An alarm started beeping insistingly on one of the consoles in shuttlecraft Promise. However, at first no-one present in the shuttle noticed it, as they were too engrossed in deciphering the readings they were getting from a probe they had sent into the cloud earlier.
When the alarm started to sound louder, and actually started to become unignorable, T'Val sighed and returned to the science console to have a look at what was causing it. "Commander," T'Vall called, beckoning Reynolds, "have a look at this. Something is pulling the Jefferson into the cloud and they have only approximately ten minutes left before the bow makes contact with the outer rim of that cloud."
She tapped a few buttons on the console, and it gave an overview map of their current situation. "At present, this cloud seems to be pulling in the Jefferson only. It does not seem to notice us, at least does not seem to actively mind us. We too are on course into the cloud, but we are being pulled in at a far lesser rate than the Jefferson, which is a much larger target. Suggestions sir?"
<Reynolds>
A sharp jolt threw everyone in the shuttle off their feet. "What was that?" T'Val asked, as she accepted Reynolds assistance in getting back to her feet. Glancing at the map that was still on display, she saw that they were now being pulled in at a rate directionally proportional to the size and rate of the Jefferson. "So much for being small," she muttered.

This cloud was a goldmine for a scientist, Matt was so happy that the Jefferson at the moment didn't have a Chief Science Officer and that Admiral Loskene had given him the job.
The cloud was one of a kind, nothing like it was ever encountered by the Federation. The most unusual thing about the cloud was its make-up. The outside of the cloud was jsut space dust and normal elemental substances, but the inside was unnatural. In fact Matt thought the cloud had something inside of it that would prove it to be something much more.
"Its like the cloud has a magentic pull," Matt said," but the only thing big enough to cause a pull on a Soverign is a.."
"World," Ensign White said. At first it sounded ridiculous to Matt, but the more he thougth about it the more it made sense.
The next second a very sharp jolt pushed everyone from their seats. Matt fell down but was lucky enough to find support on a console did not hurt himself.
"Is everyone alright?" Matt asked as he helped the Doctor up.
"Aye sir," the two officers responded. Matt knew already what had just happened and didn't need for the T'Val to tell him. They were now being pulled in at the same rate as the Jefferson.
"So much for being small," she muttered.
The grip that Matt had on the console had tightend as he realized that if the Promise entered the cloud they would be destroyed. They did not have any protective armor, so there last minutes would be those of panic and chaos.
"Is there anyway that we can make our way to the Jefferson?" Matt asked of T'Val.

All eyes were glued to the viewscreen as the Jefferson came within "arms length" of the cloud.
Johnson: We will breach the cloud in 20 seconds. The shuttle has already breached the cloud, but we can't get through to them at the moment.
Loskene wasn't sure if communications were fully functional, but still he opened a ship wide channel.
Loskene: All decks, brace for impact.
Soon after, the Jefferson was met with a slight thud, and it was a bumpy ride but not disastrous.
Loskene: When will we be able to see what's inside? And any sign of the shuttle?
Johnson and the science officer remained silent as they tried to get a reading.
Science officer: Nothing yet sir. The shuttle couldn't have gone very far, though.
Johnson: If the ship holds together, we should be in visual range of whatever is inside this cloud in about a minute.
Science Officer: Sir, I'm reading a small object to our stern, approaching slowly. I believe it's the shuttle, it seems to be caught in the same gravitational force...
Loskene: Lock a tractor beam on them.
Science Officer: No effect, sir. The cloud is disrupting the beam. I'm not able to communicate with them either, I believe it's the dampening field.
Loskene: Well, at least they're still alive.
Johnson: Sir, we have passed the barrier, and we have visual!
Loskene and others looked on as the Jefferson approached the object.
Johnson: It's a large sphere, Diameter is 15,745.591 km, a little larger then Earth.
Loskene: So Q was right...It is a planet. Life signs?
Science Officer: I can't tell at the moment, we will need to get closer. Wait, I'm detecting almost 9.5 billion life signs. There is definitely a population down there.
Loskene: How is that possible? How could they survive the time distortions?
The science officer shook his head.
Science Officer: I'm detecting a variety of species. Humans, Klingons, Cardassians, Hirogen, Romulans, Vulcans......and many others...
Loskene: This doesn't make any sense. How could all those species live on the same planet? How did they get here??
A face appeared in the viewscreen, and it was Q.
Q: I thought you were smarter then this. If you can't put the pieces together, then you deserve your fate.
Loskene: This is something that has never been encountered before.
Q: Not by you, anyway.
Loskene: How can we deal with something, when we don't even know what we're dealing with?!
Q: Surely you remember what I told you. It's an experiment. These various aliens on the planet have been ripped from their worlds through dimensional rifts, and they are all forced to exist together. Not just other worlds, but other times as well. You have ancient humans living with 24th century Romulans and so on and so forth. It's a chimera, a hideous experiment for their captors amusement. You are the next unlucky bunch to be dropped off. Unless you can find your way out, that is.
Loskene: My god... How do they survive?
Q: They barely don't. There have been many quarrels and wars between everyone. It is what you people call hell. It's a miracle they haven't blown themselves apart.
Loskene: Q...please...tell us what we can do. Why are you here in the first place, if not to help us, then what? More games? You're no better then the people who built this experiment.
Q: I'm putting myself at great risk as it is. If I go any further, my superiors will not tolerate it.
Loskene: Then get the hell off my ship, I don't want to see you, hear you, or deal with you again.
Soon after, Q vanished. Everyone on the bridge remained silent as they took in the information they had been given. Someone finally broke the silence.
Matthews: Sir, the Promise is hailing us. Communication appears to be restored.
Johnson: The cloud has ceased pulling on us sir.
Loskene: Well, that's good news.
Science Officer: Yes, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I must say that the Jefferson will not last long in here. The interior of the cloud is starting to take a toll on our hull.
Loskene: Open a channel to the Promise. Promise, this is the Jefferson, what is your status?

He had troulbe concentrating, so had problesm rembering what was happening. He looked around for amoment then went back to checking the systems on his console

It was hopeless, Healer T'Val had told him that there was no way that the Promise was going to make it to the Jefferson in time. As a matter of fact the Promise was going to cross the treshold first.
"Okay everyone get into your seats," Matt said," Ensign put all power into shields and life support." This is all they could do at the moment and Matt hoped that it was enough.
Matt and T'Val were the closes to the front of the shuttle so they felt the viloent shocks first. In a matter of seconds everything went blank as the Promise was being beaten by the plasma discharges.
Matt felt something wet on his head and as he moved his hand there he already knew what it was. He was bleeding heavily. Matt felt light headed and tired, but right now he did not matter. Matt made his way towards the body of T'Val and checked her vitals. She was perfectly fine, just a bump on the head.
Matt then made his way towards the two Ensigns, Robert White and Volares. Matt didn't even have to check thier vitals because he already knew they were lost to them. Both of them were burned by the consoles that they were sitting by. The same place Matt had told them to sit in. Matt got closer to the bodies of the ensigns and gave a prayer, one in english and one in Vulcan.
"May the Lord keep you and hold you in his mighty grace," Matt said praying for the first time in years.
"Mene C'thia Katra may it rest Heya Seleya," Matt said. Off: Life, Logic, Soul, may it rest in Mount Seleya
The silence of the shuttle was shattered when the systems came back online. Matt quickly went to the communications console and tried to contact the Jefferson.
"Jefferson this is Commander Reynolds, respond Jefferson," Matt said a bit frantically.
Promise, this is the Jefferson, what is your status?
"Most of our systems are down, myself and T'Val are okay, but unfortunately we lost Ensign White and Volares," Matt said over the comm.
"What are your ordres?" Matt asked.

Jeff was at his station on the bridge when the call came in. "Sir, I would reccomend taht the shuttle get back here. If we have to break free by brute force, then They'll be left behind."
"If we ripped out of here on warp- something I'm rather opposed to trying right now- couldn't they get out by the same means?" Loskene asked.
"Not in that shuttle. The Core is shot. It's good for about a half minute of wapr flight at warp 2. It won't get them out."

T'Val wished Matt would sit still for a few seconds so that she could attend to his injuries. As Matt had already stated, it was pointless to even examine the scientists as it was evident they were beyond saving. The medical facilities aboard the Promise were limited, and there was no way for them to beam back to the Jefferson.
~If we had been able to get there, I could save them both, revive them~ T'Val thought, as she sighed in annoyance. "Commander, please," she exclaimed, as he nearly knocked the tricorder out of her hands, "you have lost a fair amount of blood, you have a concussion and multiple cracked ribs. If I do not see to your injuries you may eventually lose consciousness. I cannot fly this shuttle on my own, not in this situation!"
<Reynolds>
"Thank you commander, now please...sit still!" She saw to his injuries, and then handed him the tricorder. "I am also injured," she said, "I need your assistance, as I cannot treat myself."
<Reynolds>
After all injuries had been seen to, T'Val went to attend to the bodies of the two scientists. She placed them in her cabin, which she was occupying on her own as she was the only female on the team. She had objected to this special treatment, but the men would not hear them. At last she had relented and now Reynolds had no choice but to share with her.
"We need to find a way out of here," she said softly, as she watched the sensor output. They were completely enveloped by the cloud, and were still being drawn in. "Impulse does not provide enough power to break free, and if we chance our faulty warp core, we will be playing with our lives."

OCC: First off welcome to the Jefferson William, just go ahead and start posting. On another note, there is nothing going on between myself and the good doctor, she's already married . Also if you want to pick on me go ahead, but just remember that I will do the same On: Matt went on overdrive trying to reconnect the Promise to the Jefferson. While the Jefferson was relaying instructions the communication was cut off and now he was working hard to try and fix the system, something that seemed to not please the Healer "Commander, please," she exclaimed, as he nearly knocked the tricorder out of her hands, "you have lost a fair amount of blood, you have a concussion and multiple cracked ribs. If I do not see to your injuries you may eventually lose consciousness. I cannot fly this shuttle on my own, not in this situation!" "Okay fine," Matt said giving into the Healer's instructions. Matt felt a slight trickle as the doctor started to heal him, he didn't think that his injuries were to severe, but it was better to let the Helaer do her job. "Thank you commander, now please...sit still!" She saw to his injuries, and then handed him the tricorder. "I am also injured," she said, "I need your assistance, as I cannot treat myself.""Okay, what do I do?" Matt asked. <Tag T'Val> Matt did everything the Healer instructed him to do and soon enough he saw her bruises starting to heal. Matt was always marvaled at teh advancement of the technology, here he was repairing this woman's injuries with limited medical training. After finishing with T'Val's injury, Matt once again started to work on fixing the communications console. He knew that the only way for them to get back to safety was to get in contact with the Jefferson because the Promise was going nowhere anytime soon.

T'Val turned around sharply when she heard a moaning sound, and she thought it was Reynolds moaning in pain. "I administered painkillers, are you still in pain?" she asked him, but he shook his head in reply. "I am hearing a moaning sound," she explained, as she got up from her seat.
She figured that, since they were still being pulled in, and giving an anti-thrust was only using up valuable energy, she might as well just give up on that. "Keep an eye on our direction," she suggested, "I am going to see who else is on this shuttle, as we both know Smith and Volares are dead."
The Vulcan healer tentatively walked around the confined area of the shuttlecraft, then found a human young man wearing a marine's uniform lying under one of the bulkheads. With effort, she pulled him from under it and out into the open space of the shuttle. "Commander!" she called back over her shoulder, "we have a stowaway!"
She gently slapped the first lieutenant on his cheeks. "Lieutenant, wake up," she said, her voice commanding, "who are you and what are you doing on this shuttle?"
<William Hunter>
"You are injured, I am a healer, let me attend to your injuries." She accepted the tricorder and medical kit which Reynolds reached at her, and she shot him an ever so slight smile as thanks. "Concussion, but otherwise unharmed," she concluded, "commander, please get the lieutenant something to drink? He is slightly dehydrated. Thank you."
The Vulcan turned back to Hunter. "Now that you are here, perhaps you can assist...." Before she could finish, the shuttle went into a pitch and seemed to accellerate. "As I was saying," T'Val continued, after catching her balance, "perhaps you can assist Commander Reynolds in repairing the shuttle. I fear that beyond my medical skills I have no engineering skill. All I can attempt is to keep this shuttle on course, as I am a fair pilot, but hardly a trained pilot."
<Hunter/Reynolds>
She felt the force of pressure as the inertial dampeners of the shuttle could not keep up with the change of gravity as the shuttle started to plummet in the direction of the planet.

"I administered painkillers, are you still in pain?" she asked him, but he shook his head in reply. "I am hearing a moaning sound," she explained, as she got up from her seat.
Matt truly confused at what the doctor was saying, maybe she needed some pain killers, but then he heard the moan too. Matt started to look around trying to see where the noise was coming from.
Unfortunaetely he couldn't see anything and went back to his work. Doctor T'Val went on the search alone, and to be honest T'Val hoped that it turned out be nothing. It could complicate things alot for them.
"Did you find anything?" Matt asked a couple of minutes realizing that the doctor had not come back yet. This thought made Matt loose his balance and mistakenly cut the wires connecting the impulse engines to the rest of the ship.
"Damn," Matt screamed out loud.
A few seconds later Doctor T'Val came back with another person, who he learned to be Marine 1st Lt. William Hunter.
"Healer after your finished can you tell me where we are falling?" Matt asked.
"We are on course directly for the planet," T'Val replied as she quickly checked the sensors, "but we are no longer being pulled towards it." Her hands flew over the console as she tried to correct their course. "I am unable to change our course, or reverse thrust. We are going to crash commander, I suggest we prepare for it."
"Okay, Lt. Hunter can you work to get the scanners online, we need to know what is happening," Matt told William as he tried to help as well.

On the jeforson, Everyoine was wating fo another transmission fro the shuttle. It didn't come.
"Captin!" Jeff called out, alarmed. "The shuttle is on a course directly for the planet. It's trying to move, but it's just not responding."
"Confirmed sir." The ensign at Navigation piped up. "they will hit in apporxamatly 45 minutes."
"Suggestions?" Loskene asked, though it sounded mor elike a command.
"Pure mechanics still work- 3 dimentional, normal space dynamics." Jeff put out. "Impulse uses that partally, that's why it works in here. Warp doesn't- it's completly artificail. it doesn't work. So reaason leads me to belive that direct reation thusters are the most efficiant form of propultion in here."
"Those won't gain anywhere the inertia to accually stop the shuttle- or us." Renolds countered.
"Taht's because they are gas emission thrusters- they simply release prussurized gasses into space. I was thinking more along the lines of Rockets."

The shuttlecraft continued to spiral headlong towards the planet, and the three occupants were working hard to get the small craft back on course. Sensors had come back online thanks to the marine first lieutenant, but had done so at the cost of communications, which had gone offline. The Promise was out of control, and plummeted into the planet's atmosphere.
At the helm, T'Val was fighting the controls, trying to get the shuttlecraft level again and slow their descent. The three of them had already resigned in the fact that they were going to crashland somewhere, but they could still try to minimize the damage to their vessel. The Vulcan healer gazed out the main window, fully aware that her two male companions were doing all they could to get communications back online, as well as navigational control.
"The controls are jammed commander," T'Val reported, "there is nothing you can do to repair them. I suggest you and Lieutenant Hunter strap yourselves in, and brace for impact. I am doing all I can to reduce the speed and our impact."
Minutes later, the shuttle still had not reduced any speed and the floor was coming at them rapidly. "Brace for impact!" T'Val called, as the shuttle bore itself nosefirst into the dirt. All occupants were flung from their seats as the small craft bounced a few times, rolling over in the process.
~~~~
When T'Val regained consciousness, she was extremely dizzy. She tried to get to her feet, but found that she was pinned down, and she was having trouble breathing. She couldn't tell how she was pinned down, or by what as she couldn't see anything. "Commander Reynolds?" she called weakly, "Lieutenant Hunter?"
What she could tell, after several minutes had passed by and she was able to think more clearly, was that she was lying on her back, and a heavy weight was keeping her down. ~but to what?~ she thought. She coughed, and pain seared through her chest. T'Val found she could move her arms and hands, and she pressed a hand against her forehead. It came away damp and sticky. ~blood~ she knew ~where are my partners? Are they all right?~
She twisted ever so slightly, ignoring the agony she was experiencing. T'Val knew that she hadn't broken any bones, as she could move both her arms and legs, but there might be an injury because of whatever was holding her down. The pain concentrated itself just below the ribs on her left side, which might mean something sharp was literally pinning her down.
She saw a body sprawled close to her, and from the corner of her eyes she saw movement a little further away. "Commander? Lieutenant?" she called again, her voice gaining some strength. The last thing she remembered was the shuttle bouncing off the muddy floor.
The electric systems on the Promise were shot, there was no way that he could fix the problem in time. Healer T'Val was right the only thing they could do now was brace for impact. Matt was cursing at himself for giving up, but he didn't want to die either and this course of action would minimize the chance of mortal injury.
Matt wanted to close his eyes as the shuttle got closer to the planet, but for some reason they would not close. It was like they were being forced open against their will.
"Brace for impact!" T'Val called. The next moment the Promise went nosefirst into the planet, which destroyed the left wing of the shuttle instantly. Matt didn't know about anything else, because the next second he was out cold.
----
Matt could hear a distant voice, but he didn't have enough strength to lift his body. In fact Matt barely had enough strength to keep his head out of the puddle of water next to his head. He knew if his strengthed wained he would drown in a half-inch of water. After a couple of moments of trying to gain all his strength, Matt pushed up, but was stopped by something that had fallen on him. This effort brought extreme pain to Matt who realized that he had probably broken multiple ribs and his shoulder.
Matt then heard the same voice calling out again and this time he was sure that it was the voice of Healer T'Val.
"Commander? Lieutenant?"
Matt mustered all he could and responded to the the doctor's calls.
"Healer, I am here," Matt said while coughing up blood, " I don't know about the Lt. though." The fact that Healer T'Val was alive seemed to give Matt extra strength and he once again decided to try and get loose. Matt with much pain and anguish turned his head around to look at what was holding him in place. To his surprise the only thing that was holding him in place was a thin piece of metal, it felt like a moutain to Matt.
Matt then realized that his legs must be broken and they were not going to help him get out of this predicament, so Matt started to crawl forward so his entire body would be free from any weight. Even though freedom from this pain was only a yard away the pain that he was feeling felt like he was being stabbed by ten swords.
Keep going Matt, you can do this he told himself as the pain of his exterment sent chills down his spine and body. Matt's breathing was ragged and heavy, and he was having a hard time breathing, but he kept on trying. One more push Matt, just one more push he told himself.
In one single push forward Matt's body was clear from the metal was trapping him. Matt didn't have time to worry about his pain, two of his crewmates were still trapped in this rumble. Matt still had not seen or heard Lt. Hunter so he headed towards the area that Matt thought T'Val was buried under.
"Healer T'Val can you please make some noise so I can know I'm heading your way," Matt said.
The shuttle was hurtling towards the planet.
On the auxilliary bridge of the Jefferson, Loskene yelled, "Get them out of there Mr Johnson."
Johnson worked his console but it was no use, "Our transporter range has been reduced by all the gravimetric distortions in here, we're not close enough."
"Move us to within range!" said Loskene.
Even as Alexander entered the contols, he knew there wasn't time.
"They're entering the upper atmosphere sir." said Johnson.
"Are we in range yet?" asked Loskene.
"No sir, we're not going to make it." Responded Johnson.
A few seconds later, Johnson saw the readings on his console and relayed the information to Loskene, "They've gone down Captain."
"Where?" Loskene said, sounding annoyed.
Johnson tapped a few controls, "A continent on the northern hemisphere, it's one of the largest continents. I'm detecting the shuttle, sir, it's still intact, though badly damaged, they may have survived."
"Any settlements nearby? asked Loskene.
"Yes sir." Said Johnson, "There's a crashed New Orleans class starship about a kilometer away from the shuttle. There appears to be a settlement in and around the starship. I'm detecting several hundred lifeforms in the settlement of a variety of species including humans, bolians, andorians and vulcans. It seems they've landed in friendly territory, sir."
"Let's hope so." said Loskene, "We need to get down there, move us into standard orbit."
"Aye sir." said Johnson, then he said, "Sir, I've been thinking about the problem of staying in the cloud. If we polarize our hull in the right way, we can increase the ship's resistance to the cloud. We could stay in here for maybe a week. It'd give us time to complete repairs, find the shuttle crew and maybe make contact with these people. Even if we don't want to be here, it would certainly be fascinating."
"Healer T'Val can you please make some noise so I can know I'm heading your way," Matt said.
"I am here commander," T'Val called, a little louder now. Her vision was clearing up and she could see that she was buried under one of the consoles. "Be careful commander, I am pinned down, quite literally."
The Vulcan saw the two Starfleet officers approach, but she didn't know if they could see her. The shuttle was huddled in semi-darkness, and the only light that was falling into the shuttle was the sunlight coming from outside. From what T'Val could tell, it was dawn, as it was starting to get lighter as time passed by.
She saw them look around, the marine supporting the operations officer. From what she could see, the commander was injured badly, and when they came closer, she saw that Reynolds wasn't walking at all, he was crawling. "Lieutenant," she alerted Hunter, "find a medical kit. We will not survive if Commander Reynolds is not seen to first. I will need your assistance. For as long as I am pinned down, I will not lose any blood. You must set his legs and heal the bones, I will guide you through it if you need assistance. Commander, please tell me where you are in pain, and what your symptoms are."
She fell silent, gasping for breath as the weight on her chest was wearing her out. "Hunter, see to Reynolds first. Commander, make it an order if you have to. I cannot move to examine you, you must see that my reasoning is logical."
T'Val saw Reynolds' face hovering into her line of vision, and noted his face was contorted with pain, his face smudged with blood and mud. She knew she probably didn't look any better. "You are a sight for sore eyes commander," she said, smiling ever so slightly in an attempt to cheer him up. Life among humans, and with her Romulan husband had taught her that in dire situations, a joke tended to cheer humans up somewhat. While she was quite a poor joker, and had no real sense of humour, she was relieved to see a smile break through his farçe.
A second face appeared. "Some first mission eh lieutenant?" she said softly, "I assume that this is not quite what you imagined? Now, if you have found a medical kit, please read off what the tricorder is telling you, and I will tell you what to do."
"Commander can I help you" Wiliam said.
"Yes, help me to find Healer T'Val and to get her out of here " Commander Reynolds said said.
"But Commander, you are wounded, you leg's are broken." William said.
"Marine that does not matter, as of now our priority is to find the Healer, she is a doctor and can heal us all, but that will not happen until we find her," Matt said a bit annoyed that this conversation was causing him immensed pain.
To be honest Matt felt like a useless child, he was being taken around by a Marine. Yet he realized there wasn't anything else that he could of done so he just had to except the fact.
"Healer keep speaking please," Matt pleaded.
"I'm here," the Healer responded. That noise led both of them to the front of the ship and to the body of Healer T'Val. Matt quickly motioned for Mr. Hunter to place him on the floor close to the Healer so he could talk to her.
"Lieutenant," she alerted Hunter, "find a medical kit. We will not survive if Commander Reynolds is not seen to first. I will need your assistance. For as long as I am pinned down, I will not lose any blood. You must set his legs and heal the bones, I will guide you through it if you need assistance. Commander, please tell me where you are in pain, and what your symptoms are."
Matt was going to protest, but found that it was useless to do so. A marine would always comply with orders that would result in the best possibility of survival.
"To be honest Healer it hurts everwhere, but the most pain is from my legs," Matt said as he started to sweat a bit more profusly," I can still feel them, but they are going numb."
"Can you walk commander?" T'Val enquired, ignoring Hunter for the moment, "try to move your feet and put weight on your legs. The painkillers administered by Lieutenant Hunter should enable you to stand."
<Reynolds>
When she received a satisfying answer from the chief of operations, she shifted her attention to Hunter. "Are you injured lieutenant?" she querried, still ignoring his question concerning her own health. She was a civillian, compared to Starfleet, in her opinion, she didn't matter.
<Hunter>
When he insisted on getting his own question answered, T'Val sighed. "I do not know how you can help me lieutenant," she answered, "is there some way you can lift this weight off me, without pulling whatever is pinning me to the deck out?"
<Hunter>
"If you can, please do so. When you are done, follow the same instructions as I have given you to ascertain the extend of Reynolds injuries, and scan me using that same protocol. Until I know the extend of my own injuries, I cannot get up."
<Hunter>
The Vulcan sighed tiredly, she was so tired and wanted to sleep. A sharp pain in her cheek made her snap her eyes open. "I am awake," she said coolly, "there was no need to strike me."
<Hunter>
"I know that I must not sleep lieutenenant," she continued, "what is the status of our shuttle? Can we contact the Jefferson?" She shifted her gaze back to Reynolds, their gazes locking and at that instant she knew that the Promiss would not get off the planet again, and they were stranded here. "Where exactly are we?" she continued, if only to keep her mind focused on something other than the need to sleep. "Are there any other people about that may be of assistance? You are still injured, I am injured......Mr Hunter may also be injured....we will not survive on our own."
On the Jefferson bridge, Johnson's panel beeped. He looked down.
"Sir!" He shouted to Loskene, "We're recieving a transmission from the shuttle!"
"Onscreen!" ordered Loskene.
Johnson complied. The next moment, distorted, with much interference, William Hunter and Matt Reynolds appeared on the screen.
"USS Jefferson, This is Marine 1st lt William Hunter, Can you hear me?"
"We can hear you lieutenant." Loskene replied. "Is everybody on the shuttle ok?"
<Hunter/Reynolds>
"Johnson, we need to get them up here. Can we use transporters?" asked Loskene.
"No sir, there's too much interference in the atmosphere." replied Johnson.
Loskene looked annoyed.
"But..." said Johnson, "Most of that New Orleans class down there seems to be intact. If the shuttle crew can get to the settlement and inform the people, we may be able to link up their ship's transporters and ours. Then we could beam up and down as we pleased."
"Did you hear that?" said Loskene, addressing the shuttle crew, "You have to get to the settlement around the crashed New Orleans class ship. It's location is..." he pointed at Johnson.
"1.2 kilometers due west of your position. If you have a tricorder, you should be able to lock onto their transponder signal; sensors say it's still active." said Johnson.
