Rin smiled at the Ambassadors praise. “Thank you Sir.” She had fun while sitting at the tactical station even though to her she had not done all that well, it was something she would have to investigate on the holodeck when she had a chance. See if she could learn to shoot better, perhaps.
She laughed lightly as the Ambassador spoke again "You could've warned me, then I would've made myself scarce before she'd arrive here."
Rin took the seat vacated by the Ambassador and shook her head. “But if she had to come looking for you we’d have missed out on the fun.” She knew how close the two were and loved teasing the Ambassador every chance she got.

------ [On the way to Sickbay]
"Sorry,"
Billi laughed as they headed off the bridge, the two not speaking much until they were alone in the lift.
“Sorry for what? Making me come look for you?” They were alone in the lift and she leaned up, kissing his cheek. “It’s ok. I don’t mind having to hunt you up. .. Now the rest of the crew..” her voice drifting off.
<tag Tedak>
------ [In Sickbay]
Billi walked to a small bedside tray near the biobed where Tedak settled himself. "What's your verdict doctor?"
She knew that both the Lt. Col. and the Exec. would be done soon enough for their physicals and wanted to have as much time with Tedak as she could before they did.
She grew silent as she programmed the biobed to get the readings she needed. “The verdict is ..” she spoke as she ran the tricorder over his injured arm. “Is that you aren’t doing your exercises like you are supposed to.” She frowned. “Do I have to find you a partner like I did for Lt. Cmdr. Reynolds?” she chided the Ambassador.
Her eyes twinkled as she spoke, teasing him. She needed more time for herself and would make it by using his arm as an excuse for them to spend it together. He was so busy with the Klingon Ambassador and with helping Rin learn the ropes that their time was limited and by the time they both had time off she was usually sleeping before her head hit the pillow.
She had just finished with the basics of his physical when the ship shook (the second jolt in Matts post), she grabbed the biobed to steady herself. “What the HELL is going on now?” she exclaimed.
<tag Tedak>
As she straightened up the Lt. Cols voice came over the comm.
=/\= ALL STATIONS REPORT! =/\=
“I wonder what happened Tedak?” she said as he slipped off of the biobed.
<tag Tedak>
She turned as the door to sickbay slid opened and two crewmen entered, one supporting the other. She tapped her combadge as she moved in their direction to lead them to one of the biobeds. The physicals would have to wait.
=/\= What’s going on? I’ve got injured coming in from that little shake. =/\=

Jeff swiveled around in his chair and faced the captain. "It seems we've taken damage to the the energy relays- they're losing containment. We don't have much power flowing to anything right now."
"so did we loose power?" Somebody asked just a s the main lights shut off and the emergency ones came on.
"No, we still have the power, we just can't get it anywhere without it bleeding out of well, imagine somebody cutting all the wires. that's what happened."
"How could this happen Mr. Pudlo?" Zhuk asked.
"I can think of a few options- harmonic interference with the field- those are triple shielded, so I don't think that's it, but the only other way is if somebody had changed the field settings. That is only done by authorized maitainace personell or by order of Me. and I didn't give that order."
------------------- Meanwhile in engineering a man in a maintenance uniform ran over to check on a delicate piece of equipment in engineering. Upon seeing the damage, he smiled.

"FULL STOP! ALL STATIONS REPORT!"
"It seems we've taken damage to the energy relays- they're losing containment. We don't have much power flowing to anything right now."
"Colonel that isn't the only problem that we have," Matt said as he realized that their was many more problems than he first realized.
"What kind of problems?" Colonel Hrisvalar asked.
"Other than the energy relays, sensors show stress on the deflector dish, and I'm pretty sure that we can no longer maintain maximum speed," Matt said as somberly. It seemed as more they looked the worst the news got.
<Zhuk/Jeff>
=/\= What’s going on? I’ve got injured coming in from that little shake. =/\=
=^=Doctor Eviston, we are currently accessing the damage, once we find out more, I will relay the information=^=
It surprised Matt that he hadn't thought of the possibility of injured crewman. The jolts to ship were pretty strong, and it could easily injure someone.
=^=Doctor Eviston, about how many injured are there? Are there any serious injuries?=^=
<Tag Billi>
"Ambassador Damis were any of the tactical systems affected by the jolts?" Matt asked hoping that Rin didn't have any bad news.
<Tag Rin>
After the initial reports were given a small calm came over the bridge. It gave everyone on the bridge time to think of what was happening and try to offer some solutions. This period of calm also gave Matt the opportunity to contact his son.
=^=Matt to Caleb=^=
No response
=^=Matt to Caleb!=^=
Still no response. Matt started to freak out, why wouldn't Caleb answer him. He quickly checked the computer sensors and saw that Caleb was in their quarters.
=^=Matt to Caleb!!=^=
=^=What, Matt why did you wake me up?=^= a groggy Caleb responded.
~Wake up, did he just say wake up?~ Matt noticed that some people on the bridge were currently looking at him, but he didn't care. He needed to know that his son was safe and sound.
=^=Sorry about that Caleb, I just needed to know that you were fine=^=
=^=Matt you worry way to much=^= Caleb said laughing a bit.
The conversation ended with Caleb laughing at Matt's over protectiveness, but to Matt it didn't matter. Almost as soon as he started to relax he felt the familiar presence in his mind.
~He says I worry too much~ Matt said looking over at Rin where she was currently working.

=^=Doctor Eviston, about how many injured are there? Are there any serious injuries?=^=
=/\= Half a dozen Lt. Cmdr. Nothing major, bumps and bruises mainly.=/\=
She closed the comm as she picked up the medical tricorder and started to care for the few injured which had wandered into sickbay.
-------------- [Bridge]
"Ambassador Damis were any of the tactical systems affected by the jolts?" Matt asked, turning towards Rin who was sitting at tactical.
She ran her hands over the console and bit her lip. She hoped the crash course that Ambassador Tedak had given her would pay off.
“As far as I can tell Sir, nothing major. There are a few sensor spikes and energy fluctuations but I think I can handle them from here.” She replied as she checked the readout.
~~Lets hope that what Ambassador Tedak taught me is right~~
She thought, her thoughts reaching Matt. She was not a tactical officer by no means but knew that she could not show any weakness and had to rely on her memory and what she’d been taught.
~~Remind me to take some extra courses in tactical training Matt~~
She continued.
As she worked she listened to Matt and Caleb. She could feel the worry in both their voices and feel Matts so close as if tangible.
Rin smiled as she felt Matts thoughts.
~~ He says I worry too much ~~
She shook her head. ~~ You do Matt, you do. But it’s ok ~~ she spoke in his head before lowing her head to the task at hand, muttering as the readings fluctuate again.

"Get some engineering teams on that deflector dish. We can't chance moving again until we know that dish is operational." Zhuk was getting worried about being stranded as they were in the nebulas path.
"How long before that nebula envelopes us, Mr Reynolds.?"
Matt was at the science station calculating its speed before he replied. "Approximately 9 hours and 32 minutes, sir."
At least they had some time to see about repairs to their ailing engines and the deflector dish.
Commander Matthew arrived a bit confused and wanted to know why the Jefferson had stopped.
"We have no power to the engines for the moment. Mr. Pudlo is investigating, and then we'll have to ensure the deflector dish is operational as well since it was jarred with the rest of the ship." Zhuk felt like...what was the human term...a...a...a sitting duck!
"Ambassadors, are we still alone out here?" Zhuk was inquiring to make sure no one was out there trying to get a jump on them. He didn't know what to make of the problems to his engines. Was it just mechanical failure? Or was there more to it as Mr. Pudlo was hinting? Zhuk couldn't be sure, but he needed to be vigilant.

“The verdict is ..” she spoke as she ran the tricorder over his injured arm. “Is that you aren’t doing your exercises like you are supposed to.” She frowned. “Do I have to find you a partner like I did for Lt. Cmdr. Reynolds?”
"Oh would you?" The Romulan replied, almost playfully, "doing it alone is so dull. I really wish I had a partner to do them with." He knew exactly who she had assigned to Matt, it was pretty obvious if you were anywhere near him.
She had just finished with the basics of his physical when the ship shook (the second jolt in Matts post), she grabbed the biobed to steady herself. “What the HELL is going on now?” she exclaimed.
Tedak grabbed the edges of the bed, so that he wouldn't fall off. Once the jolting was over, he sat up and cast a concerned look at Billi. "I don't know," he answered, "but I am certain it's nothing the bridge can't handle right now." He watched as she listened to the authorative voice that suddenly came over the intercom, demanding status reports.
“I wonder what happened Tedak?” she said as he slipped off of the biobed.
"Either we're under attack, or we collided with something," the Romulan said, looking thoughtful. Just at that moment the first injured came walking in. "Would you require assistance?" he querried, "otherwise I am going back to the bridge to see what is going on and if I am needed there."

[Bridge]
Rin was shaking on the inside, but luckily her training kicked in and she kept a cool head as her hands moved over the console. She didn’t know tactical all that well, the crash course she’d just had barely enough to teach her much of anything.
She knew better than to ask to be replaced by someone more experienced because right now she was the one in the seat, and everyone else was busy. The Lt. Cols. voice breaking through her uneasiness.
"Ambassadors, are we still alone out here?"
She closed her eyes briefly and opened them, allowing her senses to reach out through out the ship, listening and feeling for anything out of place. This was something she’d kept herself from doing for so long and for good reason.
Rin looked up at the Lt. Col. “Sir, I’m not sensing anything or anyone other than the crew.” She lowered her head and concentrated on the console in front of her as he spoke another order.
"Keep alert people. I want all stations monitored at all times."
-------------- [Sickbay]
"Oh would you?" The Romulan replied, almost playfully, "doing it alone is so dull. I really wish I had a partner to do them with."
Billi laughed at his attitude. “Oh really now Ambassador, who might you want for a partner?” She finished the exam and put the tricorder down. “How about I help you with the exercises? To make sure you do them.” She winked at him.
After the ship stopped shaking and Billi had regained her feet Tedak asked. "Would you require assistance?" he queried, "otherwise I am going back to the bridge to see what is going on and if I am needed there."
She shook her head. “No you go back to the bridge, I can handle this. I have a feeling Rin will be glad to see you right about now.” Billi knew how nervous the young Ambassador got in some situations.

"that's not the worst of it. we have lost power to all systems- not just the engines." Jeff bnged the console in frustration. "We don't have power to the internal dampeners right now either. So even if we did have even 1/2 impulse, we would have to accelerate very slowly. It would take us about a day to get to that speed safley."

"Yes I believe she would," the Romulan agreed, "though she's learning fast and I believe she's doing very well indeed, especially for one her age." He gave Billi a quick kiss and walked towards sickbay's doors...which remained shut and caused him to walk straight into them.
"Ow," he exclaimed, rubbing his nose and smiled ruefully. "I suppose I shouldn't march like this," he added sheepishly, even though the doors still wouldn't open for him. In the end, he just pulled them apart by hand and exited sickbay. "Don't forget dinner later!" he called over his shoulder and smiled as his two firelizards appeared to be laughing at him in their own unique way.
"I'd like to see you two having that happen," he scolded them, as he stepped into one of the few remaining operational turbolifts. "Bridge," he ordered and felt he car accelerate, only to come to an abrupt halt a few decks up, stuck between two decks. "What the...." he started, and tapped his combadge, only to be met by static. "Great, stuck in a turbolift, doesn't anything work on this ship as it should?"
He looked up at his two firelizards. "Nut, go find Theel'ziin and inform the Colonel of my delay in coming to the bridge," he ordered, "Sev, you go find Rin and tell her the same. Yes I know, but she can talk to you remember? She's a telepath. Yes and you can ignore the big guy." That was reference to the Klingon ambassador.
The Romulan sat down in the turbolift car, seeing no point in remaining standing when the car wasn't appearing to go anywhere. He watched as his two zipped out, knowing they'd do their tasks.
~~~~
Nut appeared on the bridge, hovering mid air as he appeared to be looking for someone. There was no sight of the Andorian's blue firelizard, so instead Nut winged down to the Colonel's eye-level, chirping excitedly at him. Seconds later, the blue appeared, upon which the message could be passed on.
<Zhuk>
Meanwhile, Sev winged down and settled on Rin's console, peering at her intently, crooning as the young telepath stroked his back. His eyes whirled a mix of blue, orange and yellow, indicating he was happy, but extremely concerned.
Scene: Bridge, Bridge 1, USS JEFFERSON
Things were getting worse and worse for the Jefferson. The cloud that they were supposed to be studying was going to make contact with the ship in a matter of hours, more systems were malfunctioning, and the stress level of the bridge could practically be felt with the hand.
Matt had received reports of people trapped in turbo lifts, Jefferey's tubes, and in labs. He had only been able to contact a fourth of his team and sent them to fix the major and most important places. He needed at least half of the turbo lift to be repaired, a direct link to sickbay, main engineering, and deflector control. But with only a fourth of available people working on this it would take time and that was something that they didn't have.
Matt thoughts and problems were interrupted when he noticed Tedak's firelizards appear on the bridge. Matt was expecting to see Tedak join them on the bridge shortly, but he did not appear. Nut appeared in front of Col. Hrisvalar and Sev settled down next to Rin, which Matt noticed caused the Klingon Ambassador some distress.
"What is that filthy beast doing on the bridge?" Kralok said eying Sev," I didn't know that humans eat their animals."
His comment disgusted everyone on the bridge, and when the familiar sound of a dagger being drawn was heard, they all turned to the Kralok.
"Ambassador we don't eat these animals," Matt said looking at the horror in Rin's eyes," they are companions of some of our officers and guest.
"What a shame, they seem like a tasty dessert," Kralok said putting his dagger back into his wardrobe. That comment made all of the firelizards start chirping loudly and angrily at the Ambassador. This didn't seem to affect him anyways as he just stood his ground and showed his razor sharp Klingon teeth.
Things shortly settled down and Sev and Nut said what they had come to say. Of course no one expect Rin and Col. Hrisvalar knew what they had to say as they were the only ones that could talk to these winged dragons.
When Matt thought that Rin was finished talking to Sev he asked her what was going on. Matt had a feeling that Rin didn't want to be at tactical at the moment. Her proximity to the Klingon was causing her discomfort. Matt was going to suggest that someone else take over tactical for her, but their was no one on the bridge at the moment except for the Klingon and he was almost positive that Col. Hrisvalar would object to him having the finger on the trigger.
~What's up?~ Matt asked.
[Sickbay]
Billi was about to tap her combadge to let them know of the energy failure in sickbay when Tedak forced the doors opened. She quickly moved among the few injured which were already in sickbay and the few who entered once the Ambassador left. The door only opened half way.
[Bridge]
Rin looked up startled when Sev appeared on her console, and frowned as the small creature informed her about what had happened. Her fingers caressing the small creature.
She looked up at the Klingon Ambassador and admonished him in his native tongue. Her hand caressing the small dragon like creature which once again settled on her console.
“Ambassador Tedak seems to be stuck in a turbolift between the medical level and the bridge, he’s unhurt. There is also a power drain on the medical level and not all the doors or turbolifts are working on that deck.”
The fact she was uneasy at tactical all but forgotten with the excitement from the dragons and their guest Ambassador.
Jeff swore under his breath.
"I'm going down there. I can't seem to trust my own maintiance stff- at least there's one person in there who's screwing things up."
"sure about that?" The captain asked.
"When you've elimated the impossible..." Jeff began. "yes, I'm pretty darned sure."
"how are you goning to geth there? the're's not much power distabution around sthe ship at teh moment." Matt pointed out.
"Turboshafts. And one of these." Jeff opened up a service panel in the floor, and took out one of the small garvity generators. He attached it to a PADD. "That can be replaced later. there are enough on the bridge that it won't make a idfference. these are desinged to work anytime. they have their own battery, and there are several layers on the bridge, just in case. Same with sickbay and other critical areas."
"Good luck." Zhuk nodded to the lift.
"Thanks." Jeff walked over to the lift, and freed the doors. He paused, tok a deep breath, and jumped, gardually lowering himself with the makeshift unit.
.: Bridge :. Zhuk was busy looking over his command chair terminal, studying the different power failures that were intesifying themselves throughout the ship, when one of the Romulan's firelizards appeared on the bridge.
He tried to get some sort of message through to Zhuk, and Zhuk could only surmise that it had something to do with the Ambassador himself. Shortly Theel'zhiin appeared and confirmed Zhuk's assumption as he they were bonded and their felings and thoughts were more in sync, even if Zhuk still could not read or hear Theel'zhiin's mind.
Zhuk was interupted by Ambassador Kralok. "Bah! I would have eaten these creatures by now if we were on my world. That you are allowed to keep what you call pets while on voyage is beyond me. How much longer until you get your power restored to the engines?"Zhukarak ignored the comments about the firelizards. "Mr. Pudlo and his teams are working as best as they can. Now if you'll excuse me...computer, locate Ambassador Tedak."=/\= Ambassador Tedak is located in turbolift 1 Alpha, between decks 2 and 3. =/\="Computer, status on Ambassador Tedak's biosign readings."=/\= The Ambassador's biosigns are normal. =/\=~Good. Then he just sent his firelizard to let us know of his situation.~ Zhuk turned around. "Mr. Reynolds, I need what remaining non-critical auxilliary power we have transferred to the turbolifts. We can't have personnel being trapped in them."<Matt> ~Theel'zhiin, have Nut inform his master that we are getting him out as soon as we can.~ Theel'zhiin squawked and fluttered in response before turning to Nut to communicate in their own unique way. Then they both disappeared, presumably to the Ambassador's side.
"Mr Reynolds, send a message to S47 aprising them of our situation. Then let me know what you think about you and Mr. Johnson tacking a trip to the nebula for some readings? We can still perform part of our mission while we are marroned here. The ambassadors would be accompanying the two of you."<Matt/Alexander>.: Engineering :. The planned sabotage had started a bit prematurely, but the engineering officer was happy still. They weren't close enough to make it appear that the nebula was at fault, but if the faulty components were found that would point fingers at the Romulan since they were of Romulan origin. Not very happy with the Romulan involvement with Qualinost, he figured this was a good way of making the Federation more suspicious of them. They had already seperated the Debrunes into two major factions, trying to wreak havoc within themselves. This sabotage plan would hopefully get the Federation more involved to take action against the Romulans. After checking up on one of those Romulan components that hadn't done its dirty demise yet, the engineer rose quickly to return to his normal duties. He did'nt need to draw any attention to himself with his absence. While getting up, something fell out of his pocket unnoticed...it was his ID badge.
Several minutes had passed since the turbolift stopped moving, but to Tedak it was starting to feel like hours. He smiled as Nut suddenly appeared, closely followed by Theel'ziin. "Why hello there little fellow," he chuckled, as both firelizards settled on the floor of the car. "I trust your mate is doing everything he can to fix these little problems?"
The brown and the blue exchanged a few chirps, which Tedak took to mean that Zhuk was indeed doing everything he could. "That's comforting," he continued his monologue then looked up at the roof of the car, wondering if he was ever going to get out of here.
"Well, let's see if it's of any use to try." He got to his feet and stretched up to his full length to see whether he could reach the escape hatch. Unfortunately, even if he jumped he came several centimeters short of even reaching the hatch to give it a nudge to open. "Seems not," he continued, as he sat back down.
He dared not jump or move too much, because he knew the emergency clamps holding the car in place could only take so much stress. The last thing he wanted was the clamps to give and send the car rushing down to be pancaked on the bottom deck, taking him with it.
The Romulan stared down at the two firelizards, who seemed to be getting along just fine. "Nut, why don't you go back down to sickbay," he suggested, "I'm sure Billi will appreciate your company, however you're NOT to worry her, understand?"
Nut chirped and disappeared.
Suddenly the car lurched and the Romulan felt as though he was in free fall. As the car dropped faster than he did, he suddenly found himself completely free from the car and actually floating. "What?" he managed, as he flailed his arms in an attempt to grab hold of something.
Just as suddenly as the car had dropped it also stopped again, the emergency clamps grabbing on to something in the lift shaft once more. The sudden stop had the Romulan slammed back to the floor, knocking the air from his lungs. His head struck the deck hard and his vision went black for several seconds.
Theel'ziin had zipped between when the car dropped, but returned almost the instant the car had come to a halt. He chirped and twittered at the dazed Romulan, as he tried to sit up. "Well, that was something different," he murmured, then squinted at the blue firelizard. "You could go get some help you know," he suggested, as he rubbed the back of his head.
He was glad nothing was broken, but his brief loss of vision as well as the immediate headache told him that he hadn't come away from this completely unhurt. When he tried to stand, his surrounding was sent into a spin and he sat back down, folding an arm over his stomach. He didn't dare move again, and would wait for a rescue team to come and get him.
"Mr. Reynolds, I need what remaining non-critical auxiliary power we have transferred to the turbolifts. We can't have personnel being trapped in them."
"Sir, I can't give you anything," Matt said which caused everyone on the bridge to turn around and face him. "Sir I have already reallocated the energy supplies that we have, the only way to get the lifts moving would be to shut power to half of the ship."
"Surely running a few petty turbolifts doesn't use up that much power?" Kralok asked.
"No usually they wouldn't, but the fact that I have already tapped into the reserves means that their is no auxiliary power left," Matt said," we have to find a way of making more energy before the nebula consumes the ship."
"What about the people trapped in the lifts?" Col Hrisvalar asked.
"I have already sent my teams to fix the problem and the lift that Ambassador Tedak used is on there schedule," Matt said.
"So your saying that our people are going to have to wait to be rescued?" Alex asked.
"Yes, if we want to keep the ship running correctly," Matt responded.
"Mr Reynolds, send a message to S47 apprising them of our situation. Then let me know what you think about you and Mr. Johnson tacking a trip to the nebula for some readings? We can still perform part of our mission while we are marooned here. The ambassadors would be accompanying the two of you."
"Aye sir," Matt responded as he activated the long range communications. The message was short and sweet, but it got the point across. Hopefully Section 47 would send a ship to help them, but of course their wouldn't be any way to know that until their sensors picked up the ship.
"Sir if Commander Johnson and the Ambassador's are ready, I'm reading for a shuttle mission," Matt said as he stood up to strech out his legs.
Jeff descended slowly, noticing turbolift cars stuck all over. He saw tedak's pets over near one in a horizontal shaft... I could use a break, and perhaps I can inspect the relays in there while I'm over there... Jeff thought. but i really need to get to a safe location. Engineering is much safer.... He descended even further. Finally, he came to the horizontal stretch he needed. He steered over, and shut the gravity control device off, and started walking to the next shaft down to engineering . He arrived there and jumped down with the gravitational unit. he found the right doors, and tried the emergency release on the magnetic lock. It didn't work. Jeff searched his pockets for something, and found only a multi-use tool. no degausser.
"Ah well..." He grabbed it and started beating the relase with it. Curde, but the door opened a couple inches when he broke it. A surpised cry came.
"Who's there?" Gerry Mrak's face appeared at the opening.
"Just a weary traveler. Open the door already."
Mrak grabbed the edge of one of the doors, and pulled. "halfway open good enough?" he said, grunting. then he looked at Jeff. "umm... how'd you get here safely. i don't see an antigrav platform..."
"I improvised. I can't show you while I'm hovering here, so if you could move out of the doorway..."
"sorry." he stepped aside, and Jeff came out.
"this is how." Jeff pulled the improvised field device out of his uniform's secure inside pocket.
"pretty quick job of it. why the rush? We haven't been able to do anything down here..."
"that's part of it. no comm- nothing. I think it's sabotage."
"in the power relays?"
"Yes. I'm going to open up the main power routing board."
"You'll fry yourself! we can't shut down the core, and we don't dare to- it's all that's keeping the ship together!"
"I'm going to guess that's where the damage was done- probably because we can't usually open it with the core on."
"usually?"
"Just don't touch anything in there- I'll open it." Jef strode ver to an orange panel- the light was green- working as designed- but Jeff suspected that wasn't the case. around it, a red strip flashed, warning that this was active with 'hot' energy. Jeff typed in his code to unlock it, and pulled it off before anyone nearby could object. Sitting in the middle of it, there was a dark green device sitting affixed to the center- it was metal, and was crackling with energy.
"Romulan" Jeff and Mrak breathed at the same time.
"Can we get that off?"
"not without shutting off the core."
"shut it off then. send runners to all departments first though." Jeff sat and stared at the green device that managed to halt the workings of an entire sovereign class ship.
Scene: A certain lift, USS JEFFERSON
"Do you think anyone is in there?" Jack asked of his counterpart operations crewman. They had been working for about two hours working on every lift, system, and console on the ship trying to fix it. They of course were tired, and wanted to get back to what they usually did.
"Maybe we should just leave it," Skris said," we only found two people in all the lift that we worked on."
"Yeah your right," Jack said," what are the chances of ......"
Both of the crewman stopped talking and looked at the dragon in front of them. It was a small creature, but it could stop anyone in their tracks. The dragon started to chirp at them both and headed towards the lift.
"He's telling us that their is someone in there," Jack said as he went to the lift controls. Skris shortly joined them and in a matter of minutes the problem was solved. The lift came up to their level and revealed its occupant.
"Ambassador Tedak...."Jack said a bit surprised.
Tedak felt as though he was starting to lose his mind; he sat frozen in the turbolift car, barely daring to even breathe out of fear that tiny motion would set the car into a downward motion again. He started when suddenly the lift started moving again, but to his relief it was in an upward motion, going to the nearest deck above him.
He semi-staggered out of the turbolift, looking haggard and pale. "Ambassador Tedak," one of the service engineers gasped at him, looking both surprised and awed.
The Romulan nodded in response. "What took you so long?" he almost snapped, his stress levels still through the roof, "if that lift had started moving again on its own accord, I doubt it would've stopped before smashing on the bottom deck!" Colour was returning to his face, though he was shaking on his feet. When he reached for the engineer, he noticed his hand too was shaking. He stopped mid-motion as Theel'ziin landed on his hand, chittering angrily.
"What?" Tedak asked, his voice still betraying how he had felt earlier. No sooner had he asked it, or Nut appeared too, looking agitated. "No I'm all right," he muttered, "I am now." He looked up at the engineers. "I asked you a question," he said angrily, "I would expect an answer. What took you so long?" Then fear returned to his eyes as he remembered leaving Billi in a non-functional sickbay. "Is power back up in the sickbay section?" he urged, then looked at Nut, "is she all right?"
He gripped Jack by the shoulders. "Answer me!" he said, sounding desperate.
Jack had never been so afraid as he had been right now. He was an imposing figure in front of him who was screaming at him. Jack's mind couldn't even think about the pain that his body was feeling at the moment.
"Ambassador, release him, compose yourself," Skris said trying to make Tedak release Jack.
"Answer me!"
"We don't know, we have been doing repairs all over the ship, I don't know about your damned sickbay," Jack spat angrily. He of course knew that he had to respect the Ambassador, but know one would ever lay there hands on him without provacation.
"I'm ready when you are sir." said Johnson, getting up too, expectantly.
The Romulan took a surprised step back when hearing the vehemence in the engineer's voice. However when he tried approaching the engineer again, as he was desperate to get information about his beloved doctor, Theel'ziin suddenly swooped down on him, raking his talons past the Romulan's cheek.
Tedak gasped in surprise and halted his approach, noting that Nut too had been ready to strike down on him. He shook his head in confusion, an action which had been better left not taken as dizziness came over him again. "I apologize," he muttered, then looked up at the engineer again. "I must get to the bridge, will this car take me there now?"
At Jack's nod, though the engineer's eyes were still blazing anger, the Romulan stepped back in and was relieved to find himself finally in a smooth ride towards the bridge.
He arrived just in time to see Rin and Kralok get to their feet. ~Rin I need your assistance~ he thought, almost desperate. He was feeling sick and his head was pounding, but he was determined not to be sent away just because he was feeling unwell.
Tedak didn't miss her shocked expression when she saw her mentor exit the turbolift, bleeding gashes visible on his left cheek. He gave her a wary smile, but didn't leave his position next to the turbolift. ~the colonel's firelizard~ he explained ~quite a fierce defender~ Now he gazed up at Johnson. "What did I miss?" he asked, noticing how the commander was ready to leave the bridge.
He rubbed the back of his head in an attempt to make the headache go away. "Other than being stuck in a turbolift and having a nasty experiene in free-fall, that is," he added, trying to make a joke out of the situation. He looked up at Kralok, who cast him a disapproving glare. "I trust that you were sufficiently entertained by Ambassador Rin?" he querried, "I would have attended to it myself, but I was otherwise occupied."
=/\= I was able to get some auxiliary power going from the fusion reactors. We have impulse engines as well. Uh sir, I found something that you probably want to look at... =/\=
"What is it Mr. Pudlo?"
=/\= I'd rather not say of comm. Best if you came to see for yourself. =/\=
"On my way."
Zhuk rose from his command chair just as Ambassador Tedak entered the bridge from the now functioning turbolift. "Ambassador, glad to see you in one piece. Just in time too. Mr. Johnson was on his way to the shuttlebay. Mr. Reynolds should already be there. They are preparing to take a shuttle to the nebula for some scans. Seeing how we are impeded from traveling very fast, it seems to be the best way to go ahead and continue with the mission. You, Ambassador Kralok, and Ambassador Damis are welcome to join them."
<Tedak>
"Ambassador Kralok was making his way there already as he showed much interest. Now if you two will excuse me, I'm headed to Engineering." Zhuk strode passed Tedak as he started telling his adventurous story of being stuck in the turbolift.
Before Zhuk entered the turbolift he had decided that one more person could go ahead and join them. "Commander Matthew, I want you to head up the shuttle team. I have everything well in hand here."
<James>
Zhuk let the turbolift doors close. He had hoped that his experience within this capsule would be much less uneventful as the Ambassador's was. Without a hitch, he was brought all the way to the engineering deck.
For a brief moment he had wondered where his bondmate had gone off to again. Theel'zhiin had been in and out during Tedak's ordeal. Visions of aggression had been transferred into Zhuk's mind and it was made clear by Theel'zhiin how he had to restrain Ambassador Tedak from possibly assaulting a crew member. Zhuk didn't think he needed to address the matter.
Arriving at engineering, he found Jeff in his office. "Mr. Pudlo, what is it that I so desperately needed to come down and see?"
<Jeff>
Zhuk was stunned for a moment. ~...Sabotage? Why?...~ was all he could think for the moment. "Romulan, you say..." There was only one Romulan onboard his ship...Tedak. What would his reason be for sabotaging this ship?
"Mr. Pudlo, I need you to be quiet about this for now. Concentrate on getting the warp core back online, and keep me informed on anything else you may find."
<Jeff>
Zhukarak left Engineering and headed to sickbay. He had heard that his Senior Marine Officer had taken a bad blow to his head, and was still unconscious. When Zhukarak arrived he could see his Chief Medical Officer going over scans of the very person he was checking on.
Walking up from behind her, he asked quietly, "How is he doing, doc?"
<Billi>
"A possible coma...that bad, hm." Zhuk couldn't really add anything to that. It was unfortunate for Lieutenant Hunter. "Do what you can for him. Keep me informed of any changes to his condition. We'll be returning to S47 as soon as we are able to."
<Billi>
Zhukarak left sickbay. He contemplated on going straight to the bridge, but on his way he found himself detouring to his quarters. He needed a little respite from all that was happening. Apparently Theel'zhiin sensed how Zhuk felt as he at once 'zipped' into view.
Zhukarak sat in one of his lounging chairs and Theel'zhiin made himself comfortable by laying on his lap, while making a quite cooing sound. Zhuk was trying to make sense of the planted engineering device. If it was Tedak, then 'Why?' was all that kept crossing his mind.
Regarding the Andorian with a mix of suspicion and respect, Tedak slowly shook his head. "If it is all right with you colonel, I would prefer to remain here. I doubt my mind could take even looking at a nebula, much less the more turbulent flight pattern of a shuttlecraft." He smiled ruefully. "I have a headache," he admitted, "and I also doubt my stomach can take it right now."
Gazing over at Rin he smiled encouragingly. "But I am certain Ambassador Damis would like the opportunity to see the nebula closer by."
Rin shot him a baleful look, but departed the bridge nonetheless, to join the Klingon and Commander Matthew. Tedak himself slowly made his way back towards the tactical station, relieved to be able to sit down again. Carefully, he re-arranged his robes before trying to get a little comfortable. "Any news?" he asked no-one in particular. Absentmindedly, he continued to stroke Nut over his back, as the brown firelizard settled on his lap. Sev, he knew, was still with Billi in sickbay and wouldn't come back until called for.
Scene: Shuttle Bay, Deck 15, USS JEFFERSON
This would be Matt's first shuttle mission since his horrible experience on the Promise. It had been very hard on him, but he knew that he had to get over this little phobia that he felt towards the smaller shuttles. Alex had to do something, so Matt had gone ahead of everyone to get ready. This would also give him enough time to deal with his problem wihtout letting anyone know.
"So what am I going to do?" Kralok asked as he entered the shuttle. Matt was surprised to the see the Klingon there.
"I suppose you are here to see what we are doing?" Matt asked as he began the prelaunch sequence.
"That is not an honorable job, I am...." Kralok said but interrupted by someone else entering the shuttle.
"Rin, what are you doing here?" Matt asked pleasantly surprised.
"I'm also here to see what you guys will be doing," Rin responded as she sat down in the next available seat.
"Well I'm glad that you are going with us," Matt said smiling, knowing that the Klingon about now would be feeling very uncomfortable now.
"We are ready to leave once Commander Johnson arrives," Matt said finishing with the sequence and waiting for Alex.
