"We can hear you lieutenant." Loskene replied. "Is everybody on the shuttle ok?"
"USS Jefferson, Commander Reynolds and Healer T'Val are Wounded." William said.

"And how exactly are we going to get there?" T'Val asked softly, as Reynolds stayed with her while Hunter handled the communiqué coming from the Jefferson. "You cannot walk very far, as your muscles are still tender, and your bones recently mended. I cannot walk either, and I am still pinned down to the deck by this pipe." She winced ever so slightly as Reynolds tried to remove the pipe. "Leave me behind," she suggested, "get to that settlement and acquire assistance."
T'Val closed her eyes briefly, though apparently it had been longer than she remembered as suddenly she felt herself being shaken gently. "Leave me behind," she repeated, "I will be all right. I promise I will attempt not to pass out."
<Reynolds>
When the human's face disappeared from her line of vision, she couldn't tell whether he and Hunter had actually left. The shuttle had gone completely silent, there wasn't even the sound of the computer. She wondered what was going on; despite the marine having done her a great service by healing most of her injuries, and all by using a a field med-kit, she still couldn't get up. She hadn't wanted to chance internal bleedings, and there certainly weren't any packed-cells or plasma on board the shuttle. ~And I do not know the further extend of Mr Reynolds' injuries either~ she thought ~this field kit was so basic that he may have internal injuries that I may have missed~

"Can you walk commander?" T'Val inquired, ignoring Hunter for the moment, "try to move your feet and put weight on your legs. The painkillers administered by Lieutenant Hunter should enable you to stand."
Matt didn't really know and to be honest he didn't want to try. There was a lot of pain coursing through his body and it was pulsing every seconds. Yet he still had to try and so he tried to stand up.
Lt. Hunter got closer to Matt and tried to help, but Matt just pushed his help away. He wanted to do this alone. He had to do this alone. So Matt forced his right leg, the one that seemed to be less damaged, off the floor and to the up right position. Matt let out a groan of intense pain as he did this which made both Healer T'Val and Lt. wince as they were also experiencing his pain.
After the pain passed he felt that it would be easier to get the other leg up even though it was more damaged. Lucky for Matt he was right and he was standing in a matter of minutes.
"Thanks for your help," Matt said to both of them.
"Are there any other people about that may be of assistance? You are still injured, I am injured......Mr Hunter may also be injured....we will not survive on our own."
"I'm not sure, when we were falling I did see what seemed to be a ship, but I cannot say for certain," Matt said no longer wincing in pain, but just sweating profusely. Without either Matt or T'Val noticing Lt. Hunter somehow got partial communications working.
"We can hear you lieutenant." Loskene replied. "Is everybody on the shuttle ok?" Matt smiled in what seemed days. They might just have a guardian angel Matt thought.
"USS Jefferson, this is Commander Reynolds and we are all alive, but we have all sustained major injuries. Healer T'Val is unmovable at the moment and I'm pretty sure that I have internal bleeding," Matt reported. Matt was glad that the conversation headed to wards their rescue efforts and his smile quickly disappeared when he heard that the Jefferson wouldn't be able to transport them to relative safety.
"But..." said Johnson, "Most of that New Orleans class down there seems to be intact. If the shuttle crew can get to the settlement and inform the people, we may be able to link up their ship's transporters and ours. Then we could beam up and down as we pleased." So that was a ship I saw when we were falling Matt told himself. Hopefully they will be able to help them, hopefully they could even help the crew get out of this place.
"1.2 kilometers due west of your position. If you have a tricorder, you should be able to lock onto their transponder signal; sensors say it's still active." said Johnson.
"Understood, Promise crew out," Matt said and looked at the small crew of the ship. Their were two bodies in the back of the shuttle, Ensign White and Volares, a brand new officer and a seriously injured doctor. This is easier said than done.
Leave me behind," she repeated, "I will be all right. I promise I will attempt not to pass out."
Matt had to agree with her partially, he was still very weak and his legs could barley sustain his weight, but he would never leave one of his own behind, be it Starfleet, Marine, or Civilian.
"I'm sorry doctor you will not be able to get rid of me that easily," Matt said but it seemed that she didn't hear him so he motioned for Lt. Hunter to follow him.
"Lt. I want you to find us help," Matt said as he handed him the tricorder," just like Lt. Johnson said head west until you find the crew of the Federation ship."
"Aye sir," Hunter said as he turned around.
"Lt. bring back help immediately, we need to tend to the doctor first and then we can transport to the Jefferson," Matt ordered.
<Tag William>
Matt then as quickly as he could walked back to where T'Val was. He saw that she was searching trying to figure out if they had in fact left her alone.
"I'm still here doctor," Matt said a bit more forcefully than before.
<Tag T'Val>
Matt could clearly see that T'Val was very weak and wanted rest and that was something that he couldn't allow.
"T'Val you will not sleep on me," Matt said as he started to shake T'Val. Matt knew that Vulcan's didn't like to be touched, but for right now it was more important to keep her alive.
<Tag T'Val>
"Okay T'Val until Lt Hunter returns we need to keep your mind busy," Matt said," I think its time to play a game." Matt hoped that would get a smile from T'Val, but that didn't seem to work.
<Tag T'Val>
"So T'Val what are you good at?" Matt asked.

The two looked miffed.
"But," said Johnson with a slight sigh, "if we are going down to help them, you'll need our best pilot in the shuttle, and even if I do say so myself, that is me."

"I'm still here doctor," Matt said a bit more forcefully than before.
"I thought you were going to find help," T'Val sighed, doing the best she could to keep the pain off her face, and putting up an appearance of being just fine.
"I made a promise commander," she said softly, willing him to stop shaking her, "I will try not to sleep, but I am extremely tired. Keep talking to me."
"Okay T'Val until Lt Hunter returns we need to keep your mind busy," Matt said," I think its time to play a game." Matt hoped that would get a smile from T'Val, but that didn't seem to work.
"A game?" the Vulcan querried, raising an eyebrow at the human officer, "what kind of game?" She wondered just what kind of game he meant, she wasn't the type of person to play games.
"So T'Val what are you good at?" Matt asked.
She furrowed her eyebrows, thinking the question through. "What am I good at," she repeated, to keep her mind on the question. Blocking her bondmate out was already taking quite a bit of effort, concentrating on the question was just demanding a little more. "I do not know," she finally replied, "I suppose I am good at cooking, though my bondmate generally prepares the meals when we are together."
She fell silent for several minutes, only shaken back to reality by Matt shaking her again. "What?" she asked, "oh, I am sorry. What did you ask me again?" She had a thoughtful look on her face, as she concentrated on the question. "Unless of course you meant to ask for my hobbies," she continued, "I enjoy swimming and sailing. My father taught me how to sail when I was young, he took me to an oceanic planet, where we spent weeks just sailing that planet's vast oceans. You would not believe me when I told you that I actually got a sunburn, and a tan."
T'Val didn't realize she was babbling. "My mother, however took me rock climbing on Vulcan, and naturally on my firs trip I lost my footing and I fell down several meters. Fortunately we had not gone up far yet." Her gaze locked with Matt's. "How about you commander? What are you good at?"
<Reynolds>
"My apollogies for interupting," she suddenly said, "but is there any sign from Lieutenant Hunter yet? Should he not be back yet?"

Matt was very suprised when T'Val told him that she liked to swim and sail. Most of the Vulcan's that he knew didn't like the water, in fact he thought that Vulcan's woudln't go into the water if they didn't have to. Well I keep learning stuff don't I Matt told himself.
"My mother, however took me rock climbing on Vulcan, and naturally on my firs trip I lost my footing and I fell down several meters. Fortunately we had not gone up far yet." Her gaze locked with Matt's. "How about you commander? What are you good at?"
Matt wasn't really expecting a quesiton from the doctor, but he was glad that she had taken the initiative to ask the question.
"Well I'm a martial arts fanatic," Matt said," as a kid that is all that I did. I started when I was four and have been learning new martial arts all the time. I also love langauges especially Vulcan." At that remark Matt thought that T'Val had given a small smile, but he wasn't sure.
"Like you Healer I also enjoy cooking and..." Matt started to say before he was interrupted by the Healer.
"My apollogies for interupting," she suddenly said, "but is there any sign from Lieutenant Hunter yet? Should he not be back yet?" Matt looked at the door that Hunter had gone out of and realized that he had been gone for about half an hour and they hadn't heard anything from him.
"I think he's alright, he's a marine isn't he," Matt said hoping that his words didn't come back and bite him in the butt. "So Healer tell me about your bondmate, I bet he's a special guy?"
<Tag T'Val>
The two talked for what felt like hours, but Matt knew that was not the case. At most they had talked for two hours and the fact that Lt. Hunter had yet to arrive started to really agitate Matt. Worse than that was the fact that Healer T'Val couldn't be kept awake forever. Matt was finding himself waking her up every few minutes and worse Matt was starting to feel sleepy.
Then as if a higher power was on their side, Matt could clearly hear the voices of mulitple people coming there way. Matt quickly went to the shuttle window and was extatic when he saw humans, bolians, and a wobbleling marine Lt walking towards them.
"Healer T'Val they will be here shortly, tell me how I can help you prepare for your transportation out of here?" Matt asked.

OOC: I thought I'd roleplay for the inhabitants of the New Orleans settlement, well there's at least one I'd like to roleplay for, others can RP for other Oceanus (see below) characters if they like. But anyway, there isn't much to do up on the ship, so, hope it's ok.
Then as if a higher power was on their side, Matt could clearly hear the voices of mulitple people coming there way. Matt quickly went to the shuttle window and was extatic when he saw humans, bolians, and a wobbleling marine Lt walking towards them.
Matt watched as three humans and a bolian entered the shuttle. They were all dressed in Starfleet uniforms. Hunter, it appeared was staying outside.
One of the humans addressed Matt. He had black hair and stubble, he appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s. "I am Captain Elarus Voran, we're from the Oceanus settlement."
"Oceanus?" said Matt.
"Yes, that's the name of the ship that the settlement is based around. The settlement was founded by the Oceanus' crew, but it's grown since then and we've gotten more members."
"And, you're the Captain of this...Oceanus?" asked Matt.
"No." Said Voran, "The Captain of the Oceanus is Captain Derek Allen, he's the leader of the settlement."
Seeing the look of confusion on Matt's face, he added, "I wasn't originally part Oceanus' crew, I got here separately, but came to live here."
"Your ship crashed here too?" asked Matt.
"No, I'm retired...at least, I was then." said Voran.
"You barely look old enough to be a Captain, let alone retired." said Matt.
"I'm an El Aurian." replied Voran.
"So, how did you get here then?" asked Matt.
"We could sit here and discuss this all day," said Voran, "But your colleague needs medical attention, and you don't look too good yourself Commander."
He indicated the two humans, "This is Commander Lucas, first officer of Oceanus, and this is Lieutenant Jackson."
He then indicated the Bolian, "This is Doctor Hytt."
The Bolian had already moved to T'Val and was inspecting her injuries.
He spoke, "She's in pretty bad shape, Captain. We need to get this bar off her, it's pinning her to the deck.
"The transport enhancers." said Voran.
The other two humans went about setting up transport enhancers. When they had finished, Commander Lucas nodded to Voran.
Voran called to one of the officers outside and a portable transporter beamed the bar outside. Next, T'Val and Reynolds were being helped onto strechers.
"We need to get you back to the Oceanus' sickbay." said Voran.
They began back to the Oceanus settlement.

"We need to get you back to the Oceanus' sickbay." said Voran.
They began back to the Oceanus settlement.
Then all of a sudden the thought of White and Volares came to Matt's mind.
"Wait Captain Voran, we have two casualties inside the shuttle. As Federation...." Matt started to explain to the group from the Ocenaus settlement.
"Commander there is no need to explain, we of course will follow Starfleet regulations," the Voran responded. Matt was happy to know that his officers would be honored as they should be.
As they group made its way towards the settlement, Matt for the first time came to take the enviornment of the planet in. It was an extremely strange sight to behold. Matt was sure that he could see a large mountain a couple of miles to their east and an ocean to the south. In fact it seemed that every major enviornment was within walking distance.
This is a enviornmentalist dream Matt thought as he started walking up a steep hill. It really hurt as he starting walking up, in fact he almost fell down, but Commander Lucas kept him from falling.
"Thank commander," Matt said as he once again got his footing back.
"No problem and the rest of the way is a piece of cake," Lucas said as he pointed to the ship. "Welcome to the Oceanus settlement, Commander."

Loskene did not want to send more crew down to the surface. For all he knew the crew aboard the Promise were killed on impact or assuming an even more twisted scenario, being killed by the poor, confused, wretched souls who had been stranded down on that chimera planet. He lowered his head in thought for a few moments and looked up.
Loskene: Mr. Johnson...I appreciate you're courage, but I'm afraid we must assume the worst. I don't even know what the worst could be, so I could only dare to speculate. However...I can sense something down there. Something is telling me...or giving me a faint hint that our fellow crew members may still be alive. And I have come to learn that my instincts in matters such as these are rarely wrong. So... it is in great reluctance that I grant your request to find the Promise and it's crew down there, on that planet.
Loskene turned to his First Officer.
Loskene: James, I would like you to lead the search and rescue, with Johnson as the pilot. Mr. Daya, Mr. Pudlo, I'd like you to work together to come up with a way to make sure our shields hold, for as long as possible.
Loskene walked up to the newest member of their crew, AE Sorak.
Loskene: Mr. Sorak, I regret having to welcome you in this way, under these circumstances. The formalities can wait for now, I believe. I want you to assist Daya and Pudlo.
Loskene then proceeded to tap his communicator.
=^=Loskene to Rayna, I would like you to offer your input and suggestions on the prevention of our hull degradation. If, forbid, our shields fail, the hull will be the next victim. Please come to the bridge=^=

T'Val bit back a cry as medics hoisted her onto a stretcher, and black spots were dancing at the edge of her vision. One of their rescuers had cut off the pipe (or whatever it was, she couldn't see it) but hadn't removed it from her body. "To prevent you from bleeding to death," he had whispered at her.
The blue face of the Bolian doctor entered her line of vision, and the doctor was smiling. "You'll be fine ma'am," he told her, "just hang in there, and don't pass out on me. I believe you were telling your friend something, before we entered. Why don't you continue telling me what you were telling him?"
T'Val tried to shake her head, talking was starting to become too painful as well. "Lieutenant Hunter?" she whispered, and the young marine's face appeared. "Thank you," she managed, indicating the presence of the rescue team. She closed her eyes and tried to concentrate on not passing out as the sway of the stretcher told her that they had started moving.
When she opened her eyes next, she found herself lying on a soft bed in a neat and clean, but small stone building. She tried to sit up, grunted softly and lowered herself down again. Apparently medicine wasn't as advanced as they let on; the 'pipe' still wasn't removed, and her entir abdomen was aching. ~at least I am alive~ she thought, as she scanned the room. ~this must be their hospital, it looks very sterile~
She slowly turned her head to face the door as she heard voices. The Bolian doctor walked in, his jovial smile still plastered on his face. ~does he ever stop smiling?~ T'Val wondered. "Doctor, my companions, how are they? Commander Reynolds suffered severe injuries, is he all right?"
<bolian doctor>
"Has the Jefferson been informed that we have been transferred to this settlement? They may be looking for us."
<bolian doctor>
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rayna darted from one bed to the other, as injured crewmembers started piling themselves up after the Jefferson had been pummeled when it had been pulled towards and into the nebula. Some of the regular nursing staff had been injured as well, and others were doing the best they could to keep up with treating injured crew.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" she yelled at a Klingon engineer, "keep your socks on man, I only have my two hands and I'm only one woman you know!"
She stopped dead in her tracks when she heard her name being called over the intercom, and she recognized Loskene's voice.
=^=Loskene to Rayna, I would like you to offer your input and suggestions on the prevention of our hull degradation. If, forbid, our shields fail, the hull will be the next victim. Please come to the bridge=^=
"Hull degradation sir?" she querried, "I can offer my input but I'm not sure it'll help admiral. I'm not an engineer, I'm a scientist or nurse in training if anything." Upon hearing his exhasperated sigh, she shrugged. "Very well, I'm on my way."
Several minutes later, she arrived on the bridge. "What do you need me to do?"
Jeff and Dya, menwhilw, had taken a turbolift to Jeff's office in main enginering. When they got there, Jeff blacked out the windows and replaced the veiw with an exterior diagram and a power flow graph.
"That's what we've got." Jeff started. "Oursheild output is weakening, as you can see. Just about any parts for new equipment, we have. What we don't have is energy."
"Well, in tactical training classes, tehy tell you about the nature of the sheilds. They're built to beat off everythingat once. If we can isolate what we're getting hit with..."
"We can focus them? Somehow I don't think that'll do us much good. We're getting hit from a pretty large sectrum, and foucusing them takes power."
"A temporary measure to narrow them slightly then?"
"Let's see what the power does..." Jeff ran a simulation on the monitor showing what would happen energy wise every hour. "well, we'll break even with savings 7 hours into it. We could do it as a temporary measure, but it wouldn't be our best bet for energy. I think that would have to be a long term solution."
"Why don't we start it? We could use a long term."
"because it will bge weaker in the short term. If we don't make it through that, then we won't make it to the long term where it would be benifical."
"I see that, I suppose."
"Daya, do you think that there's any way to turn the phasers into sheild emitters?"
A few minutes later, Johnson was in the shuttle with Commander Matthew. They had just cleared the Jefferson's shuttlebay and were heading towards the planet.
"Don't worry Commander, we shouldn't have to worry about crashing, we won't get caught in the gravitational distortions that the Promise got caught in." Said Johnson, more to convince himself than Matthew.
The shuttle began to shake as they entered the atmosphere.
"Hold on commander," said Johnson, "it gets a bit bumpy from here on."
A few seconds later, Johnson was distracted when his console beeped; they were receiving a signal from the planet, Johnson activated it.
"Incoming vessel, this is the U.S.S. Oceanus, please identify yourself."
Johnson responded, "This is the Federation shuttlecraft Inyo...uh...requesting permission to land...I guess."
Johnson was a bit taken aback, he hadn't expected such formal procedure, but he complied nonetheless.
"Inyo, our shuttlebays are no longer operational, we are sending you coordinates where you can land. Recommend you are quite swift as some of the factions aren't always happy to see newcomers, especially federation newcomers."
"Acknowledged, Oceanus." said Johnson.
He did his best to get the shuttle down quickly. As they came closer to the coordinates, Johnson saw the starship Oceanus laid out before them, mostly intact, a testament to starfleet engineering. Even crashed, Johnson thought that starfleet ships had a certain beauty to them. There was a small settlement around the ship.
Johnson got the shuttle to the ground and he and the Commander exited the shuttle. A man in a starfleet uniform greeted them.
"You must be from the Jefferson." he said.
Commander Matthew nodded and said, "I am Commander James Matthew and this is Lieutenant Johnson. Do you have our people?"
"Yes," replied the officer, "they're in our sickbay. This way please."
The officer lead them through an airlock into the Oceanus. As they entered, Johnson noticed that a small crowd had formed and was watching the two newcomers curiously. They probably didn't get many visitors.
As they were lead through the corridors, Johnson was surprised with how good the ship looked. It was by no means immaculate, but given that the ship had crashed, it was in pretty good condition.
"The ship's in pretty good condition," Johnson remarked.
The officer smiled, "Yes. It was worse when we first crashed, but we worked hard and we've made it hospitable. We still use many areas of the ship, such as the sickbay, the bridge, crew quarters, science labs."
They turned a corner and through a door into the sickbay. Commander Reynolds and Lieutenant Hunter were sitting up on biobeds. Healer T'Val looked in worse condition. She was lying on a biobed being attended to by a bolian doctor, but she was conscious.
The El Aurian called Voran came over to the two.
"Hello, I'm Elarus Voran." he said.
"Commander James Matthew," said Matthew, then he indicated Johnson, "Lieutenant Alex Johnson. How are our people?"
"They'll all live." said Voran, "Healer T'Val is in considerably worse condition than the other two, but Doctor Hytt here believes that she'll make a full recovery."
Matthew seemed to relax slightly.
"No doubt," said Voran, "you'll want to know everything we know about this place. The Captain will see you in the observation lounge when you're ready."
Daya was a bit shaken to the fact that he wasnt aloud to do his job, in the since of being security, he should have gone down incase of hostility.
Nonetheless he went with Jeff and headed to his engineering department. "Daya, do you think that there's any way to turn the phasers into sheild emitters?"
"Honestly, i dont think the phasers could stand the pressure, but if we tweaked them a bit, we could get them to sustain enough energy to help the shields, but how we are going to do that, i dont know.
Daya stood for a moment and thought, looking at the extra parts he put things together in his head, "wait a minute, is thee any way we could build a emitter of some kind, to feed energy from a phaser blast to the shields?"
Matt was sitting at his bio bed not wanting to partake in the conversation that Commander Matthews and Voran. He was tired, but most of all he was worried about his crew of three. Luckily William wasn't to hurt and Matt's internal injuries had already been repaired, but T'Val was still in critical condition, T'Val noticed Reynolds sitting on a bed next to her. "Commander Reynolds?" she asked, not wanting to raise her voice, but still attract his attention.Matt was surprised to hear T'Val's voice, he was pretty sure that she was going to be out of it. She had been so sleepy on the shuttle "Yes T'Val what can I do for you?" Matt asked. "Are you well?" she continued, "you sustained serious injuries during the crash, also possible internal injuries." "Well I still hurt, but the doctor worked miracles," Matt said," but he's nowhere near your skills T'Val." "What about yourself are you feeling better now that you are getting some medical attention?" Matt asked hoping that T'Val would let someone else worry about her safety. "Well Vulcans do tend to be precise in their care," T'Val replied neutrally, "but I do feel somewhat better now. I just wish they would tend to the fractures, and whatever kept me pinned to the deck. They fear I will bleed to death, for they will not remove the object."Matt could see the piece of metal that was still lodged in her body. There was minimal bleeding, but Matt thought that was a good sign. "I could ask them to deal with the fractures while they decided in what to do with the piece of metal stuck in you," Matt said. "That would be acceptable, thank you commander," T'Val replied, then cocked her head ever so slightly as she picked up familiar voices. "It seems our rescue team has finally arrived," she said coolly, "perhaps Lieutenant Hunter could go and lead them here? You nor I are in a condition to do so.""Yes of course you are right," Matt said as pain coursed through his legs. It seemed that the Oceanius wasn't as advanced as they hoped," Lt. Hunter can you please notify the doctors and Commander Matthews that we would like to talk to them." <Tag Hunter> T'Val nodded ever so slightly, and bit back a moan as her cheek was throbbing. The broken bone in her right cheek was really starting to bother her, and there was no way she could concentrate on healing in this noisy environment. "I am glad that you agree with me," she said, then sighed. "It is not easy being a patient," she complained, "I would much prefer to be able to continue my work." She stifled a yawn. "Odd, I am certain that I have been unconscious for several hours, yet I still feel extremely tired.""Is that a bad thing?" Matt asked referring to her yawning," because if it is I'll scream so the doctor will get here immediately." "Yes, it is," she replied, "I am never tired. I am a Vulcan, and Vulcans can do without sleep for days. Before we took the shuttle, I have had several hours of rest, and I do not have my son to care for at present so I get my rest quite easily. How about you? Are you not anxious to get back to work?"Matt kept thinking that T'Val wanted attention to be drawn away from her and he was about to do good on his promise and scream for the doctor, but he could hear him coming there way. "Well of course, since taking the over the science department I have to say I have been looking forward to work," Matt said, "but thats not to say that I don't enjoy Operations, because I still do." "So you are torn between two professions then," T'Val concluded, and rubbed her jaw gingerly. Talking through clenched teeth wasn't easy, but he commander seemed to have no trouble understanding her so far. She gazed past the human and saw the Bolian doctor come back, with the Jefferson's first officer in tow. "We have company," she added, then gazed back at Reynolds. "Perhaps you could combine both professions," she suggested softly, "there is always one research project or the other to attend to that the science department does not have time for." She fell silent as Hytt and Matthew approached, and waited for them to start talking.T'Val advice helped him a lot, Matt had been feeling guilty for giving more attention to science recently, but why couldn't he do both. "I guess your right T'Val, I think I will do both," Matt said before Commander Matthews and Doctor Hytt arrived. <Tag Hytt/Matthews/Hunter> OCC: This was a JP between myself and the gracious and funny Healer T'Val. OCC: I have neglected to use my NPC's this mission which I was planning not to do. So shame on me, but I'm going to fix that, I hope.
Frustration was brimming from her brow and face, Kristin had been working for hours on trying to get the transporter to work in the interference. In fact she had been told that it would be impossible to get them working, there was just to much interference, but she would not hear it.
So here she was in the bowels of the Jefferson trying to magnify the power of the transporters. The radiation coming from the cloud was not as powerful as thelaron or even gamma radiation, but the immense amount of it made it almost impossible for the transporter buffers to compensate. Kristin took her hypospanner and flicked it over the wire that was connecting section 43.2 to section 21.5 and rerouted it to the transporters. When this happened the system sparked and and sent sparks everywhere.
"Damn," Kristin cursed as she put her finger into her mouth to try to stop the burn. It of course didn't work, but human habits died hard.
"Computer the did the power transfer work?" Kristin asked.
"Affirmative."
"Okay good, now lets try this again," Kristin said as she slid down the stairs and headed down to nearest turbolift. As Kristin entered the turbolift she asked the crewman on duty if anything important had happened while she had been away.
"Yes ma'am, Admiral Loskene sent Commanders, Matthew and Johnson down in a shuttle," the crewman responded.
"Did it all go okay?" Kristin asked.
"Yes it did, but we have lost communications with the shuttle." Well this will be a back up plan Kristin thought as she went to the transporter controls. She set the transporters on the planet and tried to lock onto what she thought was a plant. At first the transporter didn't lock, but once she used full power the transport locked and was ready for use.
"Well this is our plan B," Kristin said as she started making a report for Admiral Loskene if the away teamed failed and couldn't resuce the crew of the Promise.
After seeing to the shuttle crew, Johnson and Matthew found themselves being led by Voran to the Oceanus briefing room to meet with her Captain.
"Luckily, we've managed to get the turbolifts working, it's a real time saver." said Voran as they flew upwards.
In moments, the lift door opened and they strode out onto the bridge of the Oceanus. It was manned by several officers and looked almost like an operational starship's bridge, aside from the odd bit of damage here and there. There was a regional map on display on the viewscreen that Alexander only had time to glance at.
They entered the observation lounge where a man with grey hair and a Captain's uniform was sitting at the head of the table.
"Gentlemen," said Voran, "this is Captain Derek Allen of the USS Oceanus. Captain, this is Commander James Matthew and Lieutenant Commander Alexander Johnson."
The Captain shook hands with the two men before they took seats at the table. Voran did the same.
"So," said Captain Allen, "I presume you'll want to hear the story of the Oceanus."
It didn't seem that he was waiting for any kind of response from either Matthew or Johnson as he launched straight into his story.
"We've been here for nearly 23 years. It was late 2368, we were on patrol along the Romulan boarder. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a routine mission around the boarder outposts.
We were en route to Outpost 239 when we encountered a cloud. It was unlike anything we'd ever seen before, our sensors could not penetrate it. Our probes were destroyed and before we knew it, we were being pulled into the cloud. As we entered the cloud, we were hit by some sort of energy blast. Systems were disrupted all over the ship. With major damage to the propulsion system, we were drawn into the planet's gravity field. We had enough power left to execute emergency landing procedures.
So, we crashed here. When the damage reports came in, we had to get used to the fact that we'd be here for a long time. There was no way that we were getting this ship off the ground. Luckily, it was still habitable. We had a home at least.
When we first got here, our sensors were too damaged to be of much use. I ordered repairs at once, but that was going to take time, so I sent out scouting parties to gather information on the region.
We soon found a wealth of life in this place, such a variety. There are all sorts of species, Humans, Vulcans, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Ferengi, any species you can think of, they're here. But, it's not just different species they're from, they're from different times too. On our first day here, my helmsman was killed by a tribe of ancient humans. We've encountered people from many different time frames, just three months ago, a crew of Vulcans from 2155 wandered into our settlement.
We have a reasonably good life here, but this place, although it may be an anthropologist's dream, is no eden. Many of the factions here are hostile. It isn't too bad in this area, mostly the inhabitants get along, but in other places, there are major conflicts, you might even go as far as to call them wars.
Of course, with the size of this planet, we don't have all the information, but we do have information on our area.
To the North there is a large battle between the Romulans, the Klingons and a species called the Kazon.
To the South is a settlement established around a crashed Nebula class ship called the USS Hertzsprung. It is similar to this one, but slightly larger and a bit more advanced.
There are various other Federation settlements around the region and we tend to stick together. We try to uphold the Federation ideals, we try to keep the peace, which, I can assure you, is a very hard job.
The Federation leader for this region is Captain Russel DeLorian, the Captain of the Hertzsprung. We convene a Federation council every month, attended by the leaders of some 53 Federation affiliated settlements in the region.
I am afraid, Commander, you and the Jefferson may be joining us; no one has ever escaped from the cloud."
"We're working on it." said Johnson.
Allen made no noise, but Johnson could tell that he didn't believe they would succeed.
"What about you? You said you weren't part of the Oceanus' crew. Where's your ship?" Matthew asked Voran.
"I don't have a ship." said Voran. "The last ship I commanded was the USS Galaxy. I left Starfleet in 2371, I'm an El Aurian, you see, and I'd spent the better part of 220 years in Starfleet, on and off. It wasn't the first time I'd left Starfleet, but I'd been on active duty since 2321 and I'd had enough.
"Then how did you get here?" asked Johnson.
"I had some...dealings with the entity known as Q. We had a...disagreement and he sent me here." There was a note of bitterness in Voran's voice now, "No doubt he found it extremely entertaining to send me here leaving a wife, a daughter and a grandson without me. I've been in here for 19 years, since 2372."
"Then the cloud would seem to exist in our time period." said Johnson.
Cmdr Matthew walk over to cmdr Reynolds & Doctor T’val beds hi Cmdr Reynolds And Doctor T’Val it’s nice to see you both are still alive after your brush with Death I hope both of you are able to get around a little “
“we have a lot to do and a little time to get it done we are on a tight schedule Mister Daya And Ensign Pudlo are Back on the Jefferson working on some transporter modifications they hope will get us all off this planet “the catch to the plan is we have to do the same down here on the Oceanus transporters “and keeping in mind the Oceanus is 23 years old technology to work with we will need the help of captain Allen and his crew to pull off this task “
“mister pudlo believe with both ships transporter signal being boost they can over come the Electrical storms that surround this planet there by Letting the Jefferson to be Able to get a sensor lock and transport all of us back to the Jefferson “
“ but it needs to be done as fast as we can I don’t know how long the Jefferson will be Able to hold its station before it will be force to withdraw from the Area the ship & crew safety” Now what did you both need to talk to me About
