I have tried again using Illustrator ... I don't have a top or bottom view yet ... but I'm going to work on it ...
... removed image ...
... my gif layers got messed up but you can see the 1701-E for a flash to get a size comparison ...

the nacceles connect at two different points, so either section could retain the nacceles when the ship separated, depending on the choice ofthe CO. that way, if there was an imminent warp core breach on one section, the nacceles wouldn't be lost (and they're the hardest part of a ship to make from what I hear) and could be used on the undamaged section. that way, you could escape at warp rather then at impulse and trying to ride the shockwave (and crash into a planet)

i was just checking out the designs and one thing struck me over all the rest. now, let me say first that i really like the design alot, but i really feel the ship should have more of a edgyness to it. the design right now is very bubbly and TNG. the newer ships all have this same edgy, angular design elements to them.
just thought i would throw my two cents around.

I agree ... more angular surfaces and sharper lines would add a bit of character and coolness to the design. That's my little opinion. I keep thinking of one of the new Ford Mustangs ... lol, perhaps because I'm obsessed with them at the moment ... but still ...

Any chance of a larger image on that?
And it would probably be modified, along with the name (hardly original or even close to what could be considered canon)

im afraid there isnt, all that is possible is for you to copy it and enlarge it.
I agree with the name, i would need to chaged, also im not sure that it should be modified to much.

All the modifications would be minor, but without a good image it's a moot point. Gotcha! us.geocities.com/nx1701g/main.htmlIt comes form another sim, but perhaps we could use it for ideas...

No...I'd say yours was more Sovereign looking than Jeff's example. Jeff's has the saucer size and shape of a Galaxy class, for a start!

I have a 2nd recomendation, this was made by my late Uncle who died of cancer last year, He was in to star trek, so he desined his own ship, the only thing was he never did the specs of it so it is possible tob put anything you wish on it. Also he didnt get round to naming it, so there for you have the oppertunity of naming her.

At first glance, it reminds me of the Cousteau...the Captain's yacht of the Enterprise-E.....I know it ISNT, but its looks similar in basic shape That said, I like it!

I love that ship ... for this project ... I think this ship would be wonderful for a S47 class ship. Maybe even a Marine ship ...

I too like the design. It seems to hav variable geometry nacelles and only 3 phaser strips but the whole shape is something I very much like. Theres a lot of potential in it.

There's nothing wrong with them. What our dear Admiral was pointing out is that they geometric ones....ie, ones that move (Voyager, for example)

It is quite a cool design. Kind of a pointy Intrepid class. It seems a lot smaller than what you guys were talking about before (if the nacelles are anything to go by), but I agree it would make a good Marine ship. Any idea what the profile might be like? (ie port/starboard view)

I would suggest losing the moving nacelles. It was an odd idea to begin with to have moving parts on a starship and would be the obvious weakpoint. Also, the idea seems to have been unpopular enough that the lack of other later ships having them was explained by the problem they were meant to fix being fixed a more efficient way.

well, Jamey has found some one to make a 3D model, also we can loose the moving nacells later in designing, but the general ship design seems sound
