Gareth heard his name called to come down to sickbay. Thank you, he thought. His sore muscles had started to seize up while he was running diagnostics and scans on the systems. He nodded to the new first officer as he left, he would have to introduce himself to him later. Luke... Dunsmore he believed was the name of the FO. He got in the turbolift and sped off towards sickbay. He arrived in sickbay a short time later which he was very thankful for as his hamstring felt like it was going through rigor mortis. He caught the doctor's eye and limped over to a biobed and sat down. He then realized that was not a good idea and got off to walk around.

OOC: This is a joint post between myself and Gareth.
IC: She notices him walking it off.
"Okay, ensign, sit down on the biobed." She says and grabs a tricorder. Gareth winced mentally as his hamstring complained but gritted his teeth then forgot about it momentarily as he looked at her.
Gareth looked at her quizzically, "I might have amnesia too. I can't seem to recall your first name."
"I am sure I would have remembered if I gave it to you. I see some bad bruises, and a pulled muscle. How did this happen?" She says raising an eyebrow.
Gareth smiled a little impishly. "Aww... that's no fair. How abou' I trade ya my answer t' your question for your name? Seems like an innocent enough trade. Yes?"
"Well, ok then, if I must to learn the answer. My first name is Angel." She says hoping he will give the answer quickly and not comment on her name.
Gareth nodded his head. "Quite a fittin' name for a lady such as yourself. He resisted the urge to kiss her hand fearing he might get slapped.
Gareth laughed a little sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck. "T' be frank with ya I was practicin' some techniques on th' holodeck when I did a high kick and felt my hamstring pull. Th' bruises I acquired on th' last mission. I was thrown into a combat ring and was beaten up thoroughly. I have been able t' ignore them until now but... he shrugged.
"Well that is not something to take lightly. I will heal those immediately. I have scanned your entire body, and it says your eyes aren't registering as they should. What is up with that?" She says wondering why he hasn't looked at her. She gets a hypospray ready and puts it to his neck.
Gareth felt the hypospray take immediate effect and sighed. "No I suppose I shouldn't. It's a bit of a habit I learned from my father. Th' way of th' samurai. Any weakness ya show can be used against ya so th' best way t' stay alive is t' ignore pain." He then looked at his feet and laughed a little. "As t' th' subject of my eyes, it's better t' show ya than try t' explain." He pushed his hair out of his eyes and looked directly into Paris' eyes. She gasps and drops the hypospray. She has never seen a pair quite like this, and wonders why she is staring at them.
"Has this always been this way, or did it happen later? Can you see anything at all?" She says her inquisitive side taking over. She tries to ignore the side that is a bit attracted.

Luke began to get fidgety, he was evaluating the first of many crew reports and was getting more than a little frustrated but he was sure that it was something that he was just going to have to deal with.
He looked up and noticed that the Victory was still cruising at a very low warp, apparently they were in no real hurry to get anywhere. Luke looked around the ship and saw that Tiffani was also working hard on some padds.
Luke stood up and approached Tiffani. He cleared his throat quietly.
"Hey Tiff, hows things been?" Luke asked.
<TAG Tiffani>
"Yeah, I am alright. Just settling in. You know how it is." Luke replied. "Have you got a spare 30 minutes or so? I could use your help in familiarizing myself on the senior crew and also your telepathic abilities are going to be key in this conference. Your input on the Baltorian's would be of great use." Luke said.

"Hey Tiff, hows things been?" Luke asked.
*Tiffani was busy studing a padd that had information about the alien races they was mediating between, when she heard Luke's voice, she looked up* good *she replied in a friendly, but kinda stand offish tone, she had not been prepared to speak to him so soon, but knew it would eventually happen* how are you doing? *she questioned attempting to seem more friendly*

sure, *she replied* we could discuss it in the ready room, or did you have somewhere else in mind? *she looked at him questionally*

"Perhaps we should go to the briefing room?" Luke responded to Tiffani. "It isn't in use yet and its quiet so we wont be disturbed while we are working." Tiffani nodded and the two of them exited the bridge and entered the Victory's briefing room. Luke waited for Tiff to sit down and then he did himself. "So Tiffani... what can you tell me about the crew?" Luke asked. Time Passes "Thanks Tiffani." Luke said. "I'm glad we had this conversation. It certainly has helped me a lot!" <TAG Tiffani> "We definately should meet up off duty hours and catch up though." Luke said standing up and heading for the briefing room doors. <TAG Tiffani> Luke smiled and nodded and the two of them entered the bridge again. Luke sat down next to the Commodore and leaned over to talk to him. "When are we having the mission briefing?" Luke asked." <TAG Commodore Walker> "Right, and it will take place on the Jefferson, yes?" Luke asked. <TAG Commodore Walker> "Ok then..." Luke said to himself more than anyone else. He swung the arm console towards him and noticed that the ship had slowed down. On further investiagtion Luke discovered there was a slight descrepancy in the warp plasma flow regulator. "Dowding to Engineering." Luke said into the comm. <TAG Lt. Owens> "Can ypu please check the plasma flow regulators?" Luke asked. =^= I am already on it Commander =^= Came the response. =^= I noticed the descrepancy about half an hour ago. I think we are going to have to drop out of warp for a while =^= Luke looked at Walker who nodded. "Go ahead Lt." Luke said into the comm. <TAG Lt. Owens> "Should we inform the Jefferson?" Luke asked Commodore Walker as the comm cut.

T'Val was already missing her son, as she returned to duty that evening. "That is illogical," she murmured.
"What is?" Rayna asked, as she walked into the office, carrying a stack of PADD's. "Some ensign stuffed these in my hands," she huffed, as she dropped them on the desk, "as if I'm a delivery girl of some sort."
T'Val raised an eyebrow at the Romulan woman. "It is illogical to miss my son," she replied dutifully, "I sent him to spend time with his father. Tedak has as much right to see him grow up as I do. That and considering that he will be safer aboard Starbase Assaillant. This vessel is no place to raise a child."
She gazed down at the PADDs. "What are they?"
"Crew statuses," Rayna replied, "though I already know that you've seen to the majority of the crew. However, you missed out on Commander Matthew and Lieutenant Giga." Rayna did her best to keep he smirk out of her face. She thought she still owed T'Val something....but more in the light of a prank and she would yet get the woman to smile at some point, or her name wouldn't be Rayna tr'Havran i'maheia.
T'Val sighed as she picked up the first PADD and read the name on top of it. "Very well," she murmured, as she tapped her combadge. "Lieutenant Giga, report to sickbay for your required physical as new crewmember. Commander Matthew you better be down here in fifteen minutes or I am coming up to get you myself."
<Giga/Matthew>
Rayna smirked at the civillian healer, and turned on her heals to leave sickbay. Once she stood outside, she broke out in silent laughter. On her way to the bridge, she encountered Giga. "Lieutenant, do me a little favour?" she smiled sweetly, "play along with the good doctor a bit would you? She needs some distraction, seriously! She works too hard!"

ooc: sorry for late response and all the quotes...am too tired to really think up a full post right now...sorry!
Firestorm's interest was peaqued. "Genetic structure?" he purred, "oh yes! But shouldn't we confer with the medical teams of both ships on that?"
"I don't know," Firestorm said, almost in a panic, "I may have signed on as a scientist but I'm a nurse! A physicians assistance would be very welcome...I only know how to treat people I know nothing about medicine or molecular structures of people."
"And the doctor on the USS Jefferson," Firestorm put in, starting to feel calmer now that professionals would be enlisted. "As for a molecular scan...all I know is that we could use a tricorder just to get their biological readings. The medical teams could then pick those readings apart how they please."

Luke sat back in his chair as the Victory dropped out of warp. Moments before, Luke had sent a transmission to the Jefferson of the situation and so both ships activated a full stop. Luke rubbed his eyes, he hadn't had a proper sleep since he left the Tiger Shark. However there was a mission to complete and his place was on the bridge. "Maybe you should go freshen up Commander." Commodore Walker said, more as an order than as an idea. Luke nodded and rose from his seat and exited the bridge. He would return to his quarters, take a quick shower and grab a coffee. In no time at all he would be back on the bridge. When Luke arrived back in his quarters the model of the Tiger Shark caught his eye. He walked over to it and pressed the deflector dish, bringing up the star chart and blinking red dot that was now moving. He glanced at the data he was receiving. 234 mark 7. Risa. Luke was glad the crew was getting a holiday, they deserved it. He would contact J'Leera after his shift was over... they hadn't spoken since he left the Tiger Shark. 24 minutes later Luke strolled onto the bridge feeling refreshed and ready for action. Before sitting down he went to the back of the bridge and accessed the engineering console. The warp core was still offline and apparantly would be for the next few hours or so. Luke sat down and gazed out of the viewscreen, the stars were still now that they were out of warp but Luke still found them strangely hypnotizing. He broke his gaze from the viewscreen and turned to the Commodore. "When will we transport to the Jefferson?" He asked. <TAG Commodore Walker>

Gary had finished his repair on the bracket. It had felt good to fix something himself. He climbed out of the recess pit he had climbed into, and looked at his duty engineers.
"Could we get some introductions here?" he asked good naturedly.
"Ensign Tanner" came one reply.
"Ensign Turner" came another.
"Ensign Teh'nuhr" came still another.
Yeah. Right. Very funny. No more names until he had his coffee. He went to the replicator, but the only beverage listed was something call Veh'niv. Selivs program, no doubt. He'd program in some coffee later. Right now, something didn't sound right. He found a problem in one of the plasma flow regulators. It appeared worn, and was beginning to cause an imbalance. The core still operated within specs, though. It would have to be watched for signs of failure.
"Ensign Tanner, monitor number three plasma flow regulator. It's showing its age."
"Aye." Came the reply.
About half an hour later. with a fizzle and hiss, it showed the first signs of failing altogether. It would probably rupture within the hour. The regulator began to vibrate. with the reduced flow, the ship slowed. Gary's commbadge chirped.
=/\=Dowding to Engineering.=/\= came Commander Dowdings voice
"Aye sir." He replied. "I hope this is brief, because with all going down here, we've not much time for much more.
"Can you please check the plasma flow regulators?" Dowding asked.
Smart man, this Exec. Using all points of the bridge to maximise effectiveness in his command decisions, and that includes the bridge Engineering display, usually only manned in yellow or red alert status.
"I am already on it Commander" he responded. "I noticed the descrepancy about half an hour ago. I think we are going to have to drop out of warp for a while." Luke looked at Walker who nodded.
=/\=Go ahead Lt.=/\= Dowding replied.
The transmission ended, and Gary saw the ship had dropped out of warp.
"Tanner, get it powered down, then get a thermal dampener on it. Get it cooled down.Turner, get another regulater replicated right away."
He was going to be late for his agreed upon physical in sickbay. This would have to take priority.

"We definately should meet up off duty hours and catch up though." Luke said standing up and heading for the briefing room doors.
Yes, that would be nice *she said as the stood and made their way back onto the bridge* hopefully willl get some time to relax soon enough.
*with that said she took a seat next to the captain and leaned back in the chair as the two continued on their conversation, she watched as Luke left the bridge after being more less ordered to do so by the captain, she smirked to herself*

Giga was confused by his call to Sickbay. Well as confused as an Android can be. Why would he need a physical? He assumed it had been a mix up and decided that it would be best if he visited the sickbay in person, especially as Commandent Dowding (Commander Luke Dowding's father) was encouraging the development of his inter-personal skills. Giga left the bridge in the capable hands of Lt. Winters. Giga's first impressions of this individual were impressive. ***** Giga arrived at the Sickbay a few minutes later. As he was about to enter a Romulan female exited and smirked at him... Giga thought of it as a smirk as he had never seen a Romulan smile. Giga was about to ask what game he was supposed to be playing but the Romulan had already bustled off. "Odd..." He muttered to himself whilst stepping through the sickbay doors. "You requested my presence Healer?" Giga asked. Noticing the Jefferson's FO on one of the Bio-beds. "One moment please Lt." T'Val said. "I am currently attending to Commander Matthew here." "Of course Healer." Giga replied. "I will be just over here." Giga said motioning to one of the corners of the room. <TAG T'Val>

Gary took the replacement regulater from Turner, and fastened it into place. After an extensive diagnostic, resulting in a green light for restart, he ordered the plasma flow reulator pe placed inline with the rest of the system. Restarting the core would be unneccesary, for it had not been shut down, rather, number three regulator had been bypassed.
A couple of hours after dropping out of warp, and once the familiar "Thwum- ...thwum- ...thwum... had returned to normal, Gary contacted the bridge.
"Owens to bridge. Repairs complete. You have full warp capabilities at your discression."

T'Val nodded and turned her back on the science officer. "Please lay down and keep still," she told Matthew as the diagnostic semi-circle closed over the first officer. The Vulcan healer ran every test possible, but had to conclude that the commander was as fit as a fiddle. "You may return to duty commander," T'Val said, then beckoned Giga.
"For some reason, there is no medical record available for you," T'Val stated, as she motioned for Giga to place himself on the biobed. She glanced at the PADD for a few seconds, while the semi-circle closed over the android officer. She had already noted the lieutenant's pallor, but she hadn't made the link to what he was quite yet.
Almost instantly, the monitors started beeping and whining in alarm. Starled, T'Val hastily shut down the alarms and peered at the diagnostic board. "Why did you not state that you were an android?" she said, almost accusingly as the semi-circle opened itself, "and why does your medical profile not state this either?"

Luke was talking to Commodore Walker when the bridge comm system sounded.
Luke tapped his comm badge.
"Thank you Lt. Owens. I will inform you when we decided to return to warp. Well done on your hard work and thank your team for me as well. Dowding out."
Luke tapped his comm badge, closing the comm. As he did this his arm console flashed, Luke swung it round and saw that he had recieved a transmission from the Jefferson. He opened the transmission and read it, it turned out to be from Commander Mathew, the FO of the Jefferson. Luke had been planning to get in touch with him before much longer anyway.
Luke began to type a reply to the Commander, he was on the bridge and so he decided a voice transmission would be too distracting:
Commander Matthew,
Thank you very much for your kind congratulations. I am sure that my time on the Victory will be enjoyable, however I do not doubt the difficulties that I may face.
I agree with you one hundred percent. We need to arrange a briefing between the two senior crews, and perhaps a meet and greet buffet afterwards? Perhaps we should meet on the Jefferson? It being the Flagship of the Alpha Squadron.
I look forward to your response,
Commander Luke Dowding
"Computer seal transmission and send." Luke said.
"What's that Commander?" The Commodore asked in regards to the transmission.
"The FO of the Jefferson requested that we meet soon. I have left it to his and Commodore Loskene's descretion but I have suggested that we meet on the Jefferson and have some sort of Buffet afterwards so the crews can get to know each other." Luke replied.
"OK Commander, keep me informed." Walker said as he was handed a padd by an Ensign.
"Commodore, we can also jump to warp when ever you are ready."

Giga was confused.
"It states on my Starfleet personnel file that I am a Positronic Android. I am unsure why this information was not sent to you." Giga paused and looked at T'Val. "Have I failed to complete this game?" He asked.
"What game?!" T'Val enquired.
"I was informed by a Romulan female that I was to 'play along'. I assumed by 'play' she meant a game. Did I get this wrong?" Giga asked.

ooc: hm well sorry about the oneliner earlier...but I won't modify a post when I got something new to respond to:p
ic:
T'Val raised an eyebrow, then handed him the PADD showing him that the information she had received did not include a mention of him being an android. "A Romulan female?" she then asked, "it seems you have met Commander Rayna. She is somewhat of an outcast to the Romulan Empire now, but you will have to ask her for details as it is not up to me to give them without prior permission from her."
She gazed the android over; apart from his unusual colour, he seemed almost human in posture. "I believe that this 'game' she referred to is commonly known as pulling a prank on someone. In this case, she wanted you to assist her in making me believe that you were human and in need of a physical. She must have obscured the part of you being an android from your personnel file before handing it to me. Therefor, when she asked you to play along, she wanted you to do as I told you and place yourself on the biobed, and allow me to waste my time on tests that would not give any plausible result."
She paused as she gazed at the lieutenant. "I believe she has succeeded, for I indeed asked you to place yourself on the biobed, which you did. So unbeknownst to yourself, you did play along. Humour is such a complicated item to grasp, whether it be human or Romulan. Do you not find the concept confusing? I am married to a Romulan, yet I do not understand his emotions." ~Yet at times I display them too, but they are greatly confusing~ she thought.

Gareth smiled and hopped off the biobed to help pick up the dropped hypospray and handed it back to her. He sat back down on the biobed as he told her about his eyes.
"I was born with my eyes like this. My father helped me t' hone my abilities so I could still "see" my surroundin's without th' actual use of my eyes. So technically I am blind but I can still "see" by usin' th' echoes off of thin's to sense where they are and if they're movin' or not."
He sensed that she was slightly attracted to the sense of mystery that surrounded him, which made him smile. He then noticed that she was staring at his eyes. He now wished he had a pair of his sunglasses with him but knew his last ones were either broken or forever gone. He got up off the biobed and looked down at Paris. She was over half a foot shorter than him which made him tower over her but it looked like she would fit right under his chin.
"Anymore questions ma'am or am I cleared t' go?" he asked.
His hair fell into his eyes again and he decided to leave it there for the time being as it would help him to concentrate on one job at a time when he got back to the bridge.

She is disappointed that he covered his eyes again as she was really starting to like seeing them. She thought they were amazing, and that him seeing without real sight was awesome. She smiles, and then realizes he asked a question.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't find anything wrong with you, so you are free to go." She says remembering she is needed on the bridge.
"If you don't mind the company, then I would like to walk with you to the bridge. I am needed there right now as well." She says trying to read his reaction to this, and can't without his eyes.

Giga nodded.
"I too get very confused when it comes to humour - whatever the species. I am unaware of the concept, I assume it is because of my lack of emotions."
T'Val nodded, as if in agreement but said nothing.
"So this game." Giga started. "Was in fact not a game, but a joke based on the Romulan's, Commander Rayna, sense of humour - that neither of us can grasp." Giga stopped. "That appears to be a pointless exercise." He said.
"Yes, I will never quite grasp the enjoyment that seems to come from humour." T'Val said.
"Indeed." Giga replied. "Would it be possible for me to return to duty now?" He asked.

Luke drummed his fingers mindlessly on the arm of his chair. He sighed deeply and decided that he would stretch his legs, his official duty shift had finished at least an hour ago so Luke decided to take a walk.
The Victory was still out of warp, as was the Jefferson. Luke sighed again, he supposed that it made sense to remain out of warp whilst the briefing took place, it would avoid transporting during warp which Luke always hated.
He slowly made his way down to his quarters on deck 8. As he entered them he noticed that he had left the star chart with the Tiger Shark tracker on. He walked over to it and noticed that the Tiger Shark's course had changed.
"Odd..." He muttered to himself. "Computer, using Star Chart/Tracker 546 please state the destination of the Tiger Shark.
=^= The USS Tiger Shark is currently en-route to Tzenketh =^=
"Computer please confirm that the Tiger Shark is on course for Tzenketh." Luke said, a tone of worry in his voice.
=^= Affirmative =^= The computer replied.
"What are they playing at?!" Luke yelled. He would have to get in touch with KezTrek, J'Leera anyone. Tzenketh had officially been quarintined due to what the crew of the Tiger Shark found there last time...
Luke's thoughts were interupted by a call from the bridge.
=^= Commander Dowding, please report to the bridge." Came the voice of Commodore Walker =^=
Luke tapped his comm badge. "Aknowledged Commodore." He would have to deal with the startling discovery later.

ooc: did anyone miss Firestorm mentioning talking to Angel Paris and the Jefferson science and medical officers about this DNA problem thingy?
ic:
Firestorm paced the bridge, starting to get really annoyed. He had paged sickbay with a couple of queries but they had gone unanswered. Finally he tapped Dowding on the shoulder. "If she doesn't get up here soon, I'm going to request a beam over to the Jefferson and see if their science and medical staff can assist me. Is that acceptable?"
His copper coloured fur was standing out in a sign of sheer annoyance, and his ears were lying flat on his head, his pupils were dilated and he was flicking his entire tail.
Just then, Angel entered the bridge. "Ah, there you are, finally," Firestorm said, allowing annoyance to creep into his voice, "oh by the way that tack worm infection. Nice try, but next time try that on someone who is not a trained medic eh? It may actually work then."
