I remember the TNG episode where it was revealed that conventional warp drive was destroying the galaxy. What if you were running a new engine that was designed to somehow avoid such a thing? I don't think you'd want to chance having the thing short out because you are using it to power too many things, also, you'd certainly want to have a back up plan in case something went wrong. Or there is a chance that such an engine, even a proven model, may not yet be capable of really powering the whole of the ship. You may have the alternative engines to power the ship's systems as well as any extracurricular systems. not an issue. all ships designed since the discovery have had engines that don't have that effect. Not a problem.

I still don't have your opinion on my redisigned Three-core system, it would be nice to have the opinion of an Engineering officer.

And I've made some changes to the ship, the saucer is a bit smaller and I raised the engines and widened the space between them.

What would this ship be classified as? It's the size of a Galaxy class ship, but it's armed with a heavy number of phaser arrays and torpedo tubes. It's heavily armed, but it's also supposed to be very fast.
You know what? Next time more than one ship is at the same Starbase as mine, I'll set up a holodeck program of this ship, just so I know what it would be like to be onboard my ship when it would be done.

heavy cruiser, and I think backup cores would be nice, but as bakups. have one non-operational, and the others working with one as low power reserve. also put hem in different locations with redundant power grids from each one (one jefferson mission I had to setup shuttle cores in the umbilical power control rooms- that was fun)
different distrabution would be complicated, but if it used different patways in th eship it could be wonderful in the event of an attack. cut the power from one core? fine, we have another and there's an inactive spare in another room.
That's my engineering opinion. my ohter engineering opinion is that it would be difficult for repair crews and more engineering personell would be needed, and the department is already oversized.

Hmm... Yeah, that would be a problem. We would need quite a few engineering officers onboard. But three rooms, one for each core sounds good. I thought of something, since this is supposed to have more firepower than most ships, why not use the third core for weapons and backup power?
The ship would have three modes of operation based on power: Level 1) Standard power, no restrictions on power use. No cores shut down. Level 2) Backup power, holodecks are off limits. One primary core failing, third core in use. Level 3) Emergency mode, holodecks off limits, low lighting, speed limited to warp six unless under attack, transporters offline unless of evacuation, shields at half power if on. Two of the cores are failing.
Do you like the idea?

Well, Blender (the program I am using to make this ship) is on the fritz, so I don't know how often I can give updated models, so any suggestions before I get it working again?

Alright, I've got Blender (my program used for making the ship model) working again, but just barely. I've started placing Phaser Emitters on the ship, but I must know where Phaser Emitters are usually placed on a ship.

To cover all sides; ventral, dorsal, front and rear.

Should I put one on the back of the tail of my ship? Maybe one on top of each Warp engine?

I added three phaser emitters, one on the back and one on each nacelle. What would a torpedo tube look like on the outside?

Any other locations for Phaser Emitters before I start adding topedo tubes?

How about a phaser strip on the Saucer section. And Torpedo tubes on the either side of the deflector and two in the aft.

I've got phaser emitters on the saucer, just no updated images. I plan to have concealed phaser emitters and torpedo tubes, also. I plan to have some seperate structure on the ship made to hold torpedo tubes, like the Akira, Miranda and the Constitution Refit.
Current Phaser Emitter locations: -On top of saucer -On bottom of saucer -On top of each nacelle -On back of ship, upper half of the back of the tail Torpedo Locations: -None, still debating locations.
The basic setup of the ship: -During times of war, four or five will be ready. -After the war, the ships are sent to assigned docks where they will be maintained and used for simulations. -When another war occurs, the four or five ships all recieve refits and are brought back into service. -The ship has no set Senior Crew, just a handful of officers are picked from ships to command the ship. Edit: -Only one will be active in non-war times.

As for armaments, I plan to have a lot more phasers. It will probably have 13 Type-X Phaser arrays and one Type XII, only one because I read of the size and such. It will, if I can find enough areas to put them, enough torpedo tubes to rival an Akira class. I plan to add a little box like thing at the base of the neck, like the Constitution Refit has and place a few torpedo tubes in there.

How about 4 2nd class torpedo tubes and a 2 class quantum ones like on the Enterprie-E. 2 Second class tubes in the aft and 1 quantum one in the back.

The only problem with placing all of this stuff is location, really. I don't really know much about the difference between Torpedo tubes is a problem, especially if they look different on the outside of the ship.

The thing with the white line shooting out from it? (Assuming the white thing is a torpedo.)

They're just a hole. There should be a hatch which covers them when not in use and which opens when one is fired. They're too small to see easily though since they're only just wider than the torpedoes themselves.

I guess I didn't have torpedos in mind when I designed my ship. I'm having trouble adapting a "Torpedo box" to the base of my ship's neck because those were meant for necks that were thin from the front view like the Enterprise-A.

No....um let me see....how to explain what it is.....lol.
The torpedo tube is in the middle of the dome hanging from the bottom of the saucer. The circular light is where the tube is.....its only lit up now because I took a screencap the milisecond before a quantum torpedo was fired.
