Scene <Counseling offices Deck 7 >
"All hands, this is the bridge. All hands to stations! This ship is not a drill
“Lobel hadn't gone very far when the Admiral announced his orders. he had hurried the rest of the way to the counseling offices, past other officers who were hurrying to their own stations. he had found one young, counselor trying desperately to keep control of the situation and not doing very well at it. There were a few ensigns looking a bit nervous, and Lobel easily decided who was able to return to duty and who was not. ::
“Lobel pointed at two male ensigns and said, "You and you, return to your duties immediately and come back after we stand down from alert. The rest of you stay where you are." he turned to the counselor and ordered, "Ensign, move the rest of these officers in the Senior Counselor's office, and I'll take care of them from there. Don't lag about now - get moving!"
:: The ensign counselor jumped quickly to her order and ushered the other officers into the next room. Lobel took the chance to take in his surroundings, and as he glanced out the window, he noticed that the stars were flashing by in almost continuous white streaks. ::
“ Lobel hurried into the other office, saying, "Brace yourselves, ensigns, something could happen at any moment." he shivered as he remembered the last battle he had been involved in, but he quickly pushed the thoughts out of his mind.
“The ship shivered a little , But nothing fell out of place in the counselor's office. The younger counselor glanced up at Lobel. "Do you think that's all, Sir?"
"I think we shall wait and see," Lobel answered, but he was relieved. The shake had been weak, as though it were the only defense a dying animal could hold up. There wouldn't be much more fighting - at least, not in space. "Now, Ensign-"
"Gi, Hyun-Shik, sir."
"Thank you, Ensign Gi. Now, I want you go back to the main counseling office and see if anymore officers arrive. If any do, send them in here, and I'll have a nice group therapy session going on."
Ensign Gi nodded and turned around, walking back into the main office. Lobel sighed and faced the officers sitting on his couch. "Now then, I think the worst of it is over. Does anyone want to share something with me?"

OOC: Actually, Mr. Sorak, I am not completely human... ON: Loskene could sense relief coming from within the Jefferson. He could also sense that many wanted to leave as soon as possible before something else went wrong.Loskene: I appreciate your input, Mr Sorak. However, from my encounters with Q, I knew he would not interfere with this mission, he was adamant about giving us any information at all. Exemplary work, Mr. Pudlo. I think it would be a good time to start beaming aboard those that wish to come with us, and then beam down supplies, as needed. Loskene contacted the surface, hoping that everyone was prepared to leave.Loskene: Loskene to shuttle crew, please come in....What is your status? Are you prepared to come aboard? <Tag shuttle crew> Loskene: I sense something very odd...Coming from the cloud. For an instant, Loskene saw a glimpse of the near future.Loskene: We have to leave, immediately, I am sensing an imbalance in the space/time continuum. If we don't escape this place soon, The cloud will dissipate and transplant itself to another part of the galaxy. And the last thing we need is to end up 100 years away from SB Assailant. =^=Loskene to shuttle crew, I'm afraid that time isn't on our hands anymore, you'll need to hasten evacuation. We will see if we will have enough time to transport supplies.=^=

"Sir! If it dissapates, it will do it in parts, so we can plant a device that would kill this thing in there."
"I'll keep it in mind- once those people are up. Status?"
"transporter operations have commenced. I've set it up so that the team will appear in the Transporter room, so we can find them."
"Rocket status?"
"Those are ready the instant you givethe word. the routine is pre-programed."
"About your device." Sorak broke in. "where would it have to be planted?"
A flash. "I could do it, if you might repay the services." a voice cut in.
"Q, what would you want from us?" Loskene asked.
"Not much, coptin." He announced, deliberatly mispronoucing captain, making it sound like cop- tin. "Just that you don't send a probe or anything like that to the g-563 galaxy in the next 72 years."
"Why?"
"That's not something I can tell you, If I dont' wnat you getting information from there. Do you think I'm stupid?. I can help you destroy this thing, if you cooperate."
"I won't do anything, and will pass the word on to command, after we get a short explination."
"Consider it our version of the prime directive."
"Q, I made this for testing purposes." Jeff anounced, picking up something from his console. He pointed it at Q.
"A threat?" he waved his hand, clearly intending to do something to Jeff.
"you're going to help us. this repicates this feild, which drains you- you're helpless." Jeff released the button. "your days as a tormenter are over."
Q went to the counslor's chair and spread himself over it. "alright, I'll help you. but this is just because I like you."
a voice cut in over the comm. "Bridge, we have everyone we can get."
"Agnoliged Transporter room." Commander Matthew responded.

T'Val sighed. "Check on your patients," she muttered under her breath, "what patients? I am a patient myself!" Yet she did as was ordered even though technically, since she was not a member of Starfleet, she couldn't be ordered. "Doctor Hytt," she called, beckoning the Bolian over, "if you need my assistance in preparing any of your patients for transport just let me know. On second thought, I am going to assist you anyway. Shall I start in the children's ward?"
<Hytt>
Without awaiting the Bolian's answer, T'Val found her way over to the children's ward, though not at her usual pace. Despite being pronounced fit to walk, the actual motion of walking was quite painful, even to her. ~I need to meditate~ she thought again ~once we are back aboard I am going to need assistance in doing so, I cannot concentrate~
With one of the nurses in tow, though T'Val wasn't sure whether Hytt had sent her to look after her, or assist her in preparing the childen, she entered the ward. Fortunately, there weren't many children in the ward, but there was one that looked as though he was in a life-threatening situation. Knowing that communication with the Jefferson was back up - to some extend - she tapped her combadge. "T'Val to Jefferson, prepare to receive a severely ill child of approximately twelve years old and his parents."
<anyone aboard Jefferson>
She gazed at the worried parents and noted that one of the parents was Klingon, while the other was Romulan. "I am Healer T'Val," she introduced herself, "chief medic aboard the Starfleet vessel USS Jefferson. We have come to take anyone with us who wishes to go. Under the circumstances I would advise you to come with us. The Jefferson possesses very advanced medical equipment that can cure your son. If you remain here, he will die within a week."
The parents looked up at the Vulcan newcomer and the Klingon father growled at her. "My son is a warrior," he snapped.
"And he will grow up to be one if you come with us," T'Val answered calmly, while motioning the nurse to prepare the boy for transport. "You will have he ability to teach him anything according to any tradition you like when you return with us." She paused, then regarded the silent Romulan mother. "Be it Romulan or Klingon," she added. "I have a Romulan friend aboard the Jefferson who may be able to assist you. I also have Klingon friends aboard Starbase Assailant."
Both parents nodded, though reluctantly. "We will come," the mother said, suddenly looking a whole lot happier.
"A wise decision," T'Val said while checking on the boy. "He will be in good hands, I will see to his treatment personally. Meanwhile, you are welcome to stay with Rayna and myself. I have family quarters so I have the room, even though my son is currently residing with his father." Again she looked at the mother. "My bondmate is a Romulan diplomat," she explained, "I am certain he is able to assist you as well."
She tapped her combadge. "Jefferson, the patient and his parents are ready for transport. Please show the parents to my quarters, where they can rest and refresh themselves if they wish."

Matt walked with Caleb for about thirty minutes and he still was not able to ask him. It wasn't normal for Matt to be nervous, but here he was.
"You want me to go with you don't you?" Caleb asked. Matt was surprised that Caleb said that, but then smiled as he reconginzed that Caleb was extremely smart.
"Yeah, if you want to come, you can," Matt said," I have already asked Captain Allen and he said it was okay." Caleb seemed to be taking this and he quickly answered Matt's question.
"I want to go with you," Caleb said. Matt smiled at the eight year old child. Never did Matt think that he would be adopting a child on this mission.
"Are you sure?" Matt asked once again, hoping that Caleb wouldn't change his mind.
"Yes I'm sure," Caleb said as he hugged Matt's leg. Matt laughed at the display of emotion.
"Didn't you say you were a young adult?" Matt said as he got on his knees to be eye and eye with Caleb.
"So, I can still be happy can't I?" Caleb pouting.
"Yes, of course," Matt said as he hugged his new adoptive son" well then Caleb, welcome to the family."
"So when can I meet the rest of them," Caleb said returning to his witty self.
"I'm not sure, but I know that my mom will love you," Matt said," Caleb go pack your things and meet me at the staging area."
Caleb gladly did as he was told and ran towards his room, Matt then headed back to the Oceanus main bridge and tried to fix long range communications. It was the only thing he could do right now to help the people that were going to stay here. The work didn't take long, but it kept him busy until everything seemed to be in place.
"Commander Reynolds, we are ready to begin," Commander Matthews reported.
"Okay on my way, Commander," Matt said as he cleaned himself up and headed towards the staging area.
Once he reached the staging area, he was pleased to see many families there. Matt secretly hoped that as many families would come with them because to be honest this planet was no place to raise children.
"Commander Matthews we are ready," Matt said as he reached his superior officer.
"Okay, good, we need to start as soon as possible, the cloud is showing signs of going back into subspace," Matthews said.
"Okay, then I'll work fast," Matt said as he sent the information to the Jefferson.
"Okay everyone get ready to get transportered," Matt said loudly. The next moments people were being transportered. It was four groups of twenty at a time, since the Jefferson only had four transporters primary transporters. The last transporter was being used by T'Val and her patients. They had been transporting them ten minutes prior to the main group.
"How is everything going?" Commander Matthews asked.
"Everything is going as planned, we have already half of the population on the Jefferson," Matt reported.
"Okay good, but tell the Jefferson to speed this up, we don't want to be stuck here," Matthews said.
"Yes sir," Matt said as he relayed the message. The transporting did seem to speed up and Matt knew that he wouldb thanking the Tranporting team personally for their work today.
"Hey Matt, when can I go?" Caleb asked.
"You can come with me," Matt responded as the last batch of refugees were transportered to the Jefferson.
"Commander Matthews we are ready to be trasnportered to the Jefferson," Matt said.
"Have the shuttles been trasnportered?" Matthews ask.
"Yes sir, and the supplies have already been sent down," Matt said.
"Okay good, we are ready to go," Matthews said as he headed towards the transport area. He was joined by Commander Johnson, Lt. Hunter, T'Val, Matt, Caleb, and some of the officers that decided to leave.
"Jefferson beam us up." The next moment they were transportered to the Jefferson and were greeted by medical and security teams to lead them to there new quarters.
"Crewman take this young boy to my quarters," Matt said.
"Aye sir," the crewman responded.
"I told you I'm not a young boy, I'm a..." Caleb started but was stopped when Matt said.
"There's ice cream in my quarters." The next moment he was pratically dragging the crewman towards the nearest turbolift. Matt could only laugh, but when he did it seemed to cause his leg a lot of discomfort.
"Senior Staff report to the temp. bridge its time to get out of this cloud," Loskene said over the comm.

Voran had transported up last along with Johnson and the others.
As the last of the evacuees were taken away, including a small boy which Commander Reynolds seemed to have adopted, Voran remained and said, "Would you mind if I came to the Bridge, it's been a while since I was in space and I may be of some help; I used to be a science officer back in the day."
Johnson nodded and they headed out of the transporter room with the rest of the bridge crew.
Johnson spoke to Voran, "You know how the Admiral said that he could sense the time distortions?"
"Yeah." said Voran
"Can you sense them?" asked Johnson.
"Yes." said Voran, "I doubt I can sense them as well as your Captain but, yes. Can you sense them?"
"Yes..." said Johnson, "well, sort of. I...I...guess I just have a funny feeling. Is that what you're feeling?"
"Yup." said Voran, "But I've gotten used to it, I've felt it every time the cloud has shifted."
"Aren't you sad about leaving your home behind?" asked Johnson.
"I suppose." said Voran, "But when you've lived among humans for as long as I have, you get used to leaving things...and people behind. Always look forward, Alexander. I'm going back to my family."
They emerged onto the bridge.
Loskene saw Voran, "Who's this?"
"This is my grandfather." said Johnson.
"Grandfather?" repeated Loskene.
"Long story." said Johnson.
"Captain Elarus Voran, reporting for duty sir." said Voran.

"Let's get out. Mr. Pudlo, Is the ship ready?"
"As She'll ever be. Mr. Renolds and Mr. Johnson shold keep in mind taht we'll have to swtch to impulse once out of the cloud."
"Engage."
The exaust vents on the ship glowed bright, and glowed a brighter red then normal with the gasses formed by roket power pushing through them. The Jefferson did 1 orbit of the planet, then blasted free. It then aimed itself for the hole in the cloud.

USS JEFFERSON: "Meeting the XO"
Scene: Conference room, USS JEFFERSON Cmdr Matthew wanted to meet each of the new officers that would be working for him. He tapped his Comm.-Badge.
Cmdr Matthew to the Counselor Lobel. Could you please meet me in the conference room on Deck 7 ? Thank You
Tosin was a bit startled at being paged. he hit his comm. badge so "Yes sir. I'll be there directly" he said as he looked around the office once more not liking the setup.
Tosin left her office and headed out to meet the Executive Officer. he hadn't really had much dealing with him on the last ship. he wondered how he would be with all that had gone on. It would be good to start meeting with the staff and getting profiles done on them. Tosin arrived at the conference room and walked inside. "Sir....reporting as ordered" he said in a very pleasant tone.
Tosin sat down as the XO indicated. he was trying to get a feel for him and how he was doing with the past events. It was hard to determine where he was yet....but she wasn't about to give up. "So what can I do for you sir?" he asked of him
Cmdr Matthew > I just been looking over your service record not bad sofar it has always been my Policy to have a sit down talk with all new officers that come on board the Jefferson as you know we have some more people on board then normal I would like for you and your staff to officer your people coping skills to the crew as well as the guest I’m sure this will be a tuff time for them all .

"Cheif Engineer's log, I don't know what stardate. My watch reads 0915 hours, but of what day, I have no idea.
We are en Route to Starbase Assalant for repairs and refuling- and perhaps a short leave for some of us. Not for me though. I have a lot of work to do, both in documenting our emergency responses in these situations and making design recomendations stemming from them. Iwill also personally oversee the instilation of a new bridge, that I hope will serve us for many missions to come. I'm informed that it's state of the art, so the layout will be changed slightly, but not to noticably. Looking at the specs, I'm suprised they didn't think of some of this earlyer.
As for the cloud, None of us know what's happened to it. We are trustng that Q was as good as his word and got rid of it for us. If not, we have a bunch of those feild generators in storage, should we ever need them.
End log."
Jeff leaned back in his office chair, and looked out at the swirling patternes of the warp core.

Monica's Point of View
Commander Reynolds returned with the away team three hours ago, but he has not returned to his station. It doesn't really matter, but I do hope that he is alright Monica thought. During this mission she had been acting Chief Operations Officer, but now she was back to being his assistant. It was nice, but I need more practice Monica told herself.
"Admiral Loskene, systems are showing an all clear," Monica reported since her scan had just been completed. Monica hoped that on their way back to Assailant nothing happened because even a Constitution class ship could destroy the Jefferson right now. Even though all stations reported clear, the mass destruction done to the ship was immense and at best it meant that the Jefferson would be in space docks for two months.
Well at least were in Federation space Monica thought as she continued on her work.
Lt. Monica Quindara Asst. Chief of Operations USS Jefferson NCC-750076
Kristin's Point of View
Lt. Kristin Hope's Personal Log Stardate 2391. 1125
Well we have done it, we have transported over 2000 civilians and officers from the Oceanus settlement. It was a hard days work, but I'm very proud of my team and they all deserve praise for the work they did today. I have decided to take the first shift off, I usually wouldn't' of, but I was having a hard time keeping my eyes opened and I will be no good to the people stuck in animation if I collapse from exhaustion. Oh yeah one more thing I have to make sure the repair team fix section 43.2 to section 21.5, I would do it, but hey why ruin there fun.
Computer End Log
Kristin laid on her bed and tried to read, but in a matter of seconds she was out like a light.
Lieutenant Kristen Hope Transporter Chief USS Jefferson NCC-750076
Matt's Point of View
Computer send Letter to Captain Kristie Reynolds-USS Hood-CO
Dear Mom, I have a surprise for you, well its a huge surprise, but I know that you will love it. Well first let me tell you how this happened. On our previous mission the Jefferson was sent to investigate a mysterious cloud and relate all we learned to the Federation. The cloud was not what we expected and the Jefferson was heavily damaged and we were pulled into the cloud. Wait why I'm I saying this you have the clearance to read the mission report. Okay to the surprise, while down on the planet I met this young eight year old boy who had lost his entire family, so I decided to adopt him. His name is Caleb and I'm sending you a picture of him with this letter. I hope that you find him adorable because I do. Mom talk to you later and tell dad that I love him.
Love Matt
Computer End Letter
Matt got up from the chair that he had been reciting his letter from and walked towards Caleb who was still eating ice cream. Matt was going to stop him, but he just didn't have the heart to do it. Matt just decided to make some hypospray for when he gets sick.
"You know you should stop eating that, you will get sick," Matt said as he sat down next Caleb.
"This......will.....never make me sick," Caleb said as he started on the vanilla ice cream next to him. Matt just laughed and decided to increase the volume of the hypospray. In about ten minutes Caleb grabbed his stomach and started to sweat.
"See I told you," Matt said as he placed the hypospray on his neck. The sound of the hypospray seemed to relax Caleb and he finally gave in.
"Fine I guess you were right about the ice cream," Caleb said as he got off the bed and headed towards the pictures that Matt had in his room.
"Who is that?" Caleb said pointing at his mother.
"She's my mom, she is the Captain of the USS Hood," Matt said casually.
"Your mom is a captain, cool," Caleb said as he kept walking around looking at things.
"Yep and my dad is a doctor," Matt said as he stopped Caleb from grabbing the baleth.
"You shouldn't touch this, its dangerous," Matt said.
"But its cool,"Caleb said. Matt then realized that he would have to rearrange his quarters. There were martial art weapons from fifteen different cultures in his room and all of them were dangerous in the hands of an eight year old.
"You know if you want I can teach you how to defend yourself," Matt offered.
"You mean like karate," Caleb said excitedly.
"Yeah like karate," Matt said laughing.
"Okay when can we start?" Caleb asked.
"Tomorrow, how about we start tomorrow because right now you need to go to sleep," Matt said as he pointed Caleb to the next room. Matt had already acquired the room next to him for his office, but he had already changed it to be his new room.
"That's your room," Matt said as he walked Caleb in.
"Wow, this is all mine," Caleb said as he ran to his bed and started to jump on it.
"Yes all yours, and all of your stuff has already been put in place," Matt said," and I have also replicated some new clothes for you too."
"This is all mine," Caleb said still amazed. To be honest to Matt this wasn't much, it was the bare minimum, but he didn't live the life that Caleb did so he didn't appreciate everything he had.
When Matt said it was bed it time he didn't expect for it to take two hours to get Caleb to sleep. He read him two entire stories before he fell asleep. Matt hadn't read bed time stories since he was Caleb's age, but for some reason it soothed him to be doing this for someone else.
"What did I get myself into?" Matt said as he sat down to do some meditation before going to sleep.

"Chief Medical Officer's log, stardate 911125.76, Healer T'Val recording," T'Val started as she sat at her desk in the CMO's office, "we have recently returned safely to the Jefferson and we seem to have cleared the nebula without much difficulty. Most of our guests have been checked over by my staff and only the boy with the Romulan and Klingon parents is still in my care. He is out of danger and I have assured the parents that he will recover fully."
She paused, glancing over to the private cubicle where the proud Klingon father and the somewhat anxious Romulan mother were hovering over their child. "They do not seem to be assured though. I have asked Rayna to talk to them when she gets off duty, and once we are docking at Assaillant I am going to make a few arrangements for them. Tedak will most likely be willing to help, otherwise Envoy K'Tar is likely to offer assistance. There is still one person that has not yet reported to sickbay, and that is the boy Commander Reynolds has taken into his care. I am going to pay the commander a visit once I have again assured the parents of the little boy that he will survive without any consequences to his illness. It appeared the boy had had contracted one of the human children's diseases but had taken a turn for the worse because of his unique constitution. Computer, end log."
T'Val stacked her PADDs neatly and walked out of her office, straight towards the boy's parents. "Commander K'Targ, Miss S'anra, you are welcome to stay with your son tonight. I have my quarters available to you and made sure that the guestroom has been prepared for you. Rhian will make a full recovery, and I have made sure he is vaccinated against all other children's diseases that are common within the Federation."
The parents nodded at her gratefully, both for the care she had given their half-breed son, as well as the hospitality she was providing them with. "Thank you healer," S'anra replied, "you are most kind."
"I am a healer," T'Val replied neutrally, "and I have a young child myself. He resides with his father, where he is safe, usually. Please let me know if you need anything, I have something else to attend to now." T'Val nodded once more at them, picked up a medkit and headed towards Reynolds' quarters.
"I apollogize for disturbing you at this time commander," she started, "but the boy residing with you has not yet been examined. I need to be certain that he is not a carrier of any contagious diseases, both for adults as well as any child here on board."

His meditation always did seem to help. It calmed his nerves a bit, which was the only thing that was truly bothering him. He had on a whim taken Caleb into his care, but he stood by his decision. He was a wonderful boy, who he knew who'd make a wonderful son. The only problem was himself. Was Matt ready to be a father at his age. He knew that people have been doing it for centuries, but still he knew it was hard.
Matt cleaned up his candles and readied himself for bed. Yet it was not meant to be because once he laid down on his bed there was a beep at the door.
"Who is it?" Matt asked a bit grouchy.
"Healer T'Val," was the response. Matt quickly opened the door and there was T'Val with a medkit in hand.
"I apologize for disturbing you at this time commander," she started, "but the boy residing with you has not yet been examined. I need to be certain that he is not a carrier of any contagious diseases, both for adults as well as any child here on board."
Matt felt so stupid about forgetting about the simple protocol, he should of known better. What if Caleb was caring something that could endanger the rest of the crew, what if he is sick? It should of been the first thing I should of done Matt told himself.
"Of course, come in please," Matt said making room for T'Val to enter and hoping that she wouldn't notice that he felt entirely pitiful at the moment.
<Tag T'Val>
Matt then remembered that he was barely dressed and so he put on a T-shirt while T'Val headed into Caleb's room. Once he acceptably dressed he followed her in.
"Is everything alright?" Matt said as he sat down next to Caleb.

"Of course, come in please," Matt said making room for T'Val to enter and hoping that she wouldn't notice that he felt entirely pitiful at the moment.
T'Val ignored the fact that the commander was barely dressed, it didn't really bother her. If people were comfortable wearing near to nothing, then that was what they should do in the confinement of their quarters. Besides, as a healer it wasn't as if she hadn't seen barely dressed men before, and emotionally it didn't bother her, nor did it professionally.
She walked straight to the room where Reynolds indicated the boy was sleeping and she sat down carefully at the side of the bed, gently pulling back the covers. Reaching into her kit, she revealed a tricorder, quenched the sound level and started slowly running her scanner over the boy's torso and head.
Matt then remembered that he was barely dressed and so he put on a T-shirt while T'Val headed into Caleb's room. Once he acceptably dressed he followed her in.
"Is everything alright?" Matt said as he sat down next to Caleb.
T'Val snapped her tricorder shut and reattached her scanner to it. "He seems to be in perfect health commander," she assured him, "though I would like you to bring him by in the morning for a few more elaborate tests and his inoculations. Also, there is a child in sickbay who is ill, perhaps he could keep the boy company for a little while to give his parents relief?"

Jeff wasn't really doing much this morning. Everything was running in as god a condition as could be expected, so Jeff was Busy restoring umbilical power control. the warp cores would be sent back down to the shuttle bay, and Starbase personnel would oversee transfers of new shuttles on board. The main tractor beam had been restored from it's temporary role as a cutting beam, and phasers had been restored to full power. Shields were recharging, and were at nearly 70%. Jeff disconnected the last of the shuttle cores, and they were transported back to the shutllebay. The rest wass grunt work and his crew was more then capable of doing it, so Jeff left for engineering.
Arriving in his office, he found somebody waiting. "Hi, I'm Max Smith." the older man opened. "I was chief engineer aboard the Oceanus."
"Jeff Pudlo, Chief engineer of the Jefferson. pleased to make your acquaintance." heff Responded. "What bings you here?"
"Curiosity, mainly. I was wondering if You could give me a tour of main engineering."
"I suppose. It's a pretty standard Starfleet layout, just biger then most." "I can see that." He guestured to the window overlooking it. "but I was wondering if you might let me help out with repairs."
"Absolutly. Any help is good help."
"Do you think I can get a spot back in starfleet?"
"I think all of that comes later, but yes."

Scene: Officer’s quarters, Deck 2, USS JEFFERSON
T'Val snapped her tricorder shut and reattached her scanner to it. "He seems to be in perfect health commander," she assured him, "though I would like you to bring him by in the morning for a few more elaborate tests and his inoculations. Also, there is a child in sickbay who is ill, perhaps he could keep the boy company for a little while to give his parents relief?"
As T'Val was telling him that everything seemed to be alright, a great lift came off Matt's shoulders. He's okay, Matt told himself as he brushed the boy’s long hair away from his eyes.
"Yes of course, I'll bring him to you first thing in the morning," Matt said as he got up from the bed. T'Val packed her med kit and excused herself and left Matt quarters. Lucky me, Matt told himself as he sat down on his couch. Matt already knew that he would not be getting any sleep tonight. So he first fed his fish, Zelda and once again started to write his paper on DNA Manipulation for the Starfleet Science Department.
Six hours later
Matt would have to thank T'Val for waking him last night, he got the most work done on his paper than any other day. Matt quickly showered and got dressed and went into Caleb's room, where he was already awake.
"You wake up early," Matt said as he went to the closest drawer to get some clothes for Caleb to wear.
"Well of course, I always had to wake up at 0500 hours anyways," Caleb said.
"You won't have to do that here anymore," Matt said," in fact your will be going to school starting next week."
"School, are you serious?" Caleb asked in disbelief.
"Yes, I have already arranged it," Matt said.
"Wow, I never thought that I would go to school," Caleb said.
"Really why not?" Matt asked concerned.
"Because on Oceanus, are teachers were our parents and when they died, I stopped learning new things," Caleb said matter of fact.
The way that Caleb talked about his parent’s death disturbed Matt. He has not yet grieved for them has he Matt thought.
"Well let’s not talk about that now," Matt said as he patted Caleb's clothes," get dressed, were going to see Healer T'Val."
"Why?" Caleb asked.
"Because I said so," Matt said laughing as he headed out the door.
"Hey....who...," Caleb started to say, but realized why fight it; he needed to get dressed anyways. It took him about twenty minutes to get showered and dressed and in that time Matt had decided what he would eat.
"Are those pancakes?" Caleb said as he crossed the threshold of Matt quarters.
"Yes and there for you," Matt said as he sat down to drink his juice. Caleb quickly made his way to the table and gobbled everything up in sight. Matt just continued to be amazed at the little boy and how he acted. He tried to act as an adult, but when it came to the little things he was a boy.
“Are you ready to go Caleb?” Matt said as he put the dishes in the replicator.
“Yep, wait I mean yes I’m ready to go,” Caleb said as he reached Matt at the door.
Scene: Sickbay, Deck 7, USS JEFFERSON
“Have you ever seen television?” Caleb asked as the entered sickbay. Matt never knew that someone so young could talk so much.
“I’ll tell you later, for now you need to get examined by the Healer,” Matt said as he pointed to the bio bed closest to them.
“Healer T’Val I have brought Caleb for his test,” Matt said as he approached the child that T’Val must have been talking about.
“Get away from my child you human,” a large Klingon man said as he charged to Matt. Matt side stepped and the Klingon missed his attack.
“What the hell are you doing?” Matt asked the Klingon.
“You are not to touch my child,” the Klingon said again.
“I did no such thing,” Matt said as he got face to face with the Klingon not backing down.
“Commander Reynolds, stop acting like a child,” Healer T’Val said coolly. Matt was mad at the rashness of the Klingon, but he did as T’Val asked and sat next to Caleb. T’Val talked to the Klingon, but Matt could not tell what about and to be frank he didn’t really care.

“Caleb, for now I must leave I need to report for my shift,” Matt told Caleb as Healer T’Val approached.
“Okay, but when I finish can you come back for me?” Caleb asked.
“Yes of course,” Matt said as he acknowledged T’Val and walked out of sickbay and headed towards the bridge.
Scene: Auxiliary Battle Bridge, Deck 3, USS JEFFERSON
The argument with the Klingon made Matt very upset, he shouldn’t let someone make him act that way, especially in front of the Caleb and the sick child. Yet, luckily for him T’Val was there to cool things down.
“Lt. Quindara your shift is over, my turn to take over,” Matt said as he placed his hand on his seconds shoulder.
“Yes, sir,” Monica said,” I have just finished a full systems scan and everything is running at the peak efficiency.”
“That doesn’t mean much, what percent is that?” Matt asked knowing that the efficiency could not be at most 80 percent.
“Everything is running at 79.3 percent, Commander,” Monica said. Well at least I was close Matt told himself as he took his seat.
“Admiral Loskene we will be reaching Assailant in six hours,” Matt reported.
“Good once we reach communication range get them through to me,” Loskene said as he went back to the PADD that he was reading.
“Will do sir,” Matt said as he continued to work.

T'Val guided the boy onto a biobed as she watched Reynolds get into a near-argument with the Klingon father of the other ill boy. She motioned Caleb to stay put as she went over to resolve the argument. "Commander Reynolds, stop acting like a child," she chided the chief of operations, and then pulled the Klingon aside. "K'Targ, the commander has a young child with him that may be able to keep your son company. I suggest you take his offer to have his ward do so. At present Caleb is the only child of his age present that he may recognize, and your son does need to socialize."
She gazed over at S'anra, who looked less troubled at the prospect of a human boy keeping her klingon/romulan son company. "He may keep Rhian company for as long as he wishes. I am certain Rhian will even appreciate having a friend around."
"I am certain," T'Val said as she walked Reynolds back to Caleb. "The boy is welcome to stay in sickbay while you attend to your duties," she offered, "I will keep an eye on him." She pressed a hypospray against the boy's throat and saw him start as the item hissed and injected the contents of a vial she had inserted into it. "There, now you are protected against all diseases that may or may not go around on this ship or any starbase," she said mildly.
<Caleb>
"Now, why do you not go and see if Rhian is awake? Do not let Commander K'Targ intimidate you. He is merely looking out for the welfare of his son. Mrs S'anra will inform you of anything you may or may not do or tell a klingon/romulan youth, though I am certain that you have met Rhian before. Once Rhian is well enough, you may go play with him around sickbay."

Caleb didn't trust the healer, but he didn't know why. In fact he didn't know why she wouldn't smile at him. The closest person that matched her description was a Romulan, but other than that he didn't know what she was.
"Why don't you smile at me, my other doctor always smiles at me?" Caleb asked as he rubbed the spot where the hypospray was injected into him.

Me intimidated by K'Targ never, Caleb thought, he's an old softy Caleb told himself with a smile.
"Wait did you said I could play around sickbay?" Caleb asked. He didn't even wait for an answer as he made his way towards Rhian. Unfortunately for Caleb Rhian was still asleep, so Caleb just waited next to his bed hoping that he would wake up quickly.

Admiral Loskene had just walked into his ready room and Commander Matthews had been gone to check on the passengers. So Matt was left in charge of the Jefferson. There of course was good news, they would be reaching Assailant in less than an hour and would be able to take some R&R.
I can finally get him to taste some real ice cream, Matt told himself as finished the last of the reports and just waited for the Jefferson to arrive home.
