(JP between Matt and Rin)
[Rins Quarters]
Matt arrived at Rins quarters and tapped the chime, which rang inside. He stood there several minutes, tapping the chime a second time. Finally the door opened allowing him entrance.
She looked up from where she sat at the desk and motioned to the couch. “Please, sit.” her voice empty, her gaze …. blank.
Matt was feeling mad, really mad in fact, but when he saw Rin's face that all disappeared and he was only concerned.
"Rin what's wrong?" Matt asked.
“I just got a communiqué from the orphanage back on Betazed Matt.” She motioned to the console and monitor, which she turned towards him. The image on it was a couple, a betazoid and a trill. Rin didn't say anything, just lowered her gaze to stare at her hands.
As Matt looked at the picture it hit him who it must of been. Rin had told him so very little of her past, but he knew very little about it.
"Those are your parents aren't they?" Matt asked looking at Rin.
Rin nodded “Yes Matt, well at least they claim to be. And ….. They want to … come here.. Aboard the Jefferson.” She swallowed and looked up at him. The pain and confusion on her face evident.
"Here, how did they find out that you were here in the first place," Matt asked not really expecting an answer. "Rin, do you want to see them, I know that this is painful for you, but what ever you choose I will stand behind you."
Rin shook her head. “I don’t know if I want them to come or how they found me.” She stood and began pacing. “I don’t know, I just can’t believe after all this time that they are real.”
Matt looked at Rin and saw that this was causing her more panic than anything. Matt couldn't really understand a life without family. His family was very close, but her current state, made him realize how lucky he really was.
"Look Rin, I know this hard, but I would meet them," Matt said knowing that if these were her parents it would just be for the best.
“Are you sure. I don’t even know if the CO will let them come visit.” Rin continued, stopping to stare out the window at the starfield beyond. She now wished she hadn’t had Billi give her the suppressants, but it was too late to do anything about that.
"I know that he will understand Rin, we are not that deep into our mission and if these people's ship can maintain course I see no problem with it," Matt said knowing that they would be heading towards some dangerous regions of space.
With the current issues with the XO she wasn’t sure how to approach her, knowing she would have to go through her to ask for permission anyway. “How am I going to do this Matt. I can’t go to … her.” Her voice trailed off as she turned to look at him.
"You don't have to, if you don't want to talk to her I will do it,"Matt said," you know that I will do anything for you."
Rin shook her head. “Matt I am supposed to be an Ambassador, I have to be the one to face her.” she frowned as she moved to his side. “I have to do this for me.”
Matt looked at her and felt the fire from her again. He knew that she was still scared, but she would still face the person who caused her so much uncertainty.
"Rin, you are an Ambassador and if you want to do this I'm behind you, but please let me be there for you," Matt said feeling overly protective of her at the moment.
“Do you think she’ll even want to talk to us?” Rin asked, her eyes meeting his. They didn’t need her abilities to know how each other felt, this was evidence of that. “Tomorrow, I will go to her. Tonight I just need to think about everything that has happened.”
Facing her parents, scared her more than facing the XO. Something in the back of her mind nagged her, but she couldn’t place it so shook it off. “Tonight I just want to be with you.”
Matt felt so proud at Rin's words, he thought that he was actually beaming with pride. Matt suddenly felt all alone as his mind once again couldn't contact Rin.
He would still have to talk to her about this, but right now he was happy to have her in his arms.
"You know I think Grace is a forgiving person," Matt smiled.
“I hope so or I could find myself heading home, wherever that is.” she said as she allowed herself to be held by him. She knew at least he should head back to the party but was reluctant to even mention it.
"Rin do you want to stay here with me or return to the party?" Matt asked torn between either decision.
“We both belong at the party, required I would bet to be there.” She said as she nuzzled her cheek against his shoulder letting him hold her close.
Matt loved the closeness that they were sharing, but he agreed. If they returned to the party it would fix some burn bridges.
"Okay lets go," Matt said as he softly kissed her lips and headed towards the party once again.

Leo walked through the corridor heading towards the gym. He knew that most of the senior officers were at a dinner and most of the crew were sleeping or eating so he thought that no one was there. He was wrong. When he walked in he saw that another Marine was there. He stopped and watched her on the shooting range. She was a good shot. On closer view he saw that it was staff sergeant Rebeck.
He walked up behind her and watched the target screen above her head. Nintyfive out of a hundred, not bad, he thought.
He coughed purposly and she turned quickly. From the expression on her face he saw that she was mad that he had sneaked up on her, but she saw the officer pip on his collar and she saluted. He saluted back.
"Sir. I didn't know you were behind me sir." She said quickly.
He smiled and said. " You don't have to call me 'sir' off duty Sargent. Just call me, well, just call me by my name, Potter or Leo. Your pick." She smiled.
"Leo it is then. You can call me Michelle. I didn't know anyone would be in here at this time." She said.
Leo laughed. "What a Coincidence, so did I. I like to work out alone."
They continued to talk for a couple of hours untill Leo checked the time on the wall clock. It read 2300 hours. His hift started at 0900.
He looked back at Michelle, well it looks like we completely lost track of time and what we even came here for. I've got a couple hours untill i have to go on duty."
She looked at the clock,"Yeah I've got to go too." She stood up and put her rifle back in the rack. Leo watched her go and admired her nice curves.
Leo walked to the door and called back, "Michelle would you like to have dinner with me smetime?"
She turned back and smiled beautifully.
"Sure, how bout tommorow night, my quaters or yours?"
"Yours, I'll be there at 2100 hours."She smiled and nodded. Leo walked out feeling really pleased with himself. He walked back top his quaters and walked past a door and Matt reynolds and the ammbassdor walked out with slight smiles. He quickly saluted Matt and relized that they were off duty and he didn't have to salute.
<tag Matt>
He looked at his hand by his head and lowered it.
" Sorry sir, I frogot that you don't like me saluting sir."
<tag Matt>
"I've got to go sir, my shift starts in 11 hours and I've got to do some stuff. I'll see you tommorow Sir."

OOC: Sorry for my lack of posting. I thought I'd posted one message but I didn't. Realy realy sorry. Things are hectic here even though I have vacation.
--Sam his quarterer's at the dinner party-- Everything went as planned the food was great. The bottle of wine from Cmdr. Johnson was the icing on the cake. Sam came in conversation with Lt. Eviston about the upcoming mission. "So you're saying that the Tellarian lizard has quite some differences compared to other lizards?" Sam said and looked surprised. "Yes the skeleton for example is mostly the same but the trace minerals are different. On earth and other planets they contain also large amounts of sodium. This lizards skeleton contains almost no sodium, but then it contains more chromium." Lt. Eviston said. Sam looked even more surprised. "That's odd. Maybe we should meet tomorrow with my wife and Cmdr. Mitchell to talk about this." Sam suggested?
<TAG: Eviston>
"I must confess I haven't had the time to research the animal his behavior. I'll do it tomorrow." Sam replied "Cmdr. Mitchel and Julliet. Lt. Eviston and I were wondering if you 2 could join us tomorrow to research the animal. Julliet you know why, you're better in Xenomedicin that me. Cmdr. Mitchell I think I need the opinion of a second counselor. So what do you say?"
<TAG: Mitchell>
--After the party-- Sam and Julliet had cleaned the room and were heading for bed. "Nice party don't you think?" Julliet asked. "You're right." Sam replied "And these people are also good people." "We should get to bed." Julliet responded "It is going to be a long day tomorrow." With that Sam and Julliet undressed and laid down in bed.
OOC: I'll post the beginning of the research tomorrow so I can think about it a bit more. Again sorry for my lack of posting. As I said things are hectic, since I'm preparing for my internship in internal medicine.

Billi remained in sickbay for most of the rest of the party. Reappearing only at the end and disappearing just as quickly after responding to Cmdr. K'Vada.
She headed back to her quarters and silence. The night had been way too exciting for her as it was. Whatever was going on between Matt and Rin and the new XO, she wasn’t sure, even as the doctor she wanted to know that one.

"It would be my pleasure. What Billi has discovered so far is very interesting." Grace answered.
Grace's attention was slightly averted as Matt and Rin entered the room once again. Grace's senses were being bombarded by different emotions simultaneously. For Grace it was very disconcerting. From Rin, Grace sensed apprehension, fear, uncertainty and a small amount of anger. From Matt, Grace sensed mostly anger and concern, concern for Rin. From both of them, Grace sensed love, which was the strongest of all. This actually made Grace smile, "Nothing like a little love to make things better" Grace thought.
Grace turned to her hosts "I must make my apologies. It seems to have been a long day. A lot of upheaval today. I think I will retire to my quarters. I thank you for a lovely evening and look forward to working together tomorrow." Grace turned to Zhuk "No need to see me back to my quarters, Zhuk. You stay and enjoy the rest of the. evening. Say good night to Theel'zhiin for me."
That said, Grace left and went to her quarters, wondering as she prepared for bed, what tomorrow would bring on her new home!

Josh sat at the table, eating slowly and getting a feel for the crew. As the party was closing down, he went up to his hosts and said, "Thank you for the invitation, the food was good."
He left and went to his quarters. He took a quick shower and went to bed.
The computer woke him up in the morning and he put on a fresh uniform. He then went to the galley and ate a filling breakfast. When he was finished, he went to the bridge and made sure everything was in order. Except for a minor shield calibration, everything was fine. he recalibrated the shields and waited for the rest of the alpha shift to arrive.

OOC: This is a very long post. If you don't want to read all the sap just stop at the half way point. The rest is Matt/Rin stuff.
Scene: Outside Rin's quarters, Deck 7, USS JEFFERSON
At that very moment Matt couldn't be prouder of Rin. She was going to fight her fears and there wasn't harder to do. Matt was glad that they would go back to the party, but he knew that he might still be mad at Grace. His thought were interrupted when he noticed Leo saluating him.
"What did I tell you about that," Matt said smiling at the marine.
He looked at his hand by his head and lowered it." Sorry sir, I forgot that you don't like me saluting sir."
"Your older than me it feels wierd," Matt said laughing now," by the way this is Ambassador Rin Damis, my date."
Rins cheeks flushed and she lowered her gaze, nodding to the officer who had greeted Matt.
Matt knew that Rin would be blushing by now, but he liked people knowing that they were a couple.
"I've got to go sir, my shift starts in 11 hours and I've got to do some stuff. I'll see you tommorow Sir."
"No problem Mr. Potter," Matt said," and before I forget Lt. Hope wants to talk to you about your Marine barracks. She was put in charge of there development. You will find her in the Transporter Room."
"Thank you sir, I'll go and talk to her on my way to my quaters" Leo wathched them.
Matt looked at Rin again and saw that her face was a bit pinker than usual, but that was okay. He loved her anways.
"Ready to go?" Matt asked.
“Yes Matt.” she said before turning to Leo. “Nice to meet you Sir.” she said quietly before the three parted ways.
" And you Ambassodor Damis, I'll see you on the bridge tommorow Commander." He nodded to Matt. And continued on toward the Transporter room." Uhh, sir, Which transporter room?"
"Transporter Room 1," Matt said and laughed.
He nodded and continued on.
Matt took Rin's hand and walked across a couple of doors and rejoined the party.
---------------------
Scene: K'Vada's Quarters, Deck 7, USS JEFFERSON
When they both entered Matt noticed that they were talking abou the creatures that they were going to go find. Matt thought it wierd that a Soverign would need to find a lizard, but he wasn't complaning. Matt immedialety looked at Grace, but tried hard to ignore her. Matt took Rin's hand and like a gentleman waited till she sat down.
"Welcome back Commander, Ambassador," Colonel Hrisvalar said.
Rin nodded to the Colonel and took the seat Matt had offered. “Thank you Matt.” She said before turning to the Colonel and nodding politely. She hated returning the way she did but with everything that had happened it could not be helped.
Matt also nodded politely, but didn't say anything. He couldn't help but look at Grace and knew that she was reading his emotions. It was a bit unsettleling, but he would have to get used to it.
A few more minutes passed and then Grace announced that she was leaving the dinner. This surprised Matt, but he kept quiet. He knew that Rin would calm down a bit once she left.
Rin watched as Grace left the dinner and let out a sigh. Could the night get any worse, she had to wonder wanting to shrink into a little ball and hide.
Matt didn't have to have a telepathic link with Rin to know that she was tense and worried about today's events. He tugged at her to get her attention and when he did he whispered to her.
"We can go back to your quarters and just talk if you want."
Rin shook her head. “Wait till dinner is over.” she whispered back. She felt that one mistake that evening was more than enough. She had to sit through the rest of the meal, which she hadn’t even touched.
Rin gave Matt a small smile. “Let’s eat something or try, for our hosts sake.” she whispered back.
"Do you even know what that is?" Matt asked not sure himself. He thought it might be stake, but the taste was different.
Rin shook her head. "Does it matter what it is, consider it a matter of state and eat it anyway." She grinned and elbowed him.
"Ouch that hurt," Matt smiled back as he took another bite of the meat. It defantely was not stake."Plus I have attened state dinners, it was my first mission here and I got some goo all over me."
Rin laughed. "You'll have to tell me more later." She wasn't going to tell him about her first state dinner.
That was how they spent most of the time at the dinner. Eating slowly and saying some remarks that they would only hear. It had gotten Alex very irriated, he always wanted to be in the fun. After about another hour of talking and eating the dinner ended.
"Ready to go," Matt said as he finished his round of thank you's and goodbye's.
Rin finished eating and nodded. "Yes, now I am. Thank you." She was going to be glad to be away from the rest of the senior staff for the night, the next day would have enough issues itself.
"Okay, come on lets go," Matt said as he took her hand and led her to her quarters. He was glad that she had smiled that night, but he also knew that it was very taxing on her.
------------------
Scene: Rin's quarters, Deck 7, USS JEFFERSON
Matt let Rin' input her code and then followed her inside her quarters. The lights had been left on and Matt could see the computer blink the message that had been read hours ago.
"I bet your glad to get away from that," Matt said smiling as he came up behind Rin and just holding her.
Rin allowed her body to rest against Matt's. She let out a deep sigh as she glanced at the console. “You have no idea. I am so scared about that, and about everything else going on here.” she was worried about meeting her parents for the first time in her life. Something had been nagging at her all evening but she brushed it off considering everything else going on.
"I know your scared, I don't know how your handleing it," Matt said as he started to rock Rin in his arms. He knew that she was worried about her parents and there possible first meeting, but Matt felt that if Rin got to know about her past it would make her happy. "You know that you don't have to think about that now."
Rin rested her head against his shoulder. “I don’t know anymore, not having my abilities is a plus I think. Even if I can’t tell if they were lying or what.” She spoke, staring off into space. Deep in thought.
She hadn't told him that she had suppressed her abilities, but Matt had guess as much long ago. Yet this time he wasn't as mad as before. Rin felt that her ablities were giving her some problems, so Matt would stand by her decesion. "Do you know what I'm thinking of right now?" Matt said as he kissed her neck. He of course would not take there relationship to another level, but he knew the remark would assure him the requested reaction.
Rin turned around in his arms, and looked into his eyes. “I don’t have to be empathic to know what you are thinking.” She leaned in and kissed him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Well that wasn't the intended reaction, but he thought he liked it better. He returned her kisses and only stopped to take a breath of air. "I think I like that even better," Matt said as he picked her up and led her to the couch. Where he continued kissing her. Rin, who usually worried about what others thought, no longer cared, letting herself be picked up and carried to the couch, their lips locked in a long passionate kiss.
Matt was enjoying himself immensly, but he stopped kissing Rin and just looked at her."Rin I think we have to stop, if we continue I don't think I will be able to stop," Matt said as he got off of her and sat on the couch.
“Please don’t …” she whispered as she pulled him to his feet and led him into her bedroom.
OOC: This was JP between myself and Rin and the responses in Lime Green are from Leo Potter.

.:Dinner Party; Sam K'Vada's Quarters:.
The food was quite good. Sam and his wife had outdone themselves, even with the items that Zhukarak had no idea of what they were. The atmosphere, Zhuk noted, was quite different. He didn't need to be a telepath, much less an empath, to feel some of the tensions that were going around with two of his officers and Ambassador Damis.
Observation was something Zhukarak had prided himself in, ever since his days in the Imperial Guard. An observant soldier was one that stayed alive, and it had served him well once he had become a Company Commander. These same abilities had served him as First Officer on the Nevada, and they were now serving him well here.
Zhukarak continued eating and observing. The young ambassador seemed quite aprehensive at times when Grace was making a comment or even shot a glance towards ger direction. Matt, his Ops officer, showed the very opposite as if he was ready to pounce. It was obvious that he was protecting someone he had gotten close to.
Soon, the dinner party had come to a close. Zhuk didn't enter much into any of the conversations. There had been talk of the lizard, of which Starfleet did not have much data yet. Matt and Rin had already excused themselves, along with the doctor and gRace as well. Zhuk finally excused himself as well. While walking towards his quarters, he knew was going to have to call a meeting the next day, and he knew exactly the root of his topic.
.:The Next Day : Observation Lounge : Senior Staff Meeting:.
"I have called for this meeting as I need to clear up some ground rules of standard practice as it pertains to a few of our crewmebers and their special abilities...namely telepathy and empathy. For those that have telepathic abilities, probing one's mind without explicit permission is against Starfleet regulations. That means no projecting of one's thoughts or trying to see what one is thinking, unless you are ordered to when it pertains to the mission. Now if you are in the privacy of one another, as I said if there is explicit permission then fine, but only when off duty."
Everyone took a moment to give one another a startled look, wondering where this was coming from. A few had a good notion as they remembered last night's dinner party.
"Empaths on the other hand do not project thoughts or invade one's mind. They can feel or sense one's emotions as it is part of their physiology. I have neither of these abilities, but I guarantee you that I can sense the problems that are happening with my senior staff. Now, we are all adults, we are Ambassadors, and Starfleet Officers representing a great Federation. We need to act like it if we are to find this Tellarian lizard in what might be Orion Syndicate space."
Just then Zhuk's comm badge beeped, it was Lt Landers who was manning the conn.
=/\= Sir, we are approaching 74 Orionis. =/\=
"Understood, we're on our way."
Zhuk turned his attention back to his staff. His point was well received.
"We have work to do. We need to find an Orion Merchant or Trading vessel out there. Let's get to our stations and not waste anymore valuable time."

Grace looked amazed. "I was born in the 20th century as well, I was abducted from early in the 21st Century, just after a celebration in our backyard. Where on Earth did your grandfather live? I had no idea that a non-human was living there during that time."
"Yes," said Alex, "I think there were a few El Aurians on Earth at that time. He lived in San Francisco."

[Observation Lounge : Senior Staff Meeting]
Billi listened to the Colonel without saying anything and understood what he was saying. She was glad she wasn’t telepathic even more now. Maybe she shouldn’t have been so hard on Rin for wanting to block her abilities. This meeting gave her some insight into what she had to have been feeling. She would have to contact Rin once she was back in sickbay, and had a free moment. Just to talk, if nothing else.
She let out a sigh of relief when the Colonel received the comm and dismissed the meeting. Now she could go hide in the bowels of the ship where she was most comfortable.
Billi left the lounge after nodding to the rest of the staff and headed towards sickbay. There were a few things she had to do before contacting Rin, which was her first order of business after getting her staff busy with getting ready for what was to come.
------ [Rins Quarters]
Rin sat in her quarters, the image of her parents on the screen of her computer. Staring her in the face. What should she do, about them …. About the new Exec. Life suddenly got way too confusing and she wasn’t happy with the way things were going.
She knew she had to go to sickbay for another dose of blockers but almost didn’t want to. Maybe she would need her abilities when dealing with her parents, but maybe she didn’t want to know what they were thinking or feeling.
Eventually she stood up and made her way from her quarters, heading for sickbay. She had to talk to someone, but who ……

Grace and Alex conversed on the aspects of other beings living on Earth during the twenty-first century. Since Grace had no memory of her life then it was difficult to remember if she had ever seen other beings then. Jos and Leo had seemed to be enjoying the conversation, interjecting speculations now and then.
Finally, Grace had begun to feel quite tired and beg the forgiveness of her hosts and the guests and made her way to her quarters.
Next day in the Observations Lounge during the meeting:
Grace knew Zhuk had noticed the tension at the dinner party and she understood why he felt the need to quote Star Fleet regulations, even to her.
As they senior staff began to file out of the Observation Lounge, Grace and Alex continued their conversation about Earth's past.
"Commander, I would love an opportunity to speak to your Grandfather. It would give me a chance to get someone's first hand experience on Earth's twenty-first century. I have of course read about it but I still can't recall anything" Grace said.
Grace took her seat next to Zhuk, as he directed a channel to be opened to 74 Orionis.

"Greetings! I am Colonel Zhukarak Hrisvalar of the Starship USS Jefferson. I am its commanding officer. With whom do I have the pleasure?"
/*/ I am Fellarus, the Prime Ministers Head of State here on 74 Orionis. How can we be of assistance to you? \*\
"We are in search of what is called a Tellarian lizard, more precisely its origin. Perhaps you may have encountered an Orion merchant vessel here recently, as they are known to trade and sell these?"
/*/ Ah, yes. You are in luck. One of those vessels just departed from here a mere two days ago, although I haven't seen one of those lizards that you mention. They were headed to Yridia. I'm sure that if you hurry, you could possibly catch them there while they are trading. They tend to orbit for about three to four days. I must warn you, however, these Orions appeared to be coming down with some sort of an affliction. They appeared to becoming ill, but had no medicine for it. \*\
Zhukarak looked from the viewscreen to Grace who simply raised her eyebrows and gave a slight shrug. He turned his attention back to Fellarus.
"We thank you kindly for this information. We shall be on our way."
/*/ Safe Journeys! \*\
Zhuk indicated to Matt to cut the viewscreen, and instructed Alexander to set course for Yridia.
"Grace, what do you make of this illness?"
"I don't know. Perhaps they caught something from one of the many planets they visited and ran out of the proper antibiotics."
"Have Dr. Eviston look into the Orions immune system. Maybe we can give them a hand when we reach them."
"Sounds like a good idea. I've been meaning to see her anyways. I'll go see her right away."
Grace rose from her seat to head on down to sickbay.

Billi and Rin talked for a while regarding her feelings towards meeting her parents as well as everything else going on with the crew. The arrival of the new members and how they were integrating into the staff. This chat lasted about an hour and Rin eventually left to go back to her quarters.
Unfortunately Rin, upon arriving at her quarters found another communiqué from her Betazed, this time from the Ambassadorial council itself. They wanted her to leave the Jefferson and come back to Betazed immediately.
She had no idea what it was about or why they would order her to leave her post, especially on something as important as this mission but she found she had no viable excuse and agreed to appear before them.
Rin made the necessary arrangements and contacted the Colonel, explaining to him the situation and that she could not disobey an order of the council. She’d also been told that a shuttle would be meeting with the Jefferson within the hour and she was to be on it.
[An hour later]
Rin watched as the Jefferson became smaller in the view screen, the shuttle sent to meet her heading back to her homeworld. There had been no discussion between her and the pilot of the shuttle. Just a PADD passed to her, with her orders. The trip home was going to be a long, silent one.

[Sickbay, CMOs Office]
Billi was finishing up the reports from the last shift when she got a hurried communiqué from Rin, saying goodbye and no explanation. Tried as she might she was unable to get any answer or reason for the Ambassadors hurried departure.
The shift was not ending the way she had hoped, more problems kept popping up and Billi was wondering what sort of mission they would encounter to add to the uneasy feeling already forming in her gut.
She propped her feet up and sipped the cup of tepid tea which she had gotten herself at least an hour before. She was debating on heading for the bridge when she saw the new Exec. Walked into sickbay and headed for her office.
Billi stood and left her office, meeting the Commander half way through sickbay. “Hello Commander is there something I can do for you?” she asked while motioning for them to continue into her office. She could see this was not a social visit.

Jeff found himself confused. He had jsut approved a shuttle for Ambasitor Rin, but she did know much herself. the Aldrin had checked out fine, and as far as Jeff was concernnerd, that was that. "Bloody mysterys" he muttered under his breath.he shut down the shutllebay systems and turned to the door. Only it wouldn't open. He tried the manual release. It was pin locked in place. The only time that could happen was dring a lockout.butif there was a lockout, he would have known, not to mention all of the alert lights would be flashing.
"Pudlo to mrak" he tried his combadge. "Pudlo to anyone." no answer.
Damn.
the panel in the control room, perhaps... he tried it, and the command auhoriztion popped up, just like normal.
"Thank god..." Jeff said as he typed in his command code. The prompt confirmed his authorization, then reveakled the controls. The only buttons were the toggle mode switches. everything else was dark. He tried them, but no matter what mode he was in, the panels were all dark. He slumped into the operator's chair and searched for a tool. He only had an omni toll on him, that would have to do.
OOC: this doesn't neccicarally mean the entire ship is down, but I'm trapped.

"Dr. Eviston, the Colonal has just been in contact with the Prime Minister of 74 Orionis. The Prime Minister reported that an Orion ship had just left orbit two days ago and were headed for a planet called Yridia. The Prime Minister also indicated that the Orion's seemed ill. The Colonal suggested that you research the Orion's immune system. Perhaps we would be able to offer them assistance with their illness. What do you think, Doctor?"

Grace left sickbay and the Doctor to her research. Grace had decided that she would be more of a hinderance than a help.
So Grace decided to explore the Jefferson. It was a grand ship so like the Nevada, in many ways. Grace still wasn't as comfortable on the Jefferson yet, but that was due to not knowing all of the crew, which was normal procedure for her.
As Grace continued her walk, she began to hear some very loud taps, bangs really. She followed the noise to the shuttlebay. Grace could tell the loud bangs were coming from inside the shuttlebay. Grace tried the door, it would not open. She attempted to access the control panel, when she finally pried it open she could hear the banging even louder. Grace had spent all of her time in Star Fleet as a Counselor, she knew fery little about the workings of the ship. It didn't take her long to figure out that she needed to get proper personnel up here to fix it. Grace touched her comm badge
=^=Commander Mitchell to Commander Pudlo=^=
No answer. "Okay. Think girl!" Grace told herself. "I know, anyone in Engineering."
=^=Commander Mitchell to Engineering=^=
=^=Lieutenant Gerry Mrak, here, Commander. How may I help you?=^=
=^=Lieutenant Mrak, there appears to be someone stuck in the shuttlebay and from the sounds of it they are trying to hit their way out. Please get someone here immediately to get this person out.=^=
=On my way, Sir! Mrak out=^=
Grace leaned against the bulkhead and tought "Did he just call me sir! Well, I think I need to correct that to something else. I'm not much of a sir."
Lieutenant Mrak arrived and immediately got to work, the doors finally opened and out walks Commander Pudlo.

Next day at the briefing, Zhukarak took a moment to remind them all of Starfleet telepathy protocols. For a moment, Alex wondered why the Colonel would insult his senior staff by lecturing them all on basic protocol, but then he remembered all the telepaths they suddenly had, and the tensions that had been evident last night. Either way, it didn't really pertain to him, so he sat through it politely.
When the briefing was other, Grace once again engaged him in conversation about the 20th Century.
"Commander, I would love an opportunity to speak to your Grandfather. It would give me a chance to get someone's first hand experience on Earth's twenty-first century. I have, of course read about it but I still can't recall anything" Grace said.
"Well, there's only a limited amount I could tell you myself; I'm still getting to know him too, but I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you. He's posted on Starbase Assailant at the moment, but next time we're there, or he's here, I'll introduce you."

.: Captain's Ready Room :.
~Reports, reports, reports!~ Zhukarak tossed the PADD aside. Theel'zhiin kept a respectable distance, knowing of Zhuk's adjutation.
The uneventful journey was taking its toll. Searching for Orions who had information on where to find this Tellarian lizard. Fortunately they had a lead and were on their way. Zhuk hoped that they would catch them before they left again. He had no desire to go 'hunting' for the Orions for the rest of his Starfleet career.
Zhuk needed to do something 'fun' to occupy his time. He needed to relax. He had an idea and tapped his comm badge.
"Lieutenant Potter, would you care to join me for some target practice at the firing range?"
=/\= Why yes sir! =/\=
"Good. I'll meet up with you at the marine deck firing range in five minutes."
The comm badge clicked off. Zhuk took one more look at the PADD's and his terminal to only solidify that he needed to get out of here.
Exiting his Ready Room, he stepped onto the Bridge. A few of his bridge officers looked up at him. Mr. Reynolds was in the command chair as Grace was not present either. He was about to get up when Zhuk motioned for him to stay seated.
"I will be at the firing range on the marine deck for the next hour."
As Zhuk stepped towards the turbolift, he turned to his CTSO.
"Mr. Reo, how about you join me. I'd like to see if Academy shooting standards are still the way I remember them."
"Yes, sir."
Another junior security offcier stepped forward from one of the rear consoles as Josh joined Zhuk for some shooting practice.
Together they reached the firing range where they met up with 3Lt Potter. They each picked out hand phasers and phaser rifles and placed them in their resepective firing lanes. Each one of them prepared their weapons and then began firing at their targets.
The first set of targets were standard targets with a silhoutte of a humanoid shape. All of them had nice shot groups at the center mass of the target, Leo's were slightly tighter than Josh's. That seemed to be the way of the marines.
The next set of targets consisted of small moving drones at the far side of the range. They came in 4 groups of ten, with each group becoming faster their evasive movements.
Zhuk was able to shoot 33 out of the 40 with his phaser rifle. Leo had gotten 30 of them, while Josh shot 25.
"Well sir, I guess the Academy isn't quite up to your standards." Josh proclaimed.
"Marine standards overall are higher, and you have to remember, I've been a marine for a long time now. Shooting has become second nature, even though I didn't do so well today. It just goes to show that practice goes a long way."
They each picked up their gear for cleaning and maintenance and continued to talk about their respective positions and how they could complement each other.

"A pleasure to formally meet you, Mr. Pudlo. I didn't get a chance to talk to you at the dinner party last evening. Did you have a good time there?"
<Tag Jeff>
"I know. Things were a little tense at times, but I hope to rectify that later today when I speak with Ambassador Damis." Grace replied.
"That's why I was in the shuttlebay. Ambassador Damis took a shuttlecraft to Betazoid." Jeff informed Grace.
"Well, then I'll just have to wait to speak with her when she returns. I wasn't aware that she had left. I guess I should propbably go to my office and look over any reports I missed." Grace turned to leave then suddenly remembered "Oh, for the record, Commander and Lieutenant, you can call me Commander, Grace or even mam will do. I don't feel much like a 'sir'." Grace said this with a smile.
Mrak kind of laughed and said "Sorry, mam. I lost my head."
Grace smiled and replied "Think nothing of it Lieutenant. It will take me a little time to get used to not being called Counselor. I find myself starting to answer to that when someone address' Commander K'dava as Counselor. Any help you could give me when that happens will be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, gentlemen, I think this door needs fixing, so I will leave you to it." Grace walked away down the corridor heading for her office.

Grace walked ahead of Billi and sat down in the offered chair, the door to the CMOs office closing behind her. Billi sat down on the edge of the desk and listened to what the new Exec.
"Dr. Eviston, the Colonel has just been in contact with the Prime Minister of 74 Orionis. The Prime Minister reported that an Orion ship had just left orbit two days ago and were headed for a planet called Yridia. The Prime Minister also indicated that the Orion's seemed ill. The Colonel suggested that you research the Orion's immune system. Perhaps we would be able to offer them assistance with their illness. What do you think, Doctor?"
“I can get started on that right away Commander. Is there anything else you need from me?” Billi asked.
The Commander left a short time later and Billi picked up a PADD and began working. She tapped the console on her desk.
=/\= Ensign Peters* please come to my office immediately. =/\=
Soon a medic appeared at the door. “You called for me Ma’am.”
Billi motioned for the young officer to enter and have a seat. “Yes I did Ensign.” She pushed the PADD she’d been working on across the desk. “Want to help me with this?” she asked
The two continued to talk over the information on the PADD and finally the ensign left with orders to begin working on the research in the nearby medical lab.
Billi tapped her combadge =/\= Commander Mitchell, we’ve started our research and I’ll come to the bridge to complete it. =/\=
She closed the link and stood, straightening her jacket as she left her office and sickbay, heading for the bridge.

(Off: *Ensign Peters is going to be an ongoing NPC in sickbay, feel free to use him but please do not kill him)

"Sheilds down to 87%." Said Worf in his deep voice as the ship shook.
"Captain, I do not believe that the alien vessel has enough sheild power to be impervious to a correctly tuned phaser burst. If we tune the phasers to the right frequency, we may be able to disable their sheilds." Said Data.
"Do it." Said Captain Alexander Johnson, rising from the command chair and moving to position himself behind Data's chair.
On the viewscreen he saw the pulse come from the Enterprise and hit the alien vessel's sheilds.
"Their shield are down." Reported Data cooly.
"Disable them, Mr Worf!" Said Johnson.
Phasers streaked the viewscreen and the alien ship exploded.
"What happened?" Said Johnson in surprise.
Data paused for a moment then said, "It is possible that the ore in their cargo hold was destabilized when our phasers hit, it may then have caused a chair reaction that destroyed the ship."
Commander O'Malley got up from the first officer's chair and moved to the tactical station. In his Irish accent he said, "A likely story, it was Worf, ye bumblin' idiot!"
Worf's face contorted with rage. At that moment, O'Malley backhanded him hard across the face.
Worf let out a roar and pulled his arm back to deliver a lethal blow to the first officer.
"Computer, freeze program." Ordered Johnson, and Worf froze, his arm in the air.
"Brian, you never take this seriously. I came down here on my off time to have some fun. Not to watch you pick a fight with one of the greatest officers in Starfleet history."
"I coulda taken him, ye know." Said O'Malley smiling, "Anyway Alex, you can play it on yer own, I've gotta get back te engineering."
"Okay, see you." Said Alex. O'Malley waved as he ordered the exit and left the holodeck.
As the exit vanished, Alex said, "Computer, reset, replace first officer."
With that, Worf and Data returned to their working positions and the bearded form of the then Commander William Riker appeared in the first officer's chair.
"Resume program."

(off mission post for Rin)
[Aboard the shuttle, heading for Betazed ….supposedly]
Rin rested quietly in the back of the shuttle. The true meaning for her sudden departure about to become clear. Her eyes close as she drifted off to sleep. She had no reason to think anything was amiss, or that her shuttle had somehow drifted off course or that the ship they were about to encounter was not as friendly as it looked.
She’d been asleep probably, twenty minutes when the shuttle rocked and a bulkhead in the rear compartment appeared to blow out showering her with debris. She woke quickly as she was showered with the pieces of the bulkhead and struggled to her feet as she called out to the Pilot.
“What’s happening?” she called, working her way forward as the shuttle rocked from side to side. She stopped in the door separating the two areas of the shuttle and stared at what appeared as a Trill Ship firing at them.
What was going on here she thought as she pushed herself into the cockpit and sat down behind the co-pilot. She frowned as the pilot opened a channel to the ship.
=/\= We’re a diplomatic shuttle, carrying an Ambassador to Betazed. Why have you fired upon us? =/\= He asked
The ship ceased firing but the damage had been done. The shuttle was disabled and would not be moving anytime soon. The figure which appeared on the viewscreen wasn’t Trill or Betazoid … but Cardassian.
=/\= This my good man, is an old fashioned kidnapping. =/\= came the response.
That was the last thing the pilot heard as a phaser blast hit him squarely in the chest and he dropped in his seat. Rin was too startled to do much except stutter as the co-pilot turned and aimed the phaser at her.
“I suggest you come peacefully Ambassador.” He said, as the shuttle rocked, a tractor beam from the ship taking hold and pulled it towards the waiting shuttle bay.

Grace was in her office reading reports. "Oh! I left the Nevada for reports, yuck. I wonder what Steve would say. The least he could have done is warn me about all these reports. Give me a good book anyday."
Just then Grace recieved a communication from the Doctor Eviston =/\= Commander Mitchell, we’ve started our research and I’ll come to the bridge to complete it. =/\=
=/\=Acknowledge Doctor. Would you like me to join you?=/\=
