SD: 120312.1150 Arriving at star Base assailant MISSION DATE: 443.2307 Main Bridge, USS JEFFERSON
Admiral Loskene Commanding officer
Cmdr James T Matthew Executive officer
Lt, Johnson slowly allowed a grin to wash over his face as the NAV console chirped. "Admiral," he said, now beaming, "we're entering star base Assailant Area of Operation."
Cmdr, Matthew nodded "Thank you, Lieutenant, " he said easily. Then, he turned his head slightly, making eye contact with Lt Daya , occupying the Tactical station. "Hail the station, mister Daya.
"Aye, sir,” replied, his voice a touch higher in pitch than normal reflecting his excitement. Most young officers didn't get a chance at bridge duty when 'returning home;' however, with Lt, Daya despite his age and relative lack of experience, he was the ship's Chief Tactical/Security Officer for the past 6 months and change. As such, he could arrange his departments watch any way he saw fit.
It was an honor that most department heads took for themselves- and he was no exception.
Lt Daya hands punched at a couple of buttons. Then, his own console chirped. "I have them, Admiral," he said.
Loskene nodded. "Put 'em up," he said simply, gesturing towards the battle cruiser's large view screen.
Cmdr Reynolds obliged without acknowledging, punching a single blinking touchpad on his console.
In an instant, the star field on the screen was replaced by the image of a Vulcan male. [[[Greetings, Admiral Loskene. I am Commodore S’Tveck, The head of space dock operations - Welcome,] he said, grinning slightly.
At first, the Vulcan's grin startled him. However, he recovered quickly, allowing a warm smile of his own wash over his face. "Thank you, Commodore," he said. "It's good to finally meet you." He paused for a moment, and then continued. "Docking Bay #4 is ready for the Jefferson Captain Harris will be heading up all service repairs Teams once you dock everything's been prepped there are some new software upgrade that need to be Done."
S'Tveck nodded on he screen. he responded. [And now Admiral - our station is yours. Feel free to send your crew over for shore leave at your discretion.]]] He paused momentarily, remembering something.
[Oh yes- Admiral: the time on the station is currently 2311 hours. You may want to adjust your own clocks to reflect this.
Loskene chuckled. "Understood, Commodore," he said. "As you know, Commodore Harriet is here as well on board the Furious "He'll probably want to meet with you tomorrow sometime before my meeting with him in the afternoon. I'd like the chance to speak to you about some things before he depart?"
”It would be my pleasure, Admiral, he said, nodding. Then, abruptly he turned away towards one of his officers. He spoke again, clearing his throat softly.
[You've been cleared to dock at pylon B-2; the Jefferson is cleared for pylon G-4. Captain Harris and his staff will be waiting to come aboard once you dock.
Loskene nodded his acknowledgement. "Thank you, Commodore - I will see you shortly. Jefferson out," he said, bringing his forefinger across his neck as he did. Cmdr Reynolds obliged, cutting the channel cleanly.
Adm. Loskene ; number One let see if you still know how to dock a ship “ Cmdr Matthew: yes sir “ Cmdr Matthew; helm on the screen, the distant station began to grow ever larger. "Slow to 1/2 impulse, Mr. Johnson " Matthew ordered.
"Bring us in," he added softly uses thrusters only to maneuver let our momentum do the rest
USS Jefferson Dock At Pylon B-2,
Gayle Veldt watched the pressurized doors of the docking pylon slide away, revealing a tall, thin, graying human man wearing command red, flanked by two other Star Fleet officers (LCDR's like him), also wearing command red.
As they exited the gangway, S'Tveck stepped forward from Gayle’s side and extended a hand to the tall graying man in the middle. "Captain Vargas I presume," he said simply. "Welcome to Star base Assailant"
"Thank you, Commodore " Cmdr Matthew replied, grasping S'Tveck's hand and shaking it firmly. "It's good to be here," he commented. "Admiral Loskene will be along shortly- he had a few last minute things to tie up before disembarking," he added.
S'Tveck nodded. "Of course," he said simply. Then, he turned sideways slightly and gestured towards Gayle. "May I present my Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Gayle Veldt," he said.
Gayle smiled in her best imitation of a sincere smile. "Cmdr Matthew - welcome to star base Assailant," she said evenly, shaking the older Commander hand. *A bit too firm for my tastes, she thought as she released his hand.
S'Tveck” well commander I was once a Executive officer my self so I know you have a lot to do so we will leave you to it

At the earliest opportunity, T'Val departed the Jefferson and searched for her husband. It had been quite some time now since she'd seen him, and her son, and she was looking forward to spend some time with her family.
Yet when she entered their quarters, she found only the nanny and her son. She smiled as D'Beren ran up to her, and her smiled widened when the boy called her "mother". She swept him up and hugged him, then set him back down. "Stay with T'Shan," she told her son, "I am going to look for your father."
The Vulcan healer left their quarters, and by instinct suddenly knew where she could find him. She paced down to the shuttle bay and saw her husband emerge from his shuttle, apparently waiting for someone.
"I thought I might find you here," she said, and saw him turn sharpy, as if startled.
"T'Val!" He walked up to her and took her in a tight embrace. "You're back! When did the Jefferson arrive?"
"Only minutes ago," T'Val said, as she allowed her husband to hug her. Since there was no-one else around, she would allow him to indulge in his emotions. "But I see you are about to go off again."
Tedak nodded. "Saarok needs my help," he explained, "his ex-wife has set a bounty on him, and she nearly killed us a few days ago." He caressed her cheek as he gazed down on her. "But I promise I'll be careful. And I'll endeavour to return before the Jefferson sets out again."
"I know," T'Val replied, and turned as a human male walked into the hangar bay. "Greetings ambassador," she said, as the human approached, "do please try to keep my husband out of danger." She leaned in and kissed Tedak briefly. "Be well my husband, and do not forget your promise."
She turned and headed for sickbay, sure that Mercy could use her assistance. That, and she would have to make sure that her commanding officer took a few days leave, and that he wouldn't take any work with him.

SCENE USS JEFFERSON
(Cmdr Matthew Quarters)
As James sipped his mint tea and turned another page of the book. He sneezed and again considered a trip to sickbay. But he figured that there was no need to bother them with a simple cold.
Ales realized that his mind was wandering and that he had failed to absorb any of the last two paragraphs of his novel.
Thinking about the entire thing he still had to check on but right now most of the Jefferson crew where on the star base enjoying their shore leave, as he would be doing soon.
He returned his attention to the book he was reading. There was still the allure of turning pages that prevented him from ever being comfortable with books on PADDs.
It was a family thing; he supposed He was currently rereading Candide, a short novel from earlier in Earth's history.
“He found satire to be one of his favorite forms of fiction, and was interested by the insight it gave into various periods of human history. From Voltaire's Candide to Huxley's Brave New World, he found satire to be a very interesting form of literature.
”His console chirped and he set the book down to read the message that had just arrived in his mail que.
“He turned to the screen and called up the message.
”He sipped his tea and lazily petted his cat, spike, while reading the report on the screen in front of him. Lieutenant Commander Samantha Hudgins an old Academy pal was now requesting him to join her for Brestfast.
“This morning at Top side a new restaurant on the Star Base James mumble to him self well why not James tap at his computer console Accepting Cmdr Huggins offer for Breakfast James telling her he will join them at 07:00 hours.
Cmdr Matthew > computer send message
(90 minutes later)
Scene> S-B Assailant promenade (0700 hours)
”Sitting at a table in front of the Top Side Restaurant “
”Cmdr Matthew” sat comfortably at a small table of a popular café amidst the busyness of the promenade. He watched the wide range of activity in silence as he poked at his order of blueberry waffles with his fork.
“Looking around himself, he noticed how familiar he was becoming with SB Assailant, he even recognized some of the faces.
"Mind if I join you?" a voice surprised him.
”Turning around, Commander Matthew saw the familiar figure of his friend Lt, Commander Samantha Hudgins, the slender; raven haired commander Am I late. "Not at all Sam." He said with a slight smile.
”Cmdr Matthew and Samantha had known each other since they served on an Uss Raven Star ship together some years ago.
“In fact it was Samantha who convinced James to command Officer College with her. It was all a pleasant coincidence that they both ended up serving in the same fleet.
"I was reading your report." Samantha began, "Was it really that bad?"
”Hawkins grinned, reaching into her pocket and answered her question by tossing the severed mandible onto the table.
“Samantha sickly stared at the oversized jaw. "I actually left some things out of my report." She grumbled.
"If you ask me, I say we should have left that planet in ruins, and as for the wormhole, that monstrosity should have been destroyed the moment we came back through it. But of course, that is not the Starfleet way."
"And here I thought your malicious streak was long gone." Samantha laughed then quickly changed the subject. "Would you care to join me in the holosuite for some horseback riding?"
"Perhaps when I am finished." He said as he smothered his waffles in syrup.
PS: Just something to pass the time everyone, feel free to join in with your on R&R storyline while where in space dock.

As Beta Shift emerged onto the bridge, Johnson locked his console and left it to a young female ensign who sat down the helm and started working. Nodding to the command officer, Johnson headed for the turbolift.
"Deck 16." he said, simply. The lift responded and the lights started to go by the turbolift and the screen at the back showed the car's progress along its journey.
After a short while, the doors opened and Johnson stepped out onto deck 16. He rounded a corner and entered Main Engineering where he saw the person he was looking for.
He walked up to Chief Brian O'Malley who was working at a console on the wall.
"Aren't you off duty yet?" Johnson asked him.
"As soon as I've realigned this power relay." said O'Malley in his Irish accent.
The console beeped and O'Malley looked satisfied.
"Finished?" said Alexander.
"Aye, that should do it." replied O'Malley, "So, where are we headed?"
"To the station?" suggested Johnson.
"Lead the way." With that, the two headed to the nearest turbolift.

OCC: Sorry I know its short couldn't really think of much else. If I do I'll modify it.
Matt was so happy to be back on a starbase. To be honest he didn't really like them much, but the last mission had really made him appreciate them.
Before he had left the Jefferson he had left his second, an ensign Monica Quindara, in charge and told her to scan every system twice. He didn't want anything to go wrong when the Jefferson left dock. Matt knew that Monica would do the job to the best of her abilities, so he would be able to have a nice R&R.
Matt quickly made his way towards teh holodecks offered on the base. The Jefferson had good ones, but they didn't offer the programs that Matt wanted. So Matt quickly got into his Judo uniform and started to practice.

Scene ( Jefferson main Bridge )
After my Breakfast Meeting with Samantha I made my way back to the ship and check in I excuse myself from the bridge, but stop short of returning to my office.
The files can wait... I stop at one of the holadecks and pull up a program on Risa.
I smile at the familiar surroundings as I let myself believe for a brief moment that I'm back home. I toss a small stone into a stream and head down a grassy path that I know will lead to the edge of the Jalara Jungle.
A thousand memories come rushing back, some not so pleasant, others some of the best of my life. What was I doing?
This is insane... I have to put that time out of my mind. It is the past, over, gone. I turn away from the jungle and head up a hill, towards a spot my father used to take me when I was a little boy.
He'd pack a picnic and tell me about Earth, promising to take me there someday. He had never gotten the chance to do that, but I had taken his stories with me when I went myself, to attend Star Fleet Academy, following in the footsteps of the two men who had meant the most to me in my life - my father, Capt.. Ben Matthew- And my grandfather Adm. Christopher Matthew

Loskene: Very good, Commodore S’Tveck. I'll make sure to drop by your office before we leave.
The commodore nodded and the screen switched off.
Loskene: Well, I will be on Assailant. You are all free to stay here if you wish.
Loskene turned around when no one acknowledged him. The bridge was completely empty, and the turbolift had just closed. Loskene shook his head as he got onto the next turbolift. Once he arrived, he recognized a familiar face. It was Admiral O'Connor, the man who had the displeasure of hearing Loskene's admission to falsifying his academy survival test in Far East Russia.
Loskene made eye contact with him and he stopped in his tracks.
Loskene: Admiral O'Connor?
The admiral was quick to remember him.
O'Connor: ...Loskene is it?
Loskene: Yes sir.
O'Connor: Ah yes. Coincidence meeting you here... I heard of your promotion. Congratulations.
Loskene: Thank you sir.
O'Connor: I'm sure you were deserving of it. You've done a lot over the past 10 months since I last saw you.
Loskene: Time flies, sir.
O'Connor: For some of us. The ride is almost over for me though. I'm planning my retirement. Should be gone within 6 months or so.
Loskene: Sorry to hear that.
O'Connor: Eh, I had a good run. My wife is getting lonely. She needs more excitement in her life or she'll die of boredom. And those grandchildren won't be young for long.
Loskene: Well I can understand.
O'Connor: You have children?
Loskene: No, sir. I guess I meant that I can understand your reasoning.
The admiral nodded and let out a small sigh.
O'Connor: Well, I need to get back to work. It is good to see that you made the right choice and will continue with your career. But do yourself a favor. Have some children...or a wife. Hell, adopt if you have to. What's a man without a family?
Loskene: Well I have no plans at the moment...But I'll keep it in mind.
O'Connor: Indeed....Well carry on, Admiral.
Loskene nodded as the old man walked off.

That was probably the most fun that Matt had in the last couple of months. He had participated in a holographic martial arts tournament, which he of course won. Matt really didn't like to brag, but he was very very good at what he did. After finishing the tournament which turned out to be a six hour long program, Matt felt more refreshed than once he entered. As soon as he left the holodeck he headed towards the nearest restaurant. He knew that he was smelly, sweaty, and most likely a bit dirty, but he didn't really care. This was R&R and he would not be back in a very very long time. He quickly took the nearest seat he could find, but unfortunately it was surrounded by customers. Matt decided that it would be most prudent to shower first but he didn't want to go to the Jefferson to take a shower so he put his stuff at the table and made a V-line towards the holodeck again. Matt had a hard time finding a program that actually dealt with warm timid water. He did find one that was set on a lake side and he quickly activated it. After a few minutes of bathing he quickly dressed again and made his way towards the bar. When he arrived he found the displeasure to see that someone was drinking at his table. The table that was clearly marked with his stuff. "Excuse me, but I was sitting here," Matt said to the lady sitting at the table. "Well there are two seats," she responded and took another drink. Matt found this woman very annoying, but being who he was, he would take her challenge. So he sat down at the table. "You did see that my stuff was here?" Matt asked. "Yeah, but I thought that someone had forgotten it," she responded. Matt snorted a laugh, but found that her answer was acceptable. Of course the next moment a Ferengi came asking what he wanted to drink. Matt was almost 100% sure that all bartenders at a Federation starbase was a Ferengi. “Huumaaan, what do you want to drink?” he asked a bit harshly. Matt found this to be the attitude of most bartenders, but it didn’t answer the question that was given to him. What did he want to drink, Matt wasn’t really sure. So after a minute of thinking and a Ferengi’s screams and pushiness. “I’ll just have what ever she is having,” Matt said as he pointed to the women’s drink. At that moment for the first time Matt noticed her appearance and shape. She was very beautiful and Matt couldn’t help but feel his face get very hot. The women saw this and smiled. “Do you need some ice Cowboy?” she asked. Matt blushed even more and answered. “No. So if you don’t mind me asking what is your name?” Matt knew that he didn’t know this woman, but it just hit him that he wanted to know hers. For some reason she just smiled and said. “You will have to guess.” Matt smiled and thought that this game might be fun. “Well I can tell your American, most likely from California, Southern,” Matt started taking in her voice and appearance. The women looked kind of shocked at his guesses. Matt found it funny that almost no one knew the fact that he was a linguist. “Well your right, I’m an American and I was born in San Diego,” the women said. At this point the Ferengi had finally brought his drink. Without thinking about it, Matt just drank it straight up. Much to his surprise, the drink turned out to be a very strong blood wine. Which almost chocked him down. “What the hell is this?” Matt said already knowing the answer, which caused the women to laugh a bit to loudly. “Well, I guess the Commander can’t hold his liquor,” she said. For the first time Matt realized that she was also a Starfleet officer. Matt then thought of a crazy idea. “Well Lt,” Matt said as he checked her uniform in the bag,” I order you to tell me.” “I don’t think so; let me guess Lt. or Lt. Commander,” she responded,” were both off duty.” Matt laughed thinking that it really wasn’t going to work, but he had to try. “Okay, I’m guessing that your name might be Katie, Rachael, Sarah, Kristin, or Ashley,” Matt said finally trying to logically guess the correct name. The Lt. gave an involuntary shudder when he said a name, which made Matt think that he had guess correctly. He looked at the women a bit more closely and then a light bulb just lit up and he said. “Your name is Kristin.” Right away Matt knew he was correct, he could feel it. The Lt. smiled and nodded her head. “Yes, my name is Lt. Kristin Hope, nice to meet you…” Kristin started realizing that she didn’t know his name. “Lt. Commander Matthew Reynolds, but you can just call me Matt,” Matt said extending his hand. The Lt. took it and they started to talk. They talked about everything, there lives before Starfleet, there Starfleet careers, and there personal lives. They talked so long that Matt didn’t notice that they had been talking for over three hours. “I’m sorry, but I have to cut this conversation short, I have to report to the Jefferson,” Matt said. “Did you say the Jefferson?” Kristin said. “Yes I’m the Chief of Operations,” Matt said. “Well it just happens that I was just assigned to the Jefferson, I’m the new transporter chief,” Kristin said. ”Well then I know that I’m going to be seeing you a bit later,” Matt said and he walked off. The next second he felt Kristen right next to him. “Well you can take me there,” Kristen said. Matt smiled and kept on talking until they reached her new quarters and they parted. They both had decided to see each other again. This has turned out to be a really good R&R Matt thought. OCC: Lt. Kristen Hope will be a NPC I will be using from now on the Jefferson. I chose Chief Transporter chief because well transporter, lol. Hope this is okay.

Daya had no desire to leave the ship just yet, so he stayed in his quarters. Every hour or so he would get up and walk around the ship, nothing really on his mind, just walking. Every so often he would arrive on the bridge and sigh.
He stood at his station, which was now manned by an Ensign, and look over his shoulder. "Um, sir. can i help you" Daya just shook his head and smiled. " no Ensign, your doing fine. Just taking a quick look"
The Ensign raised an eyebrow and looked at him, " every two hours?" Daya chuckled a bit and smacked the ensign on the shoulder, and little rougher than intented, and Daya walked off.

========================== SD: 23.0213 MD: - Time: 10:00 hours Scene: ON Board THE USS JEFFERSON IN SPACE DOCK ==========================
Holodeck 1 –Program Running Matthew Dark Water”
The wind slapped his face with strongly. The white ship, longsome 30 meters, was riding the waves at impressive speed.
His muscles were contracted to contrast the force of the wind. He tied the rope around its metallic slot, reducing the sails' size to better control the ship.
The sun shone, high in a clear, blue sky. On the far horizon, sky and sea melt, creating a light mist.
James’s closed his eyes, feeling the wind caressing his skin, pushing against his body, passing through his hair.
His mouth opened in a bright, broad smile and shouted in pure joy.
A young ensign, one of the new additions of the Sovereign crew, stepped in Holodeck 1.
As the doors slid open and entered, he found overwhelmed by water. He drank a lot of salty water, before realizing he was drowning.
Suddenly James found himself in the middle of a black and yellow striped room.
All that he was experiencing before had disappeared. He was no more wearing the sleeve-less shirt, neither the short, sailor's trousers. He was quite disappointed; you could read on his face.
Adrenaline was still flowing into his blood. He checked the time, he was about to arrive. His shore leave was abruptly finishing.
"Yes Ensign?" He asked, noticing the wet ensign.
"Ahem.... sir...the Base operations officer wont to transporter some requested Supply’s on board.
Cmdr Matthew Have Cmdr Reynolds Handle that he the ship Operations officer I have A Appointment with a old Friend I cant miss" The young officer tried to keep a formal tone Yes Sir.
"James headed for the door "One more thing ensign..." He paused "I suggest you change your uniform before" James glanced at the clean walls of the Not so crowded corridors. Lower ranked officers acknowledged his presence with a salute.
He answered, but, really, he did not care. Of course command is a pleasant sensation, but he was not, at least, he did not consider himself, a senior officer who puts you in the brig because your boots are not shining.
Cmdr Matthew walked on the transporter padd, He nodded to the transporter chief.
"Energize"
The bluish beam swiftly covered the Sovereign interiors. Almost immediately, he found himself on another transporter padd.
The chief behind the console "Commander..." He swiftly saluted, after noticing the rank insignia "We were not expecting you so early..."
"I was not expecting such a bad reception. I did not hear welcome, chief." James bright eyes were scanning the man, slowly.
"Welcome aboard, commander. Of course. ." Chief Welch said, folding hands being his back "I'm sorry, I was just surprised, after all, you were scheduled to arrive Later."
"I never show up where People think I will it have kelps me alive so far. "Yes sir." The man answered in a firm tone.
"Thanks" Added James before leaving transporter room.
He took a turbolift to take a small tour of the New NX-ship. Then, if captain Walker were aboard, he would stop bye to see her.

Matt didn't know that he could talk so much to one person for so long. I guess there's a first time for everything Matt thought. Luckily for him he had a lot of work to do, to keep his mind occupied. Just as he had hoped his number two Monica had done all the work he had assigned her. But Matt being who he was, double checked her work. Matt of course expected everything to be in order and thats what he got.
After seeing that everything was done, he left the bridge and headed to wards his quarters. There he quickly went to work on his pet project, DNA manipulation. On his training mission on the Hanson, Matt saw the horrors of this type of manipulation. A creature named Leena was the result, she was magnificent, but she was a combination of many now extinct species. Matt felt that he would never let that happen to any other creature or person again. So he went to his books and studied.
Kristin's POV
This has been an interesting day Kristin thought as she unpacked her bags. There wasn't much in them, civilian clothes, her uniform, some pictures, and of course her mediation candles. She couldn't do anything without them. Being adopted by Vulcans did that to a person. The only thing was that she didn't keep her emotions repressed inside. Luckily for her, her adoptive parents encouraged her to express them.
Kristin was happy to be assigned to the Jefferson, not just because she was a sovereign class ship, but because of the exciting missions that she has been on. Kristin loves adventure in any shape of form.
After she finished unpacking she decided to spend a few minutes saying something on her log.
Lt. Kristin Hope's Personal Log Stardate 2391.0927
Guess what I have just arrived on the Jefferson. Well you would guess that, so why I'm I saying it. It doesn't matter really. I saw the ship and she is great. I always did like sovereign's. I also met a guy. Yeah I know what your saying, but he's different. He's also stationed on the Jefferson. He is the Chief of Operations. His name is Matt Reynolds, he's cool and we are going out for drinks tomorrow. I hope to have a friend on this new ship, since its hard for me to make them in the first place. I will be reporting into the Admiral as soon as I'm finished here, hopefully it goes okay.
End Log
"Computer is Admiral Loskene on board?" Kristin asked.
"No Admiral Loskene is not on board," the computer said.
"Notify me when he is please," Kristin said.
"Understood."
Seeing that the Admiral was not on board yet Kristin decided to meditate and read her latest book, War and Peace.

Jeff Pudlo, newly assigned to the Jefferson as it's Chief Engineer, walked onto the Docked ship. the story he had heard was that the ship had been without a Chief Engineer for a while now. On an impulse, he took off an access plate to look at the maintenance beneath. "At least the Starbase Crews earn their pay." Jeff said, shaking his head. "Does anything work? Computer, Locate the Captain."
"The captain is Not aboard at this time." it responded in the ship computer's mechanical default.
Later... Jeff thought. "Computer, locate the First Officer."
"The Commander is Not aboard at this moment."
Jeff Shook his head and headed words main engineering, and the first thing he was going to do was to change the default voice on his terminal. Then check the systems.....

Scene: Corridors of the USS JEFFERSON ----------------------------------------
As Cmdr Matthew stood waiting for the turbo lift; his mind was going through how things had been going on over the last few days.
There had been a few minor hiccups with getting some new personal onboard but nothing he was sure couldn't be sorted.
In Engineering the New CEO Ensign, Jeff Pudlo was now on board Learning his way around the ship at last check in He was still trying to find the cause of a surging problem the warp drives were experiencing at speeds of over warp 7.
James's thoughts were broken by the sound of the Turbo lift doors opening. He looked up to see Commander Mackenzie standing inside. She was tall, attractive and very fit, but more than that, he had found out over the last few days that she was a very dedicated and capable officer.
”James couldn't say he wasn't pleased to have her as ship new head of Exobiology Specialist. He smiled, probably more than he should have. The smile quickly, perhaps too obviously, reduced to a slight grin. "Commander how goes it?
" He said stepping inside. "Deck 8. Crew Lounge," he said to the turbo lift. The turbo lift juddered ever so slightly and with a low whine settled at its optimum speed.
"I'm OK commander " she said. "Things seem to be moving along quite well so far."
"So where are you off to? If I may ask Commander?"
"To my quarters. Just for some quiet time to think about a few things."
"Anything I can help you with? Perhaps we can talk about where we are up to over some lunch?" James suggested.
Jane looked down at the PADD she was holding then looked back at James.
"Sure, why not there are a few things I've been meaning to discuss with the ship XO."
James smile broadened. "You can address me as James, when we are out of earshot of the crew Mac," he explained.
"Yes Sir. Thank you Sir...." she hesitated for a second, getting used to the idea "Thank you James." she finally said.
---------------------------------------- Scene: Deck 8 - Crew Lounge ---------------------------------------- The doors to the Lounge swooshed open and both the XO and the Lt Cmdr walked in.
“Nobody really paid any attention, except one of the attendants. It was like that in the crew lounge.
"Welcome cmdr Taylor," the attendant said, as he looked the Commander Matthew in the eye.
"Commander." He acknowledged the Lt Cmdr, presence of the ship Executive officer also.
"Your favorite table is ready Mac," the attendant stated as he gestured to the table in the corner; a table that had a fantastic view of the outside space.
"A favorite table?" James 's eyebrows lifted as he tilted his head slightly.
Mackenzie blushed slightly. It was just a simple matter that she liked to take most of her meals in the Crew Lounge whenever she had the chance.
So yeah, she did spend quite a lot of time there. "I like the view Sir!" she answered simply.
They sat simultaneously then ordered. When the attendant had moved away Mackenzie slid her PADD over to James, placed her forearms on the table, relaxed her shoulders then leaned forward. "James, we have a slight problem in science Lab 3," she began.
"The warp surge issue?" he said straight up.
"For the most part yes." Jane said.
"There's more?" James quickly began to study the PADD. After a few minutes he looked up. "I was unaware of the coolant system problems. Could the two issues be related?"
"Not sure yet. Our new chief engineer says it may or may not be related."
James’s looked back down at the PADD "It says here; '...also, the coolant system seems barely able to cope with the demands of the warp drive over speeds of warp 7. We believe it may be a bad batch of coolant liquid.
At any rate we won't be able to do anything about it until we get back to Space dock and purge and recharge the system with new liquid...'
" James looked back at Jane and handed the PADD back to her. He became serious. "'Mac' top priority has been given to this and the surging issue.
I don't want to suddenly find ourselves dead in space while dealing with a ships in a combat situation."
"Good to hear," she answered immediately. "I'll personally speak to Lieutenant Rodgers about the situation," she added as she leaned back slightly to allow the attendant to place her lunch in front of her so how Being second in command of a star Ship and how do you deal with the Captain’s wonting to go on away missions. She waited for the commander's response as she watched James’s pause until his meal had been placed in front of him. He unwrapped his knife and fork from the serviette, placed the serviette beside his plate then finally looked straight back at Jane well the Admiral fill that all " First Officers.
Are always too overprotective of their Captains!" going on away missions so he decide that on a case-by-case call” He finally answered with a huge grin.
Jane returned the smile; she felt a huge sense of relief, then took a mouthful of pasta, satisfied that she could just be herself, up front, to the point. She liked that.
"Anything else?" Jane” No
“Cmdr Matthew then less enjoys our dinner.

Jeff couldn't belive what he had been seeing. the injectors had been feeding Dutronium into the reactor for some reason- the computer had responded with extra anti- Hydrogen, but above warp 7... It could easally have overloaded an blown up the Ship. He picked up an injector nozzle cleaner and set to work- He would have to clean the lines after that...
"Ensign, come here." he motioned to one of his staff. "I need you to clean this and check the fuel flow for me... I'll right it down for you." He scribbled a few things on a PADD. "I'll be back in aboput a half hour.
Stopping By his office, he noticed that the CMO had asked him to report in for a physical. "There goes dinner..." he mumbled, heading twords the turbolift. "Sickbay."
------------------------ It turned out that Healer T'val wasn't in, so he decided to wait. he was tired, and he could use some food. Walking over to a replicator he ordered a bowl of pasta salad and a stir fry. Plunging in vigorusly, he realized he was quite tired, and hadn't gotten to his quaters yet. he got back in the turbolift, and found his quarters clean but un-decorated. "that'll change..." he grumbled. His luggage was already in there from being beamed aboard, and it wasn't light. Sitting down, he relaxed for the first time on the Jefferson.

It was late at night, chronometer read "0200". Loskene began to move a little and lifted his head off the table. He scanned the room with his eyes, trying to figure out just where he was. He remembered, he had gone to a bar to have a drink and have a chance to watch old Earth baseball. Game 7 of the ALCS, 2004. Boston vs. New York. He had heard that the end of the game was a delight to Red Sox fans everywhere. Unfortunately it seemed that he had fallen asleep and missed the epic win. Still, Loskene found it strange that he had fallen asleep. The only time he would fall asleep at would be when he had free time, since he quite enjoyed falling asleep in a comfortable bed. But it wasn't a bed. It was a table...
He got up from his seat and was suddenly met with a bought of dizziness. He leaned against the chair for support.
Voice: You should be careful, there. "Admiral"
An old man came out of a dark corner of the bar and walked toward Loskene. He was Klingon.
Loskene: Klag...?
Voice: That's my name.
Loskene: Uh...What am I doing here?
Klag: Hehe. You should have seen it, you passed out cold!
Loskene: I what?
Klag: Yeah, you should have seen yourself, buddy!
Loskene: I've never been intoxicated...
Klag: Well, there's a first time for everything! Let's celebrate this occasion with a drink.
Loskene: No, N-no. I can't. I gotta get back to the Jefferson. I promised myself I'd get back and sort out transfers and damage reports.
Klag: From the looks of you, I think it's safe to say that the only place you'll be going is headacheville.
Loskene: Where?
Klag: You'll find out in the morning.
Klag winked as he poured himself a glass.
Klag: Ooh... 0100 already. I think it's about time I turn in.
Loskene: You must mean 0200. The-the-the uh... chronometer read 0200, Klag...
Klag: Nope, chronometer reads 0100.
Loskene: I could have sworn...
Klag: Yeah, yeah. Saurian brandy will do that to you once in a while. Go to sleep, Losk. When you wake up, you'll be a new man...or whatever you are.
Loskene: Yeah...Alright. It smells in here, anyway.
Loskene walked out slowly, heading to the transporter room. He didn't want to walk the whole way to the Jefferson, that would be awkward. 10 minutes later he arrived on the Jefferson. He lay down in his quarters and slept for a few hours.
0800 the chronometer read.
Loskene had a terrible headache, and he really wanted to get more rest but 0800 was the time when he usually woke up, and it had became a habit. He didn't have to be on the bridge, but he got dressed anyway. Then he heard his communicator go off and he quickly answered it.
Loskene: Who is it?
Voice: Admiral Loskene?
Loskene: Yeah, this is he.
Voice: This is Vice Admiral Olerud. I wish to speak with you. Nothing very urgent, but it is something that is considered of interest. Please come to my office, at about 0830.
Loskene: 0830 sir? I-I thought you said it wasn't urgent. Why such short notice, if you don't mind me asking, sir.
Olerud: Short notice? I'd figure an hour and a half is plenty of time to have breakfast, exercise, and get into outfit.
Loskene: Sir, you must be mistaken. It's 0810 at the moment. So, it would be 20 minutes.
Olerud: ....Admiral, my chronometer reads 0710.
Loskene: Hm. I guess the Jefferson's chronometers are off. I'll have to make it a point to inform my OPS officer.
Olerud: Indeed. Well, I will meet you in 85 minutes, Admiral.
Loskene: Very good sir.
The channel closed and Loskene began to get dressed.
0830
Loskene waited in the Admirals office for him to arrive. Very soon after, Vice Admiral Olerud entered and sat down.
Olerud: Admiral Loskene.
Olerud held out his hand and Loskene shook it.
Loskene: It is good to meet you. How can I be of help sir?
Olerud: Ah. Well, perhaps I can answer that with this diagram.
Olerud activated his computer screen and a map appeared.
Olerud: This is a map of Starbase Assailant and the surrounding systems. And this...
Olerud tapped a few buttons and a small dark cloud appeared near the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
Olerud: ...This is what we are curious about.
Loskene: What is it? An anomaly? An undiscovered nebula?
Olerud: We don't know, actually. Our sensor stations just picked it up a couple of days ago. Obviously it's a new occurrence, and since nebulae take billions of years to form, it can't possibly be that. An anomaly or some kind of space storm, our scientists have come up with all sorts of theories, none which have been ruled out. Our sensor stations can only learn so much, we need people out there, investigating it. So I noticed that the Jefferson was free, so I decided that it would be a good idea to send you out there.
Loskene: Intriguing sir. Does it pose any danger?
Olerud: We don't know. Not that we know of. A Federation cargo runner wanted to get a closer look and they did get pretty close. No damage, and that ship is docked here, perfectly intact.
Loskene: A relief. Every anomaly the Jefferson has encountered has always seemed unfriendly.
Olerud: Heheh. Well I have a feeling this thing is just the new kid on the block who wouldn't hurt a fly. Get going once everything and everyone is prepared.
Loskene: Yes sir.
Loskene left the admirals office, heading back to the Jefferson. While he walked he looked out of one of the viewpoints, where one could get an excellent view of the docking bay. He spotted the cargo runner nearby. Not a spot on her. Loskene continued on his way. After a few minutes of winding through corridors, Loskene was struck by a young officer who was running through the corridor. He looked half asleep.
Loskene: Ensign...
Ensign: Uh sorry sir. I didn't see you coming. I'm gonna be late for my assignment. I have to be there by 0800.
Loskene: Ensign, it's 0900. You're about an hour late, I'm afraid.
Ensign: What? No, no. It's- Sorry let me catch my breath. Computer, time!
Computer: The time is 0801.
Ensign: I'm late!
The ensign ran away from Loskene, leaving Loskene by himself. Loskene checked the chronometer, to make sure the computer was correct.
Loskene: 0802... He was right. What's going on here...?
Loskene walked away confused, he'd make sure he'd tell the staff of the computer troubles. He had finally boarded the Jefferson, and headed to the bridge.
OFF: Okay, so now the shore leave is slowly coming to a close, and our new mission has just begun. More to come.

Star Date: 910930.72
Location: Main Bridge, USS JEFFERSON
07:00 hours Beginning The Day Watch
”It was four bells in the morning watch; Lieutenant Kasara was sitting what would be one of her last watches aboard Jefferson.
“As the Admiral came onto the bridge, one of the crewmen at the aft science console saw him first and called "Admiral on deck."
"As you were," said Loskene immediately. There was little activity on the bridge during the morning watch.
"Report, Lieutenant," said the Admiral as he walked down to the lower portion of the command deck.
"We are still in Space Dock.
All ship's systems are operating within standard parameters all ships supply’s are on board.
"Very well, Mister Kasara, carry on. I will be in my ready room."
Minutes later, the door chime beeped. The Admiral looked up from the barely started work before him. "Come," stated the commanding officer of Jefferson, trying to keep the annoyance from his voice.
"Am I disturbing something?"
"Not at all, Master Chief," said the Admiral. Aaron Williams, Command Master Chief of USS Jefferson, was generally an excellent judge of character and an even better judge of his Admiral's mood.
“Loskene knew that he'd been sulking lately, thinking about Aden Duncan and a dozen other friends among the USS Adriana that he'd more likely than not never see again.
The Admiral had been trying not to show it, but apparently he had shown it enough for the master chief to notice.
As if on cue, the captain's steward, Cole Verdi, appeared with coffee for the Master Chief and hot chocolate for his captain. Just as quickly, the man disappeared.
"Why, Williams, do I have the feeling that my senior enlisted crew is conspiring behind my back in a mutinous manner?
" The captain's tone was very sarcastic and equally dry.
He didn't like it when he was the last to know something on his ship. It was clear that Williams and Verdi had been discussing the Admiral's mood.
The Master Chief took a long draw from his mug. "I don't know what you are talking about, Sir. I just wanted to stop by and see how things have been going. You know how rumors spread.
"And Chief Verdi..."
"...Just knows that I like coffee and you like that overly sweet sludge, Sir," jived the Jefferson's senior enlisted man. "Speaking of sweets, Aella sends word from Izar. She visited the Garths. Your children are doing well, though they miss their father."
”Loskene looked down at his hot chocolate. "It can't be helped any more than you can help leaving Aella and your seven little Williams. This is what we do and a starship is no place for children."
"Aye," said the master chief. "I suppose so. Our business is something that tends to leave family and friends spread across thousands of light years." The captain looked up at that comment.
"I was wondering which nerve it would be that struck home. I know that you miss your family; I am in the same position. But, I have never been asked to infiltrate the military of a foreign government and then to go to war with the same people that I just befriended."
"We never even got off a shot, Williams."
"Aye, but that wasn't for lack of trying. Those Dalriadan warships decided to try an end run around us rather than going through us and you did all that you could to get them in our sight." The joking tone was gone from the command master chief's voice. "It isn't easy to try to kill a friend. And, on top of that, you failed to do so and still feel guilty about not having done something that you didn't want to do anyway."
"It is a good thing that you aren't ship's counselor Williams," said the captain. The sarcasm was still in his voice, but there was a hint of a smile on his face.
Some time later, Loskene looked at his chronometer. Nearly two hours had passed. Williams had done a lot to lift his spirits, if nothing to help get the report forms still sitting on his desk on various PADDs filled out.
<Main Bridge >
Loskene stepped onto the bridge. "Admiral on the bridge," called the officer manning the ops station, the station nearest the Admiral's day cabin. Commander Matthew had just settled into the command chair for the forenoon watch.
"Commander, are all of the Jefferson personnel aboard” Cmdr Matthew. Most are sir I just had Cmdr Reynolds Contact the base and had them issue a general recall for the ship?
" Inquired the Admiral.
"Very well, Commander. Recall all senior Department heads.
