"Normally I would agree, Nathan," Raleva replied with a sigh, "There's only one problem. Holograms don't think ... a hologram of Gorr would not have the same neurotelepathic signal simply because the computer is incapable of scanning for and truly recreating the way that Gorr thinks. It can create a model based on how he acts ... but very few people act exactly the way they think -- too many conflicting messages."
She turned about and considered again.
"The only viable option is to re-insert the chip into Gorr while he is incapacitated and then use one of the several telepaths currently aboard this ship to see what affect it is having on his neural patterns and what information it may or may not be retrieving from his mind. I am hesitant to do subject Mr. Gorr to such an experiment, but I believe we could get the information we need without doing him any real harm."
Nathan turned back to her, seemingly annoyed that she'd disagreed with him yet again, "What good would it do to have him unconscious ... how can we get the information necessary without having him ... say, fully functional?"
"The mind is never fully at rest ... some neurons continue firing even while a subject is in a deep coma ... hence the dreaming that most humanoids experience while they sleep and some of the out of body experiences they claim to have while they are unconscious. So, even while he is unconscious we should still be able to see what affect the chip is having on him and perhaps we can activate the telepathic link ... and see where it goes."

As Matt was looking at his console to retrieve the information for Zhuk, Lieutenant Quindara announced an urgent subspace message coming through from Starbase Assailant.
"Put it on screen, Lieutenant."
The sweeping stars-scape was quickly replaced with the image of a Bolian Commander, Commander Zoilop. Zhuk recalled that this officer was a long-time friend of Admiral Lin, another reason to ensure the Admiral's safe return.
"Commander Zoilop, you are not one to make social calls."
Zhukarak was not sure if he detected a slight glint of a smile or not, at his light attempt of a joke.
=^=I have important information for you regarding Admiral Magellan. The Hanson was just reported attacking an outpost in the Zibal system. They are a recently warp capable species and unable to match an Intrepid.=^=
~So the attack on the Hanson is no longer conjecture, she is now in the hands of Admiral Lin...Loran.~ Zhuk thought to himself.
"Understood Commander, we're on our way."
=^=Oh and take care things are warming up on the Klingon Border. A major dispute between them and the Tholians could well be spilling out into our space=^=
"Not to mention that Ad...Loran could get the Federation in the middle of this with the use of the Hanson."
Zhukarak turned his attention to the helmsman. "Ensign Chen, get us there at maximum warp. Get with engineering, I don't care if our nacelles fall off. We have a war to prevent."
Then Zhuk looked back at the viewscreen and gave an affirmative nod to which Commander Zoilop signed off.
=^=Good hunting. Assailant Out=^=
An idea popped into his head, it was something Admiral Drew had mentioned earlier. He looked over at the Admiral who then turned his attention to him. "Admiral, you mentioned that Loran could have used Lin's command codes against us, which we now have changed. We may be able to do the same with the Hanson, provided that Loran is not in complete control of the body, and Lin may have been keeping the thoughts of changing the Hanson's command codes in the background...in other words Loran might not have changed them...yet."
"If you are correct, we may have a chance of disabling the Hanson without needing to fire a shot. By the stars I hope you are right, at least it's worth a shot."
Zhuk hoped he was right. He didn't want unnecessary bloodshed on his hands, especially not of young innocent Starfleet cadets.

Overall, Daran agreed with Raleva's assessment. It was very unlikely that the chip being inserted into a hologram would have any reaction whatsoever. As advanced as the computers aboard the Jefferson were, they still didn't have the subtlety to imitate the entirety of a humanoid nervous system. Re-inserting the chip was an obvious solution.
However, there were some problems. "I'm afraid that I'm not behind the idea of inserting the chip back into Mr. Gorr. The oath I took as a doctor prevents me from doing harm if it can be avoided, and it's been demonstrated that the chip is detrimental to Gorr's health."
Raleva looked at the young doctor. "Do you have any other suggestions then?" she asked.
Daran stared at the readouts from the chip on the medical console for a long moment. "I think that the mental instability that the chip causes is a result of the chip taking electrical energy from the body of its' host. The brain finds itself in energy shortfall and takes energy from other areas, which shut down. Eventually the shut down areas atrophy, causing the instability. If we power the chip externally, as it is now, and amplify its' effect, we might to enable Gorr to activate the chip while it is still outside his body, perhaps in tandem with using a neural stimulator on him and the help of the telepaths on board."
"Why would he do that?" Nathan asked.
Daran shrugged. "I doubt that he was told that the chip would cause mental instability and eventual brain damage. Perhaps we could use that."

"How long before we arrive at the reported coordinates?"
Matt didn't respond at first, since he wasn't entirely sure of the answer. The Hanson was last known to be near Zibal system which at max warp would take thirtyfour hours. Matt was positive that the Hanson was no longer located in tha system, but it would be best to start there. Hopefully there would be a clue when they arrived. Matt was about to report to the Captain when a message from Assailant came through.
As he listened to the conversation between Commander Zollip and Colonel Hrisvalar, Matt was pleased to know that his conclusion was correct. This of course caused another problem, Loran was currently in command of the Hanson. The Hanson was filled with inexperienced Academy cadets. Cadets who could possibily die in a possible firefight between the two ships.
"Captain at max warp we will reach Zibal in a day in a half," Matt reported once the viewscreen went black. After doing this Matt turned his attention back to the Hanson. It had been over a year since he was on the Hanson, but he was positive that he knew her systems. The Hanson was a great ship but it was prone to viruses.
"Admiral, I'm sure you know the Hanson's history concerning computer viruses," Matt said," what if we download a virus into the ships computer core. We wouldn't have to fire a shot and the cadets wouldn't be in any danger."
~Well expect from S'reena~ Matt thought as he waited for Admiral Drew's response.

"But if we tell him about the brain damage and atrophy, I daresay he'll be less willing to co-operate. Is there no way to re-create this in a virtual environment? Having the computer duplicate Gorr's responses, while Gorr is somehow connected...but not quite so directly?"
Nathan was getting a bit tired of his suggestions being shot right back at him. Perhaps he wasn't a trauma specialist, but at least he was a qualified medical practioner, with a full medical degree. Sure, he'd specialised in child- and women's care but that didn't make him any less capable in other area's. Of course, he never really did try out other area's, but he was capable if he set himself to it.
He turned to Laurana. "You mentioned this ceremony, I'm sorry that I can't pronounce that name. You mentioned finding it tough to find volunteers, wouldn't it be up to Magellan to select his volunteers? I can imagine he'd want close friends to portray his past hosts. Of course, with this dire situation that may not be entirely possible, but there's a capable senior staff on this vessel that could be asked to volunteer, isn't there? If asked, and approved, I'd volunteer to participate. I'm aware of the dangers, but if we do this in a controlled environment, we could partly control the dangers could we not?"

Raleva considered Nathan's suggestion as well as Doctor Keller's.
"I think perhaps that Doctor van Breughel," Raleva began ... she nearly smiled as he appeared to begin defending his idea before she'd even voiced her opinion, "may have a good idea, but as I said, it is almost impossible for a computer to simulate the actions of the humanoid mind. I think that use of the computer is out in that area, but the idea of accessing the chip without re-inserting it should be pursued. I know that as a telepath I can link Gorr to the chip without causing him any harm, though I worry that my inexperience may cause problems. I am not, by any means, a prolific telepath ... "
Nathan, in the process of replying to a bad assessment of his initial idea stopped with his mouth open and then simply stared at her, "Wait ... you think my idea could work?"
Raleva smiled a bit, "Of course it could. All we need to do is recreate the physical conditions ..." she waved toward the chip in its current state, "Done. Now we need to get Mr. Gorr and a skilled telepath in this room together and we should be in business. This is a betazoid design and some betazoids spend years learning how to activate them telepathically. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. So ... "
She considered a moment and then smiled to herself.

Lauraana shook her head, "The zhian tara is deeply personal, and normally yes the host would choose the volunteers but Magellan isnt in control and its unlikely Loran will allow him to take part so easily." she paused a moment, "Consider the symbiont as a jar, in the jar are 5 balls each representing a host. The current host is the dominant one and sits on top. Somehow Magellans ball has dropped down and Lorans is now at the top. In order to get them back in the right order we first need to open the jar and remove all the balls and replace them in the right order - this is what the Zhian tara will do - it will open and empty the jar. As for the dangers, I m not concerned about the physicality of it, Im sure starfleet forcefields are capable of holding him its the mental shock. These volunteers hand their bodies over to another mind. They blend with that mind. Someone will have to blend with Loran - A cold blooded murder and evil intellect -would you be willing to allow your mind to be effected in such a way, we dont know how many residuals there could be in non trills. I heard once of the Dax symbiont having difficulty getting one of her hosts to return to teh symbiont, they possessed one of her friends. Make no mistake I want Magellan healed but this is no walk in the park, Ithink our greatest benefit is the number of Betazoids aboard, they could well hold the key. I am satisfied however that we are as ready as we can ever be... we just need Magellan now"

Grace entered sickbay during Lauraana's explaination regarding volunteers for Loran's host.
"I would be willing to be the host for Loran. Since I have no memory of my past, I think it would be interesting to take on such a complex personality. It would be a fascinating study from a psychologist's perspective"
"Counselor, did you say you have no memory of your past! How could this be?" Lauraana asked.
"I was abducted from Earth's past and brought to this time by the Borg. The only memories I have are after I was rescued from the Borg ship and flashbacks."
"You realize, Counselor, that this could harm you most grievously. You could also do harm to those around you. From what I have observed of you, you seem to be a very tranquil person, Loran oculd change your personality dramatically." Lauraana remarked.
"I fully understand the risk, Guardian, and I am willing to leave it to our head of security, Major Johnson, to subdue me if the need be. Cyle and I go way back, he has my full trust to do the right thing."
<Tag anyone> "Now I received a message from Raleva, am I correct in assuming the volunteer for Loran was not the reason for the summons?"
<Tag Raleva>
"I'd be willing to try that. I don't believe it will be too difficult a process. If Mr. Gorr be is a willing participant, then the process should go smoother. I think it is important he understand what we intend to do and why. Also, that the procedure should be painless."
<Tag someone in sickbay>
"At least I know for certain that my part is painless to him. I would imagine that I would be the first one to experience any pain from the chip before Gorr and should be able to sever the link if the situation required me to do so."

While sitting nearby at a desk, Stuart could hear them in the background discussing the next steps in how to proceed with the chip, but his mind was elsewhere again.... ~T'Val, are you there?~ He knew that something was happening to her as he was getting flashes of images in his mind from her. She was highly distressed with his absence from her side and her emotions were getting the best of her. During those flashes in his mind he could sense something else going on with her, something very strange and new. It was this very thing that was her cause of distress.
Stuart left his current surroundings, from within his mind he could see a meadow with a small river. It's water making that trickling noise as it flowed by his feet...no...her feet. ~T'Val, can you hear me?~ He heard no response, but sensed a slight smile upon her face. The distance was obviously too great for direct telepathic communication, especially with only one really being the telepath as his was only by the virtue of their bond, but somehow he knew that she noticed his presence.
His vision turned to the blue sky with an evening twilight on the horizon. Birds chirped in the trees as they were settling in for the night. The water was cool as it flowed through her toes...
"Doctor Mercy...doctor..."
Stuart's eyes refocused as he was brought back to his own reality. It was Doctor Keller who had addressed him with Doctor van Breughel looking on suspiciously. "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I am. I was just, uh, going over all the possibilities of what we are about to do."
Stuart was recalling the conversations, trying hard to recall what all everyone had said. He rose from the chair and approached the vid-screen of the chip. While looking at it he started to speak.
"I partially agree with Doctor Keller about causing undue harm to Gorr, this chip's original host, but I have a feeling that it won't operate properly without it's physical being within his body. Yes, the chip is ultimately detrimental to his health but he has been living with it up until now without any ill effects. We could set up an isolation forcefield around the chip if it was to start attacking his system, and effectively shut it down. Maybe Counselor Mitchell's ability can help in that regard as well."
The other two doctors gave an incredulous look at Stuart, as if he was crazy going against the Hippocratic Oath to which he responded. "It is unfortunate that we don't know or understand the properties of this chip, and we probably won't unless we reinsert it back into Gorr's body. Reinserting it should not be harmful and we will certainly do everything within our power to not kill him. The fact remains however, Gorr is a criminal and our primary goal is to ensure that we save Admiral Lin's life first, as horrible as that thought might be."

Daran looked over at Stuart with a shocked look on his face, as the others in the room remained silent at Stuart's callous statement.
"Commander Mercy, as the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Jefferson, I formally refuse to take any action that I feel will risk the life of another, even if he is a criminal and it may be of benefit to Admiral Lin. If you wish to appeal my decision, then you may go to Colonel Hrisvalar and have me relieved of my duties. In the meantime, this Sickbay will prepare for the actions that I have indicated. Dr. van Breughel, please prepare a neural stimulator for use on Mr. Gorr. Mr. Pudlo, I would like you to work with me to create an amplification matrix for the isolinear chip. Commander Mitchell, I would like it if you would organize the telepaths on board and come up with some way to create a telepathic link between the chip and Mr. Gorr" Daran ordered.

"Dr. Keller, I believe the Vulcan way of connecting telepathically may be our best chance of working without harm to Gorr. I am well versed in that technique as and have used it several times with great success. I volunteer to attempt it.
<Tag Daran>
Grace thought for a moment then said "I believe if anyone would get adverse effects from the chip, it would be me and I can sever the link if that should happen."
<Tag doctors>
"I believe I am the best qualified, Doctor Mercy, after all I am a practicing psychologist. Also, in my previous life before the Borg, I was a practicing physician." Grace replied.
<Tag anyone in sickbay>
"Now, now, now. All of you relax, you have a willing volunteer in front of you. If it would ease your minds in anyway, my telepathy has a number of levels of defense that seem to activate when needed. That is why I know I can come out of this link without any adverse effects. That is why I know when we find the Admiral I will be able to take on the Loran personality. My telepathic defenses should kick in to keep her separated from my own. Lastly, don't make me pull rank, I am a Commander and was once the FO of this ship." If Grace hadn't been smiling when she said the last part of her statment the others might of thought she was serious.

Cyle looked around as Grace was talking in sickbay, he simply stood by and watched, one of the few "techniques" of getting people to take him seriously. He didnt talk much while he did this, just simply stood and watched taking in everything.
'I hope you know what you are doing Grace' Cyle thought to himself.
"Grace, has on odd ability with her telepathy, from what i have seen, she doesnt excatly need to use it, it uses itself, if you understand my meaning" Cyle said rather quickly, keeping a stern face, and receiving a smile from Grace.

Grace smiled at Cyle, then thought to herself ~Finally, someone who understands how my telepathy works.~
All around her Grace could hear the different opinions being bandied around as she was listening she began to see someplace that wasn't the Jefferson sickbay. It was the bridge on the Hanson, she was seeing through the eyes of Magellan. There was no conversation, but Grace could tell that the Loran host was in control of Magellan's body but not in full control of Magellan's mind.
Cyle looked over and notice Grace was a bit distracted, that was his cue, he remembered seeing her like this once before and he knew that Grace was having a vision.
Just as suddenly, the vision was gone. "Well, everyone, I think we'd better get this show on the road. I was just on the bridge of the Hanson looking through the eyes of Magellan. Loran has almost total control right now. We need to find out where and get to where the Hanson is, people. We need answers!!"

Nathan froze when he witnessed Mercy's outrageous suggestions. He'd been about to prepare for Grace's telepathic link with Gorr, and to monitor her while she was at it. Yet, he couldn't help but sympathize with the younger doctor's assessment. Gorr was a criminal, and though even criminals had a right to life, Nathan couldn't help but feel that he wouldn't be sorry if this one died. After all, he had helped a fleeing suspect, among a few more severe items.
"I'm afraid on this issue I agree with Doctor Mercy," he spoke up, as he prepared the neuro stimulator and handed it to Keller. "Certainly we must do all we can to keep Gorr alive, but Magellan and Lin do have our priority. I've learned that Magellan Lin is a well-liked, and respected officer. His death might destabilise the entire sector, so saving him must have all prioity. Everything else is of lesser importance right now."
From the corner of his eyes he saw Grace sway a little on her feet as her eyes onfocused. Seeing that Cyle was there to assist her, he turned back to Mercy. "And doctor, about that physical I suggested earlier...don't make me order it. You fazed out again and it took Doctor Keller several minutes to make you snap out of it. And if your behaviour might become of risk to this ship and crew's safety, we have the authority to examine you without your consent."
He cast the younger man a pleasant smile. "I'm sure your mind would be at more ease knowing whether you'd be a danger to us or not. Not to mention a willing subject is far more pleasant than an unwilling one. The result would only be shared with Colonel Hrisvalar, no-one else needs to know."

"Commander how do you know so much about the Hanson?" Admiral Drew asked purplexed.
"Sir, I served on the Hanson during my tour in the Academy," Matt responded," during that mission the Hanson was infested with a mutated virus and my brother recently told me a similar siutated happened no long ago. The Hanson is a great ship, but we could exploit it."
Matt knew that no captain liked it when someone told them there ship had a flaw. He undestood the reaction, he felt the same way towards the Jefferson. He could clearly remember his instructor teaching him a way to bypass the Hanson's major systems. As it was happening, Matt had told himself that he would never need to use them, but here he was suggesting the very exact thing.
"Colonel, your plan could and most likely work as well, but I feel that I should give you another option," Matt said," Admiral from what my brother has told me the instructors on the Hanson are top notch. S'reena will come up with something, but we both know that she sometimes does things that are questionable."

"Well sir I don't mean to rush you or anything, but do I have permission to follow this course of action?" Matt asked.

****** Caleb's Point of View
His birthday had come and gone and Caleb was still enjoying it's aftereffects. Matt had showered Caleb with so many gifts that Caleb had secretly given some of them away to the other children on the ship.
In the year since escaping from the cloud, Caleb had learned many things and had also learned to accept all kinds of people. On the Raven he had actually made a friend with a Klingon. He still mistrusted them, but he realized that not all of them were bad people.
"Caleb, please finish your work," Valerie said as she attented to the other students in her class.
"I'm already finished, I've been done for ten minutes," Caleb responded.
"What I gave you all work to last you for five hours," Valerie said surprised.
"Really, I found it really easy," Caleb responded.
"Easy that was advance microbiology, I don't get all of it," Valerie said checking the padd that Caleb had worked on. The young ensign was surprised to see that all the answers were in fact correct.
"You know pretty soon you are going to have to get indivual lessons," Valerie said.
"Yeah my dad told me that he have to start and teach me some things himself," Caleb said now rather bored.
"If it is okay, could I leave?" Caleb asked hoping that he could run into some of the new senior staff. Especially the new marine who seems to make Matt really mad. Caleb would really like to give him an earful.

Stuart had to give it to the young doctor, not that he was much younger than himself. He took charge of his sickbay and that was to be applauded, even if it was for the wrong reasons. Stuart knew that he didn't require anyone's permission to take over this sickbay. Stuart was the senior medical officer onboard, outranking the others. In fact, it would require an appeal to the Commanding Officer of the ship to keep Doctor Keller in charge.
"Doctor Keller, don't be all smug and give me this 'I will do no harm' speech. Was it not you who rushed off to the planet with a phaser in hand, unauthorized may I add, ready to rescue someone who is close to you, even if it meant the death of someone else?" Stuart saw the realization of those words in Doctor Keller's eyes. "I have no reason to dought your theory, but you can't be one hundred percent certain that it will work as designed as when the chip is actually in place, within Gorr's body. You cannot ensure that all neural pathways are properly activated by mere telepathy."
Stuart gave a short pause before he continued on with Doctor van Breughel. "And as far as my present condition is concerned...well it is of no concern to you at the moment. Infact I am aware what the cause is and I will excuse myself if I feel that I am hindering our current mission, which is the safe return of Admiral Lin. Now, out of COURTESY I will see your Colonel and discuss our various procedure options with him. Until then, you are ORDERED not to continue!" Stuart walked out of sickbay at a quick pace, knowing he had nothing but eyes following him out.

"Well sir I don't mean to rush you or anything, but do I have permission to follow this course of action?" Matt asked.
"Yes, go ahead and set it up."
Just then, Doctor Mercy stormed onto the bridge and headed directly for Zhuk.
"Colonel, could I have a word with you?"
"Certainly. Let's go into my Ready Room."
Zhukarak stood and offered Doctor Mercy to go on ahead of him. As they entered his Ready Room, Doctor Mercy immediately began with verbal attacks at the Jefferson's doctors. Zhukarak had to slow him down to get to the bottom of what he was trying to say.
After a few long minutes of listening and finally understanding what the dilemma was between Doctors Mercy and Keller, Zhukarak needed a moment to digest and think things over.
"What are the chances of success for Doctor Keller?" Zhuk asked Doctor Mercy.
"Admittedly, they should be around ninety percent."
"And your way should be one hundred percent as the chip is physically in place and operating as it should be, with the exception that it may kill Gorr."
"Yes, correct."
Zhukarak tapped his comm badge.
"Doctor Keller. Please report to my Ready Room."
=/\= Om my way, sir. =/\=
Zhuk thought about it some more while waiting for Daran to show. He understood both of their positions, but there was also this power struggle he had to alleviate.
Daran entered the Ready Room and politely stood there, awaiting further instructions. The two doctors locked eyes with each other, but not really in disgust of one another, it was more of a professional stare...who would win.
"Gentlemen, I understand the severity of both procedures and I'm not going to order who is to be in charge here. I think the two of you are professional enough to be able to work together with what I'm about to suggest. Doctor Keller, I want you to continue with your procedure, but the moment it is obvious that not all data is being received as it should be I want for Doctor Mercy to have that chip reinserted immediately."
It seemed like an amicable solution. Doctor Keller would be able to proceed and not worry about causing further harm, and if things didn't work out, Doctor Mercy would reinsert the chip as he was willing to take that chance. The two doctors agreed and were dismissed.

Loran stood impassivley on the bridge as krork and his staff attempted to familiarise themselves with the Starfleet Ship. Their firsttest on themining colony had gone well and the Hansons hold was now filled with ore that would fetch a tidy profit on the black market.
She watched the Klingons at work wondering at how such great warriors could be so dense. She almost wish she had kept some of the Hanson crew aboard to act as slaves and run theship, but she knew that they would have acted against her at every opportunity, no leave them to their new home.
She paused a moment as a strange sensation struck her, a slight disembodiment. Not like the times when Gethin, Bryson or theothers asserted themselves in the blend this was something...alien, something subtle. She paused and reached into Magellans memorys searching for any information. Nothing seemed forthcoming but Loran was certain the sensation meant something... almost as if she had not been alone for a moment.
Telepathy was not something she was familiar with but she supposed that it wasnt worth the risk, Starfleet had plenty of telepathic members and she suspected Starfleet hadnt yet given up on rescuing Lin. Fierce pain stabbed through her head, all the hosts screamed in agony, she bent double.
"Loran?" Krork queried
"I m fine, keep working and find a place to hide this ship, try that asteroid belt> I m going to my quarters"
Loran staggered back to her room, one that had once belonged to a vulcan or romuland, the decor wasnt particularly clear. She barely held control of the body as she slumped on to the bed. These episodes were getting more frequent, her hold harder to maintain, she could almost feel the agony and turmol in Lin. She feared the worst... Lin could well be dying. Forcing herself up the attack began to pass and she accessed the computer, "Computer... connect to the nearest Starfleet interface, locate the nearest Trill Medical specialist" "There is a Dr Takl Gam on Torto IV, a Dr Timics on Tapal, Dr utlak on the USS Ratak and a Guardian Laurana currently aboard the USS Jefferson in the next sector. There is..."
"Computer halt." she paused and thought, It would be risky attacking a second starship but they wouldnt be expecting an attack from a fellow starfleet ship and besides she had the memories of a starfleet admiral... it wouldnt take much to sneak up on them and seize their medical staff, then perhaps they could explain the terrible pains she was having.
=^=Krork, belay that last order, theres more profit in a second starfleet ship - how would you like a Sovreign class to play with=^= she could just visuallise his toothy grin, "Set course for the Jefferson, and try and make it look like we are starfleet, we must use trickery to take such a ship, and no-one should know we are now in control of the Hanson.=^=

OOC alright, i get to fight with an admiral
IC
Cyle watched as the procedings continued, everyone argueing over wether or not Gorr should have this "surgery" involving the chip, from what Cyle could tell, it more a battle of the doctors than anything, he didnt care if this criminal died, just another one he wouldnt have to hunt down
"so, now what?" Cyle asked after a flurry of words came streaming out of a doctor, who then left sickbay, Cyle looking back and forth between the people talking in sickbay

As Stuart stalked out of sickbay, Nathan quietly snapped his medical tricorder shut and held it out to Daran. "Maybe a little unethical but I believe his behaviour may endanger us all. While you two were argueing I've taken readings of him with this tricorder. Use it as you see fit. I may agree with him on certain things, but the safety of this vessel and crew comes before everything else, even the life of a flag admiral."
The little green flying creature, who had been left behind in sickbay, glared balefully at them as she screeched in what seemed to be anger. As Grace seemed to be able to understand Theel'ziin, Nathan glanced at her to have the Colonel's blue keep this green menace in check. She nodded and a second later the green settled down.
"Somehow, I don't feel we should upset that one too much," Nathan murmured as he glanced at Raleva. "Thoughts?" he asked her.

Raleva stood back and watched the ensuing circus with muted amusement sprinkled with anxiety and general unease. As Daran and Mercy "macho-ed" it out in front of her, she managed to wedge herself into the corner and when the senior officer turned about and marched out, Nathan came up to her.
"Nathan, I'm not sure we should push his buttons," she replied before turning back to Daran and Nathan collectively, "I cannot believe what I am hearing from you two ... doctors in regards to the Gorr situation. I am surprised at all three of you. When it comes to lives, who those lives belong to should not be an issue! An admiral is no more valuable than a politician, a diplomat, or a criminal. Really, I am shocked ... but that doesn't matter."
Of course, Raleva had no authority on the matter, she was effectively outranked and out positioned; however, she was more than prepared to remember this incident for future reference. She sighed and waved off any further arguements, they didn't have time for something like that. They had their orders and she wasn't about to continue beating a dead horse.
"My feelings aside, shall we continue?" she asked plainly, with more than a tiny hint of dread and disapproval.

"Monica if you don't mind could I take my old station back," Matt said as he tapped his old assistants shoulder.
"What if I said no?" Monica responded as she left her seat.
"You know I never gave that posibility a thought," Matt said as he took his old seat. It was great to mann the operations console again, just like old times. Matt quickly began the process of making a virus that would be effective. Making a virsus was easy enough, but not allowing it to mutate was the real problem. A mutated virus was very dangerous and it was Matt's job to prevent this from happening. After about ten minutes of making the parameters of the virus, Matt realized that he wouldn't be able to finish this on the bridge.
"Monica, I will be heading down towards the science lab," Matt said," you have the bridge. Contact me when we are a parsec away from our destination."
"Understood, Commander," Monica responded as she took the center seat. Matt quickly transferred his work to the science lab and was soon on his way. Hopefully he would be able to finish the virus quickly and as soon as the Jefferson met up with the Hanson he would download the virus and ask questions later.
"Computer what is the approxiamte time until we reach our coordinates?" Matt asked.
"Approxiamte time is twleve hours, seventeen minutes, and three seconds."
"Well then I need to get working," Matt said as he reached the science lab.
=^=Quindara to Reynolds, we have a slight problem=^=
=^=What type of problem?=^=
=^=Our long range sensors have picked up a Federation starship heading our way. Matt it's the Hanson and it will intercept us in ten hours=^=
=^=Okay, report this to the Captain and get every department ready for a possible battle=^=
=^=Understood, Quindara out=^=
"Computer go to silent yellow alert, in seven hours go to silent red alert," Matt ordered.
"Silent yellow alert activated."

he wouldn't admit it, but Jeff was glad for the Yellow alert. It gave him an excuse to get out of sickbay. The doctors seemed to know what they were doing, And Jeff was not a help anymore.
In engineering, he noticed a few compartments were open- to the shield and weapons arrays. Mrak, the assistant chief- and a good one at that- Burst in, seeing the look on Jeff's Face. "routine maintenance work. we detected a few glitches that if left unfixed could knock our weapons down to half power and our shields just as low If exposed to some rare forms of radiation. It's easy and quick enough to fix, but we would have to take the entire system offline to fix each one. Yellow alert Regs prevent that, so we'll just have to..."
"Cross our fingers and hope for the best? Not on my watch. How long?" Jeff asked, taking The PADD Mrak was handing him.
"20, possibly 30 minutes per system." Jeff looked at Mrak. The man would make a good Chief engineer himself someday, though he didn't have the mandatory take charge personality.
or at least I haven't seen it Jeff thought. perhaps I just haven't seen it when I'm in the room. Only room for one bullheaded one...
"Right, I'll talk to the Captain about doing those repairs. if we do wind up in a firefight, I don't want any chance our shields or phasers will weaken." With that, Jeff turned into the turbolift to the bridge. Being a department head was both a blessing and a curse.
Stepping out onto the bridge, Jeff walked over to Zuck.
"Capitan, I need your permission to do repairs on the shields and Phasers. They're not aligned right, and need to be checked. otherwise, our shields and phasers might drop to half strength or lower. the Fix is quick and Easy, we just need half an hour for each system."
<zhuk>
OOC: if you want to be a stickler with regs and not do the repairs, that would put us on par with the Hanson....

Zhukarak had been in his quarters for a few hours now, catching up on some much needed rest. Theel'zhiin was on the table eating strips of fresh meat, bacon if Zhuk remembered the terran terminology for it correctly.
Suddenly several amber lights flashed on and off within his quarters indicating a silent yellow alert. Zhukarak left Theel'zhiin to his meal and strode off for the bridge immediately. Monica Quindara was in the command chair.
"Report!"
"Sir, the Hanson is headed directly for us. It seems they are on an intercept course."
Zhukarak took his seat as Monica rose and headed for the Ops console. He looked over his command chair console for the information he needed; time to intercept, speed, heading, and more.
Zhuk could hear the turbolift doors swish open and closed, but his thoughts were still at his console. He saw that Major Johnson and Captain Potter already had standing orders to create a boarding party, he hoped it wouldn't come to that. He didn't want to have anyone from the Hanson injured.
Jeff Pudlo walked up with his request to get some needed repairs and calibrations going. It meant violating yellow alert protocols, but Zhuk noted that they still had about ten hours left.
"Yes, I just saw your section status report, Mr. Pudlo. Go ahead and do the repairs. I only want one critical system down at a time though. I don't feel like getting caught with my...hands in the cookie jar, I think the human term is."
Zhuk saw Jeff give a slight chuckle before he straigthened up again.
"I think you meant with our pants down, sir. I'll be happy to explain it, but I think I'll get to these repairs first."
Zhuk's antennae leaned back as part of his confusion as he tried to visualize the pants down analogy. He looked around noting a few smiles on the other bridge officers as they continued with their duties.
Zhukarak turned his attention back to the mission at hand. Those doctors shouls have been done by now. Zhuk tapped the comm buttton on his console.
"Doctor Keller, report!"

Grace placed one of her hands on Gorr's face, establishing a link between his neurons. Grace placed her other hand on the chip, with in seconds of the contact the chip came alive. Dr. Kellar began taking readings, Dr Mercy observed the process and hoped the link would prove fruitful.
<Tag Kellar, Mercy, Nathan and Raleva. I'm not good with technical!>
After she finished being the link between Gorr and the chip, Grace headed to the bridge. As she entered the turbolift she was struck with a vision.
The vision was of Loran on the bridge of the Hanson but she was in pain. Her head hurt. Lin was becoming very ill. Loran needed a doctor well versed in Trill physiology.
The doors to the turbolift opened, Zhuk turned to see Grace, her face was quite pale and seemed to not be able to see anyone or thing around her. Zhuk walked over to the turbolift and guided Grace off of it, waiting for her vision to finish.
Zhuk didn't have to wait too long, Grace explained what she had seen and heard to Zhuk and Admrial Drew. "It would seem Loran felt me in her mind as well, but was unable to actually hear me during the process. In essence, she doesn't know we are coming after her, she only wants us for our medical staff. Loran knows the Guardian is here. I have an idea."
Zhuk looked at the Admiral then back at Grace, "Alright, what is your idea?" Zhuk asked.
"Why not let her 'capture a 'fake' Guardian, meaning myself, and a couple 'fake' doctors, like Cyle and Leo. We could infiltrate the Hanson and possibly subdue Loran and the rest of her people."
