Lol, I really like all of those quotes. I'm not sure they're the kind of thing we're looking for though.
Along a less comedic line:"Dream big and dare to fail." - Col. Norman D. Vaughan"To be the first to enter the cosmos, to engage, single-handed, in an unprecedented duel with natureโcould one dream of anything more?" - Yuri Gagarin"God has no intention of setting a limit to the efforts of man to conquer space." - Pope Pius XII"Astronomy compels the soul to look upward, and leads us from this world to another." - Plato"Man looks aloft, and with erected eyes Beholds his hereditary skies." - Ovid"It's human nature to stretch, to go, to see, to understand. Exploration is not a choice, really; it's an imperative." - Michael Collins"Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing wonder and aweโthe starry heavens above me and the moral law within me." - Immanuel Kant"I had the ambition to not only go farther than man had gone before, but to go as far as it was possible to go." - Captain Cook"To confine our attention to terrestrial matters would be to limit the human spirit." - Stephen Hawking"Those who study the stars have God for a teacher." - Tycho Brahe

Just to add a few more of my own. I'm of the good old fashioned variety.
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" Martin Luther King.
"We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal" Martin Luther King (again).
"All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope" Sir Winston Churchill.
"We shall never surrender!" Sir Winston Churchill (OK, a small extract from a big speech, but if this ship has big phaser banks, it is slightly appropriate)
"The Federation expects that every man shall do his duty" Paraphrasing Admiral Horatio Nelson.
"Safeguard the helpless, and do no wrong" Kingdom of Heaven.

I'm going with a kind of exploration theme here:
"Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today" James Dean
"Where ever you go, go with all your heart" Confucius

Well, lots of suggestions again. How do we go about narrowing them down?

Jeff had a reasonable suggestion a few posts back: voting on the type of quote...
My suggestion would be collating all the quotes on this thread, maybe limited to one per source, into another thread and then collecting opinions rather than new suggestions.
Sorry for adding even more to the list I thought you were still looking for more ideas.

Not at all, more ideas is definitely a good thing. This thread is now full of good ideas though, so I'll go about listing the best of what we've got so far on another thread. I think one per source is a good idea. I'll also set up a separate poll on the type of quote we'd like to see (I think listing them all would help us decide which style we prefer).
That should help focus discussions further
