Captain Gus Weill Chief of Starfleet Academy Training. San Francisco *******************************
Captain Gus Weill sat at desk; it didn’t feel like home, he wanted command of a star ship again. He sat looking through file after file, cadet after cadet. He had been asked to take over the position after Rear Admiral Temlette had been promoted to Commandant. Weill thought, with some regret that he wanted a change, that command was not everything, he now realised how wrong he was.
The door opened and a man entered, he was quite big, very young and totally what you wouldn’t expect for an Admiral especially a training officer.
Temlette: " Captain, meeting with the CnC"
Weill: " Me sir?"
Temlette: " Yes you, he wants to meet his newest member"
Weill: " OOOOO"
Weill got up, closed his computer and walked with the Admiral along the corridor, across the park, he stopped next to an old man,
Weill: "Boothby, I wont walk across the grass"
Boothby: " If my father heard you say that, you wouldn’t be able to laugh"
Weill: "I can well believe it, how is the cyndic himself?"
Boothby: He wants to come back"
Weill: " Good show"
Weill continued to walk and he knew that even the Commander in Chief of Starfleet forces wouldn’t object him stopping to talk to Boothby Jr, he couldn’t as Booth by would clip him around the ear as he used to.
They walked into a room; the office was huge and had a black desk that was about the size of the Ravens conference table.
Kermit: " Captain, welcome to the team, but you might not be so happy soon, but than you might be, Admiral Temlette, please sit down, make yourself feel at home"
Weill: " Thank you sir"
Temlette: "Thank you sir"
Kermit: " Now Captain, I have the bad new to tell you that you have been sent an offer of command from Admiral Magellan Lin, the Raven no less"
Weill: " I had only just left"
Kermit: " He wants you to go back and something is telling me you aren’t happy here, that quieter life you wanted, was not quite up to scratch"
Weill: " Alas yes, and I have been hoping for this"
Kermit: " Well you need to get back soon, the Raven will be returning to Assailant soon, but I am tying your commander hands, lets find out what he feels"
Temlette: " You really want to go back Captain to a life of danger and expertise and no paper to push?"
Weill: " I think I do sir"
Temlette: " Good good, you are a fine officer, who has done more in your few years than most, but you are a terrible staff officer"
Weill: "Thank you sir, I know what you mean"
After some time, after a meal and toast, that was given by the CnC of Starfleet Weill left, feeling bewildered. He had only recently lost something that he cared for and had though that he would never regain, but as soon as he had lost hope of command of that particular gem of a ship, he had regained it.
After walking back to the Academy, Weill walked into his office; it was of good size, bigger than a ready room as it had a small but good-sized conference table in the room also. Nothing was on the table except a few pads, but under was a set of 4 boxes that had work and objects of value from the Raven, but more noticeably they were personal items of Weills. Weill hadn’t emptied them, which was a good sign that he didn’t feel entirely at home, as he had emptied them and he also hadn’t set up his flat in the way it should have been, no boxes, but furniture.
An hour later when tidying his office and trying to get things localised to be beamed aboard the transport ship Weill heard the door chime, he walked over, quite tired and a little dusty. The door opened and it was Commander Jane Massie.
She was a woman of about equal height to Weill; she was slender, with blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.
Weill: "Um........................ Hi...."
Massie: " Good to see you to"
Weill: " Yes sorry it is just such a surprise, please come in, a drink... that’s if we can find the replicator"
Massie: " I heard about you getting the Raven back, I knew you couldn’t stay away long, you do anything to get away from me"
Weill: "I didn’t know you were still on earth, why haven’t you contacted me before now"
Massie:" I didn’t know, I just saw you com out of Kemits and rushed down to see you"
Weill: " We are honoured. Sorry, would you like to go out with me for the evening?"
Massie: " You do this every time, we have known each other intimately for years but every time, one of us goes off"
Weill: " That’s a yes, come on Commander"
Weill and Massie walked, Weill had know her for nearly 15 years, they had been friends at the academy and had got very close, but Weil had let his career go ahead, she had remained in her area of expertise, Biology. Weill had thought she was the only woman he would want to marry and he had got close to proposing, but never had. They found a restaurant, it was quiet and very warm, and Weill took his tunic off as he had his waistcoat.
After a few hours, the two separated, Weill still hadn’t plucked up courage. He went back to his flat and than was told that the transport would be there in 4 hours, he felt he needed some rest but everything had bee sorted. He napped for 2 hours.
Whe the chime told him it was time to awake, Weill felt clear headed.
Transport Chief: " Captain sir, prepare to beam up, we have the co-ordnates of your possessions"
Weill: " Thankyou, ready when you are"
Weill beamed up and he was on his journey back to the outer edges of the area that belonged to the Federation..............

Dan sat in his Office filling out yet another progress report to Starfleet Command. That was alot of what he seemed to do lately; paperwork. The door-chime went off on the door.
Dan: Come in.
The door slid open, and in walked Peter Belenia, his Asst Head of R&D. Peter was usually carrying a PADD containing information on one project or another. This time he wasn't.
Dan: Yes, Peter, what can I do for you?
Peter: Actually I wanted to check on you. You didn't seem yourself in that Briefing this morning. You give plenty of effort into the work, but you're heart doesn't seem to in it anymore.
Dan sighed, then put the PADD down and pushed it away. He looked back up.
Dan: You're absolutely right. I was all gungho about the Project when I got here. But lately, I just can't seem to get into it anymore. I don't know what it is.
Peter: I can tell you what it is. You miss being a Chief Engineer. You miss being out in Space.
Dan: You think I miss the challenges? You think I miss the rigors of keeping all those systems working in synch with one another, having to keep one little thing from undoing everything?
Peter: Yes, I think you do. You like the uncertainty of a starship Engine Room.
Dan: Ya know, you're absolutely right. This morning, I saw a maintenance team go by and just about stopped them and asked them if I could join them in whatever they were doing. Ya know what I should do? I should go back. I want to go back. I want to go back to the Raven. I'll check if Nephi wouldn't mind being bumped down from his position. Thanks, Peter.
Peter nodded and walked out of the room. Dan went to the console and accessed the Personnel files. He checked the manifest of the Raven. He wondered who was in Command now with Captain Weill being posted on Earth. He then noticed a particular line on the Raven manifest:
Commanding Officer: Captain Gus Weill
So he had returned himself. Dan checked the records and saw that Weill was currently on a transport ship back towards this sector. Dan opened a subspace comm-link to the transport ship. Soon, Captain Weill's image appeared.
Weill: Dan! Good to see you again. What can I do for you.
Dan: I've read from Personnel records that you're returning to the Raven?
Weill: Yes, I'm enroute to Starbase Assailant to meet them now. Why?
Dan: Because I want to come back as well. I need to get back into Space again.
Weill: Oh, Omicron not turning out to be what you wanted?
Dan: Unfortunately, no. I miss the rigors of Space. Can I come back?

Seeing Dantrek on the screen opposite, he wasnt sure weather to accept him or not. He didnt want the ship to think everyone might be replaced by past crew members.
Weill: " Are you sure you up to the rigors os space, i mean you are getting on a bit, 130 isnt it, also you are used to a comfey office and most importantly, being in charge.......... could you handle being subordinate to 3 people"
Dantrek: " It would actually be quite a relief...... even at my age sir"
Weill: " Good than, can you get to the ship ASAP"
Just as the face of Dantrek vanished Weill was sent a visual communique, it read.
TO: CAPTAIN GUS WEILL, COMMANDING OFFICER, USS RAVEN, BETA SQUADRON, 1ST FLEET, SECTION 47
FROM: REAR ADMIRAL MAXWELL HUNTER, COMMAND OFFICE, STARFLEET COMMAND.
MEETING WITH YOUR TRANSPORT, TO CARRY OUT INSPECTION ON THE USS RAVEN.
Weill was curious, he hadnt met his old friend in a while, soon enough he found out what the situation was about, the shuttle did indeed meet up with Rear Admiral Hunters personal shuttle, Weill waited at the gangway for the Admiral, the doors opened and the grey haired tall Admiral walked through, he looked better than the last time Weill had met him.
Hunter: " Could to see you Gus, i hope this is to unpleasant an experiance for you, if you dont mind i need to talk to you in private, have you quarters?"
Weill: " Yes sir, please follow me"
When they arrived at the small quarters that had been designated for Weill, the Admiral put his dispatch case down and gestured at Weill to sit down.
Hunter: " I am here to cause havoc"
Weill: " Thats what i do sir, i dont need the help"
Hunter: "Yes Yes i know, i am now on the active list again but no real job, so it was suggested i visit a ship on the pretense of inspection, i thought here better than the USS Raven"
Weill: " It will be good to have you aboard sir, and you appearing to be an Inspector will keep them on their tows."

Soon after the Raven exited the Briar Patch, Nephi got a message.
"Bridge to Lt Jacobson. We're recieving a transmission for you from Starbase Assailant."
"Very well, patch it through to my Office."
He walked into his Office and sat down at the desk. He tapped the console, activating the comm-link. A familiar orange face appeared on the view screen.
"Commander Trek! Good to see you again. How ya doing? I heard you got posted as CO of Omicron Shipyards."
The face on the screen sighed. "Well, Nephi, turned out that Omicron wasn't what I really wanted. I've spoken with a couple people, and I'm coming back to the Raven. Sorry to boost you out of your position."
Nephi smiled. "I don't mind at all! To tell you the truth, this mission was a little much for my first time as Chief Engineer. You can have it."
"Good. I'm looking forward to being back on a starship again. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have things to take care of."
"Certainly. It'll be good to have you back, sir."
"Thank you. Trek out."
Nephi sat back in the chair as the image disappeared. He would be glad to have someone more experience leading the way, making the hard decisions. But the peace didn't last long.
"Bridge to Lt Jacobson. Sorry about this, but you have yet another transmission, this time from Starbase Bellicose. Should I ask them to wait?"
He sat up. "No, no. I'm done with the last one. Put it through." On the screen appeared a Vulcan Commodore Nephi didnt recognize. "Yes, Commodore?"
"Greetings, Lt. I am Commodore Sonak, Commanding Officer of the USS Vesuvius-A. I've heard that you've been relieved from your position as Chief Engineer of the Raven."
Nephi sat bolt up. How did she know? "Well, yes ma'am. But how did you find out so quickly? I just heard about it myself."
"Being on a Starbase has its advantages. Anyway, to business. I have an opening for Chief Engineer, as I just promoted mine to First Officer. Your service record looks quite good. I'd like you to be my Chief Engineer."
Nephi was amazed. "Really? The Vesuvius is on the best ships in the Fleet. Plus its quite experimental. You're sure you wouldn't prefer someone with more experience?"
"I would prefer you, Lt. Do you accept or no? I do have plenty other eager candidates."
"Oh well, yes! I most certainly do accept."
"Very good. I expect you to get to Starbase Bellicose as soon as possible. I understand the Raven is about to get back to Assailant?"
"Yes, ma'am. I could be at Assailant in a day, if I hurry."
"Excellent. I look forward to seeing you. Sonak out."
Nephi ended the transmission. He sat back and stared at the wall in amazement.

The transport ship was within minutes of Starbase Assailant; Weill had been relaxing in an attempt to prepare himself for the crew. He wondered what sort of state they would be in, this wasn’t a moan about Commander Majeski or Commander Dixon, but when a ship goes through a hard mission and the Commanding Officer is absent with no sign of return than things can be quite difficult. He wondered weather they knew who their new first officer was, he had asked that it shouldn’t be gazetted before he approves it, so the only person who would know would be Dan Trek and Weill had asked him discreetly to keep that under raps. The reason for this odd action was, Weill had never been able to add a bit of drama into a situation and he didn’t want the crew expecting their old Commanding Officer, especially one who appeared to have a very short assignment.
Transport Captain: “ To all passengers, we are entering the Assailant system, would you please group in the main recreation lounge”
Weill was pleased he was there, but than thought recreation lounge, it is more like a morgue than a lounge. He chuckled than went off to the “lounge”, just as he exited his door, he met Admiral Hunter, who looked quite cheerful, but also looked slightly green.
Weill: “ Are you ok Admiral, you don’t look to good”
Hunter: “ Yes I am fine, just be pleased to get off this swaying, tin bucket”
Weill: “ When did you last command a star ship sir?”
Hunter: “ A few years………… yes I know I will need to get used to it again”
Just as Weill and Hunter entered the lounge, on the main screen there was the display of the absolutely vast and unbelievable extensive Star base Assailant, with ships surrounding it, shuttles and work bees and cargo ships, not to mention transports wherever you looked, this made Weill think, he could have been Chief of Star base Operations there. Than he thought, all far to complex.
The small ship docked into the huge bays, the station dwarfed even a Sovereign class star ship that was orbiting the stationary lollypop. After a few minutes the whole lounge heard the clunk that meant the ship had docked and the calm voice of the Captain came though.
Transport Captain: “ lease disembark, thank you for being such well behaved passengers on this trip”
Weill immediately looked at the Admiral and could see what he was thinking so he thought what better to actually give a voice to one of the millions of thoughts that people share at a moment like this.
Weill: “ “Thank you for being such well behaved passengers” makes us sound likes school children”
Hunter: “ You read my mind Captain”

Alex was sitting in the Captain's ready room. He still didn't think of it as his room. He was sure that Starfleet had someone in mind to take over the ship, and frankly, Dixon couln't wait. The burdens of command had weighed heavily on him since Majeski had gotten sick.
On his desk were several neat piles of PADDs that he had spent the last several hours reviewing. There were readiness reports, personel reports, repair reports. Lists of damages to the ship that would probably have to be done at Starbase, lists of required supplies. More lists than he had thought possible. Being in command was tiring, but this was depressing.
There were some high notes though. There were several PADDs that detailed some unusual scientific observations that had been taken while the Raven had been in the Briar Patch. The most interesting was a "gravity anomaly". Astrometrics had noted a mysterious vortex which they thought was caused by a gravitic anomaly. However, the thing had defied all attempts to scan it. Alex was rather depressed because he hadn't had the time to look at it. He was just hearing about it now. Not much of a Chief Science Officer, he thought to himself.
Regretfully, he had put the PADD aside and recommended that the phenomenon be examined by another ship.
The only PADD left in front of him displayed a very short list of red characters. He had been looking at it for about minutes, not sure where to begin. He closed his eyes and thought back one of the lists' sources.
Nathan Harper had walked onto the bridge after the destruction of the Dominion ship
"Sir. I am afraid to say that we lost a man over there." Nathan said.
Alex closed his eyes. That was the fourth crew member that had been lost on the mission. "I'm extremely sorry to hear that. Did you know the man well?"
"Yes Sir. I will make sure his family is informed." Nathan replied.
"Thank you Ensign. I will also contact the family and give them my condolences." Alex took a careful look at Nathan. "You aren't looking too well, ensign. Why don't you take some time to yourself in your quarters. I think that this mess is all cleaned up for now.
"I will return to my quarters and get myself cleaned up. I will be back on duty within the hour, Sir."
"I don't think there's much of a hurry. I'll schedule a debriefing in three hours. Don't report back till then" Alex said.
"Very well. I will make my full report in the debriefing."
Nathan had turned and walked away, leaving an unhappy commander to wonder if anything could have been done differently.
Alex's thoughts returned to the present. That man's name, along with others were still on his list. In addition to sending a letter to each family, he was going to contact each family personally. The problem was, he didn't have the slightest idea as to what to say.
Alex turned and stared out his viewport. The passing stars seemed very lonely.

Amhil had once again left Majeski in the care of Brooks, deciding that he could handle it himself since he had been making a lot of progress in very little time. She had, however, told him to call her when there was the slightest change in Majeski's condition, good or bad. In the mean time she had found herself releasing one of the last of her patients, only leaving about 3 still in sickbay. She watched the crewman leave and sighed, thinking about a warm meal followed by a nice hot shower.. Daydreaming away, Amhil didn't hear the sickbay doors open when Zoarial walked in. "Hi Dr. Eddons, I felt that you might rejoice a little checkup to see whether I've fully recovered." The klingon said, and Amhil looked up. She smiled when she saw him. "I'm glad you decided to return, most of the people who are lucky enough to escape from this place would never think of returning voluntarily.." An evil grin appeared on her face and Zoarial's eyebrow shot up. It amused the doctor, because it looked like a pretty good imitation of a Vulcan. And she never would have thought a Klingon would ever remind her of a Vulcan. She gestured him to sit down on one of the empty biobeds and then grabbed a hand scanner. "So, no more dizzy spells?" She asked, and Zoarial shook his head. "Maybe something else out of the ordinary?" She continued, looking at the readout of the scanner. "No." Answered Zoarial, observing Amhil while she scanned him. "Just a bit tired, that's all." "I would have been amazed if you wouldn't been at least a tiny bit of tired after this whole ordeal." Amhil replied and sighed. "Hmm, well everything looks OK." She said and flipped the scanner off and put it back down. Zoarial got up and nodded. "Though I would suggest you get some sleep, lieutenant. But that's hardly anything to worry about." The doctor quickly added, now she still had the time to give a little advice. Truth to be told, he looked exhausted....for a Klingon. "I think we all could use a bit of sleep, you too, doctor." Zoarial answered and Amhil bit her lower lip, suddenly reminded of her own drowsiness, not to mention the slight nausea that she still felt. She was sure it would subside if she could rest for an hour or two. "I will, but I'm not quite done here yet....Now, off you go!" She said with a grin when she saw Zoarial did not march out of sickbay immediately as she had expected.

Zoarial in fact decided to stay for a little while. He was glad that he was completely recovered, something he didn't quite expect. He felt the air in sickbay pleasant, not at all similar to the hospitalsmell he was used to.
Zoarial knew that he might interfere with working crew, but he felt the necesity to stay a little while, or more like it occured: walk slowly towards the exit. He looked around and saw only minor wounds around him. But when he walked past the biobed of Majeski he had to stand still for a little while.
Zoarial didn't understand why the commander was still in sickbay. He guessed that it had to do with Majeski being a trancendant of the ancient elves, a race he had not have the pleasure encountering yet. He wondered weather they still existed somewhere in the universe.
The klingon hoped that the commander would be back soon enough and although he wasn't religious, the hope sounded almost like a prayer.
He turned because he felt eyes in his back. He looked straight in the face of Amhil, and she looked like she had been awake the full mission. Zoarial wouldn't be surprised if she actually was.
Zoarial: Dr Eddons, you really don't look good. You have got to save yourself now that you saved the whole crew. As I look around I see a competent crew of nurses. They can handle your absence. So I advice you to get a quick beauty nap, every minute counts! We will be back at the starbase in 2 days and in the worst possible scenario we might have to stay there for a while to do some major repairs. Get a quick rest now, to give you enough energy to pass the rest of this day. A good nights rest this night, and once we have arrived at the starbase you'll be able to sleep for some consecutive days.
<<amhil>>
Zoarial: Well, if you choose not to follow my advice I can pull my ranks and give you an order to sleep, but it would still be your decision. Please bear in mind that we're better off with a living nurse than a dead one Dr Eddons!
And with these words Zoarial walked the final meters towards the door. Hoping that Amhil would do what he had adviced her.
Zoarial too needed some rest, something he felt when he sat down in his quarters. He ordered the computer to disobey any preset alarms, and told her that he only wanted to be disturbed for VERY important matters.
After that command he rested his head on his pillow and fell asleep almost instantaneously.

As soon as Dan finished the conversation with Weill, he contacted Command and announced his resignation. He then immediately began preparations to leave.
A few hours later, there he was on the transport, on the way back to Starbase Assailant. The transport had dropped off new personnel for Omicron, and Dan talked the pilot into letting him hitch a ride back. It felt so good to be out in open space again. He looked at every abnormality that the sensors picked up, just out of interest and curiousity. The pilot thought he was nervous.
"Are you alright, sir? There's not much to worry about out here. No enemy ships for light years, and no charted anamolies in our path."
Dan chuckled, then looked at him. "No, Lt, I'm not worried. It's good to be out in a vessel again."
"Ah, I see."
Dan checked with the Starbase and saw that the Raven was about a day away at this point. He was excited. Roughly 24 hours and he would be back onboard.
"Lt, I'm going to take a nap. Wake me up when get to Starbase Assailant."
"Yes, sir."
*******************Hours later*******************
Dan felt himself being shaken slightly. "Sir? We're approaching Starbase Assailant."
Dan sat up. There it was, looming quite large in the viewport. "How long have I been asleep?"
"About six hours."
He sat up. A few minutes later, they docked, and he stepped out into the Shuttlebay.
"I'm halfway home."

Alex was sitting in the captain's chair on the bridge of the USS Raven. Commander Zoarial was slouched into the First Officers seat. Alex thought that he still looked a little tired after the difficult mission to the Briar Patch. He's a Klingon, he thought to himself, he'll get through it.
The bridge had been extremely quiet for a while now as they approached Starbase Assailant at Warp 4. It was the best speed that their Chief Engineer could give them right now without over exerting the engines. Alex looked around the bridge. Every station was being manned with crisp assurance and damage to the bridge had been mostly repaired. Things seemed to be back to normal, for the most part.
An unexpected voice broke the silence. "Sir, we're within range of Assailant."
"Thank you, Mr. Vegas. Hail the Starbase" Alex said.
Harper manipulated his console, then replied "Assailant has replied."
"On audio, ensign." Alex said, and Harper activated more controls. "USS Raven to Starbase Assailant. Requesting permission to dock for repair and resupply" Dixon asked.
"This is Commander Frras from Assailant Ops. Request granted. We're sending telemetry for you to docking bay 12A. Confirm receipt" a growling voice replied.
Vegas looked down at the navigation console, where a beeping sound suddenly began. "Receiving telemetry."
"Assailant, we are receiving telemetry. Please be advised that we have a captured Vorta aboard and would appreciate it if Starbase Security would take him off of our hands" Alex informed Assailant.
"A Vorta? How did you find a Vorta in the Briar Patch?" the voice at the other end of the line exclaimed.
Alex shook his head. An open channel was no place to explain, and he didn't have the time anyway. "That isn't important, Commander. Please have a detail from Security waiting for us when we dock. Raven out." At a nod from Dixon, Harper closed the channel.
Dixon glanced over at Zoarial. He still hadn't moved. Smiling to himself, Alex said "Zoarial, would you do the honour of docking the ship?"

OOC: sorry for the lenght but I felt like having some fun Luckily it had been a dreamless sleep, a sleep without any worries. The sleep had served it's purpose. When Zoarial woke up he felt reborn. He walked around in his quarters, and the little corner where his turtle used to sleep. Used to sleep was the right description, because the turtle was nowhere to be found. Zoarial: Computer, locate amfibious lifeforms on boardComputer: None Zoarial: Computer, when was the last recorded presence of any amfibious species in this room?Computer: 6 days, 11 hours, 7 minutes ago. Zoarial suddenly felt the fish soup of last week rise in his throat. Zoarial: Computer, give me the names and ranks of other crewmembers who have been in my quarters, and locate them.Computer: Lieutenant Vegas was present here 6 days, 11 hours and 10 minutes ago. Zoarial couldn't believe that his turtle had been pet-napped, so he rushed towards the bridge, because he would surely meet David there. Surprisingly he didn't have to walk all the way to the bridge, because he bumped into David Vegas on his way to the lift. David: Sir, Your presence is requiered on the bridge, I was about to go to your quarters. Zoarial: It seems that you have been there before last week mr Vegas, some minutes before my turtle went missing.David: Sir? I was walking down the hallway past your room when I smelled a horrible stench, I went inside your quarters, forgive me for that sir, and I found a reeking stone in the corner of the room. I checked it for lifesigns, because I know that you like animals, perhaps even if they don't smell so good. Signs were negative, so I threw the rock into the garbage disposer. Zoarial: That rock... was my turtle, but according to your description of how it smelled, I reckon that it must have died during my absence. Thank you for clearing this up for me mr Vegas, I will report to bridge right away. Dismissed.David: Yes sir. And both officers went their own ways. Zoarial entered the bridge and nodded towards Commander Dixon, after which he sat down in the FO chair. It still felt uncomfortable, and that together with the feelings about his dead turtle seemed to make Zoarial look very fatigued, while in fact he wasn't. Bored, Zoarial stared in front of him, with no idea whatsoever about what to do. Suddenly the starbase Assailant was clearly to be seen in the distance. But it didn't really excite Zoarial as much as it normally would have. Zoarial's thoughts were interrupted by a voice coming from his left. Alex: Zoarial, would you do the honour of docking the ship? Immideately Zoarial rose up and felt his energy flow through his body, for this was what he was on the ship for. Zoarial: Yes sir!And allthough it didn't take much work, Zoarial made sure that the Raven would travel the last kilometers to the starbase safely. Zoarial went out of warp speed and slowed down to ¼ impulse. When he was inside the perimeters of the dock he cut down the engines and switched on the thrusters. It didn't take much manouevering to get the Raven in the dock, because the computer had placed the vessel directly in front of it's destination. With precision, Zoarial realtered the course every second to make sure they wouldn't bump into something, and when they were inside, he cut the thrusters. Zoarial: The USS Raven is now in position Commander Dixon. With some satisfaction, Zoarial heared various tubes and tunnels clamp on to the Raven's hull, and smiling he sent a message through the entire ship. Zoarial: =/\= We're back.=/\=

Alex watched as the umbilicals began connecting to the Raven. After a short while, the ship was changed over to starbase power and the docking was complete. He turned to Zoarial and said "Good job. We have a few things to do before we can hand the ship over. Ensign Harper, could you come over here for a moment?" Nathan left his post and walked over to Dixon. "I would like you and Ens. Harper to supervise the transfer of the Vorta prisoner to Starbase Security. Take whatever precautions you deem appropriate."
<Zoarial, Harper>
"Good." Dixon tapped his comm badge. "Bridge to Lt. Jacobsen. There are going to be a pile of Starbase techs aboard to assist with the repair of the Raven. Make sure that you coordinate with them to get the ship repaired as quickly as possible."
<Jacobsen>
"Thank you, Lieutenant." Dixon left the bridge to settle the next problem that was on his mind. Stepping onto the turbolift, he said "Sickbay" as the doors closed, and it quickly delivered him to the correct deck. He left the turbolift and walked into Sickbay. Dr. Amhil reacted with surprise as he entered.
"Hi Commander, what are you doing down here?" she asked.
"I just wanted to know if you have any patients that you wanted transferred to Starbase Medical. Also I thought that a fast follow up examination wouldn't be a bad idea" Alex said.

Weill was tapping his fingers on the arm of a chair in the quarters that had been assigned to him. He was thinking about various things, how his career had developed, what he had been up to, what he was hoping and so on, than came a call on the communications system.
Computer: " Captain Weill can you report to star base Operations"
Weill: " Acknowledged"
Weill walked briskly as he hadn’t had a chance to go to the secure level, he could because he had clearance but he just hadn’t wanted to.
When he walked out of the turbo lift, he saw a buzzing centre of operations that was far bigger than he had imagined. Just as he was looking around, an Admiral walked over to him,
Magellan: " Congratulations on getting her back, thank god, I didn’t want to have to find someone else to put there"
Weill: " Thank you Admiral, it will be good to go back"
Magellan: " I didn’t think you would stay away long"
Weill: " You always were a good guesser"
Weill was lead by Admiral Magellan into his large, but not daunting office, it was very much his room; you could see the influence of the multi-layered trill everywhere. Weill sat down and had a drink; Weill always liked to see the Admiral when he came past, as Magellan was the man who Weill owed so much to. Half way through the drink there was a sound and it was a report that the Weill was coming into dock in a few minutes, Magellan got up and said lets see your prize dock and they went to the turbo lift and it didn’t take long to go to the observation deck, within about 2 minutes the Raven came though the doors.
The ship was gleaming, even though there were signs of ware and tare it was obvious that the ship was beautiful. Weill smiled and he couldn’t wait to get aboard, but he wanted to make his grand entrance later.

Dan had checked the sensors and saw that the Raven was due to arrive within a few minutes. He started packed what little belongings he had removed from their containers. He left his temporary quarters, planning on having Starbase Operations transport them over for him later.
He went to the turbolift. The Raven had been in the Briar Patch, he thought to himself on the ride to the observation deck. That meant that she would be a little worse for wear. But he would take care of that, with the help of Base Techies.
He reached the observation deck and stepped out of the turbolift. He spotted Captain Weill, standing alongside an Admiral. He walked towards them. As he reached them, but stopped a little behind. He watched the Raven glide in. She was indeed a little battle-worn.
"Looks like I have my work cut out for me, don't I," he said to the men that were unaware of his presence.
Both turned to look at him. Weill smiled.
"Hello again, Captain; Admiral," he said, nodding.

Nathan stepped out of the shower. His hair dripping all over the padds he was supposed to be filing into a report. He preffered showers with water compared to the sonic variety.
He tied a towel around his waist and got out another towl to dry his hair. The door chime went.
"Come." Nathan said, throwing a shirt on.
"The rest of your belongings Mr. Harper." A young crewman said.
"Thank you. You didn't have to bring them down. I told the officers in the shuttle bay that I would collect them later."
"It's no problem Sir. Honestly." The crewman said, and them left.
Nathan smiled as he opened the bag, a photo of his mates from the academy lay on the top of some more clothes.
Nathan continued to get ready for duty and reported to the bridge 30 minutes later where he stood at his station.
He was pleased to see that the Raven was slowly coming into space-dock. That would enable Nathan to give the security and tactical systems a thorough look over.
Nathan nodded. "Of course Sir. I will assign a security detail to accompany myself and Commander Zoarial with the Vorta and then security details will be posted along the route we will take to the Starbase Brig."
Dixon gave his approval and moved off to talk to someone else. Nathan turned to Zoarial. "We should probably get the Vorta off the ship as soon as possible."
<TAG Zoarial>
Nathan and the Commander left the bridge and headed down to the brig.
He tapped his comm badge. "Ensign Harper to security detail 2, meet me and Commander Zoarial in the Brig. We will be escorting the Vorta prisoner off the Raven."
=^= Aknowledged =^= Came the short reply.
Nathan then tapped his comm badge again. "Harper to security details 1,3,4 and 5 initiate secure-departure procedure gamma-theta. The hostage will be taken from the Brig on the Raven to holding unit 23 on the Starbase."
=^= Ok, Sir. We will initiate the secure-departure on your comm call =^=
"Right, just one more call to make." Nathan said, smiling at Zoarial.
The turbolift stopped and Nathan and Zoarial walked out, Nathan tapping his comm badge yet again.
"Ensign Harper to Starbase Comm control." He said.
=^= Go ahead Ensign =^=
"Can you patch me through to Starbase Security?"
=^= Sure, one moment please =^=
Some tapping and beeping came across the comm channel.
=^= This is Starbase Security =^=
"Ensign Harper here. Myself, Commander Zoarial and secuirty teams will be escorting a Vorta prisoner to holding unit 23. My security teams have it sorted but I thought you should know about it."
=^= Thank you Ensign. We will increase security around unit 23 =^=
"Aknowledged." Nathan said, terminating the comm link.
Zoarial and Nathan arrived at the Brig, Security detail 2 was waiting for them.
"Harper to Security teams 1,3,4 and 5. Are you in position?"
4 responses came informing that they were all ready and all non-essential personnel had been cleared from the corriders they would be taking.
"Lower the forcefield." Nathan said.
The Vorta stepped out of the brig and was immediately surrounded by the security officers.
Nathan and Zoarial took the lead.

Zoarial found it remarkable how depressed the vorta looked, and was glad that there weren't going to be any Jem'Hadar jumping from his sides.
It seemed that Nathan had taken all the necesary precautions, but Zoarial felt that he needed to be sure that the vorta was where it should be.
He thought back about the outcome of Mathew's intterogations, which was, to be frank, nothing. The vorta seemed not at all willing to spill any info about the reason he was in the briar patch.
Zoarial knew that the starbase had better interrogation facilities, torture equipment he used to call them, so he was confident that there would come some answers. Therefore he wanted every bit of information the vorta gave to be captured and sent to the Raven.
Zoarial: If you would excuse me mr Harper, I prefer walking at the rear of our expedition, I don't like any disturbances occuring behind my back.
<<nathan>>
Zoarial: No not at all, it's just a feeling, I feel more at ease when everything happens in front of me, that way I can react quickly.
The party arrived at unit 23, where 2 secutiry teams were awaiting the prisonner. A lieutenant stepped towards Zoarial.
Lt: Thank you commander, we will take the prisonner from here.
Zoarial: We have walked this far Lieutenant, and it will not at all bother us to walk a bit further, I want to be sure that this vorta is safely in the brig.
The 2 teams guided the vorta in its new home, and when the forcefield around the cell was raised, Zoarial eased up.
Zoarial: Thank you very much, any necesary paperwork can be patched through to the Raven.
Zoarial looked to his side and thought that Nathan looked a bit uncertain about what he should do next.
Zoarial: You can return to the raven immideately mr Harper, if you have any unfinished business there. I will stay here on the starbase to arrange some things. You are free to do what you want to do, as the Raven will have to be repaired and that will take some time.
<<nathan>>
Zoarial: Of course you can! Dismissed.
Zoarial walked to the nearest lift to see whether he could find someone to do the further interrogations.
OOC: I will make a small post on the starbase concerning the interrogation

Weill turned after the grand entrance of the great Intrepid class Raven, he saw the imposing figure of his old/new Chief Engineer, he was looking in the same direction as the Admiral, at the Raven. There was something in Magllens face that said he wanted command again. But than one day Magellen would and he equally hoped that Magllen might visit the Raven as a real life Admiral with legendary status is always useful, and most welcome. Weill aknowleged Dantrek than
Weill: "Welcome Commander, i am glad you are back, if you could go aboard the Raven ahead of me but dont tell them you know who i am, as i am hoping to make a interestingly dramatic entrance, is that understood Commander?"
Dantrek: " Yes of course sir, it will be good to have you back, if i may be excused i would like to see what has happened to my engineering and mak sure it hasnt been too mauled, even though i did have full faith in my successor/ precursor"
Weill: " Very good Commander, please go aboard and make yourself comfortable, oh and can you have a proper 3rd chair put along side mine, where the FO chair is but on the other side, that small padd is just uncomfortable."
Dantrek: " Of course sir" After Dantrek had walked in the other direction and the Raven had settled into her position, Amiral Magllen was called to go to the main observation deck by security.
Magellen: " And i thought life was going to be quieter on this station than on a starship"
Weill: " May i accompany you?"
Magellen: " Of course Captain, let me show you what station command is like and the interestig scenarios into which i am pulled"
Weill and Magellen walked quickly to the designated area and there was nothig it appears that the situation had been cleared up, Magellen momentarily looked irritated than said
Magellen: " Ah well, what can you do Captain, I must bid you goodbye and i hope your journey is productive"
Weill: " Thankyou Admiral, i hope to be back soon"

Dan headed off in the direction of the Raven. He entered a turbolift and went down a few decks. A little ways off was the umbilical that connected the ship to the starbase. He saw a small group of Engineers, an Officer and 2 technicians wearing utility jumpsuits. There were carrying the chair that the Captain requested to be installed, and were headed to the umbilical He walked up to them. The Officer was a Lieutenant.
"Excuse me, Lt. If you don't mind, I'll take over for you."
Both of the technicians looked at the Lt as he looked at Dan. The Lt looked from Dan, to the chair, and back to Dan. "I'm sorry, Commander, but I don't recognize you."
"That's not surprising, as I'm not assigned to the starbase. Captain Weill asked me to oversee this, so I'll take over for you."
The Lt nodded. "It's all yours, Commander." He walked away. Both technicians looked at Dan.
"Alright, gentlemen, let's go."
They headed into the umbilical. They walked onto the Raven. Dan was glad to be back onboard. As he walked down the corridor, two Engineers were working on a repair. Dan recognized them as Raven crew. One of them looked up. He looked at him, eyebrows raised in hopeful question. Dan smiled and nodded. The crewman smiled, and turned to his companion as whispered. The other one looked at, and they both beamed.
"Welcome back, sir," one said happily as Dan passed.
Dan was smiling as he entered a nearby turbolift. He stepped around the technicians to the back of the turbolift. "Gentlemen, I want one of you to ask whoevers in the center chair to move, if there is someone. I want to surprise them."
One of them nodded. The door opened, and they stepped out. As Dan entered the Bridge, a couple people looked up and looked surprise. Alex was sitting in the center chair. He was wearing a Command uniform Perfect, Dan thought to himself. While Dan hanged back behind the rail, The technicians came forward with the chair. "Excuse me, Commander, but we'll have to ask you to move."
Alex turned to look at them. "Why, is this chair being replaced? I see no need."
Dan then stepped forward and went around the rail. "No, actually its going next to you. I don't want you to get injured, and you'd be in the way."
Alex turned, and a look of surprise came on his face.
"Hello, Alex. I'm back."

"Thank you doctor. I'll see to getting your patients moved" Alex said as he left Sickbay and started making his way back to the bridge. It was nice to have a clean bill of health again.
Normally, the trip from Sickbay to the bridge took less than two minutes. Today, it took him almost 20. It seemed that he couldn't take 5 steps without some well meaning crewman coming up to him with a PADD carrying important information about the Raven, her personel or some other detail that he had to see and acknowledge.
It was with considerable relief that he finally managed to step onto the turbolift and say "Bridge." As he turned to face the door, another ensign waving a PADD was hurring in his direction. Trying not to smile, Dixon let the doors close.
The trip to the bridge was quite brief, and when the doors opened, Alex had a bit of a surprise. The bridge was empty. This was the first time that he had seen it abandoned since he had been assigned to the ship, and it was surprising how quiet it was. He walked to the middle of the room and looked around. The captain's chair, where he had been spending much of his time lately, drew his attention first. However, in the background was the Science Station, his actual post. He walked over to it and sat down. He had completely missed what might have been his only opportunity to work in the Briar Patch. He would be glad when he could hand over the Raven to whoever it was Starfleet had assigned as captain. He still hadn't heard who it would be.
In the quiet, he heard the humming sound of an approaching turbo lift. He quickly got up from the Science console, walked over to the captains chair and sat down just before the doors swished open, disgorging a skeleton bridge staff who efficiently took their positions. The ensign who had nearly chased him down outside of sickbay stepped off as well and handed Alex the PADD he had been waving with a slightly reproachful look. "Thank you ensign" Alex said, barely managing to keep a straight face.
His amusement evaporated when he read the PADD though. Immediately he turned to the tactical officer and growled "Mr. Briggs, get me Assailants Yard Superintendant."
"Yes sir" the man replied, and entered some commands into his board. After a few seconds, Briggs reported "Superintendant Dalar onscreen." Alex peered at the main screen as an Andorian appeared. "Can I help you?" he said wearily.
"Commander Alex Dixon, USS Raven. I was just given Assailant's repair schedule. I see that our ship is pretty far down the list" Alex noted.
"Repair assignments are given in order of arrival and necessity, Commander" Dalar replied. "There were several ships that arrived ahead of you that are in more dire need of repair than the Raven."
"There are two Packled freighters on this list ahead of us" Alex noted while waving the PADD. "I would think that a Federation ship of the line would take precedence over them."
"I have assigned a repair team to the Raven" Dalar said, starting to sound a little irritated.
Alex glanced at the PADD and looked back up. "A lieutenant and two technicians assigned to install a chair hardly constitutes a team, Mr. Dalar. Why are we getting a chair? I think that there is an excess of important repairs that could be completed before that."
Alex was distracted by his conversation with the Yard Superintendant, and didn't even notice as a couple of technicians walked up to him. "Excuse me, Commander, but we'll have to ask you to move"
Alex turned to look at them. "Why, is this chair being replaced? I see no need."
An unexpectedly familiar voice interuppted."No, actually its going next to you. I don't want you to get injured, and you'd be in the way."
Alex turned, and a look of surprise came on his face as he saw the large, orange figure.
"Hello, Alex. I'm back."
Dixon immediately stood up, walked over to Commander Trek and shook his hand, which completely engulfed Alex's. "Dan" he enthused, "it's great to see you again! What are you doing here?"
"I've been reassigned to the Raven as Chief Engineer" Trek replied, smiling calmly at Alex's confusion and decided to answer the question that he knew was coming. "I missed being out in space, and Omicron wasn't all the things that I thought it was going to be."
"I'm sorry to hear that Omicron didn't work out for you, but their loss is our gain. Lt. Jacobson was an excellent engineer, but it's nice to have you back" Alex said enthusiastically. "I assume that you're aware of what the Raven has been through lately?"
< Dan>
"Great. Well, Engineering is exactly where you left it." There was a sudden coughing sound from the view screen and Alex closed his eyes briefly in consternation. He had completely forgotten Superintendant Dalar when Trek had walked in. "Sorry, Mr. Dalar. Is there anything you can do to get the Raven moved up the queue?" Alex asked.
"I'll see what I can do Commander. Dalar out." The view screen went blank.
Alex turned back to Trek. "Well Dan, it doesn't seem that we're going to be getting much help from Assailant. Where do you think we should start our repairs?"
< Dan>

Dan nodded. "Yes, I am full aware. Nephi was gracious enough to send for a summary of the last mission and sent me a full damage report." He chuckled. "I think he was trying to give me the hint that he wanted me to do the work instead of him."
"And with me back, you won't need Assailant's help. You've got one of the best Starfleet Engineers in the Sector right here. Besides, I know Dalar, and when he realized I was back on the Raven, I think his estimate of the necessity to move us up on the queue was cut about in half. But anyway. Fortunately, Nephi's idea with the multiphasic shielding saved you the majority of your troubles. I think the best place to start repairs would be the EPS system. The majority of them took heavy damage, as evidenced by your overload earlier. Another critical we'll need to check is the Warp Nacelles and the Impulse Engines. From Nephi's report, they weren't shielded, which they couldn't be, since going out to work on such a shield would give an engineer enough exposure to kill them."
He looked around the Bridge. He thought the color of the duranium in the bulkhead was a little odd.. He pulled out a tricorder and scanned.
"And although the shield saved you the majority of your trouble, it didnt save all of it. Theres small amounts metal fatigue in that bulkhead over there, along with the rest of the Bridge. All of the Bridge systems will have to be inspected. Looks like I have alot of work ahead of me. With your permission, Commander, I'd like to head to Engineering so I can start on repairs. That and I want to relieve Nephi and surprise the Engineering Staff. They didnt know I was coming."

Alex looked over at the bridge bulkheads as Trek explained what he wanted to do. Even though he'd had it pointed out to him, he could barely see the discolourations that the Engineer thought were so obvious. Alex shrugged to himself. That's why Trek is an engineer, I guess.
"All right Dan. While you're getting things organized down in Engineering, I'll have the bridge staff start running level 1 diagnostics on the systems up here. Hopefully, we'll be able to track down any problems so all that you'll have to do is fix them." Dan laughed, turned and boarded a turbolift, while the two technicians started installing the new chair.
Alex got the bridge staff to start running diagnostics on their systems, then sat down at the Science station and started checking out the primary sensor array. It looked there were a number of small problems, mostly with sensors that were close to the hull. He started cataloging the problems in order of priority.
As he started the computer analyzing the lateral sensor arrays, he wondered when the new captain and first officer would be arriving. Once he was done with the Science systems, he would have to contact Admiral Magellan to see if he could find out what was going on.

Zoarial wasn't able to find someone at the starbase to do the interrogations, but he scribled down a reminder on his PADD that he should return to the assailant before the Raven would embark on a new mission.
He could easily find the way back to the vessel and he decided to go to the bridge to see whether he could assist in some of the reparations. On his way there he picked up some conversations of maintanance teams talking about someone who was back again, but Zoarial didn't really pick up who or what.
The bridge doors slid open, as noiselessly as they had never done before, and immideately Zoarial had eyecontact with the newcomer, it was Dan who was about to exit the bridge. Zoarial saluted and greeted Dan.
Zoarial: Hello Commander, it's good to see a familiar face again!
<<dan>>
Zoarial: It's a bit of an odd welcome, isn't it; to come back and have an enormous workload waiting for you?
<<dan>>
Zoarial: I guess so, as a CNO there isn't much to do between two missions. There weren't any misconviniences with the controls during the mission, except that we had to temporarily move to engineering and rerout the console to one in engineering. I was in sickbay at that time however, so I missed a bit of the action. But the fight we had on the Jem'Hadar ship compensated fairly.
Zoarial smiled.
Zoarial: Well I'm sorry that I might be interfering with your work, but if you require some help here on the bridge I'll be very glad to do it.

Weill was thinking he ought to make his appearance as he wanted to say hi to everyone and make sure the ship was ok and make sure he could clear everything up if needed before they set off.
He walked up to the shuttle room, as he preffered to go that way so the crew could prepare and not be scared.
He pressed the communications button on the panel, than thought he still wanted the suprise so they didnt know who he was. He turned to the Lt wh was manning the shuttle.
Weill: Lt could you announce to the Raven that, their new CO is on his way, but give no names"
Lt: " Yes of course sir"
Lt: "< STARBASE TO USS RAVEN>"
Dixon: " "< USS Raven here>"
Lt: "< The New Commanding officer of the USS Raven is about to embark on a transport to the Raven>"
Weill: " Thankyou very much Lt, now i can see her from the inside to the out"
Lt: " Quite literally sir"
Weill: " Indeed, shall we go"
Lt: " Yes sir"
They boarded the shuttle and Weill sat down and started to think what he was doing and contemplating what the new mission could be like, but perhaps more, what he would do to make a grand entrance, he though of disguise than no, to flamboyant, than he thought of lights off and transporting, than no, to sci fi, thna he just thought of a good old shuttle trip and greeting, than he thought, why not ask the crew to assemble in the shuttle bay, thna he could really make the entrance he wanted.
OFF: Last minute preparation than next post i will come aboard.

Alex closed the channel to the shuttle and sat back in his chair. Well, he was finally going to meet the new captain. At least he didn't have to call Admiral Magellan. He walked over to the tactical station and activated the ship wide comm. "This is Commander Dixon. Our new captain is due to arrive in shuttle bay 1 in about 10 minutes. All crew not engaged in critical duties please report there on the double."
He was about to close the channel, but discovered that he had something else he wanted to say. "Also, I wanted to mention that you have been a fine crew through all the troubles the Raven has seen recently. You have overcome tremendous obstacles in the completion of our mission, and it has been a pleasure to be in command of such an excellent crew. Dixon out." He closed the channel and turned to the tactical officer. "Mr. Briggs. You have the bridge." The lieutenant nodded and Alex turned and boarded a turbolift bound for shuttlebay 1.

The klingon officer didn't need a message through the ship wide comm as he was standing right besides Alex. With a quick nod to the navigations crew on the bridge, Zoarial departed for shuttlebay, as he too was very eager to find out who the new CO would be.
Zoarial decided that he should quickly put on a new pair of clothes, just the normal uniform though, he didn't want to look too shiny. He was able to walk the way to shuttlebay with his eyes closed by now, but for the sake of everyones safety he preffered not to do so this time.
The doors of shuttlebay opened and Zoarial positioned himself next to them. He would be able to jump to attention the moment that the new CO would exit his shuttle.
Zoarial didn't quite know what to expect, as he hadn't been to a formal instatement before yet, but he prepared to follow the other officers in any formal greeting or whatsoever.
