Adislo sat in the transport vehicle, staring at the view screen designed for passenger viewing of the stars. She had the room to herself, at this point in the voyage most people were tired of looking at the picture that was designed to mirror what would actually be seen outside.
But Adislo liked to come here just to sit and think. Taking a PADD out, she looked at the words on it. She still had to compose a reply to her sister’s letter. Adislo re-read the words on her PADD, the words that her older sister had written to her.
Adiza,
How have you been? I haven’t heard from you lately, but we haven’t exactly been sharing our lives with each other. But I do care. I think you’ve chosen an…interesting job. Becoming an ambassador isn’t necessarily the easiest way to be with the stars, but I understand that it’s the one you’ve chosen for yourself.
Love, Your little sis.
Adislo sighed. She had been on the firm path of being an ambassador for at least ten years now, and this was the first acknowledgement of this that Adislo had gotten from her older sister. This letter would be if Adislo were to suddenly congratulate her sister on getting in to Starfleet, when she should be congratulating her on her promotion to Captain. Adislo and her sister were hardly close, which left Adislo with the problem of trying to respond diplomatically to her sister. Adislo had no doubt that she could handle being an ambassador and meeting with strangers to try to convince them to do their best for her planet, but she was never sure how to talk to her own sister.
Adislo heard someone coming behind her, and turned swiftly towards him, putting her PADD back into her pocket. “Ambassador,” he said. “I just thought I should inform you, we’re your destination.”
“Thank you,” Adislo answered, glancing at the screen. She nodded, and he left. Several minutes later she reluctantly turned away from the beautiful view of the station, to prepare her bags for leaving.
Adislo entered the station, and headed for Admiral Clark’s office, but once she got there she simply stood outside it. She wasn’t sure how to enter, since Admiral Clark was no doubt busy, but she figured that she needed to inform the Admiral that she had arrived, and she needed quarters, and she thought here would be the best place to go to. Adislo decided on simply activating the computerized doorbell, and she waited for the door to open.

Adislo heard an ‘enter’ after she chimed the door, so she approached the door, which opened, and she walked in. “I’m Ambassador Adislo,” she said. “From Bolarus IX,” she said. She wasn’t sure she needed to, not many people had bald heads and bright blue skin, but it never hurt to be sure that the obvious facts were known.
“I’ve just arrived, and I believe you’re the one to see about all this,” she said, it was partly a question, but she was fairly sure of herself.

“Well, I think I should go to you to be assigned quarters, and well,” Adislo shrugged casually, “Would it be possible to get a map of the station?” she asked.

“Thank you, Admiral,” Adislo said, shaking his hand and taking that as her que to leave, and smiling as she did so.
She walked out of the office and entered the main corridor. She would have liked to explore a little, but she didn’t want to have to do it with her possessions, so she decided she might be better off simply finding her quarters, and then exploring.
Adislo walked to one of the LCARS and activated it to show her a map to her new quarters. She followed the lights, but spent as little time looking at them as possible, instead she tried to look around the station, to get a feel for both the actual structure and for all the people on it.
In her quarters she took a shower and put on new clothing, before realizing that she was decidedly hungry. Adislo arranged some of her belongings before starting to leave, but then she realized that she didn’t have a clue what restaurants there were to eat at.
She called up a list from the computer, and decided on a restaurant called the ‘Garden Café,’ which sounded very interesting. Adislo was hungry, but not overly so, so she decided to just try to find that restaurant, or another, rather than using the LCARS system, if she became overly dependent on it she would never learn how to actually find her way around, which was why she almost would have preferred a map, but stations tended to be rather well planned out, and Adislo doubted that Bellicose was an exception.
She found the restaurant without any problems, and sat down at a table by herself to study the menu.

After Adislo had studied the menu a little, she found that she couldn’t tell what had human ingredients, and what didn’t, so she waited for a waiter to come by so she could ask-she didn’t want to risk having an allergic reaction just because she was hungry.
She saw a waitress coming over. “Which foods are nonhuman?” She asked, since it hadn’t been clearly marked on the menu.
“There is a Cardassian Sem’hal stew, cooked with the finest ingredients imported freshly every few days from the system Coltar IV.”
A human planet, Adislo thought, that probably exported human ingredients. Not too surprising though, Cardassia was hardly capable of exporting vast amounts of food.
“We also have Klingon Gagh and Bregit Lung.”
Adislo decided to pass on the Klingon food, mostly because the idea of eating anything that was still alive wasn’t a very pleasant thought.
“We have Romulan Viinerine, which-”
“Does the Viinerine have any ingredients made from a human world?” Adislo asked.
“No, many of the ingredients come from Vulcan, and a few even come from Romulus itself.”
“Thank you, I think I’ll order that,” Adislo said, then waited for her food to come. One of the reasons she had chosen Viinerine was that, if made correctly, it did not take a long time to be ready to serve.
