Mc7_of_9 looked around his office at the bare walls. Only hours before they had been filled with the things that made this place feel not just like a place that he worked, but a place that he belonged. Now, even though the walls were bare, he found that feeling hard to shake off. All of the boxes from his quarters had been shipped over to the Raven this morning, and the remainder from his office had gone an hour ago. He had spent most of his day doing something that he never found the time to do as much as he wanted to as the bases XO, simply walking around the base, talking to the people he met, be they Starfleet crew or civilians. News of his reassignment had travelled fast, and as the Raven was stocked up and got ready to depart from her moorings, the occupants of the base knew that their Executive Officer would be leaving with her, only to return as a visiting CO sometime. As he said goodbye to the people he met, he knew there was one goodbye that was going to be hard to say. He had been putting it off all day, but he knew the longer he did, the harder it would get.
With that thought, he entered the nearest turbolift, and rode it to level 47 where the majority of the civilian living quarters were housed. He stood before the door for a minute before announcing his presence with the chime, trying to work out what he was going to say when the occupant opened the door. Feeling slightly more composed than when he arrived at the door, he tapped the button for the chime, and almost immediately the door opened revealing the man who mc7 had become very close to over the last few months. They smiled at each other in a way that made them both feel instantly at ease, and mc7 entered.
~~On the Bridge of the USS Raven 3 hours later~~
As the door to the turbolift opened, mc7 was greeted by a sight he had longed to see again. He stepped off the lift just far enough for the doors to close, and watched. There were 4 people of the Bridge, all fairly young looking and all busily working at a console readying the ship for her departure in a few hours time. After a few moments, one of them noticed the former Borg officer standing by the turbolift, snapped to attention and called out,
Admiral on the Bridge.
At ease,
came the reply from the older officer,
I’m just passing through on my way to the ready room. Where are the senior staff?
They are currently on shore leave Sir, some of them on the base. I can recall them if you like?
The young officer behind the ops station offered.
No need Ensign, but thank you for the offer. Can you have all senior staff report to the briefing room in 2 hours though please.
The man tapped a few keys on his board and nodded.
Mc7 continued his walk across the Bridge and entered the ready room. He would have to get used to thinking of it as his ready room now. As he looked around, he saw that some of the boxes that had been marked to go from his office onboard the base to here had been transported directly here. That will make things a little easier, he thought to himself. He walked over to the replicator, and ordered a mochachino coffee which he took to the desk and sat down. As he sipped his coffee he picked up a padd that was sitting on the desk. It was marked from Starfleet Command, and addressed to Vice Admiral Mc7_of_9, Acting CO, USS Raven. It would take some getting used to to be referred to as Captain again. It was an old naval tradition, one of the many that had survived through the centuries of humans traversing Earths oceans through to them travelling between the stars, that the commander of a ship was referred to as Captain, despite their actual rank.
He had already glanced over the briefing document sent by Starfleet, but hadn’t read over it properly yet, He intended to use the time before meeting his senior staff to do just that, and ensure that he was as well prepared for the upcoming meeting as he could be. As he read through the document, he became so engrossed in it that his coffee grew cold, and when he went to take a drink, he was surprised by this. He checked the chronometer on his desk, and realised that there was only thirty minutes left until the meeting. Standing to stretch, he mentally reviewed the files of the senior staff he had begun looking at as soon as he was told about this assignment, and analysing their potential strengths and how those could marry with potential problems or situations that could arise on the upcoming mission. The mission itself would be an interesting one, mc7 thought. The Raven was being sent to Gamma Hyrdra 4, more commonly known as New London, to try to re-establish contact with the colony there. 87 years ago the colony was set up by the Federation, and become quickly established. After 10 years, the residents of the colony became unhappy with that they seen as interference by Earth, and decided to cede the Federation. Since then, there had been official contact from any of the colonists. The mission had been given to the Raven as it was thought that it would be a fairly straight forward one for the crew, so they would have time to get to know their new Commander, and him to know them.
Mc7 on the other hand knew that things seldom went to plan.

Nathan stepped aside as he let the admiral in. "So you've decided to accept the offer then?" he asked, as he followed his friend into his living room. "I'm going to miss you," he continued as they both sat down, "it's too bad that I can't come with you. It's been a while since I've been off the station you know."
They were interrupted by a boy running towards them. "Uncle MC!" the boy cried, bouncing onto the couch, coming to a halt beside the admiral.
Nathan gave his son a disapproving glance, then smiled at the admiral. "How long do you have before you have to leave?" His face fell when the admiral answered that he had only minutes. "Oh," he answered sadly, as he motioned for Frédéric to move aside and go back to his room and play with his toys.
As the boy ran off again, the human doctor switched seats and settled close to the admiral. Gently he caressed the other man's jaw. "I am going to miss you," he repeated, "please be careful? And you'll have to write me about all your adventures."
He sighed as the admiral got up and announced he had to get the Raven ready. "Promise me, "Nathan pressed, then smiled mischievously. "I'll want a tour of that magnificent ship when you dock her on your next shoreleave," he said, as he showed MC to the door. For a minute, he hesitated then gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, giving him room to respond or break away. The status of their relationship was still uncertain, though Nathan had grown very attacked to the ex-Borg admiral, and not just because the admiral was his Vulcan sister's closest friend. "Be careful admiral," he whispered, "it's a cruel world out there."

OOC: This is a joint post with E'Liana
IC:
Although he deeply regretted it, it didn't take Zoarial long to get all his personal material out of his quarters on the Assailant. This would be the last time that he would see the interior and exterior of the starbase that he had grown so accustomed to. With a big sigh he swung the last bag over his shoulder (his trunk had already been beamed to the Raven) and headed to E'Liana's quarters. With the usual knock instead of chime, Zoarial announced himself.
E'Liana had finished packing a few minutes ago and was now in the annoying process of trying to get her cat Lursa into her box.
"Come in" Zoarial heard E'Liana say with an annoyed voice, which of course made Zoarial think that she was annoyed at him.
The door slid open and Zoarial stepped inside, but at the same time, Lursa slipped out.
E'Liana screamed in frustration "Why did you open the damn door!?" She ran out in a blur, leaving Zoarial in the room.
"I didn't..." Zoarial stuttered, but E'Liana was already gone. Zoarial sat down on E'Liana's bed and grabbed a picture that he saw standing on her bedside closet.
Catching up with Lursa in the mean time, E'Liana caught her in her grip and carried her back to the room, seeing Zoarial sitting there somewhat bewildered. "Sorry about that..."
Quickly, Zoarial put the picture back on its former place, but E'Liana didn't seem to immediately notice that he had picked it up in the first place.
Placing her young cat into the box, she tried to explain. "I've been trying to get her for a while, she always runs away, it's as though she can sense it!" Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him put the picture down and gave him a look...
"Put that in a bag, would you?" She asked, looking in her bathroom for anything that she might have missed
Zoarial decided that all the tension wasn't good, especially since their new captain would be stuck with it. "Why are you so tensed ms BeTor? I can't recall to have done anything wrong lately, or should I drop ya the next time ya fall?"
E'Liana turned abruptly. "I don't know what you mean..." She said, in a tone implying that she wanted him to leave the subject alone. As she looked in the mirror in her wardrobe, she knew he wouldn't. Grabbing the last of the hangers, she turned back to him, expectant.
"You know perfectly what I mean!" Zoarial said, now openly confrontating her, hoping that whatever was bothering her, would surface soon. "Is it just having to leave this starbase, or is it something else?"
"Leaving the starbase? Why would I care about here?" She replied, ignoring his question. She moved past him roughly, grabbing a bag that was behind him.
"Well, I can get attached to a certain place, and I guessed that you could as well." Zoarial said, dodging the now agitated CMO. Zoarial was still trying to lure E'Liana out of her defensive shell and thought that he would get her with this attack, but she merely shrugged, clearly not in the mood to talk about it right now.
"Okay, your choice! But I don't want this stuff to cause a problem later on! I know that there's something, and I don't want it to intervene with our work." Zoarial said, giving up the hope of getting any answers at that moment.
She looked at him harshly. "What problem? What are you trying to say?" She was getting more angry, as Zoarial could tell from the way she was treating the bag in her hand.
Zoarial decided to give it one more go, and let it rest after that. “You’re right E’Liana, you are way above the whole idea of having problems.” And after saying that, Zoarial turned around to face the door, but smiled when he heard E’Liana drop her bag.
"Having problems?" She tried to pick up the bag but missed. "What...what do you mean?"
"I just can't explain your behaviour in any other way." Zoarial replied. "So for the last time... please tell me what's bothering you, or stow it away until the next time we see eachother alone."
"Why are you trying to dodge my questions? I know that you recognize everything I say, but since you want it explained to you, here I go." Zoarial answered, trying to sum up in his head how she had been acting that day. It didn't take him long to find the one thing that connected all her actions... "Blaming me for everything"
"Well, that's because it's your fault" E’Liana replied. Glaring at him. She wasn't sure why it was such a big deal, but was in a bad mood now and so antagonistic.
"Okay, I warned ya but ya didn't listen. Leave it. It won't bother me, out of sight out of mind they say, or in this case, out of ear out of mind." Zoarial said, knowing that this would be far from 'out of mind' for him. "Let's go to the briefing room, we have about ten minutes to get there."
"No" She said, grabbing his arm as he reached to open the door. "I'm sorry..."
Zoarial looked back, his expression going from stern and without emotion, to warm and open.

OOC: This is another joint post from Zoarial and myself - aren't we so good? ;D
Zoarial thought that E'Liana would understand his hint that she could continue, but now, after having to push her, now he had to pull it out of her.
"That's a start," Zoarial said, trying not to make E'Liana angry, "in fact that is all I wanted to hear."
She blinked, once more confused. "Why?" She let go of his arm, conscious that she'd kept hold of it and turned away, picking up her bags slowly.
"I didn't feel like being treated properly, I just wanted to say hello and I get a load of accusations thrown to my head" He replied.
"What do you mean 'accusations'?" She asked. Her head was beginning to hurt, and she didn't need her medical training to know it was due to stress. E'Liana closed her eyes, suddenly very tired with it all. She absently poked her finger through the holes in Lursa's box to let her know that she could hear her meowing.
"Accusing me of your fall at the holodeck, accusing me of your cat slipping out of your room." Zoarial said, and saw E'Liana closing her eyes, Afraid she might fall over, he guided her to her bed and let her sit down. He felt that might have been a little too hard on her, but couldn't think of a reason why.
"I was embarrassed about the fall...I've been playing for years, and for you to see me fall, of all people, it was kind of stupid, ok?" She closed her eyes in again in annoyance at everything. "As for Lursa, I'd been trying to get hold of her for at least ten minutes! I know it's stupid but I'm just like this sometimes..."
"I completely understand, in fact... the pot calls the kettle black, I'm not free of blame myself." Zoarial confessed, "Remember last mission? When I had some counselling in your room, David wanted to gave me a short status report, and I didn't treat him very nice at first..."
Zoarial saw that E'Liana wasn't able to recall the situation as he did, so he continued, "The point I'm trying to make, is that I apologized... instantly..."
She bristled instantly. "I SAID sorry, didn't I?" She glared at him, getting up and walking to the door. It opened and she stopped and seemed to growl. Turning around quickly to look at the now bewildered Zoarial, she apologised again. "I'm sorry...I...I can't help being like this...my mother always said I had a quick temper..." She blinked quickly, trying to hide the tears that were forming and mentally shouted at herself for being so stupid, but she couldn't stop herself. So she just leant on the door, now open - although thankfully there was no one outside - trying to hide the fact that she was crying over this like a small child.
"Yes you did, but until you actually said it, you had me worried that I had anything to do with it. I guess it has the same effect on other people too" Zoarial said, interpreting E'Liana standing at the door being a sign of her that she wanted to leave.
Zoarial stood up and picked up the heaviest looking bag and swung it over his shoulder.
She watched him get up and pick up a bag and sighed. ~I suppose we should go...~ she thought to herself. ~We'll be late otherwise...~ She sniffed feebly like a little girl and reluctantly made her way to the bed to get her stuff and pick up the box with a now very distressed cat inside.
When E'Liana turned, Zoarial could have hit him self for not noticing that she had been crying. Now feeling very guilty for abruptly ending the conversation, he gently lowered the bag to the ground. He walked a couple of steps closer to E'Liana and placed his hand on her shoulder. "No hard feelings, none at all, not anymore... You just scared me a bit E'Liana"
She laughed slightly. "I scared you?" She asked, looking at the formidable Klingon in front of her. "Why?" She could feel his hand on her shoulder but chose not to comment on it.
Glad to see a smile through her tears, Zoarial sighed of relief, "I spoke to Arya a couple of days ago and... to be frank... we didn't really get along well during that conversation. A couple of minutes ago, with you also being angry at me, I felt like there was something wrong with me, something about me that caused everyone not to like me, does that explain?"
"Don't be stupid" She said. "I like you." She bent down to pick up her cat once more, casually shading her reddening forehead from his view. "We need to be going." She said. "Otherwise we'll be late. Don't want to make a bad impression now, do we?"
"I think being late would be masked by us not wanting to talk to each other, but I guess that we'll be okay now. Right?" Zoarial said, now moving towards his own bag.
"Yeah, I guess so..." She said, casting her eye about the room one last time, and trying not to feel guilty about Lursa's more desperate meowing.
After depositing all the bags and cats in the correct rooms, they made their way to the Briefing Room, curious to find out who their new captain was. But when they entered, they noticed that no one else was there.
"So much for being too late," Zoarial grinned to E'Liana, "We missed the complete meeting!" E’Liana’s eyes closed in annoyance once again.

McLean had gotten his day started much earlier than he normally did when he was back at the star base. Word had spread through out this sector of space that the USS Tiger-Shark had been stolen right out from space dock.
It seemed that most of the stations were on high alert just in case somebody else tried to steal a starship. McLean approached the base's technicians station to request his copy of the repairs that had been done to the Raven during its short time in dock.
"Good morning Lieutenant." A chipper Ensign said greeting McLean.
McLean cracked a half hearted smile before leaning on the counter, "Do you have my report ready?"
"Yes sir I do, but I have to clear this with the shop's commanding officer first."
"Why?" McLean said sounding annoyed.
"This is important information concerning the tactical situation of the USS Raven, we can't just go give it away to just anybody."
"I'm not just anybody, I'm the bloody Chief Engineer." McLean fired back still on edge from the night before.
"If you would just press your thumb on this PADD everything should be set." The Ensign said still sounding chipper.
McLean pressed on the PADD and was given another PADD with the information he had requested. Taking the PADD out of the Ensign's hand McLean walked off mumbling to himself.
Arriving at the airlock to the Raven McLean ran into another checkpoint. The security guards informed McLean that only senior staff members and star base technicians were allowed on the Raven at this time. Submitting to another thumb print identification McLean was allowed onto the Raven leaving him grumbling to himself about the increase in security.
"Computer, is the new Captain on the bridge?" McLean asked.
Admiral Mc7_of_9 is currently located on the bridge
"An Admiral," McLean said with a bit of confusion as he stepped onto the nearest turbo lift, "Bridge."
The turbo lift ride was uneventful for McLean as he finished up briefly looking over the repair and refit information.
"Those damn technicians seem to be slacking," McLean said as the doors opened up to the bridge. McLean noticed all eyes were on him as he was talking louder than he thought.
Spotting the Admiral, McLean decided to introduce himself, "Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Scott McLean reporting in sir."

Arya hadn't been in much of a hurry. She didn't think the ship would leave without her, no matter how much they would come to think she was a pain in the behind. She wondered where this little path in her life would lead. She wasn't sure exactly what was on the winding road ahead, but she knew she wanted to travel it. She felt excited by the new experiences that awaited her.
She had packed easily letting her mind roam, and unfortunately that wasn't a good thing. It turned back to the last conversation she had with her mother.
"Listen to me for once, I know what I am talking about. If you would just go out and make some new friends, then maybe things wouldn't be so hard for you." She said, and looked at her daughter staring straight into Arya's eyes.
"That is what I am doing, mother, I am going to find some new friends. I just need a new start to do so. Here, well, no one will look past what I am to see who I am. I need a place with many different people, so they will look past to see me. I can't get that here, so I must go and search for it. If the Federation isn't it, then I will continue until I find what I am looking for. I am no longer a little child afraid of the universe, and I am going." She said, and didn't let her mother say anything. Arya picked up her bag and left.
Arya blinked back the tears, it was the last conversation they were ever to have. She had recieved a message a few days ago telling of her mother's death. She had never felt so alone, and now she had no one to turn to. She had wanted new friends, but she just hadn't made any. She remembered how she was new to the Raven now, and decided to be more than just another officer. She wanted to have some friends. She wanted it so bad she could taste it.
She zipped her bag, and shouldered it, heading out the door and not looking back. She headed down the corridor to something exciting, her new beginning.

[Jeres Quarters on Starbase Conqueror]
Jere had just arrived back at his temporary quarters on Starbase Conqueror when he noticed the computer on his desk blinking letting him know he had a message. He was surprised, not expecting anything from anyone. “I wonder what this is.” he said to the thin air of his quarters, as he tapped the console. His eyes roamed the message and he sank into the chair behind the desk.
This was a surprise but not all that unwelcome. Jere stood and packed his things, this taking less than an hour for him to do. He stood in the door of what had been his quarters and turned to look at the now empty suite.
He swung his jacket over one shoulder and turned, duffle beneath the other arm then turned to walk down the corridor, it would take him to the promenade. The walk not all that far and before he knew it he was standing at the security check point outside the Raven Airlock.
[USS Raven]
Jere finally made it through the airlock and onto the ship. He wasn’t sure where his quarters were or if he should report in first so decided to find the crew lounge first. He stopped at one of the many computer consoles and tapped the console.
“Computer, show me where the crew lounge is.”
The computer immediately beeping as lights began flashing along the bottom of the console which ran along the wall of the corridor. He began walking, following the lights.
Arya walks from her quarters to see where she can go to find someone to have fun with. She makes her way down the corridor and hears something. She looks one way, and bumps into someone, knocking herself to the ground.
Jere held out his hand and helped Arya to her feet. “Are you ok?” The woman had appeared with her head turned away bumping into him as he had approached the corner.
She suddenly registered that she had run into someone, and that she was on the ground. The person she ran into helped her up.
"Yes I am fine. I should learn to look where I am going. Who are you?" She said and chuckled a little at her own joke.
Jere smiled slightly. “I’m glad you are ok. My name is Jere Opet, the new asst. CMO on board. I just arrived, and you are?”
"I am Acting Ensign Arya Eowyn, the ship's new counselor. Where are you headed?" She said looking him up and down. Wow, now he is something to look at, she thought. She realized he might be able to read her thoughts, and she hoped not.
Jere looked at her briefly “I was looking for the crew lounge. Then I was going to report in.” he said, not skipping a beat. He could sense her thoughts but learned long ago to hide his reactions well.
Arya smiled, "Well did you want some company?" She said hoping he would say yes. She wanted someone to talk to, and she didn't mind being with him. She tried not to stare.
“Sure Arya, I don’t know my way around yet so it would be nice to have someone with me who did.” Jere said motioning for her to take the lead.
She tried not to laugh. "Well to tell you the truth, I have no idea where it is either. I just got here myself. The only thing I have seen is the inside of my quarters." She said blushing. I hope he doesn't think me dumb for not looking around before now, she thought not realizing she was blushing.
"Did you still want me to lead you there?" She said smiling as sweetly as she could.
Jere motioned to the lights. “We have our guide.” he smiled slightly. “Shall we let the computer do the leading for now?”
She chuckled, "That is a wonderful idea, beside it allows me to walk beside you." She said, quickly muttering something under her breath.
“Making sure I get there in one piece Arya?” He said as they walked along, the corridor wide enough for them to walk comfortably enough side by side. It didn’t take long for them to find the lounge with the help of the computer.
Having arrived, she entered with him looking to see if anyone she knew was there. She didn't see anyone yet, and she remembered that most were probably getting ready for the new mission. "So, did you want something, I am going to the replicator." She said, and looked over at him again. She didn't realize she had sighed.
“Sure Arya, a cup of tea would be great.” he wasn’t hungry and only wanted something while he took in the lounge and what it had to offer. Then it would be off to his quarters and reporting in.
She walked over to the replicator. "A Chocolate chip cookie, a glass of hot chocolate, and a cup of tea." She said wondering if she had too much chocolate. She decided she doesn't and went to find a table, seeing Jere at one already. She joined him quickly before someone stole the seat next to him.
Jere smiled as she brought him the tea and watched as she placed the cookie and hot chocolate in front herself. He didn’t like chocolate, at least not that much. “Thank you Arya.” he said before taking a sip of his tea. -------------------- JP by A/E Jere Opet and A/E Arya Eowyn

She took a bite of her cookie, and found that it was really good. She wondered what else she might like outside of her old favorites. She puts her cookie down, and looks over at Jere.
"So, what brings you to Starfleet?" She said trying to get to know him better. She tried not to stare at him, but she almost couldn't help it. She turned her gaze to her hot chocolate and tried some before looking back up at him. She hoped that he didn't think she was uncomfortable. I am just trying to make sure he doesn't become uncomfortable. What else could we talk about, she thought, and wondered why he was smiling at her like that. Is there something he knows that he isn't telling me, she pondered.

As mc7 finished reading over the last of the reports, he gulped down the last of his cold coffee. Standing, he placed the empty cup into the replicator and hit the button for it to be transfromed from the former hold of his coffee into energy which would then be used to create someone elses request, at some other replicator station throughout the ship.
Once the cup had dematierilised he collected together the other 2 PADDs he had been working from since arriving on the Raven, and decided he would make his way to the breifing room now. He wanted to be the first one there so he could greet each of his new officers as they arrived. He had expected his XO to have made contact with him before now, but he was sure there would be a good reason for him not to have done so yet. He looked forward to hearing what it was.
Making his way out of the ready room, he crossed the Bridge, noticing that it was becoming busier, with more stations being manned as the Raven's depature grew nearer. So far he had only met one of the senior staff, Lt Scott McLean, the ships engineer. Meeting the people that would serve under you was somehting the admiral hadn't done for a long time, and even though he had years of command behind him, he still had a slight twinge of nerves ever time he done it. The day I lose that feeling is that day I retire, he thought to himself, entering the breifing room.

With a little time to spare before the briefing was to start, Steven decided to head to it in the hope of getting there before anyone else, so he could speak with the CO.
The walk from his quarters to the briefing room only took a few moments. The corridors were mainly empty. Upon entering the briefing room, Steven noticed the Admiral.
"Sir." He said. "Commander Steven Smith. I would like to apologise for not contacting you sooner. I have been working on the duty rosters, and I seem to have gotten engrossed in them."
He awaited an unhappy response, knowing that even though it was true, his reasoning wasnt good enough.

Jere and Arya sat and chatted for a while but were inturrupted by his combadge letting out a chirp. He'd made sure have the computer on board the ship let him know when it was time for him to report in. He excused himself from his new friend and with the aid of the computer made his way back to his quarters, quickly changing into his duty uniform. He stood before the mirror brushing out imaginary wrinkles for a short while. The computers chirping reminding him again he needed to head for the bridge and the CO.
He strode through the ship to the turbolift, his step slightly more confident. The doors to the lift opening to receive him, the lift empty. He stepped inside and ordered it to the bridge. Time to get to work, he knew this and straightened his back as the lift rose upward.
A short time later the lift stopped and the doors opened. He looked around as he stepped off. With a quick glance around he headed for the briefing room, taking a seat at one side of the table.

Arya enjoyed her little talk with Jere, and hoped to do it again soon. He had to leave, and she decided to finish her cookie at least before heading off too. She knew she was overdue for her physical, and that there had to be a large mound of padds awaiting her arrival. She also remembered that she needed to catch up on some other 'light' reading.
After her little encounter, she headed to sickbay to see what other michief she could cause, since she was convinced that was all she amounted to in life, mischief. She felt so disappointed, and wondered who a counsellor talked to when they needed help and advice. She could try talking to herself, but she decided that the crew might label her the insane type. She decided that she didn't need that again. She had so many things happening, and she wondered if her mother had been right. What would have happened if I had stayed put? She thought, and realized that she hadn't told the turbolift where to go.
A little later she arrived in sickbay. "Hello, doctor," she said. "I am here for that physical, remember?" She finished trying not to sound stuck up or anything. She remembered the little bit of time they had already spent together, and she didn't want to mess anything up right now. She figured she needed all the friends she could possibly get.
(BeTor)
Later she headed to her office. She saw her desk, and groaned. She was right about the mound of padds, and that made her completely unhappy, well that and a few more things. She hoped things would go smoother for her in the next couple of days, and wondered when a good time to get personnel evaluations going. She decided today wasn't a good idea. She needed to talk to someone about what was going on with her, but she wasn't sure who.
She decided to let the padds wait until she was in a better mood, and a thought came to her. I should go ask the captain who a counsellor talks to when they need advice. I bet he would know, she thought, and was glad that had come to her. She entered the nearest turbolift, and told it to go to the bridge.
Upon arrival, she noticed the captain wasn't sitting in his chair. She asked the nearest person if the captain was on this deck. The reply came back, 'in the briefing room', and she realized she might be needed at that meeting. She was glad for once that she always carried an empty padd with her. She sighed, and had hoped to talk to the captain alone.
She entered the briefing room, and took a seat, hoping she was in the right one. She looked about and noticed not many had arrived yet. She took out her padd, and decided to send her commanding officer a note. She didn't want anyone else knowing about her question, and she was wanting an answer.
Sir, do you know who a counsellor would go to if she needed advice? I am in dire need of advice, and I have no idea who to turn to. I was hoping you might know who I could talk to, about all of my problems. Thanks. Arya
She sent the message without thinking more about it. She then realized this probably wasn't the best time, and she hoped he wouldn't take it wrong.

McLean's introduction to the Admiral was shorter than he thought it would have been. It seemed the Admiral was more than confident in the abilities of the officers around him, it was a nice change to not have to submit engine performance reports with every face to face meeting.
As he continued to double check the work done by the Starbase technicians McLean found his mind wondering, thinking about the two Captain's and Chief Engineer they had lost to the navigational brain. McLean found the brain to have been a catch 22. With out the brain the officers would have never left the ship, and McLean would have never been promoted as quickly as he had been. Strange how life works out, McLean thought.
"How are those new EPS relays working?" McLean asked the Ensign manning the OPS station.
"They seem to be working just fine sir." Came the reply.
"Good, I want you to keep looking over the power regulations. Make sure that nothing is surging, this ship just came back to life from a massive EM surge and I don't feel much like fixing the same problem twice in one month. You know how sloppy those Station techs can be." McLean said as he started to walk away.
"I'm one of those sloppy techs sir." The Ensign said sheepishly.
"I'm sorry to hear that." McLean said turning to face the shocked Ensign.
Walking away McLean let out a whistle as he seemed to have dodged a bullet. It was unusual for a engineer to take such an insult. He must be new, McLean thought as he stepped onto the turbo lift.
"Engineering." McLean ordered.
McLean stepped off the turbo lift and decided to take the long way into Main Engineering. As he walked he constantly checked the work that was still going on along the EPS grids.
Check, recheck, watch for surges, maintain power levels. McLean felt he was sounding like a broken record, but it wasn't every day that a star ship received almost 100% new wiring and power distribution systems.
Walking into Main Engineering McLean felt himself relax, he spotted engineers he knew and felt comfortable with their work.
"How are things going down here?" McLean asked.
"Couldn't be better sir." One of the engineers replied.
"Good." McLean said giving himself a chance to catch his breath, "Have either of you two seen Lt. Paria?"
"I take it you didn't hear sir?"
"Hear what?" McLean asked.
"Lt. Paria requested a transfer and was assigned to the USS California."
"The California?" McLean said with shock, "Isn't that a small science ship?"
"Yes sir, and to be honest sir, that assignment is well below her."
McLean didn't have any answer, he knew they had fought over the position of Chief Engineer but to up and leave with out saying anything was something McLean didn't expect from Paria.
"Alright, I have a staff meeting to report to. I want you two to stay down here and make sure none of those sloppy techs from the station mess anything up." McLean said.
"You know I got my start as a tech."
"Can't catch a damn break today..." McLean mumbled to himself as he walked out of Main Engineering to the nearest turbo lift.
McLean grumbling over his insults of the Station Techs continued all the way into the Conference hall. As he entered he noticed Commanders Zoarial and Be'Tor standing alone in the room.
"I hope I'm not too early." McLean said taking the second seat on the right from the head of the table.

Mc7 sat at the head of the table, and looked up at his XO. Steve had just explained that he had been working on the duty rosters, and had become so engrossed with them that he hadn't noticed the time and as such, hadn't been on hand to welcome to new CO aboard. The fact that Steve hadn't been there to welcome mc7 wasn't the issue. He had to find out the ships status from the various different members of the senior staff he had met so far, and would get the rest of them at the breifing he was about to hold.
We'll talk about this later Commander, but let me say now, this is not a good start.
Steve held his impassive look on his face, nodded to his new Commanding Officer, and took his seat to the left of the Captain. Less than a moment after their exchange finished, the various officers started arriving to the breifing room. After 5 minutes, mc7 noticed that all the senior officers were present apart from Scott, E'Liana and Zoarial. Deciding that it was time to see where they were, he tapped his comm badge.
Computer, locate Commander Be'Tor, Zoarial and Lt MacClean.
Commander Be'Tor, Commander Zoarial and Lt MacClean are in Breifing room 2.
Mc7 wondered why the 2 officers were in the secondary breifing room.
Do we have my officers plotting against me in secret already?
He said with a smile, as the quip was met with chorltes around the table.
mc7_of_9 to Commanders Be'Tor, Zoarial and Lt MacClean. Is there any chance you could swap the secondary breifing room for the main one? The rest of the senior staff is waiting to begin the breifing.
Sir? The computer told us to report to Breifing room 2. We assumed that everyone else was running late. We'll be there in a moment, MacClean out.
Looks like our Cheif Engineer has his first task,
mc7 said, to no one in perticular.
One of the PADD's infront of mc7 beeped softly, alerting him to the fact that there was a new message waiting to be read. He picked it up and read it's contents. Without looking at Arya, he typed his reply.
Arya, I may be your commanding officer, but in time I hope we can be friends as well. And I'm here if you ever want to talk. mc7

We'll talk about this later Commander, but let me say now, this is not a good start.
'Great way to impress your new CO, or not, in this case.' Steven thought to himself.
He just stood and looked, expressionless, at the Captain. After a moment, he nodded and took his seat. Inside, he mentally kicked himself for being so stupid. He had been an XO and CO himself once before, so he knew what to do in situations like this. This wasnt going to do well on his record.....but there is always time to try and make up for it.
As the senior staff arrived, Steve began to wonder what was in store for him and the Raven during their new mission. Hopefully it wouldnt be anything too strenuous. But either way, he was more than prepared to do what it takes to make sure that he done his job to the best of his ability.....his earlier lapse aside.
A few more minutes passed and the Captain called for the three remaining senior staff members to report to the correct briefing room. Steven took a deep breath and awaited their arrival so things could get underway.

"Hello, doctor," she said. "I am here for that physical, remember?"
Joy looked up from her console in surprise. “Oh, you must be Ensign Eowyn…I’m afraid Doctor BeTor isn’t here right now, she’s moving her belongings back to the ship and then off to the Senior Staff meeting, but I’ll be happy to complete your physical.”
She indicated to the biobed. “Please lie here” Joy said. “And I’ll begin the tests…”

“mc7_of_9 to Commanders Be'Tor, Zoarial and Lt MacClean. Is there any chance you could swap the secondary breifing room for the main one? The rest of the senior staff is waiting to begin the briefing.”
E’Liana looked at Zoarial and rolled her eyes. All three of them made their way to the primary briefing room.
Once there, E’Liana looked in surprise at her seat. There was someone sitting in it. She was puzzled, and so went up to the person.
Noticing the Acting Ensign’s pip, she was further confused. “Uh…hello…” She said, trying to not to get annoyed.
He looked at her “hello” he said. She noticed that he was a Betazoid and immediately tried to block her thoughts, but knew it was useless.
“Could I ask you why you’re in my seat?” She said, knowing that she was NOW in the right room, and yet this was a Senior Staff meeting….

Jere looked up at the young woman standing just behind his chair and was about to say something when his combadge blipped.
=/\= A/E Opet please report to sickbay immediately. =/\=
He stood and held the chair out while the woman sat in the vacated seat, leaning down as he pushed the chair in for her.
"Sorry."
He turned on his heel and departed the lounge, heading for the lift and sickbay. The ride short, not giving him enough time to think as he walked out of the lift and down the corridor to sickbay. The doors swishing closed behind him after he entered.

Arya laid down for her physical. She hoped that nothing was wrong, and new this was just for the records. She couldn't remember the last time she had this done, and wondered if she had it done at all.
"Is there anything else you need from me doctor?" She said a few minutes later.
(BeTor)
She had received the message. Sir, Thanks, I appreciate the offer. I do need to talk to you, and I feel it should wait. After the meeting, if you have time for me? Arya

Nurse Joy Packer went to get a tricorder from the cupboard and began to scan the young Ensign. A moment later, the new ACMO came into Sickbay.
"Hello," Said Joy. "I am Nurse Joy Packer, you must be our new Assisstant CMO." She smiled and held out her hand.
<TAG Opet>
"I'm just starting Ensign Eowyn's physical, perhaps you would like to help me? I've only done this a few times before."
<TAG Opet>
~*~*~ MEANWHILE:
E'Liana watched as the young Betazoid turned on his heel and left, presumably heading for Sickbay where Nurse Packer had summoned him. As she sat in her seat, she noticed Zoarial sit next to her. She was puzzled at the young man's behaviour, as she believed herself to be right. ~I was probably too Klingon again...~ She thought to herself. However, she was too fraught thinking about other things to be worried with such trivialities just now.

Zoarial was a bit touchy, he had been waiting in the wrong briefing room for over an hour, and now the new captain was probably blaming him for not showing up for the briefing in time.
Now that he was present though, it seemed to take ages for the briefing to actually begin.
On top of that, E'Liana seemed to ignore him, at least that was what Zoarial made up out of her silence.
Hoping that they would soon be able to get underway with the mission and work away their stress, Zoarial glanced up to the new captain, hoping that he would soon begin the briefing, before emotions would run too high in the small room.

Bloody hell, if it's not one thing it's another, McLean thought to himself as he stood up and joined Zoarial and Be'tor on the quick walk to the next conference room over.
As the door slid open all eyes were on the late arrivals. McLean could feel the eyes of the Admiral on him especially since it was a computer problem reported that caused the mix up.
Probably thinks I run a sloppy engine room, McLean thought as he sat down in one of the only empty chairs left in the room.
"Sorry for being late sir, I will look into this glitch as soon as the meeting is over." McLean said hoping to ease the tension he could feel in the air.

"Hello, I am Nurse Joy Packer, you must be our new Assisstant CMO."
Jere took the nurses hand. "Yes, I'm Acting Ensign Jere Opet. Is there something you need me to help you with?" He asked having been called down from the meeting. He'd have to get the notes from the meeting later.
"I'm just starting Ensign Eowyn's physical, perhaps you would like to help me? I've only done this a few times before." the Nurse asked.
"Of course I will help." he said with a smile. This would give him a chance to start getting to know the crew of his new assignment. He picked up the PADD which lay next to the patient and began to read over it.

"Of course I will help". Opet said.
Joy looked at the young man and saw his black eyes and realised that he was a Betazoid. She shivered internally at the thought. She hadn't had many good experiences with Betazoid's in the past, and although she knew each person was an individual, it still irked her slightly. She only hoped he wouldn't comment on her thoughts.
"Right" She said, in a rather more jovial tone than was strictly necessary. "We need to scan her for all basic illnesses and just do a routine check up of vital signs and get a record of her family history. The reason this is so detailed is because she is a new member of staff and so we need to make sure we know as much as possible...we've had...incidents...in the past where we didn't know enough about patients." Joy said, her eyes glazing over as she briefly recalled Lieutenant Harper.
"So if you could complete some of the tests whilst I ask Ensign Eowyn some questions?"
<TAG Opet>
"Now Ensign, I'd just like to ask you a few questions about your medical history if you don't mind...?"
<TAG Eowyn>
"Do you have any family records of hereditary illnesses? No matter how small, we need to know..."
<TAG Eowyn - feel free to add any more questions for her to ask you if you have anything specific in mind IC>

"I don't mind, what do you need to know doc?" She said trying to be completely cooperative, even though she doesn't like it when people pry.
"There have been no known illnesses like that in our family. We have been pretty healthy, and I haven't had any problems in that area." She said covering the first question.
"Well, what about your records, have you had any serious illnesses?" She heard, and thinks back.
"I had the pola, but that is natural for Bajorans at that age. Besides I didn't have it for very long, because I am only half Bajoran. Other than that, I have had no serious illnesses." She answered hoping not to go into that further.
"What about injuries? Have you ever had to have the need for surgery?" She couldn't believe this question came out.
"Well, I have had some broken bones, but I don't know any child in our colony that didn't break at least one bone. I had an accident when I was a teen. On a colony outing, we were attacked by a Ratola. The animal went after a child, and I stepped in and intercepted it. It bit me very hard in the ribs, and dragged me for what seemed like forever. One of the fangs got stuck in my lung, and surgery was needed to remove it." She reported, not liking to go back into her past at all.
"Have you had any allergies at all?" She smiled sweetly. She knew she could probably fool around with him on this question, and wondered if she should.
"No, I have never had an allergy in my life." She answered deciding not to mess with him.
"Is there anything else I should know about your medical history?" She thought a few minutes, and then answered. "I have many scars, and some old wounds that haven't healed correctly. I don't know if there is anything you can do for the old wounds, but if there is any help would be appreciated."

E'Liana looked up around the table and wondered what the silence was about. Everyone seemed to be waiting for something to happen, but she didn't know how to start a briefing, since she had no idea what they were going to be doing, so she gave up on that idea.
"I need to meet my new ACMO, is there any point in this meeting, or can I go back to Sickbay?" She asked no one in particular.
