"Lieutenant Blakus, I need to speak to you now."
Blakus's concentration on his work was broken, he'd been in the process of doing something extremely complicated and having been absorbed in a world of his own he was startled. The young CEO looked down and saw the Science Officer staring up at him. "What's she doing here.." he mumbled to himself quietly, Really do not need this... he unstrapped his harness and used the pulley control to let himself down to the floor of the extremely small room. Galwyn didn't mince words and handed him a Padd.
"I think we've found a way to slow the collapse of the star down, perhaps even prevent collapse all together. The bad news is that we'd need to manually modify the main deflector to emit a precisely tuned pulsed graviton beam."
Out of the many contradictions, the impediments to Blakus's lines of thought that were among what had just been said to him, two words leapt out at him, the words being: precisely; and tuned. When put together and related to the main deflector they resulted in something that Blakus found himself not to be best pleased at. He searched for something to say from the many possible sentences which jumped into his mind at that moment. "You'll have to stabilise the power flow..." he muttered, stepping backwards with a degree of disbelief.
"Uhh.." he started, "I'll be blunt Commander, do you realise how much extra work you have given me? And how near to impossible the task actually is?!" Andae felt like he'd lost control, but he couldn't help it. He was so incredibly stressed out and frustrated, he felt like hitting something, or someone. "In short, sir," he continued trying to control himself but not succeeding, and just saying it anyway, "My current line of thought had been to control the energy overload from the impulse engines by channeling the excess through the Nav Deflector.. Quite obviously, this would involve a highly unstable and unpredictable power flow. And you come along telling me we need a finely tuned graviton pulse beam? No no no..." The engineer bumbled along with his line of jumbled thoughts and emotions.
"So basically what you're saying" he continued, "Is that we either remain here and try this out. Or, we can flee the system with the impulse drive?"
<Tag: Tiana>
All or nothing... great plan, Blakus thought bitterly. "Thankyou for bringing this to my attention. Sir." He added the 'sir' part on to the end and saluted. "Shall we get started?" He asked, trying to be nicer, he looked into her eyes to try to reassure her that he wasn't completely put out.

Scene: MAIN Bridge, USS VICTORY
“Cmdr Matthew sat at his console on the bridge, waiting to see what was going to happen next. When he heard the computer beep and looked at the view screen. The TAC officer announced,
"Looks like a small craft Breaking orbit of Pelli it’s a 3rd class interplanetary Transport ship no impulse or warp Capacitate on board Heading... To the fifth planet."
“Cmdr Matthew jumped up and asked, "Collins, what's over there that interests them?"
“ Running Scan sir ‘ Commander all five planets are made up of chromium. Materials there are nine Mining stations spread out over the five planets ‘
“ Cmdr Matthew “ hmm Well keep an eye on him I would think with your planet about to be turn in to Space dust mining would be the Last thing on your mind Maybe the Government has kelp it a secret from there citizens in the Dark then there was a Beep “
“Cmdr Matthew Comm. Badge. heard: the ship chief Engineer

He was happy to be out of his space suite, but it seemed the office who got him a board was busy. Matter of fact everybody he passed seemed to be up to there necks with work. Nobody gave him a secound look as he passed them on his way to the bridge. When he entered the bridge the everybody was working on something his quick glances of ship systems he had already figured out warp drive was off line when he apporached it was confirmed for him on the view screen.
Nobody seemed to look up when he entered the bridge so he let out a little cough " I'm Commander Desertpride somebody call for a pilot. I have to admit I'm thinking about getting out and pushing right now, you'll be lucky to get impulse of this ship right now"<Tag anybody>

"Uhh.." he started, "I'll be blunt Commander, do you realise how much extra work you have given me? And how near to impossible the task actually is?!" Andae did not look happy. "In short, sir, My current line of thought had been to control the energy overload from the impulse engines by channeling the excess through the Nav Deflector.. Quite obviously, this would involve a highly unstable and unpredictable power flow. And you come along telling me we need a finely tuned graviton pulse beam? No no no..." Tiana wasn't surprised at the outburst she knew she was asking the near impossible but then they were attempting to stop a star exploding so 'impossible' was the order of the day anyway.
"So basically what you're saying" he continued, "Is that we either remain here and try this out. Or, we can flee the system with the impulse drive?" Tiana nodded slowly in response, she hadn't expected the CEO to be using the deflectors in that manner but now she had to take account of it.
"There has to be a way to do it.." Tiana paused, she was sure who she was talking to, she was trying to think. She was thinking about one of her professors who always said that 'no problem is impossible, you just have to look at it a different way.'
"Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Sir." He saluted. "Shall we get started?" Tiana knew Andae wasn't happy, she wouldn't have been if some one had dumped this on her... She remember sunlight flickering off Professor Sanders' glasses, he was an old traditionalist at heart, as he explained some problem... That was it... Tiana broke into a big smile and looked at the CEO.
"Glasses," she said. "If we externally mount an extra focussing mechanism over the deflector array then we can tune the uncontrolled graviton beam produced by the impulse engine excess. What do you think?"

Russell was sat in the First officer’s chair looking over what little the engineering department was able to report before running off to do some more repairs, Russell knew he should technically be in the centre chair but he could not get himself to take that particular seat, he had already sat in the counsellor’s chair more than once. Noting Tiana walking down to speak to him he got up and hope for good news. As he listened to her report on the status of the star and her many theories on what had caused the star to begin going mental a few thousand years early as she came to a halt she gave him a Padd containing her findings "That's the best I can do at the moment." She smiled darkly, "If they want anything further can you tell then to get back to me in about 20 hours?" Russell smiled then let Tiana get on with what ever project or theory work she was working on. Russell noted that since he stood up a large amount of reports had arrived at his consol ‘this is what we get for repairing the long range communications array’ quickly drifting through the reports he noted that Andae had been promoted and that he should expect a new Chief Navigations officer sometime soon.
No sooner then reading the note did the turbo lift open to allow a man to enter " I'm Commander Desert pride somebody call for a pilot. I have to admit I'm thinking about getting out and pushing right now, you'll be lucky to get impulse of this ship right now" “well welcome aboard Commander, Commander Russell Davis the Victory’s XO, and I think you pushing though a nice offer is not needed at this moment, take your station” Russell felt that might have been harsh but he was up to almost two days without sleep by this point, “Commander set us in a orbit that will keep us behind the planet away from the star, least we will avoid any more hits like the one we had earlier” <Tag Pride>
Tiana had said it was possible for another wave but unlikely. Russell watched as the new commander quickly set them moving into the shadow of the planet, taking the first officer’s seat he began reading through the reports and messages from star fleet. ‘It seems that a small fleet is being sent to aid in the evacuation. Mission but do not expect to be here for another 6 hours’, “Lieutenant, how long do we have until we should expect this star to destroy the system?” the lieutenant quickly jumped as he released that had been aimed at him “Sir, sometime between 8 to 10 hours” Russell looked at him “Thank you Lieutenant”.
Russell looked at the view screen and wondered if there was going to be enough time to evacuate the entire system it did not look like they had even started yet, Russell was about to consider contacting the various governments to see what the progress was when he heard a large amount of beeping coming from the science station. Turning hoping this was good news Russell looked at the Lieutenants face and realised it was not, “Report Lieutenant” Russell felt this was becoming his automatic line now “ah sir, Kavris one has been destroyed” Russell had almost fallen out of his chair at the mention of ‘destroyed’ Russell quickly recovered by making it look like he had jumped out of his chair to look at the consol quickly “how the hell did that happen?” Russell did not really want to know but this was not a good sign “well sir it looks like the star just gave off another wave of solar matter, Kavris 1 was torn apart and Kavris 2 has had what little atmosphere it had burned off, nothing much has happened this far out of the system but I think our estimates on how long we have may be off” Russell did not want to ask the questions ‘how much time do we have now’ and instead hit his comm. badge “Captain I think our day just got worse”

HVictoryy got someone to notice him after about 2 Min's, although he had hope he didn't ruffle any feathers with his comment
“well welcome aboard Commander, Commander Russell Davis the Victory’s XO, and I think you pushing though a nice offer is not needed at this moment, take your station”
Walking over to assume his seat he could tell it had been awhile since they had a real pilot. The control lay out was standard one given to the ship. With a couple of changes he programed the control board to something he liked. When he heard the orders to move the ship he had to restrain him self from saying anything.
“Commander set us in a orbit that will keep us behind the planet away from the star, least we will avoid any more hits like the one we had earlier”
He didn't even look back he wanted too but knew better to keep his thoughts to himself. Just move the ship no problem what would you like me to move it with. Warp drive off line impulse almost dead and by the looks of it some of the thrusters were shot as well.
" Understood Commander setting course now" He closed his eyes and started his course plot, he knew his controls by heart but how the ship responded was another matter. He needed to get a feel for her on how she handled. Not to mention with his sense stretched he could detect sudden changes in gravity that might help. Very slowly and kind of lazily the ship moved. He was over taxing thrusters but didn't want to burn up what ever impulse they had moving the ship.
He could tell things were not going well when he heard the xo call for the captain. Thinking to himself about how to move a ship with no warp. Turning from his station for a moment and seeing how far his idea would go. " Sir I know I just got here and I'm playing catch up but has anybody thought about making the ship lighter. I mean reducing its mass and drag by creating a moving gravity bubble. We wont have warp drive but it could give you more speed out of the impulse drive if it only had to push half the mass of the ship"

Tiberian heard the message on the Captain's comm as they walked down to the shuttle bay with the intention of obtaining information from the pilots.
"I'll finish up here ma'am" Tiberian offered "I think that you probably need to be on the bridge by the sounds of it"
He smiled and walked on, heading for the shuttlebay. On his arrival, a rather entertaining sight met his eyes. The two pilots appeared to be fighting with each other, with both held a few feet apart from the other by a group of marines. A variety of insults and wild kicks were exchanged between the two as Tiberian watched on in a mild form of bemusement. Martinez came to stand beside him.
"This kicked off the minute that the one on the left said he wanted to talk to you" He explained, as the shouting marines endeavoured to pull the two pilots further apart.
Deciding to make life easier for all those involved, Tiberian settled on a simpler course of action. Drawing his phaser, he aimed it at the man on the right hand side and fired, sending the man sprawling to the ground stunned. The marines released his body, allowing it to slump to the floor, whilst Tiberian rounded on the other man, now staring at him in a state of shock.
"You said you wanted to talk" Tiberian said "So start, and do it quickly"
"The governemnts of this system aren't independently responsible" the pilot babbled off very quickly "We're part of a separatist group from Valnot, called "Frontier Storm". We've been trying to establish our dominance in this sector through military developments which would allow us to hold power over the other planets, whilst leaving Valnot relatively safe"
"And how have these technologies lead to your sun going nova?" Tiberian pressed, necessity now becoming ever more urgent.
"Some of our latest developments came in the form of chroniton based weaponry" he explained "We've been trying to manufacture miniature solar flares capable of threatening those planets nearer to the sun itself"
"Micro-singularities" Tiberian muttered to himself, half admiring whilst also condemning the plan. He raied his voice to an audible level once again "So let me guess, you just got the yield a little off"
"When you people turned up, we knew we needed a bigger statment to hold over the bargaining table. We never actually planned on using it. Someone must have got their wires crossed"
"Damn right they did" Tiberian retorted angrily, rubbing his forehead. He turned to Martinez "Put him in a holding cell, and make sure he tells you everything there is to know. Wait!" He called out as the marines began to take the man away. "What happened to my team of marine accompanying the officers you kidnapped?"
"We only wanted to take the high ranking officers to disrupt you" the pilot answered "The soldiers were of no consequence. We dumped them in a wood on the southern hemisphere. They're uninjured"
Tiberian turned away at this, waving with his left hand to gesture for the removal of the pilot. He raced off in to the corridor, unsure as to why he was not doing this via the comm system.
"Computer, locate Commander Galwyn"
"Commander Galwyn is in the deflector maintenance junction"
Tiberian raced off, only to find himself crawling through a jeffries tube to actually reach the junction. He eventually arrived, seeing Blakus along with Galwyn and another science officer already present in the relatively cramped space.
"Well this is cosy" he said with a slight smile "I'm not sure if this is relevant, though I have a sinking feeling that it is. One of the pilots who just confessed to being involved in all this said that they have been experimenting with chroniton based weaponry on the sun. How bad does that make it?"

Nika nervously observed Wong’s attempts to gain information, hoping that he did know what he was doing. She wondered if she wouldn’t have preferred to be somewhere else while Wong threatened the officers, but she knew this was where she should be, and she was fairly sure she understood what Wong was doing. She’d been a security officer once, after all, though it had been a while ago. So Nika simply listened while Wong talked, and she was careful to control her reactions to Wong’s words, not giving away the game. Fortunately enough, she knew, one of the pilots chose to speak before emotional distress was turned into actual torture and she was forced to step in. As it was, she was uneasy with the situation, and had been planning to step in and say something as soon as she could do so without being surrounded by people.
"Shall we ma'am?" Wong asked.
"Yes, let's," Nika replied.
As they headed to the shuttlebay, Nika's worried train of thought was cut off by the voice of her first officer. =/\=Captain I think our day just got worse=/\=
=/\=Report=/\= Nika asked, and Commander Davis explained the situation. Nika turned to Colonel Wong, saying: "You talk to the prisoners and report back to me what you find out. I'll be on the bridge," she said, already turning away to go to it.
Upon entering the bridge, Nika saw an officer she didn't recognize manning the Navigation Console and explaining a plan to Davis. "Commander Pride," she said, half a request for confirmation of identity and half a predecessor to her words. "Not to mention that if we eject enough mass at sufficient velocity, that will also increase our speed." Nika looked around the bridge to find it mostly deserted.
"Commander Davis, determine what we have that is non-essential and get it ejected." Nika thought for a moment. "We could also get some people loaded up in those of the shuttles that still have warp capability." The Victory didn't have enough shuttles for a full evacuation, and while there were plenty of life pods, many of them didn't have warp.
After waiting for a response from Commander Davis, Nika turned back to Pride. "Is there any way you can get help and speed from either the planet's gravity in a slingshot maneuver, or using the waves of solar matter that are constantly being emitted?" She knew that neither of them on their own would be enough, but maybe, if they had a combination of enough different little things, it would be.

Lieutenant Blakus was still pondering Tiana's suggestion when Colonel Wong crawled out of the Jefferies Tube. He stood up and looked round at Martha, Tiana and Andae.
"Well this is cosy" he said with a slight smile "I'm not sure if this is relevant, though I have a sinking feeling that it is. One of the pilots who just confessed to being involved in all this said that they have been experimenting with chroniton based weaponry on the sun. How bad does that make it?"
Tiana's stomach dropped when she heard the SMO's words. "How bad is it?," she shrugged unable to think of a truly appropriate response she said simply "Its bad."
"Adding chronitons means that the whole star is more unstable and I've probably over-estimated the time we have left by around a third." She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "how could anyone be so terminally stupid... Actually I don't want to know." She moved as if to begin pacing again and then realised that this was impractical in the close confines of the junction area. Her anger level was building she wanted to damage something preferably the person responsible. She looked at the SMO.
"Just do me a favour Colonel, and keep me away from the idiots responsible for this at least until I've calmed down a little."
Tag: Colonel Wong
She looked back at the CEO who was as shocked as her by this news. She took a deep breath and tried to calm down and more to the point think "I think we can still do this we just had to add some anti-chronitons to the stream to counter the residual affects..."
Tag: Andae
Tiana tapped her comm badge =/\=Commander Galwyn to Lieutenant Palmer, I need the calculations until first stage collapse redone with cronitons in the star.=/\= A few mutterings came over the comm link.
=/\=Aye, sir=/\= There was a resignation to Liam's voice that Tiana didn't like but she didn't have time to deal with that now. she looked at the others.
"We'd better get going then."

Upon asking Tiana if they should get started Andae watched her as she smiled, "Glasses," she said, Has she cracked? Andae thought. She continued, "If we externally mount an extra focussing mechanism over the deflector array then we can tune the uncontrolled graviton beam produced by the impulse engine excess. What do you think?"
Andae was taken aback by the great idea,"That's, that could work," he said nodding. "I approve of thinking outside the box, in this case outside the ship, literally." Andae laughed at his own unintentional pun, why did he suddenly feel so content? "Hold on," he said suddenly worried, "This is going to involve a zero-g walk, isn't it?"
<Tag Tiana>
Andae gave Tiana a mini-briefing on what he had done in his repairs to the deflector coils so far. Then they set about doing calculations and further necessary repairs were relayed up to Ensign Bligh, who was still up to his armpits in repair work up above them.
After five minutes they heard some noises from the Jefferies Tube. Somebody was coming. That somebody was revealed to be Colonel Wong. Blakus was surprised, what was a marine doing in a maintenance junction?
"Well this is cosy" said the Colonel with a slight smile "I'm not sure if this is relevant, though I have a sinking feeling that it is. One of the pilots who just confessed to being involved in all this said that they have been experimenting with chroniton based weaponry on the sun. How bad does that make it?"
Tiana jumped in first, "How bad is it?," she shrugged, "Its bad." Couldn't say it better myself, Blakus thought. He let Tiana explain.
"Adding chronitons means that the whole star is more unstable and I've probably over-estimated the time we have left by around a third," she said, "how could anyone be so terminally stupid... Actually I don't want to know."
Blakus almost laughed again. Tiana turned back to him,
"I think we can still do this we just had to add some anti-chronitons to the stream to counter the residual affects..." she said.
Blakus had to think, "Yes that would work, but it will make the focussing mechanism very complicated. I'm not sure I could trust Lieutenant Holland to do that..." Blakus fought the temptation to put his hand over his mouth, he shouldn't have said that. Tiana looked at him funnily, and the CEO couldn't decide whether she was surprised by his lack of faith in his subordinate, or because she was surprised to hear that he wasn't going himself. Blakus looked at Wong, who seemed amused.

Looking up at the new person addressing him and seeing it was the captain, he lost his train of thought for a moment. He was taken back by her eyes they were strangely drawing his attention and he had to stop to refocus him self and to shut out emotions for the moment.
She seemed to be on the same train of thought he was and listened to her ideas. He closed his eyes for a secound to run her ideas through what he could feel in space around him and what he knew about flight operations. Both idea's sounded good but didn't quite seem feeseable.
" Captain sorry I didn't report to you sooner, I dont think the sling shot will work. You have to be cable of a high rate of speed which we can't achive. Chances are we would be caught in orbit with out break away speed. As for the solar sails maybe but I dont see how they will handle the shock wave. I'm not ruling it out but there might be another away a risker way but it might work. If would could lighten our mass and create a stable gravity bubble. We could launch all our warp shuttles and have the tractor beam us and bring our speed up to warp 1. The down side there will be no way for any of the crew to escape if it doesn't work. It would also mean engineering would have to create this bubble make it stable while I strenght the shuttles tractor beams. I would flight them all by remote control and slave them together"
Puasing for a moment " The shuttle I just came in on is in the bay she's next generation high warp cable. By shutting down all there systems we might have enough power to pull it off, if we can get light enought. Engineering would have to work the numbers and go from there with it"

Tiberian looked mildly amused as Blakus thought openly about the capabilities of his subordinates, also registering the surprise on Galwyn's face that the CEO wasn't going to be directly involved himself. Tiberian's smiling became more glazed, and his mind drifted off to the problem at hand. The problem came in forming the mirror itself, with nothing short of a class three replicator capable of producing something on such a massive scale. Though mirrors were only about the bending of waves, and there were other things aboard the starship which could do this...
"We could always use the shuttles" Tiberian interjected, drawing surprised looks from all those present. It was commonly accepted that anything scientific was outside the remit of marines, who were simply there to provide mindless muscle. Not today. He began to elaborate. "If we use the shuttles, and possibly some of the escape pods too, to form a ring around the main deflector, then we can interlock their shield bubbles. This ought to create the desired mirror effect, which we can alter easily-ish by rotating the resonance frequencies until we can tune the beam accurately"
The three others stared at him open mouthed, and then asked in unison.
"How...?"
"I dated a scientist in the academy" Tiberian explained, somewhat sheepishly "She was a Trill called Jana, fantastic legs. Anyway, she wrote a thesis in sophmore year concerning refractive shield theory. It's what got her a place on the Lexington. She was the only reason I put myself through the optional two years of advance quantumn theory" He finished and looked around. "Perhaps Lieutenant Blakus and I should get to work on the shuttles" He offered.
<TAG Blakus>
Making their way to the shuttlebay, Tiberian and Blakus began to work on preparing the shuttles, summoning engineers for the technical part, and any trained marine pilots to fly them. As he finished realigning the shield matrix on one shuttle, he gestured to Martinez who was working with him.
"Jose, do me a favour. Keep those two pilots in a cell until we can hand them over to the Valnot government. And don't let Commander Galwyn anywhere near them. Apparently their tinkering with science for war has got her a little riled"
The two men exchanged looks and laughs before looking up to notice a conn lieutenant staring down at them.
"I'm sorry Colonel, but what are you doing?" the man asked, as Tiberian and Martinez downed tools and stood up.
"Well, I'm trying to help Lieutenant Blakus and Commander Galwyn save all our lives as it happens mister. Does that inconvenience you in some way?"
"Sorry sir, but Commander Pride needs all these shuttles to help with our evacuation"
"Who is Commander Pride, and what evacuation?" Tiberian asked, somewhat annoyed about being out of the loop. He held up a hand before the lieutenant had time to respond, deciding on finding out for himself. He gestured to Blakus to join him, as he tapped his commbadge.
=/\=Wong to Commander Pride. Would you mind joining me in shuttlebay one please, and please bring the Captain with you=/\=
Within moments the two officers arrived, and Tiberian turned, putting a question to the new arrival.
"Forgive me Commander, we haven't met, but can I ask why we are evacuating, and why are we using these shuttles? Commander Galwyn and Lieutenant Blakus have devised a method that might save this system"

"Perhaps Lieutenant Blakus and I should get to work on the shuttles" Wong offered after his moment of scientia (girlfriend inspired).
"Very well sir," Blakus said. They departed leaving Tiana and her colleague to their own devices for now. Blakus waved up at Ensign Bligh as well, he wasn't totally convinced by Wong's idea, but he thought it was worth a go and so he didn't say anything, yet.
Blakus was working on one of the shuttles with Lieutenant Mattheson and Ensign Taylor, they were realigning the shield grids, "Ugh, this is far too complicated a job for shields..." Blakus muttered as he stared at the equations on his tricorder. His colleagues agreed.
"...trying to help Lieutenant Blakus and Commander Galwyn save all our lives as it happens mister. Does that inconvenience you in some way?" Upon mention of his name Blakus turned around to see what the noise was about, and he saw Colonel Wong and Sgt. Major Martinez in heated discussion with a lieutenant. The CEO paused in his work, signalling for Mattheson and Taylor to continue with the modifications. Wong saw that Blakus was watching and signalled him over.
=/\=Wong to Commander Pride. Would you mind joining me in shuttlebay one please, and please bring the Captain with you=/\=
"What's going on sir?" Blakus asked as he approached Wong and Martinez, standing next to the shuttle adjacent to the one Blakus had been working on. Wong explained as much as he knew. How are these shuttles going to help? he thought, They're not going to be much use for evacuating civilians, it wouldn't be worth it.. The Captain and someone that Blakus didn't know, but assumed to be the new Helm Officer entered the bay.
Wong immediately asked the new officer the question, "Forgive me Commander, we haven't met, but can I ask why we are evacuating, and why are we using these shuttles? Commander Galwyn and Lieutenant Blakus have devised a method that might save this system."
Commander Pride explained the situation and just as Wong was about to begin an argument Blakus, standing beside Wong, interrupted. "If I may sirs," he began. Here we go, he thought with trepidation, he continued, "But I believe that contrary to Colonel Wong's opinion" he glanced at the SMO, "I do not believe we need to use the shuttles anyway. So if you need them Commander Pride, Captain, you can have them. Me and Commander Galwyn can accomplish this, with some effort, by affixing a device over the deflector itself.
"I know Colonel," Blakus kept going, "That we have already started on the shuttles but I think we can do this without them, in fact, it would avoid the complicated modifications that modifying the shields requires."
Blakus was well aware that he had waffled on a bit, but he thought it necessary. He really wanted to do this his way, the feeling of control empowered him.

Pride heard the summons to report to the shuttle bay along with the captain. He looked at the captain and the first officer for clues on what was going on. He had only been aboard for a short time and already he was getting people mad. He thought maybe leaving the scavenger was not the best idea. Up until now he was the acting Xo and got use to not being yelled at.
He followed the captain back down the the shuttle bay or at least what was left of it. To see officers and crew working on the shuttle. That's when the colonel tore into him and he was not happy about it.
Looking at the captain he wondered if this was some test to see how he would handle the problem. " I'm sorry we haven't met before now Colonel, I just came aboard and was briefed on the bridge. I was suggesting idea's to save the ship not the solar system, thats a little beyound my scope. If you have idea's on how to do that then by all means go ahead. My concern for the moment is the safety of the ship and her crew as cold as that may sound."
" I was hoping to lighten the load of the ship and use the shuttle's to pull us into warp. Even now I dont know if thats possible, but it was a solution I offered at the time. I didn't even know what you were working on until now. All I know for the moment is one planet is gone and another had its atmosphere burned off. Sounds to me that saving the system might not be the best idea. From all accounts people here seem to be in a rush to kill them selves and that the prime directive may play a part in that. We are not suppose to interferre with there natural course of action"
He knew he wasn't winning any points with anybody, but he had long learned that somebody always needed to play the devils part. " I will how ever obey the orders of the captian on what ever course of action she deems fit."

Tiberian sighed and scowled sideways at Blakus.
"Well you could have told me before we started. If I'd known I'd have spent my time doing something slightly more productive, like trying to get my men off the surface" he turned to face Pride.
"Commander Pride, I apologise for being slightly blunt earlier, but I was a little stressed. However, I fail to agree that the Prime Directive would apply to this situation. We aren't witnessing a natural evolution of these species, but a right wing faction playing with chroniton warheads. These people have technology, they are just wielding it like a toddler with a gun. It is our obligation to stay and help them. However, as you said, it is the Captain's decision, and I too will stand by that"
<TAG Captain Cir'Kem>
Tiberian nodded.
"Then irrespective of this I would like the opportunity to rescue my men from the southern hemisphere of Valnot. I could do it with only one shuttle. If I have your permission Captain, I could be back within the hour"
<TAG Captain Cir'Kem>
Tiberian nodded and separated himself from the rest of the group, beckoning to Martinez.
"Get two sets of survival kit and meet me in that shuttle in five minutes. We're going to get our men back"
Tiberian moved and entered the shuttle he had been formerly working on, powering it up, and rerouting power from the modification to the primary systems. He needed to restore communications and transporters as a priority, but unfortunately the relays had been badly shorted in the EMP. He theorised, working out that in theory he could route the power flow through the secondary EPS relays, so long as he deactivated the warp core in order to compensate for the power flow. However, the relays could only accomodate one system. Tiberian settled on the communications array, deciding the need to communicate with the away team, and to call for backup, far outweighed a speedy evacuation. He would have to set the shuttle down, but that shouldn't be too bad. Martinez arrived moments later, dumping two backpacks in the rear of the shuttle and taking his place at the co-pilots chair. Tiberian powered the engines and set off through the atmospheric containment field, flying towards Valnot at maximum impulse. Within minutes they approached the atmosphere and Tiberian took them in, slowing to thrusters.
"Entering the ionosphere" Martinez reported "Turbulence is coming up ahead"
"Adjusting navigational deflector to compensate. Begin sending out a broad frequency hail to the away team. Tell them to activate their emergency transponder, we should be close enough to detect it"
The men waited, and within moments a flickering light appeared on the screen. The shuttle banked left, and slowed as it approached. A microfusion flare shot into the sky, and Tiberian brought the shuttle into an almost complete stop. Lowering the shuttle into a clearing of tall grass. He opened the rear hatch and stood from his seat. Sticking his head out of the shuttle, Tiberian waved to his men to join him, all of whom were stomping slowly towards the shuttle, rifles slung. Suddenly a burst of energy hit one of the men in the rear of the company, felling him with a shriek of agony.
"KEEP MOVING" Tiberian yelled, drawing his phaser and running out into the high grass. The purple blades came almost to his chest, and thankfully so, as he dived to the floor to avoid another blast. His men were running into the shuttle, providing wild covering fire at the unseen assailant. Tiberian dragged himself forward on his belly until he came to the wounded private, his leg laid open by the energy blast. Grabbing him across his broad chest, Tiberian began to haul him backwards towards the shuttle. The progress was slow, and the phaser shots were becoming worryingly more accurate. It was now he wished that he had restored power to the transporter. Finally reaching the shuttle, Tiberian handed over the man to some of the other marines and slammed his hand on the door control. Running to the pilot's seat he began the pre-flight sequence, and shot the shuttle into the atmosphere, the inertial dampeners barely having time to kick in. As the shuttle steadily climbed, the signals of three pursuing fighters entered sensor range, gaining on them fast. Tiberian activated the comm system.

"Well you could have told me before we started. If I'd known I'd have spent my time doing something slightly more productive, like trying to get my men off the surface"
Blakus had had a retort prepared for the inevitable annoyance that Wong would show with him, but he decided to withhold it and remain calm, "I was willing to go along with your plan Colonel," he said, "But when we found out that Commander Pride here wanted the shuttles for evacuation, I merely suggested, that we let him have the shuttles to help the ship and we'll find another way around the problem."
Blakus was pleased with himself that he had remained calm despite the stressful circumstances, but it appeared that the SMO had only been half listening, he went onto apologise to Commander Pride, so Blakus went off to clear up his equipment. He watched as Colonel Wong somehow got permission to rescue his team from Valnot, and started gathering up his team. He's keeping himself busy... Blakus thought. Almost as busy as I was back in the deflector maint-
He tapped his commbadge. =/\=Blakus to Commander Galwyn. It appears we have reverted to our original idea Tiana, do you want to suit up?=/\= The channel closed once the CScO had replied. Half-hoping that she did not mind him calling her Tiana all the time, Blakus made his way to Deflector Control once again.
He stumbled into the junction room and greeted Tiana and her science colleague. He looked up the dark and dreadful shaft where the subspace coils were located, "How's it going Bligh?" he called to his engineer, who was still in the harness, but, he was on the last coil now.
"Almost finished sir" Bligh looked down and flashed a triumphant grin, Despite how worn out he must be, he's still that enthusiastic.
Now Blakus liked to consider himself an enthusiast, an optimist; in an odd eccentric sort of way. But, there were limits to how far he would go, sometimes he was forced to be a realist, not because he necessarily wanted to, rather because his job called for it. Plus, there was the perceived risk of seeming snide, if he was continually being eccentrically optimistic - not as in jumping around, but just being eccentrically upbeat and, well, strange - then people were going to think he was being ignorant of their situation.
"Ok sir," he suddenly addressed Tiana, "If you're willing to do this I will instruct Lieutenant Holland to join you. It will probably take us a couple of hours to replicate all the parts we need, we have most of them already in storage. I'll be in engineering for the time being." Blakus hoped that Tiana didn't see him as dodging responsibility, perhaps it was the price payed for feeling so responsible for your department.
<Tag: Tiana>
Blakus left Deflector Control for what he hoped was the last time during this crisis, he couldn't see himself back in there anytime soon, not if he could help it anyway.
He entered engineering and was almost surprised by the sight of it, it had been a while since he had been there. It was then that he felt the tiredness wash over him. He was utterly worn out. The CEO stopped just after entering and leant over, hands on his knees and sighed. "Sir?" Blakus instantly stood up straight and looked at who was talking to him, Lieutenant Holland stood before him looking concerned. "Are you alright sir?"
Blakus let out another sigh and arched his back backwards, he walked past Holland, who promptly followed, towards the warp core. "Oh fine Holland, just fine. What's the latest status report?"
They reached the core, which was as active and in as good shape since the start of the mission, Shame about a lot of the rest of the ship... Blakus thought, he was darkly amused by the whole situation. Holland handed him a padd, Blakus took it and scanned through, only half interested in the details. "Yep, yep, yep.. mmm that's exciting." Blakus mumbled bitterly over the report on all the latest repairs, he chucked the padd away and it clattered into a console somewhere else in engineering.
"What would you say to another zero-g walk Lieutenant?" Blakus asked Holland.
"The external mounting of the graviton pulse sequencer?" Holland guessed the objective of the walk.
"Uh, yes." Blakus had had to think of that one. Tired! He wandered towards his office for a very very short break, then he would be back at the engineering main console.
"I'm willing sir."
"Good, I'll be in my office for a few minutes."

Scene : Deflector Control, Deck 23, USS Victory
"Cmdr Blakus . How's it look on your end Mac ?"
I think I've got all the necessary power and interface cables spliced.
"Alright. I've got the converter here calibrated. Blakus ?"
"Sir?"
"Prepare to initialize the system.. On my mark."
"On your mark, sir."
"Three. Two. One. Mark."
"System is in startup."
James pulled himself out of the gutted console, got to his feet and proceeded to walk across the room to where cmdr Blakus sat, at the primary interface console for Deflector Control.
James pointed to the secondary data monitors, "Show me the alignment, relative strength and balance of all forward navigational deflector systems."
"Just a moment sir," Blakus hit a series of commands. The necessary schematics popped up.
"Okay.." James analyzed the schematic, slowly rotating it about different angles. He eyed the deflector fields, highlighted in blue hues of varying intensity, denoting varying strength.
"Alright. Confirmed. We're back at startup configuration." James reached toward the console, "Let me take control. Monitor the power flow, make sure I didn't make any mistakes with that converter."
"Yes, sir."
James typed a series of commands.
"Okay.." James nodded as he rechecked his work, "We should be back in synch with navigation and propulsion now. Lets just run a few diagnostics to see if it responds as required.. Well I think that it you Engineers can handle the rest I have a ship to run smiling ‘Blakus "Aye, sir." Commander I will need my tools back our ship ops officer cry every time I put I a request for new Tools ‘
“ “oh yeah there you go you may wont to clean it smiling James exited the room and tapped his comm. badge, "Matthew to Wilson--"
meet me on Deck nine cargo holding room 3 we have a lot of work to do to make room for any evacuates once they come on board secure. comm.line to Starfleet Operations I need a up-Date on that Taskforce .

Nika let Pride explain for himself the situation with the evacuation because she thought he would do a better job of it, though she wished she could step in and calm down the situation, since Wong seemed a little upset. But once Pride had explained the situation, and Blakus had stepped in, the situation quickly resolved itself.
Both of the officers looked to her to resolve the possible Prime Directive issue, but Nika knew the answer without having to think too much about it. “There's not a problem with the Prime Directive; the Federation has been in contact with them for some time now,” and that hadn't been Nika's decision. “As Colonel Wong said, we have an obligation.”
“Then irrespective of this I would like the opportunity to rescue my men from the southern hemisphere of Valnot. I could do it with only one shuttle. If I have your permission Captain, I could be back within the hour”
The situation being what it was, Nika didn't want to let Wong go to the station, but nor did she want to leave the marines on Valnot, so she approved his trip. “Get them back safely,” she said, and Wong was dismissed.
She'd made it back to the bridge, after leaving strict orders with Pride, Galwyn, and Blakus that they were to report any changes in the situation to her immediately, when she next heard from Wong. =/\=Wong to Victory. Prepare to receive me very quickly, and with a lot of company=/\=
=/\=Understood=/\=Nika replied. =/\=We're monitoring your approach.=/\= And that monitoring said it would be a close call for Wong's shuttle, if the ones pursuing decided to use a burst of power to try to cut him off.
“Fire across the bow of the back pursuing shuttle,” Nika ordered. The advantage of having three shuttles pursuing Wong's was that the Victory could hit at least one easily. Although Nika would prefer to just convince the Valnot shuttle to turn around.
The phaser shots from the Victory slowed the pursuing shuttles down some, and as soon as Wong got close enough that he was firmly within the protective bubble of space the Victory could make, the shuttles turned around. The Victory might be crippled, but she could still fight, and her weapons were better than the Valnot's (even if the Starfleet officers weren't willing to use their weapons in the same way).

Looking over at the captain he found himself disagreeing with her, in his mind the prime directive was a concern. No matter how he looked at it this was a internal problem for the local goverment and its citizens. He kept it to him self just in case there was information he didn't have and not wanting to push the issue anymore.
Looking back over at Galwyn and Blackus " Okay what is it your hoping to pull off and how can I help. I'm a pilot so some of my knowledge is somewhat limited unless you want to know about the gravity wells and things like that floating around out there. Which seems to be quite a few. Not to mention the changes in the space where the planet just blew up. Anyway tell me what you need because it sounds like the captain is going to go with your plan for the moment"

OOC: Back Post for Cmdr. Desert Pride:
"Okay what is it your hoping to pull off and how can I help. I'm a pilot so some of my knowledge is somewhat limited unless you want to know about the gravity wells and things like that floating around out there. Which seems to be quite a few. Not to mention the changes in the space where the planet just blew up. Anyway tell me what you need because it sounds like the captain is going to go with your plan for the moment."
Blakus was caught by the new officer as he wandered back to his picking up of the shuttle-mod equipment. He turned back to him, smiling slightly. Blakus could imagine it would be difficult arriving on a ship part-way through a mission. Mission? More like disaster... he thought. "Well sir, our plan entails this," he started, and then launched into explanation, "Basically, my team have modified the Navigational Deflector to absorb and radiate the overload of energy from the impulse drive. When we push its engines harder than we should that is, we may need to do that now considering the star is soon to explode...
"So," Blakus continued, "The CScO has also come up with a deflector modification to try and stabilise the star and possibly restore it. Our objective at the moment is to combine the two modifications so that both of the mods can be utilised. We're looking to accomplish this by affixing a graviton pulse sequencer/aligner, externally, to the deflector." Blakus took a breath, going through the whole thing had exhausted him as much as the act of actually thinking it up had.
"Do you know something about Nav Deflectors sir?" Blakus asked Pride then, "Considering your CNO status you may have knowledge of their intrinsic workings? If that's the case, perhaps you would be prepared for a zero-g walk..."
<Tag Pride>
The more personnel that could join Galwyn on the Deflector Dish the better in Blakus's opinion. He himself would likely not be going, not after what had happened last year.

Looking at Blackus and smiling for a moment " Well at least your asking me something I do know. Yes I do know a thing or two but I will need to know what it is you would like them to do. Nav deflectors are really cutt out for anything to extreme there two fined tune to much else but anything is possible'
Pausing for a moment " you want to ride out the storm and deflect the energy around around us if I"m correct. If so there might be away to do this with minimal power barring they aren't already damaged. I didn't check on my flight it the shuttle bay was a little clutterd so I was more or less focusing on a safe landing then taking a tour of the ship"

Tiana wasn't a 100% convinced by the idea of using shuttles and escape pods but so far she hadn't been able to think of a better plan. She and Martha were still in deflector control although they were now both helping with the repair work. =/\=Blakus to Commander Galwyn. Tiana picked up her discarded but now useful again PADD and started making final plans. It did not take Lieutenant Blakus long to return to deflector control
"Ok sir," he said "If you're willing to do this I will instruct Lieutenant Holland to join you. It will probably take us a couple of hours to replicate all the parts we need, we have most of them already in storage. I'll be in engineering for the time being."
Tiana nodded, understanding that the CE had other things on his mind. "I'm sure Lieutenant Holland, Crewman Hernandez and I can muddle through. Although If we're going to get this done with any margin of safety we'll need the parts in a lot less than a few hours."
The CEO sighed, he'd probably all ready known that. "I'll take care of it." Tiana said causing a brief smile to flicker across the lieutenant's face. He seemed relieved and headed back to engineering.
She hoped Lt Holland would not take long to arrive as she and Martha set to work.

Tiberian brought the shuttle to a jerky halt under the phaser cover of the Victory, thankful that it had been timed in such a way as to allow him to avoid the fire of the fighters, whilst also avoiding running in to the weapons of his own ship. The fighters veered off, obviously acknowledging the superior firepower of the Victory, and not thinking that the shuttle was worth risking their lives for. Tiberian brought the shuttle quickly into the hangar, powering down and opening the access hatch. He ducked out, followed by the two marines carrying the wounded private. Tiberian hit his commbadge.
=/\=Wong to Doctor Kapoor, I have medical emergency in shuttlebay one. Please send a transport team asap=/\=
He went to kneel beside the wounded marine, who was having a hypospray of fentanyl pressed to his neck. As the analgesic coursed into his system, the anguised look of pain on his face subsided, and his rapid breathing slowed slightly. Just over a minute later, four medical personnel bustled into the shuttlebay, one of them pulling an antigravity guerney with them. The two others hoisted him onto the guerney and carried him out of the room, using a tricorder to monitor his vital readings as they went.
"All of you are temporarily relieved of duty unless you're needed" Tiberian announced "Get some rest, some food, and if anyone wants to check on our friend in sickbay, do so now. You may b stood to at any time, so get moving" He held out a hand stopping Malloy "Sorry Lieutenant, but you're Acting CTSO for the time being. They may need you on the bridge"
He turned, to find Katie standing with him in the room, having been one of the medical personnel who had entered previously. She grabbed him in a fierce embrace, holding him tightly, which he reciprocated.
"Why do you always go off doing stuff like that?" she asked.
"It's my way" Tiberian shrugged with a smile "Anyway, I'd better be seeing to whatever needs doing. I'll see you in our quarters when all this mess is over"
"I'm off duty in a couple of hours. I'll make dinner if you like" she offered helpfully. Tiberian smiled.
"Ok, but don't expect me to be in on time" He strode from the shuttlebay, tapping his commbadge as he went.

“Cmdr Matthew was worried. True, he was always worried; the shear size of This Operation meant that there was always something of concern going on somewhere...however, he was more on edge than normal.
There were two major sources for his anxiety, two red flags that just would not go away.
"Problem Number 1," he huffed, his hands clasped tightly behind his back. The possible Evacuation of two planet at the same time The Logistics a long was mind blowing .
“At that moment " Lt. Cmdrs Adrian Macedon & Jennifer Day enter the Hol-Deck- Lt. Cmdr Macedon is one of the senior victory Operations officers along with Lt Cmdr Day on Board with any Kind of exercise beside Cmdr Matthew .
“Matthew had brought in to help out with the Logistical side of this operation the mass moving of this many People at one time would not be easy to say the lest”

"Any new information, Matthew asked.
“Commander Macedon didn't even need to consult his PADD; he'd been going over this information with members of ship science as well as other Departments for the better part of the morning already. "Not much new here,

Teal: Lt.Cmdr. Blakus Green: Lt.Jr. Holland
Andae was brought out of his tired trance by Ensign Taylor. She nudged him. "Wha-? Oh sorry Ensign, did you need something?"
"No sir.. just making sure you're alright..."
"Well thankyou Ensign, carry on." Strange... he thought, What was wrong with her? No one wanted to tell the CEO that he had been about to fall asleep in his office chair. Blakus got up and walked out of his office. He was sure there had been something he was supposed to do, But no, Tiana's handling that.. he thought in relief. It had been nice of her to take that responsibility off his hands. He thought of the team that was preparing to take a walk on the Victory's Nav Deflector and realised he would be needed at the main engineering console.
The CEO reached the fondly named 'pool table' console, and noted that Ensign Bligh was standing on the other side of it. They looked at each other, Blakus spoke, "I assume that the Subspace Coil repair is complete?" he asked the junior engineer in a rather subdued business-like voice. Bligh nodded in return and so did Blakus in acknowledgement. "Then now we wait and see if Holland and Tiana can do this."
Lieutenant Philip Holland marched through the corridors on his way to Commander Galwyn. It was to be his second zero-g walk of the day. Not that he minded at all, but he did find it strange that his chief engineer had shunned a walk twice now. He'd declared himself willing to go, so he eliminated that line of thought, considering it slightly unfair on Lt. Blakus.
He arrived. He saw that Commander Galwyn and another science officer were there already and so came to attention, "Lieutenant Holland at your disposal, sir." He paused for a moment before adding, "May I suggest we make a move as quickly as possible, time may be of the essence."
