cover as they approached the facility, until they suddenly came under laser fire from what appeared to be security guards at the front entrance. A firefight ensued as they and the Marines exchanged blasts. The Rutian security quickly took cover behind prepared defensive emplacements, while the Marines spread out to find weak points.
Daran had taken cover behind some trees, leaving combat to the professionals. The Marine sargeant was two trees over, directing the combat as best he could. Lacking anything better to do, Daran pulled out his tricorder and started mapping the facility so that they would at least know where they were going once they got inside. On the tricorder screen, he could see that the ventilation system for the building had several large exterior vents, probably so that people inside could get out in case of fire or terrorist attack. One of the vents ended very near where the Marines were. Daran looked around. The vent duct was concealed by a group of shrubs. Daran quickly stood up and ran over to the duct, nearly getting hit by a laser blast for his trouble. Now that he was on top of it, he could see the vent access was covered with a metal grate and particle shielding.
He looked back over at the sargeant, and was extremely surprised to see that the sargeant was pointing a phaser rifle at him. Then he remembered the sargeants warning about shooting him, and waved his hand urgently at the vent. The sargeant lowered his rifle and ran over.
"This vent leads directly to the sub levels. We can overload the particle shielding and go around the security!" Daran said urgently.
The sargeant scowled, but nodded assertively. "Fine. You overload the shielding, I'll get some people over here. Hurry up!"
Daran nodded and got to work.

The appearance of armed Starfleet officers took people by surprise and only seconds after being seen the hospital alarms were raised. This could only mean one thing, and at the moment they didn't have to deal with it.
"What are you doing here?" a hospital security officer asked," you have no right to barge into our hospital with your weapons."
The response they got was one they hadn't expected as Matt fired his phaser at the guards blocking their path. Normally he wouldn't of done that, but his gut told him there was a lot of things going on here and none of it was good.
"If we run into any opposition, stun them," Matt ordered his team," we do not need to waste time. Our first priority is to find Dr. D'Amato."
"Gorr, where is the morgue?" Matt asked.
"Down that corridor to the right," Gorr pointed as he looked at the guards and then at Matt.
The team quickly in the direction that Gorr had pointed out and surprisingly they didn't meet any opposition, but Matt was hesitate about rushing in their.
"Grace can you sense anyone in there?"Matt asked.

Shortly after Admiral Drew explained some of the classified information he had about the missing Admiral Lin all hell broke loose. The ship had gone into Red Alert and crewmen were scurrying to all stations. Stuart observed a scince officer reported to the Colonel and how she quickly left. He didn't hear their conversation with all the communications chatter going on.
Admiral Drew made a comment that he would probably be more usefull in sickbay and Stuart went and excused himself. On his way there, Stuart's mind flashed images causing him to stumble against the bulkheads. "Are you alright?", a passing lieutenant asked. "Yes, thank you!" Stuart decided to go by his quarters for a moment to collect himself.
He had seen T'Val in distress. She was crying out for him, a longing, loving cry. He wondered if her distress was the reason for the images, if it was through their bond that apparently was getting stronger. This was quite intriguing to Stuart as far as the field of medicine went, but even more so as it was very personal.
Arriving at his quarters, Stuart went over to his sink in the lavatory to splash water on his face. He had to concentrate for this mission. A quick five minutes went by and he was on his way to sicbay again.
Reaching sickbay, Stuart was quite surprised to see the Colonel and the Admiral there, considering that he had just left them behind on the bridge. That new science officer was there as well with Doctor van Breughel, apparently showing something on the screen for all to view. The proper introductions were made before science officer De Silva continued with her observations.
After they discussed the difference of these symbols being representative of DNA and RNA coding, Stuart was asked about his theory on this. Stuart thought hard for a few seconds. He then realized that he had a little bit more information than they did, since his discussion with Admiral Drew... ~That's It!~ ...he thought to himself. Just as he was about to reveal his thoughts, a green firelizard startled him by settling onto his shoulder out of thin air, it was Yade, T'Val's firelizard.
How loyal?"
"This is Yade, Healer T'Val's firelizard, my fiance. Yes, they are quite loyal and yes, Admiral Lin also has such a creature and I think I know where you are going with that. However, let me answer your previous question on these symbols...you are both right. They are both representative of DNA and RNA and as we know that the chip is of isolinear origin, I would theorize that they are indicative of a particular House within the Klingon Empire, to be more precise the House of Krork."
Everyone seemed to be quite surprised at Stuart's knowledge of this, or his recognition of the specific symbols. Only he knew that he couldn't exactly read what they were saying, but that he was only putting the pieces together with the information he had. He let the information sink in and began petting Yade who was nuzzling his cheek. He was worried about T'Val, now that Yade was with him.
