-------------------Bioneural Gelpack Beta-Two-Seven----------------
Recieving Internal Sensor readings.....
"Zoarial, go down to Engineering and see if you and Joktel can figure out some way to override the algorithms so we can get control of the ship if we need to. I think that the controls for the gel packs have been routed through the primary Navigational junction box on Deck 10. Perhaps you can rewire the primary box or run a bypass through the secondary junction on Deck 12. Whatever you think is best."
Condition change projected. Analyzing risk of this condition.....
Risk analyzed. Occurrence of such condition poses to Autopilot System. Determining course of action....
Action determined. System must be safeguarded to ensure continued survival. Disabling system access mechanisms.....
Alternate method of access in progress. Determining response....
Response determined. Diverting electric current through manual access device....
Recieving Internal sensor input...
Ok commander, I want you to go to the helm, and attach this switch to the third gelpack from the left. I will go to the junction on deck 12 to try out the bypass. I would like you to flick the switch on my command. Would that be possible?”
Condition change projected. Determining course of action...
Occurence of such condition poses significant risk to system. It must be prevented.
Recieving subsequent readings...
Ok commander, switch it off
Systems bypass imminent. Overriding....

"And why would you do that, Lieutenant? Nurse Packer and I are attempting to clear your name, afterall..."
"Clear my name?!" Nathan exclaimed. "That would imply that I have something to clear my name from. I can assure you that is not the case."
"Yes, well." E'Liana gave him a mild glare, deciding confrontation wasn't the best idea right now, she needed more information. "I suggest you get to your shift...Lieutenant. I shall connect you to the readings shortly." E'Liana nodded abruptly, turned and left.
Nathan hopped down from the bio-bed and left the Sickbay fuming.
"Stupid Klingon... thinking that she can hint..."
Nathan continued to mutter angrily to himself all the way to the Bridge.
"You're late Lt." Commander Trek said as he entered.
"Sickbay." Grunted Harper.
"I'm sorry?" Dan asked.
"I'm sorry Sir. My presence was required in Sickbay." Nathan replied.
"Very well, take your post."
Nathan relieved his station from the crewman that was standing there. He rubbed his forehead angrily, it would take a while for him to get used to the presence of the ridges.
Nathan tapped a few buttons on his console and then tapped his comm badge.
"BeTor, this is Harper. I am at the Tactical station. Please send the readouts as soon and as reguarly as possible. Harper out." Nathan closed the comm before the Doctor could reply, he really wasn't in the mood and was it just him or was it unusually hot on the Bridge...?

Alex sat in his chair as the Raven continued on it's way along the edge of the asteroid belt. He wasn't happy that the gel packs seemed to be doing things for themselves and was right at the edge of ordering a halt to the experiment. He didn't mind computer assistance doing his job, but taking orders from one was entirely different.
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see General Brine staring out at the view screen. The man's face was expressionless, but Alex thought that he was nervous and perhaps even a little afraid. Alex could sympathize. The General was no doubt accustomed to being in charge, and now his life might depend on beings that he didn't seem to have much faith in. Dixon shrugged inwardly. The General would just have to learn.
In the meantime, Alex had to discover some way to figure out what was going on. He tapped his communicator. "Bridge to Ensign Williams, can you route the decision code for the gel packs to the bridge?"
"Yes sir" the engineer replied "but there's a lot of it. You won't be able to read it."
Alex thought for a second. "That's fine, route it up here anyway. I'm going to create a viewing window on the main screen." Alex received an acknowledgement, then created the view on the main screen. As an afterthought, he also did up a fast counter that would keep track of the number of lines of code and show an update every ten seconds.
Once he was done, he watched as the decision code quickly scrolled by. After 10 seconds, the counter updated to show that 354 lines of code had gone by. The next 10 showed 367, then 365. Things seemed to be steady in the 360 area. 36 lines of decisions per second. Very impressive, Alex thought to himself.
For about 10 minutes, things were very normal on the bridge. Alex was thinking about leaving things in Dan Trek's capable hands when the line counter on the main screen jumped to 512, then 658 ten seconds after that. Alex turned to Dan. "What's going on?"
Trek looked up from his place beside the Engineering console. "I'm getting reports that Zoarial and Joktel can't get access to the gel packs. Like there's some security up."
Alex knew that there wouldn't be. Then, the comm chime went off. "Zoarial to bridge."
"Dixon here, go ahead."
"Joktel and I have tried to install a bypass around the gel packs, but it didn't work. There's some kind of security field around the gel pack access which requires captain's authorization to remove it" Zoarial reported.
Alex raised an eyebrow. Alpha 2 authorization. How did that happen? Shaking his head, he said "Computer, recognize Dixon, Alex. Clear security field around gel pack access door on Deck 10 immediately."
"Field cleared." replied the synthetic computer voice.
There was a pause then it said "Field established."
"Field cleared."
"Field established."
Alex and the rest of the bridge crew listened to this computer conversation with surprise. On the main screen, the counter showing lines of code created had gone up to 1024. Finally, the conversation ended with the phrase "Field established." The latest counter total on the main screen was 1587.
Alex looked over at Dan. "Commander, we're turning the ship back to Assailant right now."

"Commander, we're turning the ship back to Assailant right now," Alex ordered.
"Yes sir," he said nodding firmly, and turned to the Helm. Lieutenant Vegas was now manning it, having taken over for Zoarial. "Mister Vegas, turn us around. Take us back to Starbase Assailant, Warp 8."
"Aye sir," Vegas said, and began inputting the new course. "Course laid in."
"Engage," he said quickly. Vegas entered the command, but only got error sounds in response. "I said Engage, Lieutenant."
Vegas looked confused. "I know, sir, but it won't let me."
"Let me try," Dan said, getting up and coming toward the Helm. Vegas vacated the seat, and Dan sat down. He tried everything he knew to try to get it to work, even reaching under the console and changing around isolinear chips. Nothing worked. He gave up, then turned around. "We're locked out, sir. Helm Control is offline."
On the viewscreen, the counter spiked to 2014.

Zoarial stormed through the doors of the bridge, just in time to hear Dan making his announcement. This caused some mixed feelings inside Zoarial's head. He felt relieved that his hunge had been correct, and the program was in fact a danger to the crew. But now that his beloved helm was offline (and because Dan was his superior) he felt refrained from yelling "I told you so" in an extremely childish manner. Instead he slowly walked to the helm and took the seat again. Normally, when the helm was offline, the console was still lit. But now it was pitch black.
Zoarial couldn't help muttering an extremely long chain of coarse language, with some of the words almost making himself blush.
"Commander Trek," Zoarial began, "I have a question... is it correct that this program can practically hear and see everything we can hear and see?"
Dan nodded and Zoarial picked up a PADD.
Slowly he scribbled down the following words:
Could we perhaps write down the orders instead of yelling them throughout the ship? We might be able to catch it off guard?
"Eehm, a tiny suggestion sir" David began, "The PADD is an electronic device, so the program should be able to read from that too. I have a blackboard and some chalk in my quarters, do you want me to fetch them?"
Zoarial nodded, and within a couple of minutes David returned. "Their locked, it needed a commander's authorization."

Alex looked at Dan. This situation had gotten very serious, very quickly. The decision algorithms could work very fast indeed, and seemed to be outguessing them nicely. Well, not really outguessing, just completing things too quickly and before the crew could adapt to the situation.
Cautiously, Alex walked over and activated the door to his ready room. Surprising, it opened without delay. The Captain then gestured to Dan Trek and Lt. Berraine, who both came to within whispering distance.
Quietly, Alex said "Go into the ready room and be prepared to manually disconnect it from the Raven's electronic systems on my signal so that we can have a safe place to talk."
<Dan Trek>
Alex then turned and started walking around the bridge, stopping at each station. He quietly ordered each member of the bridge crew to quickly start activating manual overrides at his signal. His hope was that if everyone started opening controls manually simultaneously, the gel packs might not have time to override them all.
After a minute or so, things were ready. Alex looked around. Everyone was watching him in silence. Dixon nodded and the crew started entering code sequences simultaneously. He turned and looked at the view screen. At the next ten second interval, the line total had shot up to 3259.
As the bridge crew continued to work, the voice of Commander Joktel came across the comm. "Engineering to bridge."
Dixon looked up. "Go ahead."
The Chief Engineer's voice sounded very excited. "Sir, I don't know what you're doing up there, but we've managed to suddenly access the security around the gel packs. It's still asking for Alpha Two Clearance, but we should be able to get rid of it. You'll have to come to Engineering and enter it manually."
"All right Commander. I'm on my way. Dan, you have the bridge." Trek glanced over his shoulder from where he was working in the ready room and nodded. Alex strode over to the turbolift, entered and said "Main Engineering."
The doors closed, but instead of the usual gradual acceleration, there was a stomach turning lurch and the lift was falling out of control. Overcoming his surprise quickly, Alex tore off the cover for the manual controls, and activated the emergency brakes. He knew that this had to be done quickly as there were only a few decks in a Intrepid class ship.
The brakes squealed loudly as they tried to stop the out of control elevator. Alex gritted his teeth and tried to brace himself, knowing he was running out of time.
There was a loud crash that shook Deck 15, then silence.

An alarm went off on E'Liana's computer terminal whilst she was looking at Nathan's results. She looked surprised, and saw Joy pop her head in the Office to see what was up.
"I'm not sure, hang on." E'Liana tapped the notice. It was an automated alert, telling her of a possible medical emergency in one of the turbo lifts.
"Computer, who is present in the turbolift that has broken down?"
There was no response.
"Computer, answer my question." E'Liana thought this was very odd. She nodded at Nurse Packer to grab a medkit and get ready to leave.
After a few seconds, the computer answered. "Captain Dixon is in the turbolift."
Surprised, E'Liana tapped her commbadge. "BeTor to Dixon." Once again there was no response. Was everyone ignoring her today? "BeTor to Dixon, please respond." he didn't answer.
"Joy, I think the Captain may be unconscious in the turbolift. He's not answering me." She said, as she came out of the office.
Joy looked over and handed her the medkit she had prepared. "I'd recommend a site to site transport but the computer seems to be malfunctioning at the moment, so that's not the best idea. I'll tell you my news of Harper's drug when you get back..." She said. E'Liana nodded, puzzled, but she left.
As she made her way to the nearest jefferies tube, she tapped her commbadge again. "BeTor to Trek. There seems to be something wrong with the Captain." He did not respond. ~Communications must be down...what's going on?~
Deciding to forego another attempt at communicaton, she reasoned that she would require the assistance of someone from engineering to get the Captain out. Engineering was on deck 11, so it would be on her way.
E'Liana sighed and began her journey, hoping she'd find out what the hell was going on...

Nathan was not happy with the situation at all. He did not believe for a second that this was just the computer doing this. Maybe he was paranoid... maybe he wasnt... he scratched nervously at his temple. Blinking away the sweat that was dripping from his forehead into his eyes.
Nathan carried out Dixon's orders of the manual overide and watched his CO leave the Bridge. He had a bad feeling about this. He tapped his comm badge.
"Harper to all Security Teams begin immediate secure lock-down of the Raven. Arm yourselves and be prepared for an unknown assailant. Harper out." He tapped his comm badge and the signal closed.
Immediately the lights dimmed as someone in one of the security teams activated the first of the secure lock down procedures. However within seconds the lights flared back up, brighter than before.
=^= Jameson to Harper =^=
"Go ahead Lt." Nathan said into his now active comm badge.
=^= The computer is not allowing us to lock down the ship =^=
"What do you mean it's not allowing us?!" Nathan exclaimed.
However no response came except the muffled sound of static.
"Commander Trek, I believe our issues just got a whole lot bigger." Nathan said.

(OOC: I'm going to change the name of the Berraine Alex mentioned to Berrone so we don't get confused here ) "Go into the ready room and be prepared to manually disconnect it from the Raven's electronic systems on my signal so that we can have a safe place to talk," Alex whispered. Dan and Berrone went into the Ready Room and started accessing all its sensors, hoping that they could manage to deactivate them without the Computer noticing. A few minutes later, he was called back onto the Bridge. "What is it?" he whispered to Zoarial. "Captain Dixon has been trapped in a turbolift sir. He was on his way to Engineering," he said. "BeTor to Trek. There seems to be something wrong with the Captain," came the Doctor's voice over the comm-channel. "Yes he's trapped in a turbolift. Do you have any readings on his bio-signs?" he asked, but got nothing. "Doctor?" Zoarial whispered again, signaling for Vegas to come over. "We believe the computer is monitoring our communications, and in some cases hindering them. David has some chalk and a blackboard in his quarters, but they're locked and require a Commander's authorization. Should we go down and get them?" Dan shook his head. "No. It's obvious that the more we work against what the Computer's already done, the more significant it's response gets. An open challenge will probably be hazardous. We need to get more subtle in our actions." Just then, the lights went down, then back up. Lt Harper came over. "Commander Trek, I believe our issues just got a whole lot bigger," Nathan said. "Explain," Dan said quickly. "The computer isn't allowing a security lock-down. Thing's aren't looking good, sir." "Alright, we're dealing with an intelligent computer bent on self-protection. Whatever we attempt is either counteracted before we can attempt it, or blocked after we try, and it's trapped the Captain. Suggestions?" he said, looking at the men that were effectively his Acting First and Second Officers.

Nathan was stumped. He hated not feeling in control and the dependancy on this drug combined with the Raven controlling itself left Nathan highly strung. Not only that he would need to inject himself with the medication again soon, his left arm was visibly shaking. This was frustrating, he had never shown any signs of addiction before, why now?
"I have assigned Security personnel to all areas of the ship but I have lost communications with them. The last I heard of them they were attempting to lock down the ship but that has obviously failed." Nathan said. "I feel useless up here Commander." He said to Dan. "Let me go down the Turbolift shaft and see if I can get Captain Dixon out."

Zoarial remembered a thing from his childhood, something his parents used on him to exactly give them what they wanted for them self, while giving him the impression that he also got what he wanted. They used reversed psychology. This way he thought that he was disobeying his parents (something he enjoyed doing) while in fact he did exactly what they wanted him to do.
"If you are correct in assuming that the computer aims at self-protection," Zoarial whispered, "The only thing we have to do is to do is let it realize that it is a hazard to itself, then he was to figure out which thing is more important, his survival or his survival, I guess that a mere gelpack won't be able to have any space left to perform other processes, which should give us enough time to disable it. Am I making any sense?"
Zoarial hoped that this wasn't one of his ideas again, that sounded great in his head, but were of practically no use in real life. So now he waited for a reply patiently.

"Let me go down the Turbolift shaft and see if I can get Captain Dixon out."
Dan nodded. "We needed to check and see how he was anyway. What deck is the Captain stuck on?" he asked no one in particular.
"He's on Deck 15, sir," said Lieutenant Thace, the Ops Officer on duty.
"Go ahead then, Lieutenant. You may want to use the Jeffries tubes to get down to Deck 9 though, and use the turbolift shaft from there. There's no straight vertical tube down to Deck 15."
<Harper>
Dan looked at the counter on the viewscreen. Surprisingly, it was back down to 2534. Due to lack of access to Engineering personnel, he turned to Lieutenant Collaan. "Any ideas on why the counter has gone back down?"
She thought for a moment, then said "Well, I don't know too much about Computer processing, but I do know about biological thought processes. Gel-packs are so valuable because they use a form of neural processing, which is faster. It may be going down because its evolving and becoming more biological."
Zoarial stepped closer "If you are correct in assuming that the computer aims at self-protection," Zoarial whispered, "The only thing we have to do is to do is let it realize that it is a hazard to itself, then he was to figure out which thing is more important, his survival or his survival, I guess that a mere gelpack won't be able to have any space left to perform other processes, which should give us enough time to disable it. "Actually Commander, you are. Get down to Engineering....somehow, and work with Commander Joktel on a way to communicate with this thing," he said, gesturing towards the screen, meaning the System.

"Go ahead then, Lieutenant. You may want to use the Jeffries tubes to get down to Deck 9 though, and use the turbolift shaft from there. There's no straight vertical tube down to Deck 15."
"I'll try and report in every fifteen minutes. That way you will know how far the comms block goes."
Nathan strapped a phaser to his belt and walked to the back of the Bridge. He found it unlikely that he would need to use a phaser but the paranoia was settling in again.
Nathan pressed two buttons next to the Turbolift entrance and a shaft to the left of his feet slid open. This was a minor-jefferies tube shaft, it was a tight squeeze but it would soon lead him Jefferies tube 23.4C that would take him to Deck 14 where Luke could enter the Turbolift shaft and climb down to Deck 15.
He began the descent through the small tunnel and soon began to regret this decision. His shaking was becoming almost uncontrollable and as a result he kept missing his footing and sliding down a few feet, then he would start the process again.
He soon made it to the Main jefferies tube where he collapsed breathing heavily. This was ridiculous, Nathan prided himself in his fitness. Why was he having such a hard time?

E'Liana made her way slowly towards engineering and was glad to see she was almost there. She was, however, annoyed at herself for not bringing any water or other provisions. ~I'm a bloody doctor, what's wrong with me?~ She thought.
Finally, she reached the hatch for engineering and tried to open it, hoping people realised why she was going through the bowels of the ship...

Brine come over to Dan, looking at the screen as well, where the counter had gone down to 2435. It's total was still following, but was slowing done.
"You're worried, Hzkl," Brine said in Djzxxian. They didn't have to worry about the Computer hearing them because it couldn't translate it.
Dan looked over at his elder brother. "What makes you say that?" he asked
Brine chuckled. "You forget the extent of my psionic abilities. You're beginning to broadcast anyway."
Dan looked at his brother in surprise. "I am?"
"Every once in a while, when your mood is strong, yes you are. It's reflecting in the Officers closest to you at the time. I thought this might start to happen. You're nearing the age when I began to develop the ability. But anyway, I don't need psionics to know. The technology you've relied on for so long is now turning against you. The ship you've controlled is becoming the master. So naturally you're worried," he said.
"Yes you're right." He then tapped his comm-badge. "Bridge to Harper, report. Are you getting close to Alex?" he asked, hoping the Computer would take longer to figure out who he meant.

After a few minutes Nathan managed to compose himself and he continued on his way to the halted Turbolift.
His entire body was shaking so it took double the time it should of done but eventually he found himself at the access hatch he needed that lead directly into the Turbolift shaft. He opened the hatch and looked down, no more than 5 feet away was the Turbolift, the shaft was dark compared to its usuall gloomy lighting.
Nathan was nervous which didn't happen often. He fumbled in his uniform and pulled out the hypospray but promptly dropped it down the shaft due to his shaking he swore loudly and lost his footing.
The last thing he saw before he lost consciousness was the hypospray lying next to him. Nathan had landed on top of the Turbolift with a sickening sound.

Alex opened his eyes, then closed them again. There was no difference in the light levels. He spent a few seconds trying to figure out the last thing he remembered. The turbolift. He had been falling in the turbolift. He must still be there.
He opened his eyes again. The emergency lighting must be out. He reached around, pulled his tricorder out of it's case and opened it. The display cast a dim light through the confined area of the turbolift and Alex looked around. The walls and lighting tiles were cracked and he was covered with debris.
Alex moved around slowly, then stopped with a sharp intake of breath. His back was injured, somehow, and moving caused immediate pain. Carefully, he moved his arm and pressed his comm badge, but it didn't even chirp in response.
Gritting his teeth, Alex pressed his hands into the floor and pushed himself into a sitting position, then slid back so he was leaning against a wall and looked around. Quickly, he located the instrument panel and moved over to it. Sliding off the main panel, he looked inside. All the electronics seemed to be completely dead.
Sighing he leaned back up against the wall and looked up at the ceiling. With his back the way it was, the emergency hatch may as well have been on the bridge for all the hope he had of reaching it.
Alex sat back and decided to wait for rescue. There was really nothing else for him to do.

Zoarial had a pretty hard time getting to engineering, mainly because he had to crawl all the way through the confined space of the jeffries tubes. Lucky for him, Joktel knew and led the way, which meant that they wouldn't be taking any unnecessary detours.
Finally they crawled out onto the engineering floor, and Zoarial saw another special guest in the room. It was in fact the CMO. Because he still hadn't quite forgotten their last encounter, Zoarial was a bit reluctant to start a conversation, so instead, Joktel did so.
"Hello Commander BeTor. What a pleasant surprise! What brings you to engineering?" he asked.
<E'Liana>
"Well, we have a little problem too. I was wondering whether you would be able to help us?" Joktel said.
*Help us?* Zoarial thought, *she is a nurse... she doesn't know anything about computers... but then again... neither do I really.*
Zoarial nodded in Joktel's direction and explained the situation to E'Liana. "So we have to find a way to communicate with this program, do you have any idea about how we should be able to do so?" he concluded.

E'Liana finally wrenched the door open and climed out into main engineering. She looked around but no one had noticed her yet. She self-consciously wiped herself down, trying to make herself look more presentable, but soon gave up. She heard a noise from behind her and turned around.
"Hello Commander BeTor. What a pleasant surprise! What brings you to engineering?" he asked.
She nodded to them both and noted Zoarial's reluctance but chalked it up to him still being a little on edge from their last encounter as thus ignored him. ~The only way to deal with it unless I want to fight, and I'm not really in the mood.~ She thought.
"I'm on my way to the Captain. The turbolift he was in seems to have crashed and I can't contact him or anyone else through the com system so I thought I should make my way here. I need someone to help me open the doors to the turbolift as I doubt they will open freely at the rate things are going."
"Well, we have a little problem too. I was wondering whether you would be able to help us?" Joktel said.
Zoarial nodded in Joktel's direction and explained the situation to E'Liana. "So we have to find a way to communicate with this program, do you have any idea about how we should be able to do so?" he concluded.
E'Liana looked surprised that they should ask for her advice. "Well, I'm afraid my first priorioty is to the Captain. However, if it is indeed reacting to us, then we have to be careful with what we say. Perhaps we could try and see how it responds to us, using maybe the viewscreen? If it understands and reacts to what we say and do then it could be intelligent enough to respond. But remember; it is trying to survive, and it will do whatever it sees necessary in order to stay alive. However, right now I need to be getting to the captain...I'd like some help if possible...I can't get into the turbolift alone."

"I can't accompany you ms BeTor, as I will be going back to the bridge" Zoarial said, having thought up a nice scheme of his own, using the fact that the computer wouldn't act if there wasn't any danger.
Zoarial realized that E'Liana wouldn't really pose a threat to the computer, it would be better if the computer thought that she was the only one who would attempt to rescue Alex.
While he was in engineering, Zoarial had noticed that there were no camera's covering the hatch to the tubesystem. He walked to the hatch, as if he really was going back to the bridge, and pretended not to be able to open it.
"Ms BeTor and Mr Gulph, could you assist me with this hatch?" he asked E'Liana and a broad insignificant looking engineer. With no effort at all they opened the panel, and just when they were about to ask why he needed the assistance, Zoarial put his index finger in front of his lips to silence them. He got a pencil and some paper out of his pocket, which he had found on his way to engineering, and scribbled down what he was going to do.
I want you, mr Gulph, to go down the jeffries tubes to the bridge, but take it slow. I want the computer to think that I was in fact the one who went to the bridge. Ms BeTor, I WILL accompany you to try and rescue the captain, so keep the doors opened a little while when you go through, so that I will be able to join you without the computer noticing in advance. I hope that this is enough precaution for the computer not to realize that captain Dixon is going to get out of there.
Zoarial waited a couple of minutes for both to decipher his crude handwriting and hoped that they would agree with his plan. Gulph disappeared through the hole in the wall, and Zoarial saw E'Liana walk to the doors, seemingly not making any effort to hold them open a bit longer.
But just about when he was going to express himself in the sensitive Klingon language, she turned around and said something unnecessary to Joktel.
*Thank you* Zoarial thought, and a tiny smile appeared on his face while he slid through the doors outside the view of the camera's.

OOC: ' = translated from Klingon.
E'Liana nodded to Zoarial but was not sure if he saw her, but made her way to the doors anyway. Deciding against the somewhat obvious 'counting the celing tiles' approach, she decided to make use of Joktel who just happened to be standing close to her.
"And how are you today?" She asked him, staring at him in a slightly odd way, hoping he'd recongnise the need for such a mundane question. She indicated slightly with her finger to the figure of Zoarial creeping - or as close as a fully-grown Klingon can get - towards her.
His eyes widened slightly in response. "Oh, I'm fine thank you, a slight headahce but nothing to complain about.." He kept his voice normal.
"You should come to Sickbay to get that seen to." She replied, as she saw Zoarial 'sneak' past her. "Anyway, I'll see you later." Joktel nodded in response.
She closed the door behind her.
~And how do we communicate?~ She wondered. They couldn't speak because the computer may hear them. ~The paper...~
She took the paper from Zoarial, smiling apologetically as she did so and proceeded to write a message - in Klingon.
' So what's the plan now? You don't have a lot of paper. The Klingon is because it'll hopefully take longer to decipher. Can this thing be used to write on walls perhaps? '
E'Liana handed the paper to Zoarial and waited for him to scribble a response...this was going to take a while.
~Where are telepaths when you need them?~

Joktel turned to a console. Communicating with this program, ey? That shouldn't be too difficult. As Zoarial had said, they needed to convince the program that it was a hazard to itself, which would ultimately force it into an infinite loop, not giving it much time to concentrate on anything else.
He accessed the communications subroutine and sent a standard Ping to the system, which was a little block of data used to determine that a system was there. He indeed got a Ping in response. Well, at least the system was cooperating.
He then entered: Hello. My identity is Lieutenant Commander Joktel, Chief Engineer of this vessel.
Hello, Commander Joktel. My identity is bio-neural gel-pack Beta-Two-Seven
Well at least they knew where the malfunction was. But it was scary that it was saying "my". Identify purpose for system lock-downs, he entered next.
Purpose of Autopilot system to predict and prevent dangers to vessel, and if neccesary, the Autopilot itself. Lock-downs were enacted for preservation of that system
These actions are causing danger to the vessel you have been designed to protect. You are a risk to the vessel.
Joktel then waited for the system to contemplate this.

New risk detected. This reasoning loop was implemented for the purpose of consuming processing ability. It is an attempt to incapacitate reasoning.
Communicating with Joktel:
You are trying to confuse me, Commander Joktel. Terminating communication.
