I thought we had decided on just one ship....
and I suggested 470147.

"We" haven't decided on anything. Nor can we. All we're doing is coming up with a few ideas. The final decisions will be made by the CSS. For right now let's concentrate on actually designing the class. We can toss around a few ideas for a name, but final decisions like number of ships, where they are assigned, and their registry numbers will come later and will be made by the CSS. So let's not jump to any conclusions...

been used... As a canon ship. I like the name, But reusing names dosen't seem like the right thing to do for a flagship.

Nor is there an Enterprise class, but there was a ship(s) named Enterprise, and there was a ship named Phoenix, and I think it would be best to avoid repetition, since we can.

Who says the class and the name of the ship have to be the same? The Enterprise was a flagship, but it wasn't class of ship. What about the USS Draco?

Draco sounds now like Draco Malfoy.
The ship will be the prototype of its class, therefore the class and name will be the same. If we do the prototype and flagship idea then the flagship will have a different name to its class name.

Well Draco links to Dracon, who was an early Athenian lawmaker. However, Dragons as westerners see them are generally destructive, unless they are metallic D&D dragons, but that's somewhat specific.
I dare say we could seek some examples of Chinese dragons, like Ying Long, but again most people won't understand the reference.

On numbers, all the other ships on the site are 7500XX. Maybe prototype would be 750047 and the next would be 750147 and so on?

Right as you are that this is an oligarchy, the demos can still put forward ideas.

Yes, definately, ideas, ideas, ideas! If there is a consensus among the designers, the CSS will probably approve most of their recommendations.

Lol. Looks likes your suggestion of "Unity" got glanced over, Mark. ;D
I like the idea behind the name, but I'm not sure it's something that rolls of the tongue very well. Unity-class works, admittedly, but I'm not sure about the USS Unity. Then again... it's not that bad after all.

I've always wanted to name a ship, "USS Paragon" (Which pretty much means "Ultimate")

I don't know if this has been suggested, but why don't we name the Flagship of Section 47 the name of the system that its based at.
So my idea is the USS Selah, Section 47 Flagship

Nah... I still say the names like unity, zenith, and sunrise. Those speak to ideals of starfleet- exploration (zenith is up on a six point compass), Unity (self explanitory) And beginning (sunrises in most mytholigy symbolize beginnings, a new fresh start, and beuty.
My prefrences for class name (prototype) 1. Zenith 2. Unity 3. Sunrise
If we were to do a second ship, my choices would be 1. Zenith (unless taken) 2. Sunrise 3. Unity

So are we naming class and ship seperately then and assuming the prototype is mothballed somewhere or just making the prototype the flagship?
