Start to monitor that Ship Now . I want continuous scans I want you to report anything that looks out of the ordinary. Those scans should include the surrounding space and Planets as well." Loskene ordered.
"Aye, sir." Responded Lt. Audrey Faith as she turned back to her console. Audrey brought up the system dialog and tapped her console , to see what information the ship sensors Where able to pick -up . Cmdr Matthew Enter the Main Bridge at that Moment headed for his chair Captain I Heard on the Last Report. the sensors had pick-up a undignified ship on our sensors
Loskene > That right cmdr
Loskene . Mister Winters bring all weapons to bear on that ship and stand bye .
Cmdr Matthew > tapped his comm. badge,
Cmdr Matthew > anything new on the sensors?
Lieutenant J.G. T'Nar> Ummm not very much, Commander ?
Cmdr Matthew >. These sensor scans are sketchy at best. James leaned up against the computer display. ?
I’m tracking the ship, on our long range sensors and they are just coming in range we should have a clear sensor reading of that ship any second now ?

T'Val saw Loskene getting up and ready to run out of sickbay just in time. "Commodore I must protest. Medical protocols state -"
"Doctor, save your medical protocols for another time! Right now, there are more important things to deal with!" Loskene interrupted, and rushed towards the doors, only to be blocked by Ensign Winters. To her annoyance, T'Val saw Winters nod and let Loskene through.
~well if he wishes to hazard his own health, then so be it, but he then better not come complaining about it later~ she thought, as she returned to her office. She still had to perform a medical check on their prisoner, just to be sure that she brought no pathogens aboard that were not filtered out by the biofilter in the transporter.
"Mr Winters, please have Ms Rayna escorted to sickbay. I still need to check her over. Be sure that she is under constant guard, the woman is very devious and she may try to escape!"
Winters nodded, and only minutes later four security guards entered with Rayne, whose hands were tied securely behind her back. "Release her bonds and strap her down to a biobed," T'Val ordered, "then you may stand watch outside the examination room. If you hear anything out of the ordinary, or if I do not return within fifteen minutes, you may assume that something is wrong."
She walked into the room and gazed the other woman over, casting a look of pure hatred at her. "You may wish to know that we have examined your weapon," she finally said, as she pulled out a medical tricorder and closed th diagnostic semicircle over the tied down woman. "Now, we are going to check if you covertly brought any pathogens aboard."
"I don't doubt that," Rayna spat, "surely you will sooner infect me with something. I don't trust you Vulcans, you're a devious lot. Your CO offered me freedom...fine promise he made, here I am, strapped down!"
"I am unaware of such a promise and in my sickbay I shall take no chances," T'Val said icily, "whatever promise Commodore Loskene made you does not count here in sickbay. Now be quiet and let me do my work." T'Val continued to scan the woman and subject her to various tests, but everything came up clean.
"She is healthy, you may return her to her cell," T'Val finally reported to the security team. After they had left with the Romulan commander, T'Val again returned to her office and sent her report to Loskene's terminal in his readyroom, for him to read whenever he found a moment to enter his readyroom and access his computer.

Loskene had entered the bridge once he heard Matthews and Winters alerts on an unidentified craft. He sat down, a bit nervous but resolute.
Loskene: What is the configuration of the craft, Mr. Winters?
Winters: It appears to be Romulan sir. Veles-class.
Loskene: What are it's armaments?
Winters: Four photon torpedo banks, standard phasers. It is just as dangerous as a warbird sir. They will be in firing range in 10 minutes. They have not armed weapons yet, but it is very possible that they will once they come within firing range.
Loskene, desperate for options, contacted the sickbay.
Loskene: Dr. T'Val, our prisoner is healthy, correct?
T'Val: Yes sir, she is free of pathogens.
Loskene: I need to speak with her.
T'Val: I will have security bring her to the brig, she will be ready--
Loskene: No. Have her come to the observation lounge.
T'Val: If you think it is wise.
Loskene: I don't know. But I will not gain her trust by talking to her from outside a cell.
Loskene: Mr. Winters, keep an eye on that ship. Commander Matthews, you have the bridge. =^=Bridge to engineering, Commander Gibson, I don't wish to engage the Romulans, but if it comes to it, I would like to know that we will survive a fire fight. What is your status?=^=
<tag Gibson>
Loskene entered the observation lounge and stood at the end of the table, peering out the window, waiting for the woman who could end it all, in survival or destruction.

T'Val sighed audibly as she signed off the conversation with Commodore Loskene. It was fortunate that the guards had left only just before the commodore called, so they couldn't be far. Leaving the EMH in charge of sickbay, T'Val sped after the guards and the Romulan woman.
"I have to take her to the observation deck," she told the guards.
"We shall take her there then," one of the guards said, taking it as them being given an order to take her there.
T'Val shook her head. "No, I shall take her. You may keep tabs on her, but the commodore's orders were quite clear. He wishes to talk to her, on the observation deck."
The guard bowed his head. "Very well then," he said, and held out his phaser, "but doctor or not, you shall take a phaser." His expression told T'Val that he would not take a no for an answer, and the man was Starfleet. That meant that he certainly outranked her when it came to pulling rank, as she was just a civillian doctor.
"Very well," she answered and took the phaser. Next she motioned to Rayna, who had watched the conversation with interest. "Walk with me," T'Val said, though she did not take the restraints from the woman's wrists. It was very fortunate that she wasn't armed, and certainly not with that strange rod of hers.
Minutes later, the two women arrived on the observation deck, where Loskene was already waiting. T'Val gave him a quick check-over by covertly watching him, told Rayna to sit down and went to find Admiral Loskene. The Vulcan healer was concerned about the commodore, and she wished to share her concerns with the older version of Loskene, hoping that he could talk if not knock some sense in his younger self.
Rayna sat down and watched Loskene closely, then she met his gaze and stared at him haughtily. "What do you want now," she said, "are you going to gloat now? That I'm here, as your prisoner where before you were mine? Had I had my way, I would've killed you long ago.....but someone withheld me from doing so. You might be very grateful for that, hm?" She knew she was taunting him, but she liked doing so, she liked to try to anger him. For when he was angry, he was more likely to tell her what she needed to know where otherwise he most certainly would not tell her anything.
In her experience angered men would unconsciously disclose information to their women, or even male friends. It had taught her a valuable lesson at that, and she thought it could be useful here. Yet, she also knew that she must not underestimate the man before her, or the crew that served with him. The Vulcan had also proven to be cunning, but Rayna possessed some cunning of her own....and she would employ it when needed.

Commodore Loskene remained calm as Rayna continued to intimidate her. Loskene instinctively tapped a panel on the wall.
Commodore Loskene: =^=Commodore Loskene to Admiral Loskene, you may enter the room now.=^=
Shortly after, the Admiral entered the room and whispered something to the Commodore.
Commodore Loskene: There is no need to whisper. Aloud please.
Admiral Loskene: I was saying, Commodore, that the visual evidence has been prepared. My Jefferson was able to transport this device through the rift, however, I am uncertain of how long the rift will remain open, this may be the last time I will be able to contact my ship.
Commodore Loskene nodded, and Admiral Loskene took something out of his pants pocket. It was a small, silver, spherical device. He held it out and it hovered out of his hand and floated over to the wall. It stopped in its tracks and hovered in place.
Admiral Loskene: Ms. Rayna, allow me to introduce myself. I am Admiral Loskene, and I come from what you would consider the future. I come bearing evidence of an extremely destructive weapon that will lead to terrible consequences in the future. Whether your government knows about the destruction it will cause is unknown to me, but I feel that you should know, for it is here where it will all begin.
Commodore Loskene: Rayna, the Admiral has prepared visual evidence to support our claim.
The Commodore continued, trying to press the urgency and seriousness of the matter.
Commodore Loskene: Rayna, I hold no grudge against you, and I do not blame you for what has transpired. I have no love of gloating, there is no time for it and this is not the place. If you had learned anything from my ill-placed telepathic message, you would know that it is not how I get things done. I ask you....I plead you...You are the only one who could possibly prevent this from happening. Please, look at the evidence...

Rayna gazed at the two men before her as she leaned back in her chair, and wondered if they were twins. Yet, as she looked more closely, the one wearing admiral's bars was clearly older. ~father and son perhaps?~ she wondered, then noticed that both men were carrying the same name, and from what the two were explaining, also commanded the same ship.
~perhaps there is some truth in his claims after all~ she relented, and waved for the admiral to show her his evidence. It couldn't hurt to just listen to their babbling, if it were indeed just babbling to win time. She did, however, have to admit dat the version wearing commodore's pips was right about one thing: he did not gloat, and he did seem mighty desperate to her.
She watched at the scenario that unfolded before her in the holographic message, and she involuntarily felt blood drain from her face. If this was forged evidence, it was forged pretty convincingly. "How am I the only one to avert such a disaster," she finally demanded, determined not to show both men that she was increasingly convinced that they were telling her the truth, "surely if this is true, the Empress shall hear your claims. If this is true, why are you sneaking into Romulan territory, rather than applying for aid from my people?"

Jefferson Main Bridge Cmdr Matthew , was pacing around the bridge awaiting the department heads reports. In the mean time Ops were giving him regular updates as to the conditions around the as well as other trivial matters of the daily operations of a star ship he needed to attend to. The science department had reported in and Deputy Chief of science Ensign T,Nar was on station on the bridge.
The latest sensors reading on the unknown ship where being Taking
The door to the bridge slid open and in walked Lieutenant winters. As he made his way to Cmdr Matthew and snapped to attention. "Sir, all security teams have been placed on stand-by and I have roaming patrols in all the ship. There have been no reported accidents so far , Sir."
Cmdr Matthew tugged on his uniform to straighten it, "Very good , Mister winters at ease. Winters nodded, Cmdr Matthew . With the commodore time being taken up with the appearance of Admiral Loskene there been a lot of strained place on the senior staff so far the commodore and our doctor have been close mouth about any of the details but as the ship executive I must keep the running of this ship and the safety of its crew my first priority I have a meeting with the commodore later today I hope to have all of my Questions answered then but I need for you and your security staff to be ready just in case some thing go,s wrong after all the complains are out there some where .
Lt Winters. "Sir I have already considered that scenario , I will take care of it immediately." We will be ready sir ‘
Cmdr Matthew liked the eagerness of the Chief security officer to please, which would be a big plus point. Cmdr Matthew’ then began reviewing Winters tactical placement of his security teams. " Remember, security is deployed to perform search and rescue if need be and you must rely upon the engineering teams to assist in such an event. The ship where to be Attacked ‘ and they tried to Board us

How am I the only one to avert such a disaster, she finally demanded, determined not to show both men that she was increasingly convinced that they were telling her the truth, surely if this is true, the Empress shall hear your claims. If this is true, why are you sneaking into Romulan territory, rather than applying for aid from my people?; Commodore Loskene took a big sigh before he began to answer her questions. He knew that time was of the essence and if they did not act quickly, it would result in utter destruction. Feeling as if the weight of the galaxy was on his shoulders, Commodore Loskene began to speak. Commodore Loskene: Well...Frankly... The Federation is still in the habit of taboo... Many in the Federation and elsewhere have a stigma about the Romulans...One of distrust, cowardice, some view you, by which I mean the whole Romulan race, as just some cold hearted manipulators who are constantly tugging on the puppet strings so to speak... Like the Civil war the Romulans ignited within the Klingon empire. It has only been several years since the Romulan praetor tried to destroy the Federation. To be honest... I unfortunately fell victim to the stigma that the Federation and other organizations have succumbed to. I believed that if I were to approach Romulan space in a Sovereign class vessel, you would view us with extreme suspicion, and would never comply with us, or trust us. It was unfortunate, but I didn't see any other choice. None of it matters now. None of it at all. All those years of distrust....They must be put aside. I know that peace is not a permanent presence, but our survival is more important then peace at the moment... I am asking you, because I believe that you want what is best for you and your people....and for the galaxy. I am admitting this, because I believe that the only way for peace is trust... Loskene's communicator chirped. =^=This is Matthew's sir...The Romulan vessel will be within firing range in 2 minutes. If we are to arm weapons and raise shields, I suggest that now is an appropriate time.=^= Loskene: Inform Mr. Winters to stand by. Loskene out. Commodore Loskene stood up and peered out the window. He was at a loss to say anything more...

Rayne was now beginning to see his line of reasoning, yet she didn't trust him. Ever since she was a child, she'd been taught that people from the Federation could not be trusted, and that they'd always wanted their right and did so by argument and forged images.
"How do I know these images you showed me are genuine?" she challenged, and listened as the elder Loskene explained impatiently how he'd gotten them.
Rayna nodded, but sat up straight when the call came through of a Romulan coming within weapon's range within two minutes. That was most likely her ship the ChR Wicarith. "If you want me to trust you, you will not fire at that ship," she stated, and watched their reaction. Naturally they didn't trust her, not even after their speech of taboo and trust.
Granted, they weren't exactly in a position to trust her, not after what she'd done to the commanding officer and the medical officer - ~no not officer~ Rayna thought ~she's civillian~ - of this ship. Yet on the other hand, the Federation vessel had sneaked into Romulan space and was trespassing. Therefor, the Romulans were entitled to destroy the ship after a warning was issued.
"I don't trust you," she finally said, surprised at how calm and icy her voice sounded, "yet apparently you leave me no choice. However, I will only help you because it will gain my people. If however, you cheat on me, I will make sure you all shall be killed." She pointed squarely at Commodore Loskene. "You first, and it will not be a pleasant death I assure you."

Commodore Loskene could tell that the Romulan meant business when she threatened him. He tapped his communicator...
Commodore Loskene: Bridge, keep the weapons at stand-by...
The Commodore thought for a moment. What he was about to do would be pure madness if it were an average tactical situation...However it was definitely not a normal situation. He couldn't stand thinking about it and just ordered it to get it out of the way.
Commodore Loskene: Bridge......... Lower our shields....
He was met with instant resistance.
Matthews: Commodore, that's not advisable.
Winters: Sir, in the interest of safety for the ship and the crew, I must-
Loskene: File any kind of protest you want gentlemen, but that is an order.
Commodore Loskene knew the route he was taking. He was putting himself in disfavor of his crew, something he never wanted. Loskene even pondered about a possible mutiny, a worst case scenario perhaps, but he still dreaded it.
Commodore Loskene: Mr. Winters....Comply with my order... You must all trust me...

=/\=Very well sir; but under the first indication of agression I will be raising them again=/\= replied Raiben and take the shields down
=/\=They are done as you requested, sir=/\=
Raiben knew something must be inside the Commodore's mind and he wished he could also share that knowladge.
He increased his attention at the Romulan vessel and kept a steady check of their tactical status. If that ship proves to have a trigger happy tactical officer they will meet with the brutal strenght of a Sovereigns weapons in the instant.
His hand was standing right on top of the shield modulation part of his console to raise them in an instant.

OFF: No, we don't have to rush through it, that's not enjoyable. I just want to make sure that everyone knows the mission is almost over... ON: Commodore Loskene, after hearing that Raiben had no objections, was slightly relieved. Now he had to worry about Rayna's next move, and that of the Romulans as well. He stood and waited for Rayna to make the next move. The ball was in her court now, so to speak. Commodore Loskene: Well... Shall we head onto the bridge, or shall we remain here as immortal enemies, while the galaxy plunges into destruction...? It's embarrassingly ironic... Years ago when the Borg attacked my realm, I was hoping that this galaxy...By which I mean your galaxy, would be purged of evil... Now, I stand here, as a protector, who will do anything to save it from destruction... Loskene began to smile to himself...It was an absurd thought...He began to realize that this truly was his home now... and that he would do anything to ensure it's survival.

Rayna forced herself to return the smile, but she was no longer enjoying the situation. She'd lost control of it, and that was something she thoroughly disliked. "The bridge would be fine," she said stiffly. ~that'd give me a chance to see more of your technology~ she thought.
She followed both men to the bridge, consciously aware of the security officers that trailed behind them, ready to jump into action if she'd try something. Once on the bridge, she moved to the operations console, as if it were the most natural thing in the universe to do.
"I must contact my ship," she said, and at Loskene's nod, did so. "Stand down on shields," Rayna told her first officer, "but keep weapons at ready. If they try anything that so much as hints that they're betraying us, destroy this ship."
She ignored the protest from her first officer. "That is an order. Destroy the ship and head back towards home base at best possible speed to inform the Empress of the Federation treachery. For now, I am inclined to trust them."
She looked straight at Loskene, with pure hatred in her eyes. "ChH Wicarith will follow you, but will destroy this ship if you betray us." She brushed her hand past her Honour Blade, surprised to find that she'd been allowed to keep the weapon. "I will die before they do so, however, retaining my honour. If you are right, the Romulan Empire will be in your debt."

Raiben closely watched the Romulan's actions across the bridge. Her calmness made him more and more cautious.
"She is just bluffing Raiben, even a Warbird can't take on a Sovereign alone" whispered Benjamn to his ears.
"When did you get interested in tech and warfare?" Raiben whispered back.
"Its fun as an observer. Make sure nothing happens to you. You are far more precious than you think. Now go back to your duty before someone notices your daydreaming" replied Benjamin.
Raiben gladly prepared the targets for his weapons and get a clear lock on them after the calculations. Only the weapons must get the commands of the lock. The weapons stayed as they are in waiting status just to get their locked tagets. Peacefull the Commodore requested and peacefull he will be.
Their sensors will not and never will be able to get into his brain or computer to know he calculated taget locks. If they fired on the Jefferson a button will enter the tagets, another button will unleash hell.
"Commodore, the Romulans are taking a flanking position" he reported.

=========== Scene Jefferson Main Bridge At Battle Stations RED ALERT===========
Cmdr Matthew entered throughout the sliding doors to the subdued lighting of the main Command Bridge. He looked around at the team of officers working quietly and intently.
He moved down to the center of the room and took his seat and began studying the Latest Romulain War Bird Schematics . Our Chief Engineering officer seemed to have very thing under control but James was concerned that a Direct Hit to the Port Shield at this time could possibly jeopardize the main power grid leaving the Ship not only vulnerable to attack but in the cold literally the Jefferson was in need of a Total over hall Badly. Mister Winters match the Romulains war bird actins what ever you do don’t let them out flank you . Cmdr Matthew Mumble to him self what is that Romulain Commander up to making Flanking maneuvers without firing before or after or is he trying to make us fire on them first so they can Clam we started the fight what ever they are up too we will be ready I just hope the commodore has a good plan up his sleeve this time at this level things can go south real fast .
Cmdr Matthew > Tap his comm. Badge Bridge to commodore Loskene ,
Commodore Loskene >Here
Cmdr Matthew >sir the Romulain,s look like they are making there move we need you on the bridge sir.

Lt. Winters panel stopped beeping, and it appeared that the Romulan ship had for the moment disarmed it's weapons.
Winters: Sir, the Warbird is at standby. It's taking position beside us.
Loskene nodded and informed the helm to get underway.
Loskene: Ensign Chen, plot a course for Cirrus Procae, warp 4.
The helm officer acknowledged and they were soon at warp. Admiral Loskene entered the bridge shortly after.
Admiral Loskene: Commodore, I have prepared the visual evidence for a wider audience. It would now be possible to transmit the evidence to any corner of Romulan space via your communications station.
Commodore Loskene: Before we jump ahead of ourselves, we need to meet Rayna's superior at Cirrus Procae. If we don't get her superiors permission to transmit this, it will most likely cause massive confusion and suspicion among the Romulans.
Admiral Loskene: Agreed. Commodore, supposing this doesn't work... What do we do then? If Rayna is any example, the Romulans will view us with as much, if not more spite.
Commodore Loskene: If it doesn't go as planned, we will most likely end up arrested and in enemy hands. Then again they may not have the chance to prosecute us. Judging by the shock wave we felt hours ago, it would seem that we are near the prelude of the devastating weapon.
The Admiral wanted to open his mouth to say something...But he knew himself, and he knew what his response would be. He said nothing and sat down. After a few hours, the Jefferson and the Romulan warbird came out of warp in the Cirrus Procae system. The moment they came out of warp, a small fleet of Romulan ships awaited them. Leading the fleet was a larger than normal Warbird.
Rayna: That is the Sector Commander's ship.
Loskene: Well, it's time. Hail them...

Rayna looked startled when the ship of the Sector commander showed up on the Jefferson's viewscreen. She had heard that his vessel was large, but this wasn't large....this was huge! She exchanged a worried glance with Loskene, as the commodore acknowledged the communication.
On screen, an aging Romulan appeared, streaks of white shooting through his raven black hair. His dark grey eyes looking menacingly at the people on the other end of his transmission. "This is sector commander N'Ryh. Federation vessel, you are trespassing into Romulan territory, lower your shields and prepare to be boarded."
"Wait!" Rayna spoke up, jumping in front of Loskene, both versions, "they have very important information to share with you." She paused and swallowed. One, especially just a commander, didn't speak up to a sector commander unasked. "It concerns Cirrus Procae," she finally finished.
N'Ryh frowned. "Speak," he finally said, "I'll listen. This better be worth my time."

Commodore Loskene, feeling as nervous as Rayna and perhaps everyone on the bridge, introduced himself. Loskene: Greetings...I'm Commodore Loskene of the Jefferson. I have something to show to you, and there is no time to loose. I would like to present you with information that is vital to the continued existence of the alpha quadrant and indeed, the whole galaxy. The Romulan on the screen remained silent. He folded his arms across his chest. After a few moments, Commodore Loskene took it as a cue to hand him the evidence. Admiral Loskene began to tap a console, and soon afterward, the visual evidence was transmitted to the Romulan Sector Commander. Finally, after several minutes of waiting for the recording to end, the Sector Commander stood, speechless. The Commodore had no idea what the Romulan was thinking. The Sector Commander looked more troubled, but still maintained a vicious calm. Commodore Loskene began to speak. Loskene: ...Do you know of this? Is this something that you are developing? The Sector Commander looked up, and at Rayna. Sector Commander: You will immediately return the Romulan you have taken captive. Your ship will then be taken to the border. However, you, the captain, will remain here and be processed through the Romulan legal system. Loskene: Commander Matthews... Get the ship out of here. I and Rayna will be headed to the transporter room... Matthews began to speak but the Commodore stopped him. Loskene: Have a safe trip... Rayna stood on the bridge. For some reason, she hadn't moved. Loskene could sense reluctance on her part. <tag: Help me somebody >

"I am not a prisoner," Rayna suddenly spoke up, "I may have been, but not anymore. Had I not trusted him, and not contacted you, the Romulan people may very well have been doomed. If you take him, the Romulan people will still be doomed."
She paused, staring at the Section Commander and this time without fear. "He did not have to come, he could have let us be doomed, especially after what I put him through, but he persisted. It is hardly fair to process someone that may very well have saved our people!"
Rayne glanced sideways at the Jefferson CTSO. "Tell him," she asked Winters, "tell them how you found your commanding officer, how I treated him, and how well he treated me in return. Tell him how he convinced me that what he told me was truth where I was convinced it were lies."

With an open mouth Raiben was looking towards the Commodore and going to ignore his order just as the Romulan requested help from him. Raiben looked at the Romulan woman and then the Sector Commander.
"She spoke the truth. She tortured Commodore Loskene to gain information, she gave him unbearable pains and still due to Federation Regulations and Commodores self actions Commander Rayna was treated like a guest more than a prisoner" spoke Raiben.
Commodore was not acting normally. Probably its because of things that are at stake; but Raiben is not going to risk things. He started to take on things in his mind. What if? Questions roamed his ideas and he came up to the solution that with a little security team he can rescue Loskene from captivity. The Romulans got no idea with whom they are dealing with. Probably Commodore was still acting awkward because of the damage he sustained at the interogation room. He quickly write a report to the Doctor T'Val as she requested.
Raiben smiled towards the Sector Commander, an evil smile.
"Commodore was barely alive when I found him aboard Commander Rayna's ship. Yet still your good Commander is well fed and in top notch condition. I'll advice you to recalculate the situation for your own sake" go on Raiben with that evil smile on his face.

Joint Post between Loskene and T'Val[/u]
Loskene: Rayna... I must ask you a favor... I know you may not agree with it but will you at least hear me out?
Rayna nodded quietly. She was upset that the sector commander demanded this officer's processing while he had averted disaster for the Romulan people. "Talk," she said curtly.
Loskene reluctantly began to speak, he did not believe what he was about to ask her
"You know that this is an unfair outcome... You have seen the evidence and we both know that such a devastating weapon exists.... I don't know how to say it, but when I was aboard your vessel... I had felt fear for one of the first times in my life."
Loskene continued, trying to sound official and contain himself. "I don't have to tell you that this will no doubt increase tensions between the Federation and the Romulan Empire. A captive flag officer will alarm quite a few people..."
Rayna raised an eyebrow at him. "You don't have to tell me that, I've already taken two officers captive earlier didn't I?" She regarded him closely. "I won't let them take you captive."
Loskene looked up, taken aback by Rayna's words.
Those are very gracious words...But what about your safety? From what I have seen in the past, your government does not take very kindly to disobedient officers... I would not feel right about it...
Rayna shrugged. "Then I die with honor," she replied, and showed him the blade she'd been allowed to keep. "I will kill myself if need be," she continued, "of course, I would rather not, but if honor demands it. It's mnei sahe.......a very difficult concept to explain." She gazed up at him. "But you're not going to that ship, it'll be your death then, and the end of the Romulan Empire."
Loskene looked down, feeling a bit lost. He responded; And they say Romulans have no sense of honor and integrity... They are sadly mistaken. I was about to ask you if you would request asylum aboard my vessel... I now see that I have no need to ask you that...
Now it was Rayna's turn to look away, somewhat embarrassed. "I would never ask," she said, "but it is very likely that I can't go back.....ever."
Loskene looked up, deeply concerned...
There must be something I....I mean we can do for you. . . You do not deserve the fate that will be handed to you. If you would not ask...then I will ask you.... Do you request asylum aboard this vessel...?
Loskene was unsure of what Rayna would say. He knew that she was brave and honorable, but Loskene was hoping that she would accept.
She wasn't sure how to respond, and turned a deep colour green as he spoke to her. "I don't?" she laughed sourly, "I meant to kill you Loskene, I hurt you and the other woman badly, and yet you offer my asylum....." She faltered, unsure how to respond. "I'll stay," she said after a long silence, "where else would I go?"
I do not blame you for what has transpired. You were doing your duty. As was I... I am as much to blame as you are. And.....I do very much regret calling you a "wench" earlier.
Loskene cracked a small smile. "Name calling was the least of her worries" he thought. I am pleased to hear your decision. As for where you could go...Well...It's possible you could go anywhere you wish...
"Anywhere?" Rayna breathed, smiling for the first time, "I think I'd like to stay aboard for a while, get accustomed to non-Romulans."
Well, if that is what you wish, then I'm certain arrangements could be made. I am sure many people would be pleased to meet you. And I would certainly not mind at all!
"You've already met me," Rayna giggled, then composed herself, "but what do we do now? We can't let you go over there....."
Loskene began to rub his head, as if he was in pain. I'm not sure about that Rayna...At the moment I am feeling unwell...I think there was something about the artificial singularity in your warp drive that made me ill...I do not believe I could survive the trip back to Romulus...Loskene winked.
Rayna gawked at him, a moment ago he seemed perfectly fine. She was just about to give a snappy reply when she caught him winking at her. "Oh I quite agree," she said, deadpan, "we should get you to sickbay. What good will a dead commodore do the sector commander? It'd be a waste of his time to prosecute a dead man."
Loskene continued. I think I should head down to sickbay. Perhaps the doctor can do something for it.
Loskene ordered the turbolift to head to sickbay... A few minutes later they both exited the turbolift and shortly after entered sickbay.
Loskene approached T'Val
Loskene: Doctor... I have a favor to ask you... This may be considered a breach of your oath...but I need a virus or something...
T'Val looked up at Loskene questioningly, and saw the Romulan standing beside him. She was about to respond when she noticed there was nothing hostile about the woman, but rather she seemed concerned. "A virus?" she echoed, "for.....?"
Loskene decided not to humor the doctor. He knew that she would no doubt find his hints strange and unfunny.
Loskene: I have no intention of going aboard that ship, doctor. I am planning to fool the Sector Commander into thinking that I have a virus. Loskene didn't say anything more, because he could tell that she was beginning to understand. "So, perhaps we could "overlook" medical ethics for the time being.
T'Val raised an eyebrow at him. "I doubt that I will have to make you look ill," she said, "have you looked in a mirror lately?" Yet she reached for a hypospray and motioned for him to sit on a biobed. "Give me a moment," she continued, "I have a few viruses in culture, I will harvest a few."
Several minutes later, she returned with a loaded virus. "If you are lucky, you will also form an immune response to this, so you will not get sick of this again." She pressed the hypospray against his throat. "You should begin to feel ill shortly," she explained.
Loskene began to speak
"Hm...Funny, I don't feel anyth-
Loskene suddenly began to feel extremely ill. His head began to ache and his legs began to feel numb.
"Doctor...This is quite effective." Now if you'll excuse me, Rayna and I must get to the bridge.
Rayna exchanged gazes with the Vulcan doctor, and smiled. "For some reason, I doubt you will get as far as the sickbay doors," she said, then looked at T'Val. "Am I correct?"
T'Val nodded. "She is correct commodore, it would be best if you remained here...though you are welcome to try." She rolled her eyes and muttered "commanding officers" as she walked away.
Loskene began to move, hoping the doctor would be wrong.... Unfortunately it was all too true. He began to collapse. Rayna caught him as he fell.
"Thanks for that" Loskene said.
Loskene went up to a com panel and communicated with the bridge.
"Loskene to bridge. Mr. Matthews, inform the Romulans to make a scan of our sickbay. And inform them that Rayna wishes to be granted asylum. Tell them that any complaints they have can be brought to the attention of the Federation."
Matthews complied. Several minutes later, Matthews spoke to Loskene.
Matthews: Well sir, they bought it...I don't know how, but we did it. They are cloaking and heading back. They have informed us to leave Romulan space this instant.
Loskene: I'd be more then happy to do so number one.
Matthews: Understood sir, we will be underway at once.
Commodore Loskene sat back but jolted up when he saw the sickbay doors swoosh open. It was none other then Admiral Loskene.
"Well, you don't look so well. I am very pleased to see that you were able to avert the disaster, Commodore. Your success in this mission has saved countless lives." the Admiral said.
Commodore Loskene looked over at Rayna.
"I cannot take all the credit for it. I'm afraid Rayna has the heavy burden of being responsible for this."
The Admiral scoffed and smiled.
"In any case Commodore, I regret to inform you that I must be leaving now. The rift is beginning to close, and I must get back to my ship."
"It was a pleasure Admiral... It is good to know that I will age well."
"The pleasure was all mine Commodore. Safe journey. Farewell"
The Admiral was then consumed by a transporter beam, and quickly disappeared.
